honestly it's probably super obvious from my constant narrative parallels posts that i find dipper's similarities to stan so much more interesting than his ones with ford lmao
#i think its the way dipper's intelligence is intended to be portrayed as like. grounded.#alex mentioning that mabel could get his grades with the same amount of studying if she had the same level of motivation#(of course i grumble a bit at ttp and ddmd for trying to make dipper even more of a brainiac)#his blindeye confession that he tries to act smarter than he really is is more fascinating for his character#but dipper's motivation comes from the rush of high grades and praise#which mabel likely doesn't feel and rather spend time on her interests#and there's the contrast of stan and ford not being like that ya know? of things genuinely tending to click into place for ford fast#altho that doesn't change that stan is a master of the hyper specific field of multidimensional physics/engineering#via sheer force of will and determination... and unfortunately a lot of time :(
