finally introducing the other character who also occupies a part of my brain:
Meet Giewont!

while the creator of it, Maria Leszczyńska, originally intended to make a war machine, she struggled a lot with finding resources then. however, with her and her family's life deeply affected by both world wars, the idea never left her mind. inspired by utopian idea of glass houses from a novel "the spring to come" ¹, she created her machine from glass. it would be cheap to make, yet durable, available as help to those in need, able to do hard work in times when it was needed - but if fragile peace was in danger again, it could fight alongside other soldiers. as if to set that role of protector in stone, she named it Giewont ². to test her creation, she gifed it to her brother Andrzej, who owned a small farm near the seaside.

Giewont worked as much as four men, not needing to be paid or fed like people would. it was a perfect solution for everybody, the new industrial revolution. that was, until about half a year into her work, glass started to shatter. it turned out not to be as durable as the utopian story made it to be, especially in contact with rough farm tools. small cracks also started to appear after they worked outside in winter, with low temperatures on the outside and hot steam circulating inside. with her fingers and edges getting sharper every day, Giewont was forbidden from taking care of animals anymore, as she would injure them. she was given the only task with no way to injure others - they recieved a showel fully made from metal and was ordered to dig. she did as she was told, even though the work put strain on her already-falling-apart fingers.
but when one day, when returning home, she noticed daughter of Andrzej, Aniela, swimming too far away from the shore and having trouble coming back, long forgotten wire snapped into its place as she jumped into the water to save her. while Giewont did bring her back home, carrying her in their arms, the girl had severe cuts on her body from coming in contact with robot's sharp hands. furious with his sister creation, Andrzej took it outside, desperate to destroy it. blinded by anger, he didn't even notice the storm gathering over the horizon
Andrzej took the metal showel and struck Giewont on the side on their head, then again, until her body fell and crumbled to pieces. He covered it with sand and raised his hands to deal the final blow.
that's when the lightning struck.
and the man fell to the ground, dead.
the sand melted from the heat around Giewont, filling the empty spaces and connecting the pieces back together. raising from their shallow grave, with body more rigid than what she was used to, she took her shovel and decided to bury the man, with what respect they had left for him. that was, after she dealt the final blow herself.

although miraculous, the lightning didn't return her to the previous state of being. their motions were stiff and some parts of theirs got lost forever among the sands of the beach. the part of her head where the first blow was dealt never worked properly again, rendering Giewont deaf in one ear (or whatever was left from it). however it did some good as well, as it widened the space around her mouth, finally making them able to talk - even if it was simillar to a whistle. determined to help people but with a body that kept hurting everyone around her, Giewont set off into the world, trying to find a home and piece herself together, leaving parts herself and a dead body behind.
footnotes below the cut:
1. "During one pause in their journey, the elder Baryka tells Cezary of an entrepreneur who, along Poland’s Baltic coast, devised an ingenious method for manufacturing durable glass from the vast reserves of pristine sands that had lain for eons beneath coastal peat fields. By a massive Rube Goldberg-type arrangement of channels and a creative method for harnessing the westerly winds (the storytelling here is a literary engineering feat in itself), an incursion of the sea provides power for converting the extracted sand into glass. From this vitreous wonder substance, prefabricated houses of glass are built inexpensively. The houses are strong as steel, hygienic, and easy to heat in winter and keep cool in summer. Whole villages are built with houses of brightly colored glass. Life becomes less of a struggle for mere existence, more civilized, and without the need to toil incessantly. People eat less meat or no meat at all, and begin to revere farm animals as sacred beings. For the reader, the digression serves to freshen the mental palate. For Cezary, however, the story is altogether beguiling, raising the utopian prospect of a more wonderful life, reunited with a homeland that might have been his to begin with and a father he has just rediscovered" - via neh.gov
wow thanks for skimming through footnotes as well! as a reward, here's the first ever design of both Janka and Giewont (which proves they were both created around the same time :] )
2. "Those knights had been in a deep sleep for hundreds of years and they only would wake up if it is time to fight on a great battle. When this day comes, the earth will move, there will be thunders that would shake the sky, many trees will fall and break, and there would be noises when the Border Mountains will break. On that moment the knights will take their horses and they will gallop to fight for Poland once again." - the legend of the sleeping knights

a lot had changed since that time :]
#i hope it wasn't too long :')#sorry if tge drawings vary in between them i kind of drew them in way different times#AND BTW i know all of them have cracks but yellow cracks were supposed to apper after they got almost killed#i just never did the drawing of original giewont. huh#me when i try nkt to give my oc a backstory the lenght of do you love the colors of the sky post -> 😰😰#OH AND ALSO she doesn't have to be purple. thats just what i went with because of my pens but. shes glass#they can be blue. they can be green. they can be yellow or rainbow or whatever. she can be see through. so if i draw her again and the colo#is different don't yell at me alright? the cracks stay yellow tho#spg fanbot#<- i mean. technically it is the same case as with janka but im even less sure now. can remive the tag at request#oc#original character#giewont spg#<- gotta remember to put spg there or mountain fans of tumblr will come for my blood#welcome to the family giewont :D

BBN (BuiltByNim) Linear Switch x Ciel65
Because I missed last Saturdays post and was being a bit lazy until now y'all get a twofer from me today with both a build and a switch post in one!
I'll get into the meat of the switch below the cut, but I got a 90 pack of these curious fellas as part of mykeyboard.eu's surprise switches round 5 offering for just 17 euro, which is a steal compared to the normal 6.81 euro price tag on a pack of 10.
Before I start rambling on any longer, here's the specifics on the Ciel65 Build you're seeing in the picture at the top:
Stock BBN Linear switches
No stabs (build is mostly for show and testing on alphas)
CannonCaps Earl Grey Lavender PBT keycaps
Aluminium plate
With that out of the way, let's dive a little deeper into the specifics of the BBN Linears starting with their rough specs:
63.6g two-stage gold-plated spring
Nylon top housing
Polycarbonate bottom housing
POM long-pole stem
Manufactured by Tecsee
Now, these are fairly common materials that are being used here, but what I find particularly interesting is the deviation from the norm of using using transparent polycarbonate as the material for the bottom housing when it's usually used for the top housing. This makes me want to toy around with different plate and keycap materials to see what sounds I can get out of them.
When I got them, considering I got them as part of what's essentially a switch lootbox, I didn't know what the specs of these were, nor if they came factory lubed or dry and from initial playing around with them I was sure they were very lightly factory lubed from the rather slick push feel and lack of any pinging from the leaf and spring. Now imagine my surprise when I opened them up to a completely dry stem and spring!
The stem tolerances are fairly tight with a slight bit of wobble and the housing fits really tightly into the alu plate of the Ciel65, so much so that my thumbs are a little sore from trying to get them into the board.
I quite enjoy these, even if the flat sound profile isn't 100% my thing and I bet you could get them smoother with either a light lube job or some breaking-in. Having the option for rather clear RGB lighting due to the clear bottom housing and plain white top housing for those people who love their light machines is a neat bonus. If you like this kind of linear switch then they should be worth the full price.

The pictures posted on the Chinese company’s website show a tall, Caucasian man with a crew cut and flattened nose inspecting body armor at its factory.
“This spring, one of our customers came to our company to confirm the style and quantity of bulletproof vests, and carefully tested the quality of our vests,” Shanghai H Win, a manufacturer of military-grade protective gear, proudly reported on its website in March. The customer “immediately directly confirmed the order quantity of bulletproof vests and subsequent purchase intention.”
The identity of the smiling customer isn’t clear, but there’s a fair chance he was Russian: According to customs records obtained by POLITICO, Russian buyers have declared orders for hundreds of thousands of bulletproof vests and helmets made by Shanghai H Win — the items listed in the documents match those in the company’s online catalog.
Evidence of this kind shows that China, despite Beijing’s calls for peace, is pushing right up to a red line in delivering enough nonlethal, but militarily useful, equipment to Russia to have a material impact on President Vladimir Putin’s 17-month-old war on Ukraine. The protective gear would be sufficient to equip many of the men mobilized by Russia since the invasion. Then there are drones that can be used to direct artillery fire or drop grenades, and thermal optical sights to target the enemy at night.
These shipments point to a China-sized loophole in the West’s attempts to hobble Putin’s war machine. The sale of so-called dual-use technology that can have both civilian and military uses leaves just enough deniability for Western authorities looking for reasons not to confront a huge economic power like Beijing.
The wartime strength of China’s exports of dual-use products to Russia is confirmed by customs data. And, while Ukraine is a customer of China too, its imports of most of the equipment covered in this story have fallen sharply, the figures show.
Russia has imported more than $100 million-worth of drones from China so far this year — 30 times more than Ukraine. And Chinese exports of ceramics, a component used in body armor, increased by 69 percent to Russia to more than $225 million, while dropping by 61 percent to Ukraine to a mere $5 million, Chinese and Ukrainian customs data show.
“What is very clear is that China, for all its claims that it is a neutral actor, is in fact supporting Russia’s positions in this war,” said Helena Legarda, a lead analyst specializing in Chinese defense and foreign policy at the Mercator Institute for China Studies, a Berlin think tank.

All about sewing tools

Sewing Tools for Professional Results As with any profession or hobby, using the right tools can make all the difference in the world and can make the difference between amateur or professional results. Even if you’ve only sewn a few projects and collected some basic sewing tools, it may be time to learn about some of the advanced sewing tools designed to give your project that professional edge. Most sewing projects can be completed without the following tools, but as you improve and fine-tune your skills and develop an affinity for quilting, home decorating or clothing construction, you’ll find these tools indispensable for saving time, increasing accuracy and simplifying tasks Cutting Tools Needlework Scissors and Snips Small, 3"- to 5"-long needlework scissors or snips are indispensable for clipping close to the stitching line or trimming intricate areas of a project. They can be used wherever your large bent-handled shears can’t reach. Snips have spring-loaded handles. Keep a pair alongside the sewing machine, at-theready to cut stray threads. Rotary Cutter Used with a self-healing mat and a clear plastic ruler, rotary cutters are ideal for straight cuts in one or more fabric layers. Look for blades that can be easily removed and replaced and a handle that is comfortable. Rotary mats and rulers are made specifically for rotary-blade cutting, and the materials don’t dull rotary blades as other products might. Both the mat and the ruler feature gridlines and angles for cutting accuracy. See more about: rotary cutters Measuring & Altering Tools Grid Board Use a large grid board under the fabric and pattern to align the fabric grain while pinning and cutting. A padded grid board allows you to pin into it when stretching or blocking fabric. Some have ironing surfaces that are also helpful for fusing large fabric sections. Consider a rotating grid board if your space is limited. Mats and wide rulers used for rotary cutting are actually modified grid boards used both underneath and on top of the fabric. See “Rotary Cutter” above. French Curve or Fashion Ruler These rulers have a variety of curves to mimic the body’s curves and are used when altering patterns. It’s helpful for the simplest length adjustment and indispensable when actually changing the style of a garment. Depending on how you turn the ruler and what segment you use, one ruler gives you all the curves necessary to complete pattern lines when altering or drafting patterns. Marking Tools FabricMarking Pens The space-age chemicals used to make these clever pens become more high-tech every day. The disappearing ink allows you to mark most projects at the exact location needed—even on the fabric right side— without fear of staining or discoloration. Look for an ink color that is in high contrast to your fabric, and for accuracy select a fine tip. Choose a water-soluble pen for long-term projects, when you want the markings to remain until you remove them with water. Air-soluble pen inks disappear within a few hours and are ideal for fabrics that can’t be washed or dampened. Some air- and water-soluble pen manufacturers caution against exposing marked fabrics to sunlight or the heat of the iron because heat may set the ink permanently. Always test the pen on a scrap of the fabric before using it on your project. Pressing Tools Tailor’s Ham Resembling a ham, this pressing tool is used as a base or a mold when pressing curved or shaped seams. It’s available in several sizes and should be covered on one side in cotton and the other in wool. The ham’s curves are designed to mimic garment curves and are used to set the shape of collars, lapels, sleeve caps and more. Point Presser & Pounding Block The raised points of this wooden tool allow you to press deep into a corner without creasing the surrounding fabric. The base is used as a pounding block, or clapper, to flatten seams. Needle Board A flat, flexible board with a bed of short needles placed very close together, a velvet board or needle board is used for pressing napped fabrics, such as velvet and corduroy, without crushing the fabric’s pile. A lessexpensive, and less-effective, version of a needle board features a canvas backed fabric with a raised pile front that takes the place of the needles. Sewing Tools SewingMachine Needles Sewing needles are designed for the type of fabric, thread and stitches you’re using. Using the right size and type of needle will greatly improve your sewing success. For more information on choosing the best needle for your project . Tip: A stitching problem, such as skipped stitches or looping or shredding threads, at firstmay appear to be a problemwith themachine when actually it’s a call for a new or better-suited needle. Bodkin Used for drawing elastic, cord or ribbon through a fabric casing, bodkins are available in several different styles. The pincer is usually the shortest with teeth at one end designed to clamp down firmly on ribbon or elastic and pull it through a tubular casing. Longer versions have a safety pin style closure at one end, and the slimmest version, designed like a large sewing needle, has a large eye for feeding narrow cord in narrow casings. A bodkin’s ball-point end comes in handy for turning fabric tubes right side out. Point Turner A point turner is a hand-held, pointed plastic tool designed to poke into tight corners. For crisp, sharp corners and points, use this tool to push out the corners of collars and cuffs before pressing. The opposite end is flat or rounded; use it to hold open seam allowances while pressing, so you don’t burn your fingers.Basting Tape Much faster than hand basting with needle and thread, use narrow, paper backed basting tape to hold zippers, bias tapes and trims in place while stitching. Fray Preventer A drop of this liquid on the cut edge of a woven fabric will bond the edges and prevent the fabric from raveling. Before using, test the product on a scrap of the actual fabric, or in an inconspicuous area of the project. Allow the test piece to dry thoroughly. Then wash, dry and press it as you would the finished project, to be sure the product doesn’t discolor the fabric. Read the full article

in all seriousness i find it appalling that the mm4 robot masters are under the DWN prefix instead of DCN on account of the fact those 8 were manufactured by Cossack [this also applies for tundra man in 11]
Wily has a nasty habit of being lazy and just stealing robots, and yet he has the Audacity to call Light a Plagiarist in 11. Even with original robots like the Dark men, Mega man killers, Bass, King, the copy Mega man with the purple scarf, and the Genesis unit accounted for, Wily has still stolen more robots than he's actually built.
MM1: Light
MM2: His own bots
MM3: Seven of these are technically a conjoined effort between Wily and Light, but Shadow man was found in some ancient ruins and Wily repaired him with a ninja motif. The robots using the DWN label is... Debatable here and a bit complicated, but because I hate Wily's guts, and Seven out of 8 weren't supposed to be for combat anyway. I'm going to count the MM3 cast as stolen. Despite most fanworks and the manga treating them as purely Wily created.
MM4: Cossacks robots. Not Wily's. Their code should be DCN, not DWN
MM5: Okay, Wily got off his lazy ass and built his own robots again for once. Good job Wily.
MM6: Made by various Scientists around the world and kidnapped after being tricked by a fake tournament. For Shame, Wily!
MM World V: Made by aliens to be war machines. Not Wily's work.
MM7: Many people think that the four pods in the start contain the four robots you face at the start of the game, and that wily quickly built the last 4... But I disagree after reading their descriptions in the field guide. Plus it would usually takes time to develop A.I. and test weapons. Plus all their descriptions describe them as having jobs either for, or not for Wily before the events of seven. Burst man, Freeze man, Cloud man, and Shade man were all stolen. And Slash, Junk, Spring, and Turbo were the ones he built, and most likely were the ones to break him out of prison.
MM8: Another mix of built and stolen. Wily stole Tengu, Astro, Clown, and Aqua. And Wily actually built Sword, Frost and Grenade. The source on wether or not Search is stolen varies... But out of spite I also class him as stolen.
MM&B: Wily's involvement is void, as King is the one doing the stealing and building. Though, Wily did build King.
MM9: Light's creations again.
MM10: All robots unfortunate enough to fall victim to Wily's virus. So no he didn't build them.
MM11: All stolen.
DOS: not necessarily canon. But all nine are stolen in my AU so let's count them.
That means that out of 126 boss characters (Excluding Mega man, Roll, and Proto man), Wily has literally only built roughly 36 (my math might be off. My brain is fried after this rant) meaning he's stolen 90 of those robots.
36 is impressive for one guy to build, but compared to the robots Wily has stolen and in some cases aside from light, taken credit for... Yeesh

Guide To choose the Right Tensile/Compression Strength Testing Machine
Despite the fact that Tensile/Compression strength testing machines are and utilized pretty much in every industry there is still absence of information with regards to buying the right machine. Given the scope of items, the features and the variations in cost getting one can be a bit overwhelming and this becomes especially true for non -standard applications.
One of the inquiries we get posed to by our clients is whether to pick a manually operated machine or motorized one and if motorized is chosen, would it be a good idea for us we pick a machine with Computer Control and inclusive of data acquisition. So, we should check out at this according to a point of view of a spring manufacturer.
There are two elements which go with this choice simpler. The first and most clear one is the price. Manually operated machines are less expensive obviously, then motorized lastly computerized. In any case, in the event that you are taking a heavier spring which are utilized in train bogies or airplanes, then, at that point, motorized ones must be utilized no matter what the budget. Imaging putting a pressure power of 5000 kg on a spring, (for example, the ones utilized under the train bogies) with a hand wheel. Indeed, even with utilization of a geared 3 train it's diligent effort.
Whenever that is chosen, the other element which is significant is the volume of testing. A spring manufacturer can let out a huge number of springs a day. The question then is whether to do batch testing or 100% testing. Batch testing is where you pick a couple of tests from the batch, test them and assuming all are good you say that the entire batch is good. In such cases a manual machine would be satisfactory. However, if one wants to test several thousand springs a day it's smarter to go for a motorized machine and reduce the burden of manual labour on the machine operator.
So, we decided on a manual or motorized machine. Subsequent stage in the development is whether to get a computer-controlled machine. These are machines operated straightforwardly from the computer and give the testing output as a force versus displacement chart. This imagines the way of behaving of the spring constantly. Regularly these software’s also provide a statistical report for all the tests, so min, max, standard deviation etc. and so forth. Are accessible as reports. Any large organizations where the report should be imparted to the higher ups who just need an outline of the production quality, these machines are a good decision. Any new product requiring data for approval must be tested on such machines. In many cases the client request that the manufacturer present the report online or in pdf format to avoid any possibility of manipulation. The best way to avoid from this is to utilize a computerized machine.
In specific cases the product you manufacture dictates the type of machine, there are ASTM, IS norms which settle on the decision for you. Be that as it may, for situations where it’s a non-standard product, we trust this article assists you with choosing what's best for you.

Spring Testing Machine (Manually Operated)
Manually operated spring testing machine is a mechanical device used to measure the properties and characteristics of springs.
