I was confused that after returning from prison of regrets, Rook was immediately dragged to a hub meeting. Turns out that after the prison, your love interest insisted that everyone leave Rook alone and send them to rest. And only then there was a meeting.
Rook: Solas? (?): We're not sure. Probably searching for some way to defeat Elgar'nan. (?): We don't know. Not really. We were so busy looking for you we… lost track. option: It's been two weeks. Rook: I was… what? Two weeks? option: A two-week long day. Rook: Apparently my hard day lasted two weeks. (?): Yes, you were gone two weeks. Which means you need rest, food, and water. (Emmrich?): Yes, my love. Which is why you shouldn't rush out just yet. (?): Enough of this. You need food and rest. We'll talk business later. (Taash?): Yeah. So you need rest. We can talk about the other crap later. Davrin: We'll talk about this later. You need some rest and Assan needs feeding. (?): Everyone please stop. Rook needs rest, and… food, probably… (?): Yeah. A lot happened. But it can wait. Until you've had some rest. (?): Yeah. There's a lot to catch up on. After you rest, anyway. Rook: Thanks, Bellara. Bellara: Of course. I'm here for you. Whenever you're ready. Rook: Lucanis… Lucanis: Go get some sleep before you collapse. If anybody knows how bad that is, it's me. Rook: Taash… Taash: You need rest. I'll make you tea. Do you want ginger or lavender? Rook: Emmrich, I can't… Emmrich: Please. For the sake of one who's missed your company. Rook: Rest? There's so much… (?): There always is. Don't worry. I won't start without you. Rook: I can't rest, there's too much— (?): Who knows you best? Rook: But there's so much to— (?): Please, Rook. For me. option: Then let's all take a break. Rook: Everything you've done, you all deserve a rest as much as I do. option: Not too long Rook: The gods can wait a little while longer. Rook: Not for too long. But fine, I'll go rest. And hey, it's nice of you to care. (?): You're quite welcome. (?): It's good to have you back. (?): I'm so glad we got you back. (?): It didn't feel right with you gone. (?): Rest well, Rook. Davrin: Assan will be happy to see you. (?): Yep. What they said. (?): I'll see you in a bit.
I wonder how the decision was made to remove this content. This is a scene where LI worries and cares about the player's character. No no no, let's cut it!
I mean, if it's in the localization file and translated into 11 languages, then it was most likely already voiced and implemented in the game.

Since it was basically stolen from us....can you maybe write a fic where Rook comes back to Emmrich after he pulls them from the Fade?
The world was a dizzying swirl of light as Vae felt herself pulled from the Fade. One moment, she was locked in an endless cage with the guilt that clawed at her heart; the next, she was being dragged through a rift, her senses overwhelmed by the sudden solidity of reality.
With a loud crash, she landed on something soft and warm.
"Ugh!" a familiar voice grunted beneath her.
Opening her eyes, she found herself sprawled across Emmrich's chest, her tangled hair hanging between them. As she sat up, their wide, shocked eyes met, frozen for a heartbeat in time.
"Vae!" someone screamed. Then a cheer erupted around them. The sound of her team's unadulterated joy was like a rush of air after drowning, but it barely registered.
Emmrich shifted to his knees, his arms wrapping around her in an instant. "Darling..." he choked. His embrace was fierce, as if he worried she might vanish again at any moment.
"Emmrich?" she murmured, her head still reeling from the shock. Solas' betrayal, Davrin and Assan, Bellara, Varric—it didn't feel real.
"You're back," he gasped, his voice breaking. "You're back."
His words in her ear, the smell of his cologne and sweat—that was the tether. The proof she needed. Her arms instinctively wrapped around him as well, her fingers bunching in his shirt.
"Emmrich..."
Around them, the cheers slowly began to wane, replaced by a soft, reverent silence. Tears welled in Harding's eyes, but she managed a shuddering smile. Neve, wearing an almost imperceptible grin, gave a single nod of approval while Lucanis gripped her arms. He could feel Spite stirring, though for once he welcomed the uncomfortable tug at his psyche, the bitter spirit unusually blissful. Even Taash, who rarely let their mask slip, looked visibly relieved, their hand a comfort on the back of Harding's head.
But the moment was unbearably bittersweet, Bellara, Davrin and Assan's absence inescapably loud. One taken, two fallen. Vae felt a sharp pang in her chest, but she pushed her emotions aside.
There would be time to grieve later.
"Thank you," she said, staring up at them. "All of you, for saving me." She smiled, her gratitude more sincere than they could ever know. "Let's get back to the Lighthouse. We need to figure out—"
As she tried to pull herself up, Emmrich's arms tightened, keeping her grounded.
"Emmrich?" she blinked in surprise. "Come on. We need to—"
"Not yet," he whispered, his voice weak. "Please... not yet."
Her chuckle came out playful but uncertain. "You're being dramatic," she teased, patting his back. She tried to stand again, but he refused to let go.
And then she felt it—the trembling. His entire body was shaking, his breaths shallow and erratic.
"Emmrich?" she asked, her tone shifting to one of concern. "What—what's wrong?"
He didn't respond, his face pressed against her neck, the short bristles of his beard—which were normally never present—poking at her skin. The air grew heavy, the joy draining away as the others exchanged uneasy looks.
"He's been like this the whole time," Neve said, breaking the silence.
"What?" Vae glanced at her, confused.
"We were all a mess while you were gone," she continued, her voice thick with sorrow. "But Emmrich... he barely ate, barely slept. He just kept trying to find a way to bring you back."
Vae's brow furrowed as he clung to her like a lifeline. "What do you mean? I was only gone a few minutes. Maybe an hour."
Lucanis shook his head. "No, Vae. You've been trapped in the Fade for nearly a week."
"A week?" she yelled, looking around at their worn, overloaded faces. "That can't—I was only—!"
She paused. The exhaustion in their eyes, the way she couldn't account for all her memories—it was true. She'd been gone far longer than it seemed. How exactly, she couldn't say, but she knew it must have been tied to the curse. She grit her teeth, a cold anger at Solas churning in her throat.
"Nearly a week..." she wheezed.
"It felt longer," Harding admitted, her expression pained.
Vae swallowed, her gaze turning to Emmrich. Slowly, she pulled away, and what she saw made her breath hitch. His silver hair, usually so neat and distinguished, was wildly uncombed. His shimmering brown eyes, though cast down in embarrassment, were noticeably swollen, hollowed by dark edges. And although his clothes still carried the scent of his most expensive fragrance, his fingernails were coated in dirt and ink. His skin was pale and clamy, a thick stubble sprouting along his jaw. He hadn't shaved or bathed in days.
With a wince, Vae touched a hand to his cheek. "I'm so sorry," she rasped, her voice quaking. "I-I didn't mean—"
"Don't," he interrupted, gently tucking her hair behind her ear. "Don't apologise. None of this is your fault... and you're here now. That's all that matters."
With a sob he couldn't quite suppress, he pulled her back into his arms, somehow tighter than before.
Not wanting to intrude, the rest of the team turned and walked away, their footsteps retreating down the path.
"We'll meet you back at the Lighthouse," Neve offered, her voice laced with understanding. "Take all the time you need."
Vae sighed, her heart aching as she melted into Emmrich's embrace. "I'm here," she hushed. "I'm here."
"My darling..." he whimpered. "I was so afraid I'd lost you. Forever."
She nuzzled closer, shaking her head. For a moment, her hands drifted up his back, then curled over his shoulders with a tenderness he desperately missed.
"Never," she promised. "Never again."
She held him as though her touch alone could stitch his broken pieces back together—and after a while, it did. The tension in his body began to ease, the weight of his fear ebbing bit by bit as she pressed a soft kiss to his temple.
"Vae..."
Slowly, he pulled away, his gaze flicking to her lips. Then, suddenly, he closed the space between them, his mouth claiming hers in a kiss that was anything but gentle. It was anxious, raw—a collision of longing and relief, of anguish and ecstasy, of every emotion he'd buried since she'd disappeared.
"Don't stop," she moaned between breaths.
His hand slid to the back of her head, cradling it as the intensity of his fervour pushed her backwards. And she met him with the same fiery passion, committing every movement to memory, her lips dancing with his, eager to draw him from his pain.
"I'm here, Emmrich. I'm home."
Their kiss deepened, becoming a silent vow—one filled with unspoken words and a single, undeniable truth: they would never face the world without each other again.

Flowers of hope (Davrin x Rook fanfiction)
I wrote this for the third day of Veilguard Appreciation Week, organized by @veilguard-appreciation-week The prompts for inspirarion this day were: Hossberg Wetlands, Hope, "But if you say you're an expert? Show me some expertise."
Summary: Flowers bloom where before there was only blight, much to Davrin and Rook's surprise. Short and sweet.
Masterlist of my fics / AO3
The sight was unreal, that meadow outside Lavendel covered in beautiful purple flowers, when not so long ago it’d been full of blight and devastation, much like the rest of the Hossberg Wetlands.
Rook could barely believe her eyes as she strolled with Davrin through the land of flowers. She smiled at Davrin, who was looking around in wonder too.
“Are you seeing this?” Rook said in awe. “Can you believe it?”
“Barely.” Davrin chuckled, smiling.
“This…this must be what hope feels like,” she said reverentially. “One day, the whole place will be like this and there won’t be any blight.”
Davrin said nothing, smiling at her, and Rook pulled him closer to kiss his lips.
Soon, she convinced him to sit down with her among the flowers. She got an idea, and no matter she knew it was a silly one, it made her happy, and so Rook began picking some flowers from around her.
“They just grew and you’re already plucking them up?” Davrin teased.
Rook’d already been feeling a bit guilty about it, but it had a purpose, and it was only a few flowers. “I need them, you’ll see, it’ll be worth it.”
Davrin looked at her work in silence, and Rook noticed his smile of disbelief and his arched eyebrow when he realized she was weaving the flowers into a crown. Once she finished, she reached for Assan, who was sitting next to Davrin, and placed the flower crown on top of the griffon’s head.
Her squeal at the sight was embarrassing but she didn’t care. “Oh, look at him, Davrin, he looks perfect on it! Now he’s a proper prince!”
Davrin snorted, shaking his head, but he could not his smile. “Careful, he’s gonna get even more full of himself and cocky, and it’ll be your fault.” Assan squawked his disagreement, holding his head high as he almost seemed to pose, looking rather regal.
“Look at that. He was born to wear a crown,” Rook wasn’t totally joking.
“You’ll raise the most arrogant griffon if you keep this up,” Davrin chuckled. “Just be grateful he’s not eating the flowers.”
“What do you say, Assan, do you mind sharing with dad?” Rook asked, taking the crown from the griffon’s head, who didn’t seem upset about it, and balancing it on top of Davrin’s head.
“You look like a prince too,” she teased, but in all honestly, the softness of the flower crown suited him somehow. He looked beautiful, but when didn’t he?
Davrin rolled his eyes at her playfully, before he let himself fall onto his back, dragging Rook with him before she knew what was happening, and she landed on top of his chest with a startled yelp.
“You’ll crush the crown!” She chastised him. “And the rest of the flowers!”
“Nah, they can take it,” Davrin said, reaching for the flower crown that had fallen from his head and putting it on top of Rook’s hair instead. “Not bad,” he said as he looked at her, his tone teasing, but the fondness in his eyes as he looked at her made Rook’s heart do something funny.
She leaned over him to kiss his lips and then lay over his chest, content to snuggle to him when he wrapped an arm around her.
“We can stay here for a little while, right?” She asked softly. “Before we have to go back to the Lighthouse?”
“Yeah.” Davrin nodded. “The others can take care of themselves without us for a bit.”
The world outside that meadow was still blighted and dark, dangerous, there was still much to fix and to fight for…but that could wait, just for a little, and this, to Rook, this certainly felt like hope.

"it's Harding vs Assan" "Lucanis is a very passionate man" welcome back bioware racism! thank you for completely erasing our black companion and reducing our Spanish/Italian companion to the passionate lover stereotype!
I was going to put this rant in the tags but I'm doing it here below the cut.
you say Assan is as important as Harding??? you're implying that ASSAN is more important than DAVRIN, the grey warden warrior monster hunter with a beautiful character arc about learning to grow beyond what you believe is your sole purpose and discovering a new side of himself through selflessly loving a young creature that depends on him and loves him back unconditionally? ASSAN is more important than the overall beautiful and nuanced man Davrin is? Davrin, a whole person??? an entire companion? an actual romance option? I don't recall choosing between Harding and Assan on tearstone island. I did not tell Assan to lead the second team. from the bottom of my heart, john epler, get fucked.
and don't get me started on Lucanis. he pursues Neve because he's PASSIONATE? putting aside whether you saved Minrathous or Treviso for a moment, are you saying Neve is not equally interested in him? Is she not also allowed to be passionate and find him attractive? Nooooo, it's all him, because we wrote Neve to be the defrosting ice queen trope! see? she uses ice magic. you can even still fuck her if you don't save her city, because we wanted her to be fuckable By Men! that's why we reminded you how fuckable she is By Men by putting her with our Spicy Passionate Hispanic Man! that's why we hid a tweet about how popular she is with wlw!
and if you DO save Minrathous, Lucanis tells you he has no heart for anything but Treviso anymore. their obnoxious tooltip says Lucanis doesn't have time to pursue a romance with you. Lucanis was trapped in an underwater torture prison for a year and all he wanted to do was go home, and then it's blighted so he can't even have that and it's your fault. I don't care that he romances Neve afterwards - do whatever you want, king, if Neve was into me I would be running to her room too. Maybe they're bonding over their hometowns idk. but to say this is him being a PASSIONATE PERSON? Lucanis, the emotionally repressed Antivan Crow nepo baby whose love languages are feeding people and looking at them with big wet puppy eyes? yeah, sure. he had enough passion for Neve. let's just remove everything else that may have drawn them together for the sake of the stereotype and the het romance we had to force into our game. we're bioware, after all - we have to meet our racism and misogyny quota.

It's too late for me to be super coherent right now but I'm lowkey obsessed with how Harding clearly does still have those Southern Chantry biases we all know and hate, it's just that it's mostly subconscious and subtle rather than the outright "Oh you're a mage so you're Evil" of the earlier games. For example I just got a banter where she's audibly surprised to learn that the Mourn Watch (who are an order of necromancers and so primarily mages and who do not welcome Templars into their base) regulate the experiments their order is doing specifically to try to avoid people pulling horrifically inhumane shit like Hezenkoss did. Or her banter with Neve where she's shocked that Templars are in mages' pockets (instead of in charge of them, y'know, like jailors) and asks what people in Tevinter do when Templars (or maybe authority figures in general, it's been a bit since I got that banter, but in context she's definitely talking about Templars) can't be trusted to do the right thing as if they ever can be. And to be clear this isn't me dunking on Harding! I genuinely really like the subtle acknowledgment that even though the Circles aren't a thing in the same way anymore and even though we're mostly in parts of Thedas that have always had a different relationship with mages than the Southern Chantry and even though Harding is genuinely a kind person who cares deeply for her friends, that level of religious indoctrination doesn't just go away! The biases and tensions are still there, even though the way the Chantry officially treats mages has changed. And you can see Harding start to work through those biases as she gets closer to the less... Chantry-approved members of the party, most notably with Lucanis (who as an abomination would traditionally be in the "kill on sight" category even though the worst thing he ever does to the Veilguard is argue with Davrin (if you can count that as doing something "to" the Veilguard given they're both as bad as each other)). We love it when characters (and people in general) start recognizing the errors in their reasoning!

Hello :) #5 for the romantic one-liners please? ❤️
Romantic one liners here
#5 "When I'm with you, the world just fades away." It will be my pleasure. Have some DavRook on me.
To say she was tired was an understatement. It had been a long week of running around solving problems, and all she wanted to do was curl up and sleep for the next week. Which she could have done in her own room, but here she was, burrowing underneath Davrin's blankets while he was away.
Though she had tried sleeping in her room at first, her mind kept wandering, and she couldn't shut out all the issues that were still making her life hell. She had been hoping Davrin would be in his room when she walked in, only to be disappointed. Still she couldn't go back to her room, the silence had been killing her. Which was how she ended up in his bed, comforted by the scent of him the clung to the bedsheets.
She must have finally fallen asleep because she found herself waking to the feel of a hand gently running through her hair, and a soft tune being hummed by the man whose bed she occupied. Turning to him, she looked up to see he was smiling down at her, already having noticed she was awake.
"Did you miss me that much?" Davrin chuckled as he laid himself down next to her, to which she took as an open invite to curl herself against him. His hand moving to rest on her back, drawing small circles into her skin.
Resting her head against his chest, she took in the warmth he had to offer before trying to reply. "I sleep better here, than in my room."
"That's alright, you're welcome to come in and steal my bed any time Rook." Davrin softly replied, finishing his words off with a small kiss to her forehead.
"I had been hoping you would have been here when I walked in." She nervously said, worrying at her bottom lip with her teeth. They had been dating for a while now, but the words that filled her mind would give away how much she came to rely on him now.
The hand on her back stilled, and she could feel Davrin shift in her grasp. Worry filling her as he moved away, but the hand that came up to cup her cheek was tender, which matched the look Davrin was giving her. The worry that had sprouted, quickly vanishing on the wind.
"I heard from Bellara that you've had a rough few days. If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to come find me. I'll be here for you."
"Just be here, that's all I need. When I'm with you, the world just fades away." The words tumbled from her before she could think about how he would react.
"Then I'll be here. I'll be here as long as you'll have me." He smiled before leaning down for a kiss, his lips soft and reassuring against hers.

Chachkies - Emmrich Volkarin
There is low light glowing from her aquarium as she fiddles with her hook, unlooping then relooping the large thread around the hook, tucking and tugging as music flows from the record player in the corner of her room, slow and beautiful- a gift from one Nevarran Noble that had agreed with her actions that got her sent away from the Grand Necropolis. Myrna kept the music player in pristine condition, until Lillian could collect it herself. Normally, Lily refused all gifts of every kind, but she had seen the record player in a shop along the streets, and knew she'd never be able to afford one herself, so she hopped on the gift immediately so she could have some kind of noise for days like this, when nothing was happening, and they had no idea what to do next, and she could just relax.
Relaxing today includes music, her crochet, and some herbal tea with mint and honey to sooth her sore throat. Years of not talking alot is catching up with her, all the time spent with her books and crocheting in the library, rather than socializing at a gallery or dancing at a Gala. She preferred to be alone, at least then the only person who could hurt her, was herself.
Tugging her final loop closed, she hums, pleased, as she tosses the stuffed skull in her arms, giving it a squeeze. Brown eyes streaked with green stare blankly back at her, reminding her so much of her favorite necromancer (next to Vargoth) that she stands, taking her tea to steal a sip before placing the cup on the platter as she picks up the skull once more, walking from the room with a shy smile. If she could sneak into his chambers, not tell him it was her that made it, that would be ideal. She has done it in the past, a griffin for Davrin, a wyvern for Lucanis- they might know, but the have no way of knowing for sure.
The door clicks open to reveal Emmrich standing before his desk, magic dying on his fingertips as he looks up as she tucks the small skull behind her back.
"Rook," He smiles, setting the skull in his hand down. "did you require my assistance for something?" She shakes her head, feeling a blush staining her cheeks. "Do you... have something?" He inquires, tipping back on the desk to try to see around her, and she feels her cheeks burning even more as she slowly brings out the stuffed skull. "Ah! So, you were our mystery gifter!" He pushes off his desk, crossing to her as he slowly reaches for the skull, and she pushes it into his hands. "I suppose this means it's my turn, yes?" He examines the chachkie with a critical eye, ringed fingers trailing over the plush fabric as a smile appears on his face. "You're quite handy with a crochet hook, aren't you?"
"I... it's just something to do." She answers, fingers raking through curls, nervous and desperate to yank the stuffed skull away and run.
"You say that, but this is remarkably well made." He sets the small plushy on his desk beside his ever leaning tower of books, and a different warmth, not embarrassment, fills her chest as she smiles at him. "Thank you."
"You're... welcome." She shuffles towards the door, when he calls out to her.
"Lillian," Her eyes meet his as he smiles warmly. "if you should ever wish to talk, about home, or something else, I should very much like that."
"...yes. okay." She nods. "Thank you." She leaves the office, hurrying back towards her room, warmth growing with her chest as she collapses onto her lounger, fingers picking through colored yarn, already thinking about what to make next.

After the Storm Pt. 4
Check on Davrin
Davrin Masterpost
The Price of the Past Masterpost Previous: Check on Lucanis
Rook walks in to Davrin carving more small figures.
Rook: Davrin. Davrin, about Weisshaupt…
Dialogue options:
Affable: Are you okay? [1]
Stoic: You made them pay. [2]
Sad: I’m sorry. [3]
1 - Affable: Are you okay? Rook: Just wanted to make sure you're okay after… Davrin: I wouldn't say that, no. [4]
2 - Stoic: You made them pay. Rook: One less Archdemon in the world. At least you made them pay. Davrin: It wasn't enough. [4]
3 - Sad: I’m sorry. Rook: Davrin, I'm so sorry. Davrin: Yeah.
Grey Warden Rook: I've never been the most popular Warden, but the Order still runs in my blood. I never imagined a day when Weisshaupt would just… be gone.
Non-Grey Warden Rook: I can't believe Weisshaupt is gone. It's always been there, protecting the world.
Davrin: It wasn't supposed to be like this. [4]
4 - Scene continues.
Davrin: That's Rounald. Malmont. Anya. We used to argue: Who'd be the one to take an Archdemon down? Who'd die so that others could live? Not sure any of us believed it'd actually happen.
Rook: When the moment came, you did the Wardens proud.
Davrin: Did I? Because I'm still here. They're not.
Dialogue options:
Affable: I’m glad you are. [5]
Stoic: Move on. [6]
Sad: They were heroes. [7]
Grey Warden: I feel the same. [8]
5 - Affable: I’m glad you are. Rook: Personally, I'm glad you're here. We still need you. Davrin: And I need this to make sense. Rook: You're overthinking it. Davrin: Am I? A Grey Warden kills an Archdemon, they die. That's how it works. [9]
6 - Stoic: Move on. Rook: Beating yourself up about it's not going to help. It wasn't your day to go. Move on. Davrin: But it should've been my day. A Grey Warden kills an Archdemon, they die. That's how it works. [9]
7 - Sad: They were heroes. Rook: There's no getting them back. But at least they died heroes. Davrin: And I should've joined them. A Grey Warden kills an Archdemon, they're supposed to die. [9]
8 - Grey Warden: I feel the same. Rook: This whole mess is my battle more than anyone else's. I should've died before they did. Davrin: Can't help but wonder—maybe a Warden who survives an Archdemon is no Warden at all. Rook: It's in your blood. Our blood. No escaping it. Davrin: But we just did. [9]
9 - Scene continues.
Davrin: You know that. You signed up for it, too.
Rook: Who knows what happened? Maybe the gods changed things and the old rules don't apply. Why is being alive a problem?
Davrin: Because I didn't expect to be here! Grey Wardens have an expiration. It pushed me!
Rook: There's more fight to go.
Davrin: And if we manage to pull that off?
Rook: You'll do what you do best: hunt monsters.
Davrin: Plenty of people can do that! I'm talking purpose. I feel like a blade sharpened all these years to confront the worst darkness in the world. And my blade struck true at Weisshaupt. What now?
Rook: Well. You'll raise Assan to create a world where the light outshines the darkness.
Davrin: Yeah? Well, let me tell you. That…will require a lot more gingerwort truffles. (Chuckles)
Dialogue options:
Flirt (never flirted before): You can handle it. [10]
Flirt: You’re not alone. [11]
Affable: Welcome back. [12]
Sarcastic: It’s a living. [13]
Stoic: No more death wish. [14] +Davrin Approves
10 - Flirt: You can handle it. Rook: It'll work out. Someone like you, a slayer of Archdemons… Davrin: Oh, yeah? Keep going. Rook: …oh, a heroic Grey Warden… Davrin: Mm-hmm. I'm listening. Rook: …and, uh, admirer of all things Rook? Davrin: Now that you mention it, yeah. Assan: (Jealous squawk) Davrin: And you, too. I always admire the prince. [15]
11 - Flirt: You’re not alone. Rook: If you want company, I'll be there. Davrin: I was kinda hoping you'd say that. Rook: Just "kinda"? Davrin: Well, I'm not that easy to catch. Rook: Hey, I know a griffon. He'll hunt you down. Assan: (Friendly squawk) Davrin: Oh, you're in on this, too, boy? Rook: I don't think you're ever shaking him loose. Davrin: I can live with that. [15]
12 - Affable: Welcome back. Rook: That's more like it. Good to have you back. Davrin: Somebody has to feed his feathery butt. Assan: (Happy squawk) Rook: You live to serve, my friend. Davrin: Guess we're stuck with each other, boy. No getting rid of me now. Assan: (Happy squawk) Davrin: Someday I might actually know what that means. [15]
13 - Sarcastic: It’s a living. Rook: Hey, there are worse jobs than being a professional truffle hunter. Davrin: Don't start. Assan: (Indignant squawk) Rook: He seems to like the idea. Davrin: Guess we're stuck with each other, boy. No getting rid of me now. Assan: (Happy squawk) Davrin: Someday I might actually know what that means. [15]
14 - Stoic: No more death wish. Rook: I don't want to hear any more talk about dying, okay? Davrin: Fair enough. Assan: (Pleased squawk) Rook: He's counting on you. Davrin: Guess we're stuck with each other, boy. No getting rid of me now. Assan: (Happy squawk) Davrin: Someday I might actually know what that means. [15]
15 - Scene continues.
Rook: While you sort that out, maybe you and Lucanis can try to bury the hatchet?
Davrin: Yeah.
Rook: He had a rough time of it too.
Davrin: I know. That was an incredible shot he took at Ghilan'nain.
Rook: Then tell him that—because fighting each other won't help us defeat the gods.
Davrin: But we've got help: the Wardens, Shadow Dragons, Crows, Veil Jumpers—we're all in this together.
Rook: We are, but they've all got their own problems. If we want their help, we have to help them first.
Davrin: Is that a plan I hear forming?
Rook: I think it could be… Thanks, Davrin.
(If Minrathous was saved, Bloodbath is required to progress the main story. If Treviso was saved, The Cobbled Swan Case is required.)

Hello! Thank you again for being willing to write for Dragon Age Veilguard! Could you please write something about Emmrich, Lucanis, Davrin and Bellara (or all of the companions if you're feeling up to it) dating a reader who has the personality of a Shonen anime protagonist? So they're super strong and very formidable in combat, but also very friendly and enthusiastic while still being very protective of their friends? They may be a little reckless in combat, always charging in on the front lines to deal as much damage as possible, but that really just means more cute healing scenes with their love interest fussing over them. Bonus points if they really like to eat and are always trying to save everyone within 20 feet of them, like their care extends to basically everyone who isn’t a bad guy. Thank you! I hope your day is going well, take care of yourself!
Dragon Age Veilguard Characters dating s/o who is a Shonen anime protagonist would include.
@diabolicaltwink
A/N: I am so so happy that you requested this. It means a lot to me. So for your enjoyment and to make you smile and as well makes your day even better, here is the request you asked for lovely. Let me know what you think after you're done reading this. 😊
~Emmrich~
Emmrich finds his S/O's boundless energy and enthusiasm endearing, if a bit exasperating at times. He's used to the solemn, focused nature of his Mourn Watch colleagues, so his S/O's vibrancy is a welcome change of pace. Their bright personality never fails to bring a smile to his face.
As a skilled necromancer and scholar, Emmrich is accustomed to standing back and analyzing situations carefully. Meanwhile, his S/O is always the first to charge headlong into battle. Emmrich has had to adjust to their reckless fighting style, and often finds himself patching up their injuries afterwards while gently chiding them to be more careful.
His S/O's selfless, protective nature resonates with Emmrich's own strong moral code and desire to protect the innocent from dark forces. He greatly admires their drive to help anyone in need. Though he cautions them against spreading themselves too thin, he supports their heroic efforts.
Mealtimes with his S/O are lively affairs, with the protagonist eagerly devouring everything in sight while recounting their latest adventures. Emmrich is amazed they can talk and eat so much simultaneously. He enjoys their stories and makes sure there are always ample leftovers packed for his S/O's next mission.
When his S/O is injured, Emmrich personally tends to their wounds, his normally professorial demeanor giving way to open tenderness and concern. The protagonist assures him they're fine, but secretly enjoys being fussed over. These intimate moments bring them closer.
His S/O is endlessly fascinated by Emmrich's necromantic abilities and peppers him with enthusiastic questions. Used to people being unnerved by his powers, Emmrich is pleasantly surprised by their interest. He's happy to indulge their curiosity.
The outgoing protagonist encourages introverted Emmrich to socialize more. They drag him on double dates and group outings with their many friends and allies. Though initially hesitant, Emmrich ends up appreciating the camaraderie.
When his S/O is feeling down, Emmrich knows just what to do - he prepares a cozy night in with hot cocoa, fuzzy blankets, and lots of cuddles. His soothing presence and comforting embrace always lifts their spirits. Simply being together puts them at ease.
~Lucanis~
S/O is always rushing into battles to protect the innocent, which both impresses and slightly exasperates Lucanis. He admires their bravery and noble heart, but wishes they'd be a bit more cautious sometimes.
After particularly rough fights, Lucanis personally tends to S/O's wounds, gently bandaging them up while scolding them for being so reckless. S/O just grins and says "I knew you'd patch me up!" Much blushing ensues.
S/O's bottomless appetite and enthusiasm for food amuses Lucanis. He starts learning to cook their favorite dishes to surprise them with after a long day of heroing. Seeing S/O's delighted face makes the effort worth it.
Lucanis is touched by how S/O manages to extend compassion and kindness to almost everyone they meet. It's a foreign concept for an assassin, but S/O's warmth slowly softens Lucanis' pragmatic heart.
When S/O boldly declares they'll defeat the bad guys and protect their friends no matter what, Lucanis can't help but smile at their pure determination. He thinks S/O shines brighter than the sun.
In quiet moments, S/O rambles endearingly about all their friends and allies, making sure Lucanis knows he's an irreplaceable part of their treasured group now. For someone used to living in the shadows, Lucanis is moved to be so openly valued and cared for.
S/O helps Lucanis learn the joys in living beyond just duty and pragmatism. Their infectious love of life, unbreakable loyal bonds, and endless optimism is like a healing light to Lucanis' worn and jaded soul. With S/O by his side, even an assassin starts to believe in things like hope, friendship and happiness.
~Davrin~
Davrin is impressed by his s/o's incredible combat skills and strength. He loves watching them charge into battle fearlessly, taking on hordes of enemies. Though he does worry about their reckless streak and tendency to get injured.
After fights, Davrin always fusses over his s/o, patching up their wounds while gently scolding them to be more careful. His s/o just grins apologetically. Davrin sighs but can't help smiling at their enthusiasm.
Davrin's s/o has a huge appetite and is always excited to try the hearty stews and roasted meats popular among the Dalish. Davrin loves cooking for them and seeing their eyes light up at each new dish.
His s/o befriends everyone they meet, from random travelers to Davrin's stern fellow Grey Wardens. Davrin is amazed by their ability to bring light and laughter everywhere they go.
In quieter moments, Davrin's s/o likes hearing stories of Dalish lore and legend. They listen with rapt attention as Davrin recounts the tales of his people under the stars.
Davrin's protective instincts often have him rushing in after his s/o when they dash off to save someone in need. Fighting back-to-back, the two make an unstoppable team.
For all their strength, Davrin's s/o has an endearingly soft side. He adores how they coo over cute animals and tear up at emotional scenes in stories.
No matter what dangers they face, Davrin and his bright, brave hero s/o always have each other's backs - a perfect adventure partnership built on deep trust, affection, and mutual respect.
~Bellara~
Bellara would be equal parts exasperated and enamored by her partner's reckless enthusiasm for charging headfirst into battle. She'd scold them for not being more cautious, but secretly find their bravery and protective instincts endearing.
After battles, Bellara would fuss over patching up her partner's frequent scrapes and bruises, chiding them gently as she tenderly heals their wounds with magic. Her partner would just grin sheepishly.
Bellara's scholarly interests in ancient elven lore and artifacts would fascinate her partner. They'd listen raptly as she explains her research, even if a lot of it goes over their head. They admire her brilliant mind.
Her partner's ravenous appetite would amuse Bellara. She'd make sure to always pack extra rations and treats when they travel together, knowing her partner will inevitably get hungry. She finds their enthusiasm for food cute.
Bellara would be touched by how her partner goes out of their way to help and befriend everyone they meet. Their open, caring heart is one of the things she loves most about them, even if their naivete sometimes gets them in trouble.
When Bellara gets consumed by her research and starts neglecting self-care, her partner is always there to coax her into taking breaks for meals, rest, and time together. They look out for each other.
In quiet moments, Bellara would open up to her partner about her past heartbreaks and losses. They'd comfort her with their steady presence and remind her she's not alone anymore. She can be vulnerable with them in a way she can't with anyone else.
Bellara's fighting style relies on magic, agility and cleverness. It would complement her partner's more straightforward power-based combat style well. They'd make a formidable team, with her partner drawing enemies' attention while she strikes decisively from the flanks.

https://www.tumblr.com/a-mumbling-nerd/778315781529321472/welcome-to-cafe-rook Can I Get a Cinnamon Roll and a Chocolate Chip Cookie for your Rook?
Hello! Thank you for the ask, dear, it was a delight 🩵 but I am apparently incapable of answering them normally, cause I got Inspired, so here are two snippets in answer instead.
Chocolate chip cookie: We know of Emmrich’s mother’s Chocolate Torte, but does Rook have any family recipes?
Emmrich managed to leave the bedroom for the first time since he came down with quite a nasty cold. The variety of illnesses Elanora kept bringing home from school would truly be something to marvel at, were he not feeling absolutely dreadful. He put on a bathrobe and shuffled into the kitchen, where he could hear Rook, Ellie and Manfred engaged in some sort of exciting activity. “Dad, you're doing it wrong!” Manfred hissed in assent. “And how would you two menaces know?” “Cause grandma showed me. The carrots are supposed to look like tiny stars, ‘cause that will make daddy feel better,” Ellie said. “Stars!” Manfred hissed helpfully. Rook laughed. The sound was music to Emmrich's utterly clogged ears. “Fine, we'll make them into stars, but you're helping.” The two were nodding seriously and Rook turned around upon the sound of his wheezy breathing entering the kitchen. “Hey, love. Feeling better?” “A tad. What are you cooking, my darlings?” “Grandma's vegetable soup!” Ellie announced. “It's gonna make you stop being all snotty.” “Thank you, my dear girl, I will make sure to eat it all. Especially the carrots.” Ellie beamed at him and he felt much better already.
Cinnamon Roll: What is the sweetest thing Rook has done for one of their team members? How did the team member react?
Davrin wasn't so sure what to think about this. “Rook?” “Yeah?” “If this turns out to be some dumb prank I’m dropping you into a river the next time we're in Arlathan.” “Come on, have some faith in me. I would never pull a dumb prank on you. A clever one, on the other hand…” “Don't push your luck.” “You're no fun today.” He heard Assan chirping alongside them. Rook told them both to close their eyes and he was leading them somewhere in the Lighthouse. Davrin was wondering if Assan really kept his eyes closed. He wouldn't put it past him to try and peek. “We're here. You can open your eyes.” The library was decorated with flowers. Emmrich's work, no doubt. And there was some sort of cake on the table, but it looked like a product of Harding's cooking, so it probably wasn't going to be very safe to eat. “The cake's made from gingerwort truffles. You don't have to eat that,” Rook supplied helpfully. And Assan perked up and started squawking and bouncing around and there was a yell of “Surprise!” from behind them and Davrin pretended he didn't just jump a foot into the air. “Rook, what the fuck is this?” he whispered to the idiot. The scare must have taken a year off his already shortened lifespan. “It’s Assan's birthday! So we're throwing the two of you a party,” the idiot said with that dumbass grin of his. Something must have gotten into Davrin's eyes, because they suddenly started watering. "I… thanks, Rook.” He pulled him into a hug. He wouldn’t be pushing him into any rivers after all.

All right, so. Back to Veilguard, and we're kicking off straight into some major excitement for Helena, because halfway through bringing Davrin back to the Lighthouse, shit hits the fan dramatically.
-----
"So, this is where you live, huh? In the Fade?" Davrin is clearly making an effort to make conversation despite the fact that both of them are utterly exhausted from their battle with the darkspawn in the Anderfels.
Helena, lost in her own thoughts, has to take a moment to register what he said, and then another to think of a suitably cheerful response. "Yeah, it's cozy," she says mildly. "And the gods can't find us here."
Davrin blinks, then smiles ruefully. "Right," he mutters. "Never gonna get used to that."
"We'll find you and Assan a nice--" Helena breaks off abruptly as the sound of running feet echoes through the strange shifting air of the Crossroads.
All four of her companions have come bursting out of the Lighthouse at once, with Neve and Lucanis at their head, looking grim.
"What's wrong?" Helena asks, lifting one eyebrow. Too much to hope this is just the welcome-home party, huh?
"Everything's wrong," Lucanis rasps. There's no sign of the calm attitude with which he haunts the back pantry of the Lighthouse; his dark eyes are narrow and his body rigid with tension. "Treviso and Minrathous are both under attack."
A chill runs down Helena's back like lightning as Neve nods confirmation.
"Blighted dragons. Two of them, one for each city." She sounds grim, a muscle working in her jaw.
"Damn it," Helena mutters. "So the dragon at D'Meta's Crossing wasn't the only one."
Harding nods. She looks haggard and worried, her eyebrows knittied tight together. "You got back just in time."
Helena's mind is racing. Minrathous, her city, under attack by the very powers she is trying to stop - and Treviso, too, which she knows not nearly as well but which is full of innocent people just as Minrathous is. "All right," she says crisply, forcing her voice to sound steady as her heart begins to pound. "What do we know?"
"Two dragons at once?" Harding says, equally crisp - a scout making a report. "Has to be the gods behind it."
"Treviso's a merchant city," Lucanis cuts in urgently. "It has no defenses. And the canals run everywhere. If we don't stop that dragon, people will die. Innocent people."
"And leave Minrathous to burn?" Neve flares, her eyes sparking with unusual agitation.
Lucanis sighs. "Neve--"
Neve turns her gaze fiercely on Helena, her fists clenching one atop the other in front of her. "You're a Shadow Dragon, Rook," she says. "You know the Viper, Tarquin, every damn Shadow-- we'll fight to the end. But people will get hurt. Or worse." Her eyes narrow. "And if we fail, the Venatori will take advantage. They'll make a push for the throne, and hand the gods the entire Tevinter empire."
There's a cold, strained ache in the pit of Helena's stomach. She is hurting for Treviso, too - she liked the place on their recent visits, and the Crows have been good allies, and it's Lucanis's home.
But Minrathous is her home, and she is intimately familiar with all the people who will die, and all the consequences Neve describes.
And beyond all of that, she is so tired... they already fought a horde of darkspawn today, and her body aches in every muscle.
"Have we been able to--" she starts, haltingly, but Neve cuts her off.
"It's my city. *Our* city. I need to be in Minrathous."
"And I must go to Treviso," Lucanis says bluntly. She doesn't think she is imagining the hollow note in his voice, for surely he knows pefectly well what she is thinking. "Go where you feel you must, Rook. We cannot wait."
He turns and departs at a run up the slope. Neve follows him. The strange unearthly silence of the Crossroads fills the place where they stood, rings in Helena's ears.
"What's our move, Rook?" Harding asks in a low voice.
She knows her answer, knew it from the moment the problem was put before her, and she's not sure she likes how easy a decision it is. But... she has to protect her home. "We help Neve in Minrathous," she says.
Bellara and Harding both wear matching frowns - not so much in disapproval but in frustration at the unwinnable situation. "But the Treviso civilians--" Bellara says worriedly.
"Yeah. I know." Helena's shoulders slump. "I don't like it either. But if the Venatori take control of Tevinter, it's going to get a whole lot worse. That said..." She trails off, glancing around at the others, then nods slowly, pointing at Davrin and Harding. "Two of you should go to Treviso. See if you can help Lucanis get the civilians to safety." She jerks her head at Bellara. "And we'll head to Minrathous."
(A/N: Augh the drama!
Honestly this was not a very hard choice for Helena. Her whole identity thus far has been built on Minrathous being Her Place and Her People, and there was no way she was going to choose Treviso over it. Sorry, Lucanis. :( )
I will say that there is a snarky part of me that does find this setup a little darkly funny, though. They're clearly going for a situation like Amaranthine in DA: Awakening, where you have to choose whether to defend the city or the keep; however, in Awakening, you are determining the assignment of a small army IIRC.
Here... we are a small gang of four (4) people, which is not exactly a make-or-break amount of force to bring to the table for either city. And then Helena is sending two of them to Treviso anyway (without my input), so in sum total, the small-but-mighty Veilguard is sending the exact same force to both cities, and the only reason this decision has any sway at all is because she is the Main Character.
So that's a bit of a weird writing choice. I'm still very much here for the drama and all of Helena's angst on the subject, I just feel the need to point this out from a meta perspective. :P )
"Understood," Davrin rumbles firmly. He still looks utterly exhausted, but his eyes are suddenly alight, the weariness deliberately set aside in favor of the need for action.
Helena's fists clench open and shut rapidly, and then she turns and strides past them back towards the Lighthouse eluvian. "Let's all try to make it through this alive, all right?"

Some dialogues reflect whether you've finished the game. The Dread Wolf Rises quest. And also who you've chosen to lead the distraction team and to dismantle the magic wards. Probably earlier after the finale it was possible to complete unfinished quests.
I didn't record them all, just a few. The rest is in the text.
BELLARA
During The Forest of Spirits quest
in-game line Bellara: What they did, the Evanuris? To us? I can never forgive.
Rook: And you got to show them that—right to their faces. Bellara: Right. That's a memory I'm going to treasure.
in-game line Bellara: A third we give to the sky, to share your story with the sun and moon.
Bellara: Feels weird saying that one after everything that's happened. Bellara: Can't blame the rest of the ancient elves for what Elgar'nan did, though.
in-game lines Bellara: Now I have to live my life. For him. For me. And for our people. Rook: They aren't your problem to solve. You need to live for yourself. Bellara: That's true. There's still lots to do. To change.
Bellara: And even with the Evanuris gone, who knows what'll come next?
Romance scene after the prison of regrets. If the player chose Bellara to dismantle the magic wards
Bellara: Like. Thank you. For saving me, I mean. Rook: You're welcome. Bellara: Okay. Good. Bellara: So. Um. With all that. Bellara: Where does that leave us? Romantically, I mean. Bellara: I sort of tried to kill you. Sorry about that. Feels like it could make things awkward.
Option: You weren’t yourself Rook: Venatori had you under a spell. Not really your fault. Bellara: Okay. Fair.
Option: Little thing like that? Rook: Well, you've saved my life lots of times, so I think this one's a freebie. Bellara: Right. Thank you.
Option: You made up for it. Rook: We took down the gods and saved the world. I think you made up for it. Bellara: Oh! Right. Okay.
Bellara: Um... Um... Ugh. Th— The thing is...
in-game lines Bellara: (Sighs) This is hard. Finding the words, I mean. Rook: You can do this.
Bellara: When they... changed me. They told me no one was coming. Bellara: They found the part of my heart that doesn't want to be happy. And they fed it. Bellara: But I had faith. In you. Bellara: Deep down. Past the mask. Bellara: Then you found me. And saved me.
Option: I’ll always find you. Rook: I'll always find you, Bellara. No matter what.
Option: I was so worried. Rook: When you were taken... when I thought I'd lost you... Rook: Don't do that to me again, okay?
Option: Just doing my job. Rook: It's what I'm paid to do.
in-game line Bellara: After everything that's happened. That could happen...
Bellara: Even with the Evanuris gone, we don't know what's coming next. Rook: After what you went through, I'd say a little joy is well-deserved.
in-game lines Bellara: I know. But for now, it's nice. Bellara: After everything we've been through?
Bellara: After being brainwashed by Elgar'nan?
Rook: If I can make you feel that way, just a little, then I'm happy. Bellara: Me too.
Bellara: Rook. I, um. There's something I want to say. That I need to say, after... Rook: What is it? Bellara: I'm sorry. I'm being... it's not important.
Bellara: They made me feel lost. Alone. But part of me didn't believe it. Bellara: That part knew you'd find me. Pull me out of the darkness. And you were there. You're still here.
In the Lighthouse
in-game line about Archive Rook: Don't piss it off. Or accidentally bring back a would-be god.
Bellara: We took care of three of them. What's one more? Rook: Seriously? Bellara: I'm kidding! Mostly. Rook: Well, good luck, then.
Bellara: But we took down a god. More than one god, actually. Bellara: Guess we can say that. Now that it's over. Bellara: We did save the world.
romance line Rook: And I'm glad I saved it with you.
Rook: There was a cost—but we saved the world. Bellara: Right. It did. But we did. Bellara: We'll find Davrin/Harding. I know we will.
if Rook romanced Davrin/Harding Bellara: Rook. You and Davrin/Harding... I mean, I heard the two of you were... Bellara: I'm sorry. We're here for you. All of us. Bellara: Just. Hang in there, okay?
DAVRIN
When Davrin gives the Cauldron quest
Davrin: The Wardens aren't in any shape to deal with this.
EMMRICH
During The Sacrifice of Souls quest
in-game line Hezenkoss: It'll be a relief not to have to deal with those doltish Venatori after this.
Hezenkoss: They've been especially sullen after that eclipse finally stopped.
HARDING
In the Lighthouse after The Heart of the Titan quest
in-game line Rook: So what's next for you?
Harding: I don't know yet. Harding: I'm nowhere close to fully understanding this gift I've been given.
Harding: Now, I was just going to go get a nice warm cup of milk. And maybe a slice of cake. Rook: Cake? I'd be up for some cake. Do we even have cake?
After the Regrets of the Dread Wolf quest. When Rook says that Solas is to blame for what happened to the Titans.
Harding: It's a bit late for that. Harding: I wish we could've talked. Just once. As equals. But maybe he wasn't capable of seeing me that way.
Harding: I wish I could've made him understand what it felt like for the Titans—for us.
LUCANIS
Convo with Zara's corpse
in-game lines Rook: Illario used blood magic to control Spite. How? He's not a mage. Zara: Our risen god gives many gifts.
Rook: Elgar'nan? But he's dead? Zara: The ripples of our actions persist long after the body decays....
During the Inner Demons quest. If Harding led distraction team.
romance line Rook: Harding... Lace. If only you could be real.
Rook: Harding... If only this was real.
During A Murder of Crows quest
Magister Across the Roof: Vengeance for Lusacan! With me, Venatori!
Illario: Killing gods wasn't enough for you, cousin? You need to clean house, too?
NEVE
During A Study of Dock Town quest
Rook: How about this: next time we save the day, the fish is on me. Neve: You want me to bet on suriviving next time?
Romance scene after the prison of regrets. If the player chose Neve to dismantle the magic wards
Neve: Here we are. Rook: You came back. Neve: I had help. Neve: Rook, I... (Laughs) You've got me at a loss. I don't know where to start.
Neve: When we took on the gods, I didn't count on "after." Then there wasn't one. Now there is. Rook: That's a good thing, right? Neve: For now. The breaks don't last forever.
in-game lines Neve: Look, I still can't bet on "after." Not for sure. But I won't live like we're not getting one. Option: I'll always count on tomorrow. Rook: I'll place the bet every time.
Rook: I found you once. I'll always find you. Rook: And I'll face anything with you.
BANTER
in-game lines Bellara: Sometimes, it's easy to forget the ancient elves were mostly regular people, not monster gods. Bellara: And that those regular people were the first to try stopping Elgar'nan and Ghilan'nain.
Bellara: Maybe they were cheering us when we wiped that smug smile off of Elgar'nan. Emmrich: One hopes.
COMPANIONS ROOM
Taash: You see the size of that dragon? And we took it down!
If the player chose Davrin to lead distraction team. Previously, Assan could have survived. Audio
Bellara: Assan. I… tried to whittle this. I'm not very good, but I thought, maybe… you'd like it? Assan: (Happy squawk)
Emmrich: I suppose it's time you had another excursion. Emmrich: Perhaps the Necropolis? No. Davrin would want you exploring the wilds. Emmrich: Harding and I will take you a little later. Assan: (Happy squawk)
Harding: My ma always says we never really lose the people we love. We carry them with us. Harding: You'll remember everything he taught you. All the faith he had in you. All of his hopes. And he'll be with you. Assan: (Squawk)
MINRATHOUS
The Viper: We have our city back. Maevaris: Killing gods? That was the easy part. Now the real fight begins.
The Viper: You'll always have allies here.
Tarquin: Saved the city again, huh? You're making a habit of this. Rook: Hey, it wasn't just me. I had help. You were there too. Tarquin: Just doing what anyone would.
If Rook is trans or nonbinary Maevaris: It's been a difficult journey, hasn't it? Maevaris: Keep your head up, Rook. Know you'll always have friends here.
Rook: How are you? Rana Savas: Now that Lusacan—or Elgar'nan? With him gone... Rana Savas: There's a lot of work ahead, but we'll do it.
Elek Tavor: If it isn't the hero of the hour! Rook: I just get an hour? Elek Tavor: What can I say? News moves fast here. But don't worry, I'll remember you.
Marisa: City's in your debt, Rook. The Shadow Dragons won't forget it.
Venatori Deserter: Did you hear? They took down Elgar'nan! It's over! Erasmus: It's never really over. But we can hope.
Cida Ciconia: It's good to have Minrathous back.
Paper Seller: Divine death sentence denied! Minrathous stands! What comes next?
Paper Seller: Victory in Minrathous!
Dock Town Civilian: Minrathous survived. Scam Artist: Wouldn't have bet on that.
Old Dock Hand: If you can survive Lusacan's wrath, you can survive anything. Young Dock Hand: Heh. Maybe.
Civilian: All right. I've changed my mind about the gravy. It does make some things better. Dock Hand: So... tonight? Civilian: Yeah, bring the gravy.
HOSSBER WETLANDS
Antoine: Minrathous is huge! Evka: I prefer it out here. Quieter. Antoine: Lighter. Everything feels lighter...
Rook: Thanks for coming to Minrathous. Evka: Had to see it to the end. If Harding led distraction team Antoine: Harding—she'd be glad you didn't give up. She never does. If Davrin led distraction team Antoine: Davrin, Assan—they'd be proud. Maybe they are. Somewhere.
Mila: The Archdemons are gone.
Mila: So what will the Wardens do? Holden: Hard to say. I thought we'd stick here a little longer. Help Evka, Antoine, and whoever else is around. What do you think? Mila: Yes, obviously. Lavendel needs some stuff rebuilt. Holden: We can help with that. If Davrin led distraction team Mila: And Davrin and Assan. Holden: They fought to keep the rest of us safe. Mila: Do you think they're just lost somewhere? I heard one of Rook's friends talking. Holden: It's hard to say.
Holden: So, that's it for the Archdemons. Holden: If you told me a few years ago that they'd be gone in my lifetime—and in Mila's—I wouldn't have believed it.
Mila: Rook. You got the last Archdemon! Mila: Dad and I threw a party. We even made cake!
Warden Edwin: Without the Archdemon, my dreams have changed. Warden Rue: I'm going to sleep in.
Flynn: The gods, the Archdemons... you stopped them. Flynn: I felt something change. Sensed it. It was strange.
Warden Greta: No more Archdemons. Or blighted gods. Warden Greta: It's incredible. Rook origin Grey Warden Warden Greta: It feels quieter. You feel it, right?
Warden Rhodri: The Archdemons. They're gone. Forever! Warden Rhodri: You really did it.
ARLATHAN FOREST
Irelin: Where'd Morrigan go? Strife: I don't know, and I didn't ask. She wouldn't tell me, anyway. Irelin: Is she always like that? Strife: She seems to enjoy her reputation—and the chance to embellish it. Strife: A mysterious witch of the wild who swept in, helped defeat the gods, then vanished. Irelin: Yeah, well. I still don't think I like her.
Irelin: (Relieved sigh) Is it really over? I'm afraid to let myself feel normal again. Strife: I'm not sure "normal" ever returns, not when your gods tried destroying the world. But... Irelin: We're alive. And they aren't. Strife: And we live to see another day. Irelin: Try "a couple more decades," old man. Strife: Watch yourself, young one.
Amylia: Look who's here! "Rook the god-killer". Rook: I believe the correct plural would be gods. Amylia: Oh, sure, and there's the big head already. Feeling like a hero. Amylia: Well... you go right ahead. As you should. We owe you a lot.
Amylia They actually pulled it off? The gods are gone? Veil Jumper: They'll be telling stories about this for ages. Amylia Hope they remember the part where Quartermaster Amylia kept everyone's bits and bobs nice and sharp.
Veil Jumper: The gods are gone, so why is the forest still unsettled? Veil Jumper: That much dark magic released? It's going to take awhile to simmer down.
Veil Jumper Sentry: The gods are gone. Maybe things will get back to normal around here again.
NECROPOLIS
Vorgoth: GREAT TERRORS LIE IN THE DARK.
During one of the mourn watchers quests Irritated Venatori: Why are we here when our risen gods are dead? Venatori: That necromancer we talked to said there's power for the taking.
TREVISO
Jacobus: There's so much to do, and you have even more than we do. Good luck.
THE HALL OF VALOR
Mateo: Rook! There you are! I'm gonna set you up with the god-slayer special.

Rook to Rook Fake Banter
Inspired by @i-creatied-au, @a-mumbling-nerd, @lunammoon, and other's Rook banters. I tried my hand at Jerran interacting with other Rooks.
Apologies if I got anything wrong; I really tried to emulate everyone's lovely Rooks! I also did some quick sketches just for fun. Hopefully I did them justice.
Isiah Mercar and Eleanor Ingellvar
@a-mumbling-nerd
Jerran: *comes upon Isiah trying to cut an onion in the kitchen* What are you making?
Isiah: An omelet. Have you seen the pepper?
Jerran: A bit farther to your right, next to the bread.
Isiah: Oh, thanks. *he turns his head fully and then spots the pepper shaker*
Jerran: I've been thinking. Next time we go out, I'll stay on your right. That way your blind spot is covered. *he discreetly takes the knife away and finishes slicing the onion*
Isiah: Don't you use your left hand when you fight?
Jerran: I can make it work. It won't be pretty, but better than you getting ambushed from that side.
Isiah: Thanks, Jerran. Sounds like a plan!
__
Eleanor: *humming quietly to the wisps surrounding her*
Jerran: *comes up from behind* Oh, uh, hey, Eleanor.
Eleanor: *jumps* Oh my, Jerran! You startled me.
Jerran: Sorry. Great voice, by the way. Hey, about that halla you asked for earlier, well, it’s done. *hands the carving to her*
Eleanor: Oh my, it’s lovely. Thank you.
Jerran: Welcome. *rubs the back of his neck* Well, see you around the Lighthouse then.

Rowena Ingellvar and Portia de Riva
@booksncatsworld
Rowena: *sitting on the library couch, reading a book*
Jerran: *parkour-leaps over the balcony and lands with a crash on top of an Elven pot* Oops. Oh hey, Rowena. Don't tell Bellara. Wanna go kill some Darkspawn and Venatori?
Rowena: …. No, I don’t think I want to, thank you.
Portia's voice: Wait, wait, I'll come! *She appears and leaps down, also landing with a crash on a second pot*
Rowena: *winces*
Jerran: *high-fives Portia* YEEAHHH, Let’s go kick some Venatori ass!
*Jerran and Portia run down to the Eluvian, with Rowena shaking her head and staring after them*

Leslieya Ingellvar
@ghastlyang3l
Leslieya: *sketching*
Jerran: *next to her, concentrating hard and frowning*
Leslieya: Are you all right, Jerran? You seemed…. perturbed.
Jerran: I just can’t get this right.
Leslieya: Perhaps I can help. Might I take a look?
Jerran: *holds out a wobbly figure, clearly supposed to be Leslieya. One eye and the hands have been erased over and over*
Leslieya: *hiding a smile* It's a good start. Would you care for some suggestions?
Jerran: *sighs in relief* Yeah. Drawing is hard. I don't know how you do it.

Creep
@akuma-misery
Based on @akuma-misery's post . (I had Creep call Jerran "Commander" since he refers to Jerran as such throughout the post, but I wasn't quite sure.)
Jerran: *sitting slumped on the steps outside of the Lighthouse, head in his hands* Jerran’s advice booth is now closed. Opens at 9 am tomorrow. Or whenever the next day is here in the Fade.
Creep: Commander.
Jerran: *looks up, rubbing his forehead* Creep. I, uh, didn't realize it was you.
Creep: There is a game of Wicked Grace if you're interested. I think Lucanis and Davrin are joining.
Jerran: I'll be there. *he hesitates* Honestly, I can't figure you out, Creep. You're obviously five times smarter and faster than me. Every time I think I understand you, you shift like one of those color-changing lizards.
Creep: A chameleon?
Jerran: Yeah, one of those. So why aren't you leading the team?
Creep:... because you're the Commander.
Jerran: *obviously has no idea what to make of that* Well, just call me Jerran, will you? “Commander” makes me feel like I'm the First Warden or something. *he shudders*
Oh and…. Thanks. The games and stuff do help a lot.
Creep: …You are welcome. Jerran.

HI MEG HI WELCOME TO DADWC :D How about 'I know you're hurt. And I'm tired of waiting for you to bring it up' for Mina and Davrin??
ahsjdshsk Jacs you know meeee so well, this is such a good one for them!!!!!! Also it figures this would be my longest filled prompt so far…..I just can’t get enough of my girl Mina, I love her so much….
For @dadrunkwriting
Veilguard Mention!
———
Audience: Teen | Pairing: Davrin & Rook Ingellvar, minor Lucanis/Rook Ingellvar | WC: ~900 | CW: injury, discussion of major injury and death, discussion of anatomy (not sexual)
———
They’re only about halfway back to Lavendel when Davrin steps in front of her, suddenly cutting off her path forward.
“I know you’re hurt. And I’m tired of waiting for you to bring it up.” His voice is matter of fact, his arms crossed in front of him.
“What? No, I’m fi-” Mina cuts off mid-word as Davrin elbows her in the ribs, hard. She sucks in her lip, biting down on it. She will not groan out loud. She refuses to give him the satisfaction. But she still ends up bent over, her own arms wrapping around her instinctively.
“Yeah, that looks like the reaction of a totally ‘fine’ person, Ingellvar.”
“You elbowed me in the ribs!” She manages to cough out. Spirits, this hurts. How did he know the exact spot to hit? Mina looks around for Lucanis, surprised at his lack of reaction. She finds him behind her, with his arms also crossed, looking at her with concern. Great. They’re actually working together on something, and it’s bullying me, she thinks ruefully.
Davrin looks over her, towards Lucanis. “It’s like you said, broken rib. Maybe even more than one. I guess all that Crow training has some uses.”
“It does.” Lucanis’ voice is low, controlled, and Mina wonders if it’s because she’s in pain or if Spite is acting up again. “I am also skilled at caring for wounds, although Rook should not be in need of those services.”
Ah. This again. She doesn’t miss the way he says Rook, or the fact that he used her nickname at all. Mina almost wishes Spite would act up just to take the focus off her.
“You know, I think I liked it better when you two weren’t getting along,” she says, straightening. Her side twinges painfully, muscles complaining, her nerves on fire. She grits her teeth, breathing quickly, and holds her side. Lucanis, at the very least, would notice any reaction she had, so she might as well react to the pain. “It’s not that bad. I can keep going. Emmrich can heal it when we’re back at the Lighthouse.” Before she’s even finished speaking, she can tell they’re both going to have an issue with this. Blasted darkspawn-filled swamp, she thinks, bitterly. Fighting spirits and undead never leaves me with broken ribs.
“Even if it wasn’t that bad-”
“-which it clearly is-” Lucanis interjects, sounding angry. Or irritated. Mina can’t tell, exactly.
“Even if it wasn’t that bad,” Davrin repeats, “there’s still a high chance that we’re going to run into more darkspawn before reaching Lavendel. And I’m not getting killed by some hurlock because he’s-” he gestures sharply towards Lucanis, “-too distracted making sure none get close to you.” Lucanis starts to make some noise of disagreement from behind her, but Davrin cuts him off. “Don’t even try to deny it, Crow. You two are more obvious than you think.”
What? Mina blinks, trying to process everything, but her ribs are still pulsing agonisingly - distractingly - with each heartbeat.
“Why haven’t you just healed it yourself, anyways?” Davrin turns to look at her again. She’s proven time and time again to be a very proficient healer, so the question is warranted. But she was hoping they’d just…forget to ask.
“Well,” how to say this in a way they Lucanis won’t argue with…“it’s a very complex injury to heal, and if I don’t do it exactly right, it won’t set properly. It’s a lot easier with two skilled healers, like Emmrich and myself.”
Lucanis just stares at her. “I have set many broken ribs, Rook.” She grits her teeth. Mina knows the pain is making her short-tempered, but he’s really starting to get on her nerves. How many times do we need to have this same argument?!
“Yes, well, it’s still my body and I still know how to take care of myself, Lucanis. Do you know how many layers of fascia, muscles and ligaments are around the ribs? How carefully they connect to each other, how if severed and reattached in the wrong place, it can cause lasting pain? Or that if twisted just slightly too much, a broken rib can puncture the lungs,” - she gestures on her own body, turning pain into anger - “or nick important blood vessels, both of which would kill me before either of you could do anything about it?”
Both men stand silently staring at her from either side of the path. Neither move. Davrin, at least, seems to be considering her words.
“Alright, Ingellvar. I’ll take your word on the healing thing, but that doesn’t change the fact that you can’t exactly fight right now. And I don’t believe for a second that he’s just going to let this go and fight like normal.” He flicks his eyes towards Lucanis as he finishes speaking.
She turns to look over at Lucanis, and feels her heart crawl deeper into her chest. Lucanis seems to be even more at war with himself than normal. Fuck. She opens her mouth, reaching a hand out towards him, but he pushes past her. He doesn’t say anything, even as he steps toward Davrin, who moves to let him pass. Davrin shoots her a questioning look, but she is such a mess of emotions that she can’t think of a thing to say in response, so she just starts following Lucanis instead. Davrin throws his hands up in exasperation, muttering something about ‘why he even tries’ and ‘both stubborn as bronto’ and something in elvhen that she doesn’t catch at all.
Mina just stares at Lucanis’ back, wondering how she’ll fix this on top of everything else, and sighs - gritting her teeth against the pain that follows.

For the shipping questions meme, 17 🥺
Thank you 🥺 ❤️ Once again doing it for Bee and Dav
17. What did they do/would they want for a wedding ceremony? Would it be a large occasion, a simple one or would they elope?
OOOOH HEHEHE I HAVE A WHOLE THING.
Biyaya and Davrin have ALWAYS wanted to get married, especially when they realized it was FOR SURE. They just didn't know when or how, especially during the events of the game because there were so many other things to worry about.
After the Evanuris' defeat, Biyaya found out she was pregnant. Davrin was going to propose but now that there was a baby he finally decided he was ready to go visit his clan so he could introduce Bee and tell them "hey mamae and papae you're going to have a grandkid"
They get there and Bee is warmly welcomed into his family and clan, and they all got swept up in it all that they just had the Dalish bonding ceremony there. It ended up becoming a big celebration with the clan and it was so important for Bee because she essentially found a new community/family. It was important for Davrin because he realized his clan and family didn't hate him for leaving. Also Bellara was there with them and she got to join in the festivities ❤️
