idk if this sounds weird or not but. why does some mainland chinese actors & actresses have english names when they havent spent any time outside mainland china + they arent from hong kong or taiwan...? like, wang hedi's english name is dylan wang, huang jingyu's english name is johnny, meng ziyi's english name is zoey, etc.

its just smth ive found really interesting bc even in the variety shows' eng subs, theyll use the english name rather than the chinese one despite the ppl speaking calling them by that govt name.
