Dongsik finds him at the balcony of their hotel room.
He closes the main entrance door, drops the key card on the desk, and slides open the door to the balcony. He does none of these things quietly, deliberately alerting the other person of his presence.
Han Joowon does not react. Dongsik’s presence isn’t unwelcome then.
He sidles up to him and holds on to the railing, following Joowon’s lead as he surveys the view before them.
The sky above is overcast with fading light, with the sun ready to set beneath the ocean in an hour or so. The temperature is chilly but not cold, and the beachfront breeze is ruffling his hair. There’s a distant peal of laughter in the background, with little kids running around and playing in the sand with their parents.
“Second thoughts?” he asks softly.
A hand immediately slides over to cover his, fingers untangling his hold on the balcony to thread theirs tightly together.
“Never about you.”
Dongsik turns to Joowon then at his earnest declaration and offers him a gentle smile, understanding the deflection for what it is.
He understands Joowon far, far too well—even when Joowon doesn’t understand his own self.
“But you are having second thoughts.”
This time, Joowon hesitates, lips pressed tightly together with a frustration Dongsik knows Joowon doesn’t know how to articulate. Instead, Joowon tugs at Dongsik’s hand on his—and Dongsik, as always, allows himself to be led.
He will always go where Joowon tells him to go.
Which is just as well, as he once again finds himself in his favorite place in the world, safe and warm: wrapped up in Joowon’s arms.
He sighs in contentment, leaning back against Joowon’s taller, sturdier frame as Joowon hooks his chin over Dongsik’s shoulder. “They look happy,” Joowon murmurs, his breath a warm gust of air tickling Dongsik’s ear.
Dongsik follows his gaze—and his mouth quirks in amusement. It isn’t the sound of kids he’s been hearing after all—although by the looks of it, they may as well be children.
Jihoon is barefoot in the sand, screaming in mock-fear as he runs for his life as Jihwa chases after him, brandishing her own shoe at him. It makes Dongsik grin at the all too familiar sight; there had been one too many times when he’d seen Jihwa going after her little brother like this when they were growing up, especially whenever she’d find out that Jihoon had been skipping school for his idol auditions and trainings.
Jaeyi squeals in delight as soon as she catches Jihoon, who realizes far too late that the two women have teamed up against him and Jihwa has in fact been leading Jihoon straight to her. It seems to be a team game of boys versus girls, Dongsik muses, as Gwangyoung himself is running away from Seonnyeo, yelling at her to go after her husband instead.
Dosoo—who until then has been hiding behind where Ohsub is designated with what Dongsik can only assume are babysitting duties, as Huimang intently builds her sandcastle under Ohsub’s watchful eye—swiftly rises and backs away in fear as soon as he locks gazes with his partner.
And with Jihwa’s leading battle cry, all three women begin chasing after Dosoo, as Huimang happily cheers her mother on and Dosoo loudly complains about his kid having a favorite parent.
“They are happy, Joowon-ah.”
Joowon’s arms tighten around his waist.
“Sometimes I can’t help but wonder if—I deserve them.”
Dongsik twists as much as Joowon’s tight hold on him allows to stare at him. “Yah, I’m the one you’re marrying tomorrow,” Dongsik mock-complains, correctly predicting the fond, exasperated way Joowon huffs at him in return. “Shouldn’t it be my approval you’re worried about?”
Callused fingers gently lift his chin for him to meet Joowon’s eyes.
“Because with you, jagiya, I never had any doubt.”
And that’s a damnably deadly combination: the low rumble of Joowon’s voice; his heated, half-lidded gaze; the endearment that is less affection and more wholehearted, indefatigable truth.
Dongsik is thankful for the way Joowon is holding him up because it never fails to make his knees weaken, like this.
“Such a turnaround,” Dongsik teases, not even bothering to hide his breathlessness, “from the way you doubted everything about me the first time we met, Inspector Han.”
He has made this joke a thousand times before, but somehow it doesn’t land today, judging from the way the light in Joowon’s eyes unexpectedly dims.
Dongsik turns to fully face him, forcing Joowon to loosen his hold on him. “Joowon-ah,” he says quietly. “What exactly is it that you think you don’t deserve?”
You deserve the world, Dongsik wants to tell him, and it pains me that I fall short in giving it to you.
That I fail in making you believe you deserve it.
Despite disentangling himself from Joowon’s embrace, Dongsik is still caged inside Joowon’s arms leaning on the railing on either side of him. Joowon doesn’t really let Dongsik go—he never does. That’s the one thing Dongsik has never doubted about Joowon, too: that he will never, ever be too far away from Dongsik.
It’s Joowon’s wordless reassurance that he will always come back—even when he gets lost inside his own head, like this.
Joowon’s lids fall close when Dongsik reaches up to cup his cheek, thumb caressing the soft, sensitive skin beneath his eyes. His bags aren’t as prominent and deep as they had been a year ago, when Joowon had been in such excruciating physical pain, despite fighting his best to hide it from Dongsik.
Ever since he almost lost Joowon that day, Dongsik doesn’t take for granted all the chances he has to touch Joowon like this, reassuring himself of Joowon’s vow that he will always be by Dongsik’s side.
Even at death’s door.
Joowon reaches up to take Dongsik’s hand and presses his mouth at the centre of Dongsik’s palm; Dongsik’s fingers curl inwards, wanting to catch and keep that searing kiss with him forever.
Behind them on the beachfront below, there’s a resounding victory cry as Dosoo is successfully tackled to the ground, his own toddler jumping on his chest as she joins in on the game.
“Not fair!” Gwangyoung can be heard complaining good-naturedly. “Our team is outnumbered!”
“Then go make a son when it’s your turn to get married!” Ohsub can be heard yelling back to a resounding chorus of laughter.
“Joowon-ah,” Dongsik murmurs, “how can you think you don’t deserve them, when they’re your family too?”
“They were yours, first.”
Dongsik’s breath hitches when Joowon’s eyes flutter open to meet his.
“They’re here for you, first and foremost,” Joowon tells him softly. “Because it is you they loved first.”
Joowon’s lips brush along Dongsik’s knuckles as he speaks, the sensation a grounding counterpoint to the pang that shoots up Dongsik’s chest.
“I am simply someone they welcomed into the family because it is you they love, because your happiness is paramount to them—a sentiment that I fiercely share, given that I, too, love you.” Here Joowon smiles warmly at Dongsik, butterflies flying from Dongsik’s belly up to his heart. “And somehow, impossibly, you find yourself happy with me, and for that I will always be deeply, humbly grateful.”
It still takes Dongsik’s breath away when Joowon fills his personal space like this, foreheads touching and breaths mingling—close enough to bridge that hair’s breadth of a gap between their mouths. “Because of you, Lee Dongsik… I have a true family now, too.”
Dongsik would’ve kissed him by now, the way he has a thousand times before, like a sunflower drawn to never ending kisses from the sun. But Dongsik will not allow himself to be distracted at the moment because this—despite knowing Joowon from the inside out by now, he still doesn’t understand this.
“And what does all of that have to do with you not deserving any of it?”
Joowon’s gaze is assessing now, head tilted slightly to side, and Dongsik knows he hasn’t been able to stop the frustration from seeping into his tone. Dongsik has always been hyperaware of every single minuscule change of Joowon’s expressions, and he heartbreakingly recognizes this:
Contrite and apologetic, Joowon brushes his lips on the corner of Dongsik’s mouth—as if kissing Dongsik, too, is a privilege he can’t allow himself to deserve.
Dongsik feels like his heart is being squeezed from the inside.
“Because I haven’t earned it,” Joowon whispers. “I now have all this love from them—and from you—yet I haven’t earned any of it.”
Shamefaced, Joowon buries his face on the crook of Dongsik’s neck, even as he wraps his arms tightly around Dongsik’s waist to embrace him once again, holding on for dear life—frightened, it seems, that Dongsik will push him away this time.
Dongsik, meanwhile, is trembling from the scorching fury that erupts inside of him.
He’s been trying his best to not think of Han Kihwan these days, because the monster doesn’t deserve to be even spared a thought, but it’s the unavoidable conseqeunce of loving Han Joowon:
That everyday, Dongsik is reminded of the extent of Han Kihwan’s monstrosity through the damage he has done to his own son.
How fucked up of a father do you have to be to teach your son all his life that love has to be earned?
The fabric of his shirt crumples as Dongsik feels Joowon’s fingers curl into fists on the small of his back, and it abates Dongsik’s boiling anger down to a simmer, Joowon’s touch grounding him as always to what is important to address.
Because Joowon doesn’t know, Dongsik realizes with a start.
Joowon doesn’t know.
Joowon doesn’t know that when they watched the music festival and Minjeong’s favorite song was being played by the band on stage, Jihoon revealed to Dongsik then that Joowon had once sought his advice, because Joowon saw Dongsik quietly weeping during the anniversary of Minjeong’s death, and Joowon had searched high and low for the already sold out tickets to the festival when Jihoon informed him of the event taking place on Minjeong’s birthday.
Joowon doesn’t know that Dongsik knows Joowon returns constantly to the morgue, both on the date of birth and date of death of Lee Geumhwa, offering his own gifts and prayers even though Joowon doesn’t believe in a god either, because it is Seonnyeo who always secretly assists him in bypassing the officers in charge who won’t allow him near Lee Geumhwa’s body, simply because he isn’t family.
Joowon doesn’t know that the caregiver in charge at The Forest Nursing Home once happily told Dongsik that they had been receiving a steady supply of tangerines for Kim Yeonghui from an anonymous donor, not knowing that aside from Kang Jinmook, Han Joowon was the only other person who knew that tangerines were the favorite fruit of Dongsik’s mother.
Joowon doesn’t know that Jaeyi had once pulled Dongsik aside and told him in no uncertain terms that it would be better for Joowon to accept his eligibility for citizenship in England so that he and Dongsik could get married there, because aside from the fact that their marriage would actually be legally recognized, it would also be safer for Joowon to be away from his father’s men in the National Police Agency, and that the only reason Joowon staunchly refused this logical solution was because he was determined to stay here in Korea for Dongsik.
Joowon doesn’t know that while he was recuperating in the hospital a year ago, Ohsub had called for an official meeting with all of the cops and detectives in their trusted Manyang circle—including Dongsik, even though he wasn’t a part of the force anymore—to inform them all of the constant danger Han Joowon was in as Han Kihwan’s men were determined to eliminate the son who destroyed his father’s fallen network, that this was the true hell Joowon once vowed he would go through, for Dongsik.
Joowon doesn’t know that Jihwa once went to Dongsik’s house in Okcheon lake alone, while Joowon was in physical therapy, and asked Dongsik—begged him, threatened him—to be a hundred percent sure of his feelings for Joowon, to be sure that Dongsik wouldn’t be stringing Joowon along, to be sure that Dongsik wouldn’t leave Joowon in the end, because Jihwa had just wrapped up the controversial case with The Community Safety and Traffic Bureau and she had burst into hysterical sobs in Dongsik’s arms because of everything she had found out—everything she discovered Jowoon had to go through—simply because Joowon chose to stay by Dongsik’s side.
Joowon doesn’t know that it was inside The Community Safety and Traffic Bureau that Dongsik unexpectedly found himself reunited with Park Jeongje.
Joowon is right—Dongsik is the one their family has loved first. But it is Joowon they now fiercely love more, because it is Joowon who needs that love more.
No one will ever love Joowon more than Dongsik. That much Dongsik is absolutely certain. But Dongsik also knows, as each member of their family has unanimously proven, that between the two of them, it is Joowon who loves better.
Joowon already deserves Dongsik’s love—and that of their family—a thousand times over. But that is not even the point Dongsik has to prove today.
Because Dongsik will not be like Han Kihwan. His love for Joowon will never be something Joowon has to earn.
So he gathers Joowon close and murmurs: “I’ve always wondered what it would have been like, had Yuyeonie fulfilled her dream.”
He feels Joowon stilling in his arms. Slowly, Joowon pulls back, his face carefully neutral to conceal the ever-present guilt he knows Dongsik doesn’t like seeing.
“I’ve always wondered what it would have been like to be the proud brother of one of the most brilliant minds this country’s judiciary will ever have the privilege of being served by.” Dongsik smiles at Joowon ruefully. “She was the only person in the history of Manyang to have been accepted in Seoul National University’s law department. It’s partly because of the way she set such a high intellectual standard that I’ve always been drawn to intelligent people.”
“I know,” Joowon says simply, making Dongsik grin.
Joowon watches with curious eyes the way Dongsik reaches inside the pocket of his pants to take out his mobile phone. Dongsik taps on the messaging app and opens the most recent message he had just received a while ago, which is the reason why he had been looking for Joowon in the first place.
He holds up the screen for Joowon to see, and Joowon’s brows furrow as he reads the message.
Hey, just arrived here in Busan. Case in Seoul demanded overtime work. I’ll be checking in at the hotel later. Is there anything you’d like to go over with me before the ceremony tomorrow, as the officiant?
He sees the way Joowon’s gaze flickers up the screen to look at the name on Dongsik’s contacts—and his eyes widen.
BROTHER-IN-LAW
“Thanks to you, Han Joowon,” Dongsik tells him softly, “now I will never have to wonder what it’s like to be the brother of a brilliant lawyer.”
Dongsik is ready for it, catching him as Joowon crumples against him, the skin of Dongsik’s neck becoming wet with Joowon’s tears.
“Hyung is a poor replacement for Lee Yuyeon,” Joowon tells him with a warbled whisper.
“No one will ever replace her,” Dongsik murmurs as he strokes Joowon’s hair. “There will never be anyone in the world like Lee Yuyeon. But you also have to admit, Joowon-ah…”
Dongsik pulls back, and he tenderly brushes away the wetness from Joowon’s cheeks. “There will never be anyone in the world like Kwon Hyeok, either. And if it weren’t for you, Joowon-ah, I never would have known what it’s like to have a brother relentlessly fight for me, too. To fight for my right to love you.”
Joowon’s eyes flutter close as Dongsik reaches up to kiss his eyelids, tasting the salt of Joowon’s tears on his lips. “Joowon-ah,” Dongsik whispers. “You’re not the only who has gained a family.”
He brushes their noses gently together as Joowon looks at him once more, those beautiful eyes glistening the same way the Busan sea reflects the incoming moonlight.
“Because of you, Joowon-ah… I am a brother once again.”
—
“What the fuck are you doing here?”
“This is where I’ll be working now, too. Looks like it’s your first day as well. Who knew we’d be back working together in a place like this, eh?”
“You expect me to believe that your parole officer just happen to coincidentally assign you to The Community Safety and Traffic Bureau as a glorified janitor?”
“… I may have—suggested it.”
“So who really sent you here? Did Jihwa send you in here to be my handler, to make sure I don’t get into trouble?”
“Jihwa-ya doesn’t know that I’m here. I didn’t even know you’d be here either—although I guess I should’ve expected it.”
“Then why are you here? Because I don’t believe for a second that you’re here for no reason.”
“I’m not here for you, Dongsik-ah. I’m here for Han Joowon.”
“… What?”
“They hurt my friend. And no one gets away with hurting my friend. That’s why I’m here for the same reason you are.”
“And what reason would that be, Park Jeongje?”
“… Vengeance.”
—
“What are you doing here?”
The smile Jeongje gives him is small and hesitant as he stands and gives an unnecessarily polite bow. “I just arrived this morning. Joowonie—Inspector Han—invited me.”
“I know,” Dongsik says impatiently. “I meant—what are you doing here sitting at the back?”
Jeongje blinks at him.
Dongsik sighs. “Joowonie reserved a seat for you up front,” he gestures gruffly. “You’re his best man, you know.”
“I do know.”
Jeongje is still gazing at him contemplatively, and it’s making Dongsik feel antsy and unsettled. “What?” he bursts out.
This time, Jeongje’s smile turns wistful. “A long time ago, whenever the thought of you getting married used to cross my mind… I’d always imagine that I’d be your best man.”
Dongsik looks away. “Things… changed.”
Jeongje’s reply is soft. “I know.”
He’s already walked past Dongsik towards his designated seat before Dongsik is finally able to unstick the words stuck in his throat.
“Park Jeongje.”
He stops.
Dongsik swallows. “You can return the favor to Joowonie someday,” he says haltingly. “He can be the best man to your future wedding, too.”
He can be your friend now, because I can’t be.
Not anymore.
He sees the way Jeongje’s shoulders slump for a moment, before he suddenly straightens, seemingly bracing himself before he looks back at Dongsik.
His smile this time is bittersweet.
“The only girl I’ve ever wanted to marry is now at peace,” he tells Dongsik. “And I am content with seeing her brother finally have the happiness he deserves, too.”
By the time Dongsik remembers how to breathe, Jeongje has already taken his seat up front, where he is happily welcomed by Jihoon.
A hand on the small of his back grounds him—the soothing gesture as familiar as his own heartbeat. He relaxes into the touch, relieved and grateful. The smile he gets in return is fond.
“Your best man has finally arrived,” he informs Joowon softly.
“I see that he has,” Joowon murmurs in return, pulling Dongsik close. He allows Joowon’s assessing gaze on him, easing Joowon’s understandable concern and wordlessly assuring him that Jeongje’s presence is welcome. “Yours is the one who hasn’t arrived yet.”
At this, Dongsik snorts. “When they say women take a long time to get ready, they weren’t kidding.”
“Yah, the nerve of you to complain when I’m doing all of this for you, you punk!”
Dongsik turns at that familiar childhood tone with a grin, which transforms into a sincerely delighted smile when he sees her. “Well, would you look at that! Our resident tomboy is unexpectedly a stunner when cleaned up like this! …Ow!”
Dongsik ends up hopping on one foot, clutching his shin that has just been kicked. “Yah!” he complains loudly. “Those heels are pointy!”
Jihwa straightens, smoothing her figure-hugging long gown with her bejeweled hands, and turns to Joowon with a raised eyebrow.
Joowon’s mouth quirks in amusement. “You’d have to forgive my uncouth fiancé, Jihwa-ssi.” He smoothly takes her hand and kisses the back of it, European-style. “You do look enthrallingly lovely today.”
Jihwa visibly preens in pride, even as a delighted blush colors her cheeks. “See, Dongsik-ah?” she huffs. “That is how you compliment a woman.”
“Yah, what is this, Han Joowon-ssi? You’re not even married yet and you’re already flirting with someone who’s also already taken?”
Joowon turns to smirk at her. “I would never be foolish enough to presume that either you or Jihwa-ssi would ever have eyes for anyone else, given that you both already have the finest partner in each other.”
Dongsik stares. What?
Jaeyi’s smile is radiant, complemented by her elegant updo and the shimmering make-up that lights up her face. “Knows how to compliment women and intelligent to boot.” Jaeyi arches a perfectly plucked eyebrow at Dongsik. “You’re marrying up with this one, ahjussi. You know that, right?”
Dongsik has always been aware of that, yes.
He isn’t aware of this.
“Your seat is already reserved at the front as Dongsik’s best woman, Jihwa-ssi,” Joowon informs her with a smile. “And as Jihwa-ssi’s partner, your seat is of course reserved beside her, Jaeyi-ssi.”
Dongsik is openmouthed in shock as both women walk down the aisle—holding each other’s hands. “When did—” he sputters, “how did—”
Utterly gobsmacked, he looks despairingly at his husband-to-be—who only blinks innocently back at him.
“You knew?”
“You didn’t?” Joowon smirks. “Why do you think the jewelry I gifted them for this occasion were a matching set?”
Dongsik’s mouth opens and closes soundlessly for a moment. “Han Joowon,” he finally settles on, “how many secrets are you keeping from me?”
“None of it was a secret,” Joowon informs him wryly. “You were just blind and dense.”
“Yah!”
“Considering Joowonie here proposed to you three times before you finally had the mind to accept, Lee Dongsik-ssi, I definitely have to agree.”
Dongsik glares, suddenly being reminded that this is unfortunately one of the consequences of having a sibling. “I can get another officiant for today, you know.”
Hyeok smirks back at him. “No, you won’t.” He points at Joowon. “Your fiancé here already paid me to be here.”
“Your rates are exorbitant,” Joowon deadpans, making Hyeok grin as he claps a hand on Joowon’s shoulder.
“Looks like all your guests are already here,” Hyeok observes as he looks around the beachfront venue and glances at his wristwatch. “We can start the ceremony soon.”
“Not yet.”
Hyeok blinks at Joowon’s firm tone. He looks questioningly at Dongsik, who smiles serenely back at him.
“We’re waiting for a very special guest,” Dongsik explains.
Hyeok furrows his brows as he quickly goes over the notes in his hand. “I don’t see anyone in this guest list who isn’t here yet,” he mumbles to himself. He peers at Dongsik. “Just how important is this ‘special guest’ that we’re risking starting the ceremony late?”
“Very,” Dongsik answers enigmatically, grinning at the exasperated look Hyeok throws his way at his cryptic answer.
“We’ve only been able to confirm this guest’s presence last night,” Joowon reveals as he shares a meaningful look with Dongsik.
Hyeok looks back and forth between them. “Why so late, though?”
“It’s—” Jowoon hedges, “a spur of the moment invitation.”
Whatever frustrated protest Hyeok is about to say is derailed as their attention is caught by the doors to the venue suddenly opening.
Dongsik brightens. “He’s here!”
Hyeok’s mouth drops open in utter shock. “… Abeoji?”
Joowon seems to be holding his breath as the guest of honor approaches them, his remarkable presence filling the venue the way light fills a room. The man looks at Hyeok first—and then at Joowon.
His smile is warm and comforting—like the hearth of a home. “My sons,” he acknowledges simply.
Dongsik turns to Hyeok, who looks utterly shell-shocked. “Aren’t you going to introduce us?” Dongsik prompts him gently.
“I—” Hyeok swallows; it’s the first time Dongsik has ever seen the normally unflappable prosecutor this rattled. “I would like everyone to meet my father. Kwon Seungjo.”
The elderly man places a hand on his chest as he bows deeply, which everyone rushes to return. “Wholesale fruit provider, at your service,” Seungjo straightens with a twinkle in his eye. “Although I believe I was invited here to provide a different service.”
Hyeok looks completely panicked, both at being in the dark as the son and as the ceremony’s officiant, and Dongsik takes pity on him. “My family is Catholic,” he explains, “although I haven’t been a practicing Catholic for a long time.”
Hyeok looks at him in utter confusion; it seems like Dongsik’s explanation fails to clear anything up.
Thankfully, Joowon also steps up. “I, too, was baptized Catholic by my mother, as you already know,” Joowon says softly. “Dongsik and I talked last night, and we agreed that it is customary in the Catholic practice for the couple to have a godparent in their wedding ceremony.”
Joowon turns to Hyeok’s father and bows. “Kwon Suengjo-ssi—” he stops and quickly collects himself, “that is to say, abeoji—thank you, for agreeing to be our godfather.”
Hyeok’s eyes are wide as Joowon finally turns to him.
“I know that all of this is just ceremonial,” Joowon tells him softly. “But with abeoji as our godparent, this makes us—”
“—godbrothers,” Hyeok finishes breathlessly.
Joowon takes a deep a breath as he steps closer to Hyeok, who is looking at him like he has just performed a miracle. “A year ago, hyung, I was told that—in the hospital, you were not considered my family.”
Hyeok’s lips are quivering, his eyes glistening with tears that are starting to well up.
“I know that it is a long and arduous legal process, but…”
Joowon trails off as he meets Seungjo’s eyes, wordlessly asking for his approval.
Seungjo nods in assent, and Joowon swallows.
“As you know, my mother is deceased,” Joowon begins shakily, “and my father is serving several life sentences in prison. Which are both grounds for—”
“—adult adoption,” Hyeok finishes with a trembling smile. He turns to his father. “Really, abeoji?”
Dongsik’s heart feels like it’s swelling with the unabashed hope in Hyeok’s voice.
Seungjo claps a hand on Hyeok’s shoulder. “If there’s anyone smart enough and driven enough to make it happen, it’s you, my son.” Seungjo smiles at him. “You have always wanted a brother. Now, you can finally make that happen.”
Hyeok looks utterly devastated in the best way, and he squeezes his eyes shut before he once again turns to face—his brother.
“Joowon-ah,” Hyeok says, and it’s the only thing he can say, words completely failing him.
Joowon smiles at him softly. “Hyung.”
Dongsik looks back and forth at them, waiting, before he sighs in exasperation. He places a hand on the small of Joowon’s back and gives him a gentle but firm push.
Unprepared, Joowon stumbles forward—right into Hyeok’s arms.
“Hyung,” Joowon complains, awkwardly patting Hyeok’s back as Hyeok sobs onto his shoulder. “You’re ruining my tuxedo.”
“I’ll pay for the dry cleaning, you brat,” Hyeok returns without heat as he pulls back, smiling brilliantly at Joowon.
Joowon’s mouth quirks. “Does this mean I don’t have to pay you for your services anymore?”
Hyeok grins widely. “On the contrary, this just makes it easier for me to sue you when you don’t.”
Dongsik laughs as Joowon is once again hoisted into Hyeok’s bear hug much against his will, but he can clearly see that Joowon is smiling. He’s too distracted by the heartwarming sight that he hasn’t realized Seungjo has sidled up to him.
“Looks like you’re my son now, too.”
It’s that simple statement that knocks the breath off Dongsik’s lungs, striking straight through his heart like the bull’s eye of a gunshot.
And in that moment, the faces of Lee Hanoh and Nam Sangbae overlap with the smile Kwon Seungjo gives him as he says to Dongsik:
“You can tell Joowon that he doesn’t have to pay for the tangerines anymore.”
—
A beautiful piano piece begins to play, one that Dongsik recognizes by heart.
It’s one of his favorite pieces of Yuyeon’s original compositions, pre-recorded by Joowon playing the piece himself—the only person Dongsik will ever trust to interpret his sister’s music.
The guests all rise as they turn to face the two of them, the happiness for both of them clear on all of their faces.
“Thank you, Lee Dongsik,” Joowon tells him softly, “for giving me the family I never had.”
Dongsik looks ahead at the altar at the end of the aisle, where Kwon Hyeok and Kwon Suengjo are waiting for them.
His newfound brother—and father.
“And thank you, Han Joowon,” Dongsik returns, “for giving me back the family I lost.”
Joowon looks at him. Dongsik smiles.
He takes his hand—and they walk down the aisle together.

Once again dedicated to @eonni92, because I can never hope to make up for brilliance of her multiple gifts, but I can still try, to the best of my ability, to return her generosity—for no other reason than she truly deserves the world ❤️
This story is a direct sequel to ash, and exists in the same universe as the thing with feathers, leave out all the rest, circles, and the sentence. And while this story can be enjoyed on its own, perhaps the full impact can only be truly felt when the references to previous stories are known and understood.
To all of you who have followed the journey thus far: thank you for being in this journey of love, forgiveness, and acceptance with Lee Dongsik, Han Joowon, and our beloved Manyang family.

As soon as he heard what was going on ands he saw the small fairy flutter by he floated up and plucked the child from the air. Soothing the small one as he wiggled his hands and came back down to the ground. A small toy car appeared out of nowhere.
“Vroomvroom” Arthur said as he let the car fly around the fairy’s head and then handed the child the toy before handing child and toy over to the stranger who seemed to be in charge of said little one. “Hello! I believe this one belongs to you?”
Yongguk’s eyes widen as he watched the stranger float up into the sky like it was the most normal thing to do. “Well I guess that’s one way to get him down” His gaze followed him as he came back down to the ground, the sudden appearing of the toy car surprised Yongguk. He’s seen all kinds of mythical creatures but this was new for him he was very curious.
Yongguk’s smile grew turning into a true gummy smile as he took the child in his arms settling him on to his hip. “He doesn’t belong to me I just take care of him but seriously thank you! I’ve had to chase this little guy for blocks before.” With a playful glare he looked down at the kid and boooped his nose with his finger and it caused Jongwoo to giggle and hide his face in his neck. “But seriously thank you, I could use your help at the orphanage” His deep tone laugh rang into the air. He held out his hand out to the stranger. “I’m Bang Yongguk, it’s very nice to meet you.”

You saw him waiting by the car, eating a donut, and drinking a cold coffee, and you went up to the service counter, “Can I borrow your PA system to tell my husband that he is pregnant?” The man at the counter grinned and handed over the microphone, explaining how to use it.
“Park Jimin,” you said facing the forecourt - grinning watching him lookup, “I took a pregnancy test, we’re pregnant!”
You saw him drop everything before falling to his knees and crying, covering his head with his hands. “I love you.”
He got up and ran inside dodging cars. People were clapping happily, and he grabbed you, kissing you fiercely, his fingers brushing against your neck, and hooking his thumb under your soft collar.
“We did it, princess!” He sniffed.
“We did!”
“Am I going to finally be a dad?’
“You are.”
“I dropped my coffee!” He laughed, his cheeks glistening.
“One coffee for the father to be,” a man smiled. “I remember when my wife said we were pregnant, it is such a good feeling, so this one is on me”
Driving home his hand was in yours, and he would occasionally bring your hand to his face and kiss your knuckles, whispering how much he loved you. You had explained to him you mistook implantation bleeding with a period because you were stressed and tightly strung with thoughts of letting him down.
He told you that he would never want you to stress and that there was nothing you could do that would ever let him down. “Just you breathing, and in my life, means the world to me.
Jimin came home and received a hug and kiss from all the children, a few crying saying they missed him and he cried back. “Where did you go?”
“Well, DaddyJii had to buy mummy a special drink so she could have a baby,” Jimin smiled at the children.
“Don’t be silly, Daddy Goo told us how mummy has babies in her belly,” Jae Eun said.
“Yeah, he says mummy eats a special fish and then the fish swims around in her belly and changes like a tadpole,” Jae Hwa smiled proudly.
“Yes, well the special drink has the fish in it.” You smiled at them, not ready to explain the birds and the bees just yet - wanting to preserve their innocence for just a few more years.
“Does it tickle Ama?” Huimang asked, “The fishy in your belly?”
“Sometimes, but the fishy is too small to feel just yet. When the fish turns into a baby, you will be able to feel the baby move in my tummy.”
There was a big family celebration; you made a huge donation to the Femme rehabilitation organization and, honestly, had a really good pregnancy. The number one hashtag as you entered your ninth month was ‘#SugaTheMusicProducerAndBabyInducer’ which made said man pout and avoid you whenever he heard it in mock fear.
He had written a few songs boasting that any pregnant woman listening to his album may go into labour at the sound of his voice. You went live with your family talking about things and what you all planned to do as a family.
“We have shared our whole world with you and it has been so long. You, have seen our ups and downs, and we want to continue to show you everything until the end. Just recently, with my struggle with fertility, we realized we don’t want to hide all these natural things from the world.” You grimace at the camera, another cramp taking over. You were secretly timing them so as not to finish the livestream early.
“We were lucky to fall pregnant, but not everybody gets that chance, so we are so thankful and are giving a donation to the specific fertility group we went through who was absolutely lovely.” You knew that the contractions were slowly getting closer together, but you would rather stay in the comfort of your own home and keep yourself busy with a livestream than going and sitting in a hospital room bored - and uncomfortable - waiting to go into active labour and dilate.
“Someone asked if we will have any more children?” Seokjin was designated to read the comments.
“No, we are already blessed with so many we won’t be greedy. Plus, I’m getting older and there are more chances of complications the older I get, so I do not wish to push the limits of my health. I want to be around for my family for as many years as I can.”
“Have you thought of any names?” Seokjin genuinely seemed interested by this question.
“Many.” You smiled, “We don’t know the gender of our baby, so we haven’t really settled on one - but a few.”
“Have you had any weird cravings?” Jungkook read some comments over the older man's shoulder, and they all began discussing your weird eating habits.
“Yoongi, if you had to induce a baby what would you do? I am due today, and the baby doesn’t look like they’re coming any time soon.”
“Well, I would lean down and whisper, ‘alright little one, it’s time to get out or you can start paying rent,’” Yoongi laughed at your belly, rubbing it gently.
“No, I am determined to entice my own child out,” Jimin leaned down so he was cupping your belly, his lips almost brushing the fabric of your dress. “Come on now baby, daddy wants to meet you.”
You could laugh at the timing as your water broke, thanking the heavens you were shooting from the waist up. “Did…” Namjoon gasped in shock.
“Did you just pee?” Jungkook shouted
“No my water just broke.” You gripped your tummy, breathing through the pain while trying to stop the laughter.
You had all decided to take the audience with you. It was mostly the camera on the boys and a nervous looking Jimin who was doting on you in the ward. You were having a blast talking and laughing with the audience while Seokjin was texting Erik and Namjoon’s dad, trying to make sure the kids were all fine getting ready for bed.
You were taken up to the VIP labour ward and you were having a great time. Your audience was super supportive, and you said goodbye getting wheeled off to the birthing suite. This labour was the easiest - you were so experienced you knew all the cues, and your body relaxed understanding what you were supposed to do.
A little boy. He was tiny in Jimin’s hands and he kept saying thank you. “Thank you for giving me this opportunity, this miracle who I will cherish everyday, I love you both so much, I love you my princess”
He held him in his arms as they wheeled you back to the private ward where you met the others. Jimin hadn’t stopped crying and Taehyung, Hoseok, and Yoongi engulfed him in a hug. The live stream was still going on with a million-person audience waiting to see the baby.
“It’s a boy,” Jimin said, “and we both agreed his name would be Byul.”
You were happy and the boys grinned. You all looked up at the camera and waved, signing off - spending the time alone together. The nurse came in, “We have to check the baby's hearing and heart and take a full screen of his blood. All routine stuff.”
Jimin nodded, taking the baby in his arms and following the nurse. It wasn’t a long process, but when Jimin didn’t come back you started to get worried. You visibly began stressing the blankets. “What is taking so long?” your laugh was forced and there was little semblance of a joke.
“It’s okay, there are other babies. maybe they are waiting on another?”
Jimin stepped in and he was crying holding his son preciously in his hands, as if holding him too tightly could hurt the newborn. “Byul might be deaf, they will have to um, check him again soon.”
“What do you mean?”
“They said it could just be fluid in his ear, but they will check again in a few hours,” Jimin sniffed.
Upon the second third and fourth hearing test, it was almost clear that Byul was partially deaf. He could hear a little, but the doctor explained it would forever be super muffled. That didn’t mean he couldn’t recognize your voices, though. He still could just hear, and you were fine with that - any hearing was a blessing at that point.
You headed home, and Jimin took leave from work. He spent time caring for his son and even signed up for classes on sign language. Everyone went to the classes together and began learning, as it would be easier if you all learnt early.
Byul was not a typical happy baby spending most of his time crying - it was mostly due to the fact he scared easily. Being unable to hear when you were there, Byul would call for you and you would press your lips to his forehead and against his skin so he knew you were there. The vibrations running through his body.
He loved when you would do this but especially enjoyed Taehyung’s deep rumbling voice, it made him giggle.
He learnt cues differently. Instead of mum and dad, you taught him to touch his cheek in certain ways for these words. He wasn’t a shy baby, but he still only made a few noises. He was quick to learn how to walk and run and play.
Jeongsan was so good at sign language, he was quick to tell you what byul needed and took it upon himself to help his younger brother where he could.
You were still learning, and you had a discussion with the boys about your channel and what you should do. It was a mutual agreement that you would make your final broadcast that evening before a hiatus - which you didn’t know when or if you would come back.
It was a rainy afternoon, and Byul sat on your lap on the back porch, watching the rain and lighting and feeling the thunder shake the sky.
He laid back in your arms, and you sang to him and signed in front of him to sing along. He tried his best, his voice sweet like his father’s, and you did the signs the whole song.
His little gold hearing aids helped him out so much, but he sometimes preferred to not wear them, as he didn’t always like the feeling.
“My son,” you signed with a big bright smile “I love you.”
“Mama love you,” he answered, repeating your gesture as big as he could and you laughed hugging him tightly.
You all had just posted your live stream as a family saying you were going on hiatus. You felt like you wanted to cry, walking towards the kitchen to make yourself a calming cup of tea. When Kyungju asked, “Ate you okay mum?”
Turning, you looked at your family all looking back at you, all your beautiful children smiling at you, and then there were your husbands.
All looking beautiful. Seokjin still with a gentle smile, Yoongi looking impassive and yet now you could see the emotions in his eyes. Jungkook with the same bunny toothed smile, and thirteen years washed away like you were falling in love with them all over again. They stood in front of you just like they had that day, eyes bright and curious and you smiled. Speaking clearly in English while signing so every member of your family knew what you were saying.
“I love you.”
Everything was good, until I completed everything ready to post. I attached the last header for the last time and I just sobbed. Saying goodbye to this story is the hardest thing, I have experienced to this day. It was one of my safe havens a world I created to escape all the bad and well it has reached its happy ending.
Thank you for joining me on this journey.
Ever your Jester.

You were balancing a tray of drinks in one hand and clutching a pile of books in the other as you weaved your way through the somewhat crowded cafe. The five boys were seated in their usual seats at the back corner. You stood awkwardly at the end of their table mentally shifting your weight between your arms, trying to decide what to put down first. Luckily Yeonjun and Taehyun noticed your struggle and were quick to take the stack of books from your arm. You gave them a nod of thanks as you placed their drinks down in front of them. "Thank you noona!" they chorused "If I was actually your sister I would be telling you guys to stop drinking this junk every day." You said with a laugh "If you guys need anything you know where to find me" You ruffled Yeonjun's hair and he groaned swatting your hand away while the others laughed.
You quickly made your way back to the front of the cafe, dropping the tray onto the counter. Leaning on it with a tired sigh, You rubbed your hands over your face. The phone rang, You and Jungkook looked at each other before shoving each other to get there first. He stuck his tongue out at you as he answered it “Bomnal Cafe, may I take your order?” he brought his attention to whoever was on the other side. You leaned against the counter watching as he messily wrote down the order, before hanging up. Ripping the paper from the pad, he waved it in front of your face as he walked past you, to Seokjin to give him the order. "Hey Y/N, you better not ditch us for those rich people now that you’re going to Huimang” Kook jabbed his finger toward you.
“Oh trust me, if I ever choose them over you guys you have every right to pour that over my head” You nodded toward the coffee that Jin was making. He gave you a look of concern before continuing with his work. "If anyone messes with you, I swear I'll fight them" Kook jokingly assured you. Yoongi and You both looked at each other before laughing "Thanks I'll keep that in mind" You patted his back hard as you walked past, to serve one of the customers. "Seriously though, you should be careful, I heard that B4 literally rule that school" Jin warned "I’ve heard they're dangerous. They've done things to drive people to drop out just to get away from them."
Kook tilted his head curiously at Jin's words, pulling out his phone, most likely to search up who they were. The older boy stopped working and you and Yoongi leaned in to listen to him "Apparently everyone at that school will do anything to kiss ass to B4. Anyone who gets a red card becomes a target for the whole school and it doesn't stop unless they leave, die, or B4 themselves declare an end, which is yet to happen" You couldn't help but shake your head at how nonsense that sounded. Obviously, a school as prestigious as Huimang wouldn't let even their most powerful students treat people like that. “You think I’m joking?” Jin asked, noticing your reaction. You simply nodded with an amused expression at how serious he was about this.
“The members of the well-known B4, who are currently students at Huimang Highschool are, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung, Kim Namjoon, and Jung Hoseok” Kook read off his phone. You rushed over to him grabbing his arm to look at his phone screen “Park Jimin is the only son and heir of Yojeong Tech. Kim Taehyung is a young artist and photographer, the son of the former president of The Teugiseong Group. Not much is known of Kim Namjoon after the car accident that killed his parents, the founders of The Kim Corporation, he was hidden away from the public eye.” Jungkook scrolled to the bottom “Last but not least we have Jung Hoseok. The heir to Jung Industries, one of the biggest companies in Asia." Jin groaned "Stop that" it was his turn to shake his head, taking the phone from Kook's hand and stuffing it into his pocket. “Seriously, Y/N, Please just promise me you’ll be careful. Especially of Hoseok, who knows what could happen if you get on his bad side”, he held out his pinky to you. Sighing in defeat you linked your finger with his. After that, the topic of your new school was forgotten as you all went back to work.
The flow of customers started to wind down as the afternoon turned into evening and soon after your shift had ended. Kook offered to walk you home, not that it was far, but because his parents weren’t home and he knew your mom would invite him for dinner. You shake your head in amusement at his request but gladly agreed. Linking your arm with his, walking down the street to your family's flower shop together. The lights were still on as your mom was just closing up shop. The bell above the door rang as you and Kook entered, catching your mother's attention. "Ah, Y/N, Jungkook!" she greeted you both "Just in time" She quickly rushed past both of you to lock the doors of the shop. "Your dad should be almost done cooking dinner. Jungkook, since you're already here, why don't you stay for dinner" Jungkook glanced over at you with a huge smile on his face, nodding at her offer. You rolled your eyes, punching his arm playfully. Taking his hand you quickly dragged him up the stairs to your family's apartment, directly above the shop. As soon as you entered you were hit with the strong smell of food. "Hi Dad, I'm home. Jungkook's here too" you pointed toward your friend who you had literally dragged into the house. You all gathered around the small table that was covered in food. Kook didn’t even wait before he started stuffing his face. You laughed at him, you and your parents suddenly focused more on watching him eat than actually eating yourselves.
After dinner, Jungkook left, satisfied with freeloading off your parents’ cooking. “Are you ready for tomorrow?” your mother asked as you were busy washing the dishes. All you could do was shrug earning a sigh “You don’t have to go. It’s not like we’re paying for it” she nudged your arm, half-joking. “I’m not going to throw away a scholarship to a school like Huimang just because I’m nervous,” You told her, just as you finished cleaning the dishes. “I’m going to sleep, Jin’s driving me to school tomorrow” You quickly excused yourself from the conversation, disappearing into your room. The more you thought about it the more nervous you were about Huimang. Especially after what Jin had told you. That night you went to sleep despite the anxiety.
The next morning wasn’t any better. The heavy, weight of nervousness hung over you as you got up. Your hand gently touched the fabric of your uniform, as if you were scared to ruin it. The sound of a message on your phone was the only thing that snapped you out of your trance. Jin’s name flashed across the screen and you sighed finally finding the energy to get dressed. As soon as you’d put on the uniform it felt foreign. Sighing once more you looked at yourself in the mirror, straightening out your clothes, despite it not being out of place. Your anxiety was already getting the best of you and you were starting to fidget to try to calm yourself. Jin’s name flashed across your phone screen with another message. Grabbing your bag you rushed down the stairs of your apartment, shyly and discreetly saying goodbye to your parents as you ducked out through the flower shop.
Jin was already waiting in his car outside. “Before you ask, yes I am positive I’m doing this. And No, I’m not going to let you talk me out of it” You said before he could even get a word out. He quickly closed his mouth and started driving without another word. Both of you sat in silence the entire drive there, which was unusual for either of you, as when you were together nothing could stop you from talking. But now it was nothing but a tense silence, thick enough to cut with a knife. Jin was obviously worried for you, you could feel his overprotectiveness radiating off of him. You, on the other hand, were extremely nervous, and your best friend could tell even before you got into his car. After what felt like an eternity you finally spoke up. “I already promised you I’ll be careful.” you reminded him. “I know” he sighed, “It’s not you that I’m worried about-” He started “It’s B4” you finished his sentence earning a small nod in response as he pulled up in front of Huimang.
Jin grabbed your arm before you could open the door and you looked at him “I’ll be ok Jinnie” you spoke softly, trying to reassure him and now, yourself. He gave you a look and you laughed shyly “You know I love you right? But sometimes you worry too much” you teased smiling at him, finally getting him to drop his worried expression, instead, a soft smile spread across his face. “I love you, too” he kissed your forehead and smiled wider at you, before finally letting you get out of the car. You watched him drive away before spinning around and taking in the school building in front of you. It suddenly felt like you were in another world, the fact that you were standing in front of Huimang Highschool, about to start your first day as a student was unbelievable. Letting out a nervous breath you walked up the stairs into the building. You felt extremely out of place as you wandered, somewhat aimlessly, through the corridor trying to find your locker.
You ended up stumbling upon the school’s massive, and impressive library which was empty, other than the boy who sat at a table in the back corner, alone. His attention completely focused on the book in front of him, concentration spread across his features. You must’ve been staring for a bit too long cause his attention shifted from the book to you, looking up at you. You gasped quietly and quickly turned away as he looked at you. Literally running out to save yourself from embarrassment.
After a few more minutes of wandering, you finally managed to find your locker. As you were putting your stuff away someone shouted from downstairs and everyone started running down the steps, some bumping you as they did. A crowd forming by the stairs and around the door. Curious and confused you leaned over the railing to see what was going on. Four boys were walking into the building, silence fell upon the building, the crowd parting in the middle for them to walk through. You didn't even need to look for very long to figure out who they were. It was B4 the very group Jin had warned you to be wary of. A quiet gasp echoed through the room when they all suddenly stopped walking.
The one at the front, who you recognized from the article Kook showed you as Jung Hoseok, looked at one of the male students and everyone nearby backed away from him. The poor kid was literally shaking just from B4’s stares. Hoseok reached out for the bottle in the boy’s hand, which he quickly surrendered. He then began to slowly pour it over the boy’s head, you couldn’t help but feel shocked at what was unfolding in front of you. No one was trying to stop Hoseok and no one was trying to help the other boy. The sound of the empty bottle clattering onto the floor was almost deafening from the silence that had fallen upon the crowd again. Then just like that, the four boys walked away like it was nothing and the crowd quickly dispersed.
"Jin was right, they are insane," You said mostly to yourself. Someone clears their throat behind you making you turn around. The three girls were all looking at you with disgust "You're not talking about B4 are you?" the one at the centre scoffed "You shouldn't disrespect them like that" the other girls nodded at her statement. "Who are you supposed to be?" You shot back in the same mocking tone. The girl stepped closer to you and you were able to read the name on her ID. Cho Narae, the other two you still had to figure out. "You don't know us, but we know everything about you" Narae jabbed her finger at you "And if you keep talking about B4 like that, we'll make sure to make your life hell" she threatened, shoving your shoulder.
You didn't say anything as they walked away, only scoffing and crossing your arms at how obnoxious you found them. Clearly, they were just overzealous fangirls of the four boys, who seem to have the entire school wrapped around their fingers. It frustrated you, so much. That's how you ended up on the roof screaming your thoughts at the sky. "Damn it! Jin was right! I’ve barely been here for twenty minutes. Everyone sucks! Everyone at this school thinks they can do whatever they want." You slammed your hand against the concrete ledge. "You know, you really shouldn't be talking shit about other people" you searched for the source of the voice only to see the boy from the library, leaning against the wall reading the same book from earlier. He shut the book and pushed himself off the wall. Now that he was in front of you, without his glasses, you recognised him. "I- You're- It's-" you stumbled over your words and struggled to speak, cringing at yourself. Namjoon smiled slightly at how flustered you got before disappearing down the stairs. You sighed loudly before heading back inside.
You managed to survive the first half of your day. It went by without any other incident, other than Narae and her friends constantly watching you like a hawk. Lunch came around and you were lost once again. You were sitting alone at a table in the back of the cafeteria knowing no one wanted you at their table. "Is this seat taken?" A voice asked softly, pointing at the chair across from you. Surprised and unable to speak from the food in your mouth you nodded slowly. She smiled at you and happily sat down "I'm Ko Byeol" she introduced herself "I saw you wandering around this morning. And you didn't talk to anyone in class. I felt bad seeing you all by yourself" She explained still with a smile on her face.
You swallowed your food before smiling shyly at her with a nod "Thank you" you mumbled "I'm Hwang Y/N" you introduced yourself. Narae and her friends strutted by your table purposely trying to catch your attention. A sigh of annoyance followed as you watched them take a seat nearby, near enough for you to hear them talking. “Hey, ignore them” Byeol placed her hand on your arm, prying your attention away from the three girls. “The food here isn’t that good anyway, I know a better place. Come on” She didn’t give you a chance to argue before dragging you from your seat and out of the cafeteria. Before we could even get out of the cafeteria she ran into someone, spilling whatever they were holding all over their shirt “What the fuck!”. Byeol stepped backwards away from Hoseok. “Oh my god. I’m so sorry. It was an accident.” she bowed.
A crowd had now gathered nearby. They were all clearly ready to watch another person’s social standing get ripped to shreds. Hoseok stepped toward Byeol but you stepped in front of her. “She knows what you can do to her. She knows that it was her fault. She already apologised.” You defended “If apologies worked, why would we need the police?” Hoseok stepped toward you but you didn’t move. “I wish I could say it’s so that people like you could learn right from wrong. But clearly, you’re hopeless,” you replied without a second thought. A gasp echoed through the crowd at your lightning fast comeback. His expression didn’t change but you could tell he was fuming. “Who are you to talk to me like that?” he spat. You huffed “A nobody with nothing for you to destroy” you bumped his shoulder as you walked past him. You didn’t see it but Namjoon was watching you walk away, covering his mouth as he laughed quietly.
Byeol ran after you as you stormed out of the cafeteria. “Do you have any idea what you just did?” She practically screamed at you. “Yeah. I was standing up against an asshole with an over-inflated ego. Thanks for asking” You simply shrugged. “Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my fucking god.” She checked over her shoulder before dragging you into the bathroom. She quickly shut the door and locked it. “You’re shitting me right?” she literally grabbed you by your shoulders, shaking you. “They are going to destroy you!”. You rolled your eyes and pushed her off. “I’d love to see them try. I’m not afraid of a bunch of rich boys with nothing else to do with their lives”
Byeol didn’t try to stop you from leaving, she just stood there scared for you. You went outside to clear your head before your next class. It was only your first day and it was already a mess. You had to push through a bunch of people to reach your locker. It was hard to ignore the whispers as they all watched you. Thinking nothing of it you opened your locker, everyone gasping and whispering. The red card fell to the floor, landing at your feet. You simply shrugged it off and grabbed what you needed before slamming your locker shut. You kicked the card across the floor as you left. You could feel people staring at you as you walked the halls, pointing and talking in hushed whispers. Everyone would fall silent when you entered a classroom, all of them watching you intently.
When you reached your desk you noticed it was covered in snack wrappers and garbage. Rolling your eyes you simply dragged the garbage by your desk and cleaned it up, without making a fuss. The room was still silent, and everyone’s attention was still on you. You slowly sat down in your seat, instantly regretting as a cold sticky liquid started soaking through your skirt. There was barely any time for you to process that as something was poured over your head. “We told you not to mess with B4. This is what you get” Narae and her two minions surrounded your desk, dropping a now empty can of soda into your lap. Everyone burst out laughing as you quickly stood up. You ran out of the classroom running into the nearest bathroom. You could feel tears in your eyes, but it wasn’t because you were upset or sad, you were pissed. Jin was right and you were dumb for not listening to him. Who knew your first day of school could go this wrong?
The sound of the faucet as you attempted to wipe the stickiness off your skin drowned out the sound of other people entering the bathroom. Sighing in defeat you gave up staring at yourself in the mirror. Only then did you realise you weren’t alone anymore. “You’re not allowed to be in here,” You said while looking at the two boys through the mirror. “The rules don’t matter when you got the red card” one of them mocked, tilting his head at you.

The tick of the clock echoes in your ears, keeping your attention every time it starts to drift to other things. Most notably, the tests in front of you that you’re supposed to be grading while the class continues their busywork - which definitely aren’t some random worksheets you found in one of your online teacher groups, no matter what Hana in the classroom next door says, thank you very much.
Still, your kids are all behaving surprisingly well for a Friday afternoon; you’re the only antsy one in the room, apparently. You glance around again at the twenty-something collection of five year olds, each of them as dedicated to the task of coloring a flower according to numbers as the next. Their focus and concentration is admirable, especially considering they’re usually going absolutely wild around this time at the thought of going home and enjoying the weekend.
You’re just as apprehensive as they usually are, ready to leave the school where you teach and relax in your home for the night. It’s not ideal, since your boyfriend is still off doing his military service. That’s the thing you’re so excited about, though; he’s supposed to be coming back next week, and you’re on a mission to finish redecorating the bedroom you share. It’s a mess right now, your bed’s sitting in the middle of the living room, your dresser and nightstands in the center of your bedroom with paint cans and shelving unit parts everywhere else, but it’s going to look fantastic when you’re done.
You just have to finish it by the time he comes home next week.
“Miss, I need help!”
You stand and smile at the young girl who’s called you over; Huimang is your best friend’s daughter, and you love her more than nearly anything else in your life. She’s adorable, and she never fails to cheer you up at work.
The door opens while you’re helping her, and you don’t bother turning. It’s probably the principal, come to check on the classrooms as Seokjin is wont to do at the end of each week; instead you continue rifling through trying to help her find the right blue crayon for her Artistic Vision. It’s not until the class falls eerily quiet and Huimang’s eyes grow wide with joy that you finally turn.
Of all the things you could expect to see - Seokjin with his clipboard, maybe Hoseok with cupcakes for Huimang’s upcoming birthday, even your best friend Tae bringing in an impromptu art class - none of them can compare to the sight before you.
His hair is shorter, as per usual, and his muscles are more prominent than you remember, but the smile is as familiar as breathing, and his eyes still turn into crescent moons, and it’s been entirely too long since you’ve seen him.
“You...” Words swirl in your head as you stand from the crouch you’re in. You don’t ever look away, too afraid this is another dream you don’t want to wake up from. “You’re not supposed to be back for another week.”
“I know,” Jimin says, laughter in his eyes. “I wanted to surprise you.”
“But...the room isn’t finished yet, I thought-” Tears burn at the backs of your eyes, threatening to spill over with every second. “I thought I was gonna have more time.”
“I can always go and come back when you’re ready,” He says, taking a single step back toward the door. You rush at him, wrapping your arms around him and holding him so tight that your knuckles turn white.
“No, you’re not going anywhere,” You tell him, sniffling as you bury yourself in the familiar scent of him. “Never again.”
“Never again,” He agrees. He clears his throat a little, patting your back gently. “I think Huimang has a question for you, though, sweetheart.”
You pull back, wiping unshed tears from your eyes before you pull back just enough to turn around. You’re speechless when you see all of your kids lined up, helping each other hold up four large signs with a familiar phrase on them.
When you whirl back around to look at Jimin, he’s already on one knee, small black box open in his hand.
“Never again, sweetheart.”

Non-Spicy Silken Tofu Stew
Did you ever want to try the Korean silken tofu stew called sundubu jjigae, but you were afraid it would be too spicy? If so, then this is for you. 🙂 I’m back with a non-spicy sundubu jjigae version. Even though it doesn’t look as appetizing without the red-colored broth, it is still full of flavor and just as delicious as the other versions. You can also learn how to use rice water in your kitchen and see a short clip of me enjoying this. So, let’s get started.
Yield: 2 Servings
Short Korean Lesson
희망 (HuiMang) = Hope
절망 (JeolMang) = Despair
Video Instructions
Main Ingredients:
1 Pack Silken Tofu
1 Cup Rice Water
1 Cup Zucchini
½ Cup Onion
¼ Cup Green Onions
¼ Cup Hot Pepper (Optional)
1 Egg
½ Tbsp Sesame Oil
1 tsp Salted Shirimp
1 tsp Fish Sauce
1 tsp Minced Garlic
Some Black Pepper
Directions
We need 1 cup worth of zucchini, ½ cup worth of an onion, and ¼ cup worth of green onions. These are all the vegetable ingredients that you need, but if you want to give it some spiciness, you can add about ¼ cup of fresh hot peppers.
Chop the zucchini into thin fan shape pieces. Then cut the onion into ¼-inch slices, the green onion into 1-inch pieces, and the hot peppers into ¼-inch pieces.
Prepare 8 medium-sized raw shrimp (peeled) and ¼ cup of clams without shells.
Use a clay pot for this stew if you have one. Of course, you can use a normal pot too. Preheat your pot and add ½ Tbsp of sesame oil in it.
Put the zucchini and onion into the heated pot. Then fry them for about 3 minutes on high.
Here, we need to have an important ingredient for today’s recipe. It is 1 cup of rice water. (You can see more details about it in the video.)
Pour the rice water in the pot and continously cook it on high. It will take some time to bring it back to boil, so meanwhile you can prepare the other ingredients.
Get 1 pack of Korean silken tofu. You can also use the normal silken tofu that you can find in a grocery store.
You can just add the tofu straight into the broth, but I like to break it up before I add it into the stew to get smaller chunks. It is up to you.
Once the broth starts to boil again, add the tofu into the broth.
Now we will season the broth with the rest of the ingredients. First, a key flavoring ingredient for the broth is salted shrimp. It is a useful ingredient to have for making Korean food, so I recommend that you get some if you cook Korean food often. Once you open it, store it in the freezer.
Add 1 tsp of salted shrimp, 1 tsp of fish sauce, and 1 tsp of minced garlic. Cook it for about 5 minutes on high. If you don’t have the salted shrimp, you can replace it with fish sauce.
Break 1 egg and whisk it gently. After 5 minutes, slowly add 1 beaten egg into the soup. You don’t have to stir it – just let it cook for about 1 minute.
After 1 minute, add the green onions and then cook 1 more minute. Here, if you want, add the spicy hot pepper with your green onions. I will add them for mine today. 🙂
For the final touch, sprinkle some black pepper on top before serving. The soft tofu gets nice savory flavor from the seafood ingredients and this makes for a hearty stew for cold days. Try it someday.
Aeriskitchen’s tips
When you wash rice before cooking it, what do you normally do with the milky rice water? Most of the time, it just gets thrown away. But I want to share some useful tips on how Koreans use that rice water. I do not use the water from the first washing, but from the second batch, you can save some of the rice water and use it.
First, the rice water can be used as a great broth for Korean soups such as sundubu jjigae like today, or 된장찌개, 김치 찌개, 미역국 etc. It helps to enhance the flavor of the soup.
Second, you can soak some fish in the rice water for about 30 minutes before cooking it. It helps to get rid of any strong fishy smells or flavors.
Third, you can use it for watering your plants. You do not have to do it every day, but you can do this every now and then to give your plants some nutrition.
Lastly, since Korean food uses a lot of garlic, the food can have a strong smell (like kimchi). The best way to store your kimchi is by using glass containers. However, if your plastic containers get the unpleasant smell of the garlic or something else from your Korean food, you can use rice water to help get rid of any bad smell. Pour the rice water in your cleaned container and let it sit overnight. You will smell the improvement.
Did you enjoy my non-spicy sundubu jjigae and special tips? Please don’t forget to subscribe to my channel and give me a big thumbs up.
Thank you for watching and see you next time. 🙂
Bye.

“I think we got one too many plants Joon,” you say, holding one pot in each arm, with a smaller one in between. You and Namjoon had finally went home after your plant date. The two of you standing in front of your front door. “We really just need one for each of us.”
Namjoon, with one extra plant in his hand shakes his head. “You can never have enough honestly. Plus, these are perfect! They’re low maintenance plants.”
“I guess… Well.. Can you open the door for me?” You motioned to your bag for him to get the keys when the doors suddenly shot open.
“You’re back! Great!” Yuna yells, grabbing the plants from you.
“O-oh, okay..” you say, confused by her sudden motions.
“Byul your boyfriend is here!” Yuna yells behind her. As Byul came running to the door, Yuna handed her the plants. She then suddenly hooks her arms into yours and starts to pull you away from your house.
“Wait-- what? Where are we going?” You ask, stumbling down the hallways of your apartment building.
“Have you eaten yet? Did Namjoon take you out to eat? You look hungry.” Yuna laughs as she stares at your confused state.
“No.. I have not and he did not and I am,” you answered with a laugh. “I honestly haven’t been gone that long for everyone to suddenly be so different. Like not really different, but just weird..”
“Well it’s a weird day,” she laughs. “Let’s go feed you, we have a long night ahead.”
-
Jungkook’s eyes widen as he sees you and Yuna running to her car. They had just gotten to the parking garage and Jungkook hoped so hard that you won’t recognize his car or your parent’s car.
Yuna seemed to have noticed and she pulled you to her car faster. Jungkook couldn’t help but laugh at the face you were making.
“Look mom, that’s going to be my wife,” he says, pointing to you from the inside of his car. Admiration written all over his face.
-
“You know, I much rather us order food so we can all eat together at home while we wait for Jungkook,” you say as Yuna drives to who knows where.
“Yeah, we could, but it could be a while until he gets home,” she says, making excuses. “Besides, I miss hanging with my bestie,” she pouts.
You smile at her, “Aww you missed me?” She rolls her eyes.
“Duh.”
“Well I missed all of you,” you say. “Some a little more than others..”
“You two really can’t be separated huh?” she says. You quirk an eyebrow up at her.
“Me and Mingyu?” She laughs at your answer.
“I thought you were talking about Jungkook,” she laughs. “Not my son.”
“I’m kidding,” you laugh along with her. “Yeah, I guess we can’t. Well, for me at least. I can’t go long without him. I don’t know if he feels the same.”
“And why would you say that?” Yuna turns to you with a worried look.
“With our time gone, he never showed that he cared I guess? About me at least.. That I know of,” you answer. “Like right now, he knows me and Sian are back home while he’s out with his friends and he didn’t drop them to come to us the second he heard.” You caught Yuna smirk a little.
“What?” you laugh awkwardly.
“Hm? I didn’t say anything..” she says, turning away from you.
“You just smirked,” you say, smiling. “I’m trying to pour my heart out here.”
“Well I can assure you that he’s SUPER happy that you’re here. Something probably happened that’s keeping him from coming home right away.”
“Like what?”
“Why don’t you call him Yn? You wanted to talk to him right? Everyone’s back at your house, just for tonight. Let’s spend that time having fun. Get what you have to say to him out now.”
“But I wanted to talk to him face to face..”
“Facetime exists?”
You purse your lips, pulling out your phone.
Without hesitation, you clicked on Jungkook’s contact name and began calling him.
-
“SHE’S FACETIME CALLING ME,” Jungkook yells in a panic. He was sitting on the couch, with Sian cuddled into his side.
“AnsweR IT??” Taehyung says, looking at him as if he was dumb. Which was ironic, because he was sitting on the floor with all of his nieces putting makeup on him. With the over lined lips and blue eye shadow all over his eyebrows, you can’t say Jungkook’s the dumb looking one.
“I’M SCARED,” Jungkook says, breathing heavily all of a sudden.
“It’s just mommy,” Sian says, reaching for the phone.
“Jungkook go change out of your suit first! She’s going to wonder,” Sohyun yells, right when Sian answers the call.
“AH, SIAN!” Jungkook yells. Almost instantly, pushing him off and running to your room.
“Sian?” you say as the call was finally answered. “Is daddy home?”
“Yes! We’re waiting for you and auntie Yuna to come back, daddy came when you two left,” Sian admits.
“Oh did he?”
“Yes! Mommy please come home!” he excitedly yells, “everyone’s here! Even gra--” Before Sian can finish his sentence and expose the plan, Jungkook takes the phone from him.
“Hey, sorry, was doing something,” he says, taking his phone to your shared room. “What’s up?”
Yuna looks over at your phone and smirks.
“Nothing, I just wanted to talk to you,” you say. “I.. I missed you.. That’s all. I was hoping to meet you at home when we got back so we can talk, you know, to fix things, but you weren’t there. But somehow everyone was,” you laugh. “I just wanted to say.. That I want us to go back to how we used to be. I’m okay with your friends, maybe I could even join you guys sometimes.. I just don’t want you to forget about us because you’re so caught up with them. I don’t want you to lose them either since they’re good friends of yours and you lost them once--”
“Yn,” Jungkook interrupts. “A lot of things happened while you were away,” he says. You started to worry about what he was about to say next, but you nod for him to continue.
“I won’t be hanging out with the friends that drove you two away. It’s a long story, but my hyungs came when they were over.. And long story short, they thought the best things to ever happen in my life was a mistake and I highly disagree with them on that. They hated you and Sian, and I can’t be friends with people who won’t give you two a chance. So don’t worry, everything will go back to normal.. Somewhat,” he chuckles to himself. “Not really, but yeah.”
Yuna laughs beside you and you turn to her, scrunching your brows.
“Anyways, a lot of things will change tonight,” he says. “I’m never letting you go again.”
“I love this so much,” Yuna says. You turn to her again.
“Why do I feel like something’s going on that everybody knows about but me?” you say, making the two laugh. “What else happened while I was gone?”
“I’ll tell you more later, just come home,” Jungkook says. “I missed you baby.”
-
*After getting food with Yuna*
“Shoot, I forgot something in the car,” Yuna says, stopping right at your front door.
“What was it?” You ask, “I can go get it.” Yuna’s face lights up.
“Perfect! Here,” she hands you the keys to her car, “the drink in the cup holder, Jimin’s going to get upset if he thinks I forgot.”
“Okay, I’ll meet you inside. Here’s the keys.”
-
Holding Jimin’s drink in one hand, you reach out to turn the door knob. It was locked. You frown, leaning in to the door. Surprisingly, it was so quiet.
You ring the door bell anyways, waiting for someone to open the door for you. You were excited to reunite with everyone. You were finally complete. Especially your little family.
The door suddenly creaks open but you see no one behind it.
“I got Jimin’s drink,” you called out, pushing the door open.
“Hi mommy!” Sian yells up at you. Your face lights up at the sight of your baby. He was dressed up, holding a single tiger lily. “For you,” he says, holding up the flower. You reach out to grab it from him.
“Thank you baby, what for?” You ask, before he could answer, Moonji runs up to you and Sian runs off.
“For you auntie,” she says, handing you another tiger lily. You thought nothing much of it except the kids being sweet. Next thing you knew, Hana was running to you, then Huimang, then Youngjae, then Minseok, Soojin, even Haneul and Mingyu!
“I’ll trade you this for that,” Jimin says, handing you another flower, whilst reaching for his drink.
“What’s going on?” you ask him.

wishlist
characters: Yoongi x OC!Sohyun and Hana [ft. Yuna and Hoseok, mentions Huimang, Hana’s friends, and Taehyung(the group as well)]
genre: family and fluff
request: [anon] Hi there! My suggestion for the drabble series is maybe Hana puts down getting a baby brother/sister on her birthday wish list, and neither she nor Yoongi knows that Sohyun is already pregnant, so Sohyun gets to surprise her husband and daughter? 💛
a/n: hana is turning eight here (WEIRD.) i know it’s a big age gap, but she turned four in daddy diaries and she was seven by the end of the tmbmil series asdfghjkl this is assuming jungkook and rina got married right after taeyang was born and yoongi proposed right after their wedding and then got married in a few months and then hana’s birthday rolls around after and sohyun is already pregnant by then : D also my sister and i are seven years apart so it’s not tHaT bad~
➳➳➳➳➳➳➳
Hana’s birthday was nearing and it was always a special time for the couple.
Not only is it almost their daughter’s special day, but also the anniversary of the first time they met and the anniversary of the bakery’s opening.
Hana was only three when she came crashing into the grand opening of 24/7 Heaven, meeting Sohyun for the very first time. She was looking for the perfect birthday cake then. Now, four years later, the bakery owner became Hana’s mom and the wife of her dad. Yoongi and Sohyun got married not too long ago.
He proposed to her in the most perfect way actually.
A cake, made by him and Hana, with the words ‘will you marry me’ written on top.
So it was a special time. It’s their first meet-aversary as a married couple. The bakery was having an event for it’s fourth birthday. And of course, it was the start of getting Hana’s wishlist checked off.
As always, she had the general wishes.
As she got older, they started to change more and more.
“Have you done your list yet?” Yoongi asks his daughter, peeking into her room. Hana scrambles out of her bed, where she was reading a book, and goes over to her desk.
“I finished it last night, I forgot to give it to you,” she said, pulling out the list from under her other books. “Here you go daddy. Do you and mommy need any help for the bakery’s fourth birthday by the way?” Yoongi was happy to know that as she grew up, she got sweeter and sweeter.
Maybe it’s the effects of being in a bakery almost 24/7.
“Yes, mommy and I will need help later, but we’ll call you out then. For now, mommy and I will be looking at this,” he says, holding the list up. Hana smiles up at her dad, giving him an ‘okay’ sign.
Yoongi turns and walks out the door, already scanning the list.
“Why do you have that look on your face?” Sohyun asks her husband, watching him frown at Hana’s wishlist. Sohyun was on her laptop on the couch, ordering last minute party supplies for Hana’s birthday.
“She wants to invite boys from her class,” Yoongi says, looking up at his wife who starts to laugh at him.
“Let me see,” she says, reaching out her hand for the paper. Yoongi hands it to her as he sits next to her.
“It says: invite friends.” She turns to Yoongi with one eyebrow raised. “It didn’t specify whether it was all girls, all boys, or both.”
“Assuming it’s both, I’m sure her boyfriend is in there. She wouldn’t just write ‘invite Taeoh’,” he huffs.
“Even if it did, you’d still invite him because it’s on your princess’ wishlist,” Sohyun says, knowing she was right.
“I guess. Let’s look through it and see if we can get some done today. I’ll ask her for the names and make the invitations later.”
“Sounds good. Now let’s see,” Sohyun says, humming as she goes down the list. “Typical Hana, a lot of this is her general wishes. Party, perfect cake, all her friends and family~”
“There’s a back side!” Hana yells from her room. Both her parents look up, turning the paper around and their eyes widen.
“Baby brother (or sister! That’s okay too)”
“Hmm,” Yoongi says. “Well that’s a hard one.” Sohyun laughs nervously.
Little did they know.
That’s already one check done off of the list.
It wasn’t too long ago that Sohyun found out that she was expecting. She figured that it would be perfect to announce it to both Yoongi and Hana on the night of her birthday. Once everyone’s gone and right when Hana thinks the presents have stopped coming.
- hana’s birthday -
“Is that the kid?” Hoseok asks, watching a little boy hand Hana a gift. Yoongi glares at them.
“Mhm,” he says.
“Thank you Taeoh,” Hana says, taking the gift her friend was giving her. Boyfriend as Yoongi says.
Hoseok laughs at his hyung, but that smile quickly drops when he sees his own daughter standing next to her boyfriend. Huimang and Hana take taekwondo together and share the same friends. Which is why her ‘boyfriend’ was also at Hana’s party.
“You boys okay?” Sohyun asks, raising an eyebrow at the two. They both look away from their daughters.
“Fine, why do you ask?” Yoongi says, giving her a close lip smile. Sohyun laughs at the both of them, turning to look at their daughters.
“They’re just kids, don’t worry,” she says. “It’s just a baby crush.”
“Speaking of babies,” Hoseok says, suddenly remembering what Yoongi had told the boys previously. He mentioned to them about Hana’s birthday wishlist. About how this might be the first year he fails giving her everything.
Well, until the boys reminded him that four years ago when Hana wrote mommy on her list and he ended up breaking up with Sohyun.
That was something.
“What are you two telling Hana,” Hoseok says with a small laugh. “Should’ve told her to give you the wishlist 9 months ago.”
Yoongi sighs. “I know, I should’ve expected it. She’s been asking for one for so long.”
“I’m sure she’ll be understanding,” Sohyun says, trying hard to conceal her smile. She was pretty excited for the party to be over so she can spend some quality time with her family.
-
“Hey!” Yuna calls, rushing over to Sohyun and giving her a hug. “You’re telling them today, right?” She whispers, glancing down at her stomach. Yuna knew about Sohyun being pregnant.
Actually, all the girls did.
Only because Sohyun threw up at their mommy hangout and the girls had a feeling and told her to take a pregnancy test.
It was Sohyun’s first test and she was nervous. So of course the girls all helped her out and taught her how to use one. It ended with all of them screaming three minutes later and Sohyun sobbing with tears of joy.
“Yes, tonight right before her birthday ends,” Sohyun answers. “I’m like 95% excited and 5% nervous.”
“Ah!! I’m so excited, tell us everything after,” Yuna says, holding onto Sohyun's arms tightly. Sohyun laughs, nodding her head.
“I will, definitely.”
-
“So, did you enjoy your birthday?” Yoongi asks Hana, laying in her bed. No matter how old she turns, Yoongi promised to give her birthday cuddles before she slept. Hana cuddles into her dad’s side.
“Yeah, it was fun,” Hana says sleepily. It was nearing midnight, just about 10 minutes before. The group had stayed longer than everyone else (of course). Hana played with her cousins and was given extra hugs and kisses from her aunt and uncles before they left. Even Taehyung was crying, not wanting to let her go because, in his exact words: ‘Aigoo, you guys growing up is making me feel so old, I'm so sad. How are you already eight?’
“I’m sorry we didn’t get to check off everything on your list,” Yoongi tells her, rubbing her arm. He hugged her tightly, pressing his cheek to her head. As much as he just wanted to fulfill all of her wishes, he wanted Hana to have a sibling as much as she wanted one.
“It’s okay, I still loved everything you gave me. I’d be happy with anything,” Hana tells him, looking up at her dad with a smile on her face. Yoongi pouts, raising his hand up to caress her cheeks.
“How are you the sweetest girl ever?”
“Knock knock,” Sohyun says, peeking her head into the room. “Can I join?” The two smile up at her, motioning for her to come in. Sohyun reveals herself, holding a cupcake with a lit candle on top.
“Oh?” Hana says, sitting up in surprise. She smiles widely as she stares at the cupcake.
“Another candle to blow?” Yoongi asks. His wife nods, careful sitting beside her daughter.
“Your birthday ends in like 5 minutes. Is there one thing you really wanted today that you didn’t get?” Sohyun asks Hana. She knew what wish she would make. Hana looks up at her and nods.
“Okay make the wish then,” Sohyun says. Hana closes her eyes, intertwining her fingers in front of her.
She whispers quietly.
“I wish I could have a little brother or sister.”
It was just loud enough for her parents to hear. Yoongi looks up at Sohyun as Hana blows the candle.
“Done?” Sohyun asks. Hana nods and Sohyun puts the cupcake on her side table, turning back to her two loves.
“So that completes everything from the list right?” Sohyun says, looking back at the two. Both Yoongi and Hana looked at her confused.
“Oh didn’t I tell you two?” Sohyun says with a smile that she could no longer contain. “I’m pregnant.”
Yoongi’s eyes grew big and Hana smiled so wide, her cheeks turned pink.
“Mommy you’re pregnant?” Hana repeats, putting her hand gently on her mom’s tummy. Sohyun nods, putting her hand over hers. She looks up at Yoongi and laughs.
“Are you okay, hun?” She says, reaching out and pushing his hair back.
Yoongi’s face broke into a smile.
“Are you serious? Are you really pregnant?” Yoongi asks, hesitantly putting his hand on her tummy as well.
“Yeah, I found out about three weeks ago,” Sohyun laughs. “I figured I’d surprise you two before midnight.”
“You did it, you completed my wishes,” Hana laughs, leaning onto her mom and hugging her tightly. Yoongi couldn’t stop smiling as he joined in the hug, wrapping his arms tightly around his two girls.
At that moment, the clock struck 12 and Hana’s birthday was over.
They couldn’t help but think that at this time, next year, there'll be another person included in this hug.

text in between images!

“I’m so excited to see the kidssss,” you squeal. You got out of the car and ran straight to the front door.
It was locked, of course.
“Jin!” you called behind you. “Keys please!” You turn around with your hands out, palms facing up. He looks at you with his brows furrowed, arms crossed over his chest.
“Help me with the luggages first,” he says, pointing to the trunk. “At least take the carry on full of oranges?”
You roll your eyes, jokingly, skipping over to him and taking the bag of oranges. Specially for your daughter and Yoongi. You grab Jin’s carry on as well while he carries yours and his luggage. You close the trunk and start running to the door again.
“I still have the keys babe,” Jin says, pulling the luggages behind him as he walks towards you.
“Finally.”
The two of you turn to the door, which was now open thanks to--
“Taehyung,” you and Jin say at the same time, both confused.
“What are you doing--”
“Hey you’re home!” Hoseok interrupts Jin, throwing his arm over Taehyung’s shoulders.
“We’ve been waiting for you two, come on in,” Taehyung says, moving to the side to let you two inside. Your eyes widen as you hear the screams and giggles of not three but nine kids. Yeah... everyone was here.
“Mommy! Daddy!” Soojin yells as soon as she sees you two come into the living room. You drop the bags you were holding to catch her as she was running into your arms.
“Hey baby,” you say, peppering her cheeks with kisses. “I missed you! How was it with grandma and grandpa?”
“It was good,” she says in between giggles. Jin went straight to your shared room to put away the luggage. You two will be unloading it tonight once everyone’s gone of course.
“I heard you had nightmares last night, is everything okay? You wanna sleep with us tonight?”
Soojin shakes her head, “I’m okay mommy. I can sleep in my room.” You smile and nod at her, she was such a brave little— big girl you mean.
“Did you get the oranges,” Soojin whispered as she had her little arms around your neck. You lean your forehead against hers.
“It’s in the bag behind me,” you say, making her eyes light up. Immediately, she runs to the carry on.
“Yo Yn, bring us back anything?” Jimin says, wiggling his eyebrows at you. Yuna comes up next to him, making the same expressions. You pointed to Soojin behind you, who was currently unzipping the bag.
“We have oranges,” you say, laughing as his expression drops. Yuna, on the other hand, got excited and rushed next to Soojin.
“I love these oranges,” she says. “They’re so sweet, Mingyu loves them too.” Yuna turns around and yells out her son’s name. The next thing you know, a couple of pudgy feet start running towards you. Haneul and Moonji not far behind him.
“So how was the trip guys~ what did you two youngsters do,” Jungkook says, sitting on the arm of your couch, wrapping his arm around Rina’s head.
“Jungkook,” she mumbles underneath his hand. He moved his hand a little lower, cupping her chin. He raises his eyebrows at you, twice.
“It was fun, the beach was great, the flower fields were beautiful~” You answered.
“And what else,” Jungkook asks, giving you a stupid smile.
“And we slept a lot because we don’t get to do that often,” Jin says, diverting the attention elsewhere. “So anyways, tomorrow? 10 right?”
“In the morning, yes,” Taehyung says. Youngjae comes running to Taehyung, leaning over the arm of the couch where Taehyung was sitting next to.
“I’m so excited!!” He yells, “we’re going after school right?” He asks Taehyung. Taehyung laughs, ruffling Youngjae’s hair.
“Yeah, mommy will take you.”
“The kids can start tomorrow right?” You ask, hugging Moonji as she came along with Mingyu and sat on your lap.
“I wanna start tomorrow,” Moonji says, smiling up at Taehyung. Taehyung smiles down at her and reaches for Moonji.
“You can, but only if you come and give me a kiss,” Taehyung says, pointing to his cheek. Moonji giggles, standing up and running to Uncle Taetae. She jumps onto the couch to press a sweet, little kiss to Taehyung’s cheek.
“That should count as her payment for the classes,” Namjoon says, tipping his drink at Taehyung. He was standing by the hallway, one hand in his pocket, the other holding a cup and taking a sip from whatever liquid was in it.
Taehyung rolls his eyes at his hyung.
“Moonji go to daddy, I cannot say no to your cute face so it’s better if you leave,” Taehyung says, pushing Moonji away from him, making her slide off of the couch. Byul comes by and snatches the little cutie from the floor.
“To answer your question Yn, yes,” Taehyung answers.
“Is Haneul starting tomorrow right after the opening or is he starting with his siblings?” Jin asks, sitting down next to Taehyung.
“I think he’ll start right after the opening with Mingyu and Moonji,” you say, turning to Yuna and Namjoon. They both nod, saying yeah.
“Yeah, okay, then the maknaes will start in the morning, the rest of the kids will all start after school,” you say.
“Sounds good, I’m so excited!” Taehyung says with his boxy smile.
“Yoongi and I will bring the cake and cupcakes with us at 8:30, so we can help prepare everything,” Sohyun says, walking out of the hallway. “We’re talking about the grand opening for tomorrow right?” Bora follows from behind, and Sarang comes too.
“Where have you three been?” Jin asks. He looks around and notices a few people gone too. “Where’s Yoongi, Minseok… Hana, Huimang... and Sian?”
“The kids were filling us in with the school drama,” Bora says with all seriousness, sitting on the floor in front of Taehyung. He wraps his legs around her shoulders. Seemed like a normal thing, she was unfazed.
“Oh, well tell them to come here, we have Yoongi’s oranges,” Jin says, pointing at the bag the little boys were digging through. By little boys, he meant Haneul, Mingyu, and Jungkook.
“Give me that,” Jungkook says, taking the one Haneul was holding. Your son glares at uncle Jungkook. Which Jungkook laughs at. “This is like.. the size of your head bro,” he says, walking away from the little ones.
“Hyung! Your oranges!” Jimin yells. Minseok and Sian come running to the living room. Your son immediately comes to greet you.
“I didn’t know you were back,” Minseok says, kissing your cheek. You laugh.
“We’ve been home for a little while now sweetie. I’m glad you’re having fun with your cousins though! So it’s okay,” you tell him, rubbing your thumb on his cheek, before giving it a little squeeze.
“Go say hi to daddy too,” you whisper to him, lightly pushing him towards Jin. He had Soojin on his lap.
“I don’t want to waste my time on boys,” Hana says, walking out of the hallway with Huimang, she nods her head. Meanwhile, Yoongi was walking behind them, smirking as the so called “school drama” was just getting good. Knowing he doesn’t have to worry about his daughters and boys for the meantime.
“Hyung, think fast!” Jungkook says, throwing an orange at Yoongi. He laughs when it hits the older one’s head.
“Hey don’t hit my dad!” Hana yells angrily, walking over to Jungkook and hitting his lap.
“Yeah don’t hit her dad,” Yoongi says, pointing at Jungkook. He still turned around to pick up the orange from the floor though.
“Thanks hyung, thanks Yn,” he says as he leans over one couch, peeling the orange he picked up. “So.. what’d I miss?”
“Wait a minute,” Jin says, a confused expression etched on his face. A sudden thought occurred to him. He looked around, like he was counting everyone that was there. Everyone was kind of everywhere now. Some were standing, some were sitting on the floor, others on the couch, and some kids were running around the living room. It was a full house for sure. But something was missing.
“Wait, where’s mom and dad?” you ask, referring to your inlaws. Jin nods, pointing to you as if you just took his words right out of his mouth.
“Who?” Taehyung asks, with a little head tilt.
“The house was empty when we came here,” Hoseok says, trying to bite his cheek.
“Yeah we were surprised when we found out you left the kids home alone,” Namjoon plays along. “No adults were home when we got here.”
You look at the girls and they all shake their heads, shrugging. Like a simultaneous agreement that they don’t know what the boys are trying to get at.
“Did you guys kill my parents?” Jin asks. Looking around the room.
“Grandma and grandpa are taking a nap in the guest room,” Soojin says, ruining the uncle’s joke.
“Soojiiiin,” Jungkook whines. “Little snitch.” He got an elbow nudge from Rina for that.
“Yeah they said they were tired and wanted to take a quick nap before their long drive,” Yoongi says. “Rumor has it, the kids were a handfuuul~”
“Umm.. by kids, I think Uncle Yoongi meant Haneul,” Minseok says. “Me and Soojin were good. Well Soojin was good most of the time.”
“Woow, another snitch,” Junkook says again.
“Shut up,” Rina says, stuffing a whole orange in his mouth.

Jin had just gotten to Hoseok’s house. With Haneul of course.
He wouldn’t let Jin out of the house unless he came with.
The other two stayed at home. You still haven’t left your room. Well you have, but only when you had to. It was Sunday, so no school for the kids. You only got out for breakfast, Jin took care of their lunch. He was off today as well. It would’ve been a perfect day to spend time with your family but with what happened last night, it just wasn’t the right time.
“Aww you brought Haneul!” Sarang says, greeting the two when they walk in. She reaches out, asking to carry him. Of course Jin passes him to her.
“Where’s Hobi?” Jin asks, looking at the empty living room.
“In Hope’s room,” she says, already walking away with Haneul. “He’s helping her with homework but I’ll switch with him so you two can have your talk. It seems… important.”
Jin smiles at her. “Thank you, it kinda is.”
“I hear you need some advice this time,” she says from the hallway. “So it must be.”
“Honey, Jin is here,” Jin hears her say. “I’ll help Hope with her homework. Go ahead and go.” The next thing he knows, Hoseok comes out of the hallway.
“Hyung!” Hoseok says with a big smile, walking towards Jin. “Sorry my wife took your baby,” he laughs. Jin waves his hand.
“She can keep him,” he jokes. “Are the other guys coming?”
“Yeah, Taehyung’s closing up, he said he’s on his way. Jungkook is picking up Namjoon and Moonji. Yoongi and Jimin will be here soon though. Do you want anything to drink before they get here?”
-
“So~” Taehyung says, sitting down next to Jungkook on the couch. “Why have we all gathered here tonight. What’s going on with you and your wife..” He suddenly takes out a small notepad out of his pocket. “Does anyone have a pen?”
“What are you? His therapist?” Yoongi asks, but looking around for a pen anyways.
“I feel like we all are each other’s therapists at this point,” Jimin says. “We somehow always have problems we can’t handle ourselves.”
“I’m excited for this one, I have never had the chance to give Jin hyung advice,” Jungkook says, looking at everyone with wide eyes. “This is like the first time, it’s usually the other way around.”
“Everyone has problems--” Namjoon starts, but he’s quickly interrupted by Taehyung.
“Yeah but he never asks us for help.”
“And he never will if you guys keep talking,” Hoseok says, he gestures to Jin. “Hyung, what’s wrong?”
Jin sighs, sitting up. What better way to address the situation than to just go right ahead and say it.
“Yn’s pregnant.”
“HUH?!” They all yell in unison. Surprised… clearly.
“Wah,” Taehyung says, covering his mouth with his hand.
“Hyung,” Jungkook says with big eyes. “You’re like… a baby making machine,” he says, smacking Jin’s thigh, even giving it a squeeze. He was sitting right next to him.
Jin clicks his tongue at him, moving the younger one’s hand away from his leg.
Jimin was just trying to stifle his laugh while the three oldest were in shock.
Nothing bad, just surprised.
“Wait,” Jimin says with a smile on his face. “Why are you telling us like this? Usually you and Yn do something fun to tell us.”
“That’s the thing,” Jin starts off.
“Wait before you start,” Namjoon says. “Congrats hyung.” He gets up, giving his brother a hug.
“Oh yeah,” the three youngest said, joining in the hug. “Congratulations~ can’t wait for baby #4~” They all sang, making Jin laugh.
“Aigoo, I wish it was this happy when I found out..”
“It wasn’t?” Taehyung asks, beginning to pull away. “Why?” Jin sighs.
“Ah… it was just a long day, a long week. Yn kept that news from me the whole time she was gone. I’m sure she wanted to surprise me with it, in a nice way, but instead I answered the phone and found out from our doctor instead.”
“It’s never fun to hear important news from other people,” Hoseok says.
“Why do you think she kept it from you?” Yoongi asks, now sitting on the other couch.
“It was my fault,” Jin sighed. “I was ranting to her the other day about how hard it was. You know, with the three kids alone. And I told her how we’re only sticking to three kids, because I can’t handle anymore.” All the boys went “Ah..” in unison. Understanding as to why you felt the need to hold back.
“Is that the only reason why you want three kids though? Because it’s hard?” Hoseok asks. Jin hesitates to answer.
“Well.. no, it’s just one of the things I guess.. uh.. I never thought that it would be this hard, alone. You know? Yn was gone for a week and I thought I would be able to handle it. But then I had to wake up an hour early just to make breakfast, make the kids’ lunch. Then help them get ready for school, then take them to school, while also getting myself ready for work. Then I take Haneul with me to my office. And he doesn’t even want to be there so I have to deal with his tantrums as I do meetings and paperwork and travel from one building to the next. Then I have to remember to pick up my other kids. Then I take them with me back to work and I have to help them with homework in between working. Then when we get home I have to make dinner and feed them and sometimes I try not to forget to feed myself. Then I have to give them a bath and get them ready for bed. So bedtime stories and everything and not only that, but I have to remember to take care of myself too and then I have more work afterwards because I’m not able to finish during my actual working times because of the kids. And I feel like there’s more, but I’m already tired just thinking about it.” Jin says in almost one breath. He rubs his temples afterwards. “It’s just a lot.”
“Dang,” Jungkook says. He laughs, looking at everyone. “I don’t know about you guys but I think Sian is going to be the only child for me and Rina.” Taehyung nudges his side.
“Hyung,” Jimin says. “If you didn’t want any more kids… then why didn’t you and Yn like… use protection? Or some other type of--”
“We did,” Jin says. “Yn does, I mean. She’s on birth control but on the day of our trip she ran out. We had a long day that day, remember? So she forgot to get more and you know what happened next.”
“Hyung I got Tannie neutered the other day. You should’ve came with,” Taehyung says, doing a scissor motion with his fingers. “Snip snip.” Jin rolls his eyes at him while Jungkook laughs.
“Guys, stop joking around,” Namjoon tells them. The two youngest immediately bit their tongues. “Hyung you and Yn should’ve had a talk about this first, the whole three kids only thing. You know there are other ways other than birth control to prevent pregnancies.”
“Yeah,” Hoseok says. “You or her can get surgery for that.” Jin shakes his head no.
“It’s not that we don’t want kids anymore,” he says.
“You’re confusing me…” Jungkook mumbles, resting his head on the couch as he faced Jin.
Jin sighs, again. He’s sighing a lot tonight.
“We planned for a big family when we were younger. We always liked the idea of three kids, but we didn’t mind more. Just not like.. Five, I guess.”
“Then four is the perfect number for you!” Jimin says. “I don’t get why you don’t want another one. Is it just because of your stressful week?”
“No it’s not just that--”
“You’re financially stable and everything,” Yoongi says. “You have full family support.” He shrugs. “What could be the problem?”
“It’s not like I don’t want the baby,” Jin says.
“Baby?”
The seven boys turn to the hallway and see Sarang standing there.
“Who’s having a baby?”
“Yn,” Jungkook answers.
“But don’t tell the other girls yet, I don’t think anyone knows.” Jin tells her.
“Well, except for us,” Yoongi tells her.
“She’s pregnant?” Sarang says. “Wow.” By looking at her, you can tell she’s trying her best to be happy for her friend. But the smile on her face didn’t look sincere.
“Yeah, it wasn’t even planned,” Jungkook tells her, covering his mouth. “Surprising right?”
“Definitely,” Sarang says, forcing out a laugh.
“Well, anyways,” Jungkook says. “Got any advice for him?”
“What do you need advice on?” Sarang says, looking at Jin.
He shrugs. “I don’t know, honestly.”
-
“I heard a bit of what you seven were talking about earlier…” Sarang tells Jin. The two of them were now standing in Huimang’s room. Huimang was asleep on the bed, next to her were her two younger cousins, Moonji and Haneul. They were also asleep.
“I don’t think you understand,” she says, Jin looks over at her. “You think it’s hard for you, doing all of that. But it’s just as hard for Yn. Even harder. And now she’s even carrying your child and you’re not happy about it.” She looks up at him this time. “Being a mother, being pregnant, is hard. I’m not saying being a dad isn’t either but, right now the only thing you can do to help Yn is to be supportive of her. You acting the way you did is already making everything harder than it should be.” She looks away from him, looking down at the three kids sleeping in front of them.
“I think you should be happy,” she says after a while. Jin looks at her. “You don’t know how lucky you are.” Jin can see a tear rolling down her cheek.
“I wish I had that problem,” she whispers. “Then it would mean I’m finally pregnant..”
“You know…” she says, with a small laugh. Jin watches the tears roll down to her chin. “Hobi and I have been trying for so long, but nothing... “ She shrugs. “The doctor says we’re perfectly fine. There’s nothing wrong with either of us, but for some reason we can’t get pregnant.” She looks up at Jin now. “Huimang has been asking us for a sibling actually. I told her we’re working on it and she’s wondering why it’s taking so long. And I don’t know what to tell her.” She looks back down at her daughter peacefully sleeping. “Then, You and Yn have a little fun on your trip and she comes back pregnant and it causes an argument between you two.” She shakes her head at him. “It hurts to watch people you know get something you’ve been wanting and they don’t even want it.”
She sighs, wiping her nose with her sleeve.
“I’m sorry Jin, I love you and Yn so much but I can’t help but hate you two right now.”
Jin didn’t know what to say. Instead he puts a hand on her shoulder.
“I’m sorry.”
Sarang shakes her head.
“You should be saying that to Yn, not me.”

mini me | 27
+photos!

The group had just finished unpacking and filling the fridge with food. By the looks of it, it looked like you were packing for a week when, really, you just had several mouths to feed.
-in the play room-
“Wait! Soojinie~” Huimang giggled, grabbing the crayon out of the younger girl’s hand. “You draw a puppy like this!”
“Let her draw how she wants it,” Hana says, taking the crayon back from her and giving it to Soojin. “Dogs can be pink too~”
“Noo,” Moonji says. “There’s no pink doggies.”
“Minseok hyung!” Sian yells, bursting into laughter as he chased the older one around the room.
“Get Youngjae first not me!” Minseok yells, jumping over the babies as he tries to get away from Sian. Mingyu frowns, getting up on his feet to follow his hyungs. Haneul does the same and the two try their best to catch up, unfortunately for them, the older boys found this funny and began running around them in circles.
“Hey!” Soojin yells. “Don’t be mean to my baby brother,” she says, dropping her crayons and running towards Haneul and Mingyu.
“We’re just playing with them Soojin-ah,” Sian says, stopping in front of her.
“Yeah! We’re not being mean, they like it when we play with them!” Youngjae says, kneeling down to the babies’ level. “Right?” He says, tickling them both under their chins, making both of them giggle.
“Soojin are you going to finish this? Moonji’s about to color all over it,” Hana calls out. Soojin immediately lets go of the two boys and runs back to the table.
“Here Soojinie,” Huimang says, handing her another crayon.
“Can I color this one~” Moonji asks, looking up at Soojin.
“Yeah, here!”
“Youngjae-ah, Sianie, do you want to go play outside?-- oh! And you guys too,” Minseok says, inviting the youngests.
“Yeah I want to go,” Youngjae says. “Do you want to come?” He asks Mingyu and Haneul, holding out his hands. The two babies take it and Youngjae walks towards the door with both of them on each side.
—
“Where are the kids,” Yoongi asks, walking into the main room. The girls were all gathered at the table, talking amongst themselves. Jungkook and Jin were arguing over which game they should play. Jimin and Taehyung were picking karaoke songs. And lastly, Namjoon was showing Hoseok the book he was currently reading.
Sohyun looks up and points behind her.
“They’re all in the room playing.”
“We should all go out while the sun’s still out,” Yoongi says, scratching his head as he walked towards the room to get the kids.
“That’s true,” Mae says, already getting up to grab the bottle of sunscreen she has in her bag.
Yoongi opens the door to the kids’ play room, almost hitting the kids walking out.
“Oh-- I’m sorry I didn’t see you guys,” Yoongi apologizes. The loud playroom goes quiet and the nine kids in the room just stares at him.
“Are you all having fun,” Yoongi asks, stepping into the room. Youngjae and the two babies back up.
“Yes daddy,” Hana says as she gets back to coloring.
“AI--” Yoongi yelps out as Sian jumps onto his leg.
“Uncle can we go plaaaaaaay~” He asks, smiling up at Yoongi. Him and Jungkook both had the same cheeky smile.
“Ousside,” Haneul says, pointing out the door.
“Yeah, that’s what I came in here for,” Yoongi says, prying Sian off of his leg.
“Uncle are we going outside by ourselves?” Soojin asks.
“No, we’re all going outside so clean your stuff up and we’ll all go. Okay?” Soojin nods, and the girls all grab a box and start placing all the crayons in. The boys helped tidy around as well.
“Less go out!” Haneul tells Youngjae.
“We need to help clean first,” he tells them, walking them over to where the other kids were.
“Ah~ What good kids, go into the main room when you’re done okay?” Yoongi says walking back out.
“Yes!” They all say.
“Are you girls taking the kids out?” Hoseok asks, stretching and laying on the floor.
“No, we’re taking the kids out,” Sarang says, walking up to her husband and grabbing his hands, pulling him up. “It’s family time lazy butt.”
“Are we all going out?” Namjoon asks, taking off his glasses, running a hand through his hair.
“Who’s idea was it to go camping?? You love nature!” Byul exclaims.
“I did and I do, I just wanted to read right now,” Namjoon says, standing up and putting his book down. “But if we’re going out, we’re going out.”
“Namjoon and I are so different~” Jin says, sprawled across the floor, closing his eyes. Jungkook frowns, throwing down the board game he just picked out. Apparently there were ten kids on this trip.
“If Jin hyung’s staying here, so am I,” Jungkook says, laying next to Jin.
“We’re done!” Sian yells running into the living room, dropping down to where his dad was at. “Daddy let’s go play!” Sian yells into his ear.
“I don’t want to~” Jungkook groans.
“Let’s go outside!” Soojin yells as she runs out, immediately jumping onto Jin’s chest.
“OoMPH--”
“I want to sleep~” Jungkook says, turning to his side, wrapping his arm around Jin and kicking his leg over his.
“nO!” Soojin yells, pushing Jungkook’s arms away.
“Mm… yes,” Jungkook mumbles, putting his arm back on Jin.
“NooOoO,” she says again, pushing him off. “Daddy’s mine,” she says, leaning down and wrapping her arms around Jin.
“Can we go outside pLEASE,” Sian insisted, tugging on Jungkook. Jungkook lets out a groan and continues to cuddle into Jin’s side.
The two begin to pout as their dads wouldn’t cooperate with them.
“Jungkook get up before you make the twins cry,” Rina says, calling the two twins since they’re the same age. Both Jin and Jungkook proceeded to get up, picking up their kids along the way.
“Moonji-ah! We’re going to go out baby,” Namjoon calls as Moonji was still in the room. She runs out at the sound of her dad’s voice and hands him a picture she drew.
“Oh is this for me?” Namjoon asks. Moonji nods, reaching up to get carried. “Thank you sweetheart, I’ll put it here where my book’s at okay,” he says as he carries her.
Minseok was already getting his sunscreen on with his mom. Mae looks around for Haneul.
“Where’s my baby?” She says. Jin raises his hand.
“I’m right here.” Mae playfully rolls her eyes as Jin laughs.
“Where’s mine,” Yuna says as well, getting up from her seat.
“Right here,” Jimin says, copying Jin.
“Youngjae is with them in the room,” Huimang informs them.
“We already cleaned up everything so I don’t know what they’re doing,” Hana says, running back to the room.
You follow her into the room, along with Yuna and Taehyung.
“Mommy I don’t think Mingyu wants to go outside,” Youngjae says as soon as you walk in.
Mingyu was on the floor, playing with a little toy car.
“Less go ousside!” Haneul says, crouching down to tell the younger one.
“You can’t stay here by yourself buddy, we’re all going,” Yuna says, walking over to pick up Mingyu.
“Thanks for watching him Youngjae, you’re such a sweet boy,” Yuna tells him, leaning down to kiss his forehead.
“Let’s go Haneul,” Youngjae says holding onto his hand once again.
“You’re already such a good big brother,” Taehyung tells your son, looking back up at you.
“We’re ready for another one,” he tells you, smiling widely, as if you two have been married for years and have been raising Youngjae together.
You laugh shaking your head. “Let’s date for at least a month before we talk about anything as far as kids,” you say as you follow the kids out.
-
“Let’s go hiking,” Namjoon says, slinging his arm around Byul. Her eyes widen and she stops walking.
“H-hike?” She stutters.
“Yeah, it’ll be fun. Let’s go,” He says. Byul groans as she follows both Namjoon and Moonji to their cars so they can drive up to the hiking trails.
“You’re going to make me hike AND drive??” She complains.
“I was going to read but you insisted we get out,” Namjoon says with a smile. “It’ll be worth it, don’t worry~”

-
“Shall we go for a walk?” Jimin says to Yuna. She nods, putting Mingyu down. Right when his little feet touched the ground he was off.
“Oh, we’re running,” Yuna says, running after her son. Jimin laughs as Mingyu’s little legs don't stop. He’s been walking a lot lately, but this was the first time he was running running.
“When did his legs get so strong!?” Yuna exclaims, running next to him.

-
“What should we do?” Jin asks, putting his hands on his hips.
“Let’s play tag!” Sian yells, running towards Jin and slamming his hand onto Jin’s stomach. “You’re it!”
“I’m not ready!” Jin yells, starting to stretch. “Give me a minute.”

Mae laughs from where she was sitting. Taking a picture of her husband.
Sian came running towards you and Youngjae.
“Youngjae Uncle Jin’s it! RUN,” he yells. Right when the words went through his ears, he went past you and ran to where Minseok and Sian were.
“Jin! HANEUL WANTS TO PLAY TOO!” Mae calls out. “Go, go run to daddy,” she tells him, tapping his little butt.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH,” Jin yells, sprinting towards Taehyung and you and tagging Taehyung.
“What?!” He says in surprise, turning to you and tagging you next.
“I’m not even playing!” You yell out when he runs away from you. Jin runs towards Haneul, swiftly picking him up and running with him.
“Who’s it?” Jin asks. You smile, running up to him.
“Taehyung is!” You tell him, running next to his side.
“Okay we’re good, he’s where the boys are at,” Jin says, already out of breath.
“Just kidding,” you say, tagging him and Haneul. “You’re it!”
“AISH, KIM TAEHYUNG YOUR GIRLFRIEND IS A LIAR.”

-
Meanwhile, Yoongi, Sohyun, and Hana were playing in the water.
“Daddy!” Hana giggles, stomping in the water. “You have to get in!”
Yoongi shakes his head. “I'm good sweetie,” he says, putting his hand up. Sohyun then whispers to Hana, both of them looking at Yoongi suspiciously. Although, he doesn’t notice because he was trying to take a cute picture of his daughter.

“Now!” Sohyun says, the two girls running towards Yoongi.
“Huh? Whatwhatwhat,” he says, already whining as the girls pull him into the water. “AaiiSH.”
“Success!” Sohyun says, both her and Hana putting their hands up.
“Yeah?” Yoongi says, sweeping Sohyun off her feet.
“What’re you doing??!” She says, Yoongi replies with a little laugh, walking towards a deeper end to the water before dropping Sohyun.
“AH!” As soon as her head resurfaced, I mean, it wasn’t that deep, he turned around to get his daughter.
“No!” Hana yelled and she giggled as she tried to run through the water, away from her dad.
-
After a short drive, Huimang, Hoseok, and Sarang were sitting at the back of the van, eating some food.
“So I came to the conclusion,” Huimang says, Sarang and Hoseok exchanged looks with each other as they didn’t know where she was going with this.
“Hana asked Uncle Yoongi for a brother and I just want a sibling,” she pouts. “I think it’s time.” Sarang and Hoseok both look at each other and Sarang bursts out laughing.
“Sweetie, Uncle Yoongi can’t have babies, only mommies can remember?” Sarang tells her. Sarang looks up at Hoseok and sees him staring at her with a wide smile.
“Babe that’s two against one we have to now,” he says, giving Huimang a high five. Sarang scoffs.
“What? No,” she says. “We need to wait for a while, let Hope be the only child for just a little longer.”
Hoseok looks at Huimang and they both turn to Sarang at the same time with the same pout.
“See, you two are always doing this! If we have another one, I won’t have a say in anything. Another cute face is the last thing I need right now,” Sarang says, facing away from them.
“Right now? So tomorrow can be different?” Huimang asks, scooting closer to you.
“Good one,” Hoseok says. Sarang can’t help but smile at them being silly.
“I’ll say yes when Sohyun does, deal?”

-
“Soojinie, where are you taking me?” Jungkook asks, as Soojin pulls him inside the house.
“Mommy hid the banana milk,” she says. Jungkook instantly got where she was going.
“I see,” he says, picking her up. “Well Uncle Kookie knows exactly where she put it.” The two sneakily went into the kitchen and dug the top shelf of the fridge to grab some banana milk.
“What are you two doing?”
Jungkook and Soojin both slowly turned around.
“Hi Auntie Rin,” Soojin says, waving at her innocently.
“Soojinie I thought mommy said no banana milk earlier,” Rina says, pulling out a chair and sitting down.
“Yeah but Uncle Kookie is getting me it,” she says. Rina laughs at her reasoning.
“Well if you get in trouble it’s on Uncle Kookie not me.”

-
“My legs are getting tired,” you say as you got farther and farther into the hike. After the game of tag with the boys and Jin, you and Tae decided to have some time alone. With Youngjae of course.
“We’re almost at the top!” Taehyung cheers. “We got this!”
“Mommy can you carry me, I’m tired too,” Youngjae says, lifting his arms up.
“Taehyung,” you say, pointing to your son. “Too tired.” Taehyung laughs, walking towards Youngjae and easily lifting him up.
“You want me to carry you too?” he asks.
“Can you?” Taehyung laughs at your answer, already kneeling down to pick you up when you laugh and push him away slightly.
“I’m kidding, I’m kidding,” you say.
When you get to the top, you sigh at the view.
“Worth it right?” Taehyung asks.
“Yeah, definitely.”
“Have you been here before?” You ask. Taehyung nods.
“Yeah, by myself. It’s my favorite spot to be alone at. Not that I was never by myself, but it’s where I just fully relax and all my worries fly away.” He says, looking out at the view. He turns to you. “It’s a special place for me.”
“And you’re bringing us here?” You say. “Wouldn’t that ruin it?” Taehyung scoffs.
“Ruin it?? I’ve always wanted to take someone special here. It happened to be perfect timing that we got together and we ended up going near my special places.”
“I think it’s fate,” Youngjae says, putting his arm over the edge and feeling the breeze.
“Oh my gosh, be careful,” you say, pulling your son back a bit.
Taehyung laughs. “Yeah, I guess it can be fate.” He turns to you as you both are looking at the view.
“You know you still owe me something and this would be a great way to pay me back.” You frown at him.
“Owe you for what?”
Taehyung glanced at Youngjae and he looked like he knew where this was going.
“I’m going to go sit on that rock,” he pointed, it was away from the edge, but not far from you two. He just quietly sat there and faced away.
“Ugh I love him,” Taehyung says, turning back to you. He pushed back the hair that was flying all over your face, letting his hand rest on your cheek.
Before he got any closer, he looked around, making sure no one was there to stop them.
“Finally,” he says, you laugh as he gets closer.
“Hurry up before something happens,” you say, pulling him closer and smashing your lips together.
Up in the mountains, a beautiful view, a nice cool breeze, and no interruptions~
Except little Youngjae was quietly giggling as he knew what was going on behind him.
But he’s a good boy.

“Yn!” Yuna exclaims as you walk into their home. Your little one was holding onto your hand, smiling up at your friend.
“It’s been so long!” You say, giving her a big hug.
“Ohhh I know! Is this Youngjae?” She says, looking down at your son, who goes up to her, reaching his arms up for a hug. “Oh my, he’s so sweet~” She says, hugging him tightly. “Hi, I’m auntie Yuna,” she tells him. “Do you want to meet Mingyu?” Youngjae nods his head, reaching out to hold Yuna’s hand. She looks up to you and she clutches her chest with her other hand. “He’s so cute, he’s making my heart melt.” You laugh slightly.
“He’s a charmer.”
“He sure is… Mingyu is with my friend Rina right now. I’ll introduce you to both of them, come on,” she says, walking towards the kitchen.
-
“It’s nice isn’t it!” Taehyung says, as he pipes frosting onto the last cupcake. Yoongi looks over at what he’s doing and nods approvingly.
“You did well.”
“Thanks hyung!--”
“For your first time.”
Taehyung drops his smile as he watches Yoongi leave the kitchen with a straight face, holding a box with Mingyu’s cake inside. He lets out a sigh, continuing to decorate the cupcakes. Sohyun then walks in, watching Taehyung.
“Wow!”she exclaims, a big smile on her face. “You’re doing so well!”
“For my first time?” Taehyung says quietly. Sohyun nods.
“Yes, but also in general. They look good!” Taehyung couldn’t help but smile widely, blushing a little too.
“When you’re done with them Taehyungie, put them in the boxes that’s right behind you and take them to Yoongi’s car. We’ll be going straight to Mingyu’s party,” Sohyun says, walking out with a box of cake pops.
“Got it~~”
-
“Oh--” Yoongi says as they walk into the Park’s house. “Why are there already so many people, we haven’t set up Gyu’s table…”
“It’s just me and Yuna’s parents and our siblings,” Jimin laughs. “Oh- and also a few of my coworkers and Yuna’s friends… Jin hyung, Mae noona, Hoseok hyung, Sarang noona, and the kids are still on their way.”
“Mm.. okay. I’m going to pretend you didn’t just say “It’s just” as if you didn’t just name a bunch of people. But let me put this cake down before one of these munchkins makes me drop it,” Yoongi says, carrying the cake higher as Sian and Moonji run in between the two.
“Jiminaaahh~~” Taehyung says, walking towards his friend. “Look what I made~” He smiles happily as he sets the box down on the counter, opening it up to show Jimin the contents.
“Oh! You made these???” Jimin says, taking one out of the box.
“Yes! Sohyun helped a little, but I did most of the work,” he says proudly.
“Does it taste good though?” Jimin asks, smelling the cupcake. Taehyung frowns at him.
“Do you really have that low of expectations for me?” He pouts, Jimin laughs, putting a hand on his arm.
“AHahahaha… yeah….” Taehyung glares at him, snatching the cupcake out of his hand.
“I’ll get one of the kids to try it, they’re always honest…” He says.
“Uncle can I have it?”
Taehyung looks down to see an unfamiliar little boy.
“Yeah, here you go,” Taehyung says, handing the little boy the cupcake. The little boy takes it from his hand, bowing to Taehyung and saying thank you before running off.
“Who was that?” Taehyung says. Taehyung watches as the little boy goes over to Sian and Hana, taking a bite of the cupcake happily.
“That’s Yuna’s old friend’s son, Youngjae. He’s cute huh? He’s even wearing the same hat as you,” Jimin says, pointing to Taehyung’s beret. “Oh-- Jin hyung!”
“Where’s the birthday boy?” Jin asks, giving Jimin a hug as he and his family had just arrived. Hoseok and his family were right behind him.
“AAYEE!” Hoseok says, as he sees everyone. “Wow I still can’t wrap my mind around Mingyu being one.”
“I know,” Jimin says. “I don’t know where he is by the way. Everyone’s just passing him around-- Oh Jungkook-ah.” Jungkook's eyes grow wide as he hears his name, he walks up to the boys.
“What?”
“Do you know where Gyu is at?” Jimin asks. Jungkook shrugs simply.
“Rina was holding him earlier,” he says, turning to the kitchen and scratching his head. “Then Yuna’s friend was holding him… then his grandma was holding him… so..”
“Well he’s around here somewhere,” Jimin says.
“Are you looking for little Gyu?” Namjoon says, walking towards the group with Mingyu in his arms.
“Found him,” Jungkook says.
“Taehyung-ah!” Taehyung turns around to the voice that called his name.
“yEAH?” He calls back, Yoongi is standing by Mingyu’s table.
“Come help me set up all the sweets,” he says.
“Do I get paid for this too?” Taehyung jokes, walking over to the older man.
-
“Let me introduce you to the girls,” Yuna says, pulling you to the couch where all her girl friends were sitting. “I already introduced you to Rina but here’s everyone else.”
“Oh you must be Yn!” One of the girls says, pulling you into a hug.
“Yeah, hi, nice to meet you,” you say. “And you.. Are…?”
“OH, haha, sorry, I’m Mae, the oldest one here,” she says. She points to a group of kids behind you. “Those three are my kids, Minseok’s the oldest boy, Soojin’s my little girl, and Haneul’s my youngest son.” Both of your eyebrows raised high, she didn’t seem like she’d have so many kids.
“Oh.. wow. They’re adorable,” you say.
“This is Sohyun, she made all the sweet treats we have on Mingyu’s table over there.”
“Oh you made those?? My son came up to me earlier saying he loved the cupcake that one of the uncles gave him,” you say. Sohyun nods happily.
“Yeah I own a bakery here, but I wasn’t the only one who made all of them. I had help of course, but actually the only thing I didn’t make is those cupcakes,” Sohyun says. “Taehyung-- I don’t know if you’ve met him yet, but he’s one of our best friends and I just recently hired him to help in the bakery. Today was his first day baking actually.”
“Wow, first time? He made a big impression on my son-- which I should introduce to you girls too,” you say, laughing sheepishly. You look around for Youngjae but he must’ve been busy with the other kids. “He must be playing with the other kids,” you say, turning back to the girls.
“That’s okay, maybe later, we can introduce you to our kids too,” another girl says. “I’m Sarang by the way.”
“Nice to meet you,” you tell her. All Yuna’s friends seemed so nice and welcoming. You hoped that you would soon become close friends with them too.
“She has a daughter that’s a year or two older than Youngjae,” Yuna says.
“Oh that’s nice! Do you all have kids of your own?” They all nod except for two girls.
“Yes, but no, yes? Kind of?” Sohyun laughs. “Hana is my boyfriend’s daughter, but right now she’s basically mine too,” she says, blushing a bit.
“And Moonji is my boyfriend’s daughter too,” another girl says, she gasps, “OH, I’m Byul by the way,” she tells you. You laugh at her reaction.
“Nice to meet you. I’m so glad to hear that you all have kids around my son’s age. He doesn’t have much friends, especially since we just moved here,” you tell them.
“Oh honey, we’re your friends now too,” Mae tells you. “Our kids can have play dates any day.”
“Yeah, Yuna will give you our numbers,” Rina tells you. You look over at Yuna who’s smiling and nodding at you.
You let out a little laugh/sigh of relief, “that’d be great actually…”
“I’ll introduce you to the boys later too,” Yuna tells you.
-
“Uncle Taetae~” Moonji says, pulling onto Taehyung’s hand.
“Yessss Moonji?” he responds, not budging from his seat.
“Come play with usss,” she says, attempting to drag him to Mingyu’s play room.
“Uncle Tae is socializing~” Taehyung says, pointing to the boys whom he was sitting with.
“Moonji-ah, you can play with Uncle Tae later,” Namjoon says. Moonji pouts at her dad, whining and tugging at Taehyung’s hand.
“Oh come on Uncle Taetae,” Jimin pouts.
“Alright, but just for a bit okay?” Taehyung says, giving in. Moonji nods happily, running with Taehyung to the room.
“Uncle Taetae!” Sian yells as soon as Taehyung gets into the room. Taehyung smiles and waves at him.
“Youngjae-ah,” Huimang says, pointing to Taehyung. “That’s uncle Taetae, have you met him yet?” Youngjae looks over at Taehyung and nods.
“He gave me a cupcake earlier!”
“Did you like it?” Hana says, looking over at Youngjae as she played with some blocks. Youngjae looks over at her and nods his head.
“Oh, Taehyung,” Yuna says, as she walks into the room with Mingyu. He was wearing a little suit. “Have you met Youngjae? He’s my friend, Yn’s, son. I’ll introduce you to her-- Aigoo, Mingyu-ah tsk.” Yuna tries to fix Mingyu’s suit but he gets too excited when he sees his cousins playing with toy cars, and the little kids running around the playground Jimin and Yuna rented for the party.
Taehyung walks over to the little boy and properly introduces himself.
“Hi I’m Taehyung, but you can call me uncle Taetae,” he says, reaching out to shake his little hand.
“I’m Choi Youngjae,” Youngjae says, shaking Taehyung’s enormous hand.
“Nice to meet you, so how old are you?” Youngjae shows him four fingers. Taehyung nods.
“Almost a whole hand, wow.” Youngjae nods at him with the biggest smile. “I like your hat,” Taehyung tells him.
“Thank you, it’s like yours,” Youngjae says, pointing up at Taehyung’s head.
“Yeah, we’re matching,” Taehyung laughs. The little boy just nods his head.
“So…” Taehyung says. “Did you really like the cupcake? Was it really that good?” Youngjae smiled, nodding at him, Taehyung now had a cocky smile on his face.
“Can I go take you to Yoongi hyung and can you tell him that?”
“Who’s Yoongi hyung?” Youngjae says softly. Hana turns around at the sound of her dad’s name.
“Yoongi is my dad!” She says.
“Oh, okay, we can tell him,” Youngjae says, grabbing Taehyung’s hand and walking. Taehyung was impressed by the little boy, happily walking with him out of the kids’ room.
“WAIT!” Both Taehyung and Youngjae stops walking, turning around to the sound of the little voice.
“Uncle Taetae I want a cupcake too,” Soojin says, grabbing hold of Taehyung’s other hand.
“Okay, we can get you one.”
“Soojin-ah, you asked mommy earlier and she said no because you already had one,” Minseok yells from afar.
“That’s why I ask uncle Taetae,” Soojin says, turning her head back around with sass.
“You want a second cupcake? You like uncle Taetae’s cupcake that much?” Taehyung says happily. Soojin nods at him, hugging his hand.
“Don’t worry Minseok, I’ll tell mommy that uncle Taetae is the one who got it for her, okay?” Minseok nods at him and proceeds to play with Sian.
“Me too me too me too,” Haneul says, running up to the three of them.
-
a while later
-
“Youngjae!” You yell, finally finding your son. The party was ending soon and you had yet to introduce him to the rest of Yuna’s friend group. You found him sitting behind a small table in the kids’ room, his black beret was easy to spot.
“Baby why are you alone? Let me introduce you to my friends,” you say, bopping your son on the top of the head. Your eyes widen as the person wearing the beret turns around.
“Oh my gosh,” you say, covering your mouth. “I am so sorry, you and my son are wearing the same hat and that’s all I could see,” you say, embarrassed.
“Oh is Youngjae your son?? The kids and I are playing hide and seek,” the man says. “I’m Taehyung by the way. I’m guessing you’re Yuna’s friend that she told me she had to introduce me to.”
“Yeah, he’s my son. I was wondering why he was alone,” you laugh. “But I caught the wrong person I guess. And I’m Yn. Sorry if my son caused you any trouble, he’s very talkative.”
“No no no!” He says, shaking his head and his hands. “He didn’t cause me any trouble at all, he made me really happy actually. He said my cupcakes were the best,” he says, with a proud expression on his face. You couldn’t help but smile.
“Oh you’re the uncle that gave him the cupcake!”
“Yeah, that was me,” he says, he had a cute boxy smile.
“UNCLE TAETAE FIND US ALREADY,” you two hear. You both laugh, looking around you for the voice you just heard.
“That was for sure Soojin,” Taehyung says, walking around the room.
“Mae’s daughter?” You ask.
“Yep, she’s a sassy one.”
“So how many kids are we looking for?” You say, as you try to help Taehyung by looking under all the tables and behind the curtains.
“Well, it’s only my friends’ kids that are hiding plus Youngjae. I believe all of Yuna and Jimin’s friends and family who have kids have already gone home,” he says. “That makes eight, nine including Youngjae.”
“Is Mingyu hiding too?” You ask as you open a closet door. A loud scream comes out from both you and the little girl hiding inside.
Taehyung’s head whips to you two and he laughs.
“That’s Soojin,” he says.
-
“Sorry, we had nine kids to find,” you say as you, Taehyung, and the kids make it back to the living room. Everyone seemed to have gone home and it was just Yuna’s friend group who stayed back.
“I see you’ve met Taehyung,” Yuna says. You nod.
“And Minseok, Soojin, Haneul, Moonji, Hana, Huimang, and Sian,” you say. “Mingyu was there too but I already met him beforehand. Also I’m pretty proud of myself for remembering everyone’s names.”
“Well there’s more to remember,” Yuna laughs, pointing to the guys. A group of handsome men waves at you.
“I’m Moonji’s father, Namjoon, nice to meet you,” The guy with the cute dimples says, shaking your hand.
“And my boyfriend,” Byul whispers to you. It was loud enough for Namjoon to hear as well.
“And Byul’s boyfriend,” he says, he had the prettiest smile you’ve ever seen.
“Hi I’m Jin--:”
“He’s our dad!” Soojin exclaims.
“My dad,” Haneul says, pointing to himself.
“Our,” Minseok corrects.
You couldn’t help but laugh at the three siblings’ conversation.
“Yoongi, Hana’s dad,” This one had a gummy smile that you found adorable, He raised his hand and smiled over at you.
“aNd My BoYfRiEnD,” Sohyun says, teasing Byul.
“Shut UP,” Byul says, playfully shoving her.
“Hoseok, uncle Hobi, Jhope I go by all~,” this is the loud, cheerful one you’ve been hearing the whole day. He let out happy vibes with his personality and smile.
“My husband,” Sarang winks at you.
“Mommy says that a lot now because they just got married,” Huimang tells you. You looked at both of them with raised brows.
“No way! Congratulations to the both of you!” Hoseok laughs, ruffling Huimang’s hair. They both say their thank you’s to you.
“You already met me,” Jungkook says. You nod. “But do you remember my name?”
“Jungkook, and your girlfriend is Rina, your son’s Sian,” you say. They all raise their brows, clapping for you, impressed that you were able to remember, considering you learned a lot of new names today.
“It’s nice to meet everyone-- Oh wait I totally forgot, I’m Yn and this is my son Youngjae,” you said, “go say hi,” you tell him.
“Hello,” Youngjae says. He then slowly looks up at you. “What else do I say now?” They all laugh at his question.
“It’s nice to meet you,” Sarang says. “Did you have fun today?” Your son immediately nods his head.
“I made a lot of friends today!” He says excitedly.
“Yeah we’re friends!” Moonji says, pointing at him, telling her dad.
“Do you want to have play dates with them sometime?” You ask him. Youngjae nods excitedly.
“I like Youngjae,” Minseok tells his mom. Your heart melted as you hear all of the kids enjoying your son’s company.
“Can we play with him all the time auntie Yn,” Soojin asks sweetly, leaning into her mom’s lap.
“Of course, we’d both love that,” you tell her. You expected to meet new friends today, but you didn’t expect them to all be so welcoming, even down to the kids! You only hoped this friendship would grow from here. Even though you’d just met, you felt like this was one of those decisions you make in life that you never regret.
“It’s official, we all love her,” Rina says out of nowhere.
“We must add her to the chat,” Byul says. The girls all looked at each other, nodding. The boys on the other hand all had matching looks. They were all smiling at each other, looking over at the girls.
“Here we go again,” Hoseok says, laughing. You raise an eyebrow in confusion.
“The chat?” You ask, you turn to look up at Taehyung who was still standing by you.
“I’d say run…” Taehyung says, leaning in to whisper to you. “But this should be a fun experience.”

where’s moonji?
the most beautiful moment in life | drabble/oneshot #4
genre: fluff, family
tw: very very very light mentions of death (if you read page turner, it’s just mentioning moonji’s mom)
member(s): namjoon
a/n: THIS IS FOR YOU ANON WHO ASKED FOR NAMJOON/BYUL/MOONJI CONTENT NEXT! <3 and also thank you to @serenjiminey for this idea~
“for the drabble you could probably do something where byul and joon work on a small children’s book about the whole gang for moonji’s bday where joon writes it and byul draws the illustrations for it :)”
also since this is a drabble, i didn’t make the little story too long, but i did try my best to make it sound like a kids book! hope this fulfills your need for some content, even for just a teeny bit~
btw, namjoon’s yn is byul in the other aus (yn in page turner) -> yn here too since it’s a solo member drabble anyways :)
and lastly, none of this would make any sense to you if you haven’t read the series! here’s the link to the master list:
the most beautiful moment in life
This takes place after taehyung’s au~
✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧
“Mommy!” Moonji yells.
You were currently working, standing behind the counter at the library you worked at. Your eyes widened as her yell echoed throughout the quiet library. You put your finger to your lip and Namjoon puts his hand over her mouth, but instead his whole hand went over her entire face. The two walked over to you and you scanned a few more books you were entering into the system.
“Sorry,” Namjoon whispers to you as he gets closer. Moonji managed to get her dad’s hand off of her face.
“Hi,” she whispers to you, smiling widely. You couldn’t help but laugh a little.
“Hi sweetie, come here,” you tell her, reaching over the counter to take her. Namjoon passes her over and you press a small kiss to her cheek, hugging her tightly. “What brings you two by?”
Namjoon looks around him as if no one can know.
“What?” You say.
He then reaches over to cover Moonji’s ears, making her whine. “Birth-day-talk,” he mouths. Your mouth forms an ‘o’ shape when you get what he said.
“Moonji theres some new books over there at the kids’ section, do you want to go check it out?” You ask, Moonji furrows her eyebrows as she couldn’t hear what you were saying with Namjoon’s big hands on both sides of her head.
“Oh! Joooon~” You say, pushing his hands off of her little ears.
“Daddy and I will take you to the kids’ section okay? They have new books there,” you tell her. With this, her eyes lit up and she excitedly wiggles out of your hold and runs out of the back counter. She knew where to go as she’s been here plenty of times. You then tell your coworker that you’ll be “helping them find a book” so that she can take your spot in entering the rest of the books.
-
As Moonji sat on a bean bag surrounded by the new books she picked out, you and Namjoon stood by the shelves, discussing what to do for her birthday that was coming up.
This was the second year you got to be there for Moonji’s birthday. The first one being her third birthday and now she was turning four! How time flies.
Her third birthday was just a small party with the group. You and Namjoon made her a cake that day instead of getting one from Sohyun’s bakery and the two of you treated her like the princess she is. The two of you got her a couple of books that reminded you two of her. I know. Typical dad author and librarian girlfriend. But books are really special to Moonji! Namjoon has told you about how the very first thing Moonji’s mom and him bought when they were expecting, was a book for her. Moonji loved flipping through pages and looking at the pretty pictures, as she does not know how to read just yet, and also having her dad or aunt and uncles, and maybe sometimes her older cousins read to her.
So of course you had to get her a book for her birthday. She loved it anyways! But this year you were thinking of something a little different, yet the same.
“Why don’t we make a book for her?” You tell Namjoon. He tilts his head to the side.
“A book? Like write one?”
“Yes! I mean, you’re a best-selling author after all~ Why not make one for Moonji?” You look behind you to see Moonji engrossed in the book she’s holding.
“You write, I do the illustrations, what do you think?” You ask, you already had so many ideas running through your head.
Namjoon laughs at your excitement, he found it adorable, “I like it. But what would we write about?”
You think a bit to yourself, thinking about all the children’s books Moonji has read.
“We can talk about the whole group, maybe a fun, little birthday story? It’ll be cute!”
-
“So how do you want to do this?” Namjoon asks you. The two of you were currently in his office while Moonji was down for a nap. It’s been a few hours since you two first talked about it. You were very excited to work with your favorite author on a book!! I mean, you never imagined for it to be a children’s book, but nevertheless, you were excited!
“I don’t know, I’ve never done this before,” you tell him, staring down at your iPad. You were in charge of the illustrations, something Moonji always looked forward to whenever getting new books. “You can write first? Then I’ll draw accordingly~”
“Okay, but I’m going to need your help in writing,” Namjoon says, taking out his laptop. You giggle, leaning your head onto his arm.
“I can’t believe I’m making a book with my favorite--”
“Sttoooopp,” Namjoon laughs, nudging you off. “I would think we were over that.”
“Hey! Boyfriend or not, you’re always going to be my favorite author,” you say, laying back on his arm. Namjoon shakes his head, smiling and also giving up with you.
“Fine, you win,” he says, turning his head, placing a hand on your cheek and pressing a kiss to your forehead. “But my princess’ birthday is in a few days so we really need to get started on this.”
-
~a few days later, the night of Moonji’s birthday~
Moonji’s party has come to an end and Namjoon and you were finally going to give her her birthday present.
“Daaadddy~” Moonji says as she was already climbing into her bed, ready for bedtime. “Where’s my present?” She pouts, looking down at her empty lap, motioning with her hands. Namjoon laughs, climbing in to sit on her bed as well, carrying Moonji onto his lap.
“Yn is getting it,” he says. “It’s from both of us and it’s full of love, you’re going to like it.” His daughter’s eyes light up as she sees you walking into her room with a gift wrapped in your hand.
“Are you excited?!” You squeal. You were very excited. More excited than Moonji herself.
“Yeah!” She laughs, jumping up and reaching out to you. You hand her the gift as you get closer.
“Here, happy birthday baby,” you say, kissing her head as you hand her the gift.
“Thank youuu~” She says, quickly ripping the wrapping apart. A small gasp comes out of her mouth when she sees the cover.
Where’s Moonji?
It said. With a cute illustration of Moonji on the front with her adorable smile and crescent eyes.
“It’s me!” She says happily.
“Daddy and I made this especially for you,” you tell her as you sit down next to Namjoon.
“Can you read it to meeee,” she says, looking up at her dad.
“Of course,” Namjoon says.
Where’s Moonji
To our little moonchild by Daddy and Yn
Today is a very special day.
What day is it today?
“Moonji’s birthday!” Moonji yells out, making the both of you laugh.
Daddy and Yn were preparing for the princess’ birthday!
Of course, they were not alone.
Where’s Uncle Jin?
Uncle Jin walked in with his kids, Minseok, Soojin, and Haneul.
Of course, Auntie Mae was right by their side.
“Where’s Moonji?” Soojin asks. Haneul wanted to find out too.
Minseok, being the oldest, knew where Moonji was.
It was still early so Moonji was still sleeping!
“Uncle Joon, can we go to Moonji’s room?” Minseok asks.
Daddy says okay.
The three ran to Moonji’s room, ready to see the birthday girl.
“Good morning Moonji!” Yells the three. Moonji stirred in her sleep, not knowing what was going on.
Haneul pouts as Moonji doesn’t wake up.
They want to say happy birthday!
“Uncle Joonie!” Yelled Haneul.
Daddy came into the room right away.
“What’s wrong?” He asks.
“Why I don’t wake up?” Moonji asks, looking up at you.
“Maybe because you stayed up late watching movies with daddy again,” you say, booping her nose.
“Moonji won’t wake up!” Complained the three.
Daddy tells them that she’ll be up soon.
The three then left the princess in her room.
Then Uncle Yoongi, Auntie Sohyun, and Hana came in with cake!
Moonji’s birthday cake.
Special cake that fell from (24/7) Heaven.
Hana looked for Moonji as well.
“Uncle Joonie, where’s Moonji?”
“Sleeping,” says Soojin.
“But it’s her birthday!” Argued Hana.
Will Moonji miss her party?
“No no no! Wake up!” Yelled Moonji as her dad continues to read.
“Haaaaaappppy Birthday Moonji!”
Even the loud voice of Uncle Hobi did not wake up princess Moonji.
Auntie Sarang and Huimang looked around for the birthday girl.
“Where’s Moonji?” They asked.
“Sleeping,” says Hana.
Now Uncle Jimin, Auntie Yuna, and baby Mingyu came!
Hey.
Baby Mingyu was sleeping too!
But where was Uncle Taetae? Auntie Bora? And Youngjae?
Uncle Kookie and Auntie Rina and Sian came instead.
“Moonji is STILL sleeping,” complained the kids before they can even ask.
“It’s okay,” says Yn. “Let’s decorate while we wait!”
Uncle Kookie helped blowing up balloons while Auntie Rina tied them.
Auntie Yuna put baby Mingyu down to help Uncle Jin and Uncle Yoongi with cooking!
Uncle Jimin put up streamers with Uncle Hobi.
Auntie Sarang and Auntie Mae organized the presents!
Auntie Sohyun fixed the desert table.
And Daddy and Yn were EVERYWHERE!
“I’m here!” Yelled Uncle Taetae.
Youngjae and Auntie Bora were right behind him!
“Where’s Moonji?” They all asked, presents in their hands.
“STILL SLEEPING!”
As everyone finished up with the decorations, it was time to wake up the princess.
How do you wake up a princess from their deep sleep?
“A true love’s kiss!” Moonji yelled.
“You’re right,” Namjoon tells her.
Daddy and Yn quietly walked into the princess’ room.
Both of them pressed a kiss to her cheek, instantly waking her up.
“Good morning!” They yelled.
Moonji smiles from ear to ear.
“Happy birthday princess,” Daddy says.
As Namjoon was about to close the book, you stopped him.
“Wait! There’s still a page or two left,” you tell him. Namjoon furrowed his brows as he only remembers writing until that part. You motioned for him to keep going. Moonji already flipped it before he did.
A little gasp escaped her lips and Namjoon was just as surprised.
You drew an extra page or two, adding in Moonji’s real mom.
Everyone that loves Moonji was at the party!
Uncle Jin was there. Auntie Mae and Minseok, Soojin, and Haneul!
Uncle Yoongi was there with Auntie Sohyun and Hana!
Uncle Hobi was there too! Auntie Sarang and Huimang came with.
Uncle Jimin, Auntie Yuna, and baby Mingyu too!
Uncle Taetae and Auntie Bora, with Youngjae~
Uncle Kookie was with Sian and Auntie Rina!
And of course Daddy was there with Yn.
I call her mommy.
Oh! And my real mommy was there too.
Can you see her?
You look up at Namjoon as he reads the last few lines. A tear ran down his cheek. You look down at Moonji and she was smiling, running her hand over the drawings.
Mommy was there with us. Right in our hearts.
Everyone she loves was there.
Moonji had a very happy birthday.
Now the book was really over.
“I love it!” Moonji yells with joy, throwing her hands up in the air. Namjoon wraps his arms around her, pressing kisses to her cheeks, making her giggle.
“Happy birthday again princess,” you tell her.
Namjoon then looks at you with teary eyes.
“When did you put that in there?” He asks.
“You sent me out to get it all printed and I had it made before hand. I sneakily added it in when you gave me the flash drive,” you say, smiling up at him.
“... was it okay though?” You then ask. You knew that Moonji’s birthday wasn’t the easiest day to celebrate every year considering it’s also the death anniversary of her mom. Namjoon did his best to try and not to let the bad memories of that day get to him. He still loved her of course, and will always have her in his heart. Now that he had you with his daughter, you never ever want it to seem like you were ever replacing her. You want to let them both know she’ll always be there in memory and in your hearts. You, personally, never met her, but you knew she was amazing.
“More than okay,” he tells you, pulling you in to kiss you on the forehead. “Thank you.”

daddy duties | 24
“Oh-- Jin hyung,” Jimin says, confused when Jin walked in with both his sons, not dressed for the occasion. The group was all at Hoseok’s dance studio, using the white room as a photoshoot area for the kids.
“I had a feeling Haneul would dirty his clothes before we got here so I figured I dress them here instead.” Jimin still looked at him confused as he walked in without anything else. He figured he’d find out on his own and just laughed at him.
“What??” Jin says, confused.
Jungkook was setting up his camera when Jimin walked over to him.
“Why are you smiling like that..” Jungkook says, looking back and forth from his camera to Jimin.
“Jin hyung forgot Minseok and Haneul’s clothes,” he whispered to the younger one. “I think he left noona and Soojin at home too.” Jungkook lets out a small laugh, shaking his head.
“AH!” Jin yells from the back.
“What…” Minseok says, sitting up as he was previously laying on the floor.
“Stay with uncles, I need to go pick up mommy and Soojinie,” Jin says, running out the door, knowing darn well he’s going to get yelled at.
“Daddy’s going to be in trouble,” Minseok tells Haneul. Haneul’s eyebrows raise, putting both his hands on his face.
“Uh oh!”
-
After the picture taking, the girls separated from the boys.
“Come to daddy,” Jimin says, taking Mingyu from you. “Say see you later mommy~” He says to you, moving Mingyu’s little hand side to side. He giggles as you wave back to him. With all the time you two spent with Mingyu together, Jimin has become very comfortable and more confident in taking care of him without you around.
“Mommy, I go with daddy and uncles too right?” Sian says, holding onto Haneul and Minseok’s hand.
“Yes sir,” Rina says with a thumbs up. With that, the three ran off to their dads. Leaving you and the girls with four little princesses.
“Are we going together to get ready?” Hana says, Sohyun nods, reaching out to hold her hand.
“But we’re ready already,” Moonji says, kicking a rock on the ground.
“You’re gonna help the aunties get ready!” Byul says.
“I’m so excited for mommy to get married to daddy!!” Huimang says, jumping up and down. Everyone ‘aww’d’ at her, Sarang leaning down to give her a kiss. Soojin smiles at her unnie, turning around to look at her mom.
“I’m excited for my mommy to marry daddy too!!” She says loudly. Mae couldn’t help but laugh, grabbing her swiftly under her arms and picking her up.
“Silly girl, mommy and daddy got married years ago~” She says, booping her daughter on the nose. Soojin pouts at her, crossing her arms.
“Well how come I wasn’t invited..”
You and the girls laugh at her little comment, shaking your head as you walk to the parking lot. The boys decided to get ready at Jin and Mae’s house while the girls went to Hoseok and Sarang’s.
-
Mingyu was beginning to cry when the eleven of them got to Jin’s place.
“Let’s change you back into some house clothes before you make a mess,” Jin says, carrying Haneul into his room.
“What’s that smell?” Taehyung says, sniffing the air. He then covers his nose, walking away from the area. Jungkook looks like he already got a whiff of it earlier, staying as far as possible from the boys.
“What?” Jimin says.
“Jiminah, I think you should go change Mingyu,” Namjoon says, grimacing.
“Can you not smell it?” Yoongi says, picking up Mingyu’s diaper bag off of the floor and handing it to Jimin.
“N-no,” Jimin says, bending Mingyu over to smell his bottom. “Oh-- okay, I smell it,” he says, scrunching his nose and running to the bathroom.
After he has changed Mingyu, Jimin walks out of the bathroom with Mingyu in only a onesie.
“He ruined his outfit,” he tells the group, sighing. “I’ll change him into his backup wedding outfit later.”
“Understandable,” Jin says, pointing to Haneul, who was running around with nothing but a shirt and a diaper. “I brought out Haneul’s old playpen by the way. Gyu could use it if you want him too.”
“Ah, thanks hyung,” Jimin says, walking over to the playpen Jin set up and putting his son in.
“Okay, so what do we do now,” Hoseok says, sitting down on the couch. “The girls are all fixing their hair and putting on makeup, but ours shouldn’t take that long right?” Namjoon nods, all of them just looking around at each other.
“Should we eat?” Jin says.
“Yeah-- yeah, we shouldn’t get married on an empty stomach,” Jungkook says, running to the kitchen.
-
“It’s almost time,” you say to Sarang, as she looks at the mirror, fixing her hair one final time.
“Do I look okay?” she asks, looking at you and the girls. A nervous look on her face.
“Okay??” Rina says, walking up to her and making her look back at the mirror.
“Sis,, you look WAY more than okay,” Byul says, walking up to her as well.
“Gorgeous would be an understatement,” Mae cuts in.
“Ahh! I’m so excited for Hoseok to see you,” Sohyun says.
Dahee couldn’t say anything as tears began falling from her eyes.
“Ah! Don’t cry aunt Dahee!” Huimang says, pressing a tissue to her cheek. “Your makeup is going to smudge!” Sarang turns and laughs at her daughter, motioning for her to come to her.
“Are you as excited as I am?” She asks. Huimang nods her head quickly.
“Well I guess we should get going huh?” You say. “Don’t wanna keep Hoseok waiting.”
-
The wedding was finally starting, the bridesmaid, groomsmen, the maid of honor, had already walked down the aisle. Hoseok wasn’t in tears just yet but he couldn’t stop smiling as he saw his best friends walking towards him as he stood at the altar. Taehyung was his best man so he stood beside him the whole time. Sarang wasn’t out just yet, but all that was left to walk down were the kids! The four beautiful flower girls started walking down the aisle. Hana led it, smiling at her uncle as she threw the flower petals on the ground. Behind her was Moonji, then Soojin. Hoseok smiled and waved at each of them as they got closer and the tears began to pool his eyes once his eyes fell on his daughter.
“Come here,” he whispered, hugging Huimang right when she got to him. He hugged her tightly, pressing a kiss to her cheek. Huimang giggles, her small hand holding her dad’s cheek, a little thumb wiping away a tear.
“Don’t cry daddy, mommy’s almost here and she looks beautiful,” she tells him, a small laugh coming out of Hoseok’s lips. He nods, letting her go off with the other girls. As he stood straight, he couldn’t help but laugh at the little boys walking down. All his nephews , but Mingyu, was there. Sian and Haneul were holding signs. Sian’s read “Uncle Hobi, here comes your girl!” Hoseok laughs as he reads it, but laughs even harder when Haneul starts running to the altar. You could see how big Minseok’s eyes got when his brother started running, holding the sign tightly in front of him. The sign read: “They didn’t trust me with the rings”
“Aigoo, aigoo,” Jin says, as Haneul runs straight to him. “I’m sorry,” he whispers to Hobi as he picks up his son. He simply laughed it off.
Now that everyone was here, it was just Sarang who’s left to walk. Everybody stood up as they watched her appear at the end of the altar. Hoseok’s expression changed so quickly and he couldn’t help but cry at the sight of his bride walking towards him.
“Why sad,” Haneul says, pointing towards Hobi. Jin quickly shushes him, putting his hand down. Haneul’s eyebrows furrow, his lips turning into a pout.
All the bridesmaids and groomsmen were already tearing up as well. You all were very happy for your two best friends. Especially knowing Hoseok for so long and knowing what he’s been through. You all were very thankful for Sarang and Huimang coming in out of nowhere. Life’s crazy, but it somehow always ends up pretty great.
-
The wedding was now ending and the two were about to kiss as husband and wife. Your favorite part about these weddings were the reaction of your nieces and nephews. You turn to look at them as they announce “You may now kiss the bride.”
Of course, they all cover their eyes, peeking through their little fingers. You looked at Huimang who had the biggest smile you’ve ever seen on her. You felt your heart melt right then and there.
Hoseok was taking his sweet time brushing away Sarang’s hair while you all patiently waited for them to finally kiss. But before he gets the chance to do so, a high pitch scream comes out from the audience. You all were taken aback, looking at where the scream came from. You and Jimin turn red instantly, knowing that it was Mingyu. You felt sorry as your mother in law tries her best to calm him down but you can see him looking towards you as he cried.
“I am so so so sorry,” you say to the newly married couple, running down to your mother in law to get your son.
“Shhh shh, mommy’s here,” you say, taking him into your arms. He quickly quiets down once you hold him. You run back quickly to your place with your girls, telling Hoseok and Sarang to proceed. They laugh at you two, turning back to each other before Hoseok puts his hand on both sides of her face, leaning down to kiss her on the lips.
Everyone clapped as they finally had their first kiss as a married couple.
-
“You really had to go and steal our thunder huh?” Sarang says to Mingyu. You all were now at the reception, Sarang’s favorite music playing in the background as everyone was eating their food.
“I’m so sorry about that,” you say sheepishly. Sarang puts a hand on your shoulder.
“Oh my gosh, I was totally kidding. It was great, the kids really added a comedic touch to our whole wedding,” she says, turning to Haneul as he smiles cheekily at her.
“Is it working?” Taehyung says on stage, tapping on the microphone. You all turn to him and he smiles.
“Good evening everyone. My name’s Kim Taehyung, I’ll be the MC for tonight..Ah… I think I’m going to keep MCing at my friend’s wedding until I have a girlfriend of my own,” he says, getting a laugh from the audience. “The last wedding we had was Jimin and Yn’s,” he says, nodding to you and your husband. “Back then, the MC was me and Hoseok hyung because we were the only ones in the group that didn’t have a kid and were single. And I still can’t believe I’m MCing at his wedding.”
“When Taehyung gets a girlfriend, are we still going to make him MC the next wedding?” Jimin asks the group. Once again, you were all sitting in one huge table. Jungkook nods from across him.
“Him and Jin hyung for my wedding,” he says.
“Yeah, you’re going to be next?” Jimin asks. Jungkook nods.
“Unless one of you beat me to it again,” he says, glaring at Hoseok. Hoseok puts his hand up, walking to hide behind Sarang.
“You’re saying I could’ve been the one getting married right now???” Rina asks, turning to Jungkook. He closes his eyes and nods slowly.
“Blame Hoseok hyung,” he points. Rina turns to Hoseok but both the newly wed couple were gone.
You shake your head at the both of them. A slow song starts to play, you turn to Jimin. He immediately gets up, taking your hand. You hold Mingyu in one arm, and hold his hand with the other. Out of nowhere, your mother in law comes up to the three of you.
“Do you want me to take him so you two can dance?” She says.
“Umm,” you thought, looking to Jimin. He says nothing but smiles at you and you shake your head, turning back to his mom.
“It’s okay mom, thank you, we’re good,” you say, she smiles at the both of you, saying okay. You turn back to your husband and he puts his hands on both sides of your waist. The three of you swaying back and forth to the song.
“Can you believe, and I know all we’ve been doing is mentioning how the last wedding was ours, but I just can’t believe that we have a whole family now,” Jimin says. The two of you look at Mingyu who has been staring at Jimin’s shiny coat the whole time.
“I know, I’m so happy,” you say, leaning up to give him a kiss.
“I know it wasn’t all in our plan to go this fast, and I know how hard it was for us to settle in, but I’m glad everything happened the way they did,” you say, you look down at Mingyu who’s eyelids were getting heavy. “I think we’re getting the hang of things, everything’s going perfectly imperfect.” Jimin smiles down at you bringing a hand up to brush your hair away from your face.
“I’m just thankful that I had you with me and you were patient enough to deal with me being impatient about everything. I’m glad I was able to learn along the way with you and that you helped me realize that not everything has to be perfect the first time. You’re right, it may seem like it’s done wrong at first, but all our mistakes only lead to the right decision.”
“And we wouldn’t have it any other way.”
-
“So where are you going for your honeymoon?” Namjoon asks. The reception had ended. Just like before, the whole group stayed back as everyone had already made their separate ways. Your in-laws had already gone back to your house. They offered to take Mingyu off your hands and put him to bed while you stayed with your friends, but he just looked so peaceful sleeping on Jimin’s chest that you had to pass her offer.
“It’s a surprise for Sarang so I can’t say,” Hoseok says, taking a bite of their wedding cake.
“Oh is Huimang coming with you guys by the way? Or will she be staying here with Dahee?” Mae asks, feeding some cake to Haneul. Unlike the last wedding, he can eat some now.
“Oh I have to go back home tomorrow,” Dahee answers.
“She’ll be staying with us!” Sohyun says excitedly.
“Oh you’re not staying here?” You ask Dahee. She shakes her head no.
“I could only take a quick vacation off from work, I have to get back as soon as possible,” she says, looking at Huimang as she plays with her cousins from the other table. “I’m going to miss my little one though. She used to be at my house all the time and now I rarely see her.”
“Well maybe you’d just have to visit us often,” Sarang says.
“Or we’ll come to you,” says Hoseok.
“Maybe,” Dahee says. “I’m glad she finally has kids her age to play with though.”
“Yeah, Hana’s very excited to have Huimang with us. She’s always wanted her to be her sister,” Yoongi says. “I’m not sure how we’re going to take care of two kids, while working but we’ll figure it out.”
“If anything,” you say, “we’ll all be there to help, so you two won’t have to worry.” Everyone nods, agreeing to you.
“You guys are literally the best,” Sarang says. After that the group was quiet and you all just exchanged looks.
“Sorry I’m waiting for the part where someone announces they’re pregnant.” Taehyung says, making everyone laugh. You roll your eyes at him.
“Would be a big surprise if you had said it was you,” Jungkook says. Taehyung squints at him.
“Well unfortunately I’m not a seahorse, so I can’t get pregnant.” Jungkook’s mouth opens slightly.
“T-that’s not what I meant…” Rina puts an arm over his shoulder.
“It’s okay buddy. Your two brain cells are not working right now. It’s late.”
“He meant if you suddenly announced that you had a kid yourself,” Jin butts in. Jungkook immediately points at him.
“See hyung understood me!” Jin looks over at Jungkook and sends him a wink.
“Um, that’s my story, get your own,” Hoseok says.
“I wasn’t here for your story, what even happened,” Byul says, taking a sip of her drink. Hoseok looks over at Sarang, about to tell their story.
“Well-”
“I knocked on daddy’s door!” Huimang says out of nowhere.
“Then Huimang noona became our cousin!” Sian butts in. It seems like the kids had run out of cake to eat and now they made their way back to the grownups table.
“Long story short, Uncle Hobi had a child he never knew about and fell in love with her mom, the end. Can we go home now?” Hana says, pulling on her dad’s arm.
“The story is a lot more than just that…” Hoseok says, glaring at the kids.
“Daddy, I’m slee--” Soojin says, yawning, reaching her arms up for her dad to pick her up.
“Okay, I guess it’s nearing bedtime,” Namjoon says, picking up Moonji, who was already knocked out on the kids’ table.
“Mine’s been knocked out for a couple hours now,” you say, looking at Mingyu and his waterfall of drool on his dad’s dress shirt.
-
“Other than the scream before the kiss, he did well today,” Jimin says, walking into your room. The long day has made you three very tired. Usually, Mingyu slept between you and Jimin but tonight he seemed to be comfortable and tired enough to sleep in his own crib.
“He did,” you say sleepily. Jimin covers you with the blanket before slipping in next to you.
“He’s growing up fast isn’t he?” He says. “He was just sleeping in our bed last night and now he’s on his own,” Jimin says, laughing. You looked up at him through your sleepy eyes.
“Don’t get used to it, I’m sure he’ll be back in our bed tomorrow..”
“Yeah, probably..” Jimin puts his hand on your head, pushing your hair back, making you even more sleepy.
“Stop trying to stay awake,” he laughs as you try to open your eyes only for it to roll back, sleepiness is quickly flooding your system. “Aigoo~.” He scoots in while pulling you to his chest at the same time. You quickly melt in his arms, rubbing your cheek on his chest.
“I’m sleepy~” You mumble. Jimin laughs at you again.
“I know, I know, just go to sleep, we’ll continue in the morning..” Jimin says, listening to you as you slowly start to softly snore. He presses a kiss to your head, hugging you tightly.
“I love you~~”

daddy duties | 21
(images under text~)
“Hey! How are you feeling?” Sarang says over the phone. You and your family, and even your in-laws, were on a train back to Seoul.
“Better,” you sigh. You looked over at Jimin who was asleep, hugging your sleeping son on his chest as well. “Mingyu still has a stuffy nose though. But my in-laws are coming home with us to help out. They’ll be here until the wedding since they’re attending too.”
“Aww poor baby,” Sarang responds. “I hope he gets better soon. When Hope was younger, she got sick a lot during winter because of the cold. But it was never too bad. My parents always knew what to do and I lived with them at the time, so Hope always got better. Mingyu will get better soon for sure.”
“Yeah, they are a great help. I’m so glad they’ll be with us even if it’s just for a few days,” you say with a laugh. “I’ll have time to meet Dahee when we get back, and Jimin and I can actually go to your bachelor and bachelorette party.”
“Ugh yess!!! I’m so excited for thattt~~~ and yes, Dahee can’t wait to meet you too! We can go out tonight if you’re not too tired…? Hoseok and I’s treat.”
“Yeah that sounds great actually. Jimin’s asleep right now so I’ll talk to him about it when he wakes up. I’ll ask our parents if they can watch Mingyu too.” You look over at Jimin’s mom, who was already listening in to your conversation. She mouths something to you and you give her a questioning look.
“Go out with your friend. We’ll take care of Mingyu, don’t worry,” she repeats, smiling at you and giving you a little wink, making you laugh.
“Mom just said she’ll watch Mingyu for us, and I’m sure Jimin won’t mind. When and where are we meeting?”

daddy duties | 7
~ Jeon Residence ~
“Babe can you go wake up Sian, it’s time for breakfast,” Rina says as she places Sian’s breakfast on the table.
“Yes ma’am,” Jungkook replies, running to Sian’s room. He opens the door slowly, turning on the lights, making the little boy stir.
“Good morning buddy, it’s time to get up,” Jungkook says, walking over to his bed and placing a kiss to his son’s forehead.
“M-morning,” Sian says, rubbing his eyes with his little hands. “Is cousins coming today?” He says in a little voice.
Jungkook laughs, “yes, they’ll be here. That’s why you have to get up and eat breakfast so then we can get ready and they can come over.” Sian nods, getting up slowly. Jungkook smiles, reaching out to mess up Sian’s hair.
“Let’s go to mommy, she has your breakfast,” Jungkook says.
-
“I’m going to get Sian washed up and changed real quick. Namjoon, Byul, and Moonji should be here soon,” Rina says, holding Sian’s hand and walking with him to the bathroom.
“Okay, I’ll tidy up,” Jungkook says, turning around to the mess Sian had made in the short time he had after breakfast.
Ding dong!
“Oh she meant soon soon,” Jungkook says, dropping the toy cars on the floor and walking towards the door.
“Uncle Kookie!” Moonji yells as soon as Jungkook opens the door.
“Hey princess,” Jungkook says, bending down to give her a little hug.
“How are you? Felt like forever since we saw each other,” Namjoon says, pulling Jungkook up to give him a hug.
“I’ve been good. It’s been a month at least right?”
“I think so, but way over a month since we all were together,” Namjoon laughs.
“Oh I miss everyone so much, I can’t wait until they all get here,” Byul says excitedly.
“Me too! Me too!” Moonji says, jumping up and down.
“It seems like she got so big,” Jungkook said, looking down at Moonji.
“She did, I think she’s getting my height,” Namjoon says.
“Where’s Sian and Rina?” Byul asks, looking around.
“Rina’s getting Sian washed up and changed, they shouldn’t take long,” Jungkook responds.
“Sian oppa!” Moonji yells running down the hallway, making Jungkook and her dad laugh.
“It looks like she missed him a lot,” Byul laughs.
~ Kim Residence ~
“Mommy let’s go!” Soojin yells, running towards the door.
“Not so fast little lady,” Jin says, grabbing his daughter before she reaches the door knob. “Before we go see your cousins you have to eat breakfast with your brothers first,” he says, carrying her back to the kitchen table.
“Sweetie you haven’t even brushed your hair, or your teeth yet,” Mae says, tying Soojin’s hair back as she starts eating.
“Mommy is all our cousins going to be there?” Minseok asks, chewing his food.
“Yes, they’ll all be there,” Mae smiles.
“Yay!” They all said, even little Haneul.
“Will baby Mingyu be there too?” Soojin asks, looking up at Mae.
“Of course, we’ll all be there,” Mae says, walking off to the kids' room to get their things ready.
“So don’t take too long in eating so we can get ready, okay?” Jin says, ruffling Haneul’s hair.
~ Jung Residence ~
“Hurry up baby girl,” Hoseok says, knocking on Huimang’s room.
“She’s changing, she’ll be out soon,” Sarang says, standing next to her fiance.
“They grow up too fast, last week I was just helping her get dressed, and now she wants to do it on her own?” Hoseok says in a sad voice.
“It’s just this one time, maybe you can help her get ready for bed tonight,” Sarang says.
“I better--”
“Done,” Huimang says, opening the door, interrupting her dad. Sarang and Hoseok looks, her up and down, giggling a bit.
“Sweetheart, your shirt is backwards,” Hoseok says.
“You also should really change into pants Hope, it’s too cold for shorts outside,” Sarang says.
“Come on princess, let’s help you get ready properly,” Hoseok says happily, glancing at Sarang with a little smirk.
-
“Hana!” Huimang yells.
“Hana?” Hoseok says before gasping, “YOONGI HYUNG!” Sarang turns her head to where they ran off and it was her turn.
“Sohyun!” Sarang yells before running off as well.
“Oh my gosh,” Sohyun says, as Sarang runs into her arms. “Didn’t know we’d run into you,” she says, giggling.
“Ahhh hyung I missed you,” Hoseok says, rubbing his cheek against Yoongi’s, making him groan.
“Missed you too,” Yoongi says, pushing him away.
“Let’s walk together,” Hana says, grabbing hold of Huimang’s hand.
“Okay,” Huimang responds, walking off with Hana.
“Ugh, look at our daughters hyung,” Hoseok says, putting his hand over his heart. “We should hold hands too,” he says, looking at Yoongi. Yoongi laughs.
“My hand is occupied,” he says, raising him and Sohyun’s hand.
“No problem hyung! That’s why you have two hands,” Hoseok says, taking Yoongi’s right hand and walking off.
“Are you sure you don’t want to give him my engagement ring instead Honey?” Sarang says. Sohyun laughs letting go of Yoongi’s hand and goes to Sarang.
“I gotchu sis,” she says, making each other laugh.
~ Park Residence ~
“Where’s all his things?” You ask, looking around the living room. You got everything ready to take to Jungkook and Rina’s place and you had them all out on the couch but suddenly they went missing.
“In the car,” Jimin says, carrying Mingyu in his arms. “Are we ready to go?”
“I think so? Or should I pack more things?” You say, walking back to his nursery. Mingyu began to whine as he saw you walk away.
“No I think we’re good,” Jimin yells out, “let’s go while Gyu is in a good mood.” You walk back towards your two boys and nod, the stress was clear on your face.
“Hey,” Jimin says, getting you to look towards him.
“What?” You say, slightly out of breath from walking all around the house.
“Calm down,” he says with a light laugh. “We’ll be okay, if anything happens, everyone will be there to help us.”
You nod, “okay. It’s just, it’s the first time we’ll all be together again, and I don’t want to ruin anything if we have to leave early because Gyu is not used to being around so much people I--”
“Shh Shh,” Jimin says, putting a hand on your cheek. “We’ll be okay. If you worry now, we really won’t have any fun when we get there. Just relax.” Jimin leans in to place a kiss to your lips. “He’ll be a good boy, right?” He says, looking at Mingyu. Mingyu giggles, reaching his arms out to be carried by you.
“I’m taking that as a yes,” you say, placing a big kiss on his cheeks, making him giggle even more.
~ Jeon Residence ~
Ding dong!
“Mommy is that uncle Tae Tae yet?” Sian yells, running towards the door. He reaches up and opens the door by himself, a little gasp comes out of his mouth.
“Who is it Sian?” Jungkook asks, walking towards the door, his mouth full of food. He gasps when he sees who’s at the door.
“Tada!” Taehyung says, holding Mingyu in his arms.
“Oh my-- come here,” Jungkook says, reaching out to carry Mingyu.
“No,” Taehyung says walking past him. He makes his way to the living room and everyone that was there gasped or squealed when he walked in.
“Why do you have him?” Jin says, reaching out for Mingyu. Taehyung pushes his hands away.
“I parked my car and Jimin parked behind me--”
“Oh yeah, where are they?” Sohyun asks, looking towards the door.
“They’re bringing Mingyu’s stuff in, I think they brought a lot of things. They also brought some food and asked me if I can help so I took the best snack they had and brought it in,” He says, gesturing to Mingyu.
“We should go help,” Namjoon says, getting up from the couch.
“I’ll come with,” Hoseok says, following Namjoon.
“Let me hold--” Jungkook tried to say, standing next to Taehyung.
“No.” Taehyung says, walking away with Mingyu in his arms and sitting next to Sarang.
“Aww he’s so cute!” She says. Jungkook rolls his eyes and sits next to Rina, pouting like a baby. She laughs at him and pulls his head in to rest on her shoulder, patting his cheek.
-
“Okay, I know it’s already so obvious but--” Sarang says before Huimang walked into the living room, pulling on her shirt. “What is it baby?” She leans into her mom and whispers in her ear. “Okay, go get it from Daddy,” Sarang tells her. Huimang nods and runs off.
“What was that about?” Mae laughs.
“She wants to use her iPad so her and the girls can watch a movie.”
“Aw, I love how our girls are such besties, they’ll be just like us when they’re older,” Sohyun says, leaning into Byul on the couch.
“Hey, about that, when is it okay for me to call Moonji like… my daughter? I feel like it’s too soon? But she kind of calls me her mom already but I don’t know whether to refer to her as “mine” although she’s not really mine and--”
“Sweetie, you’ll just know. I know, I was in the same situation as you--” Sohyun starts.
“But, you two have different situations with the biological mom part,” Rina reminds her. “Hana’s mom left her in a different way that Moonji’s mom did. I say part of it’s knowing when, and the other part you’d have to wait until you know you’re in a serious serious relationship with Namjoon and also talk to him about it too.” Byul nods.
“You’re right, I’ll wait, and I’ll talk to him about it.” The girls nod at Byul’s response.
“What were you trying to tell us Sarang?” You ask, remembering what Sarang was saying before Huimang came in.
“Oh yeah! I totally forgot, thanks Yn,” Sarang says, putting her drink down on the coffee table. “As I was saying, I--”
“Mommy!” Sian yells, running to Rina.
“I am so sorry,” Rina says to Sarang. She laughs and gestures for her to go ahead.
“Daddy and Uncle Tae Tae are fighting,” Sian says before running off again.
“What?” Sarang says, watching Sian run past Jimin, who walks in holding Mingyu in his arms.
“Taehyung and Jungkook are fighting?” You say, taking Mingyu from Jimin as he passes him onto you.
“Arguing. Yoongi was carrying Mingyu and Taehyung wanted to hold him again but Jungkook was whining that he was holding him the whole time when we got here and Taehyung came back saying that he ruined the date he had with Mingyu by coming to the cafe.” Jimin explains, leaning over to kiss Mingyu on the top of the head before walking off to go back with the boys.
“Rina you really have to give him another one,” Mae jokes. Rina lets out a sarcastic laugh.
“I will if he gives me a ring first,” she says, looking down at her left hand.
“Speaking of rings,” Sarang says. She turns around looking if any other kid would come by to interrupt her.
“I think you’re good,” Sohyun laughs.
“Okay, so,” Sarang says, reaching down for her bag, taking out little pouches. “They’re not exactly rings but..” She passes them out to each of the girls, you getting your own. “Open them up!”
You all open it at the same time, Mingyu reaching out to put it in his mouth.
You all gasp at the same time.
“Sarang this is so cute!” Sohyun says, holding it close to her chest.
“Oh I love it!” Mae says.
“Oh-- Even me Sarang? We haven’t known each other for long, I don’t want to ruin--”
“Byul, you’re one of us now. I want you to be one of my bridesmaids! You have to be~” Sarang says.
“Where did you get this idea? This is so cute,” Rina says, looking over the necklace Sarang got them. It all had their names written on the backing card. Rina held hers which said “Rina, I can’t say I do, without you! Will you be my bridesmaid? -Sarang.”
“Pinterest, I spent all day looking for the perfect one,” Sarang says with a small laugh, then nervously asking, “... so is that a yes? From all of you?” The girls all nod and scream yes excitedly, making Sarang cry.
“Why are you crying!” Mae laughs, pulling her into a hug.
“I don’t know I’m just.. So happy I met all of you and.. Oh my gosh I can’t stop now,” she says, laughing as she wipes her eyes. Mingyu looks at her with a horrified expression before crying as well.
“Oh-- Gyu what’s wrong?” You say. He cries harder while looking at Sarang.
“I think he’s sad that you’re crying,” Rina laughs. You look at your son, then at Sarang and decide to pass him to her.
“Hi baby,” she says, holding Mingyu. “I’m not sad, they’re happy tears! See?” She smiles. “I’m happy!” Mingyu stops crying and smiles at her.
“See! Oh my gosh, he’s the cutest!” Rina says. Mingyu reaches out and squishes Sarang's nose, making her laugh.
“Babe--” Namjoon says, walking back into the living room. “Uhh.. what’s going on?” He asks. You all were currently standing around a red Sarang who had red eyes and wet tears on her cheeks. Also with Mingyu’s little fist around her nose.
“Sarang asked us to be her bridesmaids!” Byul says happily, running up to Namjoon, showing him the necklace she got.
“Aww that’s cute. Do you want me to put it on you?” He says. Byul nods, turning around and lifting her hair up and out of the way.
“Aw look at them, how cute,” Rina says. “Put it on for me Sohyun?”
“I can do it, I can be cute too,” Jungkook says, walking towards Rina.
“We didn’t get a groomsmen proposal from Hoseok,” Yoongi says, walking towards Sohyun.
“I checked pinterest, they didn’t have any good ones that you guys would like,” Hoseok says.
Jin walks over to Mae. “Let me put yours on for you.”
“I already have it on,” Mae says, showing him the necklace around her neck. Jin gives her a face.
“Well take it off so I can be cute and put it on you like what everyone else is doing,” he says, unclasping the necklace, making Mae roll her eyes.
“Jin hyung’s such a loser,” Jimin says jokingly, “want me to put yours on babe?” You look at Jimin and hand him the necklace.
“It kinda has some slobber because Gyu kept trying to put it in his mouth.”
“Oh, ew,” he says, leaving to get a wet wipe.
“Can I have Mingyu, noona? I have no girlfriend to put a necklace around,” Taehyung pouts, reaching over to pick up Mingyu.
“So what brings you boys back here? I thought you were playing at the dining table?” Rina asks.
“You know what happens during Uno,” Yoongi says, wrapping his arms around Sohyun.
“Plus, we got bored,” Jungkook pouts.
“Mommy,” Minseok says, walking into the living room, holding Haneul’s hand.
“Yes baby?” Mae says, leaning down to pick up Haneul when they walked towards her.
“We want to stay with you guys,” he says, climbing on the couch to sit on Jin’s lap.
“Okay, what about your sister and your cousins? Are they still watching the movie?”
“They’re coming,” Minseok says. And as if on cue, all the kids started coming out of Sian’s play room.
Moonji ran to Byul, Soojin ran to Uncle Taetae, Hana ran to Yoongi and Sohyun, Huimang ran to her parents, and Sian ran to his dad.
“Aigoo~ When did we have so many kids?” Taehyung says, pulling Soojin on his lap as he sits down on the floor.
“I don’t know, but I’m sure we’ll have a whole soccer team in the future, because I’m sure we want siblings for our kids and you're left to have your first one,” Hoseok says.
“Oh my gosh,” Jin says. “They’re going to out number us.”
-
“I can’t believe how good Gyu has been,” You say as you and Jimin both walked to the kitchen to get some drinks.
“I told you we’d be okay! We have all our friends to help us, what better people to help than those who have so much experience with kids right?”
“I know, I know, I just didn’t think Gyu would get so comfortable so fast, he loves them,” You say, looking over to see Yoongi behind a curtain while holding Gyu, playing peekaboo with Hoseok. You could hear his little laughter all the way from where you were standing.
“Well that’s good. Because he’s going to be seeing their faces all the time now.” Jimin says, leaning over to kiss your forehead. “I don’t think we should be stressing out much anymore. Let’s go have some fun with our friends.” You nod, walking off with Jimin back to the living room.
“Can I hold Mingyu next?” Jin says, looking over at the second and third oldest. “Haneul wants to play with him.” Haneul was sitting on Jin’s lap and he looks up at his dad and smiles when he heard his name. Jin smiles at him back, the one smile where he looks like a quokka.
“Do you want to go to Uncle Jinnie?” Yoongi says to Mingyu in his baby talking voice.
“Yes~” Jin says in a small voice as well.
“Here you go hyung,” Yoongi says, placing Mingyu on Jin’s other leg while Haneul sat on the other.
“Aigoo~ You’re a hyung now Haneul!” Jin says. Haneul looks up at Jin and laughs before looking back at Mingyu.
“What do you think he’s gonna do?” Rina says, everyone was staring intently at the two youngest.
“Give him a kiss Haneul!” Hana says. Moonji looks at her and then looks at the two before she made a kissing sound.
“Mwuah!”
Haneul first pointed at Mingyu’s nose, making him cross eyed. Which made Haneul laugh again.
“Give him a kiss,” Jin says, making a kissy face. Haneul looks at his dad and does the same thing, leaning over to kiss Mingyu on the nose.
“Mwuah!” He says, everyone said “Yay!” afterwards making Haneul laugh and clap.
“Good boy,” Jin says, kissing the top of his head. Namjoon leans over and caresses Mingyu’s head. He turns around and smiles as he sees Namjoon’s face. Namjoon couldn’t help but give him an open mouth smile back.
“Aigoo~ He looks so cute. Looks exactly like his dad,” He says, making you scoff.
“He looks like Jimin but of course got his cuteness from his mom,” he corrects.
“That’s better,” you say.
Moonji runs over to Mingyu and Haneul and he looks over her dad.
“Daddy I want a baby brother too,” she says, making Byul’s eyes widen.
“We’ll get you one next time, okay?” Namjoon responds, making Byul shake her head, before slowly blinking, head turning towards Namjoon.
“I already have a little brother,” Soojin whispers, making Mae laugh.
“Maybe I can write little brother on my wishlist next year,” Hana says, coloring her coloring book nonchalantly. “Daddy always gets me what I want on my list.” Jungkook burst out laughing.
“She’s not wrong.”
“I want one too daddy,” Sian says, running towards Jungkook, fluttering his eyes to appear cuter.
“Ask mommy, not me,” Jungkook points.
“Mommy?”
“Ask daddy to propose to me first,” Rina responds. Sian pouts, slumping his shoulders and walking back to his hyung.
“He didn’t even have to ask,” Taehyung laughs.
“Maybe mommy and daddy will get me one after the wedding?” Huimang asks all of a sudden.
“Oh- you want one too?” Hoseok asks, not expecting Huimang to want a younger sibling.
“Yeah, but a sister would be good too. But if not that’s okay, I have Moonji, Soojin, and Hana. They’re like my sisters,” she says, continuing to color with Hana.
“Wait that was so cute,” Taehyung says, jutting out his bottom lip.
“Me brother too,” Haneul says, pointing to Mingyu. Jin laughs at his son’s comment.
“Hahahahaa, Jimin take Gyu back,” he says with a blank face.
