My first strip-out took place in the L.A. County Jail. The jail was a place of many firsts: the first time I would walk handcuffed and shackled to meet visitors, the first time I would be approached for "protection money"; the first time I would see crips and blood's and understand their decades-old battle. The utter and complete change in my life that came about in the L.A. County Jail is something that is difficult to explain. How can anyone describe the complete loss of freedom? When the call came announcing the warrant for our arrest, I was in Israel. Halfway around the world and free. Free to run and hide. But I never once considered running from the law. I was relieved to be "caught" – like a man stepping into a hot baht, I was finally washed of my secret.
When I came to the jail, I wasn't prepared for the stop-and-go pace. I would wait hours for the next thing to happen, and when it did, there was never enough time. Contact with the outside world was brief and monitored. Meals were scheduled and timed. The yard was small and closed and available only one hour a week. My first strip-out was like something out of a dime store novel. The jailors did everything they could to make it uncomfortable, but the whole time I stood wondering why they didn't just give up. Didn't they know that a stranger examining your body in a well-lit room with gloves and flashlights doesn't hold a candle to the terror of your father forcing unspeakable acts in the dark of your bedroom? I'm sure I hated the intrusion and humiliation, but the loss of privacy in a jailhouse setting just didn't seem that outrageous to me.
And so I dealt with it in the beginning. It was only over time that the intrusion and loss of privacy became an annoyance, and then a violation, and eventually a subtle act of violence, like Chinese water torture. The drip, drip, drip of experiences would finally get to me, and for a time I hated the guards as they administered strip-outs. But like everything in life, you must fight or give up, and eventually, I decided that strip-outs wouldn't break me. Once my body was visually searched, I was handed a pair of boxers, shirts, socks, and a blue, ultra-thin jumpsuit. The material was so thin you could see through it, and it made you wonder why they even bothered to cover you in the first place. "It'll be a while," the guard said. He slapped the door slot shut and I was alone again in another hastily cleaned cell with remnants of the dozen or so prisoners who had passed through Folsom's Center for Receiving and Release before me.
Page 16
When the officer finished, I was given a "fish kit" (toothbrush, toothpowder, a razor, and a bar of soap) a bed roll (two sheets, a towel, and a blanket), and a brown cup and spoon. My cell was on the upper tier. I dragged my property up the stairs until I found myself standing outside my cell. As I looked in, I was shocked by what I saw. The cell was tiny and torn by graffiti. It was not just scraped up a bit – it actually looked like someone had entered the cell, somehow pulled the walls absurdly close together, and then clawed at the surfaces until every inch of the drab gray paint and concrete walls had been marred by scratch marks and gang signs. These cells made those at Folsom look like suites. The cell measured six feet by ten feet, but they closed in at the front, narrowing the width to just under four feet, less than the span of two outstretched arms. The cell was smaller than a closet. My first thought was that two people could not possibly live in this. I must have been thinking it for some time, because the guard yelled, "Menendez, what are you doing? Get inside! I stepped in but for whatever reason, the guard didn't immediately shut the door behind me. I was almost relieved. At Folsom, the operation of cell doors was completely controlled by the tower guard. So I was perplexed when I heard the guard yelling again. "Menendez, what the hell are you doing? Am I going to have a problem with you?" I slunk my head out the door "What do you mean?" Shut the damn door!"

I'm young but from a country that used to be a few years behind on trends, or, at the very least, clung to some things of the past. So I'm reading a period fic and there is the mention of tooth powder. And I felt nostalgic because I remember using it too!! It is strange because toothpaste was what I used first, but toothpowder was simultaneously in use in my childhood village/town, but perhaps more of a novelty at this point? I still remember the taste and feel of it when I rubbed it over my teeth snszhzj finally something I can relate to in fics and it's THIS of all things!

People, this is the genuine truth. China turned their emperor into a broom-pusher who finally learned how to apply toothpowder to his own toothbrush. (It was before the era of widespread use of toothpaste.)
How different revolutionaries dealt with their monarchs
(Always go the Chinese way if you're able because it's by far the funniest)

10 DIYs To Remove Hair Color Stains From The Skin

When you're trying to dye your hair at home, oil or petroleum jelly can come in handy.
How To Remove Hair Dye From Your Face
Let’s begin with how to rub off the hair color stain from your face, including the forehead, hairline, neck, back of the head, and ears. Remember, the skin on your face is delicate. Do not use harsh chemicals or rub vigorously as it will irritate the skin. Check out these hacks if soap and water did not get rid of the dye stains on your skin completely.
1. Olive Oil Or Baby Oil

Image: Shutterstock
Olive oil and baby oils are great cleansing oils. Cleansing oils do not irritate the skin or cause dryness as compared to regular cleansers (1). Baby oil is gentle on the skin, while olive oil has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and hydrating properties (2). Hence, it is safe to apply olive oil and baby oil to remove hair dye stains.
Dab olive or baby oil on a cotton ball or pad. Apply it to the stained area in a gentle circular motion. Do this twice a day for 1-2 minutes. Apply refrigerated aloe vera gel to soothe the skin.
2. Vaseline Or Petroleum Jelly

Image: Shutterstock
A study states that medicinal Vaseline or petroleum jelly can seal and protect the skin for at least 6 hours (3). It also locks in moisture and keeps the skin soft and supple.
Massage Vaseline or petroleum jelly onto the stained area in gentle, circular motions. Use soft cotton pads or wipes to remove the color stains from your face. Apply refrigerated aloe vera gel to soothe the skin.
Note: Avoid Vaseline if you have oily or acne-prone skin.
3. Face Wash With Scrubbing Granules

Image: Shutterstock
Face cleansers help clean dirt, grease, and excess oil to improve the overall health of the skin (4). Gentle, non-comedogenici , and moisturizing face cleansers with scrubbing granules help exfoliate the dead and dry skin without irritating it.
Use a face wash with scrubbing granules that suits your skin type. Splash water on your face and massage a coin-sized amount of the face wash onto the stained areas for at least two minutes. Wash off with water and apply refrigerated aloe vera gel or a soothing moisturizer. Repeat this twice a day.
4. Makeup Remover
Natural, oil-based makeup remover is the best non-toxic home remedy to get rid of water-resistant, long-wearing makeup. The active ingredients in these removers help dissolve the impurities and keep your skin clean, makeup-free (Thus, a makeup remover might help get rid of hair color stains on your face (5).
5. Toothpaste Or Toothpowder
Toothpastes and tooth powders contain “whitening” ingredients that help get rid of the yellow stains on teeth (6), (7). You can harness this stain removal power to get rid of unwanted hair dye stains on your face. However, it might worsen acne, cause dermatitisi , and irritate facial skin.
Dab toothpaste or tooth powder on the stained area. Use a damp cloth or cotton pad to rub the area in a gentle, circular motion for 2 minutes. Wash your face and apply a soothing moisturizer.
Note: Do not touch your eyes or nose without washing your hands. Avoid toothpaste or tooth powder if you have dry or sensitive skin.
6. Rubbing Alcohol
Rubbing alcohol can also work as a hair color removing agent. However, if you have dry and sensitive skin, avoid using it on your face. If you have oily or normal skin, dab a little rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad and massage the stained area in a circular motion. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and warm water. Apply a moisturizer to prevent dryness.
Do not apply alcohol on broken and irritated skin. It may cause discomfort and you may feel a burning sensation. If you have hair dye stains on your hands, use the following methods to get rid of them.
How To Remove Hair Dye From Your Hands
Note: Do NOT use these cleaning ingredients on your face as they may irritate and damage the skin. Avoid them if you have sensitive skin and eczemai or dermatitis. Instead, try preventive measures.
7. Liquid Laundry Detergent
Liquid laundry detergents remove stains effectively, and you can use them on your hands for hair dye removal. First, apply baby oil to your skin to prevent any irritation and redness. Dab some liquid laundry detergent on a soft, damp cloth. Rub it on the hands gently in circular motions. Wash with lukewarm water and apply aloe vera gel to soothe the skin.
You can also mix bleach and soap for very stubborn areas, but remember that bleach can be harsh on sensitive skin.
8. Dish Soap And Baking Soda
According to research, baking soda is an effective whitening agent and helps remove stains on teeth (8), (9). Dish soap contains detergents, surfactantsi , preservatives, fragrance, and colorants. The combination of dish soap and baking soda can make for a potent stain remover.
Mix a pinch of baking soda in a dollop of dish soap. Apply it to the stained area and rub gently using a soft, damp cloth. Rinse off and apply a moisturizer.

9. Nail Polish Remover
Nail polish removers are made of acetone, isopropyl alcohol, and other ingredients that help wipe away nail polish. You can also use them if a small area on your hand is stained with hair dye.
Dab nail polish remover on a cotton ball and gently rub it on the area in circular motions. Wash with soap and water and apply moisturizer.
10. Hairspray
Hairsprays are composed of copolymers of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) and different alcohols. If you have hair color stains on your hands or any other body part except the face, spray it on the stained area and rub gently to remove the stains.

I really enjoy reading your raw food adventure, where would I be able to access the 80/10/10 PDF? Also, what kind of toothpaste do you use?
Thank you! I received the PDF from someone and I'd be happy to pass it along if you'd like to send me your email address. I promise that I have 634534 better things to do than do anything disreputable with your email. :)
Also, here's a photo of the toothpowder I've been using. It's good.
