For as rough as his brother's hands can be, they're gentle with him. Even when Ace couldn't return the kindness, Luffy endured him; holding fast to clenched fists and knuckles that were split and swollen. Persistent, stubborn even after Luffy pried his hand into Ace's and grit his teeth through the ache of Ace's bruising grips. Whining because he was a crybaby and it hurt, but never pulling away. Only squeezing just as tight in playful retaliation. Smile wide as he coaxed Ace's fingers out of their vice grip to clasp their hands together - warm and soft in a way that made Ace flinch. Because while there was dirt beneath Luffy's nails, there was blood beneath his.
And in spite of that—in spite of everything—Luffy never let go of him. Whether or not Ace feels worth that love and tender devotion, Luffy holds on to him: hands clasped together as Luffy beckons him on new adventures, a reassuring squeeze whenever Ace wavers, a bruising grip when Luffy is overcome; nails cutting into Ace's skin until Ace soothes him. Lips ghosting over knuckles - swollen and split).
Rough, but gentle with Ace. Always.
#acelu#okay someone tell me why they're so soft??#the childhood sweethearts trope has never been so sweet i'm ahhhhhhh#following an Ace lives AU -- Luffy persisting with wanting to hold ace's hand or be held by Ace in any capacity ffffffff#with Luffy pulling Ace's arms around him - back to chest and then Ace plonks his chin on top of Luffy's head and it's so cozy and sweet#but wait--#Luffy trying to hold Ace's hand. Luffy
You broke up with him, and it killed you, but you must face the truth: He's still too immature for a serious relationship. He isn’t what you need right now.
The idea of you not being in his life doesn’t make sense to him.
“Can we, at least, be friends?” “Maybe in the future, Luffy.” “Like, in a week?”
Pushing you out of his routine is something he can’t seem to do.
“Hey! Are we still on for dinner on Friday?” “Luff, we are broken up.” “Is that a no?”
Sends you constant TikTok videos and memes that remind him of you. You try not to answer but can’t help but see them.
Moving on from him is a nightmare cause he’s always there.
It takes something to have reality hit him.
“Oh, look at this photo Y/n posted!” He showed Usopp your profile. A thread of photos you had posted last night. The first one of you with chopsticks on your nose. The next one mid mid-bite. The third one of you smiling and looking at the camera.
"I thought you guys broke up?" He side-eyed his friend.
"Yeah, so?" He was too focused on flipping through your pictures until he came across the last one. You were posing with a guy, his arm around you while kissing your cheek. You were laughing. “Who the fuck is that?!”
“Um...”
He won't hesitate. He corners you to ask who the guy in your photo is. And when you answer honestly, it feels like a punch to the gut.
“It’s a guy I’ve been seeing.” “What? I thought you just needed a break or something. Not an actual break-break.” “Lu, we broke up four months ago...”
Be sure he’ll drive away anyone who dares to approach you. He wants you and won’t let you go. Not that easy.
It's no surprise you end up back on his bed. You love this man, your heart longs for him.
“Luffy!” Overstimulated and cross-eyed he had you, on the old and ragged couch of his living room. His tongue lapped at your wet cunt, thrusting and sucking on everything across its path. Luffy was always a messy eater, so oral sex wasn’t the exception.
"You always taste so good." He pulled away for a second, just to see the way your juices spilt out along with his spit. Then, he pushed two fingers inside, with no warning, but sure where to aim. He knew your body like the palm of his hand.
“Shit!” If he hadn’t been holding you, you surely would've face-planted. Your fingers ran through his hair, shoving his face closer to your core. Getting closer and closer for the nth time, thanks to the way his fingers fuck you and his lips around your clit.
Yeah, you fucked up.
Your head is a mess, and this won’t help. But you are weak, dumb and in love. And, painfully, in denial.
To him, it just doesn’t make sense. If you love him, and he loves you, why not be together?
“Are we good?” He asks while stroking your arm, leaving kisses on your shoulder. It’s then you realise you aren’t and he’s still the same man you broke up with.
“No, Luffy. We are not.” You get up and get dressed.
"But I miss you, Y/n, and I know you miss me too!" He hugs you from the back, "We are meant to be."
“Are we?” You won’t even look at him. No matter how much he tries.
Zoro
He doesn’t even flinch when you break up with him.
He’s the definition of lovers to enemies.
Being friends with the two of you is hell.
“Why are you acting like a fucking asshole?” “Why are you being such a bitch?”
Do not be mistaken, Zoro might act like he hates you, but he’s hurting. Having you so close but not being able to be with you is killing him. Even more, knowing it was his fault.
He took you for granted. He was neglectful and dismissive, prioritizing every aspect of his life over you. Unaware of it until it was too late.
It’s not that he didn’t care that you left, it's the fact that he didn’t know what to do to get you back. So, he resorted to anger.
Rolling his eyes every time you were brought up, being in the worst mood whenever you showed up; and arguing with you at every little opportunity he got.
Hate sex came out of nowhere, am I right?
“Don’t stop!” Eyes at the back of your head, face shoved against his pillow.
His hips pounded against your ass again and again. You’ve been going at it for God knows how long, but Zoro didn’t seem anywhere near done with you, "Such an obedient girl.” His thrusts slowed down while pressing his chest to your back, leaving kisses on the skin and biting your shoulder, “your pussy is more honest than you, baby.”
Your hands gripped desperately to his sheets. You couldn’t form a single straight thought, just his name and moans escaped your mouth. “Fuck you." You felt the knot in your belly snapping, legs trembling, and juices spilling everywhere, “Zoro!”
“You don’t have to pretend, baby. We both know how much you love this dick.” He didn’t stop, bullying your cervix with the tip of his cock, prolonging your climax, “Fuck, you feel so fucking good, baby.”
But each time, you would run away from him. Claiming it was a mistake, and that it wouldn’t happen again. (Spoiler: it did.)
He would find any excuse to get you riled up, poking you in ways only he could. If this was the only way he got to be close to you again, he would do it, no doubt.
“We can’t keep doing this.” You said while putting on your bra. Shame screaming in the back of your head.
"You always say that." He lies on his arm, looking at you with a smirk.
“I need to move on, Zoro.” A sob escapes your lips. This worries him, making him want to comfort you. “I can’t keep doing this to myself.”
"Give me a chance to prove you I've changed." He grabs your hand and looks you in the eyes, "Let me make it up to you. I won’t repeat the same mistakes.”
You contemplated it for a second. The man you so desperately love is right in front of you, begging for a second chance, but you can’t bring yourself to believe him, “I don’t trust you, Zo.”
He watches you walk away from him, and once again, he doesn’t know how to stop you.
Sanji
He’s a whore. Plain and simple. This is not to say he cheated because he didn’t... but flirting with everything that moves is just as bad.
He’s at a loss when you break up with him, claiming it came out of the blue.
“I don´t understand, my love. I thought we were okay.” “You can’t flirt with my friends and expect me to be okay with it.” “I'm just complimenting them, love. Every woman deserves to feel appreciated.”
Yeah, well, now he can appreciate them all he wants.
Do you want him to beg? He’ll do it, every day, all day.
Flowers and desserts are always present at your desk first thing in the morning.
Poems attached to gift bags at your doorstep when you come back from work.
Long texts professing his love and how much he misses you.
You gave in after a couple of weeks.
He seems genuinely sorry. He’s been attentive, caring, loving, and you are, mind-numbingly, in love with the chef. Why not give him another chance?
You look into each other's eyes while his fingers trace up and down your skin. “I missed you so much, sweetheart.” His mouth presses against your neck, leaving small, red marks on it.
“Sanji.” You whimper, running your nails against his back.
He’s slow to undress you but covers your body in kisses as he pulls off every piece of clothing. He whispers sweet promises against your body while his hands dance across your skin. “Don’t ever leave me, my love. I thought I’d die without you.”
You press your hand against his clothed member, making him whimper in your mouth. Both of you are hungry for more, longing for each other’s body and love, “please, Sanji, make love to me.”
And that’s all it takes. Sanji is inside you in a second, chasing your and his pleasure. His thrusts are desperate and uneven, but you couldn’t care less. "You feel so good, baby. Shit, so good, so good." He’s pussy drunk on you.
In the morning, you wake up feeling good and loved.
His scent and warmth still linger on the bed. The house smells like syrup. Your body aches in a good way. Could it get any better?
The moment you open your phone, you see it.
A heart-eyed emoji under Nami’s latest post.
That mother fucker.
You gather your clothes, shoving yourself into them, eager to get out and never see him again. Just as you are about to open the door, he does. A breakfast tray in his hand, makes your stomach grumble, but you refuse to acknowledge.
“Good morning, my sweet.” He places the food on the bed, “Why are you up? I thought we could have breakfast in bed.”
“I’m leaving, Sanji. Last night was a mistake.” You can’t look him in the eyes cause if you do, you know you’ll give in.
“What? But I thought,” He stutters, “I thought everything... I... We were fine.”
“We weren’t, Sanji.” You grabbed your bag, “Don’t call me.”
Ace
The absolute worst kind of ex. The perfect one you can’t seem to hate.
You broke up because you start to notice how much he loves being free, so much more than being in a relationship. He’s the flirty type, consciously or not, it was just who he was.
He won’t deny it, but he’ll say he likes meeting new people.
He will respect your decision, even if it breaks his heart. Sometimes wonders if he should have fought harder for you.
You try to stay friends. At the end of the day, Ace is loyal to those he loves and cherishes, and you aren’t willing to lose that. (And selfishly, you don’t want to give him time to be on someone else’s lips.)
Both of you act like nothing ever happened. Pretending it wasn’t a big deal, and you are okay with going back to being friends.
Outings with your friend group are the perfect excuse to see each other, neither of you brave enough to admit how much you miss the other.
Robin tries to set you up with one of her coworkers. Ace prays to God he doesn’t show up, or he’s a complete pig.
He suffers in silence every time he sees someone hitting on you at a bar. (In silence meaning that everyone in the room can tell his fuming.)
“Why won’t you admit you miss her?” “Y/n and I are better off as friends, Marco. Don’t worry about it.”
Then why won’t you leave his bed?
Ignited by the feeling of missing each other (and the amount of alcohol in your systems), you are back on his bed.
“You are such a good view.” He moans, one hand grabbing your ass while the other one rests behind his head. Enjoying the way you bounce on his dick.
You threw your head back, legs about to give in, but desperate to feel his cum inside you, “Ace!” You whimper.
“Already tired, princess? Oh, but you are doing such a good job.” Ace loves to tease you, but even more than that, he loves making you cum. Both his hands on your hips and feet placed on the bed, making you lean on his knees, he takes over.
Chest to chest, your face against his neck, you cry out, begging him to make you cum, and for him to fill you up with his cum. "Please, Daddy, please, make me cum.”
He smirked, “didn’t know how much I missed you calling me that.” He spanked you, "Don't worry, baby, Daddy'll give you what you want.”
You love your bed, but it loves him too. It'll happen at the same time every weekend.
But you know it must stop. You love him and you can’t keep hoping that someday he’ll change.
So, you’ll make the most mature choice you can think of. You ghost him.
You won’t answer the phone when he calls, messages, emails, or anyway he can contact you goes unanswered. You don't show up to events or plans when you know he will.
And it works..., for like two weeks.
It’s seven a.m., and some maniac is banging on your door. With dry spit on your cheeks and puffy eyes, you answer the door, wondering who the fuck dares disturb you on your day off.
“Ace.” Shit.
“Yeah, may I know why you are ghosting me?”
“I, I am not.” You stutter.
“Don’t lie to me.” He shoves his way into your apartment. “What’s going on, Y/n? Why are you avoiding me?”
“Because we can’t keep doing this, Ace. I can’t keep allowing myself to fall for you when you don’t want me like that.”
“You were the one who wanted to break up, not me.”
“That’s beside the point, Ace. Please, don’t make this any harder.”
“Can we at least talk about it?”
“Leave, Ace.”
Law
Sometimes, you don’t know if he’s dating you because he loves you or just to shut you up.
He cares, and you know that, but words without actions are just that.
He’s a doctor, and you understand he’s busy, but the fact that you have to break up over the phone cause he’s too busy to talk in person makes you feel better about your decision.
It’s not until he finishes his shift that reality hits. Twelve hours later.
Drowns himself in work to try and forget you. Sometimes he forgets he’s human and still can hurt.
He won't call, text or contact you to talk things over. At least not in the beginning. Do you want to break up? Fine. He’s got too much going on to deal with you. (That’s what he says to convince himself.)
Starts noticing how much you loved him, and how much he took for granted.
Homemade lunches and snacks that no longer sit on the counter when he’s leaving for work. No random texts throughout the day that pull him out of the rut. No one waited for him at home, and no one filled his days off.
Law spends hours looking at his phone, contemplating whether he should call or not. What would he even say? Sorry? I miss you? I’m a fucking mess without you?
He cringes at the idea of acting that vulnerable.
“Didn’t know you and that girl had broken up.” Law barely heard the other doctor, too busy disassociating himself in a cup of cold, bitter coffee.
“Huh?” He’s too drowsy for this.
“Yeah, I saw her last night at that new club. She looks great, no wonder she had all those dudes trying to take her home." He laughed mockingly. "If I didn't respect you enough, I would have given it a try, oh well.”
The comment makes his blood boil, but he doesn’t say anything.
After that, it doesn’t take much for him to contact you. Men and their fragile egos.
“Hello?” ... “It’s me.”
You no longer have his contact saved on your phone. It’s been months.
“Okay? What do you need, Law?” “Can we talk?”
Oh, now he wants to talk.
You go to his place, as per his request. Talking turns into crying, then into yelling and onto you being pounded on his bed. The flesh is weak, and you are even weaker for this man.
Your knees are next to your ears, tears dripping down your cheeks and his dick shoving his way in and out of your cunt. You can barely breathe, and your head feels like it's stuffed with cotton. "God, Law."
“Miss me, babygirl?” His thumb pushes on your overstimulated clit, making you clench even harder around him, “do you miss my cock, love?” His thrusts won’t let up even if you cum he won’t stop, not until you are dripping out with his cum.
You are shaking, your lungs feel like they are on fire, and your core is so sensitive everything he does throws you over the edge. But you want more. You need more.
"No one can make you feel the way I do. Don't ever forget that." He says right after he spills his seed inside you. His fingers push it right back inside once it threatens to come out.
But when morning comes, everything goes back to the way it was.
You can’t go through it again. The lonely nights, the missed anniversary dinner, the unanswered texts. You won’t go back to feeling unloved.
“You don’t have to go.” He whispers while watching you put back your clothes.
You shake your head, "This was a mistake, Law." You grabbed your phone and looked for your purse.
“I know I fucked up, but...” You cut him, done.
“It’s been months, Law. I think we are past that." You close the door of his room and on you two.

Gm!! I saw your inbox was open!! I was hoping to request something with Sanji, Ace n Franky with a selective mute (gender neutral) reader talking to them through their voice for the first time to confess? 👉👈
(Btw I wanted to let you know that your writing has such a grip on my heart, I must have re-read your Sleepy Afternoon hcs at least a hundred times 🥺🫶 and i hope you have a wonderful day!)
So sorry I didn't get a new chapter out today...the holidays kept me busy! Enjoy these sweet short stories instead <3 Characters: gn reader x Sanji, Ace, Franky Cw:  none :) Total word count: 1600
First Words
Sanji
Ever since you joined the crew, you had found yourself gravitating toward the kitchen.
Being with Sanji was easy. He never pestered you with questions or asked you to speak. If he did ask questions, they were always non-invasive, yes-or-no questions that you could answer with a shake of your head.
You realized you had feelings for him when he came into the kitchen one morning, dark shadows under his eyes. And before he began cooking, he signed good morning to you. You had signed back the same phrase before you realized that he had signed, not spoken.
He beamed with pride as your eyes widened in shock.
“You learned how to sign?” you signed quickly.
He focused intensely as he watched the way your hands moved, and then slowly nodded.
“I stayed up all night trying to learn the basics. I figured it’s lonely up there in your head.” He tapped his temple with his forefinger for effect. “I’m not very good yet, but I’ll try my best to follow you if you ever feel like communicating.”
You gave a soft nod, the thought making your eyes shine. Even just the effort of knowing good morning made your heart swell.
As the days went on, Sanji got better at sign language. So much better that he indirectly became your translator for the rest of the crew if you ever felt like adding to the conversation. He came to your defense whenever Luffy begged you to speak, and helped make sure your voice was heard without ever judging you.
As the two of you were sitting out on the deck one night under the stars, you decided you couldn’t hold it in anymore. You had to tell him.
“I have to tell you something,” you signed.
Sanji stood up a little straighter, looking at you with slight concern. “What is it, my love?”
“I think-” you paused your signing. Saying the words with your hands didn’t seem right. You trusted Sanji with everything. You wanted to tell him. You wanted to say it. Out loud.
“I think-” you whispered softly, your voice raw from time unused. But you grew more confident when you spoke again. “I think I might just be in love with you, Sanji.”
You could see him struggling to understand your words; the fact that you had spoken was enough to send him into shock.
And then he leaned in and kissed you.
You melted under his touch. Your body craved the feeling of his skin as he held your face against his.
“I love you too, my dear,” he whispered back. “And my name on your lips is sweeter than anything I could ever cook up.”
Ace
Ace didn’t mind that you didn’t speak a lot. Or speak at all. He did enough talking for the both of you.
Still, you liked being around him. At meals, you often found yourself sitting next to him. At parties, he was often at your door, dragging you out onto the deck to have a few beers with everyone.
You liked how he could bring people together. He was always the life of the party anywhere you went. You enjoyed his warmth, both through his devil fruit ability and personality.
You often found yourself staring at him, admiring everything about him. You knew every other person on the ship was doing the same thing. So even when his eyes locked onto yours and the two of you had silent conversations, you did your best to ignore that ache in your chest. He was loved by everyone. You weren’t special.
“Thank you for coming tonight,” Ace said, taking a seat next to you on the deck. “I know you didn’t want to, and I know these parties can be overwhelming. So thanks for coming for me.”
You shook your head slightly, smiling softly. It’s no big deal.
“It is a big deal! You-” the rest of his sentence was cut off by a few of your crewmates screaming at each other and everyone cheering loudly.
“Come on,” Ace mumbled, rising to his feet and holding out his hand for you. “Let’s go somewhere quieter. I can’t hear myself think here.”
You smiled and nodded, taking his hand. It was loud and overwhelming. You were here for Ace, to celebrate him being promoted. But that didn’t mean you liked being around crowds or rowdiness.
There was only one place that was quiet on a night like tonight: the crow’s nest. So the two of you quietly snuck up the ladder and hid away from everyone. A moment of quiet amongst the sea of noise.
“It's so peaceful up here,” Ace said softly. “I love it up here.”
You hummed in agreement. “I love you.”
Both of you froze. You hadn’t even been thinking about a confession. It had come out entirely on its own.
You could feel Ace’s sharp gaze on you. “What?”
You cleared your throat, ignoring the heat on your face. “The view. I love the view.”
“You’re speaking.”
You finally looked at him, your voice rough. “I speak sometimes.”
“Never to me!” Ace ran his hand through his hair and took a long drink from the bottle in his hand. “You’ve never spoken to me!”
“I-” you stopped. You hadn’t spoken much since you had joined the crew. Only to Pops, really. And only whenever you were asked a direct question. Ace had probably never heard your voice. “I thought you had. I’m sorry.”
“Don’t apologize!” Ace said, laughing. “I just want to hear more of it! Tell me a story! Your voice is- is like-” he struggled for words, and then he smiled as his eyes locked onto yours. “It’s like a breath of fresh air.”
“It is not,” you smiled at his words, though. “You just feel that way because we can breathe up here without smelling our lovely crewmates.”
Ace barked out a laugh. “Stunning and funny. You really are the total package.”
You quieted at that. A true compliment from Ace didn’t happen often, and you could feel the blush creeping its way through your face.
Instead, you laid back and turned your head toward the sky, choosing to watch the stars instead. You were almost asleep when Ace spoke again.
“I love you too, you know.”
Franky
You liked being in the workshop with Franky. Franky never tried to get you to speak. Most of the time it was too loud in there to hold a conversation anyway. The extent of your conversation was him asking you to get a tool for him, and you silently retrieving it.
You weren’t sure it changed into something more, but you began watching him closely as he worked. After a day or two, he began explaining what he was building and all the steps that went into it. It wasn’t long before you were working on the bench next to him.
Some days, Franky was chatty. He talked about his home, his old life, and other projects he had done. Sometimes he asked you simple questions about your past, but he never pried too deep.
That’s what you liked most about Franky. Everything had been on your terms, and Franky had always received your decisions enthusiastically. He always supported you when you wanted to help him build a bench, but he also encouraged you to take rest days when you simply wanted to observe.
Franky was always on your side. No matter what you decided, he was going to agree. He was your biggest fan, always cheering you on.
And as his strong arms wrapped around you, both of you holding the torch to weld two pieces of metal together, you realized the heat on your face wasn’t just from the flame.
Franky pulled his welding helmet up. “So, do you like welding?”
You nodded. “I think I like you more, Franky.”
Franky’s mouth fell open in shock. For once, you had stunned him into silence. Only the hum of the generator buzzed in the air.
The silence made you feel strange, and words began falling out of your mouth in an attempt to fill it.
“You’re so kind and supportive to me and you always help me learn new things. You’ve been so amazing and patient these past few weeks and you’re always so encouraging and…I just…I like you a lot, Franky, and I was just thinking about how I wanted to tell you and then it just…came out.”
Franky was still staring at you, awestruck. “You can speak?”
You covered your face. He was missing the whole point. Maybe he would forget the words you had actually said.
He seemed to remember your words at that exact moment. “Me? You like me?”
A small smile creeped across your face. No backing down now. “Yes, I do.”
“Super!” His words made you laugh. “I’ve liked you for quite some time as well. Just didn’t tell you because I didn’t want to make you feel uncomfortable.”
Your smile finally widened, full and genuine. “You’re the place I feel most comfortable, Franky.”
He gently wrapped his arms around you, pulling you in for an embrace. “And I will never stop being that for you, I swear it.”

How did Ace and Marco come to the plan to kidnap Akainu’s kid? Did they just see them walking around and decide to grab them, or were they tracking them? And what are Whitebeard’s thoughts on the situation?
It was just kinda dumb luck tbh
Originally, their plan had nothing to do with kidnapping. Finding a marine that the Marines would genuinely fight to get back rather than just leave to figure it out themselves felt borderline impossible. They were instead planning to acquire a new ship and send some of the less recognizable members of the crew to fetch the medicine under the guise of being doctors from an island facing an outbreak and just hope that no one figures them out.
But, when they were at the shipyard, they spotted Akainu's kid looking at ships. The new plan came into fruition instantly. The Marines might not be willing to make a deal for any old marines, but surely they would be for the child of an Admiral.
As soon as reader was captured, Marco knew something was off. He had been expecting anger, fear, or even embarrassment over being caught, but the kid was borderline catatonic. Alarm bells were already ringing in his head, but he didn't really have anything to work off of yet, so he settled for just keeping a close eye on them and encouraging the crew to be really nice to them (hence why everyone kept gassing the kid up).
After the attempt, everything changes. Ace and Marco both feel horrendously guilty for inadvertently causing a child so much distress that they tried to take their own life. The Moby Dick rapidly becomes an inpatient care facility because they don't trust reader not to try and off themselves again upon release. That, and based on what reader said right before the attempt, they're all suspecting that the kid was being outright abused by Akainu. They wouldn't be able to sleep at night if they let a child go back to their abuser.
Ace, unsurprisingly, takes this whole situation very hard. He feels like an absolute monster for helping catch them, and the stab wound in his hand is nothing by comparison. It especially doesn't help that reader is around Luffy's age, so now all he can picture is what if his little brother was in such a dire mental state.
Marco is similarly wracked with guilt, but he's able to compartmentalize it better by shifting into doctor mode around the kid. He's very focused on getting to the root of the problem and treating it so that reader can genuinely get better and recover from this.
Poor Thatch was just there to ask about dietary restrictions, he was not even slightly prepared to witness a suicide attempt. This kind of thing is well beyond his pay grade, but he's going to try his damnedest regardless. Anything this kid wants, they're going to get. He'll make special grocery trips just for them.
Whitebeard is in full dad mode. That's his kid now. Marco relaying their words right before the attempt is all he needed to hear, he can piece together the rest on his own. Reader isn't safe with the Marines, and definitely not with their father. He's going to make sure they're safe throughout their recovery, but he'll wait to make them officially one of his own until after they're in a better mental state.

The Warm Embrace
Tumblr media
[part 2] [part 3]
The cool wind brushed against your sweat-soaked skin, offering brief relief. The Grand Line’s weather was always extreme, and tonight’s heat was no exception. Excited for your night watch, you ascended toward the crow’s nest. It had been a while since you’d spent time with Izo, both of you caught up in pirate duties. And when it wasn’t work, it seemed someone else always claimed Izo’s time. So, even though you were exhausted, you eagerly took this shift to be with him.
That’s why disappointment hit hard when, instead of Izo in his usual kimono, you found a shirtless newbie lounging in the nest.
"Yo," he greeted casually, before turning his attention back to the sea.
You frowned. "This is supposed to be Izo's shift. What are you doing here?"
Ace, still staring out over the water, replied, "Well, after winning the drinking contest with the others, he’s out cold. So Marco asked me to take over." His nonchalant attitude irritated you, but you swallowed the feeling. Suddenly, he glanced back at you, a smirk tugging at his lips.
"What? Spill it," you demanded, narrowing your eyes. Marco had warned you about Ace’s mischief, and that grin was never a good sign.
"Oh, it’s nothing," he said, shrugging, the smirk growing wider. "Just wondering if you're not cold in that."
You looked down at your bikini top and denim shorts. Normally, you felt confident in your body, but under Ace’s teasing gaze, insecurity prickled at you. "Temperature might be just numbers to you, Fire Fist, but for the rest of us, it's hot tonight," you shot back, turning away.
"It does seem hot," he commented, his voice laced with amusement.
Your cheeks flushed as you glared at him. Ace was fanning himself lazily, clearly unaffected by the warmth. Not wanting to prolong the exchange, you grabbed the telescope and focused on the horizon, trying to cool down both from the heat and your annoyance. You hadn’t spent much time with Ace, aside from brief chats during meals or helping heal his wounds when he first arrived. You’d watched him from a distance—his bright, fiery nature was almost intimidating.
Lost in thought, you found yourself longing for something sweet and cool. "I could go for some watermelon right now," you mumbled to yourself.
"I can get that for you." His sudden offer startled you.
You blinked. "What?"
"You said you wanted watermelon, right?" He seemed impatient now, waiting for your reply. When you nodded, unsure of his intentions, he grinned. "Let’s eat together." And before you could react, he leaped out of the window.
You rushed to the edge, looking down just in time to see him land gracefully and head toward the kitchen. A small smile crept onto your face—maybe spending time with him wouldn’t be so bad after all.
It wasn’t long before Ace returned, carrying two plates piled with watermelon slices.
"I used to eat watermelon with my younger brother on summer nights," he said, handing you a plate.
"You have a brother?"
"Yeah, a younger brother. His name’s Luffy." There was a pause, and then he added with a fond chuckle, "Luffy, the guy who’s going to be Pirate King—that’s how he always introduces himself."
You smiled at his affection. "Aiming for the Pirate King’s throne, huh? I like his ambition."
Ace laughed, then launched into stories from his childhood. His tales flowed freely, and you soon found yourself sharing stories of your own, talking about how you joined this crew and recounting some of Marco’s more comical moments. Conversation came easily between you two, and the tension from earlier melted away.
Suddenly, Ace stopped mid-sentence, staring intently out of the window. "Is that… an island?" he asked, pointing at a small dot on the dark horizon.
You grabbed the telescope and scanned the distance. Sure enough, there it was. "Yeah, it’s an island. We should inform the navigator."
Without hesitation, Ace grabbed the small snail communicator and notified the crew. The ship slowly adjusted course, heading toward the unknown island. Silence settled between you, a comfortable excitement filling the air as you both anticipated the adventure ahead.
"Achoo!" You sneezed as a biting gust of wind swept through the nest. Ace shot you a smug look, clearly enjoying his earlier prediction coming true.
You scowled, ignoring him, and reached for a shawl from the nearby cupboard. But the cold seemed to creep under your skin, no matter how tightly you wrapped it around yourself. The wind was icy, and with each breath, you could see small clouds of white steam escaping your lips. You huddled deeper into the shawl, seeking warmth.
Ace, meanwhile, seemed completely unfazed by the cold, still gazing out over the sea with a relaxed expression. You couldn’t help but stare at him. His tousled hair fluttered in the breeze, and for a moment, you were captivated. His sharp eyes sparkled in the dim light, his freckles dotted his face like constellations, and his cracked lips glistened as he moistened them with his tongue. You found yourself soaking in every detail.
Noticing your gaze, Ace turned his head, his eyes locking with yours. Embarrassed, you quickly looked away, a blush creeping up your cheeks.
"Cold?" you asked, trying to cover your flustered state with a casual question.
Ace smirked. "A little. Want to share that shawl?"
Your heart raced at his teasing tone, but before you could stop yourself, you scooted closer, allowing him to slip under the shawl with you. Sitting shoulder to shoulder, warmth spread from where your bodies touched, though your other side still shivered from the cold.
Another gust of wind made you shiver involuntarily. "Maybe we should head back down…" you muttered, but a part of you resisted, wanting to hold on to this quiet moment.
Ace noticed your shivering and suddenly said, "Come here." He opened his arms, and before you could think twice, you found yourself leaning into his chest. His body was a furnace, the heat seeping into your skin and chasing away the chill. His arms wrapped around you, pulling the shawl tighter as you rested your head against him.
"Feeling better?" he asked, his voice a low murmur near your ear.
"Mmhmm," you hummed, already feeling your eyelids grow heavy. The steady warmth and the soft rocking of the ship lulled you into a comfortable drowsiness. It could’ve been the exhaustion from the recent mission, or maybe it was Ace’s comforting presence—either way, sleep came easily.
"Idiot," Ace whispered with a fond smile, watching as your breathing evened out. The dark circles under your eyes hadn’t escaped his notice earlier, and he was glad to see you finally resting.
When you stirred awake later, the sky was still dark. You felt something warm and solid pressed against you and, for a moment, panic fluttered in your chest. But then you looked up, seeing Ace’s calm face, still gazing out the window.
"You didn’t wake me?" you asked groggily, rubbing at your eyes.
You tried to sit up, but Ace’s arms tightened around your waist, pulling you back against him. "Go back to sleep," he murmured, his voice gentle. Despite your initial protest, you found yourself melting back into his embrace. His warmth was impossible to resist.
Ace radiated a sense of peace and security, something you’d only felt with a few people in your life. His presence was calming, grounding, and before long, you were drifting back into a peaceful sleep, nestled safely against him.
The cold wind outside contrasted with the warmth inside the shared shawl as you drifted back into sleep, feeling Ace’s steady breathing against your back. The night was still young, and the soft creaks of the ship moving through the waves created a lullaby that added to the calmness of the moment.
When you woke again, it was much later. The first traces of dawn painted the sky a muted gray, and the air felt calmer, though still chilly. This time, you stirred more awake, shifting slightly in Ace’s arms, realizing just how tightly you had curled into him.
His voice, low and steady, broke the quiet. "Morning already?" He didn’t sound sleepy, and you wondered how long he’d stayed awake while you slept.
You shifted a little more, trying to sit up without disturbing the closeness that had developed between you during the night. "How long was I out?"
"A while," Ace replied, his tone light, almost teasing. "You really knocked out. You didn’t even budge when the others called about adjusting course for the island."
You blinked, surprised. "They didn’t wake me up?"
He chuckled softly. "I told them not to. You looked like you needed it." His arms loosened around you, but he didn’t fully let go. His body was still warm against the morning chill, and part of you didn’t want to move just yet.
A warm blush spread across your cheeks as you realized how cozy you had gotten in his arms. It wasn’t like you to feel so vulnerable around someone new, especially a pirate with the reputation Ace carried. But there was something about him, something disarming. His warmth wasn’t just physical; it radiated from his personality, from the ease with which he could talk about his past, laugh about dreams, and invite you into his world. The way he held you now—secure but not possessive—only reinforced that feeling.
"I guess I owe you for letting me sleep in," you muttered, breaking the silence.
He grinned. "Nah, just make sure you share more of that shawl next time." His playful smirk was back, but this time it felt different—more familiar, less mischievous.
You rolled your eyes but couldn’t help smiling in return. Pulling away, you finally stood up, stretching and feeling the stiffness in your muscles from the long night’s rest. Ace followed suit, standing and cracking his neck with a lazy grin.
The ship’s movement felt more purposeful now, and when you looked out the window, the island Ace had spotted last night was much clearer on the horizon. It was still distant, but the promise of adventure lay ahead. The soft glow of dawn reflected off the water, casting everything in a quiet, golden light.
"So," you began, glancing back at Ace. "You up for some island exploration?"
He crossed his arms, the familiar smirk playing on his lips again. "Of course. Wouldn’t miss it."
The wind picked up slightly as you both descended from the crow’s nest, the rest of the crew now stirring below deck. You could hear faint chatter and the clanking of dishes as breakfast preparations began. The ship was alive with anticipation for what lay ahead on the mysterious island.
As you made your way across the deck, Ace walking beside you, the comfortable silence between you was broken only by the occasional flutter of sails or creak of wood. You felt a sense of ease—something that hadn’t been there before. Maybe it was the time spent together last night, or maybe it was the quiet understanding that had formed between you two.
Once inside the galley, the warm smell of food filled the air. The crew greeted you both with nods and smiles, though a few eyebrows raised in curiosity at the sight of you together. You could feel their teasing stares, but no one said anything directly.
"Morning, you two," Marco said, giving Ace a knowing look. His tone was casual, but there was a glint of amusement in his eyes.
Ace shrugged nonchalantly. "Just keeping watch, as requested."
"Right," Marco smirked before turning back to his breakfast. "Well, you both should fuel up. We’ll be hitting the island soon."
The meal was simple but hearty—eggs, bread, and some fruit. As you ate with Ace beside you, you found yourself stealing glances at him. He was more relaxed now, chatting with the crew as if last night had changed something for him, too. He no longer seemed like just the newcomer or the notorious Fire Fist. Instead, there was a growing sense of camaraderie between you, a connection that felt like the beginning of something deeper.
After breakfast, preparations for the landing began. The ship’s anchor was lowered, and you and the crew began organizing supplies for the island exploration. The morning sun was now climbing higher in the sky, burning away the last traces of dawn. As the boat slowed near the island’s shore, excitement buzzed through the crew.
"You ready?" Ace asked, coming up behind you as you stood near the edge of the ship, watching the island grow closer. His voice held that same mix of playfulness and seriousness that was quickly becoming familiar to you.
"Always," you said, turning to meet his gaze. His eyes sparkled with that familiar fire, but this time, there was a softness there too, a quiet understanding of everything that had passed between you during the night watch.
As the crew prepared to disembark, you and Ace ended up side by side again, this time sharing more than just a shawl or a quiet night in the crow’s nest. There was an unspoken bond forming between you, one that neither of you had fully acknowledged yet, but it was there—undeniable, growing, like the adventure that awaited you on the shores of the island.

It should have been another afternoon hunting some animals, planning your big escape or just laughing at the boys not being able to decide who would be captain, but you had to be stubborn, didn't you?
You were a year and a few months younger than Ace, but he insisted that you were too weak, too sensitive and you wanted to change that. Change the way Ace saw you. You had already invested in new dresses - perhaps stolen from the city, but he wouldn't need to know about that - in makeup, in trying to appear more friendly, but everything seemed in vain. Perhaps his strength would help win over the boy.
The idea that he might just want to protect you didn't cross your mind. Or the simple idea that he thought you were so beautiful that he didn't want to see you covered in mud or the blood of strange forest animals didn't seem plausible. Ace dreamed that one day he would be able to understand that.
On that sunny afternoon, you had decided that you would ride the huge serpent in the lake, something you had already seen the boys do, because it would be difficult for you?
"You have to be able to get the rope on him." Sabo shouted as he saw you climb the highest rock.
"There's still time to give up." Luffy warned and you just smiled, waving from above.
When the huge serpent appeared, you did as the blonde had taught you. He threw the rope and tried to climb onto what you suspected was her neck - I mean, do snakes have necks?
Laughing at your own thought, you supported your feet and contrary to what you could imagine or what Sabo had taught, you found no firmness. Just a slippery goo stew. You felt the rope release from your hand and it only took seconds for you to feel your body fall against the edge of the lake and your name was shouted in chorus.
"Are you okay? I tried to catch you, but I couldn't." Luffy shook you, being the first to reach you.
"Let me see!" Ace pushed the brothers away and touched your face, seeing you look at him. "How are you feeling?"
"A little sore, but it's no big deal." You tried to sit up, using his help. "It was a silly fall."
"Look how high you fell, it wasn't stupid at all." Sabo commented and pointed to your back. "I think a little thorn got in here."
"Can you take it off, please?" you asked and groaned as soon as you felt him pulling. "Thanks."
"Why did you go up there? Do you want to get hurt?" Ace said in an angry tone, watching you stand. "You could have died."
"I just wanted to show that I'm strong too." you said almost as emphatically as he did. "And I am strong!"
"You don't need to climb on giant animals to do this." Ace continued, while the other two just watched. "Don't ever do that again."
"Okay." you gave up, just nodding. "Can we go get something to eat now?"
"Of course, I managed to separate some fruit, come." He reached out to you and supported you for a few steps until you felt confident walking alone.
The rest of the afternoon passed quickly for everyone. Almost everyone except you.
Little by little you felt your body being dominated by a strange sensation. A tingling and tiredness took over every inch of your being, in addition to excruciating pain. But you didn't want to have to give in and show Ace that you were feeling weak.
Just as the sun set that afternoon, you could feel your last remnants of strength also disappear, slowly fading away like the sun's rays.
"Hey!" you walked further behind, panting. "Go ahead, I'll meet you soon."
"What happened?" Ace noticed your strange behavior and tried to get closer, seeing you take a few steps back.
"Is nothing." your legs gave way and you fell backwards, face down on the ground.
"Something is wrong." Sabo muttered to Luffy. "Could it be those girl problems?"
"I don't think so." the youngest murmured back.
Meanwhile, Ace could feel a bad feeling washing over him. Seeing that you no longer had the strength to push him away, he approached, kneeling beside you.
"You're sweating." He touched your wet forehead and then moved his hand away. "And with fever."
"I-I'm oka-y…"
"Don't tell me everything's okay." Ace placed his hand on your back and saw you grunt in pain. He tried to repeat the gesture and the grumble came again. Without warning you, he lifted the back of your shirt, finding a red wound that was definitely starting to get infected. "Shit!"
"What's wrong Ace?" Sabo asked and the two tried to get closer.
"Go ahead, tell Dadan she's injured." he shouted and the two ran towards the shack. "Why didn't you say anything? This must hurt!"
"I d-don't w... d-dont w-ant to be weak. I can't be weak." You insisted, letting the pain wash over you. "But it hurts a lot Ace, it hurts a lot."
"Silly girl, you're not weak. Come on!" He knelt down and as best he could, he placed you on his back. "You are strong, very strong."
"Do not... lie." Your voice sounded sleepy, which worried the boy. He needed to keep your eyes open until an adult could take care of you.
"I'm not lying. You're strong, you're beautiful. I hope you choose to travel the seas with me." focusing on getting you home, Ace didn't seem worried about focusing on holding back his words. "I can be king of the pirates and you my queen."
"Ace…"
"Please stay awake, okay?" he asked, already spotting the hut.
As soon as Dadan caught up with Ace, everything became a blur for him. You being carried inside, the older woman's desperate screams, your small body lying there. He barely felt it when he was carried away.
"Boys…" Dadan's voice caught the three's attention. "You guys should have come sooner." and oddly enough, she wasn't mad.
"She is fine?" Luffy was the first to ask.
"No… I mean, it was probably some poison, some thorn. We have a lot of infection and it's going to be long days ahead." she explained, seeing the three of them look crestfallen. "I need you to cooperate during this period. No fights, no getting into trouble."
The next few days were like winding torture for Ace.
He knew he thought you were amazing and everything else that a boy so young could see in his first crush. But what was this agony in his chest? The need to keep peeking through the crack to see you there, breathing. The sudden idea of getting a gift for yourself. The worry that plagued him. Ace needed you to be okay. He had few reasons and meanings for his life, seeing you again had been the main one.
When Dadan said that you had woken up for a brief moment, he didn't rest until she let him come in and see you up close. Your pale face, your dry mouth, deep circles under your eyes. You needed to get out of that. But seeing your eyes blink and turn towards him. Oh, that was like a breath of life.
"Hey…" Ace tried to get your attention and saw your eyes close in front of him, once again. "You'll be fine."
"It's okay, you'll be fine, I promise. Dadan said you need to rest." he pointed out and let the jewel dance on his fingers before he placed it in your hand. "Here, for you."
"Ace?" even with your eyes closed, you were still awake and that was enough to awaken a small flame of hope within the boy. "I'll... die?"
"What is it?"
"A gift. A promise." he bent down, whispering even more quietly. "We'll always be together, okay? And next time, I promise to take better care of you."
"Thanks Ace." as soon as you felt him move away, you tried to hold on to what you could, realizing you had only grabbed a piece of cloth. "Please…Stay here."
"Of course, how foolish of me to leave without warning." He pretended to settle down next to you, sitting on the floor and taking your hand. "I promise not to leave your side."
He tried to keep his promise, he even tried to defy Dadan and remain there while the woman tried to drag him out of the room. Outside, Luffy and Sabo were as worried as he was, except they both didn't want to interrupt their brother with his concerns.
At great cost and with the excuse that he needed to help you bathe, Dadan managed to push Ace away. Forcing him to eat decently, to see sunlight, to interact, even if the boy did it with a frown.
It was two afternoons like this until Ace started to lose his patience. His furious footsteps approached the door and when he was about to open it, he was met with an unexpected sight. You there, standing, smiling in front of him.
"Hey, where are you going?" your voice - still not as excited and firm as before - asked and you barely had time to continue asking as Ace's arms circled you in a strong hug, so strong that your feet stopped finding the ground for a moment.
"You came back." he murmured and had your brief moment stolen by the two other brothers, who hugged each other next to you two.
"We thought you had died." Luffy found himself crying for a change, this time he didn't make a point of hiding it.
"Who said she died?" Sabo grumbled.
"You." the youngest retorted and they continued exchanging barbs.
You just enjoyed the comfort of being back with your group, your friends and Ace, who made you feel anxious being so close to you.
"You brats." Dadan arrived separating you, taking some care when pulling you from the boys' arms. "She's still fragile."
"Sorry." the three asked in unison.
"But she needs to sunbathe, take a walk to start regaining her energy." the eldest explained, part of her wanting to laugh when she saw the three pairs of attentive and worried eyes directed towards you and her. "You can't go far without getting into trouble."
"Yes ma'am." the three offered in unison again. "We promise not to let her almost die anymore." Sabo swore, striking the best pose possible.
Leaving you alone, Ace reached his hand towards you and as you moved closer to him, he could see the small golden ring on a pendant around your neck.
"Oh, that!" you started as soon as you saw his gaze towards the necklace. "The ring kept falling off my finger, so I found this chain in Dadan's things and decided to hang it up. Is that okay?"
"Yeah. Looks good on you." Ace insisted on giving you his hand to take and this time, you did so without hesitation. "I promise to keep an eye on you."
"I promise to pick you up. It's just until I have a decent boat and then it'll be you and me against the world." Ace said goodbye with watery eyes, just like you. Feeling that maybe this was the right moment, even after years of searching for such a moment, he moved closer to kiss you and saw you look away.
So the two of you walked together, little fingers intertwined.
-
"No." you punctuated with a brief sob, trying to wipe the tears from your own face. "I promise to wait for you and to be yours forever, as we already agreed. But that's only when you keep your promise and come back for me."
Feeling your feet freeze you in place and your mouth dry in anxiety, you saw him approach with almost slow steps, analyzing you from top to bottom. Waiting for a reaction.
The memory was the first thing that crossed your mind as soon as you saw a familiar face in that bar. He was bigger, stronger, and surrounded by people, but he was still as familiar as the last time you saw him.
Before you took the lead and went to him, you were noticed by someone who was with him, who pointed out the fact that a woman had been staring at him for so long.
"Is it really you?"
"I'm sorry, I broke my promise to wait for you." was the first thing you said as you felt his hands gently cup your face.
"You're here..." the voice came out like a small secret between the two of you. "Dadan said you left right after Luffy."
"I needed to find you, I mean, I broke a promise about waiting for you…" you raised your hand to your face and only then did Ace notice the ring he had given you. "If you want to give up…"
The taste on Ace's lips was mixed with alcohol and pure surprise, after all you would give him the chance to give up on his promise, to choose a life free of you.
"I will never give up on us." he pointed out, the two of you just ignored the screams of what you suspected were his crewmates. "I love you my pretty girl."

sabo luffy prompt if your still accepting them:
Luffy about Ace's death: it should have been me.
Sabo wide eyed and scared cups Luffys face: never ever say that. Don't even think it.
x
It lingers in the back of Sabo’s mind, in the furthest, darkest corners, as persistent and sticky as a spiderweb.
Luffy is his crybaby little brother, always will be. Sabo wasn’t there to watch him grow up, grow out of childish old habits, so the sight of that precious face crumpling and flooding with tears was familiar—expected, even. There in the underbelly of the colosseum, Sabo’s body remembered what his useless brain had forgotten, pure muscle memory guiding his hands up to catch the human cannonball without missing a beat. The act of it was tried and true, even now. Of course Luffy would fly into his arms, would cling to him and cry. Sabo’s job was to be bigger and stronger and hold him up for however long it took him to feel brave again.
He might have been afraid to approach Luffy at first, but it was a stupid thing to be afraid of. Anyone else might have had good reason to be petrified of meeting their only remaining family—of facing the condemnation or betrayal or hatred for not being there when they were needed most, for only showing their face now when it hardly mattered. It would be a scary thing, reaching out the thing you had thought lost, knowing that to reach out would mean to lose it for real, but to stay away forever would be unthinkable.
But holding Luffy, looking at him, Sabo’s brain remembered how little he had to fear from this person. His heart opened up, like a flower unfolding for the sun, because it was safe to open and be gentle here. Luffy would never think to blame him or hate him, not for Ace. Not for anything.
No, instead he would clutch at Sabo’s jacket with shaking hands, ruined chest heaving, and apologize.
“I was right there,” he sobbed. “He died right in front of me and I couldn’t save him.”
At the time, Sabo smiled, and said, “I’m grateful you’re alive,” and let Luffy cry himself out. He helped Luffy out of his silly competitor costume and rubbed at his sticky face with the hem of his own jacket until the smaller boy was laughing and wrestling to get away. Luffy’s friends were waiting for him, and he had a job to do, so they parted ways not long after meeting again.
Responsibility was an odd look on Sabo’s little brother, who used to find trouble in every single nook and corner of the mountain they grew up on like it was his job, but not a bad one. And when he ran off, shouting, “I’ll see you soon, Sabo! I swear!” Sabo knew he could pile oceans and mountains and decades on top of that promise and it would never break.
Entering the colosseum, Sabo’s mind was focused forward—Ace’s fruit was waiting, Luffy was counting on him, Dressrosa was about to become a warzone. He was very good at compartmentalizing, at doing what needed to be done, his mind, as Koala affectionately put it once, like an unforgiving steel trap.
But it lingered, that spiderweb thought; invisible except for when the light was just right, when the angle was perfect, when Sabo’s mind was clear and he had a moment to himself to breathe and noticed it cluttering up the corner.
Luffy apologized.
The chance to discuss it came eventually, when Sabo found himself at the end of an intel-gathering mission with news of the Straw Hats in the waters nearby. He cleared it with Dragon, endured Koala’s smug face when he let her know to go on without him, then backtracked to catch up to the ostentatious brigantine that was already famous in the New World.
Luffy’s crewmates are a friendly sort, and the Thousand Sunny as a whole is happy to have him aboard. Franky waves him ahead and jumps down onto his vessel to secure it himself, and Chopper and Carrot and Usopp all call out to Sabo cheerfully, more curious about him than anything. He returns greetings as he makes his way across the busy deck, something in his chest easing like a sigh of relief to know that this bright, beautiful place full of bright, beautiful people is his little brother’s home.
Zoro nods at him once, all the energy he has to spare for someone who isn’t one of his own, then tilts his head toward what must be the galley door.
“Surprise, surprise,” Sabo laughs, and makes his way to the kitchen.
It smells amazing, something rich and spicy wafting from the simmering pans on the stove. Luffy is sitting at the huge, scarred table, gnawing on a piece of dried meat and talking with his mouth full, while his skeleton musician strums something unobtrusive and cheerful on an acoustic guitar. Sanji is working diligently on what Sabo can only assume is dinner prep. The dangerous Trafalgar Law sits across the table from Luffy, with a book open in front of him that he appears to have largely given up on. He’s watching his fellow Supernova with dark, clinical eyes, but there’s much more warmth in them than Trafalgar is probably aware of.
Those eyes flick past Luffy as the door opens. When he sees Sabo, Trafalgar stands, picks up his book and his mug, says, “There’s no way I’m dealing with two of you,” and leaves through the other door.
“Fair enough,” Sanji says, which is rude, but not unfounded.
Luffy swallows his mouthful, turns in his seat, and then lights up like the dawn.
“SABO!” he shrieks, leaping over the back of his chair like one of the monkeys he grew up with back on Mt. Colubo, instead of getting up and going around it like a person.
Sabo is already laughing by the time he catches the armful of little brother, squeezing Luffy tight for a moment before playfully ruffling his hair and tussling with him. Brook the skeleton tips his massive tophat and leaves them to it, but Sanji clearly can’t abandon his multiple stations, even just for a few minutes. That’s all right. An audience of one is more than he could have hoped for with all the bodies currently on his brother’s ship, between his own people and the visiting allies.
“How have you been, Lu? Staying out of trouble?”
“For now!” Luffy says happily. “I bet our next adventure will be fun, though!”
His body is battered and bandaged, but he looks a lot better than the last time Sabo saw him, in that little hidden-away cottage in Dressrosa, the night after he and his crew won peace for a people they barely knew. He’s already looking forward to the next adventure.
Whatever Sabo did to deserve him in a past life, he’s grateful.
He gives Luffy a push back towards the table, and draws a stool up next to his. The dining hall is cozy, and a cup of something steaming and fragrant appears in front of him the second he sits down. Sanji only hums when Sabo calls his thanks, already halfway back to the kitchen proper. It’s either the worst place to start a potentially difficult conversation, or the best one.
“I’m here for a few days,” Sabo says, “if you can spare the room.”
“Of course!” Luffy declares. “Always room for Sabo! Sanji?”
“Your new friends left us pretty well-stocked,” the cook says without looking up from something complicated he’s doing with a knife and a fish the size of a small horse. “We could probably feed an army for a few weeks if we wanted to.”
Luffy looks up at Sabo with a glowing smile, as if to say ‘see?’ and Sabo reaches over to shove his hat down over his eyes.
“Thanks, Lulu.”
He’s glad he remembered the nickname, because just like when they were kids, Luffy is immediately outraged.
“DON’T CALL ME—”
“I did want to tell you something kind of important,” Sabo cuts in smoothly, grinning inwardly at Luffy’s flustered, frustrated face. “I’d rather say it now and get it out of the way then hang onto it for my whole visit. And after I’ve said it, if you’d rather I didn’t stay anymore, that’s okay, too. Your ship, your rules.”
Luffy’s expression clears to one of confusion. The sound of Sanji’s knife has slowed.
“Okay,” Luffy says. “What does Sabo want to tell me?”
Sabo has practiced this half a dozen times on the way here, but it’s still very difficult to start.
“When we met, back at the colosseum,” he says, “I was so sure you would be angry. I thought you’d hit me, at least. I deserved that much, right?”
Luffy’s brow furrows. “Why would I hit you?”
Taking a steadying breath, Sabo says, “Because I wasn’t there for you when you needed me. Because I only showed up two years later when it suited me, when I would get Ace’s fruit out of it. Because I let Ace—”
“You didn’t,” Luffy says loudly. “You didn’t let anything.”
“I didn’t do anything,” Sabo replies, wrestling with his voice to keep it even. “I didn’t help you.”
He watched the transponder recording a hundred times. He relives it every time he closes his eyes. The gaping hole in Ace’s chest, the blood on Luffy’s hands, his childish, frightened plea of Ace’s name, the wounded animal sound of pain and grief he made right up until his mind took mercy and shut his body down.
A nightmare. An actual documented living nightmare.
And Sabo wasn’t there, because the two of them were strangers to him, and he had more important things to do than wonder about the execution of Gol D. Roger’s son.
He should have flown to Luffy the second those memories flooded in. He should have turned heaven and earth upside down to find him. Instead he chose to be a coward.
Robin was kind, more so than he deserved, and the two of them spent dozens of late nights in Baltigo trading stories about that same wild, relentless little person who owned the most real estate in both of their hearts. She filled the black hole inside him with better stories than the one in the papers, sun-filled stories, about triumphs and hijinks and heartaches and unconquerable love. She showed him the newsprint photo that he’d already looked at no less than a million times, of her beloved captain paying his respects to the fallen at Marineford, only this time she pointed out the message on his arm.
“I want to run to him right now,” she said. “I want to break everything and everyone in my way and not stop until I’m beside him again. But he wants me to wait. He isn’t ready yet.”
Sabo stared at the photo, mindlessly rubbing his finger over the 3D2Y he hadn’t understood until someone who actually knew his brother explained it to him. Robin let him have a moment, her eyes knowing and grave and full of a sympathy he didn’t think he deserved.
“It’s okay not to be ready,” she said. “Just don’t make him wait too long.”
Now, Sabo says, “I want you to know that you can be angry. You can yell and scream at me and blame me and that would be—it would be allowed, okay? Even if you just want me to go away, or you don’t want to see me for a little while. It’s all on your terms. Just don’t pretend. Not with me. Okay?”
Luffy’s face is blank and Sabo isn’t sure what to make of it. He dares to reach out and lay a hand on Luffy’s slim shoulder, impossibly small for the weight of the things it carries.
“Okay, Lu?”
“I’m not pretending,” Luffy says, loud and sudden. “I don’t do that, it’s dumb. I was happy to see Sabo, because I thought he was dead but he was alive and it was a miracle. Robin told me you had ameesia so you forgot all about me and it wasn’t your fault. I dunno about that stuff but if Robin said it, it must be true. It would be scary not to remember important things. I bet it hurt a lot when you finally remembered and it was already too late. I bet it was really lonely. I would never hate Sabo or hit him or blame him for that.”
Sabo’s next breath shudders, and the one after that, and he has to bite the inside of his lip hard. When he’s certain he won’t fall apart, he says, “Robin only told you that afterwards. You didn’t know I had amnesia when you first saw me.”
“You’re my Sabo,” Luffy stresses, like Sabo is being particularly dense for no good reason. “I’ll always be happy to see you first.”
It’s one of those Luffy-isms, Sabo thinks, leaning forward to put his face in his hands. One of those unexplainable, unquantifiable things that so many people hang their faith on. It would make sense for Luffy to be angry, because grief is heavy and horrible and doesn’t disappear into a fine mist just because something good happens. But there are so many things better than anger for him to hold onto instead. He’s surrounded by better things.
A plate is set down somewhere in front of him and he lifts his head. Sanji lingers after the delivery this time, slouching into a chair and pushing the platter of lemon curd cookies and fresh-from-the-oven turnovers to the brothers’ side of the table.
Luffy beams and picks up a turnover, but he doesn’t eat it right away. He turns it over in his hands a few times, warm against his fingertips, and begins to shred the flaky pastry into pieces.
Sanji sits up a little straighter in his chair, as if an alarm has gone off in the back of his head. Sabo is right there with him, because he’s never seen Luffy deliberate with food before, not ever. Especially not something home-cooked by someone he loves.
“If Sabo is angry,” Luffy says slowly, “he can tell me, too.”
“What?” he says faintly.
Looking at his hands, at the dessert falling apart into a loose pile on his plate, the young captain tells them plainly, “Ace died back then, instead of me. He might have lived if he didn’t save me from the magma man. Everyone was there to rescue him and ended up rescuing me instead. Because I wasn’t strong enough. I’m glad I didn’t die, because I still have my nakama, and we still have promises to keep. But I bet that some people, who fought in that war for Ace, who loved him and didn’t even know me, wish that it had happened differently.” He still doesn’t look up, expression unreadable as he burns the tips of his fingers on the hot rhubarb filling dripping from the mangled turnover, when he adds, “Sabo loves us both, but he loved Ace longer.”
If Sabo had been stabbed with sea stone, it would have hurt less. If he had burned with the Grey Terminal, or drowned at sea in front of the Celestial Dragons, it would have hurt less than this.
He’s on his feet before he’s aware of moving, seat tipping over and rolling away behind him. His heart is racing, he can feel the steam start to lift off of his superheated skin as Ace’s fire inside him begins to react.
“Don’t say that,” he says, too loud, almost a shout. “Don’t ever say that. Don’t even think it.”
Luffy finally looks at him. His mouth is set but his eyes are wide, and Sabo may have twelve years to catch up on, may have failed both his brothers at every possible turn up until now, but he still knows what his little brother’s face looks like when he’s seeking reassurance.
How many thunderstorms and bad dreams did they weather together back on Goa? How many times had tiny hands shaken Sabo awake, only for him to look up into these eyes exactly?
Back then they were both children, so Sabo would make fun of him, or he would groan and roll his eyes, and they would have a hushed argument about it, but ultimately Luffy would fall asleep safe under a shared blanket, the thunder or the nightmare the farthest thing from his mind. Sabo never regretted it, even when Ace laughed at him in the morning.
The body remembers. He’s reaching automatically, and holding Luffy’s face in his hands. He isn’t afraid of burning him, because Ace’s fire would never burn him.
“I wouldn’t trade you for anything,” he says. “Not for anything. It doesn’t work that way. If I ever had to choose one or the other, you or him, I’d kill whoever made the rules and choose you both.” Unspoken, forever unsaid, is the knowledge that he and Ace would always put Luffy first, because that’s an older brother’s prerogative. Luffy wouldn’t understand it, so Sabo simply says, “I loved Ace longer, but I don’t love him more.”
Luffy nods, his eyes glassy, the firm line of his mouth beginning to wobble. Sanji snatches the plate and the messy turnover scraps away with a bitten-off sound, stalking back into the kitchen.
Reeling, feeling somewhat as if he’s backing away from the perilous edge of a five-hundred-foot fall, Sabo releases Luffy only to drag him forward by the shoulders into an embrace instead. Luffy scrambles to his feet to return it properly, wrapping rubbery arms around Sabo that loop a few extra times. Sabo buries his face in the top of Luffy’s head and breathes him in; sea-salt, warm grass, everything touched by sunshine.
My brother, he thinks, with all the same wonder as the first time he thought it.
“And if you ever say anything like that ever again,” he goes on, “I’ll fly here from wherever I am in the world and kick your ass.”
“You can try!” Luffy says, leaning back to look up at him. He’s beaming, untouched by everything he’s lived through—still, in part, that same stubborn little kid that Sabo and his best friend first met in the jungle, who decided they were all better off together. “I’m stronger now. I could probably beat you this time!”
“You think so, huh?”
“No fighting in my kitchen, idiots,” Sanji snaps, striding back to the table with a big dessert bowl in hand. “Do I look like I have time to babysit? If you’re gonna wrestle, take it outside.”
He all but slams the bowl in front of his captain, revealing the deconstructed turnover folded into fresh vanilla ice cream and drizzled with caramel. It’s the most aggressive display of affection Sabo thinks he’s ever seen, and he grew up with Koala.
“Ooh, thanks Sanji! I would have eaten it the other way, too, but your ice cream is the best!”
“Of course it is,” the chef says shortly. “Eat it before it melts. In fact, go eat it in front of Zoro, it’ll be funny.”
“Sanji’s weird,” Luffy says, full of good cheer, but he hauls the bowl out the door with him and makes a beeline straight for where he somehow knows his first mate will be. “C’mon, ‘Bo, I want you to meet Sunny!”
He lets Luffy get a head-start out the door, listens to him join the rest of his crew on the deck, their voices rising together gladly. He picks up his chair and rights it, scooting it back into place at the table. He just needs a minute.
“None of us were there, either,” Sanji says abruptly. “We all wish we were. Would’ve given just about anything to be there with him. But by the time we got the news it was too late.” He crosses his arms, leans back against the counter, and says, “You can imagine what a failure that felt like. Leaving our captain out to dry like that.”
“He would never hold that against you,” Sabo says immediately, knowing the truth of it in his blood and bones.
Sanji nods, looking Sabo in the eye as he agrees, “No, he wouldn’t.”

In response to @craneworms post about wanting more pining Luffy that crossed my dash I realized that I also want that and I was on a roll so here you go
****************
Ace tilts his head and narrows his eyes. Sanji is quick to take notice.
“Something wrong with the drink?”
“Hm?” Their temporary guest glances at him for a second before shaking his head and focusing on the lower deck again. “No, it’s great. Thanks.”
That was a distracted dismissal if Sanji has ever heard one but he is a curious guy and so he lingers next to Luffy’s big brother at the reiling and follows his gaze. There is nothing particularly interesting happening. Nami and Vivi are studying the map for their next course and Usopp and Chopper chase Karoo around in circles with something that looks like a turkey baster. That better not be Sanji’s good one, or they can swim the rest of the way to Alabaster!
A little off to the side Zoro, the big show off, trains with one of his gigantic dumbbells. He has taken his shirt off as if anyone is interested in seeing that. Ugh. Luffy sits on the reiling close by and stares at his first mate with a single minded focus that he usually reserves for food.
Ace stares at his brother with much the same amount of concentration. As if he is looking at a puzzle he can’t quite figure out.
“Is he…doing that a lot?”
“Doing what?” Sanji asks and in that moment Luffy must have said something funny because Zoro pauses in his routine and laughs loud and clear. His whole body is shaking with it and at the end of it he grins at his captain and fucking winks.
Luffy’s shoulders raise up to his ears and he squirms in his seat. His hands wander up to his brightly blushing face where he squishes his own cheeks with a goofy smile on his lips. His eyes dart around from left to right as if he can’t decide where he should direct his gaze to before he resolves the issue by grabbing his hat and pulling the brim down until only his stupid grin is visible.
“Oh.” Sanji drawls. “You mean the pining?”
Ace, who’d just taken a sip of his drink, spits it right back out. Sanji wants to say something about wasting food but the fire user is coughing and spluttering too hard to listen.
“Pining?” he gasps. “What? Luffy…my little… what are you-?”
Down below Luffy laughs at something Zoro has said in response and it’s the kind of exaggerated laugh that screams ‘This was not funny at all but I want you so bad.’
Sanji should know. He tries that all the time.
Ace looks like he is actively having an aneurysm right this moment and if he weren’t such a cool and collected guy, Sanji would be worried that he’s about to burn Zoro alive.
“Oh yeah. Be glad you don’t have to see this all the time. It’s kinda pathetic.” Well, it’s more adorable than pathetic but you won’t catch Sanji dead admitting that. It’s suddenly getting quite hot at his side and it looks like Ace’s skin is glowing from the inside with an unholy fire. Sanji might not like the Mosshead, but he doesn’t want him dead! Also, Luffy’s pouting might kill him before the Alabasta sun can. “Hey man, it’s just a small innocent crush. The idiot is too dumb to pick up on that anyway and-”
Zoro slowly bends down to pick up his dumbbell and he so fucking obviously moves his ass into Luffy’s line of sight that he might as well have painted a bullseye on the tight pants. The moment Luffy’s eyes wander down and his tongue darts out to lick at his lips, Sanji knows it’s over.
“Try not to burn the ship down.” he mutters and turns away amidst confused shouting, Ace’s screaming about his brother's innocence and Zoro cursing up a storm. “It was nice knowing you, Marimo. Kinda.”

I know Fullmoon is done, but can I see a continuation where it focuses on female Reader's pregnancy to giving birth. This one focuses on reader's pregnancy and her husband as wereleopard. Law's close friends are also worried about female reader, checking on her so Law wouldn't do something reckless. Luffy, Ace, and Sabo makes an appearance. There's some hints of Ace or Sabo still have feelings for female reader. Maybe after that, another lemon and love making between Law and female reader, after giving birth to twins or triplets.
Full moon
Trafalgar Law x fem!reader
A/n: sorry I was kinda busy, just got my grades and idk if I should laugh or cry- but oh well, also for those new here, here's the first fic:
Full moon
My masterlist~
Tumblr media
After finding out they were having twins, a girl and a boy, (y/n) was shocked to find out Law had a small notebook with baby names.
It has girls, boys, and even gender neutral names. He claims he researched the meanings of the names, as well as some names from his and her family that might be a good suit.
She just smiled as he explains everything to her.
But one stuck out the best, in Law's opinion, Corazon and Clarabelle. Corazon being his late uncle, and Clarabelle being, well, it just sounded cute to him.
It was rare to see him really excited that he had a mini zoomie session as he talked about the names, walking around the living room as she watched from the couch.
In the end, they picked the name Corazon and Clarabelle.
A few weeks after that though, Law came home, tired as usual.
"I'm home..." He sighed as he entered
"Law!" She smiled as she walked up to him and kissed his cheek.
She felt his hand rest on her growing belly and lovingly rubbed the top before kissing her forehead
"Hi (y/n)!" Shachi and penguin, his closest friends, called with a smile.
"Oh? Why didn't you tell me they were coming? I would've made more dinner..." She smiled as Law shook his head
"It's alright, they're just visiting. I'll set the table Hun" he smiled as he left to go set the table.
"Come in." (Y/n) nods.
They soon sat down at the living room, and she can tell the two were kinda anxious.
"Do you... Like... Know about his...?" Shachi started, kinda...
"His...? Wereleopard form...?" She tilted her head as the two nodded, "ahh... Yes... I do know, actually... That's the reason I'm pregnant..." She mumbled. As if she's kinda annoyed.
"Oh." The two hummed.
"We won't be too long though, wereleopards are known to be... Protective of their significant others, especially if they're carrying their child. We'd just check in here and there, considering he can be a bit bratty at his time of the moon cycle." Penguin cooed a little.
"I am so not!" Law yelled from the dining room making her laugh.
"He so is..." The two whispered
It made her chuckle, it was nice knowing that law has friends that truly cared about his well being.
A few days after that, Law had applied for a leave. One that's kinda long. It extends from now to at least 5 months after she gives birth, it was kinda shocking that the hospital he works in let's them do all those things.
Only for her to find out he compiled all the leaves he can grab unto and put them all in one single order that he'd have a plenty of time.
Law held her hand as he pushed the cart of groceries while she looked at the list they needed to buy.
"Do we need to buy baby stuff...? Next month is your final month after all..." Law suggests.
"Ah-! I almost forgot...!" She gasped, "but good thing the room is ready... Thanks for that honey" she smiled and kissed his cheek.
His tail must've been wagging if it was out.
"Oh? (Y/n)!" They heard someone call from behind them.
It was Sabo and Ace, her childhood friends... And Luffy strapped to what seemed like a harness being held by Axe so that he wouldn't wander off.
Luffy is already 17 and yet he's being kept on a child-like harness... Kinda accurate.
"Oh, hello Sabo, Ace" she smiled as she squeezed Law's hand when she felt him start to get protective.
The three, well two since Luffy is just being dragged, walked up to them.
"Doing groceries as well?" Sabo smiled as he grabbed Luffy from trying to climb the shelves to get the ships on the higher shelf.
"Mhmm..." She smiled with a nod, "looks like Luffy has not changed a thing"
"Would he change?" Ace said as him and Sabo looked at each other before looking at her.
"Absolutely not" the two said in perfect unison.
Law let go of her hand and placed it on her shoulder, pulling her close to him.
"I can see you're... Pregnant." Sabo hummed, "when's your due?"
"Next month... Actually" she shyly laughed
"Oh? Then you should be resting." Ace suggested
"Nah. I wanted to buy a few things, and right after, we want to buy baby stuff" she smiled as she looked at Law who was glaring at them, "right love?"
"What- oh, yeah... Yeah... But we still need you to rest" Law says, "after buying baby stuff, I want you to lay in bed. Alright?"
"But Law... There's so much to do"
"I can handle it. You should rest."
"Oh alright..." She pouted
"So... Is it a girl or a boy?" Ace asked
"Both, actually. We're having twins" she happily said.
"Oh...! What're their names-"
"I think that's enough talking. (Y/n)... Love, we need to finish shopping so that once we get home, you can rest" Law hummed.
She only chuckled, "I understand..." She smiled before turning to them, "we need to go now. Have fun shopping with Luffy, oh and by the way, he escaped the leash."
"What?!"
...
"That's was tiring..." She sighed as she sat down on the couch after helping law tidy up and decorate the baby's room.
"Do you need some water? Snacks, perhaps?" Law hummed as he sat down next to her, his fuzzy ears and tail out.
"No... I just need you" she smiled as she snuggled up to him
He smiled softly as well and letting her cuddle real close.
"Once you give birth... I'll stay right beside you until you get better.." he whispered and kissed her forehead
"I don't doubt that..." She smiled softly
Timeskip...
She just finished washing the dishes when a sudden pain hit her, when she looked down she saw blood running down her leg.
(Y/n) called Law loudly and as soon as she did, he was right beside her, calling the ambulance and helping her breathe as they load her up.
Law held her hand tightly all throughout, he didn't even leave her side even as she was delivering his children.
When he insisted to be there on the delivery room, the nurses were kinda surprised since most father's they've encountered so far opted to stay out.
But nevertheless, they let him in.
And he did a great job being the perfect husband that he is.
Talking to her while she's in pain, rubbing her hand gently as she push through the pain of giving birth twice.
As she laid on her hospital bed, Law couldn't help but be mesmerized at his children.
How small they were and how fragile they looked.
"Law..." She called him, slightly weak as he came next to her and held her hand
"You need something honey? Water, food, anything?" He asks
She smiled softly, "can I... See them again?"
He nods as he helps her sit up, knowing how even sitting is painful for someone who just gave birth due to the stitches.
He first handed his baby girl, Clarabelle. Then his baby boy, Corazon.
Clarabelle looked exactly like Law. Silver eyes and his raven hair, and Corazon looked like her, with her (h/c) hair and (e/c) eyes...
They were absolutely perfect in his eyes.
Someone then knocked on the door, it was his friends, Shachi and penguin, still in their scrubs.
It's apparently their break so they decided to visit.
Law didn't let them hold the baby, he's a bit protective of his little "cubs".
"They look so cute..." Shachi smiled, before backing off, "well... Take good care of them now, Law. We need to go back to work. We can try and help around?"
"No need... You guys are already busy enough" (y/n) smiled
"It's alright, really" penguin nodded, "but if that's what you want... Then... Just call us if you need anything"
"Thanks you two."
After she said that, Law ushered them out.
It made them all laugh at how protective he's already being.
He's really REALLY on ethe edge at the moment, too.
Since the possibility of the curse being passed down unto them is still unknown. But either way, Law knows how to deal with it and help them.
(Y/n) also knows that he'd try his best to help his children, she would, too. of course.
Two years then passed by in a blink. The newborns now small toddlers. Crawling and babbling about.
As the two toddlers were playing in the living room, (y/n) and Law were at the couch, silently watching them.
It seems like Clarabelle, despite looking exactly like Law, was already acting opposite of him, and Corazon is a shy little baby.
Law sighed with a smile and kissed her cheek.
"Whatever it is, no." She crossed her arms with a laugh.
"Oh come on..." He pouted.
He's been nagging for another one for a few days now, it doesn't exactly irritate her, but she's not sure if she's ready yet. Considering the house was only big enough for them.
"Please...? We can... Try" Law hummed and hugged her real tight, "it's full moon tonight, too~"
"Oh shut up" she laughed once more.
"Aww..." He pouted playfully before placing his head on her shoulder, "they look so perfect..."
"They do, don't they?" She smiled softly

Ok I have thoughts and I'm gonna put em here in a clumsy outline narrative format bc i got a headache :\ :
The minute Crocodile's allowed in the room he sand drifts over to Ace's bedside because he just can't get there fast enough. Maybe Luffy was allowed visitors and obviously awake before Ace or something so he's been able to hug and hold Luffy and fuss over him. Luffy could be sleeping now, and Crocodile had fussed over the blankets and shoulders and neck and feet because "he might get cold" and "there's not enough blankets to keep his feet warm". He'd brushed his hair back until it was greasy and someone had to physically remove him so Luffy could get some rest without being stared at constantly and adjusted every two seconds.
He was sulking in the hallway when Ace was given the all-clear for visitors. He had been tempted to defy the young doctor and slip through the vents or cracks in the door if Ace's life wasn't already hanging on by a half fray-ed thread. That's the only reason Crocodile was looming over the doors to the room Ace was in. And then they opened, and Law came out. And he left the door open and unlocked. He didn't say much, just mumbled about how "there's not much more he can do" and that "it's up to Fire Fist now" and that Crocodile should "be careful with him".
Trafalgar hadn't even finished speaking before grains of sand were ripping through the stale submarine air towards his eldest son. He understood why Trafalgar had warned him, why he'd warned caution. Ace looked dead; he really did. His usually tanned skin was ashen and cracked, marred with reddish brown, purple, and black stains, some peeking out from under thick layers of bandages.
He let this happen. He was right fucking there with Ace and Luffy and he couldn't do shit. He was fine. Barely fucking scratched. And his sons...Luffy's scarred for life and had almost died and Ace...fuck, Ace was actively dying. He had died. Trafalgar had brough him back again, and again...and once more. It should be him. He's the one who should have one foot in the grave, not his child. Never his child--any of his children.
For the first time in a long time, Crocodile wished he had both hands, if only to feel for himself Ace's pulse, breath, and faint warmth--proof he was alive and here and that there was still a chance. He was exhausted himself, having no energy to cry or scream, or even raise his voice.
He looked over Ace, facing the consequences of his failure. He failed to protect them. Dragon would be furious. Sabo would...god, what would Sabo think?
An oxygen mask distorted the lower portion of his face, doing a shit job of hiding the dark, sunken circles around Ace's eyes. He looked fucking exhausted despite having been still for so long. The spatter of freckles were still dusted across Ace's skin as they'd always been, like nothing was wrong, like everything was fine and right in the world, like everything wasn't cold and dark now, like Ace wasn't fucking dying.
It's ridiculous, really, that it wasn't the blood, bandages, bruises, oxygen mask, gray skin, or sunken cheeks that breaks Crocodile, but freckles. Ace's freckles that wouldn't ever leave his skin because they were quite literally part of his body--like his ribs and lungs and fucking spine and heart and blood and bones and skin and-
Crocodile attempted a deep breath, focusing on Ace's own mechanical breathing--the breathing that somehow did better than his own pathetic stuttered gasping attempt.
Crocodile frowned as he traced Ace's features with his vision. His son's hair was a mess of wild, dirty waves and matted, greasy streaks. Didn't look like they'd even let him shower in prison, like they'd wanted his body as it would be after death--filthy, rotten, and disgusting.
He reached out his hand slowly and gently--oh so gently--brushed a strand of hair from Ace's eye. Suddenly that's all he could do, detecting another wild frizz of hair, sooty matt, or greasy wave sticking to Ace's skin. Ace would hate that. Would hate that it was tickling his face and curled in his ear and that his baby sideburns weren't straight and that his bangs weren't equally framing his face. He'd hate that his hair part was uneven and mussed, that hair was even touching his ears, that it was curled under his jaw onto his neck and tickling his shoulders, that it was sticking up above his head and staining the pillow with a black streak. He'd hate that his colics were acting up and springing his curls straight out.
Crocodile brushed strand after strand of hair away from his face, tucking them behind his ears, smoothing the sides, and swiping a loose eyelash away.
Oh god, the blankets. They weren't even covering Ace's chest, pulled down to his hips and barely covering his feet. Crocodile unfolded the scratchy blanket and brought it up to Ace's neck, covering the already blood-soaked bandages as much for his own comfort as it was for Ace's. He reluctantly moved away from Ace's shattered chest towards the end of the bed to a cover his legs and feet fully. Crocodile lingered, running his hand over each shin and rubbing circles into the soles of his feet.
Ace's feet and ankles always hurt from the scrunched crouched perches and harsh jumps he did--ever since he was little. He used to spot little scars and cuts on his feet when he first came to Crocodile, but they'd since faded and paled. But Crocodile knew they were there. He knew because he was Ace's father. His Baba. His Baba that failed him.
Crocodile took another breath and looked around for another blanket. Ace would be so cold; he needed to be warm. He couldn't get better if he wasn't warm. Without a single blanket or sheet in sight, Crocodile drug a stool over to Ace's side, perching on the uncomfortable, small metal circle. He reached his useless hook across Ace's chest and rested the first bit of skin and muscle of his arm on Ace's bicep. If there weren't any blankets here, he'd keep Ace warm himself.
Hair had been blown on Ace's skin again, dusty grains of grime marring his skin all because Crocodile looked away. He let this happen too. With the same care as before, he reached up to brush his hair away, smooth it down with gentle pets, and thumb the dirty off his cheek.
Crocodile frowned as it didn't budge, liking the pad of his thumb and rubbing at the dirty spot once more. Nothing. Trying again, this time more firmly pressing, his frown furrowed as he made no difference. Oh. It was a bruise. Tearing through his chest hadn't been enough, they had to bruise his son's face, too? His little boy? His young, barely alive, beautiful, intelligent, strong boy who had just started living his life?
Brow pinched and creased in concern, mouth tilted and tight with sorrow, Crocodile shook his head silently. It should be him. Raking his gaze over Ace's face once more, he realized the blanket had slipped. It wasn't covering his shoulders and collarbones. And the corners weren't draping over the bed, allowing drafts to slip under the pitiful cloth. The so-called blanket wasn't even tucking in around Ace. He tucked the fabric in along Ace's side, pulling the blanket up to his neck, and straightened out creases and folded corners so it would fully cover Ace's sleeping frame--not, not sleeping, dying. Ace's dying frame.
Crocodile cupped his son's cheek again, stroking his temple, brow, and cheek with his thumb. He eased his head down on Ace's shoulder lightly, careful not to press on any of his injuries. This way he could hear his heartbeat, feel his breath, and see the little puffs of air against the plastic mask.
He wasn't sure how long he sat there, head resting on his baby's shoulder and hand giving the only soothing comfort he could right now, but he wouldn't be moving for a long time, not until they reached Dragon.
---------
Law leaned against the doorway, watching a father mourn a half-dead son. He'd done all he could but...only time would tell. Time and Ace's will. He arched a singular brow as the ex-warlord fussed with the blankets again, smoothing them and tucking them around Ace's shoulders exactly as they had been.
He averted his gaze as Crocodile lowered his head on Fire Fist's shoulder and cupped his son's face. It seemed too intimate of a moment to witness, like it wasn't his place to him to see. After a few moments, when Law hadn't heard anything, he peered up once more. Neither of them had moved--Ace too drugged up and body not able to support an awake brain, Crocodile frozen. No, not frozen, sleeping.
Law snagged a pen from his pocket and switched it with the father's heavy fur coat, stepping silently over to the pair.
He peeked under the blankets and checked Ace's vitals--still stable as they could be--before draping the coat over Crocodile's shoulders. He'd leave them be, they both needed their rest. Law took once last look before closing the doors. If he was certain about one thing in this world and one thing only, it was that Crocodile loved his sons more than anything or anyone in all of creation.
-----
Lol i lied have a whole ass story ig.
IM IN LOVE WITH UR LATEST ART (the on where Crocodile holds Luffy AND especially where he's with Ace)
it's very sweet and precious. I'm wondering if Crocodile fusses over him as best he can. Like I have this picture in my head of him obsessively smoothing his his from his face or fixing his blankets for the THIRD time in like fifteen minutes
and maybe when he's a little more stable, like he crawls into. bed to cradle him, idk I feel like he would fuss over him as much as he could so he wouldn't feel helpless.
and then I'm wondering...how their reunion goes after Ace wakes up? Like did he visit Ace when he was with iva and Dragon and recovering before he woke up? did he struggle to leave him? what does Luffy know? I have so many thoughts and questions and I love the stinky child au with my whole heart and soul <3
Thank you!
I love the idea of Crocodile fussing over him...! ;w; I think once Ace is stable enough Law is taking him to Momoiro where he'll either wake up or he won't. There's not much more Law can do for him.
I don't think Crocodile could bear to visit him and just watch him for months, hoping that he'll wake up. After Luffy has decided to train with Rayleigh Crocodile probably goes into the new world. He too has to keep moving, has to keep busy, can't think about his children out there in a world that is going to get more and more dangerous to them.
But when he hears that Ace woke up, he's going to travel to him right away! (I haven't drawn this reunion yet, partially because I cannot make up my mind if Ace will have lost his devil fruit and what he's going to do now. Will he join Luffy's crew? Join the Revolutionary Army? Join Cross Guild? Get a new crew? Many options...!)
And either Luffy doesn't know that Ace woke up or Dragon tells him (I assume that depending on what his devil fruit is he can fly.)
I am happy that you like the Stinky Child AU! I do too! And there are still so many things to explore in comic or fanfic form! ;A; I'm always open for ideas for this AU~

Hi there! It’s nice to see a op blog, if I can requests could you do a fic/hc where reader cuddles Luffy after having a bad day? It can platonic if you don’t do romance for him
Have a nice day
authors note : im very happy to be here ! <3 and i kept it in between , i personally hc luffy as aro / ace but i know lots of people view him romantically so , here’s a romantic esque one <33 hope you enjoy ! thanks for the request , have a very lovely day <3 + headcanons are general but the oneshot takes place during Enies Lobby <3
Luffy Cuddling Headcanons ( Upset Reader )
• Luffy can be rather clueless, especially when it comes to reading emotions. So, he can take a bit to catch on but once he does, he’ll do whatever it takes to make you smile again. No man left behind, as they say.
• He definitely brings food when you two go to bed to cuddle. Food comforts Luffy and always makes him smile, perhaps it comforts you as well!
• Luffy is a goof ball but he’s incredibly understanding, he won’t push you to talk about what had happened during your day if you don’t feel comfortable with such. He’s more focused on fixing up your day then making you relive and talk about the very thing that ruined your day.
• He’ll certainly tell you a lot of funny stories about his day. Luffy knows how much you like his ridiculous antics with his friends. He’ll certainly ramble about something idiotic him and Usopp did whilst he snuggles you close, tangling his hands in your hair.
• Also might do funny things involving his gomu gomu no mi, wether that be stretching his face to make himself look utterly ridiculous.
• Or he’ll use it to explains his arms, embracing you far more then usual, letting his arms stretch over you over and over again, squeezing onto you.
• As soon as you laugh or smile, Luffy might get a bit too excited. What can i say? He loves seeing other people smiling! But if you aren’t in the mood to laugh, he’s fine just laying in silence while you just sink into his warmth or perhaps even cry.
• If you are that upset to the point of crying, Luffy will for once mellow out, not bouncing off the walls and actually giving you a breather. Luffy still struggles with concentrating and sitting still but he’ll certainly do it to the best of his abilities for you.
• If the day is still young and far ahead of you two, Luffy will allow you to wear his straw hat the whole day. It’s special treatment, truly. But he knows how much people enjoy sharing articles of clothing and items with their s/o’s.
Luffy x Upset! Reader Cuddling Oneshot
You were tired, so very tired. You could hardly get any sleep within the sea train, wether it be the amount of unfamiliar faces, the sound of the storm that wreaked havoc upon the ocean or the thought of one of your most beloved ship mates being killed at the hand of the World Government. You wanted nothing more then to just sleep, to forget the cruelty of the world for even a brief moment.
It was late, utter darkness being the only thing in view if you peaked outside of the trains small windows. Most of the people in the train had fallen asleep, all segregated in their own indivual corners.
You glanced around the singular cart, your face a bit red from crying so much earlier. With what happened to Usopp in the beginning of your journey, to what was happening to Robin now.. It was all too heartbreaking, truly.
Your eyes eventually landed upon what they had been searching for, your weak legs leading you over to the boy. Luffy had been feeling the worst out of you all, you knew that. As a captain, having two people abandon the crew in such a short time must’ve hurt.
“Luffy?” Your voice was below a whisper as you kneeled down to the half asleep pirate. You felt awful for waking him but you wouldn’t have enough strength to go on if you didn’t sleep and lord knew you could only sleep if you were with the person you loved most.
Luffy pushed his back up, rounded eyes looking at you. He smiled happily, even if he was half asleep. You admired that about Luffy, how enthused he could be, even in the worst circumstances. What a sweetheart.
“Can i sit here...with you? I cant sleep and i-“ You fumbled your speech for an excuse, desperately wanting to cover how clinging you would’ve sounded. You were pushed close to him by the sudden force of Luffy’s hand, your face falling into his shoulder.
“Of course!” Luffy didn’t seem to have much care for the other passengers but thankfully, his chipper tone hadn’t woken anyone. Luffy was happy to help you, he wanted you to feel the best you could. Not just for the upcoming battle to capture Robin from Cipher Pol 9 but for the sake of your own well being. Luffy wanted nothing more then to keep his crew happy, that would always be his top priority. Especially when it came to you, he never wanted to see you upset, never again.
Your eyes fluttered with the drag of exhaustion, snuggling against the red vest that Luffy wore. He smelt like the food you had all eaten for dinner. It wasn’t as perfectly presented as Sanji’s usual food but that didn’t matter, it still was prepared with love by one of your fellow crew members. Quality didn’t matter right now, not to anyone. All that mattered was love and sincerity.
“What type of captain would i be if i left you to be weak, Y/n?” Luffy gave you that smile he always wore, his eyes shut as he giggled quietly. Even as he laughed, you could tell he was being serious.
You let out a delicate sigh against his shoulder, growing more relaxed against Luffy. Even with the sound of the train tracks and the crackle of lightening, you could only focus on the young man you rested upon. “Right..”
Tears laced your eyes ever so slightly. This was the first bit of peace you all had obtained since arriving to Water 7. With what happened with Mayor Iceburg, Franky, Usopp, Galley La and then Robin... things had been a mess in such a short amount of time. But right now, it felt as if all of that wasn’t real, as if it were a figment of your imagination.
“Thank you, Luffy.” You said, voice soft and full of your affections. The only place you could feel comfortable within such a storm was in the presence of Luffy, within the arms of the rubber pirate.

sabo only has to shiver once for ace to undo the scarf from his neck a little bit and wrap the extra around sabo's own. it pulls them closer together, shoulders pressed through their layers, and the heat that runs up sabo's neck to his face is something he can't blame on the cold.
he lets out a nervous laugh but doesn't do anything else. the bleachers are still cold but it hardly matters anymore. his head tilts to look at ace, meeting the eyes already watching him close.
"okay?" he asks. just to make sure. he says it quietly, even among the press of bodies. just for sabo.
"yeah," sabo mutters, turning away again. down on the field, the home team is getting ready to defend in the first inning. it's easier to watch them move around than it is to think about being so obviously together with ace where everyone can see. a player waving up at the stands gets his attention, if only because ace raises a hand to wave right back. he squints. "is that luffy?"
"that would be him," ace answers. "it's hard to tell from so far away, but the number matches."
nine, then, sabo thinks, committing the number to memory. it's funny, actually, how he's met luffy so many times, and yet he's never been to one of his games until now.
his phone buzzes but he ignores it to wave back, when ace nudges him with his shoulder. luffy claps his hands together over his head and then focuses on his teammates again.
"sabo!"
sabo jumps at the call of his name. he looks down the aisle to see two of his classmates at the base of the stairs. they're all smiles and grins, looking between him and ace, and sabo forces himself to smile back the best he can. he waves back when bonney does so first. they must take this as an invitation, because koala pulls them up the stairs and crams them into the empty space to sabo's immediate left.
"someone doesn't check their messages," bonney says from behind koala's shoulder.
sabo blinks, one hand already moving to his phone. "was it important?"
"no." she waves him off. "i'm just teasing you."
"hi, ace," koala says, bending to see ace from past sabo.
"yo," he returns. "you look warm."
her eyes narrow. "really? i could say the same to you."
"oh, this?" ace picks at his end of the scarf and sabo sits up straight. his eyes find the field, suddenly finding it very interesting to watch both teams line up.
bonney gets koala in the side. "hey, leave them alone."
"like you aren't doing the same thing."
they start bickering and sabo tunes them out, focused instead on the way ace's hand reaches into his pocket to wrap around sabo's own. he turns his head a little, careful not to collide with ace, and blinks owlishly at him.
"cold?" ace asks, stilling from where he'd been rubbing his thumb over sabo's knuckles.
"no, no, it's fine." sabo has to face forward again, feeling like he might be blinded by the sight of ace if he keeps staring. the girls giggle on his other side and his lips purse, but he doesn't pull away. he scoots closer, actually, knocking one knee to ace's own.
"hey," ace starts, waiting until the first batter is up to do so. he slides his hand out of sabo's pocket, angling his body a little in sabo's direction. "are you still tired?"
"nah," sabo replies. he'd popped in a piece of energy gum when they first arrived to the field. it's run its course, now, leaving him wide awake. "why?"
he looks over to humor ace but promptly forgets that fact when ace's hand settles on the back of his head, musing his hair. ace pulls him forward from the hold and sabo opens his mouth to suck in a breath. his response to being caught by surprise gets taken advantage of, ace moving in and slotting their lips together, curling his tongue inside of sabo's mouth. he pulls away just as quickly, not wanting to linger, and promptly turns to watch the first batter pop a fly to third. he grins for a moment, bearing his teeth to the cold, then closes his lips to start chewing on the gum he'd just stolen.
sabo, meanwhile, turns dark red. when ace pulls away sabo stays stuck there for a good second, trying to process what had just occurred. when it dawns on him, he gapes, tries and fails to speak, and resorts to burying half his face under the cover of the scarf. he's not facing ace anymore, too embarrassed to do so, especially when he did something like that in front of so many people.
but when ace lowers his arm to curl over sabo's side, sabo still lets himself get dragged closer. he leans into the hold himself, eyes still on his feet but shoulder pressed against ace's chest.
"i can't believe you just did that," he mumbles from beneath the scarf.
"game's started, babe," ace notes, still chewing. "no one cares."
"i'd beg to differ," he mutters, but leaves it at that.

¨I have to say, not a usual place for a Vice Admiral to enjoy a vacation.¨ a smirk bent your lips as you heard the playful voice of the man who courted you with another drink.
¨Well, I´m no usual Vice Admiral.¨
¨No one doubts that.¨ He put the sword on the table and pulled a chair, sitting close to you. ¨You have grown, Y/N.¨
¨You have aged.¨
¨Oi, not very nice. You hurt my feelings.¨ the red-haired placed the hand on his chest, over the heart, faking an offended tone.
¨Mission accomplished.¨
You stared at each other for about four seconds before breaking into laughter. As always, Shanks was louder, banging his fist on the wooden table and vocalizing his amusement to anyone who had ears to hear.
¨It´s been a long time, Y/N.¨ he wheezed, still recovering from his overreaction.
¨Yes, it has, Red hair.¨
¨Red hair? Really? I mean, you tried to kill me way too many times already. You gotta call me by my name.¨ You chuckled, sipping your drink. ¨Especially when you´re at my house.¨
You grinned, shaking your head and biting your lip. Of course, the bastard would not let this opportunity slip.
After years of non-stop hard work, you received a few weeks off duty. That meant that the world could split open, the moons could fall into the atmosphere followed by the sun, and you would not have to move a single finger.
Issho-san would handle that better in any way.
You had any place in the world to moor, a stable and safe summer paradise somewhere in the South Blue, or you could visit the winter island where cherry blossoms painted the freezing horizon pink. The world was on the menu, and yet you chose to break into a Yonko territory.
However, the Yonko in question was more than just an Emperor of the Sea. Your lives entangled at a very young age when the Pirate King was still alive, and Garp had melanin left in his hair.
You were just two snotty brats fighting your Captains´ battles.
¨Anyway,¨ he chugged his drink and asked for another one. ¨I missed you in Marineford.¨
¨Well, I guess I missed Marineford myself. Had a good view, though.¨ you answered nonchalantly.
¨What do you mean?¨
¨I had an underling transmit me the whole thing.¨
¨Isn´t that handy?¨
You tried not to laugh. It was stupid, but every time you had Shanks and hand in the same sentence, you felt the urge to laugh.
¨I wanted to see Luffy.¨ you said.
¨Why not go there, then?¨
¨Duty called somewhere else.¨ you shrugged. ¨Besides, I would have been no help for him.¨
¨You´re saying you wouldn´t help him?¨ Shanks carried a suspicious tone in his voice.
¨Of course I wouldn't help him.¨ You took a sip of your drink. ¨But thanks... for stopping that madness.¨
The man casually stretched his arms above his head, tilting his head back, enjoying the warm sun.
¨No biggie. You owe me another one, and we should be fine.¨ he smiled.
¨Who´s counting?¨
¨I am.¨
¨I already stopped hunting you, Shanks. Isn´t that enough?¨
¨Not on my book, Y/N.¨
For a long portion of your life, you had a personal mission to give the Red Hair the same fate as his Captain. Whenever his crew was located, you would be the one hunting them. No one dared to tell you otherwise.
By that time, you had no significant position. Maybe a Lieutenant, Captain tops. But being related to the Hero of the Marines, well, that granted you some free passes, and as long as you could hand Shanks´head in a tray, a little nepotism didn´t bother you.
Actually, although everyone saw you as Garp´s relative, you were just his first protegé, his first rescued dog. Apparently, the highly ranked officers were going through boring times and decided to pay their dues by doing charity.
The only one you got to know was Sengoku´s kid. Rosinante was his name. To this very day, you could not think of him without the twist in your heart.
Even you didn´t know how to describe it, and honestly, you didn´t care. Was the job done at the end of the day? Good.
That was all that mattered until another pawn entered the game, a very troublesome one, by the way. Slept like a rock and ate all your food. You couldn´t help but fall in love with little Monkey D. Luffy.
He was the one to give you the answer you had stopped looking for a while ago.
In order to be his older sister, you had to be Garp´s granddaughter. Everyone loved the idea, except for the man himself.
You were as keen as Garp to make Luffy become a great Marine. You bought him tailor-made marine onesies and shared stories about the seas. Whenever he spotted you approaching with the leather book in your hands, he would get restless.
The onesies, however, those never lasted. They were thrown in a boiling dumpster altogether with your dream of him joining you in a job one day.
The sun was about to set, and you had just returned from a long and intricate mission when you received a call from Makino saying that Luffy had gotten into some trouble.
Not only that, The Red Hair Pirates were somehow involved. It was all you heard before hanging off the den den mushi and hopping in a Marine ship, headed to Foosha Village.
The idea of Shanks causing Luffy any pain or just giving him a hard time made you turn into a beast. But your bloodshot eyes were washed clean by the image of your brother, safe and sound, hanging out with Red Hair, who seemed rather... different.
¨Why would you do that?! What do you want, Red Hair?!¨
A lot of things went through your head, but none of them could explain why a pirate, why him, would sacrifice his arm to save Luffy. There was no way he didn´t know about your little brother´s connections.
¨I want to pay you a drink. But only if you stop yelling.¨
With a swing of his hand and a smile, Makino appeared with a jug of beer before you could spit fire on him again.
¨They´ve been really good at keeping Luffy entertained this past year, Y/N-san.¨ she said, kind as usual, before leaving.
You sighed and took a seat by his side.
¨Why did you do that?¨
¨I bet on his life. Just that. Why is that a problem? You don´t want to feel grateful for a pirate?¨
Your grip tightened around the cold glass, teeth clenching and knuckles turning white.
¨No.¨
Gratitude was never the problem. You would be grateful to anyone who risked their lives for Luffy, but he... you needed to hate him. But no matter how much you tried, you couldn´t get yourself to do it.
¨I don´t want you thinking that I owe you anything.¨
¨You don´t have to owe me anything, Y/N. But we´ve known each other for a while now, so... we both know that you will.¨
His lips turned into an honest smile, no teasing behind it, and you wished not to have your heart beating faster for it.
¨You don´t kn-¨
¨Y/N!¨ Luffy entered the bar, running to you with the brightest of the smiles on his face.¨Are you done? I have to show you something!¨ he asked, pulling the fabric of your coat.
¨Oi, behave Luffy, I´ll be done in-¨
¨Nooo!¨ he pouted before turning to the opposite side and pulling one of his impish grins ¨Look what I can do! Gomu gomu no...¨
His tiny hand balled into a fist, which you watched stretch all the way to the opposite side of the room before coming back and hitting him in the face.
Did his arm just...
The air froze in the room. You blinked a couple of times, hearing a few gasps around the bar, your gaze fixed in the same place his hand was seconds ago.
¨Luffy-kun, why don´t you come outside with me?¨ Makino extended her hand for him to take. ¨I´ll bring some meat.¨
The kid screamed in excitement and followed her, drool dripping down his chin.
So close, Shanks. So close. He thought, lowering his head on the counter and waiting to get chewed up. However, after a few unscathed seconds, the red-haired lifted his head, almost not believe his eyes.
That was the first and last time you bowed to a pirate.
Of course, later on, you punched him for letting Luffy eat a Devil Fruit.
You swore to leave him and his crew alone, as long as they did not cause bigger problems, which they eventually did, but you had a debt you could never pay, and you ended up focusing on other things.
Those things made it difficult for you to visit Luffy as much as you wanted, but since Garp had sent him to live with Dadan, you could sleep with a clean consciousness.
Whenever you paid him visits, he would tell you about these other kids, whom he considered brothers. One you got to meet, Sabo, smart and polite. The other, however, ran from you like you were a freaking plague.
Ace, another one with whom you had an inestimable debt.
¨Humor me, Y/N. If not Foosha, why here?¨
You shrugged.
¨I was passing by, and the place seemed quite enjoyable.¨
¨Hm.¨ the wind blew stronger, turning the gentle swishing of the palm trees into a harsher rustling. ¨Should I get my men ready for a conflict?¨
¨Relax, Shanks. Right now, this is the safest place on earth.¨
¨What do you mean?¨ he asked, genuinely curious.
¨Oh, come on.¨ you scoffed. ¨Not even the World Government will try to put their hands on you, and I´ll kill anyone who dares to ruin my vacation.¨
¨What about you, Y/N? Will you try to put your hands on me?¨
His gaze was heavy on you, conquering aura filling the place. You looked at him with narrowed eyes and a smirk growing on your lips.
This guy...
You harnessed the moment to take in his features, a lot more mature than you remembered. Although the scars were deeper and he seemed more tired, his hair shone like fresh blood, and his eyes... you were afraid to drown in them.
¨What would you do if I decided to put my hands on you?¨ you bit your lip. ¨I heard you´ve been terrorizing some kids lately.¨
¨Gotta give them a run for their bounties, right?¨ He laughed. ¨But I also heard some interesting things about you, Y/N.¨
You raised your eyebrows as if you were encouraging him to tell you more.
¨Apparently, I´m not the only one spending recreational time with young pirates. And there I thought Marines weren´t supposed to hunt Warlords of the Sea.¨
A shiver ran down your body, already aware of the subject he was about to bring up.
¨Well, I have no idea what you´re talking about.¨ You said, giving him your best oblivious eyelash bat.
¨Oh yeah? Because it was brought to my attention that you made some business with... what´s his name again?¨ he pretended exaggeratedly to think about it ¨Ah, Trafalgar Law.¨
¨Only time I spoke to him, he was a Warlord as well. And I just wanted to thank him for helping Luffy in Marineford.¨
¨You´re gonna start lying to me at this point of our relationship?¨ Shanks teased to eager a bit of the tension, and a scoff left your mouth.
¨First, you´re delusional. Second, you´re too nosey for your own good.¨
The two of you laughed along like you were not natural enemies.
¨Did you get to meet Luffy in Dressrosa? Heard they made an alliance.¨
¨Hm, yeah. But no, couldn´t get myself to do it.¨
You frowned, hurting for have had your little brother so close but not being brave enough to approach him. Good thing he had no idea about your presence in the scene, and you could trust Law´s discretion to keep it that way.
¨He doesn´t hate you, you know.¨
¨Yeah, I know...¨
That was true. Luffy didn´t hate you for not helping him in Marienford, just like he didn´t hate Garp for standing in his way. He had too big of a heart for that.
Shanks let you have your time in silence, empathizing with your feelings. He too had to make sacrifices by standing his ground before.
¨What now?¨ he asked.
¨What now?¨
¨Garp is retired. Joker is down. What´s holding you back?¨
The air got stuck in your lungs. The reality you had been running from, the question for which you postponed to find an answer.
When Garp took you in, the alternatives available for you were restricted, to say the very least. It was either accept the kindness of a stranger or die. He taught you his trade and molded you into one of the best-skilled marines.
As the time passed and you learned the ugly truth behind the World Government, the disgust and disbelief made you want to leave. Fortunately, your life was not stained by the passage of a Celestial Dragon, but how were you supposed to protect them, aware of the atrocities they afflicted to people?
At the same time, how could you leave Garp after everything he did for you? Of course, he would survive if you disappointed him that much, but you owed him your life.
What made you stay, however, was something much less pleasant than a lifetime debt. Thirteen years ago, evil prevailed, and you lost something really important. Or rather, someone.
Commander Donquixote Rosinante. Marine code 01746.
He had a sense of justice like no one else. He was strong, honest, and fair. Did he make you want to pull your hair out every time he lit himself on fire? Yes. Did it bother you to have stains on your tatami because he dropped hot tea on it? Yes. He possessed the ability to get you on your nerves, but he was your family.
You were supposed to be the greatest.
Long story short, that night, at Swallow Island, you left with more than just his dead body. You inherited his will.
You swore to take down the man responsible for shortening his life, and hopefully, in a later day, you could meet the little boy about whom he spoke so highly.
It took you thirteen years. No more ties of the past, no more strings on you.
Well, just one, if you were to be entirely honest with yourself. A string of a stupid tale, a nonsense legend, a foolish myth. The Thread of Destiny, supposed to connect two people together. They say the thread may stretch or tangle, but it shall never break.
Bullshit. There´s no such a thing.
But assuming that there was, why did you feel that if you pulled it to its very end, what you would find would be red as well?
Red as the vest Luffy wore diligently; red as the nose of a cranky apprentice; red as the pompous sails of the Oro Jackson; red as the locks of the man capable of stopping wars with words.
Would you dare to be anything else? Could you step out of your own life like this? Could you abandon everything you fought for all these years?
¨You know, I´ve said it in the past, but I´ll say it again. We could use someone like you in our crew.¨
You gave him a two-second smirky scoff before frowning again.
Were you worthy enough to owe yourself the chance to choose? What did it mean, the justice coat of a Vice Admiral you carried so proud on your shoulders?
If piracy took a lot from you in the past, could piracy, or a pirate, give you everything back?
¨Y/N?¨
¨Hm?¨ You hummed, gaze locked on the lethargic view.
Hot puffs of air played with your hair and involved your skin in a warm hug. You could hear the gentle sound of the waves crashing on the shore, coastal birds cooing and the wind whistling over the rocks.
¨Do you think, maybe, one day... I could ask you out?¨
No matter how many times you rewound the tape, you couldn´t find a different answer, a plausible reason for the burning feeling you held for him, whatever that meant.
From the first time you put your eyes on each other, a contract was opened without even a handshake. A deal was set without your acknowledgment. An ironic fate tied you to the same string.
¨Yeah... maybe.¨

First one for this batch of requests! (I really should stop pretending they’re going to be “drabbles”, I haven’t written a single one that could pass for a drabble)
Thank you so much @detective1412d for the prompt! This... might not be what you had in mind but I hope you like it! <33 (I absolutely love your username btw, just needed you to know that)
Requests are still open, please refer to this post for more info :)

Even when he was only just nearing the little house where he and the Straw Hats had taken shelter after the battle with Doflamingo, Law could tell it was noisy. That could only mean that Straw Hat was finally awake and a wave a relief washed over him. It wasn’t like Straw Hat sleeping the past few days away was unexpected after the strain on his body, and Law had checked his condition regularly to make sure everything was alright, but hearing his laughter was still a weight off of his shoulders.
He could do without the noise but he supposed that was just a part of the package with these pirates and their captain. Just couldn’t do the simplest of things quietly.
Law was surprised at the chuckle that had escaped him at the thought. When did he become so… fond of these people? He quickly wiped the smile off of his face, schooling his expression back to neutral as he reached out to open the door.
“Torao!” Straw Hat greeted him immediately. “Where did you go?”
Looking in the direction of the voice, Law was surprised to no find the other Straw Hats or the samurai sitting at the at the table but instead, Fire Fist Ace and the revolutionary army chief of staff were there with Straw Hat himself. What he wasn’t surprised about, however, was seeing his fellow pirate captain stuffing his face with food, his head barely visible behind the mountain in front of him. At least he swallowed his food before he tried to talk to Law.
“Just checking on the marines,” Law replied, leaning Kikoku against the wall and pushing his hood away from his face.
“Boring,” Straw Hat said in response.
“Someone has to do it since you people don’t seem to give a damn,” Law noted, raising a challenging eyebrow but Straw Hat only stuck his tongue out at him, making Law huff out a small laugh.
“The navy can suck it,” Fire Fist said as he stole a chicken leg right from under Straw Hat’s fingers, earning himself loud protests from his younger brother. A second later, a pipe came to land against the side of Ace’s head. The man clicked his tongue and dropped the chicken back on the pile with a huge pout.
Sabo smiled in approval, then finally reacted to Ace’s words, “Yeah, they don’t seem all too eager to catch us anyway.”
“That’s because gambler old man isn’t a bad guy,” Straw Hat said, nodding seriously to himself as he grabbed the chicken leg that Ace had tried to steal.
As if that made any difference. “He’s still an admiral. They’re going to move sooner or later,” Law sighed, ruffing Straw Hats hair on his way to grab some water.
The other pirate only snickered, letting his head fall so far back that Law’s neck hurt at the sight. “But Torao, it’s not like we can’t beat them.”
Before Law could say anything, Sabo interrupted him, “You’re not fighting an admiral, Luffy. Not now when you’re still recovering.”
“Exactly, Luffy. I’m the one who’s going to fight him,” Ace agreed in a grave voice.
“Neither of you is fighting the admiral!” Sabo snapped, and Law was glad at least one of these brothers seemed to be remotely sane.
Is what he thought at least, before Luffy whined, “Not fair, you already fought him, Sabo!”
His words were closely followed by Ace rolling his eyes and huffing, “You just want to fight him yourself.”
“What can I say, it’s my job to pick fights with the government,” Sabo said with a grin, shrugging as if what he had said made perfect sense.
Law sighed. How and why did he get involved with these people? “How about no one is fighting the admiral,” he said, voice perfectly flat as he shot them all a glare.
“You’re no fun.” Straw Hat announced, sounding as sulky as Law had ever hear him and looking back at Law with a huge pout on his lips.
Law felt the corner of his mouth twitch upward. How was this idiot so cute? Moving away from the counter, Law took the two steps that separated them and leaned down, briefly pressing his lips to Luffy’s. It was just a quick peck, but only when the soft touch of skin sent jolts down his spine, making his heartbeat speed up like crazy, did Law realize what he had just done. He kissed Luffy.
He kissed Luffy.
They barely even had time to talk about this… thing between them—really only had a minute in the middle of the battle, back on the roof while Luffy’s haki recovered—just enough for some hurried confessions. Luffy was asleep the entire time after and Law wasn’t even entirely sure he felt the same way.
He was honestly starting to panic a little bit.
Taking a deep breath, Law finally stood up straight, moving as if on autopilot to drop into the last available chair at the table. Not like he could do much about it now except try to play it cool, after all. Especially when the silence suddenly hanging over the room was getting unbearable. He hoped his expression wasn’t betraying the battle that was raging in his mind but hell, he couldn’t even look anyone of them in the face. Mostly, he just didn’t want to know what expression Luffy was wearing right then so he only focused on the mug in his hands, taking a long sip of his water just to have an excuse to close his eyes.
He was brought back to reality when he felt something warm touch his cheek and his eyes shot open. It took him a second to realize what just happened. That Luffy had kissed him back. When he turned to look to the side, he came face to face with that bright, wide grin and he didn't bother stopping the small, soft smile that pulled on his own lips right then; the warm feeling in his chest and his stomach, the ghost of Luffy's touch on his lips and cheek… It was too much, too impossible to fight.
Plus, he didn't want to fight it anyway. Luffy reciprocating his feelings made him feel light, made him feel safe, made him happy, and Law was done running away from things that made him happy just because he was too scared to lose them.
He wasn't going to lose this one thing even if it killed him.
Suddenly, the comfortable warmth Law was feeling disappeared, only to be replaced by the unbearable heat coming from the wall of fire in his face. Law jerked back on reflex, nearly falling off of his chair in the process.
“Ace, stop!” came Luffy’s voice from somewhere on the other side of the fiery wall.
Law as well turned to look at him questioningly; the only possible suspect was glaring right back at him, an unspeakable fury written all over his face while his entire right arm was engulfed in flames. Even his hair was on fire.
“You touch my little brother again and I will burn your face off,” Ace growled, making the wall grow even larger to prove his point.
Law rolled his eyes. Talk about an overreaction.
Sabo’s hand landed on Ace’s shoulder a moment later. “Calm down, Ace, or you’re going to burn down the house,” he said, voice sounding soothing.
Law almost thanked him, but when he looked at the revolutionary’s face, there was a cold smile there and that was honestly a lot more terrifying than whatever Ace was show him.
“Just leave it to me, I’ll crush his head like an egg for robbing Luffy of his first kiss,” the man added, his hand already coated in Armament haki.
As if Law was about to stick around for that.
With a sigh, Law coated his own arm in haki and reached through the flames to grab at Straw Hat. “Shambles,” he said lazily and immediately, the two of them found themselves on the roof, the two enraged screams only a muffled echo from down below.
“Your power is always so cool,” Straw Hat breathed as soon as he found his footing after the sudden change of scenery.
“Thanks,” Law replied with a chuckle at the stars that were dancing in Luffy’s eyes. He was seriously too cute. However, his amusement soon died down when he remembered what Sabo had said and he frowned, his gaze turning to quizzical. “Was that really your first kiss?” he asked slowly.
Straw Hat cocked his head to the side, a confused expression finding its way on his face. “Yeah?”
A feeling of dread and shame washed over Law. He really fucked up there, didn’t he? “I’m sorry,” he said, trying to sound as sincere as he could.
“Why?”
Law paused, staring blankly at the honest, bemused frown on Luffy’s face that accompanied the simple question. Did he seriously not understand why Law was apologizing?
“For stealing your first kiss?” he tried, gesturing vaguely between them. “And without asking,” he added, making a face at his own stupidity. Why didn’t he realize what he was about to do until after it happened?
“Why?” Straw Hat asked again, pausing for a second before continuing, “I mean, it’s not a big deal, right? I don’t know why Ace and Sabo reacted like that. And I like you and I liked it so it’s a good thing, isn’t it?”
Law blinked. Luffy wasn’t wrong but it… sounded a little too simple. Looking into Luffy’s eyes, Law couldn’t see any hint of uncertainty or any sign that he didn’t mean every single word he had said and out of nowhere, Law felt like he was the stupid one.
He couldn’t help it. He laughed, suddenly feeling so light and calm. Maybe he really shouldn’t be thinking too hard about things, especially where this idiot was concerned. It wasn’t like he bothered to think anything through, after all.
With a crooked smile still on his face, Law leaned forward, his fingers gently brushing Luffy’s cheek before they buried in his soft hair. He ignored the shouts of his name and death threats coming from the two brothers who were now running all around the house looking for them, only focusing on the grin on Luffy’s face and the warmth of his gaze. “Then I better do it more often,” he whispered only a second before their lips connected once more.
The kiss was slower this time, soft and innocent and making those damn butterflies in Law’s stomach go crazy. He really was so gone for this man. He couldn’t help but remember the time after they had left the auction house on Sabaody two years ago, the one where he met Luffy for the first time. After all was said and done, Shachi had looked at him with this stupid grin on his face and called Law smitten.
Law had just rolled his eyes and told him not to be an idiot but he wondered, if the same conversation happened now, whether he would be able to say anything against the accusation. Hell, maybe Shachi was right even then. Maybe Law was taken in by his brightness, the life he was radiating, and his reckless willingness to fight the entire world for the people he cared about. He couldn’t deny he was drawn to him ever since they first met.
Finally, they pulled away from each other, both out of breath and with smiles on their faces, and Law thought to himself that it might have been unavoidable. Unavoidable for Luffy to save him, both metaphorically and literally, for Law to fall in love, for the two of them being here, kissing on the roof while Luffy’s brothers went through several stages of mental breakdown below them.
And Law would go through everything that had happened in the past week all over again just for this moment.

It’s Fate » Captain Koby
Tumblr media
event request for » my sister
pairing : Marine Captain Koby x Fem! Reader
prompt : #1 [ Red String of Fate ]
Trope? / Specifics? : fem! Reader.
note : I did the editing myself on the photo. Yes I know it’s not good.
Summary : On a walk with Koby to get some lunch, a small incident occurs and a moment of realization happens.
Tumblr media
“Old man, why don’t you leave Luffy alone?”
Fiddling with a pen and balancing it on your nose, you were just lounging around in Sengoku’s office on his couch, no one else but Garp in the room. Sengoku was currently out.
“What was that?” Garp’s voice rang in the room, him on the other side, across from you on the couch there.
“You keep attacking Luffy whenever you get a chance, reprimanding him for not even seeking you out to converse with, or just bond with.” You point out, sitting up and the pen dropping to the floor.
“I’m just saying, you’re yelling at him for not doing those things, even though he’s a pirate and you’re a marine. Sengoku wouldn’t be too happy.” You sang, picking up the pen again and placing it onto the table.
“Regardless of that fact, I’m his grandpa so he should show some respect and reach out to me.” Garp scoffs, his grin overtaking his tone as he looks over at you.
“Do you do the same to Ace?” You cross one leg over the other and smile at the famed old man. Garp, knowing where you were getting at, just chuckles. “I’ll beat the crap out of him if I ever see him.”
“Heard he’s a division commander for Whitebeard.” You hum. You then grin a bit. “Ace is cute. Too bad he’s a little older. Much more, a pirate.”
“I’ll be damned if you ever date him.”
Laughing softly at Garp, you lean back on the cushion of the couch and lift your hand and look to the faint red string around your finger.
“Speaking of which...”
Garp, who had his eyes originally closed, merely opens an eye at your quietness, before seeing what you were staring at.
“..You’ve yet to meet them?” He guesses, even though he knew.
“I’m eighteen now.. it’s a little more brighter and visible but there hasn’t been any progress.” Pouts can be seen on your face.
Garp just listened intently, because he knew how important the red strings were.
It was a custom of sorts, to be given a red string tied around your finger, and only be visible when you were closer to your destined soulmate. The closer you were, the more visible and brighter the red string would become, and linked right to your given fate.
It was extremely rare for the red string of fate to be wrong, but there were some occasions where the string was cut and eventually, tied once again to another given soulmate though.
“I guess I thought it would be one of the straw hats, when we met them at Island of water, Water 7, since it started to become visible there, but it didn’t fade away once we left. Which sucks, because that swordsman was pretty cute.”
Garp playfully rolls his eyes at your statement, shaking his head as he stands up, his tone calm and serious.
“Give it time. You got plenty of years ahead of you. Besides, you aren’t the only one. That chore boy is the same age as ya and he hasn’t found the one either.” Garp states, picking his nose with his pinky.
“Chore boy? You mean Koby? That apprentice you took in?” You question and Garp nods. “Him. He’s a potential one. Heard he saw it getting a little more brighter too around here.”
“You really are old. You’re losing your memory already, gramps. Koby’s a marine captain now. If you’re losing your memory, you might already be on deaths door.”
“Is he? Boy’s grown fast.” Garp says before he stands up and raises his fist, punching the top of your head and successfully knocked you off the couch.
“And what’s that about my age? I may be old but I’ll still outlive you, you damn brat!” He smirks, seeing the bruise forming on your head, and your teary eyes glaring at him as you held your head at the pain.
Doing your best to ignore the pain, your mind drifted to Koby. You remember seeing him two years ago, when he first joined. The kid was so small, you mistook him for a 10 year old.
But as he continued to train along with the blonde he came with, under Garp, the pinkette was slowly growing more and more taller and much stronger and soon enough, he was taller than you.
He was still the same shy boy that you met though. You haven’t seen him lately other than through a little bit of passing, but you worked in different areas anyway so it made sense it wasn’t often you see him.
“Tch. You damn old man..” you curse under your breath, Garp ready to deliver another punch, when a knock interrupted him.
“Sir? You wanted to see me?”
The voice was soft, sounding familiar.
“Come on in, this isn’t my office.” Garp says, and slowly, the door to Sengoku’s office opened to reveal the voice owner.
“Koby, we were just talking about you.”
Koby blinks for a moment, having just poked his head in before hesitantly stepping fully inside and closed the door behind him.
However, he seemed startled to see you.
“A-Ah, Commodore [Name]!” He quickly saluted to you, fixing his posture as he stood straight, the smallest blush on his cheeks.
“Koby, you don’t have to do that.. we’re the same age.” You sigh, rubbing your head for a brief moment longer and then pulled it down to your lap.
“Right.. haha..” He sheepishly smiles, feeling a bit embarrassed before he widens his eyes a bit.
His eyes seemed focused on a particular thing, glancing back and forth from your hand to his, but he said nothing, just staring wide-eyed.
You didn’t seem to notice, too focused on trying to ease the pain from your head, courtesy of Garp.
Garp, glancing to Koby, notices his shocked expression and smirks when he realized what he was reacting to.
Unfortunately, it seems you’ve yet to notice, despite how vibrant the string was becoming.
“What a coincidence..” he thought, eyeing Koby carefully. He trusted Koby enough to do well with you, and seemed almost relieved that your soulmate was Koby.
“Koby, why don’t you go take [Name] out and eat something at the cafeteria. We’ll discuss our meeting and training another time.”
“Huh?” Both you and Koby look over at Garp, blinking confusedly in unison, causing him to laugh.
“Just go eat something. You can’t train on an empty stomach.” You eye Garp suspiciously, wondering why he was acting strangely suddenly but you couldn’t go wrong on some food at the moment.
“Alright then. Let’s go.” Standing up straight, you offer a smile to the younger rank and began heading to the door.
Dumbfounded, Koby just nods slowly and stares questioningly at Garp as you opened the door and headed out.
Once you were completely out of the room, Garp held his usual grin but his tone went low.
“Good luck.. treat her well.”
Koby widens his eyes once again and felt his blush creeping back onto his cheeks. He rubs the back of his neck a bit shyly as he nods.
“Yes sir.”
With that, he exited the office as well and closed the door behind him, leaving Garp alone.
“These kids are growing up fast..” Staring over at the closed door, Garp sighs as he thought about Ace, Luffy, and even Sabo.
-
“So.. it’s been a while. How’s your training?”
Koby, lost in thought and staring down at the ground, mostly his fidgety hands, and the red string tied around his finger, didn’t seem to hear you.
“Koby?”
Gently nudging him, Koby blinks as he turns beside you. “Y-Yes?”
“You okay? You seem off.” You say, sparing a glance to him before turning back to the pathway, humming softly to yourself as you thought about what to eat.
“I’m fine!” Koby assures a little quickly before he kept quiet again, turning back to his red string.
Silence overtook the two of you, leaving you to think. You started to think about Koby beside you, and the red strings, even more about what Garp said.
Then, you focused on Koby himself. It’s been a while since you’ve seen him and you had to admit, he grow up well. He was handsome, indeed. Much different from the little boy you recognize just a little over two years ago.
You were busy thinking about how handsome Koby was, you almost didn’t hear Koby call you.
“Hey.. [Name]?”
“...Yeah?”
“.. Did you.. happen to meet your soulmate yet? I mean, do you know who your red string connects to?” Koby asks softly, shoving his hands to his sides and looks at you.
You listen to his question and smile meekly. “I haven’t. You haven’t yet, either. Right?” About to raise your hand to see your string, you and Koby turn the corner.
Just to bump into some people.
“Wa—!”
“[Name]!”
Quickly reacting to catch you, he ended up pulling the big marine coat off your shoulders instead and the two men that walked past also bumped into Koby.
“Woah!-“
The two of you both ended up falling to the ground with a thud, Koby hovering over you.
Koby winces at the pain, opening his eyes just to be face to face with you down below him. His eyes immediately widen as his cheeks began to flush and darken as he quickly jumped back away, his glasses flying off.
You didn’t seem to notice, eyes shut and rubbing your head.
Recovering from the fall, you groaned slightly and shake your head lightly to ease the slight dizziness forming.
“Hey, you alright?” Turning over to Koby, who was turned away from you, you watch him rub his head and sit up. “I-I’m fine.”
Since he was rubbing his head, he seemed to realize something was missing. “Ah!- my glasses are gone.” He voiced, no longer feeling the frames on his forehead.
You awed in realization, also noticing it was missing, and began to look around the ground.
Crawling around, you found the familiar navy blue pair of glasses and pick it up, inspecting it closely to make sure it wasn’t broken.
Using the ends of your shirt to wipe it off, you smile softly to see it was clean and hum. “I found them.”
Koby turns around from where he was searching and smiles a bit in relief. “Did you? Thank you.”
He was glad, because he wasn’t sure if he had time to get a new pair around, especially the customed ones made especially for him.
“Here.” Seeing Koby opening up his hands out for you, you move to kneel in front of him.
Handing it into his opened hands, you gently place it onto his palm and smile softly. “There, I just cleaned it so it should be good.”
Koby felt his glasses and opened them up, before slipping it onto his face, adjusting it.
“T-Thank you.” He shyly expresses, an embarrassed smile forming along with his already flushed, pink cheeks.
He stares up at you, blinking for a moment.
“Your glasses okay? If they don’t work, I can get you some new ones.” You say, still kneeling in front of him and waiting for his answer to see if his glasses were still in good condition.
Hearing your offer, Koby immediately shakes his head, frantically waving his arms.
“No need, these glasses still work just fine! In fact,” he clears his throat as his blush darkens ever so boldly.
“I’m able to see my future wife right in front of me.”
... Huh?...
The pink hue that crept onto your cheeks became much more darker each passing second, all from just the twelve words that Koby said.
It was only then, while you were staring wide-eyed at Koby, did you notice his red string around his finger.
It was knotted around his index finger, and out of instinct, you glance down to see where it led to, just to see your red string exposed, bright as day.
And connected right to him.
Koby seems to have already known this, not seemingly surprised at your blinking reaction to the strings.
Instead, he only kept his brave, yet shy grin, his cheeks still coated with pink as he brings his hands down from the side of his glasses.
“Looks like my statement might be true. It’s fate after all.”

Look at Me
( Nov 10, 2020 )
Sanji x fem reader Platonic Ace x fem reader
Two. It had always been just the two of them. They only had eachother.
He was bruised and she was alone. His brothers hated him and her parents died. They were both separated from the other children.
She never felt more alone than amidst the group. Boisterous voices echoed from a distance, never truly entering her mind. The floor was far more fascinating and rather open minded compared to her peers.
A flash of gold passed her peripheral vision. She looked up to see a bandaged blond boy hiding behind the birch tree next to the swing set. She'd seen him in class before; he was always covered in some form of bandage or bruise. He was the only one, other than her, that wasn't part of the group.
It was now or never to make a friend. Small town mentality meant few moved away and those who did never left alone.
"Hi?" She said approaching the small boy cautiously.
"Um, hello." He answered avoiding her gaze.
"Would you like to sit with me at lunch? My grandma made me some cookies." She asked, offering a small bribe.
"Yes! I mean, yes please." He said lighting up with excitement immediately.
They'd unknowingly made their first and soon to be best friend that day.
---
Blue. His eye color and the hue of the bracelets she made for them. His had a sun pendant and hers had a moon.
"Sanji! I have a present for you!" Y/n yelled as she ran toward him.
"Really?!" He never got a present from anyone other than his mother, who had passed a few years ago.
"Yeah, hold out your hand for me and close your eyes ok?" She said happily.
"Ok!" He said quickly obeying.
He felt something cold and oddly shaped slide over his hand and onto his wrist.
"Open!" Y/n exclaimed.
He looked to see the ocean blue bracelet wrapped around his wrist. It was a little big, but nothing he couldn't grow into.
"I have one too!" She held out her arm for him to see.
"We match!" He said grabbing her hand to admire her work better.
"Yup! It means we'll be together forever!" She tangled her fingers with his.
"Seriously?!" His voice raised in pitch.
"Yeah, promise?" Y/n pulled him closer leaning her forehead against his.
"Promise!" He said happily flush faced as he leaned against her in return.
---
She sat across from him focusing desperately on the homework before her. It was becoming more difficult by the second to keep a neutral expression.
He wouldn't shut up about the lovely ladies in their school, especially the new red headed girl.
A new girl named Nami had moved in recently. New people were rare. Nami girl could be nice when she wanted to be, but otherwise Y/n didn't see much to like about her. She had nothing against Nami, she wasn't a horrible person, but she couldn't see what was so special about her. Nothing really stood out other than her hair. Maybe it was the hair.
Regardless, Sanji kept talking about how beautiful she was, "A radiant jewel" as he put it. It wasn't uncommon for him to go off about women, but the fact the fresh blood set him off to a whole new level.
"Nami's hair is such a beautiful shade of citrine! I simply can't imagine how one could obtain such a hue!"
"Genetics."
"I wonder what she thinks of when her mind wanders off away from the cruel clutches of reality."
"Money, probably."
"Her eyes often gaze at our lovely teacher's necklace. Does she desire such extravagance to decorate herself with?"
"Plotting how to steal it."
"She must-"
"Sanji! This is our last assignment for the year and it's due tomorrow. Focus or at least do something beside ponder Nami's existence."
"But-"
"I will steal every fork you own. Now focus on something else, please. Your tangerine obsession is distracting."
"Alright..." Finally he left the subject behind and looked to his paper.
This was just sad. He couldn't understand any of the problems.
"Y/n?"
"Yes?"
"How do I find X?"
She looked up from her final question and decided it could wait.
Getting up from her side of the table she slid beside him and began explaining.
He always smelled of whatever delicious thing he cooked that day. Today it had definitely been a pasta.
Leaning against him to see better was possibly a bad idea. She always wanted more. Being physically close wasn't rare for them, but as time passed it became difficult not to desire going a little further.
She couldn't help but slowly rest her head on his shoulder as she helped him.
---
Luffy messed up the decorations again, for the third time. Robin simply laughed it off and began again.
"Luffy, go wash off all that red paint, please." Mrs. Makino said with a smile as she walked in to see his little murder scene.
"Shi shi shi. Yes, Mrs. Makino!" Luffy quickly left to wash up with a skip in his step.
"Don't worry, Robin, I'll assign him a different project." Mrs. Makino said as she sat at her desk.
"Thank you, Mrs. Makino." Robin answered sweetly before returning to making decorations.
"Namiiii-swaaa- Oh, hello Mrs. Makino! You look lovely, can't even tell you're five months along." Sanji burst into the room.
"Thank you, Sanji. That's very kind of you. Only four to go!"
"You can do it, Mrs. Makino!" Everyone in the classroom cheered.
"Enough about me, get back to work everyone!" She laughed.
Tumblr media
"Nami-swaaaan!"
"Sanji, I'm busy. These stars aren't going to finish themselves." She didn't look up.
"Lovely stars, only angel could create!" He dreamily spouted.
"That's nice. What do you want." Nami grumbled struggling to focus.
"Be my date for the festival!"
Y/n's head shot up, surprising Ace next to her.
"I don't know..." Nami drawled.
"Please, I'll pay!"
"Fine."
"Yes!"
Y/n slid down in her seat and gazed hazily at the ceiling.
"You alright?" Ace poked her cheek.
"Sanji and I go together every year. Now, what am I gonna do?"
The tiles above became more appealing the longer Sanji bothered Nami with date plans. This detail didn't pass by Ace.
"Why don't we go together?" He said temporarily abandoning the project.
"Yeah?" She turned to him.
"Yeah, Can't have you binge watching Fullmetal Alchemist in the dark with a tub of ice cream again." He joked.
"Aaaaw, why not? It's green mint chip and fudge this time."
"Fine, but not without me, after the festival, and you have to share."
"Deal." She shook his outstretched hand humorously.
---
Wooly clouds grazed in the chilly blue above. Her sweater was enough to shield from the cold.
"Yo! Y/n!" The distant voice of Ace running her way reached her ears.
"Hey, Ace!" She ran to meet him and they began to walk to school together.
Students, stalls, and colorful decorations filled the campus.
"Cmon, Ace! Let's get food!" She grabbed his sleeve and pointed to the food stalls.
"Alright, Alright, hungry much?"
"Always."
They laughed and ran to get in line.
---
He was holding at least  twelve bags as he tiredly trailed behind Nami. Sanji wasn't going to be able to afford basics at this rate. He might have to stay with Y/n for a bit, not that she ever minded. When he said he'd pay he didn't expect to pay with all he had.
Y/n always split the bill with him on everything. They often carried their things in a large bag and each held a handle as they walked side by side. Y/n always made the effort to make everything equal between them.
"Oh, I like your bracelet." Nami noticed the ocean colored beads.
A dull ache had begun to claw at his heart.
---
"and then he panicked and threw it at Zoro. His hair went from mossy green to shitty green."
"Oh my-*wheeze*" Ace struggled to breath and wiped away tears of laughter.
"That's not even the best part." Y/n said with a smirk.
"How?!" he sat up regaining his composure slightly.
"Picture day!" She burst out laughing.
Ace fell off the bench.
"Please, tell me you have the yearbook." He managed to say between laughs.
"I do."
They headed toward the theater room and continued to tell hilarious stories along the way.
---
Luffy and Shanks, the sex Ed teacher, were dramaticly reenacting a fighting scene on stage. Luffy's stance and acting was so awful it became a comedy.
"Why is he a main character, this is just sad." Nami was one of the few not amused with the "new" version of the play.
Sanji desperately held in his laughter to avoid her wrath. He found Shanks completely in character and Luffy dancing around moronically far too humorous.
Y/n's joyful laugh echoed throughout the room amongst the others. He wanted to join her.
---
"My brother looked like such a dumb ass prancing around like that." Ace said as they grew closer to her home.
"Yeah, but I loved it."
"Agreed."
She unlocked the door and bowed sarcastically for him.
"Oh, why thank you peasant." He said walking in.
"Hey!" Y/n stood up and playfully slapped his shoulder.
---
His sore arms were finally relieved of their burden. The last bag had been placed in Nami's car.
He'd be lying if he said it was the best festival day he'd had. It was actually at the bottom of the list.
He had little money left. She'd rung him dry. He'd have to stay at Y/n's.
He pulled out his sunflower case covered phone and texted Y/n.

Enthralled was the only way to describe them as they watched Edward fight on screen. Unfortunately it had to be interrupted by the buzzing of her phone.

"Something going on?" Ace paused the anime.
"Sanji's staying the night and the week too, apparently."
"Wonder what happened. He doesn't normally stay the week." He said confusedly.
"Nami probably spent all his money."
"Ooooh. That makes sense. I should call pops to pick me up. You don't have enough room for both of us staying."
"Thanks, Ace."
"No problem."

Shortly after she finished cleaning up a familiar car pulled into her driveway.
She open the door to an exhausted Sanji. Poor boy looked ready to collapse.
"Oh dear, Sanji, please sit down. I'll make some tea." She guided him to the couch.
He flopped down shamelessly and let himself be absorbed into its soft embrace.
"How hard did she work you?" She asked from the kitchen.
"I carried her bags all day, some were heavy even for me, and I have to carry large flour bags around all the time. I counted fifteen when I put them in her car. I paid for everything in those bags. I can barely a buy box of chicken nuggets now."
"Damn." She walked in with the tea and sat down next to him.
He took a sip and sighed. It was perfect, the right temperature, sugar, and milk. She knew him too well.
He set it down and leaned against her.
"I don't know if I can do it again." He sighed.
"Then don't." She stated wrapping an arm around him.
"Wha-" He titled his head up surprised.
"You don't have to do anything."
"But-"
"No, you are far too important to be treated so poorly. You deserve better." She began to rub his back comfortingly.
"She's the only one to actually go out with me. All the others rejected me without hesitation."
"Not all."
"Then who? I'm so lonely every morning and night waking up and falling asleep in an empty home."
"Why not m-" She noticed his empty wrist.
"What?"
She gently grasped his arm and held it up.
"Where's your bracelet? Did you lose it?" She asked in calm yet concerned tone.
"Nami kept bothering me about how much she liked it until I gave it up." He sadly sighed.
"Sanji, you can't just give in to her every whim and want." She flopped onto her side, covering her face. Y/n didn't want him to see how upset she was.
"I'll get it back." He reached out to brush her hands away from her face.
"I gave it to you as a pledge that we'd be together forever." She whispered beginning to sob.
Y/n rolled onto her back and curled up in a ball.
"I'm so sorry. Y/n, please look at me. I'll get it back, promise." He pleaded.
"Promise?" She sniffled peeking out.
"I promise." He held out his pinky.
She laughed a bit and wiped some tears away before intertwining her finger with his.
"Now, that's settled. I could've sworn you were going to say something." He thought aloud.
"No!" Heat began to rise from within her.
"It was something like, 'why not m-', what's that supposed to mean. Why not what?" Curiosity dripped from every word and pooled onto the wooden floor.
"It's nothing." Y/n tried avoiding it. She couldn't look at him. It would give her away.
"You never mean nothing. What-" It clicked and his eyes widened with excitement.
She meant to say "Why not me?". She loves him. SHE LOVES HIM. She'd never rejected him in anyway. He'd jokingly flirt with her from time to time and she never turned him down. How had he not noticed. Such a dream seemed too far out of his reach to even consider.
"Y/n, why didn't you say so~"
Sanji's sudden elation and playfulness made something plummet from within. Had he figured it out?
"Say what?" She hoped she was wrong. Her heart trembled.
"You love me!~" He plopped onto her and nuzzled affectionately into her stomach. He made sure to entangled her in his grasp.
"Aaah, nooooo! You weren't supposed to guess it." The temperature rose to an unbearable level.
"My Y/n-Chwaan loves me!~" He chanted tightening his grip and burying face further into the folds of her shirt.
"I love you too." He stated looking up to her vermilion flustered expression.
"Yeah, yeah, love you." She looked away unable bear the cuteness of his puppy eye and started petting him.
Y/n was fawned over and teased relentlessly all night. She couldn't escape his endless adoration.
