Recipe #5 – "Warrior Soul Soup" or "War Broth"
The story goes that the mythical Hercules, King Arthur, and the great Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, King of the Vikings, had something in common.
They all took an inexplicable super dose of steroids.
More muscle for that great brain.
But something about the recipe’s title just didn’t add up—it was written in rough, illegible runes, not very different from the others, yet the translation was contradictory.
Warrior Broth, or was it... War Soup?
Billy: There’s only one way to find out!
Cook it!
At best, I could give some of this soup to Flash, who’d been complaining about his inability to gain muscle mass… or create a new Genghis Khan.
He hesitated for a moment.
Billy thought about the pros and cons...
The ingredients didn’t contain any liquid malice or souls in discord.
I had a couple of recipes that did require those, but it wasn’t the right time... and back to the matter at hand...
Billy: Remember, if you’re feeling evil or have the urge to conquer the world, you must eat this nut.
Flash: But it’ll only be for seven days, right?
Billy: Last time, you were out of commission for just five weeks; everything will be fine.
Flash: Cap, do you have your approval?
Marvel: Of course. After all, we’re the same person!
Flash: Oh, rigth! Son of the magical Easter Bunny's egg and all that stuff...
With a pat on the back from Captain Marvel, Flash drank from the thermal flask they’d brought for the occasion.
Billy: But just to be sure… If he tries to escape, catch him!
Marvel: Of course, father!
Flash: Hold on a minute... what did you just say?
Flash only gained three kilos. But that was more than he managed to gain in six years as Flash!
Ah! And now, he’s heading the parents' association for Wally’s class.
Win-win, huh?

Warnings: non/dubcon, pregnancy, pegging, Lloyd being the worst, post partum, csection, suicidial ideation, and other dark elements. My username actually says you never asked for any of this.
My warnings are not exhaustive but be aware this is a dark fic and may include potentially triggering topics. Please use your common sense when consuming content. I am not responsible for your decisions.
As usual, I would appreciate any and all feedback. I’m happy to once more go on this adventure with all of you! Thank you in advance for your comments and for reblogging.
Tumblr media
Your promise to Lloyd is empty. You have no great urge to see Andy again. You’re embarrassed at the thought. Even a bit guilty as you accept that any sliver of excitement he brought to you has flown away. The return of your husband drags you back down to earth in the most desolating way.
You swipe away another notification. You don’t know how to reply to Andy. It doesn’t seem right to tell him over a text. Still, you can’t bring yourself to face him. Your last two conversations haven’t been exactly productive. How many times can you tell him this was never meant to be anything more than sex?
That’s when you feel rotten. You used him the same way you’ve been used. Just a release, a thing to make you feel better about yourself. Worse, he’s a widower. He’s lost so much already and now you’re toying with him. That’s hardly fair.
You sit with Luna on the floor. Getting down there was hard enough and you don’t want to ponder how you’ll get back up. She lays on her mat, raising her head to look around. She’s still needy but you see her changing. Maybe she sees the same in you with how she stares at you.
There’s a knock at the door. You brace yourself. You already know it isn’t Lloyd, he would just barge in. You know he hasn’t changed at all. Luna’s head bobbles as she tries to look around and you call for whoever it is to enter.
“Hey, we goin’ on that walk?” Harlen asks as he enters, already half-dressed for the dipping temperature. You notice the metallic red thermos in his hand, “I was hopin’ to get out.” He present the capped container, “got us some hot chocolate even.”
“Oh, that’s so sweet,” you make yourself smile, “yeah, that might be a good idea.”
“Here, let me help,” he sets the thermos down and crosses the room, offering his hand to haul you up.
“Go on, get ready,” he bids as he grunts, bending to pick up Luna from the floor, “oh, she gettin’ heavy.” He stands straight, “I need the workout anyhow.”
“I have a suit for her. Thermal,” you explain as you search the dresser against the nursery wall. The last few nights you’ve spent sleeping in the glider chair, your own fortress in a castle not your own.
“You let me worry about that,” he nears, rocking Luna in one arm as he takes the insulated outfit from you, “go get something warm on. You gotta take care of you too.”
You look at him. You nod. He’s the only man you can’t bring yourself to argue with, maybe because he’s the only one who’s ever really cared. You love that about him but it makes you think of your own dad and how he would rather his flask than to spend a single birthday with you.
“Right,” you surrender, “I won’t be long.”
You leave the nursery and head down to the guest room. The door is already unclasped but you don’t think much of it until you enter. You find Lloyd sat on the foot of the bed with the little crescent moon toy Luna likes so much. His eyes flick up as you sigh.
You ignore him and go to the closet. You take out an old sweatshirt and dig out some jeans from a drawer. You feel him watching you. You hear him get up and come closer as you take out a pair of wool socks.
“Gonna be Christmas soon enough…” he says.
“Oh shut up,” you snarl.
It’s his turn to sigh. He angles around to stand beside you, facing you, and puts the toy on the dresser. You walk away from him and he follows you towards the bathroom door. The very idea of him seeing how he ravaged your body, the stretchmarks and the loose skin, repulses you. You won’t give him that victory.
As you try to close the door in his face, he forces his foot between it and the frame, “you have to talk to me eventually. She’s my daughter. I have a legal right–”
“Why did you come back? I know it’s not because of her,” you lean on the door. He’s just as strong as ever. If he really wanted to, he could overpower you.
“You,” he says. “I was always going to come back–”
“No, no, no. Lloyd, enough lies. It’s over. You know that. Whatever made you want me, I’m not it anymore. So whoever you were out fucking, go back to them. You won’t get anything from me.”
“I didn’t–”
“Fuck. Off.”
You stomp his toe and he recoils. You take the opportunity to slam the door and flip the lock into place. You keep your hand on the door and catch your breath. You hear him on the other side, lingering, the friction of his touch dragging down the other side.
“Peaches…” he says.
You scoff and push away. You go to the counter and put down the armful of clothes. You look at yourself in the mirror. You don’t even feel bad for yourself, you feel worse that Luna has to call someone like him a father.
🍑
You meet Harlan downstairs. He has Luna bundled up and helps you get her strapped into the baby carrier that hooks over your shoulders. It’s much easier than the stroller, if not a bit of a strain on your back.
He tucks the thermos into the large pocket of his coat and opens the door for you. He trails you outside into the brisk air of late autumn. The chill nips at your cheeks and nose as you adjust Luna’s hood to make sure she’s cozy.
“Thanksgiving soon. Dot was talkin’ bout it,” he says as you walk down the long driveway, “she talkin’ a lot lately. Driving me a bit crazy.”
“Oh,” you raise your brows dully. You haven’t said much to her. You resent her for all those weeks of sticking up for her son and her tune hasn’t changed, “yeah, maybe… get a turkey.”
“Ha, come on, what are we gon’ do? Sit down for a family dinner? She just wants peace but she won’t acknowledge the battle,” he puffs as he takes out the thermos and untwists the cap. “Here?”
He offers you a drink first. You stop awkwardly to sip from the brim and thank him. He takes a gulp of his own and hums.
“Not too bad,” he comments, “was of a mind to add some whiskey but we’ll save that for later.”
You chuckle and shake your head. You set off down the sidewalk, keeping a hand on the bottom of the carrier as you make slow progress. It’s the sort of cold that wakes you up. It reminds you of the day you met Lloyd and you scowl. A year. More than.
As you come to the end of the street, someone turns the corner. You don’t pretend to be surprised as Andy approaches. He wears a navy cap, his hair poking out from the hem, and his cheeks are rosy above his thick beard. He smiles as he nears, even as his eye twitches.
“Morning,” he greets brightly, “how’s little Luna?”
You slow as he glances at the baby in her harness. You sway with her as she babbles.
“She’s good,” you answer as Harlan clears his throat. You sniff as you try to roll the tension out of your shoulders, “oh, Andy, this is my… dad, Harlan. Harlan, Andy. The neighbour.”
“Sir,” Andy smiles and offers his hand, “nice to meet you. You must be so proud of your daughter. And granddaughter. A beautiful pair, huh?”
“Beaming,” Harlan shakes his hand gruffly, “couldn’t ask for anything better.”
“Well, uh, I was actually gonna pop in. I found some more baby stuff and thought maybe you could use it,” Andy rescinds his hand, tucking it in his jacket pocket. “I could watch Luna if you want. Give you some time off.”
“Oh, Andy, that’s sweet but… I got all the help I need,” you peek over at Harlan. “I appreciate everything but I hate to take advantage of your kindness.”
“It’s no problem. Really. I don’t mind,” Andy insists, only girding himself as his eyes flit to Harlan and he squares his shoulder, “just putting it out there.”
“I’ll… I’ll keep you in mind,” you utter awkwardly.
Harlan’s silent. You don’t have the courage to look at him. You can feel the tension radiating off of him. He’s shielded in that cool stoicism that once made you feel so small.
“Well, you know my number,” Andy shrugs, “I’m sure you can figure out how to reply to my texts,” he steps forward, gazing at Luna as he coos, surprising you as he bends to kiss the top of her head, “buh bye, Luna.” He grins, his eyes meeting yours as he stands at his full height, “pretty, just like mommy.” He nods and looks past you to Harlan, “try to stay warm out here.”
Andy struts past as you step aside. You hesitate before you continue on, quiet as Harlan lets a hum roll up his throat. He clucks and cranes to peer over his shoulder.
“That’s him?” He asks. You can only nod, staring down in shame. “Ah, well… you keep space from him… for yourself. Man’s got something ‘bout him…. Something off.”
“I… I’ve been ignoring him so…”
“No, no,” Harlan intones, “no, ain’t nothing ‘bout you.”
You stroll on, the uneasiness in his timbre crawling over you in goosebumps. You look down at Luna and run your hand up the back of the carrier, embracing her a little closer. Andy could be a little overbearing but he’s harmless, right?

Christmas with the Class (2024)
The halls of U.A. were buzzing with an energy you hadn't seen in weeks. It wasn't the usual hustle of hero training or exams. Today, there was a warmth in the air. Christmas Day had arrived, and as much as Bakugou would've preferred to be anywhere else, your class had a mandatory Christmas party. He was required to go.
You were walking towards the common room with a bag full of carefully wrapped gifts, each one meant for someone special. It was the first time you'd taken the time to pick out something for everyone, even Aizawa and All Might. You couldn't help but smile at the thought of the reactions they'd have.
Bakugou, however, had a different attitude. You'd barely seen him this morning. He had, after all, assumed he wouldn't need to go to the party, let alone participate in the gift exchange. You could tell by the look in his eyes that the concept of buying presents for the class had completely slipped his mind. His arms were folded as he leaned against the wall, a scowl on his face.
"Oi, what's with the bags?" Bakugou grumbled, glancing at the gift bag you were holding.
"Got something for everyone," you said, not looking at him. "Including you."
Bakugou's lips twitched in a scowl, but he didn't respond as you entered the party room. The rest of the class was already there, sitting around the large table. It wasn't a huge party, but everyone was excited. Christmas music played in the background, and lights twinkled around the room, adding to the cheerful atmosphere.
You noticed that, unlike the others, Bakugou had nothing in his hands. He shot you a pointed look when he noticed you had a bag full of presents. You could feel his unease, but you didn't call him out on it. It was kind of cute, in a way.
Ashido was the first to spot you. "Hey, (Y/n)! Come on, let's get this started!"
Everyone gathered around the table, and Aizawa, who had reluctantly agreed to join, stood near the door, looking entirely unimpressed by the idea of a Christmas party. The room fell into a happy kind of chaos as everyone exchanged pleasantries and small talk, each of you eagerly anticipating the gift exchange.
"Alright," All Might boomed, his usual energy somehow even more infectious today, "Let's start the gift exchange! Everyone ready?"
The moment was exciting, but you were already focusing on the little moments that made it all the more special. You had put a lot of thought into your gifts, and as you handed them out, you noticed how each one seemed to fit each person perfectly.
You handed Ashido a beautifully crafted notebook with a matching pen. Her eyes lit up. "Oh my god, I've wanted one like this for ages! Thank you!"
Kaminari, who had been itching to see his gift, received a box of his favorite limited-edition snacks. His usual playful grin softened. "This is the best. You actually listened to me."
For Kirishima, you had bought a set of weights that he could use in training. "(Y/n)," he said, looking genuinely moved, "This is perfect! I've been wanting to improve my strength. This is gonna come in handy. Thanks so much."
You handed Sero a set of cool stickers for his skateboards. He grinned wide, showing off his trademark mischievousness. "You seriously know the way to a guy's heart, (Y/n). Thanks!"
Todoroki received a high-end thermal flask with a sleek, minimalist design. His eyes softened as he held it. "I've been needing one of these. Thanks. It's perfect."
When you handed a carefully wrapped book to Iida, his eyes widened, clearly impressed. "I... I didn't even know they made a special edition of this! (Y/n), you've outdone yourself. This means a lot."
As you moved to Bakugou, you noticed that he hadn't said much throughout the gift exchange, his usual scowl softening only slightly when he saw you approach him. You handed him a small, simple box. He stared at it for a moment, his expression unreadable.
"You didn't have to," he muttered, though you could see the small glint of uncertainty in his eyes.
"Yeah, well," you said softly, "I wanted to."
He tore open the box to reveal a set of custom-made gloves, designed to help with his quirk. You'd noticed he was always complaining about the strain on his hands during training, so you thought it would be a perfect, practical gift. Bakugou was quiet as he stared at the gloves, his hands almost trembling slightly.
"...Thanks," he finally muttered, his voice thick with something you couldn't place.
You smiled at him, relieved by his acceptance. "You're welcome."
The gift exchange continued, and as you handed out the last of the presents, you turned your attention to your 2nd to final gift—the one for Aizawa. You walked over to him and handed him a small, unassuming box. He raised an eyebrow, clearly not expecting anything from you.
He opened it to reveal a set of high-quality, insulated coffee mugs, with a note on the side of the wrapping: "For when you need a break, sensei."
Aizawa's expression softened, just for a moment, before he gave you a quick nod. "Thanks. I'll put these to good use."
Finally, you turned to All Might, the last gift in hand. You'd gotten him a rare collector's edition of a manga series he loved back in the day. He talked about it to Midoriya once and you couldn't help but overhear. As he opened the gift, his eyes widened in surprise.
"This is incredible!" All Might laughed, clearly touched. "You're too kind, (Y/n). Thank you!"
The room was filled with smiles, laughter, and the soft hum of festive cheer. Even Aizawa's scowl softened a little. Everyone had gotten something meaningful, something that showed how well you knew them. It wasn't about the extravagance of the gift—it was the thought behind it.
But Bakugou... well, Bakugou was still standing there, clutching the gloves you'd given him, looking uncharacteristically thoughtful. And even if he didn't say it outright, the way he looked at you now told you everything you needed to know.
In his own way, he was starting to understand the joy of Christmas—of sharing little moments, of thoughtful gestures, and of knowing that someone cared enough to really pay attention.
The room filled with chatter as everyone exchanged thanks, and for the first time that night, Bakugou's usual gruffness softened just a little.
"Next year," he muttered, voice quieter than usual. "I'll do better, but only for you."
You smiled softly.

Reset ≠ Astronauts - Chapter 3
Tumblr media
Characters — ✈︎ Muneuji, Ushio
Tumblr media
Location: The Kaguya Family’s Archery Dojo
Muneuji: That is slightly flat. Due to the way you are placing tension on your elbow, the back of you placement hand is facing upwardsーー
Ushio: Mm……
Muneuji: (Just as I would expect from Uu-chan. I’m sure that it’ll come back to him soon.)
There are no issues with your shooting form. Simply clear your mind, and shoot when you feel the time is right.
Ushio: ……
Phew…!
Tumblr media
Ushio: Yes…!
Muneuji: Remain the same as you started. Don’t allow yourself to waver until the very end.
Ushio: Jeez. It’s been a while since I’ve done this, so at least let me have this tiny win.
Muneuji: When Chief came over to try it out, if I recall correctly, wasn’t it Uu-chan who told him that Kyuudou is a martial art that has etiquette?
…Also, I was delighted to see that Uu-chan’s hands remember how to draw a bow properly. I just needed to say that.
It has been quite a while since you’ve practiced. I brought some tea in a thermal flask, so would you join me whilst I take a short break?
Tumblr media
Muneuji: …This is for you, Uu-chan. It’s still hot, so be careful.
Ushio: Thanks.
Tumblr media
Ushio: …Hey, Muu-chan. Do I also have talent?
Muneuji: (…“Do I ‘also’ ”huh. The person of comparison he’s talking about must be Uu-chan’s mother.)
(It’s become difficult for him to say the word “mom”. The way he asked that was very much like Uu-chan.)
Ushio: What do you think?
Muneuji: Indeed, I think so.
(Auntie was one of my mother’s students. From what I’ve heard, she was only one step away from being able to compete in a tournament.)
Uu-chan has talent as well. If you were to hone in on this talent, it would surely blossom.
Ushio: Hmmm, I see.
Muneuji: ……
…Uu-chan, do…
Do you… remember her voice?
Ushio: Eh?
Muneuji: ……Nevermind.
I apologize, that was an awful thing for me to ask. Please forget about that question.
Ushio: ……
Muneuji: (It’s said that the first memory you lose of a person who is no longer here is their “voice”.)
(In truth, I……ーー)
Ushio: I get it.
So yesterday, that communication device that Princess was holding, the data that was lost was Uncle’s voice, wasn’t it?
Muneuji: ……
Ushio: I see…
Muneuji: ーーFor as long as I can remember, I was given heaps of communication equipment that I had no idea how to use.
I was still young, and the only thing that my small body could use was that communication device that my father had made.
Ushio: …So it was handmade.
Muneuji: I was around 4 years old at the time. I don’t remember what season it was. However, I could remember the soft sunlight that was illuminating the living room…It was a peaceful afternoon.
That was the first time I, using that communication device, was able to successfully contact my father.
My father is a man who doesn’t show much emotion, yet that day, his voice exuded a bit of youth then…
…I… think.
Ushio: Right.
Muneuji: (It’s no longer possible to verify if that is the truth. That communication device that preserved my father’s voice, no longer…)
Ushio: There could be a way to restore it. People like Oguro-san are good at that kinda thing.
Muneuji: ………
ーーNo, I think I will end my break here. If you wish, you can rest here for as long as you like.
Ushio: …I can keep going.
Muneuji: For the 100 shooting contest.
Ushio: Eh, you were serious about that…?
Muneuji: This is my 97th arrow.
Phew…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ushio: (Up until the 100th arrow, he shot every single target. Even though he missed about 80% of his shots before…)
Muneuji: Phew…
(The bow always shows the current state of your mind.)
(After talking with Uu-chan, I was able to sort my thoughts.)
Uu-chan, do you know what this is?
Tumblr media
Ushio: Of course I know. This is the diary that Muu-chan writes in every night before you sleep.
Muneuji: I started writing in it when I was 5 years old. I’ve reached around the halfway point now.
Tumblr media
Muneuji: However, I’m planning to stop writing in it nowーー
I was thinking of buying a new diary.
Ushio: Eh…?
Muneuji: When I was a child, one night, my father was abducted right before my eyes. Ever since that day… It felt like I was forced into a completely different world.
In order to get back on the right track, as well as to clear the misunderstanding on my father’s name, I trained hard to become an astronaut.
Tumblr media
Muneuji: …It’s been 10 years, Uu-chan.
It’s been over 10 years since that day.
Ushio: ……
Muneuji: (My mother who once cried every day has now since recovered and married a nice man. And thus, my precious little sister was born.)
(This “gap” is irreversible at this point. And it will only grow bigger.)
(I built my entire life along things that I treasure, all on the pile of thoughts surrounding that feeling of “If only that day never happened”…)
(And I myself have begun to see the concept of “moderation” that I used to detest seeing in adults… Not only can I recognize it, but I’m beginning to understand it fully.)
ーーI’m, without a doubt, becoming an adult.
Ushio: …… That’s……
Tumblr media
Ushio: ………
Muneuji: ………
(Uu-chan’s cowlick. It’s still the same, even after all this time.)
(We were both still so young and small. Back then, we were overwhelmed by life changing events that we couldn’t move on from. The only time we could lower our heads like this was in front of each other.)
(…When I discovered that Princess was in my mother’s womb, my child self couldn’t accept that reality.)
(It’s a dirty secret that I could never tell my mother about. The darkness that I could never scrub clean.)
Tumblr media
Ushio: “I really hate adults. No matter what happens, I’ll be on Muu-chan’s side.”[1]
Muneuji: (Uu-chan was the only one.)
(Uu-chan was the only one who understood me. He spoke the words that rejected the reality which was difficult for me to accept.)
(I wonder how many times those words he spoke that day embraced the young me, who had no choice but to swallow those discrepancies around me…)
………
Ushio: Muu-chan?
Muneuji: Uu-chan, this diary… Would you hold onto what remains of my former self?
Ushio: ……Huh?
Muneuji: Aswell, when the day comes that I leave this world… Would you bury it alongside me in my coffin?
Ushio: HUH!?
T-That’s bad luck! And isn’t that request too heavy!? Are you trying to put a curse on me!?
Muneuji: Don’t get so worked up. Of course, the day that I leave this world is still far ahead.
In fact, that day is probably 100 years into the future.
Ushio: Now it’s too long! I’d obviously die before then!
Muneuji: Hmm… You have a point there. Your lifespan may be affected by Uu-chan’s otaku activities.
Ushio: That was unnecessary!
Muneuji: However, I don’t want you to leave me nor my diary behind. How about we change our lifestyles and turn 100 years old together?
Ushio: Give me a break… Muu-chan, it’s hard to tell whether your jokes are jokes or not.
Muneuji: It was not a joke, I’m serious. I wish for Uu-chan to keep my diary with him.
Ushio: Seriously? …That’s even more bothersome. Once Muu-chan decides on something, you stop listening to anything I say.
Muneuji: If you were to beat me in a sumo match, I would.
…If you’re serious about it, shall we have a match? I would be able to grab some things for paper sumo.
Ushio: Uggghhhhhhh fine. I get it, I get it.
Muneuji: Get… what?
Ushio: You’re getting a new diary, right? On our way back from school tomorrow, let’s go buy it together.
Muneuji: Then, the old diary…
Ushio: It’s fine I’ll take it, I’ll take it! Just telling you now, I’m not making any promises about the day you leave this world or whatever!
Muneuji: Haha… Understood.
…Thank you, Uu-chan.
Tumblr media
Ushio: By the way, it’s crazy how you can just give someone something like a diary. Isn’t that the most private thing you can give away?
Muneuji: If it’s Uu-chan, I wouldn’t mind if you read it. It’s practically all the same things I would reveal to you normally anyways.
Ushio: …Is that sooo.

Sip in Style with Stainless Steel Drinkware at Split Flask!!!
In today's fast-paced world, where time is of the essence, having a reliable companion to keep your beverages at the perfect temperature is a necessity. Split Flask, a haven for beverage enthusiasts, offers a range of exquisite thermal flasks, tumbler cups, and stainless steel drinkware that not only serves a practical purpose but also exudes elegance and sophistication.
One of the standout products is the thermal flask. Crafted with precision and designed for optimum functionality, these flasks are a testament to modern engineering. One Piece Rare Pair Week 2025 - Pride Edition - Part 1 of 7
Someone said it was Rare Pair Week so you know that I, a mod in a Discord server dedicated to exactly that, was on it.
832 words; I love Yamato bc he is such a himbo it’s delightful; this is one of the cutest and fluffiest pieces I’ve done in a bit; if anyone is here to argue about Yamabro’s pronouns they will get jettisoned into space okay thanks
[FFN]/[AO3]
Day One: Stargazing | Rain - YamatoHiyori [832 words; G]
It was after twilight as Yamato found himself spreading a blanket out on the grass, Hiyori holding a picnic basket and lantern next to him. He wondered why they were there as they slipped out of their geta and sat down.
“Isn’t it a bit late for a picnic?” he asked. Hiyori put the lantern down on the blanket and gave him a soft smile.
“Not entirely,” she replied, a light chuckle on her lips that put him at-ease. “There are wonders to be had at night as well as the daytime.”
“People from the Flower Capitol sure like to do things different,” he shrugged. Yamato leaned back, looking up at the stars. “I don’t think I’ve had a picnic this late before.”
“Not even to see fireworks?”
“Ha—you know who my dad is—fireworks weren’t exactly when I was having fun.”
“I see.” Hiyori began to occupy herself with the contents of the basket, pulling out a pair of cups and the thermal flask gifted by one of their foreign allies before their departure. Once the tea was poured, she laid out the bentos before taking one for herself and beginning to eat it. “Well, then let me warn you: while you are Wano’s guardian deity, my brother and I shall expect you conduct yourself accordingly. You are truly of Wano now, and her people enjoy dates under the stars.”
“D-date?!” Yamato panicked, sitting straight up. “I… uh…!”
“What did you think this was?” she asked, a sly smile tugging at her lips.
“I dunno; I’ve never done this before.” He opened his bento and saw the carefully-filled compartments filled with tasty things that made his mouth water. “I didn’t know you could cook.”
“I learned during my time in hiding; the ability to make one’s own food is invaluable when it comes to both blending in and avoiding poisons.”
“Oh… never thought about it like that; thanks for the meal.” Yamato ate some of the food and it sent a shiver up his spine—it was so yummy! “I don’t know if I ever stole stuff this good when I lived on Onigashima!”
“I know the feeling.”
Feeling even more out-of-place than before, Yamato picked at his tempura. He was really awkward, wasn’t he? Kaido had tried to set him up with people since he was eighteen, but between him trying to run away and how boring or weird they were, nothing stuck. He would have never considered them dates, and yet now… he was on a date! Oh, he was on a date and they were having homemade bento under the stars… he was stupid for not piecing it together beforehand! Stupid, stupid, stupid…! He went to reach for his tea, only for Hiyori to place her hand on his so that they both held the cup. She took advantage of the fact it froze him and leaned forward, pressing a light, chaste kiss to his cheek.
“Oh! Uh… you are bold, Hiyori-san.” He took his tea and drank some, leaning back out of her reach. “Isn’t this awkward?”
“Now why would it be awkward?”
“I dunno… maybe that I’m Kozuki Oden…? You know… your father…?”
“You might have inherited my father’s will, but you are not him, and that is a good thing.”
“…but, I want to become like Oden some day!”
“I’m sure you will, but do remember that Oden was made to boil; like any good dish, it needs to be prepped as well.”
“Huh…?” Yamato blinked. “What do you mean…?”
“Oden is comprised of many things to make the dish,” Hiyori explained. She smirked as he gaped at her, unsure where the metaphor was going. “That was my father’s secret: he wasn’t Oden because of anything he did, but was only truly Oden when he filled his life with kind and loyal friends, like a chef making oden out of the finest master stock and ingredients.”
“I already have amazing friends—how could I possibly improve on that?”
“Let’s just call it a woman’s intuition.” She kissed him again, this time pressing their lips together. Yamato’s face flushed deep in blush—oh, it made his stomach flutter—and he tried to act cool, only to fail miserably and freeze up again as he mentally processed it. “Great things are in your future; I can feel it.”
“Y-Yeah…?”
“Of course.” Hiyori turned her face up towards the sky, taking in the stars above them. “Only someone great can inherit my father’s will, and my brother is not yet ready for it. That leaves only you, Yamato, and you have done an excellent job thus far.”
“I, uh, guess so…” Yamato looked up to see what Hiyori did and saw the heavens stretched out above them, stars scattered amongst the cosmic dust that stretched from one horizon to the next. “Maybe this was a good idea.”
“No maybe about it,” she smirked. Hiyori opened her bento and began to eat; it was a picnic, after all.

Note
hey, got something both for you, and for your manager again! kinda. the manager thing is an ego gift... actually, could make that 2 if you're fine with 'em handling something risky.
that being said, lemme drop the personal gift for you off.
[it's... a set of teacups? and a thermal flask. the flask looks more functional, but the tea set is clearly ornate]
just a bit of something for when you're out on a longer trip, nothing fancy for now!
Interesting. I shall potentially bring these with me if I decide to explore other mirror worlds. It would be interesting to know of their concepts and possibly how each one came to be.
