do you. do you see the vision.
it's less freaky than what i would've liked, but one freaky fact is that this fusion... has more "pelvises" than it does "ribcages?"
ofc, they're not actual pelvises and ribcages since comet/the fusion doesn't have actual bones, but - and some quick SOS/comet lore - The Oort Cloud's original mission wasn't to just create an organism from scratch that could multiply remnant, their mission was to recreate a specific creature that could - a giant spider dubbed Atmata, discovered in the early 1900's. Atmata was originally a human woman killed years ago, but was transformed into a giant freaky flesh spider by being combined with Agony and the spiders that begun to call her corpse Home. She developed the ability in order to be able to sustain her enourmous size by multiplying her caloric intake without changing the amount of food she ate. She just figured out how to duplication glitch food and super rich dude named Vincent Collier lol observed the phenomenon and as an ameteur student of Remnant he was like "oh, learning how to do that might be helpful to advance my research instead of killing a gazillion people." So he hired a giant team of scientists, killed Atmata for an autopsy, and the secret to doing so (alongside a bunch of stuff that Remnant can do like make you immortal or turn you into a god if you mix it with this spooky black Agony tar) was figured out.
Problem. Atmata is now dead, and the process was only able to be carried out by living organisms. Cloning was attempted, but you need living cells to get the DNA for that. Fuck. So for literally over a hundred years they tried and miserably failed to recreate Atmata and her abilities - it was only after a partnership with Fazbear entertainment for funding is when they tweaked the design to be Music Man themed and to use it to prey upon the audience that Fazbear Entertainment provided (I mean, fazbear ent's known for their machines killing people and getting away with it, this is a real opportunity considering The Oort's product needed to eat humans for this).
That last minute tweak is why Comet is a Music Man yet so different from Music Man ( peculiarities like his size and lack of legs), and why I count his abdomen to be a pelvis, since as he's supposed to mirror Atmata, it really is a modified pelvis. Therefore the fusion has... 2 "ribcages" but 3 "pelvises." Sorry for the massive ramble just to get to here.
This is old, but she hasn't gotten redesigned, so it's still how she looks. BOO ATMATA (body horror) JUMPSCARE 👻
#ntls-24722#....do i tag this as djmm?#i mean. Comet is a DJMM. but#.#???#djmm#dj music man#(almost) daily music man#Comet#Fritz#loredump episode!!!#digital

i used to read ameteur writing critiques when i was younger (i, foolishly, thought i could just learn what not to do and then id suddenly be good at writing) and anyway since the rise of cinema sins-esque style of critique, one of the main threads is always that the work can't have too many coincidences or sudden revelations that come without foreshadowing. apparently in realism the only things that happen are the things you already think are likely to happen, which is bullshit, in my humble opinion. something nobody tells you about life is how often something just fully comes out of the left field
recently-ish i had an event at work where i had to host this old, big name priest who wrote a book abt how evil commies killed his two uncles for working in the german army during ww2. let that sink in for a moment. he never once utters the word nazi but the implications are looming. anyway, it also just so happened that the weekend before that i was poked and prodded into going on a trip with my father & for the lack of anything to talk about (my father is, unfortunately, like a former roommate to me. every time we speak he has to cycle through every female name in his family before he lands on mine & i keep forgetting his birthday) i ended up talking about work. for reference, i work at a catholic bookshop and its not particularly impressive to anyone irl, not even to me. its the perfect conversation topic when you want someone to leave you alone
but then. then. it casually turned out that my non-religious, no-apparent-inner-life father somehow knows every single big name priest in the country. the nazi nephew guy? yeah he scammed his cousin and stole money from his community, theres a bloodline feud with him. oh the exorcist that keeps publishing books? they also have a feud, he used to run the church in front of my dad's store until he was chased off. that one guy that got banished to germany for throwing a fashion show runway inside a church as a way to gather relief funds? you guessed it, el padre knows him too because he literally bought proof of holy communion from him for himself and my mother so they could have a catholic wedding (for some reason. though neither of them is religious). he also attempted to buy it for my sister and i but alas. the ban has already happened by then. literally where did any of this come from. any person that i mention from work, my father seems to have some kind of either beefy or straight up criminal history with. none of that was ever alluded to whatsoever because until recently i thought his social life boiled down to my mother. in a completely unprecedented turn of events we now have a topic we can discuss & he has even occasionally started calling me to chat which he has never done, ever. i cannot stress how this development happened out of nowhere in my 23th year of life simply bc i made a throwaway rant abt someones nazi uncle, related to a job i got randomly on a whim. so yeah bottom line, critiquing how realistic a plot development is based on some mental math abt how likely it is to happen irl is just dumb. irl is full of things you'd never consider likely to happen and yet.
#hopefully none of this is identifying information abt anyone involved bc for work reasons i probably shouldnt shit talk priests 🫡#however. its very funnny to me. like what do u mean u tried to buy proof of communion. who does that

Midnight - A Development Story
Hello people of the internet,
My name is Kyle Tanirau, and I am an aspiring Game Development Student.
This Devblog is designed to show off the process that is undertaken when developing a video game. The game in question is Midnight.
Midnight is meant to be an immersive player experience, where the player gets lost in the woods, and then finds their way back to civilization.
My team and I are knee deep in the development process already, currently working away on assets and code.
This Devblog will be updated weekly, maybe even more often.

WEEK 5 : WHAT IS DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP?
Social media has become a generation's medium for public discussion, for creative freedom and political engagement. The 2010’s issued in a new era - ‘the era of social media’ (Enli, G., 2017). With this new era brought new social constructs, and new rules to follow. The concept of digital citizenship has flourished in this Internet age. Digital Citizenship refers to the interpersonal citizen participation that occurs in digital spaces (Vromen, A., 2017). Networking, interactive online conversations, and sharing of information via social media are all functions of effective digital citizenship, and allow for political engagement (Vromen, A., 2017).
Political engagement via social media has changed over time. The 2015-2016 election period was a pivotal point in time for the evolution of social media (Nelimarkka, M., Laaksonen, S., Tuokko, M., Valkonen, T). Facebook and Twitter became major sources of information, and were instrumental in the success of political campaigns.
Facebook quickly became the place for formal campaigning, whereas Twitter became the place for users to find information and share concerns. As different social media platforms become vessels for different forms of communication, the discourse that plays out becomes platform-specific and limited by brand identity, user expectations, and the functional limitations of the chosen platform (Chia, A., Keogh, B., Leorke, D., Nicoll, B., 2020). The election cycles of the 2010’s quickly developed Facebook as the place for socio-emotional displays and the marketing of political ideas through the lens of true ‘authenticity’ and the validation of a blue tick (Nelimarkka, M., Laaksonen, S., Tuokko, M., Valkonen, T., 2020).

This was demonstrated perfectly in the 2016 United States elections - which saw millions of users flocking to social media to find political information, and interact with politicians directly rather than through traditional media (Enli, G., 2017). Both presidential candidates used social media to connect with voters. Hilary Clinton even announced that she was running for President via twitter (Enli, G., 2017). Donald Trump's electoral success was a result of his ameteur-esque authenticity, as well as his critique of the bias in traditional news sources. His Presidential win heralded a new era of de-professionalism that is still a major part of successful political campaigns today (Enli, G., 2017).
Platformitisation like this, often results in us overlooking independent, entrepreneurial, fringe communities for the comfort of the constraints of singular platforms (Chia, A., Keogh, B., Leorke, D., Nicoll, B., 2020). This extends to our discussions of politics, and political campaigns on social media which can exploit the social rules of certain platforms to garner support from constituents.
Despite this challenge to democracy, some political organisations have taken to social media to connect more authentically with constituents and translate those connections into real political change (GetUp!, 2017). GetUp! Ran multiple successful political campaigns in 2017 in response to the same-sex plebiscite, robodebt threats, and climate change. Get Up! harnessed the political and social scope of social media to engage with the Australian public through online organising and storytelling (GetUp!, 2017) to mobilise digital citizens.

Okay so I just went on youtube to get some writing tips to improve but like???
I gave up after 2 videos because it was relaying basic English that you learn in primary school some girl passing off skills that often just require more practice as ‘ameteur’ rules you shouldn’t break.
Honey, lemme tell u smthn, telling young writers that skills that they should maintain and develop are something to be avoided and replaced with choppy as fuq basic writing skills is horrific. If you doon’t know how tou utilize those skills and then proofread your work with the ability to understand where you could possibly make the flow and overall read easier than you’re the ameteur.

Hiveswap Review (Spoiler)
We’ve been waiting an awfully long time for the Homestuck Adventure Game. First kickstarted in 2012, it’s gone through a troubled development cycle between 3 studios and.... yeah, you get the drift. Even in its final form, Hiveswap has gone through numerous unexplained delays (most infamously the last minute January Launch Month delay), and the development team for it had been very tight-hush until the end of August when a final release date of September 14th was announced.
Now that Hiveswap is out, we’re able to see for ourselves what the development team has been working on. Does it hold up to expectations? Does it make up for the hard delays and extremely concerning lack of communication?
Those are answers you can only decide for yourselves. What I will say, however, is this: Hiveswap is a charming and visually stunning introduction to the Homestuck world, that combines only the best of Homestuck’s humor with a new calmer, more curious and coherent setting.
It’s a shame, then, that the content of Act 1 isn’t a little bit longer. However, the gimmick of combining any item with each other and getting a new description will draw out the length for any lore completionists.
Before I start gushing about my feelings on Hiveswap, I’d like to point out something that REALLY soured the game for me: The cutscenes have a processing power so high that most laptops - including my own - aren’t able to handle them. I don’t understand this, because a 2.20ghz processor can handle the game like a breeze. I’ve had no trouble running Hiveswap. But as soon as a cutscene plays, it ends up taking a processing power that would burn a computer which can play Overwatch. What’s going on here? Why are cutscenes like this? Is it something to do with the Unity engine? Surely another user has figured out how to compress scenes without losing their quality!
So, I had to watch the game be played in its entirety by @neproxrezi, only returning to my own game to test out as many combinations as possible.
To make this easier for myself, I’m going to split off Hiveswap into a few categories:
Story and Characters - Hiveswap Act 1 is extreeeemely short, like 27 minutes long if you do an ameteur speedrun. On the surface, not a lot happens, but it serves as a compelling introduction to the Hiveswap world. You start off as Joey Claire, a young dancer of multiple schools with a hatred for pogs, Bubsy, and her entire life circumstances. Joey works with her brother to hide from a bunch of monsters that have invaded their home. Shenanigans ensue, mostly pigeon-related, and using Jude’s cryptic advice Joey figures out how to retrieve the attic key. Once in the attic she uses a precious heirloom key, which looks suspiciously Cherub-like, to open a SNAKE PORTAL..... Joey is transported to the world of Alternia where she meets a self-loathing rustblood of the bottom rung of society called Xefros, and explores the house of his controlling and paranoid Revolutionary moirail Dammek. Then Joey gives Xefros some words of encouragement and saves him with the help of Dammek’s lusus, then they ride into the distance while dodgy heiress Trizza Tethis takes a selfie over the burning neighbourhood. It’s all pretty basic, but a natural stopping point and setup for act 2 that makes me devastated I can’t go and play it immediately.
When you dive deeper into the game, usually by clicking on everything you see and combining as many items as possible, you can learn a lot more about these 4 characters. Joey in particular gives the audience plenty to think about once you start messing around with her; combining the green Cherub key with items will often leave her reminiscing about her absent mother, and clicking on Jake’s items strewn all over the place will show how she resents his constant absence fom her and Jude’s lives. There’s plenty of information about Rose’s mom, too, who’s their drunken babysitter and.... even now, not the best stand-in for proper parenting. I’ll talk about these two more later but it makes me curious about their circumstances in Homestuck. Meanwhile Joey and her brother Jude aren’t as close as they could be. Joey’s alarmed by how cryptic and secretive Jude is, wrapped up in his conspiracy capers, and she has great difficulty undertstanding him or having a normal conversation. This is highlighted when she assumes he wouldn’t have any care for his mother’s heirlooms if they didn’t have anything to do with aliens, and when she unlocks the Cherub portal despite his warnings because he never told her of its dangers. Joey does think about this distance between her and Jude, especially when locked on the new world.
Xefros, meanwhile... everything you click while in Alternia - whether as Joey or as Xefros - will usually have information about Dammek. Xefros is clearly used to being messed with by Dammek’s "tests” and revolutionary spiel , which seem to be a more extreme and warped version of Jude’s conspiracy capers. Inspection of his house will paint a picture of Dammek as having a very cluttered mind, hyperfocused on his goal without seeing any of the world around him or understanding the needs of his puppydog moirail Xefros. Now, Xefros himself is extremely passive and will do whatever other people tell him, which is kinda Tavros-like but more extreme. He doesn’t have any care for what happens to himself so long as he’s impressed those around him, and it’s not until Joey tells him how cruddy this is that he gets slightly relaxed and more optimistic. It’s ironic to see how Dammek and the Alternian revolutionaries end up falling into the same heirarchy that they strongly oppose. It shows the Revolution might be a joke, one of many others the Highbloods have quashed before.
As for Jude..... I wonder what’s going through that boy’s head? We barely saw him and yet he made a strong impression of his personality.
Gameplay - Hiveswap doesn’t have any “gameplay” in the traditional sense, unless you count the snake game. Instead it has a series of puzzles. They aren’t very difficult, but it’s more the funny dialogue you can read while playing. I’m gonna talk more about the humor in a few seconds, but the way you can combine any item with any other item must have taken soooooo much time from the writers, especially Cohen Edenfield. I wonder if this was always going to be the case in the original game too?
There’s not really any failstates for hiveswap. You can get eaten by monsters if you dick around on your way to the attic after the big fight, but you’ll just respawn where you were before. It’s not a game I’d choose to “play”, exactly. It’s more of a visual novel.
Humor - Oh boy. This is where Hiveswap wanted to nail it so, so bad. And its effort was valient to say the least. Joey’s dancing was some visual feel-good humor, all the 90s gimmicks in her room (especially the not-so-subtle videogame posters) had me clicking on them with every item i could find in the house, xefros in his entirety was a well of dark humor that pushed the game’s atmosphere back to its homestuck roots, and Byers - so true, so brave - he is the best item in the game. The funniest scenes for me were the Pigeon sequence with Jude, and Joey’s acrobatic pirouhettes away from Dammek’s terrifying lusus :P
I do have some criticisms for the humor. While combining everything with everything is a lot of fun, it’s not necessarily... funny. Like I didn’t get a lot of laugh-out-loud moments with the combinations. Often I found jokes were either too long-winded beyond their expiration or the punchline was just very awkward. This is a small criticism considering no other games bother to do this, but considering hiveswap act 1 is just an hour long if you DON’T do this, the game’s padding could have been more entertaining to say the least. counting on this gimmick when the humor isnt the best in the world, it’s a veeery risky move.
Graphics - okay, let’s put this out there: hiveswap without a doubt is one of the most visually stunning indie games out there. It recruited the help of many artists from the fandom itself, like adrienne garcia, angela sham, dammek the tumblr user, rah-bop, shelby cragg... For the most part the game looks great. The drawings on the short panel-based animations look wonky sometimes especially when compared to the beautiful opening animation, but it’s a small criticism.
This has convinced me that the move from 3d to 2d has seriously benefitted Hiveswap. I mean, look at this:
then look at this:
it’s a whole WORLD of difference. I seriously do not think Hiveswap would have made a good impression if it had released in the crappy-looking state the 3D studio had produced it in. The game would have not looked like homestuck, and not been able to pull off any of the animated feats in the final product. Why were they going with that art style in the first place??? It was a waste of time money and effort. I guess that the 2D team was slowly constructed over years of producing homestuck flashes and paradox space content? Many people key to the current team were in high school in 2012.
Music - Led by James Roach, he worked closely with Toby Fox to really nail Hiveswap’s soundtrack. It’s short and loops an awful lot but I never found it boring or annoying to hear. It’s quieter and more subtle than Homestuck’s loud, rambunctious music, but each character has their own theme and leitmotif. The music changes to create a good atmosphere for each room. It’s not the best work from either artist, but it’s very good as a videogame soundtrack.
Dedication to the source material - While Hiveswap has adapted away from Homestuck’s crude humor, I feel it keeps the best and throws away the worst. Hiveswap being E10 rated made some people suspicious because of how sweary and dark Homestuck is, but Hiveswap has already shown its guts and some very effective dark humor. I wonder if Act 2 will have the same rating?
While the atmosphere in Half-Harley Mansion isn’t the most Homestuck in the world, Joey’s introduction is a nice homage to how all homestuck characters are introduced. And.... you can’t ignore the insight it gives into Jake and Roxy. More specifically, Grandpa and Mom.
So, it’s revealed in Hiveswap that Jade’s Grandpa had a wife and two kids before encountering her. What does this say for Jude and Joey’s situation post-hiveswap? Did he lose his two kids, and decide to build a new life in the pacific with Jade? Did he see her as his second chance? It sort of puts a damper on John’s comment that Jade’s ‘pa seemed happy living alone, and Dave’s comment that Jade’s ‘pa was a clearly loving father. As it turned out, ‘pa severely neglected his own kids after the death of his wife, probably because they reminded him of her. But maybe Jake lost his two children and decided not to make the same mistakes with Jade? That’s why he took her to the island with him instead of siccing her on Roxy again, although Roxy had her own hands full. Yeah, talking of B1 Roxy, it’s quite interesting to see how she had changed between Hiveswap and Homestuck. Joey saw Roxy in a very different light to Rose; she saw Roxy as very kid-like and sincere, but extremely negligible due to her drinking. Most notable difference is how Roxy here obviously hates cleaning, but by the time she mothers Rose, she takes perfect care of their house. I wonder if this is another effect of Jude and Joey’s theoretical departure from the mansion? If, like Jake, she saw Rose as a sort of second chance? It’s a shame how that turned out. Yknow, im gonna laugh and cry if it turned out Jude or Joey killed Ana Claire with guns as a baby, like Jade and Jake before them
As for Alternia it was chocablocked with references to Homestuck, from the hierarchy to the Condesce to Doc Scratch to FLARP. Yeah, this is when Hiveswap went from an adventure game to a Homestuck game. I haven’t got much else to say here other than that I’m excited to see how Alternia differs from our impressions of it, and how the infrastructure of the peter pan society works.
and, of course, it had the best possible refrance:
CONCLUSION: Hiveswap has shown its guts to the world, and made a positive impression. I’m disappointed by how short it is, but that’s only because I want more.
Idk what’s going on with all the bugs such as the resolution glitch or the cutscene processing, especially cos Hiveswap went through an extra 9 months of “bug testing”.... wouldnt most people have gotten this bug the first time they launched the game??? wouldnt they have noticed the cutscene fuckery? these glitches have resulted in many people getting refunds. the only reason i didnt do the same is because i want to support this game, and i want to play it again in the future when the bugs are fixed or i have better hardware.
hopefully hiveswap act 2 won’t be followed around by the same issues, same lack of communication, same lengthy development that act 1 has suffered. if it comes swiftly, and if hiveswap act 2 makes as good an impression as act 1, then I feel we’ll have something truly special on our hands.
Story and characters: 4 hats outta 5 - short but sweet
Gameplay: 2.5 hats outta 5 - glitchy and contentless with no fail state, but this isnt necessarily a bad thing Humor : 4 hats outta 5 - sometimes missed the mark but a great chuckle for any player, fan or noob Graphics: 5 hats outta 5 - e c s t a s y Music: 4 hats outta 5 - does the job, does it well Dedication to source material: 4 hats outta 5 - best of the old, best of the new.
FINAL SCORE: 8/10. All it needs is to finish, then it’s already better than Homestuck...

The Best Examples of Content Marketing in 2019
This is going to be the intro
1. Knock Down The House
Who made this awesome content?
Rachel Lears for Netflix
What is it?
A documentary following first-time candidates through the 2018 US congressional elections. But it’s become a wonderful piece of content marketing for Alexandria Ocasio Cortez.
Why did it make our list of the best content marketing examples of 2019?
Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (AOC) is a political phenomenon. Arguably the biggest positive political news story in the US so far this year.
This is a 29-year-old bartender with no experience of politics. Not only has she been elected to congress, she’s already taken centre stage on hot button issues from the minimum wage to climate change. She is a superstar on social media and is for many of the face of the resurgent left in American politics.
The Netflix documentary wasn’t originally just about AOC. Naturally, the editing and marketing make it look that way in a bid to cash in on AOC fever.
youtube
For us, this is an excellent example of content marketing. It is not a political ad. It’s entertainment. But it gets AOC – and by extension, the Democratic Party – access to a large and potentially useful audience.
Some people who watch Knock Down The House will be AOC fans. Others will be curious about this bright, young, camera-friendly underdog who is shaking up the political establishment. Party strategists will be hoping she can appeal to some of the working class voters who backed Donald Trump in 2016.
Netflix is famously secretive about viewing figures so we can’t tell you how many people have watched it. But the company has significant reach with 150 million subscribers worldwide. Just under 2 million of those are in the US.
AOC has a growing influence on social media. And while US elections aren’t yet won or lost on Instagram there is some evidence of a Netflix bounce for her follower count.
AOC has more than 3.5 million Instagram followers. In the days leading up to the release of Knock Down The House she was adding around 3,000 per day. That jumped to more than 12,000 per day between May 2nd and May 4th.
What are our takeaways for content marketers?
Don’t worry. You don’t have to run for public office and star in a Netflix documentary to be an outstanding content marketer.
Streaming services like Netflix have helped to bring about a renaissance in documentary film-making. Political documentaries, like the excellent Weiner (2016), have found a bigger audience as a result.
What Knock Down The House does for AOC is use great content to capture attention. People who watch it will learn more about what she’s like, what she believes and how she carries herself. If they like what they see they might buy what she’s selling. Or at least notice her when she’s selling it.
Content marketing for your brand works in exact same way. What content will get the attention of your audience? Can you make content or at least insert yourself into it?
Find your equivalent of a well-made and spookily-timed political documentary. And swap Netflix for the social media site or ad platform that has the best access to your target audience.
2. Premier League Finances
Who made this awesome content?
David Conn for The Guardian
What is it?
A full rundown of the 2018 financial results of the 20 football clubs in the English Premier League.
Why did it make our list of the best content marketing examples of 2019?
Content marketers know that before they create a piece of content they need to ask themselves an important question. That is: how do I make this content better than what’s already out there?
In one of his best known Whiteboard Friday videos, Moz founder, Rand Fishkin challenged content creators to go 10 x better. His 10x content mantra stated that the only content worth creating had to be 10x more valuable to readers than the current top ranking pages on the same topic.
One of the ways you can outdo the competition is by working harder. We believe this article is an excellent example of how putting in the time to create an original piece of content can cut through the noise in crowded markets.
Whether or not you like football you’ll be aware that few topics generate wuite as much commentary. It’s not easy to get your content noticed with so much competition.
Rather than 400 words of unanimously sourced transfer gossip, David Conn has put in the hard yards. He’s picked his way through the accounts of 20 multi-million dollar businesses. He’s pulled out salient and easy-to-understand headline numbers.
With the help of one The Guardian’s designers he’s brought those numbers to life with some simple graphics. And then he’s provided insightful analysis to put his data in context. Here is an example:
You can read the article here.
What are our takeaways for content marketers?
David Conn’s article is a great example of how extra research time can steal a march on the competition. Whether your content is aimed primarily at Google or your readers, proper research and planning are essential.
Content marketing is about offering value. You create something your audience wants. You give it to them for free. And you get their attention and hopefully their interest in return.
To create real value you need to invest time and effort. Putting in the work to do original research will help you find a unique angle on well-covered topics. This makes your content stand out and gives your audience a reason to engage with it.
Original research will also produce content you can reuse and recycle. If we stay with our example from The Guardian it’s easy to think up ideas for infographics, videos and follow-up articles off the back of that work.
So while reading a pile of financial statements might seem unappealing, when it’s done it can drive a whole series of valuable content pieces. Look for those opportunities in your niche. Do the afternoon’s work your competitor isn’t prepared to do.
3. Catching a Catfish
Who made this awesome content?
James Oaten for ABC
What is it?
The exclusive story of how women who thought they were in online relationships with TV actor Lincoln Lewis had in fact become victims of a Catfish-style scam.
Why did it make our list of the best content marketing examples of 2019?
The first thing that caught our attention was the layout and formatting. This isn’t a new story. It’s a one-page website.
It leverages the skills not just of writers, researchers and editors but also graphic designers and web developers. In fact it credits no fewer than 11 contributors at the end of the piece.
The result is a user experience that’s clearly designed specifically for this story.
The photos and video stills that are essential elements appear behind the text using parallax scrolling.
The texts and tweets that highlight some of the most sinister aspects pop up as you move down the page, as if they’re being sent in real-time.
This and the style of writing are designed to draw the reader in and keep them scrolling down the page.
The time and effort that went into this piece of content is quite something.
But it was a big story and one all of ABC’s rivals would have covered in some detail.
The challenge is always to stand out and get noticed. To offer more value than the competition.
ABC has certainly achieved this with an innovative and immersive piece of content. It remains the top result in a Google search for “Lincoln Lewis catfish”.
You can check it out for yourself here. Keep reading until the end.
What are our takeaways for content marketers?
Our takeaway from this is example is the power of teamwork.
To do content marketing really well you need to be able to draw on a range of skills. When we build content marketing campaigns for our clients we need account directors, strategists, project managers, writers, editors, designers, animators, social media specialists, paid search experts.
And while you don’t need all of those skillsets for every piece of content, combining some of them allows you to be much more creative. Your ideas can be more ambitious when you have talented people to make them a reality.
Remember the goal is to create the best resource for a given topic. That isn’t just about ability of your writer. Creating best in class content is always a team effort.
4. Chasing Kipchoge
Who made this awesome content?
BBC Sport for Instagram
What is it?
Clever animated content showing how an Eliud Kipchoge marathon compares to that of Mo Farah or an ameteur runner.
Why did it make our list of the best content marketing examples of 2019?
How do you know if someone has run a marathon? Don’t worry, they’ll tell you. And so they should. It’s 26 miles and 385 yards of pure hell. Months of dieting and training followed by one of the most gruelling physical experiences outside of childbirth.
But Eliud Kipchoge makes the whole thing look easy. This freakishly talented long-distance runner set a new world record at the London Marathon in April this year. This man can run 13mph for 2 hours straight. He makes Mo Farah look a bit slow.
The challenge for content creators in the wake of Kipchoge’s achievement was to find a more interesting way to say: “this guy is fast”.
We think BBC Sport absolutely nailed that with this piece of content for their Instagram feed:
View this post on Instagram
A post shared by BBC SPORT (@bbcsport) on Apr 28, 2019 at 2:26am PDT
There are two reasons why this example made our list of the best content marketing of 2019.
First of all, the creativity. Instagram is made for biteable video content like this. And it’s an excellent way to present the material.
Second is the personalisation. More than 40,000 people took part in this year’s London Marathon. This content was aimed primarily at people who had competed in the race, who had previously run a marathon or who knew someone taking part.
By comparing Kipchoge’s performance to Mo Farah (most famous active British marathon runner) and 3hr, 4hr and 5hr runners it makes a personal connection with as many of these people as possible.
Making your content marketing personal is not just a good way to get it noticed. It also increases the chances of people engaging with it, remembering it and looking favourably on your brand as a result of it.
What are our takeaways for content marketers?
Find a way to make your content personal for your audience.
User personas are one of the first steps in building a content marketing strategy. User personas set out who you’re targeting and what actions you want them to take.
User personas should also help you keep your audience at the heart of your content marketing campaigns. Before you write a blog post or create some content for social media you should think about you it’s aimed at.
A common mistake even experienced marketers make is to let their own preferences and bias influence their creative content. Even perfectly good content ideas can be undermined by this problem.
You should ask your what are the particular elements of this piece of content that my audience will care about? What spin can I put on this to make it more relevant to the people I want to ultimately sell to?

Welcvome to Sonias;s Henna services
I offer Henna Beauty Services that are personalised to create stunning designs that will compliment you and your overall look. The Henna packages I offer are tailored to your individual requirements, which can be discussed when you book your one to one free consultation. This gives you, as well as me the time to discuss your ideas and my professional input to create your unique custom-designed Henna.
Once the package has been chosen, you then go onto book a trial. The trial offers you the chance to sample a part of your chosen design so you can see it come to life, which in turn gives you total confidence in me. This will also incorporate your patch test, which is an essential part of the trial as it will determine any skin reactions you may have. However, I must stress this is very rare, as I use 100% pure and natural Henna.
I also use glitter gels and Swarovski crystals to accessorise your Henna design to give it that glamorous touch. I especially recommend this if you are having professional photos taken. Alternatively, you can just opt for glitter gel Henna art, which looks just as dazzling whatever your occasion. My custom-designed Henna art is not just limited for the bride and her family, I also cater for engagements; pamper parties; fashion shows; photo shoots; charity events/fairs and exhibitions
WHAT IS HENNA Henna is made from a small flowering shrub called Lawsonia Inermis. The name Henna originates from the Middle East, it is also known as ‘Mehndi’ which is the Hindi name. It is native to Asia and the Mediterranean. Henna is pure and natural used for therapeutic purposes. The plant that it is derived from also has holistic properties. Henna has long been used as a body art and a cosmetic since the times of the Egyptians.
Cosmetically, Henna nourishes, conditions and revitalises the skin and also the hair when used as a hair dye. The scented leaves are the parts of the plant that are used to make the Henna powder. The leaves are dried, which are then grinded into a fine powder. Eucalyptus oil and water are then added to make a smooth paste which is then applied onto the skin.
Henna stain looks like a tattoo except the process is safe and painless, not harmful to the skin and is not permanent. It is a natural dye that stains the skin from an orange to deep red colour. Henna stain can last up to 14 days. The colour intensity of the stain from the Henna depends on the part of the body it is being applied to. Lighter stains will be the product of applying the Henna to areas on the body that have thin skin. Conversely, thicker areas of skin will yield a darker Henna stain. Many cultures practice the art of Henna. It was and still is primarily practised to decorate the hands and feet of a bride for her wedding day. In the western world, it is fast becoming a fashion accessory, a fashion statement. It is no longer simply a tradition for the bride and her family. Henna now extends from this culturally revered application, to the one that I now endeavour to offer to anyone who is interested.

Not enough market research
twitter 2As entrepreneurs it’s easy to fall in love with an idea about how well your products are going to sell. Just build a better mousetrap and they will come. Well, in the online world that’s like waiting up all night to catch the tooth fairy. It’s just not going to happen.
Most entrepreneurs start an online business with the belief that their idea is going to be worth millions right out of the gate. But if you do the market research and look at the facts, you might discover that your idea is not going to work. In this case it may be better to ditch the idea in the planning phase than to waste time and money trying to make it work.
When you are doing market research make sure your find multiple people selling something similar to your product. That’s proof that other people have made it work and you can to.
Next, you need to visit their site to sign up for their email list and buy their product. Take note of the different products they offer for sale in their funnel.
Once you have this research together you will better understand the market dynamics and what you’ll need to have in place to compete successfully with them.
Not focusing on 1 thing until it’s done
Now that you have your market research done and have proof of concept that there is a healthy demand for your product, you need to focus on creating the product until it’s done. That means 100% done, not 99% done. As online entrepreneurs it’s easy to get side-tracked by bright shiny objects that are designed to make you part with your hard earned money. You can’t sell anything until you get it done. Don’t try to do multiple projects at once because it will just slow you down. Plus, you only need to have one front-end product completed to build your business.
domainNot using your own domain
You can’t judge a book by its cover, but you can judge an online business by its domain name. A lot of entrepreneurs will be pound wise and penny foolish by using a free hosting account or a shared domain name. That’s a sure sign of an ameteur. Your domain is your storefront. Make sure you have a self-hosted domain that reflects your business. Plus, the right domain name will inspire confidence in your buyers.
Not building your email list from day 1
The life blood of your business will be your email list. Think of them as your own tribe and you are their fearless leader. It’s up to you to lead them to whatever results you or your products deliver. Never be afraid to email your list because you know you are providing value.
Make email list building your first priority as soon as your site is live. I would suggest you use Aweber for your email marketing. They have a crazy deal where you can get 30 days free. Even if you don’t have your products ready for sale, still get an email form to capture emails on your blog.
Not building out your funnel
Now that you have your email capture up and running it’s time to review your market research to see what and how your competitors are selling their products. You need to really look at how they are positioning their products to the market. Are they the Cadillacs of the niche or do they have the Walmart mentality. You have to figure out your positioning before you create a product.
You also need to look at what types of funnels your competitors are using. Are they losing money on the front-end to acquire a customer only to promote high ticket items to them next week? Do do they make enough money from the front-end sales that they don’t have a back-end funnel. These are important details you need to consider.
coins-1015125_640Not focusing on recurring income
Even if you’re only selling 1 item, look at how you can take that one time sale and turn it into repeat sales. Or better yet offer some kind of continuity program to create recurring income. Often this is done with a product of the month, membership sites, newsletters, or product refills. This will be the source of the bulk of your long-term income. Plus, if you consider selling the business the recurring income and the email list will be the assets that buyers want the most.
Not wanting to spend money on advertising
This is where most entrepreneurs trip themselves up. You have be willing to spend money to get your offer in front of your target audience. It is just like in real estate– location, location, location. You can’t make sales if buyers never see your site. Paid traffic should be a line item on your cost of doing business. The entire internet is based on the model of using paid traffic.
Trying to do the techie stuff yourself
I’m a victim of this myself. I can’t count the times I should have spent my time growing the business instead of tweaking some code on the site or in the shopping cart. Don’t spend your time doing techie things. Technology is hard to learn, and often you will only use it once or twice. But technology is easy and cheap to outsource.

The landing page of your website is crucial. It is often the first contact people have with your company. Therefore, it’s essential you capture their attention and their interest. If your landing page is not attractive and does not contain meaningful information, potential customers will simple move on. Your landing page must contain images and information that will grab the reader’s attention and motivate them to continue to investigate what your website has to offer.
No matter how good the product or service you are offering is, if your landing page cannot capture the customer’s attention, they won’t stick around long enough to find out.
Make Your Landing Page Match Your Ads
Your ad was effective enough to encourage potential customers to visit your website. Use that to your advantage. Your landing page should match your ads in several key areas if you want to continue to hold the interest of the visitors to your site. Many businesses lose clients because of the dramatic difference between the information on the flyer or other types of marketing materials that draw them to the site and the landing page.
However, the most effective landing pages are the ones which mirror the marketing themes, language, and feel of the previously distributed marketing materials.
Two important ways in which you should make sure your landing pages matches your other marketing material is with the headlines and the images that are used. The same headline that drew the potential client to your website will probably hold their attention and make them take the time to explore the site and stay long enough to hear your entire message.
The images you use on your landing page play a similar role. Some people are attracted to and moved by particular images. By continuing to use the images from your previous marketing materials on your landing page you increase the chances of keeping the interest of your visitors and making a sale.
Keep Your Landing Page Simple
Some people try to do so much with their landing page that it ends up driving away their visitors. Many people today are either very busy or have short attention spans. If they find they have to work too hard to access or understand the information being presented on your landing page, chances are higher they will simply navigate away from your website. People of a variety of educational and interest levels will visit your website landing page.

Robohub Podcast #245: High-Performance Autonomous Vehicles, with Chris Gerdes
http://bit.ly/2zmhtJQ
In this episode, Audrow Nash interviews Chris Gerdes, Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University, about designing high-performance autonomous vehicles. The idea is to make vehicles safer, as Gerdes says, he wants to “develop vehicles that could avoid any accident that can be avoided within the laws of physics.”
In this interview, Gerdes discusses developing a model for high-performance control of a vehicle; their autonomous race car, an Audi TTS named ‘Shelley,’ and how its autonomous performance compares to ameteur and professional race car drivers; and an autonomous, drifting Delorean named ‘MARTY.’
Chris Gerdes
Chris Gerdes is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University, Director of the Center for Automotive Research at Stanford (CARS) and Director of the Revs Program at Stanford. His laboratory studies how cars move, how humans drive cars and how to design future cars that work cooperatively with the driver or drive themselves. When not teaching on campus, he can often be found at the racetrack with students, instrumenting historic race cars or trying out their latest prototypes for the future. Vehicles in the lab include X1, an entirely student-built test vehicle, and Shelley, an Audi TT-S capable of turning a competitive lap time around the track without a human driver. Professor Gerdes and his team have been recognized with a number of awards including the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, the Ralph Teetor award from SAE International and the Rudolf Kalman Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Audio
This is one of the audio that I would prefer to be in my sound sync. I am aiming for a simple upbeat song since it would be smoother to go with the animation.
The reason why I consider this is because there are some sounds in the audio which stands out that would make the animation to have a playful theme with the sound of what I think is the bubbles popping.
My First Test Videos
I have cut the audio to two parts since I noticed that both of them have different tones.
youtube
This is the first attempt on sound sync, and I must admit that I dislike it. I think it is too simple and this piece is more experimental which gives off the ameteur look to it.
How I created it
Rather than screenshots, I think it would be better if I record my screen since it shows what I have played with and what I ended up using.
youtube
My Second Test Video
youtube
This one is much more successful than the first one. I took inspiration from “Anaconda” however, I didn’t notice how odd the rectangles look like until I asked for other’s opinion.

Now I know why Paul always gets high marks on all of his projects.
Despite that, I have also recorded my screen for the second test video, showing developments of my progress.
