#i did not like her s2 arc so i am copium and living in s1 painter mel#mel medarda#arcane#my art#i have a LOT of thoughts on her and i wish she remained like. a normal person and not...whatever the magical stuff happened#it didnt develop smoothly enough for me to feel invested and left me just kind of. confused.#& i think that forgetting about Mels painting is leaving a huge interesting level to her character because art as a whole#can be used as a metaphor for the image for others to perceive vs how we perceive it ourselves...so for mel it would be herself#with the others perception being all of piltover. her mother. jayce. vik. lest. they all see her differently and mel herself i think#presents a different woman than what she is inside in favour of being 'diplomatic' and 'moving forward'#anyway thats just me rambling i jsut think there was a lot of melon left to thump in terms of her character#i loathe her trading in her signature colours for her mothers in the end

Fic where Tommy and Steve reconnect and Tommy slowly, painfully, horrifically realizes that he doesn’t know who Steve is anymore.
It’s not just that he’s changed. It’s not that he’s different. Tommy’s different too but Tommy is still Tommy.
Steve is a different person entirely.
There are glimpses of the friend he once knew in these conversations but they’re fleeting and fast. Maybe that’s more horrific because it makes it so Tommy can’t leave.
He can’t mourns his friendship or his friend when there’s the briefest chance to see Steve - his Steve - in the man he’s become. How could he leave that?
Steve isn’t a man he knows anymore and Tommy will always be standing in the Fair Mart parking lot, yelling at him to run away.
Never - not once - thinking that he’d listen.

INCREDIBLY LONG INCOHERENT TAGS RANT INCOMING FAIR WARNING HAS BEEN GIVEN:#it makes me so so sad how little discussion there is about specifically ikuko because imho she fits so neatly into a lot of the more#overarching Big Themes of the game in a way that i have not ever really seen people take notice of or point out in a meaningful way#like even just off of the top of my head. the significance of names and what it means to go by a name that's Not Yours (she has like 4+)#what it Means to be a witch how it represents a person's deepest insecurities and flaws & how its at its core a coping mechanism#the fact that it takes two to create a universe and trying to do it on your own anyways has the capacity to bring you intense misery#^ (how she's shown to be extremely dismissive of her own work and skill until a collaborator comes into her life and helps/encourages her)#and even the family/patriarchy/misogyny stuff that is so prevalent in the rest of the game comes back around to her. even her Only Friend#(young&stupid atp to be fair) remarks that shes Weird for being unmarried + the little she does say about her past invites the question of#to what extent her self-image stems from her family deeming her a freak outcast & effectively disowning her while celebrating her brothers#and i have lot in my mind about the witch thing specifically because i think her particular situation is very reflective of what umineko's#entire magic system and fantasy facet as a whole is meant to represent for an individual. from what little we see of (what is presumably)#her Real personality she is shown to be deeply self conscious in a way that is JARRINGLY diametrically opposed to both 1.) what we see in#featherine and 2.) what we see when she is acting as a Public Figure. because both of the above are very much purposeful acts that she is#putting on in order to obfuscate her true self. and i have always been very resolute & adamant about not totally equating her to featherine#not only because im very firmly in the camp of “featherine is the avatar of the Pen Name & tohya is part of her too” but also very much b/c#i feel very strongly that the stark differences between the two are very centrally relevant to her character & her psyche. as is the case#with most other witches featherine's personality traits serve to reveal/magnify a lot of ikukos inner workings by playing on her#insecurities/reversing them e.g. ikuko being very quick to downplay her skill/achievements becomes featherine being the COMPLETE opposite#to the point where she barely registers even other witches as living beings rather than just fun touys. BUT even though i do champion the#ikuko/featherine separation so hard i ALSO think it is purposefully relevant that at first glance the line between them seems so blurry#her introduction implying a more nebulous separation between her reality/fantasy counterpart is i think is an intentional move on her part#like it is part of the front she is putting up when acting as the Author. as opposed to Ikuko the person who we (in a way ironically very#similar to the way that the Real Battler is presumably only shown during the boatscene) only very briefly get to see take up screentime#which even on a meta level lines up very well with her apparent underlying nature as a like. extremely private largely reserved/shy person#hit tag limit but if by some miracle anyone is still reading this thank you... please see ikuko with the love she deserves... ok ily byeee

I think the biggest grievance I have with severance season 2 was they still gave reghabi absolutely nothing and I think this goes along with the no black writers criticism quite well because you have this morally grey genius neurosurgeon who is also an older black woman so of course she literally just turns up to help the protagonist out of nowhere acts mysterious and then disappears again. We know nothing about why she turned against Lumon how she developed the reintegration technique how she managed to get in touch with Petey/convince him to reintegrate. It's a mystery show and we don't need all the answers straight away but even just some interiority for her would have been nice what are her beliefs is she feeling anything after the murder she committed how about after accidentally killing a patient does she have a family where has she been living all this time if she's on the run what's her history with Cobel just a crumb please
#my other grievance is the over reliance on romance subplots i kind of prefered the mystery/politics/character/ethics focus of s1#there was a whole world out there of dinner parties and political demonstrations and funerals and news programmes#now it's just like oh everyone is cheating but with a twist (the twist is severance) which fine but why sacrifice the other stuff for that#i did enjoy it a lot btw but i don't feel as excited about rewatching s2 whereas I'd watch s1 over and over#the gemma episode was a highlight because it was actually about the implications of severance technology same way as the birthing cabins#its like when they put a random ass love triangle in utopia and i was like okay sure can we get back to the ecofascism now lmaoooo#anyway yep i enjoyed it a lot but god some characters are so neglected i don't care about the goat people give me more reghabi!!!!!#severance#severance spoilers

One of the funniest parts about the whole “Leo not giving Draxum any grace” idea is that Draxum is one of the ONLY notable older men in the show that Leo isn’t willing to give a proper second chance to OR really hear out in the first place.

Leo notably does his best to do good in Tim’s eyes#apologizing earnestly to Tim even when it’s not his fault even#and this is another older man Leo refers to as a surrogate father#Leo also quickly falls for the evil hair Yokai Masseur’s lies despite the bad vibes he got#Leo also was the main one who went easy on Bullhop#and let’s not forget Señor Hueso and Leo’s strong attachment to him despite Hueso’s consistent insults and annoyance#like even WARREN gets Leo’s sympathy and assistance when they all helped him get Hypno back#you can even argue that Leo WAS willing to hear Draxum out when they first met#and Leo assumed Draxum was surrendering before the whole ‘BARON DRAXUM DOES NOT SURRENDER’ thing#hell he’s not even antagonistic really to Draxum he just doesn’t really like him#he’ll listen to his advice if necessary#anyway this being a fairly consistent character trait of Leo’s is funny to me#it’s always specifically older men too - Big Mama does NOT get anything but immediate suspicion#not all of them but most of the ones Leo has specific interactions with are like this#I’m just saying!!! The idea that the world is made up of two groups, good people and bad people, is super reductive imo, and the idea that it's ontological is more-so, but without elaboration: Jason being a good person by nature who is actively trying to be a bad person is more interesting to me than him being an evil person by nature who is actively trying to make himself good.
#and you might say “but the Garzonas situation!” to which I'd say “nothing he did in the diplomat's son arc makes me think he's evil sorry”#honestly the former premise is more supported by canon content like the Winick GA/Outsiders tie ins than the latter#Like. He's literally TRYING to be worse! He's lying down with dogs and getting up with fleas except the whole time he's thinking#“god I HATE lying down with dogs. these dogs suck ass. It's a shame I need these fleas so bad”#when he thinks “nobody in this room deserves to leave” that means him too like he's conforming to a standard he hates sooo much#because it's advantageous to his greater goals#I think there's a lot of lame ooc stuff about him and how guilty he feels but I DO think a lot of what he does is. maybe not ego but like#morality-dystonic? whumpee kept by non-human whumper and coming out mostly human but also not quite. stronger than they should be for having no meat on their bones. senses a little too keen. reaction times a little too sharp. covered in scars that form too fast. the core of them whittled away and patched with something different, and it’s too late to do anything about it.

May I ask what were the best transformers media you ever saw/read?
Well Transformers Prime, Transformers 1986 and IDW comics are having the first place that’s for sure
And then the second place is kind of shared by Fall of Cybertron, Exodus, Prime wars trilogy, Robots in disguise(2001) and Transformers One.
The third place goes to G1, Animated, Earthspark, Armada, War for Cybertron Netflix series, Aligned Robots in disguise, Bumblebee, Rise of the Beasts and Cyberverse because I only liked some little parts of them.
And then I also saw some of the Bay movies, Victory and Headmasters and didn’t like them at all.
Separate first place for J-Decker. It is not exactly Transformers but it is a show about giant robots and I loved it
#call me weird for placing cheap ugly shows above Earthspark and Animated#but the thing is#I have when the whole narrative revolves around human kids#*hate#I’m allergic to them#Prime wars trilogy had one of the worst face rigs I ever saw#but it also had Overlord teaming up with evil Rodimus and Megatron being funniest mf alive#Armada is straight up infuriating imma be honest#Armada is like#Au where all the weapons work only once and then just create some glitter#I actually have SO many thoughts on Armada. like. as a writer#the way they keep reusing the same plot 3000 times is borderline impressive#OH War for Cybertron from Netflix was such an experience!#It was so painfully boring and stupid sometimes#but the other times. ooooouuufff. The scene where some nameless decepticon gives Megatron a little tour to show him how him and his friends#-work so hard for the cause??? THAT SHIT HIT HARD#….also I pretty much only like the Quintesson apocalypse arc from the entire Cyberverse#Transformers Victory is fun until you actually hear them speaking#the concept of Star Saber adopting a human child and raising him and then#going to human school as his legal guardian being like ‘yeah sure I can sign all your tiny ass documents’#it’s hilarious but unfortunately all the writers of that anime were snorting cocaine because WHY all the characters talk like that#Animated was fun for me only near the end. Idk what to say. I’m not a fan of any drama centered around humans#things got interesting when Cybertronian government got involved#Earthspark is WHOLE giant topic ahahah. I liked Twitch. sometimes. I also liked Grimlock while he had voice lines. Prowl was fun.#everything else needs and essay haha I don’t wanna annoy anyone#OH I also watching Tf Cybertron right now and this shit is UGLY. they have NO RIGS. I know it's a comedy manga, but the ww manga probably has one of my favorite manga interpretations of Link. Mainly because he feels accurate to his games. He's quiet, he can talk, but he mostly just communicates his thoughts through his actions and body language. He's also just a silly little guy.

Here they are, the babes!
They are life partners as well as business partners, in fact they are the founders and organizers of Fusion Fest! (the big festival that celebrates all troll genres coming together (also the festival Leslie hatched at))
They're both extremely social, Ruth being especially high energy, and they are both passionate workaholics that keep busy 24/7. They're good loving moms but you can easily guess why Flea peaced out and decided to go to uni all the way in Vibe City - they can be very intense to live with.
The album Que Pasa by Babe Ruth is the inspiration for their sound and design. I own a CD of it and love blasting it when I'm alone. 💃
