This situation truly felt like the closest I've ever gotten to reenacting the L vs. Light from Death Note battle lmaoo I kept my cool and plausible deniability, but I was dying laughing internally.
(I think I've won the battle, btw. I'll have to wait and see. There's more to this war, though)
So, for background (and I've complained about this on this blog several times...sorry) my moron boss refuses to put price tags/signs on the products in the store, especially at the register. Considering I work in a retail store...this is obviously a problem. So I've made several attempts to get products priced, in varying degrees of extremity.
1. I made handmade signs/tags out of receipt paper/scratch paper and put them on the products around the register. (Candy, toys etc.) Braindead manager took them down.
2. All but 4 of the shopping carts at work are broken, but customers are stupid and still try to drag them halfway through the store and then abandon them or somehow blame me personally for them being broken. So I put signs on the broken ones and blocked them off. Dumbshit managers keep unblocking them and then customers try and fail to use them and abandon them throughout the store, rinse and repeat daily.
3. I then got the idea to go over my manager's head, but without having it fall back on me. Write to corporate. I originally started snatching receipts to leave negative reviews on the store survey, but that seemed to be a dead end, as the SM and DM are the ones who are supposed to read the surveys, but appear not to, as not a single thing was fixed in over 6 months of "customers" complaining weekly. (Usually at least 1 every 2-4 days)
4. I found a clearance price gun and tagged everything with it, even if it wasn't clearance. One way or another, it had a price on it, right? Of course the braindead moron took them off.
5. I then found actual price tags that were technically for different products, but had the same prices as our current candy, so I tagged the items with that. (For example, we'd have a tag for chocolate that we no longer carry that was $3.99 and we have some current chips on the shelf that are $3.99, so I'd just put the old tag for the current candy, since all customers need is the dollar amount and blacked out the old product description) These lasted longer than the previous attempts, but were ultimately taken down, but this is (hopefully) the turning point.
6. Just to really make sure something would change, a month or so after reusing old price tags, I (simultaneously, while also putting up old tags) made several fake emails posing as disgruntled customers and emailed corporate complaining about the lack of prices and the broken carts (among other things) at my specific location. (I did not name any specific employees or throw anyone under the bus. I just complained about the appearance of the store and any mention of employees was simply left at "the cashier" "the manager" etc. with no personally identifying info) I did this on the feedback section of the company website as well.
This all came to a head today when the braindead's mini-me (the ASM) pulled me aside before I clocked in today to basically call me out. She said that she knew that I was the one who put the handmade tags and also put "broken" signs on the broken carts and blocked them off. I, of course pretended not to know about it, because I'm not THAT stupid. But I'm not in trouble, because she has no real proof. (It was very much "I know that she knows and she knows that I know she knows lol) Anyway, she says (and we'll see about this) that new carts have been ordered and are on their way and also that she had to go around and undo all the tags (oh boohoo, she had to do her job, poor her) and will be putting real, correct tags on the products.
We'll see. In the meantime, "customers" are still going to leave bad reviews and contact corporate until changes are actually made for real. There are still other issues that need to be fixed, but are not as important as the lack of price tags and carts. (Such as the lack of price checkers, the shit radio music, the lack of employees, the dysfunctional inventory system, the bare shelves, the disorganized store, etc.)

JC and Saint don't do interviews. They don't do social media. They don't do late night show appearances even though Stephen Colbert has 30,824 tweets expressing how great it would be if JC and Saint were on his show. They don't do brand deals but they sometimes do favors which is why JC is a Prada muse and Miuccia Prada has praised Saint extensively for aiding in a capsule collection set to release next spring.  They don't do charts or awards or music streaming sites but everyone knows that the CJ ENM CEO has expressed to all the supposed companies JC and Saint call home ( of which there are numerous ) to see if JC or Saint—hopefully JC and Saint—will guest judge a Produce show. Everyone knows Spotify and Apple are in a one sided bidding war for exclusive rights to music that is deep underground, passed hand to hand as burnt cds, USB drives, old mp3s, 3DS’, walkmans, and ipod nanos. JC and Saint do not do strangers and they do not stay anywhere long enough to be more than hazy shapes in the camera. JC and Saint don’t even really do concerts or proper venues. And yet, they are everywhere. Here is it how it works:
in 2015, THIRDFOX was the most followed instagram account beating out athletes and singers and socialite nepo babies. The account wasn’t the typical one that tops the “Most Followed Instagrams” list that circulates every year. It was a fan account run by several individuals proudly boasting in their description: closest to JC and Saint—an inside joke between several hundred fans that everyone wants in on. A year later, THIRDFOX deactivated and moved the account to a website accessed only by a constantly changing password with occasional updates on an always moving twitter account.
Currently, I am in Nancy, a riverfront city in the northeastern French region of Grand Est. It is the third stop on JC and Saint’s world tour, Paperweight—the most talked about tour no one can get into because they don’t know how. It was promoted by word of mouth, posters plastered on the side of malls like Gandaria City in Jakarta, grafitti on the side of roads and crumbling buildings, and sticky notes stuck on the bottom of department store shopping bags. Tickets were only available at convention centers with tables set up in quiet corners for only a few hours or via the group chat THIRDFOX keeps a secret. The tickets are scraps of paper colored with markers and stamped with smiley faces.
The concert is housed in a secluded villa owned by a rich couple’s daughter that was readily and eagerly lent out when she knew who was asking for it.
“It's the only place I could find that was a little secluded. I live on campus so that was a no no.” The head of THIRDFOX’s French fanbase is giddy with excitement as she leads me inside the villa. It has been completely gutted. In its place, there are fairy lights strung up in the ceiling and a stage where the performance will be held. There are a few couches and a small bar that serves brightly colored drinks named Young Deer. Outside, there are tables to collect tickets and make last minute gifts. These little offerings are exchanged for small handmade bags from JC and Saint.
“The tour was planned out in the groupchat. We got to share what cities would work best, whose house would be a good fit, stuff like that.” She navigates the growing crowd with ease. Smiling faces greet her—greet me. The fans congregate in basements, houses, clearings in the woods, poolsides, and ,only once, a dorm room in Boston,—all to see JC and Saint. They are a myriad of browns and greens and yellow sunlight hues. They are made of bows and chiffon and lace. They smell like vanilla and nutmeg, brown sugar and warm butter.
I only get to come to this concert because a coworker of mine, a frequent visitor of the THIRDFOX site, got sick. With THIRDFOX’s permission, I get to attend the concert in his place. He plans to go to every single stop of the tour. This is 30 cities that I know of but he says there are always secret places they get to discover like points on a treasure map.
The French head of THIRDFOX is a bright eyed music major, attending a prestigious college in Paris. Her hair is bleached blonde with dark roots peeking through—a color she said was meant to match Saint’s before Saint went midnight black. A few of them have done this as well. They’ve adjusted their style to model those two brothers but they are always a little too late to ever be like them.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A FAN?
“We’ve known each other for years. Us. JC. Saint. I was 13 the first time I met JC. We’re the same age so he was 13 too. He wasn’t that famous at the time but he was famous enough that I knew who he was. JC asked if I’d follow him. Well, he didn’t say it like that but that was what he was saying and I—I dunno. I can’t explain it. At that moment, I just knew this was what my life was leading to: JC and ,of course, Saint. It’s silly. I know! I was just a kid. What do kids know ‘bout the point of life? But you gotta believe me. I knew it then just as much as I know it now.”
There are many just like her. They talk about JC like he is their younger brother or a son or a younger playmate in class. They talk like he is among them at all times, laughing and smiling.
But Saint’s the one I see first.
Saint’s the only one I keep seeing. Saint is carrying boxes in and out of the villa. When they aren’t, they are squeezing shoulders and holding hands and giving hugs and exchanging small packages for the gifts. Saint does not see me until they are rounding a corner that leads down a hallway. They know, instantly, I am new. They are as curious about me as I am them. I hold up my gift, my little offering, and they laugh and laugh and laugh. The bear is made of paper mache. It is a chocolate hue I made up on my own.
“Saint’s a little shy,” she says as Saint waves and walks off without retrieving the gift. “They don’t seem like it at first because Saint’s always talking with us but I think that’s why Saint’s always near us. They wanna break open their shell. They wanna be someone else that is a little less shy.”
WHY THIS WAY? WHY NOT PROMOTE REGULARLY?
“Because it’s fun this way,” She laughs. “I dunno who started it but we do everything. We want to! We sell tickets at kcon and animecon and comicon and whatever else con. We hand out CDS on campus and fashion shows when invited. We've put posters up in stores and go door to door to sell cookies with codes that lead to the website. Some people find them. Some people don’t. When my brother goes to the skate park, I make him wear a t-shirt with Saint’s face. JC’s his favorite though. We've put them on buses and taxes and trains. We've hosted radio shows and instagram lives and Youtube invited us to HQ to talk about a possible original show but we had to decline because of an earlier Netflix deal. There's a mystery fiction podcast we do too! Anything you can think of, we've done it or will do it. We get paid. I mean—we don’t do it to be paid but for some people this is basically a full time job. I make enough to not worry about loans and still have stuff leftover for whatever I like. Like just last week, a group of us met up in Singapore because the head there was getting married. I babysat all weekend for her.”
DO YOU GO EVERYWHERE WITH JC AND SAINT?
“Oh I wish! But they’d never want me to give up my life like that. I only really see JC and Saint when they’re in my town or I have time off from school to go to other concerts. Outside of that we text or facetime.”
HOW MANY OF YOU EVEN ARE THERE?
“We’re small but mighty but we're all spready out so sometimes it feels like there's more. Our chat connects all corners of the world. You already know I’m the head of the fanbase in France but every city has someone that organizes events. A sort of baby fox if you will. There’s a college kid I’m close with in Bankgkok, a CEO in Lagos, a schoolteacher in Seoul, a designer in New York. An astronaut that's filling holes on the moon. We alternate. We play each other. We help JC and Saint keep moving forward.”
WHAT’S THE DEAL WITH THE GIFTS?
“It’s one of those things we’ve always done. Gifts are different depending on who’s gifting them and if JC or Saint are receiving it. Saint likes cute things like this.” She shows me a candy heart full of gumdrop tears. “If it’s small enough Saint will wear it in their hair. JC’s a little harder to gift things. He’ll take anything—Saint will too—but JC will take things he doesn’t like. I think, though, we’ve gotten better at knowing what he does like.”
The villa is cozy. Homely. It doesn’t feel like a concert is about to start. It feels like I’m among friends, sharing a drink that fizzes and pops, that is sometimes sweet and sometimes sour. They brought bread and pizza and cakes and other things that local restaurants put together when they heard JC and Saint were in town. When other fans realize I am new, they crowd me and ask all sorts of questions. What’s your name? Where are you from? What’s your favorite song? Do you have Whatsapp? A Kakao? Instagram? I am given gifts too. Stickers are pressed to my cheek. Keychains clipped to my belt loop. Despite the language barrier that exists between some of them, they are still friendly and close.
I ask everyone who talks to me why? This is just another star that’ll plummet in x years time. JC and Saint’s promotional strategy is not profitable. It's not for the long term. JC and Saint will not last in this kind of industry. They are temporary like most things. So why waste your time here? Why bother? The answer is always the same:
“Cause they decided I was special and important enough to share this small corner of their world with.”
The Fox head says if JC and Saint are okay with it I can join the site. I can hang out in the groupchat. I just have to promise to keep what I see there a secret. I tell her I’m a journalist. I’ve never been good at secret keeping. I like the truth. I like getting to the source of it all and sharing what I find. She says whatever I find here I am not going to want to share with anyone else.
When the show starts, The Fox head proudly introduces the so called sons. The lights dim and the fairy lights seem more like fireflies dancing in night. A single bright light is coming from the stage. I can’t see the source but it illuminates JC’s face. He looks older than Saint. Unlike the rest of their fans, JC and Saint are dressed in grays and whites and blacks. She said Saint had a red jacket but it is nowhere to be seen.
I am close enough to the front of the stage to be seen clearly. When JC notices me, he is curious the way Saint was. He leans down and asks, “You new here?”
The music is growing in the background. Saint is adjusting their microphone. I nod and JC ruffles my hair like I am a small child or a longtime friend. “If the show sucks, promise you’ll tell us?” He is joking but I nod firmly anyways, suddenly filled with this strange desire to prove that I can keep this promise. That I can do something for JC too.
When the first verse starts, the crowd is already singing along. Around me, the fans became a single being that are here because JC and Saint asked them to. Because they are eager and giddy with a knowledge of the brothers no one else knows. Because they are special in a way the rest of the world can’t understand. That I can’t either.
JC and Saint play a total of ten songs, adding one more each time someone screams Encore! Encore! With every new song, I am learning about JC and Saint. Saint has a strong preference for rnb. JC likes hiphop. A couple of the songs are indie or pop. All of them are sad, but no one else around me thinks so.
Instead, fans are jumping around and screaming at the top of their lungs. They are shaking and dancing and twisting and turning. They are so happy to be here.  One of the songs—just one–is a rock anthem. Before the song starts, Saint admits, with a sheepish smile, “I left my bass back in Yorkshire with Maddy.”
“Oh, c’mon Saint!” Someone calls, teasing, and Saint grins, offering a little apology that is as sincere as can be.
“You’ll like this version,” they say. “I promise.” They hold out their pinky and the crowd does to. Saint looks at me, expectant, so I hold out my pinky as well. The next song starts.
I thought I’d never heard a single one of Saint and JC’s music. But when the songs started, it all came back to me. I’d heard them in the mall’s changing room, radio channels I play on long drives, my coworker’s speaker when we are pulling all nighters to reach a deadline.
My brother, before he died, used to keep a leather case of CDS friends have given him and songs he had made himself. Of all those CDs, there was one we listened to all the time. It was the only song he ever finished in the seventeen years he decided to give music a try. The seventeen years he was alive.
This final song is not the same song. But, it’s the only thing I can hear. I don't realize I'm crying until She says, "Well, what do you think?"
At the end of the show, JC and Saint mingle with the crowd. I’m surprised at the space they gave them. They don't reach out to touch or tug. They are respectful. JC and Saint blend with the others easily, seemingly different amongst regular people than when they were on the stage.
Fox France formally introduces me to the brothers even though JC already knows my name and Saint had seen me earlier.
“Did you like it?” JC asks.
I nod, unsure of how else to express what I’m feeling. I was wrong earlier. JC is baby faced. He is a little smaller standing next to Saint. He is someone's son and someone's little brother. He is extending his palm to me. I give him my gift and, in turn, receive a package.
“Thank you for coming,” Saint says. “We'd stay and talk but—”
“You have to keep going,” I finish. “There are other stops.”
“Next time, we can have a little chat.” Saint waves goodbye and JC hugs me. They disappear down that hallway, blurred and hazy in the dark. I think again about my dead brother. I am little less sad as I do.
I look at the package that is wrapped neatly in white. It is heavy in my hand.
I open it.

A LIST OF THINGS I CAN’T REMEMBER (2024) 6.5 x 6.4 in 23 page case bound book and handmade pastepaper. Papercut art and poetry
The “list” includes things of the mundane, humorous, and heavy. At its core, this book asks what exactly is worth trying to hold onto in your memory. Whether because of its trivial or traumatizing nature, is it ever better to forget?
---
not sure if this is called papercut art? I'd been referring to it as 'paper art' in my mind but googling that leads to a lot of like, folded/oragami stuff too
final project for my praxis class in 3rd year! Got a good reception towards it during crit which was lovely C:
god this project took fucking FOREVER, I'm glad I did it because it turned out almost exactly how I pictured it but my goodness gracious AUGH it was a lil rough. I'd be working on this thing literally ALL day from morning till Very Late into the night for SEVERAL days straight to meet deadline it was kinda crazy. My floor was covered in a fuck ton of pastepaper I'd made and my finger was getting callused from holding the x-acto knife so frequently orz 23 pages of papercut images AND papercut words?? whhooweee
Tumblr media
Watching a full playthrough of in stars in time is what kept me company during those long long days and nights haha, tis a very potent memory I have now (which now that the whole project-making ordeal is over is a p fun memory lol; isat is v v good)
some thoughts about this piece I jotted down in preparation for crit day:
A list of things I can’t remember my intention was to gather a list of mundane unimportant things as well as more like sad or poetically troubling things to disrupt it throughout. At the end it says “if I want to remember these things” because that is also something that I don’t remember, and it’s kind of the crux of the whole piece as this book at its core is about what kind of things are worth trying to hold into in your memory.
That last page had black text because it’s the hardest to remember or think about, and as such it’s meant to be hard to read/make out clearly.
The wavy black on the spine area is supposed to be like an encroaching darkness of forgetting lol
used pastepaper to make paper art trying to take advantage of the textures and colours I can make with pastepaper
+crit day installation! There were no white plinths left just this bright pink one?? But I was like. Actually that might fit the vibe lol and I think it did C: made the whole piece pop
Tumblr media
For the assignment requirements we had to choose something from one of the special collections we visited, and I chose Janet Kellett's beautiful Qualicum Blue. And was also sooo grateful that googling it brought me to a whole website of theirs that had info on its creation. It's what got me into the rabbit hole of pastepaper and hoo boy! making it was a wholleee process haha; here's the slides I made for when we had to present our material research:
I did a WHOLE bunch of experiments; I really wanted to know what I could and could not do with pastepaper and I'm glad I pushed the material so much in the amount of time we had to complete this part of the project. My prof was surprised at how many experiments I did haha
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
+fun fact: I asked my prof if they could recommend me a place to source black paper for my book, and they sent me to what looked like such a weird sketchy on the edge of town looking place lmao But it was all good they were like a mass producer of paper or smth and they had a lil storefront? in their warehouse selling what I assume were leftover batches in smaller quantities; that was p fun and! Now I know where I can find paper
Also I got some remarks that the papercut art reminded people of The Very Hungry Caterpillar C:

it's genuinely deplorable how many people use AI art and how many people SUPPORT and are willing to leave notes on posts that are AI art.
There shouldnt be a 10k note post that's just AI slop. Even for "comedic" purposes. It's not funny or cute. It would've been actually funny if you just instead photoshopped it very badly. But no you have to be lazy.
"All this complaining about it is just gonna make me use AI more." You're a pussy. It's that simple. You can't think for yourself and you have no talents or ambitions to speak of.
For the website that's supposed to be full of handmade art and artistic qualities far too many just throw it through the window for a few laughs. Grow a spine.

Hi! I love your fics so much, they're so cute! 🥹💕 If it's okay, could I request White Day with Kanata and Nayuta? Would love to see how they would prepare the event for the reader! Thank you! 🩵💜
hi, sil!! and thank you! i'm glad you enjoy them!! please enjoy!
Tumblr media
Kanata & Nayuta Yatonokami x gn!reader
✧white day!
✧fluff, mentioned lingerie in kanata's (HE DOESNT BUY IT.), also kanata's is way longer (276 - nayuta & 645 - kanata)
Tumblr media
Kanata was stumped. Sitting in the old apartment and wondering what he should get you for White Day. That was what he was supposed to do right? Since you had gifted him some handmade chocolates. Even though they weren't pretty they still tasted good.
He couldn't ask Nayuta either. He'd have no clue either. Was he supposed to get you some accessory? Well, he didn't have enough money for something that was worthy of being worn by you. He could steal some money- No... you wouldn't like it if he did that just to get you something.
A heavy sigh left him as he picked up his phone and looked up 'what to get your lover for white day'. Could you blame him though? He's never had anyone else he cherished other than Nayuta!
Most of the expensive options were.. definitely out of the question. Lingerie? Yeah.. no. Necklaces, bracelets, rings? Ehh.. that's even more expensive. A trip?? Even more out of the question.
But sweets? He.. he could do that. Hesitantly, he clicked on a small bakery's website that was just outside the slums.
" Hmmm? Whatcha doin', Kanata? " Seemingly out of nowhere, you appeared behind him. When the hell did you get there?! You had a curious look on your face as you tried to crane your neck to see what he had been intently looking at on his phone.
His face turned a shade of pink as he whipped his head around to look at you. " ...Nothing, " He quickly turned off his phone as you tried to take a peek at it again. " Why didn't you text me that you were coming over? I would have got something to eat if you did. " He got up from his spot on the floor where he had been hunched over his phone.
" Well- I thought I'd just surprise you, that's all! " You smiled, following him over to the door that you had just come in through. He rolled his eyes a little, masking the embarrassment of you catching him looking for a White Day gift for you. He bent down to slip on as shoes as you watched him hold his phone in one hand. Before you could ask him anything, he responded.
" C'mon. We're gonna go somewhere. " He had said this before almost immediately looking back down at his phone again. Kanata couldn't really decide what you'd like most out of all the sweets so might as well let you pick right? At least the bakery wasn't expensive like some...
" ...Kanata, why are you so focused on your phone? C'mon, look at the stray cats or at the sky! " You linked your arm around his, gesturing to the family of stray cats you both had walked past. " Or anything! Just put your phone down for a bit! " He turned off his phone and looked over at the kittens meowing for their mother before looking at you.
" I was looking at my phone for directions, dumbass. "
" Oh. " Your boyfriend always somehow managed to make you feel stupid without even trying. At least that answered one of your questions...
As you approached a brighter area, which you assumed wasn't a part of the slums, Kanata grabbed your hand and turned suddenly, leaving you to wonder just where he was taking you.
" Here. " He stopped in front of the bakery that resembled the one on the website he had been looking at. " You can pick whatever you want. For.. White Day? " It sounded more like a question as he hesitantly looked over at you, as if unsure if it really was White Day. Maybe even if this was what he was supposed to do. When your face lit up though, all those worries washed away as you dragged him into the bakery, excited words falling from your mouth as you pointed out all the sweets they had.
Tumblr media
" Hmmmm... " Nayuta's brow was furrowed as he stared at the home screen of his phone. You were leaning on his shoulder, now looking at his phone as well. He had been staring at it for nearly five minutes now...
" What're you thinking about, Nayuta? " You hummed, your hand wrapping around his arm as you hugged yourself closer to him while you laid against his shoulder.
" Just trying to think of something to get you for White Day. " He bluntly told you. He didn't need to hide it, right? Everyone knew about Valentines and you were his lover so.. you knew he was going to get you something for White Day! " So what do you want me to get you? "
You got up from resting your head on his shoulder and looked at him, confused. " You goof, you're supposed to pick something out yourself not ask me! " You laughed at his confused face. It was the first time he'd done something like this so you couldn't blame him.
" Oh.. hmmm... " Back to thinking he went. Was he supposed to get you chocolates as well? That was what you got him for Valentines Day but was that appropriate for White Day? Maybe he should get you a different sweet instead. " How about cookies? " He looked over at you as if making sure that's what you wanted.
You sighed and let out a quiet laugh. " How about we make some together for White Day? " He thought for a moment before nodding in agreement.
" But you're gonna keep all the cookies. Cause they're supposed to be your gifts. "
" Fine, fine.. I know you're gonna eat at least a few though! "

LEO LARSON
full name: leonard "leo" michael larson
pronouns & gender: he/him, cis man
birthday & birthplace: february 9, 1996 (29); ann arbor, mi
location: ocean crest apartments
time in aurora bay: since august 2019
sexuality: bisexual
occupation: art teacher at aurora bay high school
@aurorabayaesthetic
about.
leo is a midwestern boy through and through. he was born and raised in ann arbor, michigan (go blue!) and really prides himself on that. he'll go to bat for the midwest any day.
he's the oldest of three, with two younger sisters who he'd literally die for. his extended family on his mom's side is incredibly tight; his mom and all of her siblings actually bought up a lot of the houses in the same little cul-de-sac, so leo grew up seeing his cousins more like his siblings. lots of game day barbecues that spilled out into the street, riding bikes around town, driving around because there was nothing else to do, the whole suburban experience really
his parents split up when he was nine and he has little to no contact with his dad, who moved across the country after the divorce. he loves his mom but she went through a long period of dating bad guys that hasn't really ended, so he definitely has daddy issues
he's loved art for as long as he can remember, and he was always gifted with it. it started with chalk drawings in the driveway and went from there. he went to a progressive, hippy dippy high school in ann arbor that allowed him to specialize and get together a portfolio for college
leo is. not smart lmao. but he is talented, which is what got him into a joint brown university/rhode island school of design program. doing the whole ivy league thing was really not leo's jam. he felt like he was too far from his family and had a hard time fitting in to the kind of upper class vibe at an ivy, but he was able to find his niche and really focus on his work because of it.
after college, a fellowship brought him out to san francisco. he loved sf, but the kind of snobbery that really repulsed him in college just came out in full force when he was trying to break into the art world. the fellowship was supposed to last two years, but he gave it up after one and packed up his whole life to move south to aurora bay
he's been in town for four years now, and during that time he worked on teaching certifications, sort of because he didn't know exactly what else to do. all he wants to do all day is paint, but he developed such an imposter syndrome on top of a distaste for the established art world, so he figured that teaching art would allow him to do what he loves everyday while also giving him a lot of time to work on his own projects
he got a job at aurora bay high school and lives to project the kind of cool, gay, tattooed hippie teacher vibe that his teachers in high school had. he still does his own stuff and shows at local galleries/maintains a website where he sells pieces. he also does murals all over town, in storefronts, on the sides of businesses, for anyone who wants one at affordable prices. he sells handmade jewelry at local artisan markets. he just loves to make art!
leo is a very simple guy. the only things that really get through into his brain are pretty things. flowers, trinkets, etc. his apartment is immaculately designed, he's always looking out for a cute new piece for his mantel.
family.
mother: bridget larson
father: michael larson (estranged)
sisters: daisy larson, emmy larson
tidbits.
he has a dilute tortoiseshell cat named robert, after robert rauschenberg, who he mostly just calls bob
he actually speaks fluent irish but hardly ever has a chance to use it. his mom is a first generation american and her parents were basically irish nationalists who only came to the states because they were so poor in ireland. they were all about keeping the irish language alive, so his whole family spoke irish growing up
he's a bit of a slut! he is ACTIVE on grindr and tinder and all the things. if your character is too, they've probably hooked up
basically, he's just a sunshiny pretty boy

Something for Me!
Sharing a positive and fun project that I have going on at the moment!
Recently, I watched an uplifting short documentary on Netflix called "The Quilters," which chronicles a group of men incarcerated in a Level 5 penitentiary, who are participating in a nonprofit outreach program that distributes handmade quilts to children in the foster care system.
Tumblr media
I had many thoughts and feelings as I watched it - of course, there were the stories of their lives of crime and dark pasts, and then their arcs of punishment, redemption, self-forgiveness, and the call to help others. That alone was amazing. But you know what just bowled me over and stopped me in my tracks?! As a quilter myself - JESUS H. CHRIST. Dudes, the quilts these men are making. I could not HANDLE how technically challenging and precise their quilts were!!!! I am not sure this was the filmmaker's intention - but Good Lords Above, was I ever filled with every single emotion when I saw these quilts! Awe and disbelief at the patterns these guys were picking - they were SO complex and difficult!!! Amazement when they were able to execute said patterns. ALL THEIR CORNERS MATCHED. All their lines were straight! HOW?!!! I was ogling every single machine and piece of equipment they were using in their sewing workshop, and tickled (and a little disgusted) when I realized that their machines are just ordinary household sewing machines, of various ages/vintages. Nothing special! Just normal Singers, Brothers, Janomes.... nothing extraordinary. (you guys will recall what a sewing machine nerd I can be). Basically, this documentary simultaneously filled me with amazement and shame/self-loathing - -that I, A FREE WOMAN, living joyfully outside the bounds of a federal penitentiary out in the ordinary world, free to explore any resources and avenues to improve my sewing, free to make use of any and all tools, gadgets, doo-dads, technology, online tutorials, online shopping outlets, etc. to enhance my craft and skill set - comparatively suck at quilting next to these Level 5 convicts who only really came to the world of sewing while spending hard time behind bars.
Again. This is probably more about me and my own neuroses than it is about the intentions of the filmmakers. Anyway.
Well folks - I was INSPIRED, I tell you. Inspired by the documentary. Also, inspired by the current state of affairs in my craft closet, which (again with the shame) is BURSTING at the seams with my gigantic fabric stash that desperately needs some paring down.
So I decided to take on a new project with the mission of not buying ANYTHING NEW, and only using materials that I already have. The mission: I'd be making a throw quilt for MYSELF! Can you believe, I think in the last almost 20 years, I have made at least 17 quilts, but I've never made one for myself?! (by the way - I think I should make a QUILT RETROSPECTIVE post soon. Wouldn't that be fun?!). So yes. I'm making a nap blanket for myself!
Another fun fact about this project: I have been a rather skeptical and slow adopter of ChatGPT and other AI technologies. I suppose I haven't felt that I have any burning need for them, based on my day-to-day activities. But - when I sat down to plan this quilt, I did what I always do - - I took out a piece of paper, started drawing a simple diagram with blocks, borders, sashing, etc. and I had the calculator app open on my iPhone, trying to figure out how big my finished quilt blocks out to be, how much seam allowance to give when cutting fabric, etc. and I was bouncing between the calculator app and Safari web browser, looking up dimensions and suggestions on quilting websites... then I suddenly had this idea: why don't I just put some questions into ChatGPT, and see if it can figure it out?
So first, I downloaded the ChatGPT app - and then I wrote "I want to make a throw blanket with a border, sashing and cornerstornes. How much fabric do I need?
GUYS. GUYS. Look what it gave me:
Tumblr media
I'm not gonna lie. I just about fainted.
Just to show you what this process used to look like for me.... this was my "game plan" for a quilt I made a few years ago. I used the Procreate app on my iPad that time instead of paper/pencil, but same thing - it's just my scribbling, at the end of the day. LOOK at this.
Tumblr media
Sooo. Yeah. Obviously, the ChatGPT thing did in less than 2 seconds what used to take me hours or days. The robots are taking over. But at least as far as quilting is concerned.... maybe I'm ok with it?!!
Anyway. With the mathematics and geometry sorted out courtesy of ChatGPT, I found that I could have the creative freedom and energy to start figuring out the specific plan for my blocks - which is the fun part!!! I started sorting my fabrics, making my plan, and then did what I do best: created a giant mess on the dining room table, right in the middle of the house.
Tumblr media
And - about 2 weeks later, TADA!!! I have a finished quilt top!
Tumblr media
The best part of this quilt?! I have purchased NOTHING NEW for this thing. It's all scraps that I already had, even the sashing and cornerstone fabrics! Also another fun fact about this quilt: thus far, I have only used my serger to assemble it. I won't lie, it wasn't all smooth sailing - I had a little kerfuffle with my serger about halfway through with a whole bunch of frustrating snags and snarls, and I was about to tear my hair out. But then I discovered that just changing out the needles made things smooth sailing again. Doh, such an easy solution. I was able to finish things out pretty easily, and I got a really neat finish on the back side of the quilt top as a result, which will make assembling the final product pretty easy.
I am debating what to do for the borders and the quilt back. Perhaps this is overkill - but I'm debating doing a dual-sided quilt! Meaning, I'd come up with a whole new quilted design for the back, rather than just using solid fabric. Reason: I STILL have soooo much scrap in my closet, I literally think I have enough to create a whole other quilt top. But if I go solid back, I'd have to buy some new fabric.
Good news: for the batting (puffy stuff in the middle that makes the quilt soft/cuddly), I actually have a roll of queen-size batting that I never used and (gasp) that I damaged in the wash once. Since this is only a throw-sized quilt, I actually think I can salvage the batting and just piece it together from the damaged queen-size roll. Stay tuned to see if this works out.
The ONLY thing I might have to buy for this quilt is material for the borders, if I stay committed to making them.
Anyway. Lots of decisions to make with this, but I'm feeling excited about them!
I am going to take a little hiatus from working on the quilt for a week or so, because I have some other tasks that are more time-sensitive. Namely, I have LOTS of creative crafting and prep to do for our family's upcoming trip to.... Japan and South Korea!!!!

An original artwork from an artist creates soul where other decor might not.
A living room isn’t only for sitting; it’s where you make memories at home. Why stop at empty or uninteresting wall spaces? The perfect living room paintings can introduce life, color, and character into your home. Handmade works are the best way to fill your living room with real and unique character.
How Is Handmade Art Superior to Printed Paintings?
Every painting that is painted by hand is different from every other painting. The artist’s emotions, ideas, and effort are seen in every stroke of a brush. Whereas digital prints are mass-produced, handmade paintings for living room give your space a cozy atmosphere and make it special. Often, their textured surfaces, smooth transitions of color, and vibrant feeling can be felt in the room.
Tumblr media
Radha-Krishna paintings, abstracts, and landscapes done by hand have a charm that machines can’t match.
Top Picks for Artwork to Hang on Living Room Walls
What the room is supposed to look like and what you prefer to see determine the right art style. Several modern Indian homes suit these top picks:
Add some Spiritual Art to your home for a sense of tranquility, such as a faceless Krishna-Radha, Lord Ganesha, or a meditative Buddha.
Pichwai, Madhubani, and Phad styles of Indian Art use strong colors and repeat patterns to share stories.
Modern Abstracts look wonderful in minimalist and contemporary house schemes. Go for acrylic or oil-based paintings with lots of different textures.
Using themes related to nature, like birds, trees, rivers, or flowers, often looks great hanging on living room walls.
How to Choose a Wonderful Painting for Your Living Room
The following are a few things you can do to choose the right bicycle for you:
Before anything else, measure the area where you want to put your picture. Larger paintings or several related pieces are needed for big walls.
Choose paintings that match or go well with your existing furniture, window coverings, or cushions.
Choose one type of theme—abstract, spiritual, traditional, or modern—to give your home a polished and organised appearance.
For a living room, sets of 2 or 3 panel paintings above the sofas or TV can make an impressive focal point like a gallery.
Which Websites Sell Livable Art for the Living Room?
At Craftico Creations, there are many premium handmade paintings focusing on tradition and trend. If you prefer a traditional Indian setting or a high-end contemporary look, our living room wall painting can enhance your room and add style, comfort, and charm.
Final Thoughts
Getting the right painting for living room can easily shift the whole mood in your house. Instead of just using posters, select paintings created by hand, since these show off your personality, opinions, and memories.

Why Custom Product Photography Backdrops Are Key to Crafting a Professional and Impactful Online Brand
When running an online store, how your products are presented can significantly impact your success. Product images are the first interaction many customers will have with your brand, and how those products are photographed can determine whether a potential buyer becomes a loyal customer. Custom backdrops for products are one of the simplest yet most effective ways to enhance your product photography. These backdrops provide a professional, consistent look that strengthens your brand identity, boosts trust, and improves overall customer engagement.
Here is more detailed information about custom backdrop:

Achieving Brand Consistency Across All Product Images with Tailored Photography Backdrops
For any business, consistency in product presentation is crucial. Custom photography backdrops create a uniform look across your product images, helping to build a recognizable and cohesive brand identity. Whether you're selling clothing, accessories, or home décor, using the same backdrop style in every product photo ensures that your images feel like part of the same collection, establishing a professional, polished brand presence.
Customizing your backdrops allows you to easily integrate elements of your brand's color palette or style into each image. This helps reinforce your brand's identity and allows your customers to immediately recognize your products, whether browsing your website or scrolling through social media.
Keep the Focus on Your Product by Using Clean, Professional Custom Photography Backdrops
In e-commerce, the product is the hero and should be the image's focal point. A busy or distracting background can distract from your product, leaving customers confused or disinterested. Custom backdrops are an excellent solution to keep the focus where it belongs—on the product itself.
With the right custom backdrop, you can ensure your product is well-lit and framed without unnecessary distractions. Whether a simple white background for a clean and minimalistic look or a soft gradient to highlight product features, a custom backdrop ensures your product is presented in the best light, helping potential customers make quicker purchasing decisions.
Enhancing Customer Trust and Perceived Quality with High-Impact Custom Product Backdrops
Trust plays a significant role in online shopping. Customers who see high-quality product images tend to trust the business more and are more likely to purchase. A custom backdrop can immediately enhance the perceived professionalism of your online store, giving the impression that your brand cares about the details.
Products that are photographed against professional backdrops appear more polished and credible. When the image quality matches the quality of the product, customers feel more confident in their purchasing decisions. Whether offering high-end luxury items or affordable essentials, custom backdrops elevate your products, helping them look their best and signaling to customers that your store is reliable and trustworthy.
Creating a Memorable Shopping Experience with Thoughtfully Designed Custom Backdrops
In a world of countless online stores, offering a memorable shopping experience is essential. Custom product photography backdrops contribute to this by making your product images visually compelling and aligned with the overall feel of your brand. These backdrops can help set the mood for your products, providing context that helps customers connect with what they're purchasing. For example, suppose you sell handmade goods or vintage items.
In that case, a rustic or textured backdrop can convey the uniqueness and craftsmanship of your products. If you're selling apparel, a clean, minimalist backdrop can highlight the clothing itself, allowing customers to imagine wearing it. Thoughtful backdrops are part of the storytelling process that can engage customers, encouraging them to stay on your site longer and explore your offerings.
Elevating Marketing Campaigns and Social Media Presence with Professional Product Backdrops
Custom backdrops benefit your website and play a crucial role in your marketing efforts. High-quality, consistent product images can elevate your social media profiles, email campaigns, and paid advertising. Using the same custom backdrop for all your visuals creates a cohesive look that makes your brand instantly recognizable.
In the highly visual world of social media, eye-catching images stand out. Custom backdrops help ensure your product images remain visually appealing across different platforms, making your brand look more professional and consistent. This can increase engagement and create a loyal following, ultimately driving more sales.

Final Remarks
Custom product photography backdrops are powerful for creating a strong, professional, and impactful online presence. They help build consistency, make your products the focus, enhance your brand's credibility, and improve the overall customer experience. Using high-quality backdrops will present your products in the best possible light, encouraging trust, boosting sales, and building a recognizable brand identity.
Footnote
Enhance the visual appeal of your online store with custom backdrops that reflect your brand's personality. Start investing in high-quality product images today to improve customer trust and drive more sales.

In this one, I don't remember what happened before, but I ended up on a bus and it was taking ages to take me home. I remember being exhausted. I was back at the university. (I guess I don't always talk about it but I went to a university to get a bachelor degree and it was 4 and a half years of hell. I was severely depressed and anxious to the point of suicidality.)
Anyway I finally made it home, as in my childhood home, where I was still living with my parents.
I fell asleep in the dream and woke up super groggy. I went downstairs and my dad informed me I had slept all week... during finals week. I fell asleep in Monday and woke up Thursday. I got so frustrated at him and asked why he didn't wake me up. He said something about it not being his responsibility but he offered to drive me to the university.
I thought maybe I could get away with asking my professor if I could do my final over Zoom, but I couldn't get a hold of her. I tried looking up on the university website what her phone number was, but the website was buggy and broken. It was showing a portrait of a woman with my professor's name but she was too White. I remembered my professor was Latina.
Desperate, I called anyway but I got her voicemail. It was too late for me to wait any longer so Dad drove me.
I wanted to use the week to work on my final. I was taking some kind of acting class and the final was to put on a one-person performance. This has actually been a reoccurring thing for me lately: Having to go back to school to take a final for a subject I know nothing about. Anyway, all the other students were prepared, they even drew up small "advertisements" for their performance for extra credit. I scrambled to get something done, but soon it was my turn.
I picked up my handmade notebook that was supposed to be my script, but because I had no time to work on it throughout the week, the notes I wrote on it were utter gibberish.
Tears in my eyes, I told the professor I didn't want to go.
The class slowly devolved into chaos after that. One girl got sick and had to run to the nurse. I lied down on the floor and I guess I must have died because the next class came in and I started floating around like a ghost, begging for someone to notice me, but it was as if no one could see me. Then I woke up.
These are the kinds of stress dreams I've been having lately. :/
