jumping off the back of the post about genres of song lyrics, another thing about tmbg's lyrics in particular is that even when they write about pleasant themes, they still manage to frequently do so through a sinister lens:

been thinking a lot abt alpha pinching in omegaverse

so whatever nerve there is that alphas pinch is in a similar position to the vagus nerve (the nerve that triggers your nervous system to drop bp and make you pass out) except it's exposed on either side of the cervical vertibrae so there's a left nerve bundle and a right nerve bundle and you need to press both of them to cause the drop

and when theyre triggered it causes both a drop in blood pressure (enough to make an omega slightly hazy) and release of certain neurotransmitting hormones that overall both calm but also make the omega more suggestible. but the full reaction can only be triggered 1. by an alpha and 2. by an alpha the omega is either mated to or has formed a pseudobond with because the hormones can only be activated if there are bond compound chemicals present

and irl the pituitary gland (what controls ur hormones) can become overstimulated and release too much of a certain hormone which overloads the nervous system so let's say that can happen here with the over use of the pinch -> over triggering of the nerve causing the omega to drop into a semi-permanent haze. and the more theyre pinched during this state, the longer the haze lasts

and so nick absolutely abuses pinching after his first couple months w brock. at first brock was more suggestible, going along with whatever nick said, but now he's starting to talk back and we cant have that now, can we? a snappy omega wouldn't be befitting for an alpha of nick's reputation. so any time brock makes even the slightest hint at resisting, nick pinches him, even over the smallest things like brock not answering his phone right away. in his ideal world, brock would be kneeling at his feet 24/7 where he belongs.

brock gets permanent damage to his knees from the constant drops, slight fractures in both knee caps, strains in the LCL and MCL (ligaments on either side of the knee) and a partial tear in one of his patellar tendons. not to mention the destruction of his anterior cartilage.

the combination of severe knee injuries + haze state starts seriously affecting his play. his knees are completely torn up, meaning he cant rely on mobility at all, and the haze impacts his decision making. he can't remember plays, read the defense, find his receivers. maybe nick's right. maybe he doesn't belong on the field.

phai.non is absolutely the kind of man both with his teleslate and in modern verses his phone to use certain emojis. his go to is the sun or star type of emojis and smilies, whether it's a simple : ) or just something plain, but since he canonly uses cutesy chimera emojis when you text the trailblazer, safe to say that goes on in his modern life (where he's actually happy).

that said, if he doesn't like you, he can also use that and his arsenal of generally positive traits like a weapon. same as his smile. while phai.non 's temper is dependent on the situation, ( pissing him off is just a bad idea given he's such a nice guy generally . . . ! ) that he will passive aggressively send emojis. i'll probably elaborate on him doing payback beyond just silly texting tbh but this came to mind first.

[ sb who was rude to him / TEXT ] stop using emojis on me [ phai.non ; TEXT ] proceeds to use the most annoying emojis to even remotely piss them off or annoy them and he hasn't even gotten started on being in person.

phain.on tries to not be petty, but if you piss him off enough, he has his little ways of annoying and pissing you off back. his cutesy little ways of cheering his friends and co-workers up and making sure they have a good day as best as possible will be weaponized once the smile uh..drops. you don't want it to drop.

although he may spam emojis to loved ones in canon that he generally loves in some form or fashion, in basic terms the chrysos heirs are all his 'second family' so if ana.xa ? he'd affectionately spam him with emojis and cute gifs that are just so stupid that he knows what he's doing. he knows but he also knows his loved ones know how playful and goofy he can get.

he's also the kind of person who if you're close to him and you play along with him (my.dei in particular given they're always hanging out before things get...worse . ) that if you block him temporarily, enjoy your phone! it just got spammed with fake hurt messages like , 'wow i can't believe you did that to me' so it's really up to how much whimsy the guy has that day. he generally is very professional at work but playful at the same time, but those moments of childish whimsy are much more present and actually genuine in modern settings.

still, he doesn't often spam but he has a special place in hell for people who piss him off and he will piss them off and get even in the most polite and friendly way. he's extremely charismatic and incredibly intelligent despite fandom misinterpretations so he's not above being petty. he's still human.

so yeah be careful with how you treat him him although in general once he's your friend or someone who you work with, he's generally just a guy who uses a smiley emoji and is like " great have a good day :) ! " pretty simple usually. it's his friends that get the goofy crap. mars' my.dei who is always his boyfriend gets the stupid emoji spam and the dramatics the most. ana.xa he does it on purpose because while he cherishes his mentor he loves pissing him off for giggles. his reactions are too good to pass up.

agla.ea...not so much. his predecessor he never wants to make angry, he doesn't want to die thanks. cas.torice who is like, his closest friend besides my.dei... she just gets the sweetest notes, alongside hya.cine and tri.bios / tri.bbie.

also given phai.non i headcanon as an early riser? given all that energy? (ad.hd phai.non agenda) he's definitely the one who probably got your breakfast for you and a coffee, pat your back if you're comfy with it, and dropped a lil sticky note ( if you're special ) and went about his day. he's good at rallying people's moods for better or worse .

if he's a menace at just texting imagine how much of a little shit he can be in person if you aren't nice to him / respectful. he's generally a gentle, polite person but...he isn't above being petty. he isn't above dealing out twice as much back. he usually tries to stay above that but he's human and his temper can range from hot to cold so it's just not a good idea, but also a funny one given... good luck getting brain.rot from stupid dog gifs and cutesy emojis that a five year old would use and he knows that they're cringe inducing ... that's why he's using them.

just imagine if he's in person and you slighted him or ESPECIALLY someone he loves and he's MUCH worse and texting is a minor thing. he could be so much worse.

she’s not going to let herself regret this.  she’s had too many regrets over the last five years,  and they all start and end with @manslaught,  which is why she’s forced herself to finally just be here.   she tried in the last few years,  only to realize it was too late—  which only scared her more,  knowing that mikayla’s situation had gone from bad to worse in her final years,  all the more reason for her to stop being the coward she was when mikayla was rescued and be the person she deserves now — if mikayla even wants that.   she had to beg nat to let her have this,  to tell her when she was picking up mikayla so that she could do it instead, and she agreed after her pleading,  only with tai’s promise that she’d call her immediately if mikayla wanted nothing to do with her.   tai’s prepared for that, too, because she has no idea what to expect from mikayla.  maybe she’s long over tai now,  maybe she came to realize that they were never the right fit for her,  anyway.   but tai had time on the outside and still couldn’t come to that realization herself —  because still,  all she wants is her. 

it’s selfish to be here,  selfish to assume that mikayla wants to see her,  especially first thing.  it’s even more selfish for her to not even give her proper warning— to make her face be the first thing mikayla sees when stepping out of prison.  but there’s an optimistic part of taissa that wants to believe that it might be a good thing, too.  if there’s a chance mikayla still believes in the love they had,  then she will see her and feel like there’s hope,  like she has a home—  because tai has that ready for her too,  if she wants it, even if they’re strangers now.   

when she sees her walk out,  she quickly stands up straight,  suddenly more nervous than ever.  her hands clasp in front of her,  then they move to her hips,  then they rest awkwardly at her side,  because she doesn’t know how to act— she just knows she has to follow her lead.  she takes a deep breath,  calming herself,  reminding herself that things used to be easy with mikayla,  and maybe they still can be.   ❝  mm—  ❞   she starts,  and the thought of saying her name out loud again,  to her,  already makes her eyes well with tears.  she gulps, going on.   ❝  hi, mikayla,  ❞   she says,  bringing her hand up to wave,  because all she really wants to do is crash into her and pull her into a hug,  but she can’t act first.  it’s her turn to wait.
