i went to a protest today
#it was my first protest in korea#i havent gone to any bc it's illegal on my visa#except this one was hosted by my union so i'm allowed to attend#it's fucking bonkers that migrants are not allowed to protest or be involved in any sort of 'political activity' without deportation#and ofc the definition of 'political' is decided randomly and/or on a case-by-case basis#anyway i went to this one#it was funny bc i actually got there before the other protesters and had no idea what to do or where to go#i took the public bus while the other union members took the union bus or drove there#so i was just sitting on a bench for like 30 mins until the other members showed up#they had this whole routine practiced and ready to go and i learned the chant by the end of the protest#the whole thing lasted around 30 mins and then they dispersed and the ppl who work for the company who are anti-union came and screamed#it was kind of funny to watch cuz our chairperson was trying to reason w them and then just left#he said fuck that#they gave me a union vest but korean sizes are so small it was a crop top for me lmfaoooo#it felt good to be at a protest again#it's been years since i've gone to one#union also got us lunch at a traditional korean restaurant and then coffee for our executives meeting#it feels nice to have a community like this
