Ciel Nosurge English Fan Translation Now Available
Tumblr media
A group of Ar Tonelico fans within the 'A Reyvateil’s Melody’ community have announced that after eight years of work, alongside delays, their English fan translation patch of Ciel Nosurge is now available for PlayStation Vita
Fans can now enjoy this game with English language support, including dialogue, videos, and images. The team also confirmed that they made this version of the tile compatible with Vita3K on PC.
Further, there are new features like a glossary and Offline Linking “to get all the features from Ar nosurge without the hassle to perform the procedure with the Japanese version of the game.”
All Ion’s voicemails originally from the official site and an alternative Sharl creation system which doesn’t need the embedded camera of the PS Vita have been backported from the DX version too.

Ciel Nosurge was initially released with just its first episode before additional episodes were released as DLC. Then, multiple versions were released, with twelve episodes in total categorized into three story arcs. Further, an offline version of the game was released in 2014, and a remaster, Ciel nosurge DX, was released exclusively in Japan for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
In the title, players communicate with an amnesiac girl from another dimension, Ion, who is next in line to be the emperor of her world. Players can also romance her gradually across several interactions. The direct sequel, Ar Nosurge, was later released and even localized on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita despite Ciel Nosurge never leaving Japan. These two titles are also set in the same universe as the Ar Tonelico series.
You can view more details and download links for the Ciel Nosurge English fan translation via its dedicated forum post.

Class:::XIO_PROCEED was a potential song for emergencies. A code command composed as a song substitute Ozwald made on the side if he couldn’t master Meo's Pastalie and her New Testament.
It's role was made to handle the Heart of the Land project once the Fuser command was completed; XIO_PROCEED would convert the poisonous substance into pure solar energy through dimension conversion and sublimating the essence of the corrosive, corruptive substance to allow it not to become a viral plague once the newer continent of the Wasteland was forged.
Unfortunately, due to the complexity of testing the usage of the newer code language discovered by he and the Mad Doctor, they altered the usage from after the [Fuser] to be made instead to be an energy disrupter. More specifically: [Blot Rerouting] on a smaller scale.
A rerouting script that, years later, stumbled into the hands of Briar Country's very own [Levan Draconia].
His encounter and studies of the script allowed him a glimpse into the lives of the Wanderers Alice and Oz. Sadly, to prevent any of the Silver Owls from claiming such knowledge, Levan had to alter the code and script more to the Mother Tongue of the Planet. In doing so, he kept it hidden safe until it was time for him to give to a potential user. Once he found such a person, the original code will be revealed and ready to be executed.
It was a generous thing he did, as one would guess. Since one little [doll] was the perfect vessel to use it to save [his son].

"Never let it be said I don't care for my students. Aren't I most generous?"
-------------------------------------------------------
"I... thought this was lost forever."
Milgram stood in awe of the preserved, pristine steel interior. This chamber, once the ancient throne chamber of Sharanohiar, Soreil's Sharl haven, should have long rusted away after the ship's abandonment. And yet here it was, untouched as the day Lady Kanoyeel ordered it untouched. Not like he was there for any of it, but it was still a significant part of history, simply... erased. Or rather, forgotten. Left to lie, in favor of a brighter future.
Behind him, two Genom-Sharls, a set of tiger-like twins, stood at the ready. "You would be forgiven for believing so. This is one of the government's closest secrets." "But as it is the closest anyone in this day and age may get to the Surge Concerto Terminal, we saw fit to grant you access for this great endeavor. To reconnect with Ar Ciel is master Cosal's greatest wish."
The blue dragon gripped his ritual robes and took a deep breath as he walked out to the center of the room, scaled feet clacking against the cold floor with each step. A turn to the two envoys, and he was given a nod of acknowledgement.
"Follow your heart, Milgram. Our ancient lord trusts in your judgement." "Sing the song that will reunite the two distant children of EXA_PICO. Sing freely with all your strength, MILGRAM_TEIWAZ_KANOYEEL_SOREIL."
He closed his eyes... and belted out the beginnings of a prayer to sacred Singing Hill.
iyon-du vari-wei-iz, koh-ne aa-nie-iz soh-nh nyue-i;;;!
------------------------------------------------------------
"Readings nominal. D-Waves successfully optimized." "Unknown energy signature... presumably the magic of Twisted Wonderland. It's remaining stable, ma'am." "Mark it down as all green, then. Yuuki! You holding up in there fine, kiddo?"
Covered in red scales and eyes narrowed into draconic scales, Yuuki stood in the middle of the base of the Tower of Harvestasha. With help from the Tower herself, it was made into an amplifying field pouring all its strength into the aberrant - or rather, refined - Reyvaroid. Across from him was a legion of researchers devoting their all to his well-being and the execution of this song, its head researcher looking over his physical transformation with a discerning eye.
He looked back with a resolute, yet uncertain, gaze. Sure, they managed to open a way to Twisted Wonderland with much less than this, but that was only because Mickey and PHANTASIA itself was willing it so. This was an operation between two points in space-time directly in EXA_PICO's domain.
"No, but we don't exactly have the famed Sakia Lumei or - Wills forbid - the Briar Maiden herself, so I gotta take care of it."
Yuuki's passive chuckle was met with the encouraging uproar of everyone else, the head researcher in particular laughing with all aplomb. "Ace points for honesty, kid! Don't worry, we'll handle all the small details, so just do what feels natural. We're all green, YUUKI_TEIWAZ_AOTO_HARVESTASHA. Was paks ra reen yor hymmnos!"
A nod. Searching deep in himself, he began singing a most ancient prayer to sacred Singing Hill.
Rrha ki ra tie yor ini en nha...
------------------------------------------------
On that day, Ra Ciela and Ar Ciel reunited through a looking glass.

After my daily dose of "mentally on edge due to Hymmnoserver being down", I realized something:
If you're plural, you can literally make Song Magic meant for yourself and a headmate (acting as the Genom/Sharl/Reyvateil - or maybe the other way around?), and it wouldn't even be wrong in terms of in-canon mechanics in either the Surge Concerto duology or the Ar tonelico trilogy. Well, I'd still personally kick the "girls only" rule to the curb...

Writing Notes: Classical Music Eras
Tumblr media
Classical Music - describes orchestral music, chamber music, choral music, and solo performance pieces, yet within this broad genre, several distinct periods exist. Each classical era has its own characteristics that distinguish it from classical music at large.
Eras of Classical Music
Musicologists divide classical music into historical eras and stylistic subgenres. One way to examine classical music history is to divide it into 7 periods:
Medieval period (1150 to 1400): Music has existed since the dawn of human civilization, but most music historians begin cataloging classical music in the Medieval era. Medieval music is known for monophonic chant—sometimes called Gregorian chant due to its use by Gregorian monks. In addition to singing, Medieval musicians played instrumental music on instruments like the lute, the flute, the recorder, and select string instruments.
Renaissance period (1400 to 1600): Renaissance-era music introduced polyphonic music to wide audiences, particularly via choral music, which was performed in liturgical settings. In addition to the lute, Renaissance musicians played viol, rebec, lyre, and guitar among other string instruments. Brass instruments like the sackbut and cornet also emerged during this era. Perhaps the most notable Renaissance composers were Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, John Dowland, and Thomas Tallis.
Baroque period (1600 to 1750): During the Baroque era, classical music surged forward in its complexity. The Baroque era saw a full embrace of tonal music—music based on major scales and minor scales rather than modes—and it maintained the polyphony of the Renaissance era. Many of the instruments used by today's orchestras were common in Baroque music, including violin, viola, cello, contrabass (double bass), bassoon, and oboe. Harpsichord was the dominant keyboard instrument, although the piano first emerged during this era. The most renowned composers of the early Baroque era include Alessandro Scarlatti and Henry Purcell. By the late Baroque period, composers like Antonio Vivaldi, Dominico Scarlatti, George Frideric Handel, and Georg Philipp Telemann achieved massive popularity. The most influential composer to come from the Baroque era is Johann Sebastian Bach, who composed extensive preludes, fugues, cantatas, and organ music.
Classical period (1750 to 1820): Within the broad genre of classical music exists the Classical period. This era of music marked the first time that the symphony, the instrumental concerto (which highlights virtuoso soloists), and the sonata form were brought to wide audiences. Chamber music for trio and string quartet was also popular during the Classical era. The signature classical composer is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, although he was far from the only star of the classical era. Joseph Haydn, Franz Schubert, and J.S. Bach's sons J.C. Bach and C.P.E. Bach were also star composers during this period. Opera composers like Mozart and Christoph Willibald Gluck developed the operatic form into a style that remains recognizable today. Ludwig van Beethoven began his career during the Classical era, but his own innovations helped usher in the next musical era.
Romantic period (1820 to 1900): Exemplified by late-period Beethoven, the Romantic era introduced emotion and drama to the platonic beauty of Classical period music. Early Romantic works like Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 set a template for nearly all nineteenth-century music that followed. Many of the composers who dominate today's symphonic repertoires composed during the Romantic era, including Frederic Chopin, Franz Liszt, Felix Mendelssohn, Hector Berlioz, Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms, Anton Bruckner, Gustav Mahler, Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Richard Strauss, Jean Sibelius, and Sergei Rachmaninoff. Opera composers like Richard Wagner, Giuseppe Verdi, and Giacomo Puccini used Romanticism's emotional power to create beautiful melodic lines sung in Italian and German. The Romantic era also saw the creation of a new instrument in the woodwind family, the saxophone, which would gain special prominence in the century to come.
Modern period (1900 to 1930): The Modern era of art and music came about in the early twentieth century. Classical composers of the early twentieth century reveled in breaking the harmonic and structural rules that had governed previous forms of classical music. Igor Stravinsky defiantly stretched instruments to their natural limits, embraced mixed meter, and challenged traditional notions of tonality in works like The Rite of Spring. French composers like Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel led a subgenre of twentieth-century music called Impressionism. Others like Dimitri Shostakovich, Paul Hindemith, and Béla Bartók stuck with classical forms like the piano concerto and the sonata, but challenged harmonic traditions. Perhaps most radical was the German composer Arnold Schoenberg who, along with disciples like Alban Berg and Anton Webern, disposed of tonality altogether and embraced serial (or 12-tone) music.
Postmodern period (1930 to today): The art music of the twentieth century shifted starting in the 1930s and continuing into the post-World War II era, ushering in a style of music that is sometimes called postmodern or contemporary. Early purveyors of postmodern music include Olivier Messiaen, who combined classical forms with new instruments like the ondes martenot. Postmodern and contemporary composers like Pierre Boulez, Witold Lutoslawski, Krzysztof Penderecki, Henryk Górecki, György Ligeti, Philip Glass, Steve Reich, John Adams, and Christopher Rouse have blended the lines between tonal and atonal music, and they’ve blurred the lines between classical music and other forms like rock and jazz.

Gust-Developed Life Sim 'Ciel Nosurge Offline' English Fan Translation Releasing This Year After Six Years Of Work - Noisy Pixel
Tumblr media
The fan team Atelier Traduction has announced that, after six years, their English fan translation of Ciel nosurge, a prequel to Ar Nosurge, will be released sometime in October or November.
To elucidate what this title is, it is known in Japan as Ciel nosurge: Ushinawareta Hoshi e Sasagu Uta, (Ciel nosurge -A Song Offered to the Lost Planet-), and it was initially released for the PlayStation Vita in 2012.
Additionally, this was actually the first game Gust developed following its merger with Koei Tecmo. Fans of the Ar Tonelico series should know that this title occurs in the same universe. It’s also a prequel to the aforementioned Ar Nosurge, which received an official English release in 2014. No version of Ciel Nosurge was ever localized.
You can view the ‘A Reyvateil’s Melody’ forum for details and screenshots on this project.

Harmonizing Creativity: Inside Composer Peyman Farzinpour's Journey
Tumblr media
The world of music composition is a fascinating field where artistry and imagination come together to create tunes that resonate time and time again. Behind every symphony, sonata or concerto lies the composer's complex creative journey. Exploring the creative process of a musician like Peyman Farzinpour reveals a tapestry woven of inspiration, dedication, and innovation. It begins with a spark – an idea, a fleeting melody, or a surge of emotion – that ignites the composer's imagination. This initial impulse serves as the foundation upon which the entire composition is built. From here, the composer delves deeper into the nuances of music theory, experimenting with harmony, rhythm and instrumentation. Each note is carefully crafted, reflecting Farzinpour's unique voice and vision. It is a process of testing and revision, where each iteration brings the composition closer to its intended form. However, a musician's journey is not entirely a solitary endeavor. Collaborations with musicians, feedback from gurus, and even influence from other art forms contribute to shaping the final composition. Ultimately, a musician's journey, exemplified by talents like Peyman Farzinpour, is a testament to the limitless possibilities of human creativity, where passion meets discipline, and innovation finds its voice in the universal language of music.

"Hi."
"Hi!"
"Um... what's your name?"
"I'm Milgram. What about you?"
"I'm Yuuki. I'm a Reyvateil."
"Woah, cool! But aren't Reyvateils supposed to be girls?"
"Yeah, but then they made it so we could be boys too."
"Wow..."
"Mhm. I think it's called being a "Reyvaroid.""
"Why the different name?"
"...I dunno."
-----------------------------------------------------------
"Ar Ciel sounds awesome! You get to use Song Magic whenever you want, and there's so much lights and sounds!"
"Yeah... but Ra Ciela is cooler. You don't get made fun of for looking weird when you Sing, and people get to share their [feelings] way better."
"You think so?"
"Mhm. Plus it's where you live."
"If you say so?"
"It's true!"
------------------------------------------------------
"I don't wanna go..."
"But if you stay here, you'll never wake up. What about all the yummy food? And those cool masked hero shows you told me about? And- and the robots!"
"But if I wake up, I'll forget you."
...
"...Milgram?"
"Hey, I know. Here."
"...a plush?"
"His name is Beast Chaser. He'll remember for you."
"Wow... Beast Chaser... wait, like the bike robot I made up?!"
"Mhm!"
"Milgram... thank you!"
"Yup!"
"Wait- promise!"
"Promise?"
"That we'll meet again! Pinky swear on it!"
"...okay...!"
...
"Why're you crying, Yuuki?"
"...I'll just forget the promise, too..."
"H-hey, don't cry. Remember, Beast Chaser will remember for you!"
"...uh huh."
"And besides, there's a thing that my Mama likes to say."
"Yeah?"
"Forgotten, but never gone. If the chain of memories falls apart, its links will remain. Even if you forget - even if I forget too - it'll still be in our hearts."
"...okay."
...
"I still don't wanna go."
"...that's alright. Me neither. Want to Sing again?"
"...alright. One more Song."
-----------------------------------------------------
"Mama, Mama!"
"Ah, what is it my little blue star?"
"Lookit! Shiny!"
"Oh, what a beautiful Genometrica Crystal! And just where did you get it?"
"From a dream!"
"What kind of dream?"
"A big one, with a nice person!"
"That's good!"
"...Mama?"
"Yes, dear?"
"How did I get it anyways?"
"Well... let's just say, you are a very lucky boy. The one who you saw in that dream is your soulmate."
"Soulmate?!"
"Yes. Far beyond the stars, there's someone whose heart is intertwined with yours."
"And will we get to meet?"
"Maybe. Maybe not. It's such a long distance away..."
"...aw..."
"But it isn't impossible."
"Is it?"
"Why, yes. In fact, I have just the Song for that!"
"But Moooooooom, you're always singing..."
"Hohoho~ It's my job, blue star! Though... you're right. I have been Singing quite a lot lately. How about one more Song, and then I'll take a break for the day?"
"Okay! One more Song! And then you can teach me how to sew!"
