Consider..: capture mission, working some with Saladin's Iron War Beasts. It's been a long time tracking this target down, constantly slipping out of the Coalition's fingers. Everyone is well and ready to be done with this whole operation and are rushing to the vehicle bay to stop the target from escaping again.

They have minutes, at most, and Wolf rushes ahead without regard for the forces in the way beside the ones in their dead-ahead path. It's barely enough to get through the sprawling base lay-out in time to even see the target.

For all of their momentum, the Guardian watches painfully slowly as the target rushes onto a Thresher and begins to power on.

It's, undoubtably, a bad idea. They're in the middle of an open battle field, under heavy fire, all eyes on them. It's too risky, they can already hear Saladin say. Maybe a lecture on permanent damage from Zavala.

But the target is right there.

The rest of the squad arrives a few minutes later to a recently-quiet field, more or less. The radar registers some likely hiding, not reachable from the height of the giant beast with the Thresher punctured in its man-sized, abyssal-black teeth.

The leading Colossus watches from a distance as the Light-beast paws at the remaining thruster on the ship, before finally catching a claw in the joint and pulling with it's jaw. Only after rendering the hull of the Thresher an effective cage for it's passenger does the giant turn to the wargroup.

Even across the field, the attention is heavy; lacking pupils but the stare is almost a feeling. It remains deathly still for a few moments before he catches a tail flick out of the corner of his eye and it seems to make a decision.

Approaching now, it occurs to him that the distance made it seem much smaller. Even with the Thresher in its jaws as a reference, only the length of its strides across the field combined with its shadow's depth has its size sinking in.

He almost thinks its not going to stop its approach, until it abruptly drops the half-dismantled Thresher perhaps a dozen feet from his boots. And then sits. And... curls its tail in front of it.

A bizarre corner of his mind is reminded of his time as a beast-tamer; the way well-trained Warbeasts would sit and wait for orders, or... play fetch.

Every nerve in his body screams he should be afraid (nonsense - he is Cabal, he does not fear), and yet the familiarity in something so otherworldly is what freezes him. Up until the moment it begins to lean forward with slow blinks of its four eyes.

It stares.

He stares back.

...

It is supremely awkward.

The Light-beast draws back some, only to nudge the bulk of the Thresher forwards. The action draws his attention back to the reality at hand: the capture mission.

There are purple Light-stains around the puncture points of the hull. He isn't entirely sure the target is still alive in there. It nudges the hull again, this time accompanied with a shake with one paw.

Evidently, there is something alive in there, as proven by the various sounds of distress.

He supposes all that's left is to clean up the remaining forces, now, even as the Light-beast seems distracted by a newly mobilized tank.

It... can have its fun, he decides.

ive been thinking a lot today about my plans for ITNL 15, AND i have tomorrow off, so if all goes well i'll be able to start writing again. TOMORROW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i’m about to be so gODDAMN BUSY IM SO 😭😭 my manager scheduled me for four days out of the five i’ll be here for this week. i’m gonna be so tired :,) but the week after that i’ll have three shifts max and then i’m done working there so. i must persevere. plus i need money after the amount i spent in guatemala LOL
