My name is Mulindwa, and I am a transgender woman from Uganda. My parents were murdered because of me—because they loved and accepted me as their child. Since then, I’ve been running for my life.

I escaped to Kenya, then to South Sudan, where I now live in Gorom Refugee Camp. Life here is not safe. Every day I face hunger, pain, and fear. There is no food, no medicine, no safety. But I am still here. I am still fighting.

I am asking the world to see me, to hear me, to stand with me.

Unfortunately as of a few days ago I had to lay off sex working from being assaulted/mentally abused by a partner who I was working with. This person has not only put his hands on me but also tried to convince me that I have multiple mental and personality disorders many times before turning on me. This situation has added a mass amount of trauma on top of what I’ve already been trying to heal, and now I need the support from my community and allies to help me raise enough money to survive as well as transition over the next few months as I heal and take a break from sex working. In less than two weeks, my dear friend Naja is undergoing a surgery. Thanks to the support so-far, she achieved her first fundraiser milestone for the deposit. Now, the next milestone is to go towards her recovery expenses.

These funds will support the limited income she will be receiving from taking a medical leave from work. During her recovery, she has a dedicated group of friends who can come and help her with errands and chores. So, this next milestone will help her cover expenses for: the care/recovery material she needs and her (+ her care team’s) day-to-day expenses.

Please take the time to share this in your networks with intention! It’s important to consider that, recovery is a process that is hard to balance with catching up to work and social expectations. These donations will help Naja get the financial resources to recover less stressfully.

im really over the idea of the big evil white man because it's always like oh that icky white man he has so much privilege and no problems which has its problems but also ignores that a white man can be a member of a minority group and while he will navigate it differently than others and still benefit from the privilege of whiteness and maleness he will still experience oppression because of it. and this is done by a lot of people but the main perpetrators are white afab people who are like oooh icky white man so but i'm not a man so i'm one of the good ones!! and i specify afab because i see this from nonbinary afab people too, this idea that you haven't spoiled by having one of those terrible penises and even if there's like #supporttranswomen these people still view the penis as a source of a terrible power which ends up with things like trans women being forced to out themselves because of harassment.
