I had a European exchange student who lived with me for a short while. One of her culture shocks was that, I didn't care much about my birthday. It's not in a sad way either; I just go on my day like a normal day, which is pretty common here.
No cakes, no gifts (sometimes. but if not, that's fine as well), no party – you get the point. If I do want to celebrate, I'll just buy myself a burger and a random candle for fun, stuff like that. it is all my choice btw.
This culture shock went on whenever her classmates had a birthday. They were either like, 'cool, thanks,' didn't care, or were shy and tried to ignore that they had a birthday at all. I'm not saying that none of us celebrate; it's just very common for us to not celebrate it as well.
I don't know—she was genuinely surprised about it. So from my perspective, birthdays are a huge deal in her hometown.
And I'm curious,

Hii im from Indonesian I got a little question for you, after playing mushroom oasis and astronought I’m just curious why are you using Indonesian language, mawar : rose and bidadari/malaikat : angel ? Like don’t get me wrong it’s pretty rare (or maybe I rarely saw it) people using Indonesian language as for reference
I also really like the way you make a characters it’s very detailed :0 I very enjoy reading your blog’s
I've never mentioned it but I'm actually from SEA! I don't wanna mention which country specifically but it's easy enough to figure out. It's just for fun and flavor using words from a language I'm familiar with!
And thank you! Part of the reason they're so detailed (I assume you meant in terms of personality, backstory, etc!) is because people send me fun questions to ponder about and it's really helped flesh out my characters!
On a side note, I know I've sprinkled in some Spanish too but sadly I don't speak it. I do think it's a beautiful language, but I hesitate to use it without understanding it properly.
The one full line I've ever used that Atom says in Astronought is from a song (Waltz in E-major, Op. 15 "Moon Waltz" by Cojum Dip), so I assume the phrase is correct!

Enjolras (& Grantaire)
While not really a presence in what i'm usually writing about, I still wanted to design them. Enjolras certainly is more relevant than Grantaire when I'm writing about Marius, though. Sorry !
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
With a blond/..er, frosted tips? Version. Cause I know blondjolras is like canon and all but I'm not sure which I prefer.
Tumblr media
Grantaire's design is still very much in the early stages, and whether it will ever leave them still remains to be seen . I didn't draw him in colour, but he is indeed ginger and taller than enjolras, thanks Kyle Adams! (With credit to Tom Hext)
So! Design details!
My Enjolras is Javanese. Representing this (to the best of my very british ability) is his sarong (the garment around his waist). While not Javanese in essence, Enjolras is not currently living in Java/Indonesia to be able to receive that direct cultural influence. Some batik (the name of the textile pattern) would have had european influence. This can be seen in the design I have created in the branches, which I tried to base on the tree brances seen on the symbol of the French Revolution.
Also on the batik is a fleur-de-lis, and alongside the french flag stipes on the trim, connects the indonesian to the french. Admittedly the addition of the fleur-de-lis doesnt really make much sense considering it wasn't particularly used much after the Revolution, so that might end up getting changed.
The necklace he wears is also javanese in origin - admittedly I should really have looked at a reference as they are NOT made from beads, so that would be an amendment for later, but he wears that also to represent his heritage. It also somewhat symbolises his more fortunate background.
His earring is simply for flair, however since they weren't particularly common, I guess it's him straying from the status quo.
Same goes for the bleached hair - purely to stand out. But I'm not sure if that's a permanent addition to his design yet.
In my first design I had him wearing trousers and shoes, but I've changed it to a pair of boots, as they are more militaristic in nature and practical.
As for grantaire... not much to say. He looks older than his days, a bit bloated, certainly his swollen alcoholic's nose too. Hair's grown long as he's stopped caring about getting it cut and styled at the barber, but hates how cropped hair makes his head feel cold. I'd say that's the situation with his beard too - can't be arsed getting it shaved.
Anyway.... next post will probably be about the old men, don't worry. Just needed to get this out of my system.
Any requests or questions about them or the other amis are totally welcomed - but i can't guarantee i'll have a decent answer past these 2 or courfeyrac. SORRY

Sike. I know I said I will put the princess stickers on hold because I have exams, but that doesn't mean I can't doodle while doing exams!
Physics and Indonesian Language were a breeze, but I got punched and beaten up by History. I didn't realize there were 15 questions and only did 10, I'm SO doomed.
Anyway I drew some Colds and disassociated for a bit cause Idk what else to do :p
And also don't mind the tiny doodle of itsonlypolite's Oppy up there, I drew him without reference and messed up (sob) I'm sorry I failed you, handsome little fella..

GUESS WHO JUST BOUGHT THE "DORAEMON : NOBITA'S NEW DINOSAUR" MANGA?
Tumblr media
That's right, it's me!! 🙂‍↕
I loved the movie so much. Seeing as the Space Heroes manga had some differences to the movie story, I got interested to buy this one.
I don't think anyone has talked about the differences between the manga and the movie yet(?) So, I wanna talk about it! (SPOILERS FROM BOTH MANGA AND MOVIE BELOW)
Disclaimer : note that the manga is translated to Indonesian, so the original Japanese may also have some differences compared to the one that I bought.
The first difference is how the story started: in the movie, our main characters visit a dinosaur exhibition with what seems to be dinosaur animatronics.
Tumblr media
While in the manga, it looks like just a normal dinosaur exhibition. It’s also revealed that Suneo’s dad was the one who got them the tickets.
Tumblr media
Rough translation :
Suneo : "it's so hard to get the ticket to this dinosaur exhibit, but well, my papa still managed to get them from his connections"
This next one is a big difference compared to the movie; the manga already references Nobita's Dinosaur on page 8 by mentioning Piisuke. Nobita even mentions that he wants to see Piisuke again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nobita : I want to meet Piisuke one more time...
The manga also makes Shizuka, Suneo, and Gian's doubts about Nobita finding a dinosaur more understandable. In the movie, he said: "Not a fossil; I'll find a real, living dinosaur!"
Tumblr media
Their reactions will probably raise some eyebrows because Nobita had already found a dinosaur before! So, why are they doubting him about doing it again?
This could only be explained if this movie takes place in a different universe than Nobita's Dinosaur, but the thing is, Piisuke made a cameo in this movie.
(Someone said that the director confirmed this movie took place in a different universe from Nobita's Dinosaur and Nobita somehow got memories about raising Piisuke from his alternate self, idk if this info is real)
Well, in the manga, he said :
Tumblr media
Nobita : " Not leaves! (Earlier, Gian found a plant fossil) I'll find Nobisaurus! A dinosaur species based on my name!
Gian : Interesting!! If you don't find it, what will you do?
Nobita : If I don't find it..I'll eat peanuts with my eyes!
Shizuka : talking carelessly again…
Gian & Suneo : GYAHAHA WE LOOK FORWARD TO NOBISAURUS!
It's one thing to find a living dinosaur and another to find a completely new species. Of course, they will have doubts.
The way Nobita found the dinosaur egg is also different:
Tumblr media
In the movie, while talking to himself about how he'll find a real dinosaur, he tripped on a rock(which later revealed to be a dinosaur egg). As for the manga :
Tumblr media
Nobita : Just look! I'll definitely find....peanuts...NO! Dinosaurs!!
Announcer : We will close the building soon..
Nobita : I..still can..
Shizuka : Nobita, we'll head home first, okay?
Suneo : Next time, I'll bring some peanuts, yeah?
Nobita : My hands are starting to get numb...
Nobita : this...this is it
Next one is Doraemon's reaction to the egg :
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Doraemon : AGAIN AND AGAIN, YOU KEEP SAYING THAT!
Doraemon : There's no way we'd find a Dinosaur egg that often, right??
Nobita : This is defintely an egg!
Nobita : Which is why, Doraemon, bring out the time cloth!
While waiting for the 'egg' to turn, Nobita dreamed of Piisuke 🥹
Tumblr media
Nobita : Piisuke..this time, what kind of dinosaur will I meet?
...and this comment from Doraemon after the egg hatched!
Tumblr media
Doraemon : Still, I didn't think you'd hatch a dinosaur egg again! I'm surprised!
After that, things pretty much went the same; Nobita showed Kyu and Myu to his friends, Kyu and Myu make a lot of commotion, leading to Nobita's mother to come upstairs. They try to hide Kyu and Myu by using the spatial movement crayon, however, the townspeople see Kyu and Myu. Understanding that Kyu and Myu have reached their full size, they should return to their time. Nobita has trouble accepting this, but decides it might be the best option. And so on...
Oh, there's one more addition :
Tumblr media
Nobita : Need my help?
Shizuka : Please look away!
Yeah, okay, probably the only manga addition I don't like.
Also, This is just an interesting thing I noticed about the indonesian translation :
In the old translations, they just made everyone call Shizuka as her name ; "Shizuka" not her nickname "Shizu-chan" or "Shizuka-chan" (which was why I had no idea Shizu-chan was her nickname in the manga)
She also calls Doraemon as just "Doraemon" and not "Dora-chan"
So, I was a little surprised they changed it in this translation :
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They don't include other honorifics like -san and -kun though.

Kishimoto and Naruto VAs for Jump Festa (2010)
On December 2009 the Jump Festa 2010 event took place, Kishimoto made an appearance alongside some of the Naruto voice actors. The event took place when Sakura had already fake-confessed to Naruto but Sasuke vs Danzo battle hadn't happened yet.
This was not a written interview and there is no official video of it, we only know what Kishimoto allegedly said thanks to the recount of some fans who attended the event and posted about it in their blogs.
SOURCE 1
This first source is an Indonesian blog. I'm posting a google translate image, but if any of you know the language and think this translation isn't accurate please let me know your observations/corrections in the comments
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
SOURCE 2 (1) SOURCE 2 (2) SOURCE 2 (3)
This second source is a very dedicated Naruto blog from a Japanese fan, there they're sharing their experience going to the Jump Festa 2010 event in a three-part post series.
First part (it's in first person because that's how it was written)
"We lined up from about 4am and were able to enter the Jump Festa venue just before 9am. To enter, we were divided into two lines, one for viewing the exhibition and the other for purchasing limited edition goods… but the exhibition wasn't that great…
I went to see Kishimoto sensei's original drawings, and they were amazing... The original cover art of volumes 47 and 48, the illustration for the Bunraku (puppet theater), the last illustration of the Pain arc, the page where Konan gives a flower to Naruto in "The Flower of Hope," and so on... It's a shame I couldn't take any photos, but the colors were very beautiful...
In addition, during the introduction of the sensei's atelier, there are rumors that the teacher's pet cat is a tail beast? Is it a model for the two-tailed beast? lol
It seems that the Jump Studio inside the venue was showing the Naruto anime tour. In the hallway, I saw people cosplaying as Naruto and Kakashi from the Land of Iron arc! It was wonderful lol
After this, we will visit the Naruto anime stage and the Jump Naruto stage…!"
Second Part
"I went to see the Naruto Super Stage featuring Mr. Kishimoto! The future of Naruto... Sensei, you're talking too much, you know!
Next year's Naruto is...
Kakashi is the main character!! It seems so.
It seems that the current battle between Danzou and Sasuke will determine Sasuke's future direction. Sasuke's gaze is said to become even more menacing... The relationship with Taka is also expected to become delicate.
Regarding Sakura, she has often been said not to seem like a heroine (some even suggested Hinata as the heroine), so it seems she will show her determination to be a heroine. (Just so you know, in Kishimoto's view, the heroine is Sakura, lol.)
But sensei said that Sakura sometimes uses Naruto's feelings and has some unpleasant traits.
Well, she seems to be portrayed as an ordinary girl without any embellishments.
The voice actor for Shikamaru was asked, "Is there romance for Shikamaru? Sand or something...?" He said, "Well... not yet... I haven't really decided... Shikamaru is the most reliable character in Konoha, and I want him to be Naruto's aide rather than focusing on romance." In a very quiet voice, you said "which one..." but were you referring to Temari and Shiho?
Close aide... That's a sure thing about Naruto becoming Hokage, right? Haha.
In response to the question from Naruto's voice actor, Takeuchi-san, "Will Naruto become Hokage?" "I think he will... but that's for the end..."
Sensei seems to have decided on the concept, scenes, and lines for the ending.
He said that Naruto and Sasuke's battle would be the last...!
I mean... is it really okay to say that?? Kishi?! lol
What caught my attention was "Next year, Kakashi will be the main focus."
Somehow, I can't really expect a bright outcome...
I think it might be related to Sasuke and Tobi, and in the end, Naruto becomes Hokage... hmm.
I wonder if this year will be a year for Kakashi's ninja way...
☆Additional note
It seems that Naruto will also be undergoing training."
Part 3
"I'll upload some more photos from yesterday.
By the way, what I bought at the venue was
Naruto Shippuden Original Soundtrack (Kyōmon Seiji).
I like the soundtrack, but this one is pretty good too.
The sad melody is perfect for the world of Naruto.
A poster of Kakashi Gaiden's Minato Team was included as a special gift at the venue (which was what I was after)"
You can click on the links provided to see the pictures of the venue.
SOURCE 3 This one is not a source from a Japanese person but a lot of fans use it, so I'll include it as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kishimoto uses あいつ (aitsu) when referring to Sakura hence why Takeuchi reacted. Aitsu is genderless but normally used for guys in a very colloquial way (read: not polite). When referring to a guy, it's "that guy" or "he", and to a girl would be something like "that chick" or "she", but of course in a slightly impolite manner.
Kishimoto also uses イヤ (iya) to describe Sakura. Iya means unpleasant; disagreeable; nasty; horrible; disgusting; undesirable; unwelcome [LINK]

Surnames: A-B
It seems many people struggle with finding surnames for their characters. I know i do. I work at a library and live next to a cemetery, and therefore see a lot of unique surnames quite often. I've started writing them down, along with their origins, where they're used, and their meanings, if I can find them.
I'll admit, my criteria for where they're used (called usage) is pretty loosey-goosey. I suggest you check the forebears.io links I provide! I'm not entirely certain of their accuracy, but it's the best i can find without academic institution access or money, and lots of others seem to trust them.
I'm not sure yet if I'll update this list to only be As and Bs or just make As and Bs part two. I'll have to do only a couple of letters every post. I tried to do a lot more names, but Tumblr mobile didn't appreciate how long my draft was and how many links were in it, so this'll have to be split up into a lot of posts.
Languages in this list: German, English, Arabic, Yoruba, Swedish, French, Spanish, Hebrew, Portuguese, Russian, Slovak, Welsh, Polish, Slovene, Scottish, Hungarian, Croatian, Italian, and kind of/maybe Basque, Akkadian, Yiddish
Usage in this list: All names appear in the USA, because that's where I live. I will probably miss some, because there's a lot, but I know I have at least one of: USA, England, Canada, India, Chile, Iran, Tanzania, Nigeria, Chad, Indonesia, Germany, Egypt, Morocco, Lebanon, Sweden, the Philippines, Guatemala, Angola, Mexico, Mozambique, Peru, Bolivia, Portugal, Brazil, Russia, Venezuela, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Switzerland, Romania, Poland, Australia, Jamaica, Hungary, Ukraine, Slovakia, Jews (ethnic group), Italy
Aboff - Origin: English - Usage: USA - This game was likely derived from a centuries-long game of Telephone. It is most likely a variant of Acuff, which is itself a variant of Aculf, which in itself is an anglicized patronymic surname derived from the Old Norse forename Agúlfr, which means "terror wolf." - Forebears / Aboff FamilySearch (You can access the page for Acuff via this page, which I also used for reference)
Agosin - Origin: unknown - Usage: Chile, USA - Can't find much on this name. A Chilean-American writer and feminist by the name of Marjorie Agosin is likely the most notable person with the name, and her Wikipedia page was the only other site with useful info that I could find. - Forebears / Marjorie Agosin
Amos - Origin: Ancient Hebrew - Usage: Tanzania, Nigeria, Chad - Taken from the forename Amos, meaning "load," "burden," or "burden-bearer." The name derived from the Biblical figure Amos, who is one of the twelve minor prophets in the tanakh (or Old Testament, if you're Christian). - Forebears / Behind the Name
Angkasa - Origin: Chinese, Indonesian - Usage: Indonesia - A more Indonesian-sounding version of Chinese surname Hong. Indonesia has a pretty sizeable amount of ethnically Chinese residents. Hong means "flood, big, great." The forename Angkasa (also Indonesian) means "sky, space." - MyChinaRoots / Behind the Name / Forebears
Angleberger - Origin: German - Usage: USA - from Middle High German word "angel," meaning "angle" or "hook," and "berger," a topographical surname used by those who lived on or near mountains and hills. Despite its origin, it's pretty much only used in the USA. The spelling "Angelberger" is more common in German-speaking countries. - myheritage (name meaning) / forebears
Ansari - Origin: Arabic - Usage: largely India (Hindi, Marathi), Iran - term for people who recieve and help migrants. Derives from the name the Prophet Muhammad gave to the people of Medina, who helped when him and his companions had to flee Mecca. - forebears / Wikipedia (Ansari)
Appelt - Origin: Possibly Dutch - Usage: Germany - Likely a place name related to Apeldoorn, a city in Holland. - Forebears / House of Names
Arceneaux - Origin: French - Usage: USA (Louisiana) - Variant of Arsenault, a version of the name that remains much more common in Canada. Either means "one who was in charge of the arsenal," or a habitational name derived from someone who lived in Arcine, in Haute-Savoie, a department of France that resides in Normandy. - Forebears / Forebears (Arsenault) / House of Names
Ayoade - Origin: Yoruba - Usage: Nigeria - "the joy of the crown." Spelled Ayọ̀adé in Yoruba. - Forebears / Yoruba Names
Ayoub - Origin: Arabic - Usage: Egypt, Morocco, Lebanon - Form of Job, from the Bible. - Forebears / Behind the Name
Axelsson - Origin: Swedish - Usage: Sweden - means "Son of Axel" - Forebears / Behind the Name
Babbitt - Origin: English - Usage: USA - Likely a surname derived from a given name. Could be Babb/Babba, typically a diminuative of Barbara, or from Bobbitt, a variant of Middle English personal name Bobbe. - Forebears / Behind the Name
Badua - Origin: Philippines, likely Tagalog or Ilocano - Usage: Philippines - Likely a name originating from the Spanish colonial period, when usage of surnames became mandated. Used commonly in a region where Iloko/Iloco/Ilocano is spoken, so I would wager it's either that or Tagalog/Filipino. One site uses the explanation that it comes from badu, the Tagalog word for "bush, shrub, small tree," but that doesn't make sense, because there are several Tagalog words for bush and small tree and that is none of them. The closest I can find in Tagalog/Filipino at the present moment to badu is baduy/badoy, which means "lame, out of style, tacky, uncool." In Ilocano, the word for clothes is closest: baduan. - Forebears / MyHeritage / Tagalog.com / Ilocano Dictionary (only linking the dictionary sites I used because I will meet my link limit much faster if I link every single word I tried. For the record, I tried bush, shrub, small tree, and badua in both dictionaries).
Bagnold - Origin: English - Usage: England, Jamaica? - Likely a place name denoting someone from Bagnall, a township in Staffordshire. - House of Names / Forebears
Baltazar - Origin: Hebrew, Akkadian - Usage: Angola, Mexico, Philippines, Mozambique, Peru, Guatemala, Bolivia, Portugal - From given name Baltazar. Traditionally a name assigned to one of the three wise men who visited the newborn Jesus. A variant of Belshazzar, who, in the Old Testament's Book of Daniel, was the last king of Babylon. This variant means "Marduk protect the king," with Bal/Ba'al being a name for Babylonian god Marduk. Over time, it's become a more generic "God protect the king," or "God protects life." - Forebears / Behind the Name: Baltazar (if I were to individually link every page I used, I would run out of link space much quicker. Luckily, every page I've visited is able to be accessed from Baltazar. Starting on Baltazar, go to Balthazar, then to Belshazzar, then Bel. Bits and pieces were used from each page.)
Balcarcel - Origin: Spanish - Usage: Guatemala - Variant of Valcarcel, which is a habitational name coming from any of the places in modern day Spain named Valcarcel. The place name stems from val (valley) and cárcel (prison), in this case "prison" meaning a narrow or confined space, like a narrow gorge - Forebears / Ancestry
Barinova - Origin: Russian - Usage: Russia - means "descendant of a boyar," which was a person that was in the highest rank of feudal aristocracy in many Eastern European countries, including places that would later become Russia. (Note: the only source I can find for the meaning of this surname is a user-submitted reference on Forebears. I don't know how accurate it is). - Forebears / Wikipedia (Boyar)
Baum - Origin: German - Usage: Germany, USA, Jewish people - means "tree" in German, although one source claims it actually comes from a shortened form of "Schlagbaum," a tollgate. - Forebears / Behind the Name
Beckhorn - Origin: German? - Usage: USA and like 1 guy in Thailand - can't find much! It's a pretty rare surname. Could possibly be an Americanized version of Bockhorn, which is a place name for a hamlet in Northern Germany named Bokern, OR combination of "boken" (Low German for "birch tree") and "horn" (Low German for a steep hill). This is all conjecture, though. I have nothing to go off of except that they're similar sounding names from Germanic languages. Fun variants: Beckhorne, Bieckhorn, Beckorn, Bockhorn - Forebears (Beckhorn) / Forebears (Bockhorn)
Beltz - Origin: German - Usage: USA - Occupational name for a tanner of hides - Forebears / Behind the Name
Benedis - Origin: Latin? - Usage: USA - Likely from Latin "Benedict," meaning "blessed." Again, conjecture. - Forebears / Wikipedia (Benedict)
Benko - Origin: Hungarian, Croatian, and/or Slovene - Usage: USA, Slovakia, Ukraine, Hungary - a user on forebears.io states that it comes from the given name Ben, with the diminuative suffix -ko added later on. From there, it went on to become a surname. They say the Hungarian name "Ben" can come from Benjamin (son of my right hand) or Latin Benedict/Benedek (blessed, or "be good"). Note: in Hungary, it's more likely to be spelled Benkó. - Forebears / Behind the Name
Benoist - Origin: French/Languedoc - Usage: France - May derive from the family of Saint Benoît d'Aniane, which is a name with a lot of regional variants, including Benoit, Benois, Benoie, Benoyte, etc. - House of Names / Forebears
Bertman - Origin: ? - Usage: USA - The USA has the most people with this surname by far, but countries with high amounts of/historical Jewish and Orthodox Christian communities also use it. I can't find many good statistics on the name, though, or a meaning. - Forebears
Betancourt - Origin: Spanish, Portuguese, technically French - Usage: Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Mexico - Used throughout Latin America, with those three being the highest. A Spanish and Portuguese cognate of the French "Bethencourt," a place-based surname derived from the Norman (Northern France) feudal holding of the same name. - Forebears / Behind the Name
Biberdorf - Origin: German, Yiddish? - Usage: USA, Canada - Means "beaver village," from "biber," which is beaver, and "dorf," which translates to village or hamlet. Interestingly, the majority of Biberdorfs in the USA are Republican (72.55%) while nearly that same percentage of Bieberdorfs in the USA are Democrat (74.19%). Conclusion: woke is stored in the E - Forebears / MyHeritage
Bigelow - Origin: English - Usage: USA - Means "dweller on or near the barley hill" or "one who came from Baguely," which is the name of several places in England. It seems that the vast majority of Bigelows came to America, as there are 15,578 with the surname in the USA and only 34 in England. Canada is the only other place with Bigelow numbers in the thousands, at 1,603. - Forebears
Billingsley - Origin: English - Usage: USA, England - Likely a place name, denoting someone from Billingsley, a parish in the ceremonial county of Shropshire, in England, bordering Wales. - Forebears
Binks - Origin: Northern England and Scotland - Usage: all English-speaking countries, but mostly England - There are plenty of theories, all of which conclude that it came from the Scottish/Geordie dialect of a different surname. Ideas of what that different surname would be varies from Bank(s), Bilk(s), and Bing(e)(s). Although it came from England and most of its usage is there, the name appears quite a bit in the USA and Canada and has incidences everywhere in the Core Anglosphere (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland), USA) - Forebears / Behind the Name
Birchall - Origin: English - Usage: English, Australian - It's agreed upon that this is a location name. Not much else is agreed upon. One source says it's from Birtles, in Cheshire, England. Another says it's from Birchill (birch-hill), a place in both Derbyshire and Staffordshire. A third says it's from Birch Hall, as in a hall of birch trees, and a fourth says it's from Bircholt in Kent. - Forebears / Behind the Name
Binns - Origin: Northern England and Scotland- Usage: England, USA - Although it is mostly used in England (5,933) and the USA (5,702), it is also used in Australia (1,564), Jamaica (1,417), and other places in the Core Anglosphere and Central America & Caribbean to a lesser extent. The name is thought to come from southern Scotland (Roxburgh/Linlithgow/West Lothian) and Northern England (Yorkshire/Lincolnshire) as a place name (as in, a town called Binns) or a patronym, from Anglo-Saxon names similar to it (Bynna, Binna), or a patronym derived from the Dutch (Flemish) Bins or German Binas. One source claims the Scottish name and the English name are unrelated. - Forebears
Bird - Origin: English - Usage: Anglosphere - The animal. Usually derived from being nicknamed "bird" for having birdlike qualities (i.e. good at singing, big nose, etc). Another source is likely an occupational surname for one who raised or hunted birds. One guy named Henry Barber claimed that it's derived from words in other languages, which, like, I guess? - Forebears / Behind the Name
Birdsall - Origin: English - Usage: USA - Either "of Birstall," a village parish in Yorkshire, or-- wait. Wait what. Someone's created an entire website for this last name. Okay. Well. In the Domesday Book, which is a record of the Great Survey done at the request of William the Conqueror, the town was called Briteshala, which is anglo-saxon for "Brid's sloping land." The land was then gifted and leased to a series of owners, and along the way it slowly became called Birdsall. Those from Birdsall took the surname "de Bridshalle" and later de Birdsall, which then became just "Birdsall." - birdsall.ca / Forebears
Birney - Origin: Scottish - Usage: USA - There's also a good amount of people with the surname in Ireland, England, Canada, and Scotland (not much in Northern Ireland), but by far it's the most used in the USA. It's not a super common surname, with forebears.io recording just 3,040 people with this surname worldwide. It is a place name and comes from a parish in Moray, Scotland. It was first Brennath, then Bienach, then Branach, then Byrneth, the Birne, then Byrny. The Gaelic form is recorded as Mac Biorna. The more Irish version is Bierney, but it only has 44 bearers. Beirney is the variant most used in Canada - Forebears / Behind the Name
Blakemore - Origin: English - Usage: USA, English - either from "Blackmore/Blackmoor" (black + moor) or "Blakemore/Blakemeer" (white + moor). Either way, it's a location name. - Forebears
Bledsoe - English or Slovene - Usage: USA - Either from a town in Bedfordshire or a lake in Slovenia. - Forebears
Blejwas - Origin: Polish - Usage: Poland - Also used in the USA, although the incidence is less than half of that in Poland (236) at 112. I can't find any listed meaning. - Forebears
Bloor - Origin: English - Usage: English - Either from a parish/township in Staffordshire or an occupational surname for a blower. I'm going to assume glass blower. - Forebears
Blevins - Origin: Welsh - Usage: USA - Despite being derived from the Welsh word for "wolf," this surname gets the majority of its usage in the USA. In fact, 98% of all Blevins worldwide (recorded on forebears.io) are in the USA. I suppose it makes sense, since theoretically Welsh people would be much more likely to have the Welsh version of the name, Bleddyn. - Forebears / Behind the Name
Bolivar/Bolívar - Origin: Basque, Spanish - Usage: Venezuela, Colombia, the Philippines, Spanish-speaking nations - from Bolíbar, the name of a small village in the Basque region, which lies in northern Spain and southwest France. It was then picked up by Spaniards, which they spread to their colonies. It remains more popular in their former colonies, with 1 in 10k Spaniards carrying the name today. - Forebears (the page for Bolívar is similar to that for Bolivar, except with less incidence, so I'm just sharing the one) / Behind the Name
Bondor - Origin: ? - Usage - Romania - There are many different versions of Bondor, making it hard to pin down an origin and meaning. It's used the most Romania, followed by Hungary then the USA. - Forebears
Booraem - Origin: ? - Usage: USA - a rare surname with an incidence of only 77, all seeming to be in the USA. - Forebears
Borba - Origin: Portuguese - Usage: Brazil - likely a location-based surname, deriving from either Borba, a municipality in Portugal; Borba DOC, a Portuguese wine region; or Borba, Amazonias, Brazil. - Places named Borba / Forebears / Behind the Name
Brallier - Origin: French - Usage: USA, one singular person in Canada - not used in France anymore. An occupational surname for one that made belts. - Ancestry / Forebears
Bramucci - Origin: Italian - Usage: Italy - Possibly an occupational surname coming from Italian "brama," one who yearns. - Name Census / Forebears
Brauner - Origin: German (Lower Saxony) - Usage: Germany - Patronymic form of Brun(o), Braun; Term denoting a follower of the Brunones, a dynasty of medieval Lower Saxony; habitational name for one in Brauna in Saxony or Braunau in Austria; Ashkenazic Jewish form of Brown. - FamilySearch / House of Names / Forebears
Briner - Origin: Swiss German - Usage: USA, Switzerland - Habitational surname related to Brin in the canton of Grison (Graubünden) or from the Brin valley. I would also go out on a limb and suggest that it could potentially be a occupational surname for one who brines, which is a form of preserving food. However, that may not be a specific thing and would potentially fall under Fisher or Cook. Could also be an American form of the German Breiner. - Behind the Name / FamilySearch / Forebears
Bruchac - Origin: Slovak - Usage: USA, kind of Slovakia - The form Brucháč is more common in Slovakia. Likely means "one who growls like a bear," or bru- (meaning brown, bear, or bruin) plus -chac, meaning person. - Joe Bruchac Blog / Forebears (Bruchac) / Forebears (Brucháč)
Brumbach - Origin: German - Usage: USA - habitational surname for any of the numerous places names Brombach in Germany. Also used in Germany but to a much lesser extent. - FamilySearch / Forebears
I have unfortunately run out of link space! The last two will be presented without direct links:
Budhos - Origin: ? - Usage: USA - likely a form of Budho, a surname found the most in Pakistan and India. One theory is that Budho(s) originates from Punjabi, a language spoken in the Punjab region of India, which is in the northern/slightly west part of the country. I have found no recorded meaning for either Budho or Budhos (besides "probably occupational"), and the relationship between the names remains just speculation. - https://forebears.io/surnames/budhos / https://lastnames.myheritage.com/last-name/budhos / https://forebears.io/surnames/budho
Bunzl - Origin: Austrian German or Slovak - Usage: Austria, USA - This one is interesting. It's probably one of those that shows where language borders lie in relation to country borders (which themselves were different when this surname started appearing). According to forebears.io, Bunzl, in that form, is mostly used in Austria (80), then USA (39), then England (22), and all the way down to multiple countries with just one. Nowhere is Slovakia mentioned. But there is a company called Bunzl that claim they originated in what is now Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. However, at the time, it was a part of Hapsburg Monarchy of Austria (the city was called Pozsony). There is also an author (who I believe I got this name from) that says it is from the Slovak side of his family. His grandfather was Jewish and went from Vienna, Austria, to England, but his family was Slovak. It's possible that it's an Austrian spelling of Bundzel, which has incidences in Slovakia. Either way, I can't find a meaning for it. - https://school.teachingbooks.net/pronounce.cgi?pid=2538# / https://forebears.io/surnames/bunzl / https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bunzl

Could I ask a review for the good old fish boy Relicanth
Tumblr media
Relicanth is a coelacanth, no big surprises there. Much like the IRL animal, it was considered extinct for many years before being rediscovered and hasn't really changed at all in a hundred million years. I really like that it's found out in the wild but is still water/rock, meaning that it shares the secondary rock typing of most fossil 'mons.
Tumblr media
It's a fairly plain Pokemon, but the big thing it has going for it is its grumpy old man face. It's a pretty subtle element in the grand scheme of things, but it is fun to have it actually look as old as it is, and it adds a bit of flavor to an otherwise straightforward design.
Outside of that, the brown coloration both reflects its rock-typing but also references the Indonesian coelacanth's color. As an added bonus, its shiny is blue, referencing the West Indian Ocean coelacanth.
Tumblr media
Beyond that, Relicanth also has the weird feature of a random red dot on it. I don't mind adding some extra color, but the way it's just stuck there with no real rhyme or reason is strange. I've heard people claim its body is a map to the regis, but I've never seen any supporting evidence for this, and given that nothing in the 'dex mentions a map I'm not terribly inclined to believe it, though that would be a neat idea.
I think Relicanth's biggest problem is just that it's fairly forgettable—it's not a 1:1 of a coelacanth but it's pretty close, and between it being fairly monotone in color (save for the aforementioned red dot) and non-evolving there's just not a lot to really make it stand out.
But then again, you couldn't have it evolve, give it a regional form, etc. because the entire point is that it hasn't evolved in 100 million years. It's probably the only Pokemon where being a straightforward one-stage Pokemon is basically part of the theme itself.
Tumblr media
So overall: it's a coelacanth, all right. If you like silly old man faces and like coelacanths, you're going to love this guy.

Each version of Mr Scratch and what they smell like - Scratch and sniff, if you will.
Okay so because I am So Normal about Scratch, the other night I was wondering what he smells like, and more specifically, what each games' version of him smells like. Now the obvious comes to mind with versions like AW2, who is covered in blood and dons a biker jacket- he smells like gore and leather. But at the mall I did some literal sniffing around some different men's fragrances and have come up with a list of what each version of Scratch would smell like in terms of cologne, as well as extra scents (such as the aforementioned blood and leather). Here we go!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AW1 Scratch
Tumblr media
(Sorry, had NO good pics of him)
The smells, generalized: a warm and spicy cologne, freshly printed ink on paper, the woods, cold air.
Tumblr media
We don't get to see much of Scratch in AW1, as he's introduced in the ending, but its DLCs do give us more. However that freshness, that just-created copy of Alan, makes me feel like he would not only smell like- very subtly- freshly printed ink on paper, but also whatever Alan may have worn as a fragrance combined with a genuine forest scent of pine needles, dirt, etc. as well as cold air. As for Alan's fragrance and therefore Scratch's, my cologne for AW1 Scratch is...
Gucci Guilty Por Homme. This fragrance is described in this way: A woody, aromatic, ambery fragrance that magnifies the true essence of [the fragrance's] signature. A new and intense vision of masculinity, [the fragrance] opens with a lighter, milder, and more modernized aromatic hook. The true essence of [the fragrance] is magnified at the heart with the deep ambery signature of Spanish cistus combined with the floral richness of orange flower and a spicy hint of nutmeg. Finally, the mysterious elegance of Indonesian patchouli is reinforced with the long-lasting sensation of dry woods and musks. The fragrance family is "warm and spicy," and the type is considered "woody spices."
I feel this vibe fits Alan, at least in the first game, perfectly. If you've smelled this scent, you know what I mean. It's the smell of a man who has enough money to blow on expensive cologne, yet it somehow remains a humble scent, if one can apply that word to a smell. Though this is said of Alan by Scratch in AWAN, not AW1, "you've got money, fame, but you don't know what to do with it!" In my mind, this is translating back to Alan as a successful writer but still a relatively normal dude, and this scent just fits the vibes. Like yes I have enough money to buy Gucci cologne, but I'm not gonna shove it in your face. Likely only wears it in a very very light way. And because of AW1 Scratch being a fresh copy of Alan, he would wear this scent too. He hasn't developed enough of his own self yet, not like he has by AWAN, so I imagine he smells like Alan does.
To recap: AW1 Scratch smells like Gucci Guilty Por Homme because that is what Alan wears (in my mind) and he is a fresh copy of Alan, yet to develop his own scent tastes. He smells also of the literal woods, as Alan likely does from his "adventure." The smell of fresh ink on paper refers to the vibes of being a "copy," and of words being typed with a typewriter's ink. Cold air refers once more to his freshness and lack of real self- it's like he's hollow, and when he enters the room it turns, and smells, cold, like a winter night.
Tumblr media
AWAN Scratch
The smells, generalized: a versatile, charismatic, elegant cologne, hair gel, freshly pressed clothes, Campari.
Tumblr media
Scratch has developed his whooole own personality by the time we see him again in AWAN, and therefore has also developed his own taste in fragrances. We know damn well this man is spending good money for good cologne- after all, it's Alan's money that he's taking and using for anything he wants, why not spend an extra bit to smell good? Also, his insanely gelled hair, he's got some hair gel smell on him too. His clothes are very nice and neat (when they aren't bloody) and he often straightens them up, so I'd assume they are freshly pressed and ironed and starched and all that, which you can smell. Campari is not confirmed to be the drink AWAN Scratch has, but considering it is the drink of Tom Zane's choice and his similarities to AWAN Scratch, let's say it is. It's the same color, anyway. It looks the same. He has a faint smell of it on him when he's been drinking. As for Scratch's fragrance, my cologne for AWAN Scratch is...
Montblanc Legend Spirit. This fragrance is described in this way: Discovering a breathtakingly fresh woody aromatic territory, this cool and confident scent blends energizing citrus with intense cardamom and lavender, settling on a sensual woody base. [The fragrance] is a powerfully modern scent designed for a passionate man who yearns to explore new horizons. The fragrance reveals a more casual side of the [designer] man while maintaining the same versatility, elegance, and charisma of the original. It's style is also said to be versatile, charismatic, and elegant.
A passionate man yearning to explore new horizons? Is that not exactly what our dear AWAN Scratch is doing? Sure, his yearning is more like obsession and his new horizons are horrifying, but it still fits. It's said to reveal a casual side but maintain the same elements of the original- Scratch reveals to us his silly, playful, campy side through his tapes and dialogue, but we must remember the original elements of him being an evil bastard. Scratch's versatility in murder and in methods of fucking up Alan's life fits that bit (I will not stoop to making sex jokes). AWAN Scratch is dictionary definition charismatic, the man could charm me out of my clothes just by looking at me. And elegant- Scratch seems to want to appear groomed, clean, neat. He dresses nice, in a suit. I suppose that's elegant enough.
The vibe I got smelling this for the first time hit me straight in the face as AWAN Scratch's smell. It's the smell of that nicely dressed, weirdly charming man you happen upon somewhere in passing. A party, a store, the street. And who knows, maybe that man is a super natural serial killer too? This is a very very charming scent, the vibes are off the charts correct for Mr Scratch.
To recap: AWAN Scratch smells like Montblanc Legend Spirit, because that is a charismatic and charming cologne if I've ever smelled one. The vibes are just off the charts Scratch coded. His hair gel is also probably fragrant, he uses so much of it you'd probably smell it if he got relatively close to you. Freshly pressed clothes get a spot as not only a vibe but a possible applicable smell, as we see Scratch straighten up his clothes and try to look put together, his clothes must be ironed and taken care of. And finally, the Campari- it's not confirmed that's what he drinks, but in my mind it is, and when he does drink, you get a faint hint of it off him.
Tumblr media
AW2 Scratch
The smells, generalized: earthy and woody cologne, leather, blood, hotel soap.
Tumblr media
By AW2, Scratch has been defeated once, and now, he's just pissed off and wants the Clicker. In every instance we see the man, he's disheveled, and has at least some blood on him somewhere. The other two have to do with Scratch possessing people- the leather from Jaakko's jacket, and the hotel soap as the vaguest, barely there little note you can only smell if you get close enough to, say, kiss him. Which I would. Anyways, that's from Alan freshening up at the lodge, and if we count him possessing Casey, I'm sure he's also been using that soap. I'll elaborate later on what I mean by hotel soap. For now we will see something else. My cologne for AW2 Scratch is....
Burberry Hero. This fragrance is described in this way: The vibrant freshness of bergamot is invigorated with juniper and black pepper and deepened with a heart of cedarwood—a new man, a new hero. Discover [the fragrance], the new [designer] masculine spirit that explores freedom as modern heroism. [Designer's] vision of modern heroism is challenging the stereotypes of masculinity and empowering man to transform and find the courage to embrace who he truly is—to become extraordinary. It's classed in the scent family "earthy and woody" and the scent type is "citrus and woods."
I smelled this and I immediately pictured the colors associated with AW2 Scratch- black, dark brown, deep red. I picked up on a vibe I thought fit him pretty quickly, and this was one of the last colognes I smelled, too. I thought I'd have to settle for one I didn't really think fit him, but then this one fixed that. The earthy and woody description fits for a man who crawled from a lake in the middle of a forest, and the vibes of transformation, embracing your true self, and becoming extroardinary?? All Scratch coded. He wants to transform Alan into himself, or vice versa. He really seems to embrace that raw, visceral, angry version of himself in AW2. And to have the clicker, to be God essentially, is that not extraordinary? The style this stuff goes for is what Scratch goes for. Plus my synesthesia vouches for it.
To recap: AW2 Scratch smells like Burberry Hero cologne, because the vibes are just absolutely applicable to him, and even just smelling it in person I saw his colors. He also smells like leather because, well, poor Jaakko's jacket is now his, and I know for a fact Jaakko takes good care of that leather and it smells great. Blood is obvious, Scratch is constantly covered in it, and if you've never truly smelled blood, like a room covered in it...trust me, you don't wanna. Just take my word that it smells like a sweeter version of rusty metal. And hotel soap, I will now elaborate: you know the little soaps you can get at hotels, how they all smell exactly the same?? Alan definitely freshened up at the lodge, and Casey had been staying there so he likely used it too, and I feel Scratch carried the ever so slight hint of it if you got really really close and he didn't like. Bite your face off.
SO!! That was a lot of work, research, and headaches from sniffing a bunch of cologne for a good thirty minutes. Plus some other stuff that I think fits the Scratch versions. If you have any comments or other ideas of what they may smell like, please reply here or shoot me an ask!! And yes, comments about how unhinged this post is are welcome too.

Every time my Indonesian friend say "aku cinta sama dia" (I'm in love with him)
I keep thinking that she's madly in love with you (bc you're dia... But in Indonesia "dia" means she/her/he/him basically when referring to another person or something)
so I kinda go "KAMU CINTA SAMA TEMANKU YANG NAMANYA DIA???" (YOU'RE IN LOVE WITH MY FRIEND NAMED DIA???)
she gets confused bc she doesn't even know who you are lmao
Idk I just kinda wanna tell you this
I don't even know if you see me as a friend or not tbh
I hope we can see eachother as good leveled friends, your work is admirable
also even if that Indonesian friend knew who I was & actually was inlove with me they wouldn’t be the only one 😼

(disclaimer: not an expert on linguistics or etymology, just playing around with dictionaries)
Suppose humanity were to join the Galactic League of Sophonts. What would be the official name of our species? Hopefully the GLS will respect endonyms as much as possible, but the English word "humankind" won't do (I'm assuming English as de facto lingua franca of Earth; not a fan of that but it is what it is): alien species aren't going to have a local translation for "human", and most probably won't be able to pronounce Earth languages. So we need to find a way to translate "human" into roots as planet-neutral as possible.
Now, the English word human comes, via Latin humanus, from Proto-Indo-European *ǵʰm̥mṓ, which in turn was derived from *dʰéǵʰōm, meaning "earth" or "ground" (humanus could be interpreted as the adjectival form of humus, though in fact the two words derived independently from P-I-E). A suitable English-based but planet-neutral translation for "humans", therefore, could be Those of the Ground. This is also the case for all Latin-derived languages.
What of other major languages? I'd have expected for Hindi to have similar lines, and Hindi manuṣya मनुष्य looks a lot like humanus, but from what I find it seems unrelated, and comes from manu मनु meaning either "man" (with an unanalyzed P.I.E. etymology *mon, from which also "man") or "thinking, wise". Our Hindi-based name is The Wise Ones.
Russian čelovek челове́к comes from a Proto-Slavic word translated as "child of a clan", in turn from two P.I.E. roots *(s)kelh- and *kʷel-, translated respectively as "group of people" and "to travel/roll around". Our Russian-based name is The Wandering Tribe.
Arabic ‘insān إنْسَان is a nominalized from verb ‘anisa أَنِسَ , which I see translated as either "to perceive/comprehend" or "to be comfortable/enjoy". I assume the first meaning is the relevant one: our Arabic-based name is The Understanding Ones. (Though The Comfortable Ones is also nice.)
Hebrew adam אָדָם also seems related to the ground, though indirectly: the Proto-Semitic root *dam means "blood", and hence refers to red things, such as clay or human bodies. Our Hebrew-based name is The Red Ones ("The Bloody Ones" wouldn't be very diplomatic, though our fellow sophonts might not have the same reactions as us. EDIT: But "The Bloodied Ones" would be different still, and probably fairer to the language.)
Chinese rén 人 is of unclear derivation; I see the main Proto-Sino-Tibetan candidates are *snaj "nearby" (in the sense of "relatives") and *s/k-niŋ "heart/mind/kindness", via Old Chinese nyin. I will pick the latter and assert that our Chinese-based name is The Kind Ones.
Japanese hito 人 runs into a wall: the Proto-Japonic etymology *pitə also just means "person". However, there is an alternate word ningen 人間 of Chinese derivation, which sends us back to the previous.
Swahili mtu is in a similar position: its Proto-Bantu source *mʊ̀ntʊ̀ means either "person" or "someone". However, Swahili also adopted binadamu "son of Adam" from Arabic, so I guess the choice is between the Arabic or Hebrew name. Similarly, Turkish got insan from Arabic.
Indonesian orang, intriguingly, is said to come from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *uʀaŋ, meaning "outsider". Our Indonesian-name based, The Outsiders, comes ready-made. (Indonesian also got manusia from Hindi and insan from Arabic, so if aliens decide to land on Java on account of being the most densely populated major island on Earth, we're set with names.)

A sequence of events
Jacksfilms tries to guess movies by their Letterboxd reviews Youtube video
References Zootopia shrew Godfather scene
Remember that Judy met the shrew in a neighborhood marked "little rodentia" despite shrews not being rodents
Search what order shrews are actually in
It's Eulipotyphla. What else is in it? Moles, hedgehogs, solenodons (already knew solenodons). Moonrats?
One genus of moonrats is Hylomys, that's from Greek for tree top mouse, which is neat. What are some of the specific names?
Macarong from Vietnamase for vampire. Now I need to know about Vietnamese vampires.
The English Wikipedia page for vampire has Ma cà rồng listed as its Vietnamese counterpart
Etymology of Ma cà rồng deeply unclear; ma is demon, but cà rồng is confidently listed as different things in different Wiki sources: Vietnamese Wikipedia connects it to Indonesian for mountain, English Wiktionary connects it to a Tai Dam word not translated directly but showing its cognates all mean cage or prison, and Vietnamese Wiktionary connects it to Khasi for rib. None of those things connect and I've learned of two ethnicities.
Afflict Google Translate upon the Vietnamese page on vampires, dreading any possible inaccuracies
A quote from some book says: vampires act like humans during the day, being a servant and doing normal things, but at night they stick their two big toes into their nostrils and fly off to be a demon and drink women's blood as they give birth. Then they come home, put their feet in a bucket of water, take their feet out of their nose, and turn human again. The human doesn't remember what they were doing that night
What was that about the toes?
That's the phrase Google Translate spat out, "two big toes into their nostrils", which is to me both insane and visceral. This cannot be right
By a repetitive process of deleting parts of the sentence and seeing how it affects the meaning, identify the role of each word and run through Wiktionary to verify translation; it checks the fuck out.
Xo hai ngón chân cái vào lô mui would be "insert two finger leg big in hole nose" if xo had a little sideways semi circle on the o, lô had a tilde on the ô, and mui has a tilde on the u. My phone's keyboard has limitations
Fuck it keep reading. Boring stuff about European vampires that I already knew, oh goody more Vietnamese specifics! This guy says vampires have red foreheads and a lot of white in their eyes!
Wrestle Google Translate and Wiktionary in order to attempt to decipger what "a lot of white in their eyes" means. The literal translation appears to be eye much core white. The word for core can also be heart? What is it doing there? Dead end
Says it goes to its grandmother's house? More wrestling. Mistranslation of "midwife", back to women giving birth
South East Asian folklore is deeply concerned with pregnancy. I've learned this. I've learned this in my research
Says their nostrils are extra big to fit the toes. Also says they grab their ears in their hands when they fly off?
Wrestling ole Goog Transl and Wicker Shenary again. Tay xách tai - hand pull ear. Xách tai is actually an example sentence for xách, in the meaning of pull up (derogatory)! So yeah
It is roughly 1:30 AM.
Start writing this post
It is 1:52 AM.
None of this has anything to do with mountains prisons or ribs btw. Or shrews or Jacksfilms for that matter
I woke up at 8 today
I'm so hungry

Note
what are ur fav nobishizu moments in canon? :)
OHHHH thank you for this ask
Man I could rant for hours.
It's been a while since I read the manga, so I'm just gonna mention some moments from the anime(mainly 2005, since it's so hard finding 1979 episodes)/movies :
(These are in no particular order)
(Movie) - Nobita's New Dinosaur
We all know what's the moment I'm talking about. I'll never shut up on how much I love this scene.
Tumblr media
When I watched this movie (just a month ago, a few days after Sky Utopia brought back my doraemon obsession), I was NOT expecting to be given nbsz crumbs. I wasn't even as big of a shipper as I am now LMAO. This moment hit me so hard that I became a shipper.
(Movie) - Three Visionary Swordsman
I rewatched this movie just yesterday. It was so funny when disguised Shizuka met Nobita as the silver swordsman and said :
Tumblr media
Blunt Shizuka is funny.
(The subtitles are a little off, but it's the only one I could find)
But well, then she saw him being doubtful on killing the dragon.
Tumblr media
"You're so kind"
Let's all remember that one of the things Shizuka wanted in her romantic partner is that they're kind:
Tumblr media
Source : 2005 anime episode 128 - Shizuka's present is Nobita
Tumblr media
Source : Shizuka's character song "the princess next door"
So....
Tumblr media
😁😁😁
The ending scene was also really cute
Tumblr media
(Movie) - Stand By Me 2
Alright, confession time : I have a love-hate relationship with the Stand by Me movies. Younger me loved Stand by Me 1, so much. Mostly because of the Doraemon-Nobita bond. Adult me(as in, now) definitely has more opinions about it though.
As for Stand by Me 2, I kinda hated it on first watch. But now, well, not so much.
But this post is not about criticising Stand by Me! Sooooo...pushing aside everything, I loved the scene with adult Nobita and adult Shizuka at the end of Stand By Me 2.
Tumblr media
Shizuka looked so happy here...
(2005 anime) episode 128 - Shizuka-chan's Present is Nobita
Shizuka treasuring the handkerchief that Nobita made for her...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I looped the ending scene over and over because it's just too cute...(especially with the instrumental of the song "the princess next door" playing as background music)
Tumblr media
(2005 anime) episode 249- I don't like Shizuka-chan being like this!
Another one of the 2 Shizuka birthday special (that I saw) with a common theme : Nobita making a present for Shizuka and it kind of sucks but since he made it himself, she loves it anyway.
Tumblr media
(Everyone else had mistakenly called it a jar, and she's the only one that correctly refers to it as a vase, Shizuka is truly a gem 😭)
(2005 anime) episode 373 - Nobita's bride
Since there's two versions of Nobita's Bride in the 2005 anime, I'm referring to the 2014 one here.
Tumblr media
One of the things that's lacking about nobishizu is definitely Shizuka's perspective. So, it's nice to see what she thought of Nobita.
(2005 anime) episode 245 - Nobita's night before wedding
Although I love the 1999 version of Night Before Wedding so much more, this version has this cute (and a little corny) moment :
Tumblr media
Also, the way Nobita didn't even think twice to cover for Shizuka, even though he had to embarass himself?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(2005 anime) episode 124 - Goodbye to you
I love it when there's scenes that remind us how Nobita is one of Shizuka's closest friend and vice versa. Shizuka is not just Nobita's 'future wife', she's his friend. For me, they're best friends first, lovers second. With Nobita thinking that the what-if telepon booth was actually broken, their emotions are genuine here. Nobita must have really regretted ever messing with the booth...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(this ep gave me an AU idea where Nobita actually did move to America lmao, it's being written somewhere in my notes app)
Tumblr media
I love the 1979 anime's version too, especially since the animation is so much better. However, I couldn't find the episode with english (or indonesian) sub anywhere 😭
Tumblr media
(2005 anime) episode 71 - Conclusion Yarn
I know the way Nobita is using the Conclusion Yarn to basically force Shizuka to be pulled to him is kinda...hmm. But well, he got a lot of consequences (dragged everywhere by the gadget, getting beaten by Gian)
So, it's kinda poetic how, in the end, Nobita doesn't even need the Conclusion Yarn to make up with Shizuka.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(They don't need gadgets to connect them since they're already connected guys🥲)
Every moments in the 1999 Nobita's Night Before Wedding
Tumblr media
How did they make adult Nobita so cool in this special?!?!!?!?!? modern writers pls take notes
ALSO, as I said in my nbsz fic, it's so cute how everytime Nobita found something fun to do, his first thought is to call Shizuka and invite her to have fun with him. His love language is probably quality time.
(I only have clips from the movies, but there's a lot of example in the show/manga too)

I'll have to end it here because if not, you guys will never hear the end of it. I love the both of them so much I literally procrastinated my math assignment to write this askdnjofcjsoij (even though Nobita does annoy me a lot sometimes, but well, he's ten)
These are just some of my favorites, I still have 28 movies and hundreds of episodes left to rewatch so I'll definitely found more moments that I love.

ramiz kieran at your service— raki would do.
blessed to cross somewhere over 20, please address with they/he when refer to me.
as for interests, the holy trinity always kept my soul ablaze; walking, reading and watching. for sure, music also runs deep in my blood (may i add that writing in leisure time also an important event of the day?). anyway, i adore poems, especially indonesian's. yearning session wouldn't complete without bringing hozier's whole discography to the table as well with ethel cain's sun bleached flies.
honorable mentions to: the poppy war trilogy, babel, jazz, omniscient reader's, fleabag, nbc hannibal, yellowjackets, and much more (see that i'm too lazy to listed the a-b-c, you may take a peek at my letterboxd and literal club to satisfy the cat's curiosity).
i didn't drew certain line to limit myself to interact nor to talk so please be kind to your surrounding.
ps. i delight any talk on direct message if it's could keep you company, or just wanted to. please do not hesitate to reach me out though you must pardon me if i tend to response a tad bit late. :)
