Days Of Steam 001: Norah Lorway

Days of Steam is a new mix series, in tandem with the eponymous radio show on N10.AS, hosted by Neonlichter. People play music - some danceable, some not - with no regard to age or style. Some of the guests may not even be producers or DJs.

Starting off the series is Vancouver-born, UK-based composer Norah Lorway (@norahlo), one of my dearest friends who is a formidable (and suitably lauded) artist and lecturer. Their label Xylem (which I’ve released on) has been releasing algorithmic and electroacoustic compositions since 2012. Their mix for us plays like a nostalgic mixtape where evocations of childhood and the club exist in tandem.

New Project

Tony Goldwyn, Rufus Sewell, Justin Theroux join Amma Asante’s ‘Billion Dollar Spy’

Principal photography has begun in Hungary on Walden Media and Weed Road Pictures’ Cold War thriller Billion Dollar Spy directed by Amma Asante, with Tony Goldwyn, Rufus Sewell, and Justin Theroux joining Russell Crowe on the cast.

Hanway Films handles international sales, and CAA Media Finance represents US rights.

The true story of Soviet spy Adolf Tolkachev stars previously announced Crowe in the lead, with Harry Lawtey as his Moscow-based CIA handler Tom Lenihan, Vera Farmiga as Tolkachev’s wife Natasha, and Willa Fitzgerald as Lenihan’s wife Mae.

Bafta winner Asante, whose directing credits include Belle and A Way Of Life, directs from the adapted screenplay by Ben August and Oscar winner Stephen Gaghan based on David E. Hoffman’s non-fiction book about Tolkachev.

Goldwyn will portray CIA case officer Burton Gerber, Sewell plays CIA Moscow bureau chief Gus Hathaway, and Theroux is CIA case officer Van Spencer. Additionally, Tennyson Crowe joins as Tolkachev’s son Sasha Tolkachev.

On July 14 2023, the RUDIMENT COLLECTIVE together with RAW INDUSTRIES will assemble as part of the art festival KHMYZ to create a chamber atmosphere of the summer evening, during which there will be shown also animation films of famous Ukrainian directors, such as MYKYTA LYSKOV, STAS SANTIMOV, SESTRY FELDMAN.

KHMYZ is an international interdisciplinary art project that focuses on the study of modern protest art as a driver of worldview changes and cultural transformations. Experimental art has become a voice of self-expression and a way of communication Ukrainian artists with local communities around the world.

RUDIMENT KYIV-BERLIN label, originated in 2010, in Dnipro (Ukraine) has been organising underground techno and electro events to cultivate the local scene of Ukraine.

    Bio Nicolas Troncoso (Mr. Tron) is one of the most interesting DJs and production artists of the emergent Minimal and Techno scenes of South Florida, well known for his dynamic sets, smooth mixing and detailed production. Originally from Argentina, he has been a resident of Miami, FL since the age of 10, and has played an active role in the Miami community for the past 15 years, using various aliases before pursuing Mr. Tron. Under this alias, he has maintained different residencies in clubs around Miami such as the legendary Techno Loft in Club Space, The Electric Pickle, Treehouse Miami, and ATV Records, and has also appeared in festivals such as iii Points festival, and iii Joints festival in Miami, FL, owned and operated by David Sinopoli. His current projects include owning and managing A&R for Alchemista Records and co-founding Zosimos, two independent vinyl and digital record labels showcasing international talent and self-releases.
