I try to explain to people that I love the tos motion picture for the gay vibes and I love camping at Yosemite and I love whales and people look at me like why they are “bad”TM and they just don’t get it. Those are my boys!!

Everyone can shut up about how bad the TOS movies are. I think they’re so fucking entertaining, I love them so much. They’re so stupid. It’s seven movies of Kirk growing increasingly more fondly irritated at Spock, McCoy questioning every life choice he’s ever made and not making better ones, and Spock straight up vibing. It’s beautiful.

i love star trek the motion picture. no one understands star trek the motion picture like i do. the terrible pacing and excruciatingly long pan shots of spaceships is part of the charm. you will sit here and look at the enterprise from different angles for 10 minutes straight and you will LIKE IT

just saying... t'hy'la is not meant to be vague. it is not only brother OR friend OR lover. it would be very illogical if the vulcan language had such a glaring lexical gap; if their only word for "friend" could be misconstrued so drastically.

no, spock thought of kirk as his "t'hy'la" for a reason. it was a precise word choice. if he meant only one of the definitions, he would have said just that. the multiple meanings are a feature, not a bug; the word represents their multifaceted connection that goes beyond simple friendship or romantic passion. it is brother AND friend AND lover and many other things too. just sayin
