more details below the cut if anyone’s interested to hear more about them:

Spock

-human appearance (still half human half Vulcan though ofc)

-> round ears, only slightly Vulcan-looking eyebrows, short haircut

-generally somewhat collected, still a bit emotionally closed off, maybe has been told off one too many times during his attempts to explain things in-depth 

-but gets EXCITED when he does get to talk about the things he finds fascinating (which is actually quite a lot, I think he’d be broadly interested in a lot of sciences, hence Starfleet lol, probably especially interested in maths, astronomy and physics, maybe philosophy too)

-people don’t actually know that his dad is the Vulcan ambassador growing up cause in typical Spock fashion he just never mentioned that part, so people generally only really find out about his Vulcan heritage if it relevantly comes up somehow or if somebody else mentions it (or if they saw it in his file), he’s not embarrassed or anything, he’s actually quite intrigued by it and does get Vulcan pointers from Sarek while growing up, he does actually bring up being half Vulcan way more than his father (or brother and sister etc), as that is relevant more often, for example to explain his super strength or to explain why he is the way he is™️

-very expressive, can’t hide a thought for anything, his eyebrow is already lethal imagine what would happen if he were to use his whole face

-> still a relatively steady and normal voice usually?

-very curious person

-due to less/almost no social pressure to behave like a true Vulcan, since they’re on Earth: has logical thinking for human standards, but also has human values embedded in his personality 

Kirek 

-one of the few Vulcans with a lighter shade of brown hair

-> has a bowl cut when first leaving Vulcan but starts challenging the standards for how a Vulcan should look while in Starfleet, resulting in his side bangs, as always just inside the lines but deviating from the standard enough to be noticed (in addition to the what values he’s already challenged internally)

-keeps finding ways to challenge the logic that’s the norm in a way that absolutely looks for loopholes and “technicalities” for his creative approaches to things

-> great at practicing logic but he’d do it in his own way that’s just within the lines + he’d argue well enough for it to be convincing enough for no one to be able to say anything against it 

    -> his superiors would still keep an eye on him and be skeptical even if he  “technically still acts within the lines of logic” and he does that just well enough  not to be declared a V’tosh ka’tur

-finds logic important and acts based on it as it is often the best way to do things, but sees the flaws as well as the benefits of it 

-> well aware of logic’s impact all around

-> therefore keeps an eye on whether there are approaches that would make  more sense than classic logic might suggest in some cases

-doesn’t make as many friends on Vulcan as human Jim would on Earth with this kind of demeanor

-finds a way to argue for pretty much anything and everything to be important to an extend, never completely dismissing something

M’Koy

-joined Starfleet to share the advanced Vulcan medical knowledge effectively, since his expertise is more useful to a big organization such as this one helping all sorts of species’ in various corners of the universe, rather than exclusively on Vulcan

-never really had a sense of belonging on Vulcan for that reason, since there is an alternative where he can follow his goal more effectively, does not practice that cultural duty to his people, because he refuses to get stuck on one singular planet helping only his own people (he’s tried and it did not sit right with him)

-> that plays a huge point in his parting from Jocelyn and their daughter

-is satisfied with how much he can help on the Enterprise

-does get increasingly frustrated with logic and order not sliding as smoothly and as in accord as he’s used to though

-> finds it more comfortable (some might even say comforting) to be around Spock as someone who also favors order and practices it well enough, as well as Kirek, who does not seem to need order as much as him, but who does actually bring some order onto this ship in the way he practices his authority 

-does not talk as much as Kirek because he is afraid to  does not desire to slip up on his Vulcan form of calmness 

-> therefore might get especially quiet when he’s angry because he learned early on that that only gets him patronized by other Vulcans and with that even more frustrated

Friendships

Kirek & M’Koy

-respect eachother and get a sense of being understood by the other without much judgement, as they both rejected parts of the Vulcan way in their own way

-McCoy finds comfort in having another Vulcan around, almost like a little piece of his home, while he was aiming to leave his whole life, he is now finding himself missing certain structures of his home, he never favored Vulcan culture to that extend, but he had never known anything else

Kirek & Spock

-Kirk actually listens to Spock’s rants and often proves that he has considered all the information provided by him by mentioning them or even using them on the search for a solution 

-engages in lively discussions

-finds Spock’s nature intriguing

-Spock asks a lot of questions about Vulcans in an attempt to learn more about his culture through people who have lived it

M’Koy & Spock

-irritated by the amount of over information Spock practices

-> might try to subtly cut him off to bring the conversation further, but this could lead to Spock often having something to add on that he would’ve gotten to if he hadn’t been cut off

-also finds him intriguing though, you don’t see a Vulcan-human-hybrid everyday, let alone be friends with them

-> might attempt to subtly study him to better understand how the two species’ have mixed within him

-Spock asks a lot of questions about Vulcans in an attempt to learn more about his culture through people who have lived it

ILLYA KURYAKIN (The man from U.N.C.L.E)

gay ass little Russian spy I love him he is so *dramatic* and a huge nerd and a Beatles fan and into fashion design- perfect pocket size blorbo ;w; also seeing a Russian character being given a positive leading role in an American tvshow from the 60s ?? Yes he lives in New York and works for UNCLE America.... But he is still a communist ?? Incredible ! Also I really like the fact he isn't given the cliché personality traits often given to Russian characters i e anger issues drinks a lot violent ect (looking at you shitty(imo) modern remake... What did you do to my little guy ;;). In a close contest with Spock for the "gayest man from tvshow" of the 60s..... And in my heart he is winning djdkd for me the gay subtext of muncle hits so much more because it's not a scifi show- it's closer to home, Napoleon and Illya were *like that* in the present day of the 60s, they were both human, and no alien fuckery made them go to the village more than once or play house in the suburbs or get attached ass up to get pegged on a regular basis... Truly a show that feels written by an old queen and a guy with the biggest fem dom fetish jkvjjkb (don't get me wrong tho I adore star trek tos and spirk too <3)

KUROO HAZAMA and PINOKO (Black Jack)

sometimes I rewatch some of the oavs from the 90s when I'm sad :) I had a huge phase a couple years back when I read nearly all the manga (should really finish it... Or reread the whole thing frankly), watched *all* the shows (bar young black jack, hated that shit) and idk I just love this venal bitch so much- him and his daughter and his conflicted feelings for his tboy ex that he still loves kfkfkf btw I'm dying for a modern take on this like please please please I'd love to see Kei Kisaragi's story rewritten a bit (trans character in the 70s sure was progressive but oh boy-), because him and black jack's relationship makes me so *weak*.... And maybe see him a bit more than in one story- anyway ! When it comes to his daughter Pinoko, it's very hit or miss- when the writers lean on the cute father adoptive daughter relationship it's great, when they lean more on the whole "she has a crush on him" (very much like a child in most case, and he *never* reciprocate thank god) and bring up the fact she is technically 18 a lot (she was an evil tumor trapped in her sister before he created a body for her- black jack shit dw), and she gets jealous of other women.... Well it's terrible and I'm uncomfy :(

EVA KANT (Diabolik)

Look.... You just can't show me danger diabolik 1968 and not expect me to become insane djdkdkdk she is so cool ;; !!! Her and her devious eel of a man (here as a panther, because even tho I haven't read the comic yet, I'm taking an educated guess that all the panther imagery is here to represent him, the lethal twunk always in the all black gimp suit... And if it's not then fuck my entire life ig fjfkkd), the cuntiest het couple you've ever seen, such freaks I love them ! Partners in crime that will blow up the tax offices of the whole country if you try to put a bounty on them <3 they are in the guilty faves category only because I'm this invested in these characters after 1 (one) movie fkfkf watched the first two remakes and was hmmm let's say underwhelmed, could have been worse but going after the 60s one ie peak cinema was hard... I went in fully invested in these heterosexuals and they still fucked up their romance and relationship ;; (don't spoil me the third one btw haven't seen it yet ! I know it's the yaoi one- which doesn't give me much hope for Eva tbh...) I'll soon start reading the comics tho ! Managed to find all twelve volumes of "Il grande Diabolik" in french for pretty cheap so I'm excited for that :D (might scan them and upload them online because omg I tried finding scans in *any* language and only found a dubious website that sold digital copies for 7€ a volume ??? What is this)

UTA (The Void / Тургор / Turgor / Tension)

Apathy girlyyyyy she just like me for real for real nfkfk what absolutely charmed me about her is yes her design, but more importantly her chamber's design (if you've never played the void, a sister's chamber is a space that represent her. You get a sense of who she is by exploring her chamber before finding her and talking to her soul it's great). The lonely island out at sea, her laying down on a suspended steel boat in a grotto, looking passively at the moon by a crack on the ceiling.... And the moon is looking back. Incredible ! I love this game so much

KIM KITSURAGI (Disco Elysium)

Do I really have to explain this one ? When I played the game with quiji I remember I kept saying "when Kim talks, we *listen*" djkdk we did get a good grade in Kim Kitsuragi and got him to dance in the church <3 this fucking centrist cop wormed it's way into my heart and many others because of course he did. The only Kim K in my eyes. Also funny anecdote : before I played Disco Elysium, I had one concept art masterclass where a kinda famous concept artist came to give advice, make us really stressed then give us a shitty grade.... And when I tell you this man looked so much like Kim ??? Same haircut, glasses, face with a scar *exactly* where Kim's portrait has a stark shadow on his cheek and he was dressed in an orange top- truly uncanny. Anyway, Kim is so fucking cool how does he do it

DARK VADOR (La guerre des étoiles)

*sight* not surprising if you know me... and to be clear when I say Vader I don't mean Anakin Skywalker, post barbecue only zouz here. I refuse to yap about this man djdkdk I already do that way to much in ao3 comment sections

Someone made a post about how it's a shame that the triumvirate don't have all three shirt colours. And I agree! Simplest way would be to reimagine sciences as part of the ships operations, so just make the science shirt red too and give that to Spock, but instead I'm gonna take the colours as intended by canon

Captain McCoy? Wild. Totally different show. Spock as his 2IC would be CRAZY but I love it. Kirk as engineer works very well, he loves the ship and has a more holistic sense of battle than McCoy cos McCoy's all about saving lives

They sit down, head together and figure out the ethical approach, and Spock rocks up like "you barely understand how this ship works". I think actually id make Spock weapons not engines here, just cos the pacifist culture constantly breaking his own vow cos McCoy or Kirk was in danger is so juicy

Functionally canon. Could take Spock as engineer but I'd miss Scotty. Giving him a role like crew management makes sense as a red shirt, it's operational. This feels like suuuuch a wildcard lol. Spock's captain. I'm not even sure who the xo is here, I think it makes more sense for it to be McCoy in an operations role while Kirk is full science nerd coming in with some facts. Except McCoy has no interest in command. Maybe he's doing it in more of a union-y way, like they gave captain Spock the first Vulcan in Starfleet an xo who will argue the emotions of the crew as paramount just to make sure he doesn't go so logical it's cruel. I think in this version, Kirk makes most of the decisions anyway cos Spock and McCoy are so at odds and need a tiebreak vote

I have a complicated relationship with this story because it's too intimate, too personal, too angsty, one that gets under my skin and reminds me of things I don't always want to think about.

But this is without a doubt one of the best, literary-heartbreakingly-written AOS fics. There's a lot of talking about books, thinking about love and grief, and having sex. And it's all expressed through a wonderful play on words. Strangely, I find this a very AOS thing, my personal headcanon, something from my youth that I miss in this easy way - forgotten Allen Ginsberg's Howl on the table, paperbacks in jacket pocket, the muted jazz of Morphine, the deserted streets of the heat of stifling summer nights, the feel of hot asphalt under bare feet, the shared moisture of kisses, that incomprehensible physicality of life. And it is this difference in physicality that, for me, makes AOS and TOS so unlike each other, the result of the half-century lying between them, something that makes AOS simpler, more down-to-earth, not as mythical, not as ancient in its depth, not as fateful as TOS, and that's why I love them so (equally) differently.

It's a replay of STID, but it isn't really tied as much to the external plot as it is to the internal, to the feelings and sensations, to the thoughts and memories, all those things that go on in our heads, and that scream and cry and want to be seen. And this is a fairly rare and good example of working with memories of Tarsus in the AOS universe, with an ofc that really touched me. It's not an easy read, there's a lot of talk about grief and loss and guilt and shame, but it's healing, not destructive. And it's very beautiful.

Finding quotes this time was a difficult task, given the length of this text, and my aesthetic infatuation with almost every line, but as always, a few, actually a lot (almost non-spoiler) quotes:

Mom, what's at the end of the sky? And she'd say, well, space, the universe. And I knew that, because of dad and everything. But then I'd ask: what's at the end of the universe? And she'd say, nothing, nothing; and I'd say, but what's actually there?; and she'd say OK, OK then Jimmy, a brick wall. A big brick wall. A big red brick wall. Is there a door? I'd ask. No, she'd say. No door.

It... speaks to me, you know? It's one of those texts that just, you know, grabs you by the throat and shakes you and makes you feel feelings.

There is a line from Wonderland: “You’re not the same as you were, you’ve lost your muchness. You used to be much more…. muchier". Spock has never understood that line, but now he thinks he does. There is a 'muchness' about Jim. Spock isn't one for imprecise language, but it is the closest he can come to, in words, for what he admires most in Jim. Muchness.

Spock stoops and then gently slots the photograph back where it has fallen from. He notices the last line of the book is underlined in thick, black ink: "It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known."

Spock leafs through the book. At the back, on the final page Jim has written something else, messily, almost as an afterthought: 'I still wouldn't do it. And neither would you. And I am glad.'

But it was not the story itself that I truly wished for. No more than it had been the singing. It was my mother's warm hand on my brow, the occasions she believed I had already fallen asleep when she would run her fingers very lightly all around my face, down my nose and across my jaw, and then up the curve of each ear.

On occasion it comes back to me, though unbidden: I was someone's heart's own darling once. I am reminded of it at foolish times, inappropriate times.

I would kiss you. Unbidden, and unexpected, like all the best of thoughts, the worst of thoughts. Stealthy, unexpected, and yet at the moment of contact it has always been there, always there.

He is breathing hard. He half laughs. His eyes are closed. Then he says softly, "Hey." And two of his fingers find Spock's, and his fingers are slightly damp with sweat, and Spock's skin sings for the moisture. What are all these kissings worth / If thou kiss not me?

You don't give much, you know? But when you do, your smiles, they're like gold to me, Spock. They're the most precious things I've ever been given.

"But you don't know what it was like for me." Spock is so very still. Only the passing shadows on his face, the darkness and sporadic ember glow of his eyes. "No. I do not." "I am not just part of one homogenous mass of human behaviour. I'm me." "Yes. You are."

Then he says, "There is something Surak says: Ri vath natya-vik k'svi khaf-spol-tu. Ein boshau k'tik sov-masu-rom. Vath ri irak-glu na'ish. In Standard you would say: There are different wells within your heart. Some fill with each good rain. Others are far too deep for that.”

A little while after that, Jim is hovering above the velvet precipice of sleep, when he thinks he hears Spock say: “I would not have you any different.” But that might just have been part of a dream.

Well, it's important, isn't it? To understand a place. It's like when I think of home, I think of how it smells. The smell of summer in Iowa. The scent when the corn's being cut. Hawaiian Tropic sun lotion, new flip flops on hot pavement, warm dog's belly, burgers on a barbecue. That's home. That's how it feels to be home, to have it in your ears, your eyes, your nose.

What were you fighting for if not to try and protect all the little things you love. All the perfect, tiny, inconsequential things that make it all worthwhile.

I reached for her and it was too late. I reached for her. There is a part of me that is still reaching.

"I wish to be inside you," Spock replies, kissing at the side of Jim's face, the hair on his temples. "You are," Jim says, resting his forehead against Spock's. "You already are."

"No," Spock says, recklessly, impetuously, thrillingly, "It is you, your nearness." Jim's smile deepens. "I make you come over all illogical." "You do." He finds Jim's mouth. Rivers. Lightening. Blood.

"Is that how you like me, Spock? In the darkness?" There is a thundering in his temples, a strange, blind sort of wanting. "No. No. I like you in the light."

Spock is silent momentarily, then he says in a new voice, a voice Jim has not heard before, gritty and stretched. "If you were to die -" He pauses as if searching for the right words, something he never usually does. "If you were to die-"

He moves his hand away in shock. I wanted you to touch me, and you did not, and now you are touching me.

Scars, that mark the pale pain of his survival. This will work, Jim thinks. It will work. He can do this. After all, Jim Kirk is damaged goods. And if life has taught him nothing else it has taught him that damaged people are dangerous. They know they can survive.

Fear. Swooping and endless. This is what he has tried to avoid. That night he lay by Jim's side, wakeful in the darkness, listening to the slow, heavy slump of Jim's heart, touching the soft, vulnerable parts of his body.

"I could have found her. I could have held her hand." This is what he should have said to Jim, then, when Jim had told him about Lyla: It would have hurt her worse if you had been there. It would have killed her a thousand times to see you die too. If she loved you. If she loved you, that would be the most terrifying thing of all, to have you hold her hand. She would want you to live. Live, live.

And I knew what he wanted from me, and that it was wanted. I knew what he wanted, and I could give it. And it was such a little thing, the giving, such a little thing, even though it had illogically appeared as though it were the biggest thing of all.

The warm willingness of his blood. How breakable Jim was, how tender. He thinks on how much that used to scare him. But the fragility is part of the beauty. He sees that now. Every love story is a potential grief story. That's the whole point.

The realisation comes to him then, slowly and with a sense of dislocated surprise, that he has been wrong all along. For even now, even now with the heartbreak he finds he is gladder than he has ever been to look upon the sky. Everything, everything that happened, even if Jim is lost to him forever, is worth it, because of the colour of the sky. Now it will always mean something to him. Always. And he finds he would not have it any other way.

He finds that he misses Jim not just physically, intellectually, socially, but also morally. But loving Jim was always about seriousness and truth. How could it not have been? Spock sees that now. Loving Jim was the most logical action in the Universe, because it made him better.

There is a line from a book and it goes like this: At first he only dipped below the surface of sleep, and skimmed along like a salmon in shallow water, so close to the surface that he fancied himself in air. He thought himself awake when he was already asleep.

"Jim." Spock pushes the hair back from Jim's brow, and then he says, "Istau nash-veh tu-gluvau lu du sa'awek il svi'mu'gel'es, tauraun ha'ge-tu hasu." "Surak?" "Yes. He says: I wish I could show you when you are lonely or in the darkness, the astonishing light of your own being."

But Spock smiles back, the little half-smile-not-quite-a-smile Jim'd first fallen in love with, natural and guileless, a smile that has no intention to charm. It makes Jim's throat ache. Gold, gold, gold from straw.

This man is the most bisexual to ever bisexual. The way Jim Kirk looks at Spock on the bridge, or in his quarters, or on missions, cannot be straight. But also, the way he has hella game and can seduce with women as if his life depends on it (which it often does) is highly impressive. He genuinely falls for some women, but also genuinely falls for some men. In fact, he does not care if you are a man, woman, NB, agender, alien, or anything in between. He just wants to have a good time. Oh also, he once asked if there were any men on a planet of female androids that were created for the sole purpose of romance and got confused when there weren’t. And ofc who can forget how he said he would “stimulate” a male Andromedan. If that doesn’t scream bisexual idk what does.

ep 1 - no notes. the conclusion to the s2 ending. can't wait to have my heart hurt a little <3

ep 2 - my mind immediately thinks of christine for some reason. like, i don't think it's possible between hegemonic and ep 2 that she's already met roger and gets hitched. weirder things have happened. this could also have something to do with t'pring, maybe, bc they've already played a little bit with her relationship with spock. could be totally unrelated to the crew too WAIT AS IM TYPING THIS SAM???? SAM KIRK MAYBE??? but also. yeah, could be unrelated to the crew marrying someone and its just shenanigans

ep 3 - makes me think of gallileo 7 (seven? i can't remember if the number is written out or not). so maybe some sort of accident? uhura focus?

ep 4 - this is going to be our holodeck shenanigans episode. i feel it in my bones. obviously i could be wrong! but i do remember asking christina and ethan if s3 had a fun episode like elysian kingdom and subspace rhapsody, and im pretty certain they said yes and it was in the first half of the season so.... plus the name makes it sound like a variety show kinda thing (and also makes me think of spn's changing channels ep) so.... im so confident in this (can't wait to be wrong <3)

ep 5 - la'an episode? idk this one is harder to place for me, i don't really have any true thoughts yet, outside of maybe la'an given her ep in s2 OR they'll play around with ab episode like city on the edge of forever

ep 6 - hopefully something fun BUT also has the potential to be heartbreaking. spock related? visiting Vulcan? im so interested

ep 7 - i feel like this is gonna be our Big Emotional episode. like there's still opportunity for all of them to be emotional, but this is gonna be it. maybe emotional isn't the right word. maybe Philosophical is the better fit. yeah, i think so. maybe something to do with una again, but also maybe chris and his place in it? i feel pretty confident about this one too

ep 8 - s'chnn t'gai family drama. sybok mention. probably sarek, sybok, t'pring, spock related. it could be unrelated ofc but the half in four and a half made me think of spock immediately and we know sybok has been hinted at in s1. it would also be very fun to see angel again <3

ep 9 - potential philosophical episode again? makes me think of carol's terraforming tbh, and she's also been named dropped so maybe something to do with that??

ep 10 - honestly my first thought was oh this is gonna be chris' accident. there's no reason for me to think this, and honestly, i think they would save that until the final season. we know we're getting a s4 and i think it would be stupid to give jim captaincy at this point. maybe we'll be introduced to another member of the tos crew (give me bones please) but i see this as just another episode, definitely going to lead into s4

My big take on why spock did undertake Kolinahr despite being more comfortable with the "human part" of himself at the end of the season three is that the the whole five year mission (and especially you can see it in season three) was questioning his belonging to vulcan-kind. And not (only) in a way of "haha you're feeling in emotion YOU'RE A FOCKEN HUMANNNNNNN!!!!"

I need you to understand that he experienced very traumatizing events, that questions his "vulcanity"(akin to humanity, man idk how else to call it).

Like let's just for the sake of this post imagine that the main "humanity" defying things are bodily autonomy and our free will. And when a human gets raped they are a) objectified/sexualised in the process b) sometimes afterwards a person objectifies themselves as a coping mechanism, either way this traumatic thing breaks a bond between a person and their sense of "humanity"

Back to spock - in season three we have two episodes that deliberately and violently break his bond with his vulcan identity. We have "plato children" and "all our yesterdays". In both episodes Spock is forced to go against Surak's teachings - the very essence of being a vulcan (to spock ofc)

In Plato children, Spock was forced to show emotions and then even endangered kirk, and I need to point out the method of how it was forced upon him - his body was controlled, i.e. he himself, in his mind, did understand that it was wrong, he didn't wanted it and he was mentally present while this thing was happening to him. Like the whole thing was awful and absolutely horrible for him and it's generally, without joking, a fuking traumatizing event for him, and I personally think he would've come back to it and go through a mental hell all over again. And I also want to notice that at least his mind was under his own control.

Which is not the case with All of our yesterdays. In that episode (however fucking stupid I think it is for lore contradictions and implications and etc.) Spock loses control not only over his body, he loses control over his mind. Basically everything that was happening in the plato children (showing emotions, forced intimacy etc) is present in the episode, but on top of that spock is forced to actually like it. And i need to emphasise it HE'S GOING THROUGH THE SAME FUCKING TRAUMATIC EVENT OF BREAKING HIS IDENTITY AND THIS TIME HIS MIND CONTROLLED TO LIKE THIS ACT OF VIOLENCE AGAINST HIS BEING!!! HELLLOOOOOO

And I think there's a difference between "we're trying to show spock that he's also a bit human" and "we're breaking spock's vulcan identity". In the first one we're still acknowledge Spock as vulcan, but also proposing that he might try embracing an additional identity, in the second one we're just breaking his sense of self.

And I think that this two instances(and maybe others that I forgor lol) is the root of why he undertook Kolinahr. And then, on top of that root cause of "I've lost the sense of being vulcan" there was this problem with "oh god I think I've become too human"

And also I think the time at starfleet just generally changed him so fucking much that at some point he(metaphorically) just didn't recognize himself in the mirror.

So I think Kolinahr was a kind of an attempt to return to his old (outdated) self, regaining his "vulcanity". Though at the end of the day he's not a human nor he's vulcan, he's not the sum of his separate identities but something more grate than that, that's why he failed Kolinahr, that's why he came to terms with who he is

Anywho, I wanted to ask your opinion on Brilliant Minds? My mom asked if I saw the previews before it came out and I kinda did but didn’t. And before I invest in another new show (got High Potential and Doctor Odyssey on the roster now lol) I was wanting some feedback from people I trust. I mean, I liked Zachary Quinto as Spock and Teddy Sears KILLED it as Zoom on The Flash so I kinda wanna watch just for them anyway, but.. do I *really* need another new show to try and watch? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

well if you choose to watch something new, it should definitely be Brilliant Minds imho

first of all, you have the above mentioned great cast at your hand and some new young faces who have been doing an amazing job playing the interns, like seriously, everyone is great!

second of all, yeah it's a bit corny, but the show itself is very interesting for unexpected reasons. like, it's a procedural, but it doesn't necessarily feel like one? normally on medical dramas, especially the ones centered around diagnostics the mystery of whatever's going on with this week's patient is the rush, but on BM it's almost secondary compared to the human experience of the patients and their doctors.

they don't just magically fix them up at the end of the episode, they figure out what's wrong, admit that sometimes there is no way of knowing what's causing something and then they come up with ways for the patients to adapt to their conditions. i frankly couldn't name another show that does that.

the way they give us small nuggets about the characters' backgrounds without giving away too much is done to a perfection and every single character is interesting and loveable in their own way (i'm not saying you're gonna love everyone but they all have the potential) and the dynamics are chef's kiss between all of them, seriously.

and then ofc there is the fact that the show has openly queer and/or neurodivergent characters and actors on the cast.

the only thing i could say "against" it is that it sucks you in shockingly fast and you get attached without realising it

Random Star Trek thought; Spock should be sterile right? I mean it’s like heavily emphasised that he is a hybrid and as he’s half human he’d be a mammal hybrid and since he’s male it’s likely that he’d be unable to reproduce.(Like mules or male ligers)

Idk it’s just a recurring thought i’ve had and I’m no biologist so maybe my science is off but I thought it was kinda interesting since the whole Spock - Saavik kid thing. Ofc Star Trek is set in the future so this doesn’t matter too much since science is always expanding and there could be a cure to infertility or something? James T. Kirk

When you said that you have a surprise for him this Valentine's he was nervous but excited.

He had tried to make each Valentine's Day special, one year he even surprised you in bed by wearing a very sexy pair of yellow lingerie.

But this year you were going to surprise him!

He practically runs to your shared quarters and has to hold himself back as he knocks on the doors.

When he walks in and sees you sitting on his bed, wrapped up in a thick red ribbon with a comically large tag that reads: To Kirk

He can't help but chuckle slightly. His face is bright red. This has always been a bit of a fantasy for him.

He's pulling at his collar and stuttering slightly.

"You, you - This is quite a surprise."

He saunters up to you trying to be seductive but you can tell he's just too excited.

He gently pulls at the ribbon wrapped around your torso.

You feel his breath tickle your ear as he leans in and whispers.

"I can't wait to unwrap you."

S'Chn T'Gai Spock

When you said that you have a surprise for him this Valentine's he was skeptical.

He had tried to understand the meaning of the holiday but to show such affection openly was not what Vulcans did. So he often would give you a bouquet of flowers and read some kind of sentimental poetry when you were alone.

However, at the end of his shift, he is curious about what you have planned.

He walks a few paces faster than normal back to your shared quarters. He even skips a little.

When he walks in and sees you sitting on his bed. His face flushes the same shade of green as the ribbon you're wrapped in.

He tries to keep his composure but you look so tempting to him. He isn't used to this sudden feeling.

He gasps slightly as you slyly shift your position to a more sultry pose.

"My wife, are you in the stages of your pon farr?"

You giggle and gesture for him to come closer.

He willingly approaches and reaches his hands out to you. He runs his fingers over your exposed skin and silk thread.

He then gently cups your face feeling your want and desire for him. You see him, just briefly, crack a small smile.

"I shall be as gentle as I can, however, I can not guarantee you will go blemished."

Leonard McCoy

When you said that you have a surprise for him this Valentine's he was suspicious.

He had tried to do something nice for Valentine's Day before but it never seemed to go as planned.

He was curious and enjoyed the idea of you surprising him.

He seems to be in a better mood through most of his shift. He expects something quiet like a nice candlelit meal and dancing.

He's completely gobsmacked when he walks into your shared quarters.

He feels like a teenager seeing a (beautiful boy / gorgeous girl / perfect partner) in their bed for the first time.

He clamps his hand over his mouth because it is about to fall on the floor.

"I didn't know you'd go all out, aren't I just the luckiest man alive."

You giggle and puff your chest out tempting him to pull the bow.

He skips the bow and gently cups your face, giving you a strong sweet kiss.

His other hand trails down the ribbon and pulls at it slightly teasing you.

"I feel bad not getting you anything, but I'll show you how much I appreciate you."

Extra Holiday Special:

They were confused when you said that you had a surprise for them.

You had them scratching their heads all day.

On the turbolift ride down to your shared quarters the three of them talked about what you might have planned.

Kirk seems to be excited while McCoy and Spock are still trying to figure out what you've done.

They find their quarters empty until they hear music coming from the bedroom.

When they see you Kirk and McCoy are completely shocked, while Spock raises an eyebrow.

Kirk quickly goes from shock to excitement.

McCoy is still trying to process what is going on.

And Spock is still holding his cold stone exterior complemented by a bright green blush.

"You naughty (boy, girl, thing)."

"Who gets to unwrap them first?"

"This is quite a display ashal-veh."

The three basically fight over who gets what, it's kind of cute.

Spock leads the charge by approaching you first.

Kirk practically rips his own shirt off.

McCoy is trying to pick a fight with Spock on who gets to go first.

"Best gift I've ever received."

"Next time, he'll want us to do this."

"I am not opposed to such an idea."

Haiii ^-^ I really like the gods' designs in mlp rw and I'm very curious to hear more abt them… Anything you wanna share about their characters or their relationships or their powers or worldbuilding elements? 👀

YAY not much atm beyond just Vibes but here’s just a list of things from off the top of my head:

-my thought is that perhaps they’d all live in a different plane of existence like disc does in canon (might just steal Skyros from g5 but instead of alicorns it’s the gods n all that lol)

-none of them are inherently evil nor good. All start neutral but choose paths later— discord going too far with his chaos but not outright malicious, concord being about peace and order and all but gets that through harmful means/punishing (hence the ties to canon show lore w the wind spirits appearing when there is disharmony), esse is the most traditionally god-like so would be very quiet/Not All There in a way?, cosmos is the balance with it of creation and destruction BUT note. Not death. Just like esse is creation but not Life if that makes any sense at all lmao?? SK honestly is just an asshole LOL no real deeper reasons beyond that tbh that and having a huge ego, serenity (aka allura but I renamed ofc)(was gonna call her aroura to get the same name sound but aroura are at night so that didn’t exactly work w her theme and cyclone and serenity has a good ring) I’ve not thought as hard on but will be one of the in quotes good ones but probably would be kinda bossy/not perfect/almost goth maybe lol? -i hc the gods have a rule of not messing w eachothers business, hence the answer to the age old “why was discord not in the movie/why didn’t he help” question has an answer here lol

-concords hc voice is Spock from star trek to match that discord is a from star trek <3 (here’s a bit of their actors interacting bc they didn’t in the show iirc?? Idk Star Trek don’t quote me on it)

-another concord idea is bc he’s a winter god and snowdrop is in my rw, I like the idea the snowflakes used to all be identical before they befriended her and they were inspired by her to make snowflakes individual/unique/go against his nature

-dynamics: disc causing intentional highjinx vs con who is very dry/no nonsense, SK vs serenity intentionally annoying eachother they’re one of those siblings who fight all the time and piss eachother off, cosmos very bitter and angry at being banished from Skyros bc she went too far in her destructiveness so she hatesssss all of them not just Esse

-I like the fact Storm is white/cloud colored but Serenity is grey/storm cloud colored teehees I’ll definitely have fun making final colors for her (and maybe a updated SK ref just bc I’ve drawn him a bit more/got his stylization down since the first doodle)

-I like con is Oder but is the only one to break the rule of the gods all having wings bc he runs off Chinese dragon rules to contrast discord traditional dragon rules :3

-initially my doodle of esse was gonna be the one with bug wings but I preferred the look of feathered ones so to not waist the idea I swapped it over to allura bc I think the sectioned colors will look really nice that way, and makes the clear sky idea fitting seeing as bugs are only out when it’s sunny/not raining/butterflies flying around gives the visual of peace

-even though they come from skyros I don’t think they all live there but they travel back and fourth to do their jobs (sk would only leave to cause storms, con leaves for snowstorms (usually stays around crystal empire tho), etc you get the idea they’re not always there it’s just when they are from, esse methinks would be only one to really Stay there and not leave

Sorry this took a bit, and that I didn't follow your prompt completely, but inspiration hit me so here it goes:

Summary:

Jim is sick, and McCoy has burnt himself out taking care of the captain. Spock has an idea to resolve one of those issues.

Preview of the story:

“Spock!” McCoy yelps as Spock shifts him into a more comfortable position. The doctor throws his arms around Spock’s neck. “If you drop me, I’ll never let you live it down.”

“I will not drop you.” Spock’s certainty was enough to seemingly assuage McCoy’s nerves. Instead as the pair round the bed, McCoy turns to glare at Jim.

“You planned this somehow.” The accusatory tone would usually be enough to make Jim nervous, instead the captain simply laughs as much as his sore throat would allow without triggering a coughing fit.

“You are tired, Doctor McCoy. You’re mental faculties and physical body have begun to show clear signs of a condition humans call, ‘burnt out’.” Spock carefully lays McCoy at the top of the bed, letting his legs dangle off. Spock bends down and quick removes the doctor’s shoes. He rises, preparing to take them away.

“Oh no you don’t!” McCoy’s fingers firmly pinch Spock’s sleeve. “Jim, this teacher’s pet hasn’t slept at all in the last two days,” McCoy wags a finger at Spock with his free hand. “And don’t you try to deny it. I have evidence.”

Spock’s jaw tightens. Jim tilts his head further back up the pillow. “Sounds like you should join us Spock.”

(Wanted to use a gif of McCoy and Spock putting Kirk in a sickbay bed, but I couldn't remember the episode. It's 3:17am here. I'm too tired to keep looking haha. XD )
