Honestly at this point I'm genuinely unsure wtf is going on in Thirteen Storeys. At first I was like "Well these dead sure do look like they want something even though Diego over here claims that dead don't want anything." Then I was like "Ok uh. How does the local billionaire know WHO is haunted by ghosts? Why is he inviting everyone who's haunted by ghosts to his place when he is clearly responsible for those ghosts? That couldn't have ever ended well for him???" and now I'm like "...I no longer think these are ghosts."

#im sorry but whatever the fuck Penny is i dont think its a ghost of a little girl #mostly because that thing sounds like it genuinely just wants to torment and eat people rich or poor #like i get why the ghosts of indigenous people who had their land stolen would torment the guy who did it to them and later a rich guy #who clearly didnt care about right or wrong when it came to art; especially since hes also a POC. like i bet thatd make one mad yeah #and i get why AI Donna would torment the misogynist who had the gall to make her; his former boss; into a lobotomised assistant #(also i wonder if...if its true that he didnt kill her. he claimed that she died of a heart attack and thats possible but the whole thing i #that she starts to say things that Carter never recorded (he made an AI replica of Donnas voice without her consent) and theyre implied #to be things that Donna said or that he thought she said and when AI Donna gets killed he specifically says that she lets out a scream of #agony of being dismembered. which is. weirdly specific. like hmm. got personal experience with that dude?)#especially since he was a total fucking shithead who sold peoples data and ruined peoples lives just to turn a profit. like yeah id torment #this guy too.#id say he even got out of it quite scot-free compared to Jésus and to Violet #and i kinda get why the ghosts of the dead mine(?) workers would torment Violet; especially since more than tormenting her;#they seemed to want to get her attention. SHE was the one making it into torment. shes a working class person who struggles #to make ends meet even though shes got an office job now. her problem is her rather aggressive and boot-licking work ethic #and she has no class solidarity yet she doesnt dream of being the boot that crushes. she WANTS to be crushed. thats the thing about her #but Anna? Anna is literally just a kid. shes 7 years old. her parents are rich but thats not her fault? and Penny clearly wants to eat poor #people too. she implies that shell kill Diego; a poor working class guy; after shes done with Anna. whatever the fuck Penny and her #mother are; i dont believe theyre ghosts. the other ones might be but this thing is out to get you no matter what.#anyway really excited to see how this book develops. feels very TMA-ish in a good way
