Depression By: Catelyn VanCleave
How can I put something as complex as this into words. As soon as I have escaped from it, somehow I find it peering around the corner yet again. Depression makes you feel like you can't even breathe. Suffocation becomes your only friend. Your loved ones want to help you, but they can't. It gets to the point where you're only a burden. Everyone thinks you're making something out of nothing. Your heart just aches. They don't realize you can't control your feelings. They don't realize you can't control your feelings. You're not enjoying wallowing in this misery. But we all know misery loves company. Once it gets it, it's nearly impossible to weaken it's grasp. I know I just painted an utter bleak picture for you .It wasn't easy for me to write down these words. But I forced myself to do so. I gain strength from doing so. It's so important for us to tell others about our struggles, which is why I'm doing so here. We need to start a discussion about this topic. There are so many open gaping wounds that need healing. For some reason we are too ashamed to talk about them. Why is there shame? Everyone has went through something. But for some reason we think putting a band aid on the wound will work, that's only a temporary solution. I see pictures on Social Media that glamorize Depression. Depression is not beautiful! It's not something in which should be on your Bucket List. Such discussion only brings more destruction. What we need to do is have open, honest discussions. You will only begin to heal once you start to talk about it. For so many years, I lied to myself about having Depression. "The first lie Depression ever told me is that I don't have Depression." I found this quote when I was going through a hard time. I never knew a simple quote could bring so much closure. There is much strength in words. Let's build each other up with our words. If you need someone to talk to about anything, message me. It's so important to have someone to talk to. I would love to talk to you and help you with what you're struggling with. We all have struggles, there should be no shame.
