                                               — On the wicked wings of time, thy kingdom comes
Meet [ Kim Hyeon Ju ]
He is a [ twenty-six] year old  [ bodyguard ] currently residing in [ studio 57, #406 ]. Visit  and greet  him today!
Personality:
Hyeon Ju has always had a personality that speaks volumes all its own. Stubborn, temperamental, and fiercely protective of his close loved ones, his carries himself like a brawler ready for his next fight, eyes as bright and wild as the cosmos he carries in his heart. He’s not beyond socializing, but he dislikes the feeling when he gets too deeply involved in a conversation and will randomly change the subject or walk away if he doesn’t want to get deeper. Witty and clever, his tongue is as sharp as his bite, but he has a soft side to him that he only really shows to his closest friends and his mother.
Spirit: Asteria - Titan Goddess of Falling Stars and Prophecies
Power: Asterokinesis
As the vessel of Asteria, Kim Hyeon Ju has the power of Asterokinesis, allowing him to control and manipulate various forms of cosmic energy. He has no where near the capabilities that Asteria possessed and cannot move planets or create an island in the middle of the sea. What he can do is summon and manipulate the energy of stars, planets, and particles of cosmic substances originating from or embody remnants of dead stars, nebula, and meteorites to a very minor degree. He doesn’t possess the knowledge of these abilities at this time but he is capable of learning them if he uses his powers more or lets Asteria ‘take over’ as she did when he Awakened.
He has great trouble using this power due to a mental barrier blocking him from reaching his full potential after his brutal and scarring Awakening. As a result, its the final resort after the first several last resorts fall through to any combative situation. The most he has been able to produce on the spot is absorbing solar energy into himself and expelling it outward in self defense in a solar flare.  He can do the same with stellar manipulation at night. Mostly however, he uses the ability for silly, simple things, such as lighting his cigarette with the tip of his finger.
To sum it up : he can do fancy hand tricks and expel energy through objects (like a gun for that badass aesthetic, of course), but if he does much more, he believes there is a chance he’ll explode and bye bye Kim Hyeon Ju. In reality, he’s simply scared of what will happen if he uses his power and how it will effect those around him.
Biography:
Like the stars that fall from the sky, Kim Hyeon Ju was conceived into the world in the same manner. A rush of fire, of passion and lust, a one night stand that evaporated like dust. His mother, Kim Su Jong, found out she was pregnant not a few weeks later, but she was never able to find his father again, his face a fading memory as the days wore on and his name, once known, never again spoken on her forgotten lips. She would have reached out to family for aide but she’d been raised by her grandmother, her only relative in Korea, and she had passed away years before.
So young, barely on the cusp of turning twenty three, and all alone in the world, Su Jong almost gave up on Hyeon Ju. Years later, she would guiltily tell him of her fears, of her uncertainty of raising a child on her own, how she had tried to be strong but had been so close to letting go and how an angel had graced her dreams and steadied her resolve. His mother had never in her life been religious, but when she began to dream of the star lit sky, of dancing between constellations with a night kissed skinned woman with eyes brighter than the sun and lips like the universes edge… Well, she just knew there was something greater at work in her life and whatever happened, she had to stay strong for her unborn child. Nine months passed and at long last, Su Jong brought Kim Hyeon Ju into the world.
The boy was not like most children from the get go; too smart, too curious and far too mature for his age. He carried himself like royalty, but he had an explosive personality that spoke volumes all its own. Energetic, brazen, and bull headed to the core, he dived into situations without thought, often winding up in more trouble than he could typically handle. His mother, in later years, would tease him, calling him her little champion. But Hyeon Ju remembers, vividly, how her hands had trembled as she wrapped his bruised knuckles and the cold, wet tears of her worry staining into the bandages. She lived for the moments he came running, paint streaked across his face rather than bruises, how his eyes lit up when she told him about the stars in the sky and how his lips kissed each of their names like they were the most precious of treasures. Su Jong looked at Hyeon Ju and saw beyond his temper, beyond the hardened skin of a child raised without a father and up in the streets, at the brightness of his existence. He walked like a hero but in his smile, she saw the self loathing of a boy who had no faith in the world around him; as much as the polluted skies cherished the constellations.
Su Jong would like to say the boys life got easier with time but the fact remained that their family was still poor, and he had no father.
In his early years of primary school, the young Kim boy was the subject of a lot of ridicule among his fellow peers who took one look at him and summed him up to be nothing but scum off the street, their words vicious and cruel for children so young. Being a child born out of wedlock, he and his mother we’re singled out even among their neighbors, and he was picked on and even bullied by the other children in the neighborhood. At first he ignored their judgmental stares and whispered insults, but when you tell a child something enough times, they begin to believe it. And he did. Hyeon Ju, throughout primary school, became more volatile, more explosive and temperamental, and some days, he barely spoke. He sunk into himself and Su Jong could do nothing but watch as her starlight dimmed with every passing day, pushing through the unfairness of his life like the survivor that he was, trying to become more than what he believed himself to be.
His temper made little improvement as he progressed into middle school but when Su Jong encouraged him to vent out his anger into his studies, to work hard, maybe join a sports team or two, he tried to be better for her. He kept his fists shoved into his pockets for a time, eyes ablaze with anger cast downward, and tried to go with the flow of normal school life. He made fast friends, good and bad, his charming, natural grace and strong will attracting both. He joined the basketball and soccer team, and took out his anger in martial arts classes after school but he couldn’t help but feel like he didn’t belong there in the classroom, sitting behind a desk and listening for hours and hours on end to teachers brainwashing him on social etiquette. He itched to move, to fight and be fought. To feel the burn of a bruise forming, to see the lights blur in his vision. He started to slip. Began skipping classes, coming home late into the night smelling like ash and blood. His place was among the constellations, he would say to his closest friends, confessing in the quiet of the night how he felt like there was no where on earth he belonged and how maybe, just maybe, among the stars he’d find his home.
In high school, Su Jong was forced to draw a line when she found him drunk, passed out in front of their door one night. Worried for the man he was becoming, she packed up their bags and moved their family away from the poisoning streets he grew up on and relocated them to the city. His temper remained like an explosion behind his eyes, but gradually, he stopped reaching for the trigger. He grew into his handsome features, his looks, as beautiful and iridescent as the burning beacons that decorate the night, attracting more than just new friends. For a time, Hyeon Ju let himself get wrapped up in just feeling normal and let his guard down. He let someone into his life who should never have even brushed against his existence and as a result, he Awakened, brutally and all at once. He’d always had a strong, vivid connection with Asteria, but when everything clicked into place, it rocked him to the core of his being and suddenly everything was on fire. The hotel he’d been at that night burned to the ground, taking with it the man who’d triggered his Awakening. Hyeon Ju would be haunted by his screams for the next several years.
Suddenly confronted with who he was, what he was, and what he was capable of, the young adult turned away from the peaceful life he’d tried to live. He couldn’t be what his mother wanted him to be. He was a monster, he’d whisper late into the night. You are a wonder, Asteria would whisper back insistently to deaf ears. He slowly regained his bearings and made it through the rest of high school without further incident but he never was the same after that, even long after he graduated University. Life went on around him like nothing had ever transpired while he walked around with blood on his hands, stained by the cosmos he carried in his heart.
When he decided to pursue a degree in the medical program, it was mostly because of the influence of Tyler Lee, a family friend who wandered into his life towards the end of his high school career. A bit of a wild car and a play boy to the core, the man was a bad influence in every sense of the word except for his persistent encouragements for Hyeon Ju to go to med school. “You can do good work there, son. I’ve seen you walking around like you’ve got the worlds troubles on your shoulders. Maybe you’ll find your calling by helping out some good folks.” It might have been primarily because Tyler himself was a doctor, the CEO, in fact, of his family line of hospitals. Maybe the man intended to groom the young Kim boy into his heir but regardless of his intentions, Hyeon Ju got accepted into a University of Medicine there in the city.
Along the way, Hyeon Ju found that while he did enjoy the positive impact he made  on the lives of his patients while interning in his final year, it wasn’t what he wanted to do with his life. Sure, he wanted to help others, but he wanted to protect them, not heal them. In his time through med school, he had picked up some work part time as a security escort, a body guard so to speak, for acquaintances and some of the bigger fish Tyler had introduced him to. He decided to keep with it after University, turning it into his career rather than going into medicine. He has since built a solid client base, some gigs more frequent than others. He is not tied to any one client and does not hold any affiliation with any security escort company, making him a popular choice due to his reputation and commitment to his work.
