The kitten is taken gladly, carefully, like it’s the most fragile thing in the world. The bath is somewhat quick, though not without injury – a couple holes in her skin, accompanied by a scratch that’s currently burning. Besides being offended at being wet, the kitten is entirely unharmed – though the pitiful meows and screeches coming from it might make it seem otherwise.
She keeps the bath brief but effective- not wanting to stress the little thing out too much. By the time Amine returns, she’s got the kitten wrapped up in a dish towel with only his front paws sticking out. There’s a piece of string dangling above his head that he’s pawing at and trying to bite. A nice enough distraction that he’s forgotten all about the crying he’d been doing.
At the sound of his question, she lets the kitten be free to wander around, and hopefully not piss on her carpet. He’s still a little wet but it’s warm enough in the apartment that she’s not too concerned about it. He doesn’t go far, though; content enough to attack the laces on her shoes.
“Yeah, let me get-“ Oh no. She’s staring again – and it’s painfully obvious, again. “Oh- or, I can… do you want me to just wash that? You can, like, hang out… if you want. You probably shouldn’t take him anywhere until he’s, um, fully dry, anyway.” Fuck – she’s being weird, and she knows it, and it’s only making it worse as she’s trying to force herself to keep looking him in the eye and not at the cutout sides of his muscle shirt.
“No pressure to stay, obviously, but, um… can I at least get you something to drink while I feed him? Or food for you?” She bends, happy enough to use the kitten as a distraction one more time as she wrestles him into her arms and turns to fish through a cabinet.
Oh, it was a joke. Right. Guess he's still too charged from the previous.. Doesn't matter. He's moving on, moving forward and entering the kind lady's home. It's a decent enough place, cleaner than his own, that's for sure.
When Cruor catches her staring, he's immediately afraid he has something on his face. Well, he does but it doesn't click until he actually looks down at the... God, that sure is a lot of dried blood. His lips thin in discomfort and he has to yank his eyes away. Onto the lady — Leo. "You're fine, I, uh, also don't remember." He tries for a reassuring smile, thinks he succeeds at least halfway. "Amine, and— thanks for last time. Really saved my ass."
The cat, tiny as it is, decides to make itself relevant by a shocking loud meow.
Startled, he almost drops the furball. Doesn't, but his hands had shifted slightly. "Um, yeah, actually. Here, I'll be right back." The kitten's passed over on his way towards the bathroom. With a soft click of the door's lock, Cruor fully sags against the sink. He gets the water going without looking at the mirror. Ideally, if he just splashes enough on his face, it'll help lessen the inevitable nausea. Maybe. Except, that doesn't account for his clothes. Mainly, his jacket, which he shucks off right after his face is clean.
He catches sight of the stain out of the corner of his eye. Remembers what caused it. That there's a body hidden in dead brush and bags of trash. His mind feels like it's detaching from his body again. The ground shifts even though his feet go nowhere. Shit. Shit.
Somehow, he stumbles back outside the bathroom. Down the hall and back into the living room. Just a little paler. Bunched up jacket still gripped tightly in a hand. "Is there a, uh, bag I can put this in?"

While I have personally suffered from the heat this week... it is more important to remember our farm animals.
Cows in particular have difficulty in temperatures above 25C.
Our dairy herd usually have 24 hour access to open pasture. But this week they have been kept inside, most of the time.
One lactating cow will drink up to 140 litres of water a day... greedy moo! But, all of the dairy herd are the same.
The sheep, and lambs cope a little better with the heat. But they do have access to shaded areas.
The pigs seem to love the hot weather, according to Tomas. Pigs do not sweat, and are susceptible to sunburn. Our free-range porkies have access to a shaded woodland area, as well as a recently renovated Dew Pond.
The farmboys, on the other hand do sweat, and get smelly! I provide shower facilities for them at the renovated dairy farm... or, I do not mind if they want to share the mud pond with the pigs!

Nick Allen, CEO of the British Meat Processors Association says that such assessments were incomplete.
''One of the frustrations with a report like this is that it looks just at the emissions from livestock production. It doesn't take into account that carbon gets absorbed into the grassland, trees and hedgerows [on farms]. If they took those sums into account you would probably have a different picture,'' he said.
In response Prof Scarborough said that a number of studies, including this one, had concluded that the taking up of CO2 by grasslands only have a ''modest impact''.
In response a Defra spokesperson said ''people should make their own decisions around the food they eat".
"Achieving the net zero target is a priority for this government, and whilst food choices can have an impact on greenhouse gas emissions, well-managed livestock also provide environmental benefits such as supporting biodiversity, protecting the character of the countryside and generating important income for rural communities."
A spokesperson for the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board said ''AHDB is disappointed to see, once again, a study conveying simplistic conclusions to a very complex topic. Foods fulfil different roles within our diets and therefore cannot be fairly compared by weight, calorie or even nutrient contribution. Limited intake of animal-based foods has also shown to increase nutritional inadequacy, an area often overlooked by these kinds of studies''.
So "Nick Allen, CEO of the British Meat Processors Association", "a Defra (Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs) spokesperson" and "A spokesperson for the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board".
People who speak for organisations that make money off of animal farming are saying that trying to eat plant based is actually bad for you the environment and that we should respect others "personal choices".
"generating important income for rural communities"
The people speaking against them? Scientists.
"But according to Prof Jebb, little has been done to achieve this aim.
"In the UK it is still not accepted that we are eating an amount of meat which is inconsistent with our environmental goals. At the moment, the conversation is not how we are going to do this, but whether it is really necessary," she said."
" In response Prof Scarborough said that a number of studies, including this one, had concluded that the taking up of CO2 by grasslands only have a ''modest impact''.
A separate study also published in Nature Food in 2021 concluded that food production was responsible for a third of all global greenhouse gas emissions. And an independent review for the Department for the Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) called for a 30% reduction in meat consumption by 2032 in order to meet the UK's net zero target."
One side is motivated by money, the other is motivated by data and the environment.
Who do you want to listen to?

Discovering Local Milk Suppliers and Convenient Farm Milk Vending Machines Near You
The Rise of Local Milk Suppliers in the UK
In recent years, local milk suppliers have seen a surge in popularity as consumers increasingly seek natural milk and fresh dairy products with clear provenance. According to the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB), 65% of UK shoppers now prefer to buy milk from local sources when possible, driven by a desire for quality, freshness, and sustainability.
This trend has sparked growth in community-focused dairies, small farms, and co-operatives that supply unprocessed or minimally processed milk directly to customers. The rise of these local suppliers not only supports rural economies but also offers a more authentic taste and nutrition profile compared to mass-produced alternatives.
Farm Milk Vending Machines Near Me: Convenience Meets Freshness
One of the most innovative ways local milk suppliers are connecting with consumers is through farm milk vending machines near me. These machines are becoming common in villages, market towns, and even urban areas, offering fresh milk directly from the farm at any time of day.
Milk vending machines provide:
24/7 access to fresh, natural milk
Contactless payment systems for ease and safety
Eco-friendly refillable bottles reducing single-use plastic waste
According to a recent British Dairy Council report, the number of milk vending machines across the UK increased by 18% in 2024, reflecting rising consumer demand for fresh and convenient dairy options.
Why Natural Milk Is Gaining Popularity
Natural milk, often described as non-homogenised and minimally processed, retains more of its original nutrients and flavour compared to supermarket varieties. It is usually sourced from grass-fed cows on local farms, which improves the milk’s quality and nutritional profile.
Scientific studies have shown that natural milk contains higher levels of beneficial fatty acids, vitamins A and D, and essential minerals. Many consumers prefer this milk for its creamier texture and fresh taste.
In addition, natural milk supports sustainable farming practices by encouraging local production, reducing transportation emissions, and promoting animal welfare.
The Role of Milk Vending Machines Near Me in Supporting Local Farms
Milk vending machines not only serve consumers but also help local farms maintain financial stability by selling directly to the public. This direct-to-consumer model cuts out intermediaries, ensuring farmers receive a fairer price and customers get a fresher product.
Locations for these machines often include community centres, village halls, farm shops, and farmers’ markets, making it easy for consumers to access fresh milk. Additionally, many vending machines now offer other local products such as eggs, cheeses, and yoghurts.
Sweet Treats Vending: Complementing the Fresh Milk Experience
While fresh milk is a staple, many vending solutions now include sweet treats vending options to cater to those looking for indulgent snacks alongside their dairy products. These can range from artisan biscuits and cakes to healthier, locally produced sweets made with natural ingredients.
Sweet treats paired with fresh milk create a perfect combination, particularly popular in school settings, workplaces, and community events. This growing sector blends convenience with quality and supports local bakeries and confectioners.

BTW I started to do the math and see if his plan would even work: ie, are there enough trans women in the UK that they could make up the trade deficit with breast milk, and it turns out THERE'S NOT EVEN A TRADE DEFICIT ANYMORE.
In 2022, when this original conversation happened, the UK had a dairy trade surplus of 26 thousand tonnes.
I am a legend. The human pet guy got his twitter account suspended over a weird trans hucow indentured servitude fantasy of his. He then made another account so I just egged him on to recount it again. It worked. Enjoy the thunder lash of instant karma
