He would be taken to a junkyard. I couldn’t just watch him be thrown away. A perfectly good android like him would be a crime to waste away and rust.

Sure, he was covered in oil. Some of his pieces weren’t properly screwed on, and he definitely needed new clothes and his hair brushed; but, it was nothing a little elbow-grease and effort couldn’t handle.

So of course I took him home.

It took plenty of time to get him into actual working order, but once I finished, I was glad I chose to rescue him. He was gorgeous. Not only was he physically beautiful, but his hardware was extremely high quality and mostly fully functional. I had fine-tuned any bits that seemed off, but overall, he seemed to be perfect.

I took pride in my passion projects, and he would be no different. Sadly, I hadn’t had time to boot him up, but patience is a virtue.

But finally, I had time.

He stood before me, five-foot-ten of wires, metal, and artificial skin. His hair was softer than mine, and he had facial features to die for. I turned him on, but it seemed to take longer than it should, and I wondered if I wasn’t as good at robotics as I thought.

His eyes flashed with the standard blue bootup before settling into a realistic humanoid version of eyes. The color was a deep, rich brown that was easy to get lost in. His head slowly lifted up until he stared straight ahead. And then he was still, waiting.

It took some getting used to. I had lived with roommates before, but an android was not the same. He was much quieter when moving around and was not a great conversationalist. He was a great listener though.

But something else was different about him. He seemed rather clingy for a being that was supposed to be without emotions or attachments. Maybe it didn’t help that I had named him… Maybe androids are like pets, and if you name them then you’re doomed to be attached. But I couldn’t help myself.

I refused to walk around referring to him as “android” or “robot” or anything else of the sort. So I named him Taehyung, and he seemed to like it if the tiny upturn of his lips was any indication. Then I worked on helping him with new slang, tweaking his vocabulary and speech to sound more human-like.

But that still didn’t explain the touchiness. It started out with him occasionally laying a hand on my shoulder. Then, he began sitting closer to me when I relaxed in my living space, and he would brush his hand along my back when he passed by me in the kitchen. Eventually, he worked all the way up to resting his hand on my thigh, hugging me from behind, and petting my head.

He was acting like a lover would despite me never asking that of him. I had never seen such behavior in an android before, but I couldn’t deny that it was getting to me. I don’t know what he was trying to accomplish, but if he continued to act that way for much longer then I’d likely let him get away with whatever he desired.

“Why do you never use me for my purpose?” He finally asked me one night. It was rare that he spoke, let alone without me addressing him first.

“Your… purpose?” I stared up at him from my place on the couch, cross-legged and comfortable in my raggedy sweats and oversized tee. He moved to kneel in front of me, placing his hands gently on either of my knees.

“I was originally created as an android for sexual pleasure.” The words were monotone, but they still managed to send shockwaves through my stomach, settling in the pit of my abdomen and leaving behind an uncomfortable warmth. I'm not sure if you're still taking requests, but i had something on my mind all week and i'm really curious about how you would write it.

Hear me out: An Alien Jungkook, who is in need of some company for his almost ten years long mission around space, mistakes human reader as an android and ends up buying her.

She keeps on drinking water, so he thinks she's malfunctioning and takes her to an engineer, only to finally figure it out and get upset when said engineer wants to keep her for himself.

I’m so sorry this has taken so long to write. Also disclaimer: I’ve never written anything like this before and to be honest I’ve never really read anything like this either so I’m sorry it’s not the greatest. I still hope you like it though!

Your father had never been a kind man. You knew he did not care for you and having to provide the bare necessities was a burden to him. So when you found out that he had sold you to someone you couldn’t say that you were 100% surprised even though you were a tad bit hurt. At first you fought back, threatened to run away and never be seen again. But you knew you had nowhere else to go. Then you met your buyer, Jungkook and his friend Jimin.

“Hi.”, you said with a wave, “I’m Y/N.”

“Hi Y/N, I’m Jungkook. I’m looking forward to our trip together. I think we’ll be really good friends.”

You met him several times after that to get to know him better. He was funny, kind, sweet, and very protective but also very handsome. You were promised that no harm would come to you and all that would be needed from you would be that you accompany Jungkook on a trip as a companion. The request seemed odd. They wouldn’t give you any other details about the trip or what they meant by “companion” so you weren’t too sure about it, but after spending another night at home dealing with your father’s abuse you decided that you would rather be whatever Jungkook needed wherever he wanted than allow your father to rule over you any more.

With your bags packed you got into the backseat of a waiting car.

“So uh where exactly are we going?”, you asked Jungkook who was already sitting on the other side of the backseat.

“We need to stop at a facility to have you checked out. We just want to make sure you’re in good shape for the trip because there won’t be any help once we take off.”, he said with a shy smile.

“What?! What kind of a place doesn’t have a doctor or any kind of medical staff?”, you questioned feeling confused and suddenly very scared.

“Well it’s just going to be the two of us.”, he said just as confused as you.

“Right, but won’t there be a hospi-“

“We’re here!”, Jimin exclaimed from the driver’s seat.

The building appeared to be an old abandoned warehouse and you were starting to get horror movie vibes and second guessing your decision.

“Don’t worry. I know it’s a bit rough on the outside but that’s just a disguise. The inside is top of the line.”, Jungkook said noticing your uneasiness.

Top of the line was an understatement. After you walked into the building you were greeted by a large reception area. Lots of lights shown brightly and soft instrumental music played. A tall, muscular, handsome, but slightly purple almost lavender tinted man greeted you. You tried your best not to stare, but you were concerned about what kind of medical condition would cause someone to have skin of that color.

“Hello and welcome, My name is Taehyung. How can I help you today?”, he said with a large boxy grin.

Jungkook cleared his throat, “Um yeah we have an appointment for Y/N L/N.”

Taehyung clicked around a few times on the computer before handing you a clipboard with some paperwork, “You’re all set. Just fill out this paperwork and they’ll be with you momentarily.”

You read through the sheet of paper,

‘Name:‘-Okay easy enough.

‘Date of Creation:’- Ummm you definitely didn’t know that date so you put down your birthday and hoped that was good enough.

‘Battery Type:’- What? For such a nice place you were surprised at the amount of typos on this one sheet of paper. You put down your blood type assuming that’s what they meant and moved on quickly finishing up the last remaining questions the best you could.

Taehyung accepted the clipboard with a smile and on your way back to Jungkook you noticed a couple bottles of water laid out on the desk. You were thirsty, nearly dehydrated so you grabbed one and gulped it down. Jungkook watched you with wide eyes before leaning over and whispering something into Jimins ear who nodded in agreement. You tossed the now empty bottle in the trash feeling your cheeks heat up in embarrassment with the two men staring at you., “Sorry I’m just so thirsty.”, you awkwardly chuckled.

“It’s okay. We’ll get that checked out.”, Jungkook replied.

A few minutes later you were taken back to an exam room and dressed in a hospital gown while a man with mint green hair poked at your arm while curiously studying it through his thick black rimmed glasses.

“Interesting…I’ve never seen one with such lifelike skin before.”, he said before giving your arm a little pinch.

“Ow!”, you exclaimed pulling away while rubbing your reddening arm, “You can’t just go around pinching people.”, you looked closely at the name tag pinned to his shirt, “Yoongi.”

“Wow great pain receptors too.”, he exclaimed, “How much did you guys say you paid for this one?”, he said looking back at Jungkook and Jimin.

“Twenty million.”, Jungkook said stepping a little closer, “Which is why I’m kind of concerned about the water thing.”

“Mmhm yeah I see.”, Yoongi said still poking you all over. He managed to poke your left boob once before you swatted him away sternly, “Touch me there again and I’ll break your finger off.”, you hissed.

He jotted down a few notes, “Very lifelike all the way down to female anatomy…and feisty. I can see why you chose this one.”, he smirked at Jungkook.

“Can you stop touching her please?”, Jungkook shyly asked trying not to make eye contact with anyone, “I don’t like that she’s getting upset.”

“Sure thing. I just need to check her lubrication and then we should be all set.”, Yoongi said letting the glove snap onto his wrist.

And do you really think there’s going to be anything to check after I’ve been poked and pinched for the last hour while three men I barely know watched? I mean COME ON.”

The three of them jumped back in surprise. Jungkook and Jimin whispered back and forth while Yoongi wrote down a few more notes.

“Y/N…Um…”, Jungkook coughed while nervously scratching the back of his head, “Um exactly what kind of an android are you?”

“What?!”, you groaned feeling your patience dwindling.

“Umm like what’s your operating system? Did they…have they ever told you that?”, he continued before Yoongi jumped in and asked, “Did you get her users manual?”

“WHA-“

“No he said he didn’t have it any more.,” Jimin chimed in before you could continue.

“Hmmm of course not.”, Yoongi sighed. He pulled out his phone and sent a quick text before asking a few more questions that you didn’t understand as Jungkook stared at you curiously.

“Okay, here you go!”, someone said after opening the door. You watched as a man with neon yellow hair and green eyes and what you could only assume was a tail handed Yoongi a stack of papers.

“Thanks Hobi.”, Yoongi mumbled while writing something on the documents. Hobi gave you a friendly wave before exiting the room.

Yoongi handed Jimin the stack of papers, “I’ll give you thirty million.”

“What?!”, you, Jimin, and Jungkook all exclaimed at the same time.

“You paid twenty million and I’ll give you thirty million to buy her off of you. She’s far too advanced to just be messing around in space for the next seven years.”

Your mouth dropped open? “Space? What?! Jungkook what’s going on?”

“Deal!”, Jimin excitedly said already clicking his pen.

“How about you two go sign this over a glass of ice cold Sprinkle Pop and I’ll get Y/N ready.”, Jungkook said gently ushering them out of the room.

“Hey for an extra seventeen million I’ll throw in Kook too.”, Jimin said before him and Yoongi both erupted in laughter leaving the room.

“Jungkook what is going on?!”, you demanded to know, but he was ignoring you, instead he grabbed your clothes and shoved them into your arms, “Here get dressed. I’ll explain everything, but we need to leave.”

You hadn’t known him for very long, but in that short time period you’d never seen him panicked like this which only made you feel more panic so you hurriedly got dressed as fast as you could.

Jungkook grabbed your hand tightly in his and started to pull you down a brightly lit hallway to a set of double doors. Once he made sure you were outside in the clear and hidden behind a brick wall you finally pulled away from him when he released you hand.

“Do you want to tell me what’s going on?”, you asked.

“Y/N…are you…are you a human?”

“Of course I’m a human!! What kind of a question is that?”, you spat, “Are you gonna tell me you’re not a human?”

When you didn’t hear him answer as you expected you looked up to meet his eyes, but he refused to look at you.

“Jungkook what…what is going on?”

“I’m a uh…I’m actually an alien.”, he sighed.

“No you’re not.”, you laughed, “Seriously what’s going on?”

He reached up to his ear and started fidgeting with a device. You bad thought it was just an earring, but once he got the item removed from his ear there was a glitch and then his true form showed through. His skin turned a shade of purple, somewhat darker than Taehyung’s and almost metallic, his eyes became brighter almost diamond like. His fingers were webbed and he 100% definitely had a tail. Gone was the handsome man with tattoos and big doe eyes and he was replaced by this purple monster or purple alien as he said.

Once your brain processed what was in front of you fear set in and you began to run, screaming for help. You were silenced when Jungkook, now back to the form you recognized him in, grabbed you and pushed you against the wall placing his had firmly against your mouth to silence you, “Shhh Y/N. If they hear you they’ll come catch you.”

“So?! You think I’d rather say here with you?”

He nodded, “If you want to live or better yet not spend the rest of your life as one of Yoongi’s test subjects.”, he whispered as you heard people close by.

You agreed and remained silent as the voices and footsteps thankfully got further away. Once you were alone again he pulled you into the street where you walked to the nearest restaurant.

“Y/N, you need to eat.”, he said pushing the plate closer to you. “Aliens don’t eat?”, you questioned through a mouthful of pancakes.

“Not really.”, he shook his head, “Only when we have to so that we can fit in.”

“Okay I have some questions.”, you said pushing the plate away, “Jimin, Taehyung, and Yoongi, are they aliens?”

He nodded, “Jimin and Taehyung are. Jimin was wearing the same device as me to hide his identity. Taehyung is only half alien which is why he looked more human like.”

“Wait a minute? Humans and aliens can reproduce together?”

Jungkook nodded, “Mmhmm and it’s more common than you think.”

“What about Dr. Pinchy Fingers?”

“Yoongi.”, he giggled, “Yoongi is human. He’s the lead engineer that is in charge of any androids that we use. He got a little too excited because he thought you were a once in a life time bot and he wanted you for himself.”

“Wa-wait a minute? You guys think I’m a bot?”

He nodded, “Yeah because that’s what the man who sold you to us said. He said you were an android that he had created as part of a project he was working on when he was employed by the government. The government wanted to destroy you but he saved you.”

“My father never worked for the government.”, you scoffed, “He managed a grocery store. Where did you even meet him?”

“Umm well Jimin and I were at a bar one night…”

“Say no more.”, you put your hand up. You knew how your father got when he was drinking so it didn’t take much to figure out that he completely fabricated a lie about you. You continued, “And why did you want to buy an android to begin with? None of this is making sense.”

Jungkook laughed a little, “Yeah I know. I’ll…I’ll start from the beginning. So as you know

I’m an alien. More specifically I’m a part of the alien family known as Arimey. We’re from the planet Bangtan. Our leaders, Namjoon and Jin, sent us here many years ago to study and learn about the human race.”

“So you don’t mean any harm to us?”, you asked still unsure about this whole thing.

“Oh no no no…well…most of us don’t. We just want to learn about you guys and we were hoping to one day maybe live as one cohesive unit. That is once humans are more accepting of us.”

“Okay that’s fine and all, but how did you end up speaking to my father and buying me and why?” He winced a little at that question, but still went on, “Well I’m supposed to head back to home base to report on what I’ve found so far, but it takes about seven years to travel between Earth and Bangtan. I wanted some company for the trip so I was going to purchase an android that way they could travel with me and I wouldn’t have to worry about how to get them back to Earth and or feeding them and all that stuff. One night Jimin and I were having a drink and started talking about our plan and this guy came up to us and said he had a homemade android at home that he said he was willing to sell to us. We agreed to meet and I thought you were really nice and we had some stuff in common so I thought you’d be a great companion for the trip. You were also pretty cute too.”, he quickly added at the end. That was the first time you noticed that he blushed a light shade of purple instead of the usual pink or red.

He continued, “But I started noticing things that made me question whether you were really a bot or not like your skin always being so warm, and you smell like vanilla instead of oil and metal, and you drank a lot of water. It just started to not add up. So I kind of freaked out. The AUA will never let me take a human to Bangtan and I didn’t want Yoongi to buy you either so I grabbed you and ran and now we’re here…at this crappy diner.”

“At least the coffees good.”, you said in between sips, “So where do we go from here?”

“Well I can take you back to your home.”, he said, but you shook your head, “No I’m not going back there. I’m finally free and I’m not going to put myself through that again. Where…what happens with you now?”

Softly he smiled, “Well they’re definitely going to be upset that I just told you everything. We’re not supposed to tell humans about us without special clearance soooooo I don’t know exactly what will happen. I’ll have to go back and apologize for running like that and then find a new companion I guess. I need to get back to Bangtan, but it’s a long lonely trip and I really don’t want do it alone.”

“What if I still go with you?”, you whispered. His head snapped up looking at you with shock, “No Y/N. It’s a long trip and I don’t know when I’ll be back to Earth. I don’t even know if humans have ever been to Bangtan and…”

Gently you laid your hand atop his to try and calm him down, “I want to. I don’t have anyone here on Earth. I have nowhere to go. It kind of sucks here actually. I don’t want you to go alone and I don’t want to be alone. I mean seven years is a long time to get to know someone and who knows…maybe you and I will fall madly in love with each other and have a bunch of little half alien half humans running around and they’ll be the cutest little things ever.” You smirked when you noticed the purple tint creeping back up his neck.

“Y/N are you…are you sure? Once we leave we can’t end the trip. You’ll be stuck in a small ship with an alien and you’ll have to live on an unfamiliar planet for who knows how long.”, he asked.

“I’m sure. I already like human looking Jungkook and I’ll be able to get used to Alien Jungkook overtime. I want to go with you.”

He let out a breath neither of you realized he was holding in. “Okay.”, he nodded, “I have to make some calls and see what can be done but I’ll make it work.”

It didn’t take nearly as long as you thought it would for Jungkook to discuss everything and get a much needed approval. You basically had to agree to be his human wife, but that was something you weren’t necessarily against anyways. According to Namjoon there was actually a group of humans already back on Bangtan that were living healthily so he was happy to welcome you there and further the research.

And it was only days later when you were sat in a heart shaped space ship with Jungkook doting over you making sure you were buckled in safely, but also warm and comfortable. You smiled to yourself as he once again counted the cases of water and food worried that he didn’t bring enough for you, but you had assured him it would be fine.

“Ready Y/N?”, Jungkook asked after getting himself buckled in too. You nodded and reached for his hand, “Of course. Here’s to the next seven years together and many more.”, you said giving his hand a squeeze.

I felt the conflict inside, like, for a second I really questioned whether or not it was okay to just give into Tae (because of the whole incident thing at the beginning and everything), but the scene was so well put together and I just Kjsdjksdjjjswks I gave in, I was oc, I literally gave in to her 🕴.

-> A human Touch [KTH] By @snackhobi | This was a series (two chapters, one drabble) and I literally started and finished it yesterday, it was so addictive to read! I really enjoyed with the writing of the author, it was just majestic,I could feel myself perfectly in the scene. Also Tae was so adorable, he could breathe and I was already screeching on the floor because unfortunately the character doesn't exist here and there are no dysfunctional androids in the world :(

-> Always The Bridesmaid [KTH] By @kookingtae | This is an adaptation of 27 Dresses and GOD, HOW I LOVED IT. I watched the movie before so I could get a bit of context (because I hadn't seen it in a while) and then I read it and, I swear, it was so fascinating, I loved it so much more than the movie (it's different, believe me). The author added her own touch without taking away from the essence and she did it so wonderfully, I really highly recommend it if you have free time and want to read something a little more light-hearted! (Although it has angst most of the time, if you love angst, you'll like it).

-> Ain't No Sunshine [KTH] By @whimsical-ness | Another adaptation, this time of Notting Hill. In this version, the actor is Tae and the protagonist is the one who attends the book store. Honestly, I also liked it a lot more than the movie (I found it funnier, I got more attached to the people... I don't know, but I liked it more :>). It was a pretty fun read, and again, the author did an amazing job! (It also has angst, obviously, but as an angst lover this is like, I don't know, perfect).

-> Taste Of Love [KTH] By @vopegist | In a nutshell: the sweetest thing you'll read all month. It's super fluffy and super beautiful and peaceful and wonderful and spectacular. You can really feel a warmth in your chest every time you read it, and it's so easy to get attached to both characters! (It has a sequel, which I highly recommend).

-> What do you do when you have just been cheated on? By @1uvtae | This is, literally, my favorite of favorites. I read it months ago and I can still feel the anxiety coursing through my veins when I remember it. It's an amazing story, Taehyung is a character that I consider too charismatic and I really understand why oc fell in love with him (who doesn't? Look at him). I don't even know if I can describe it in words, it really is something you must watch to understand. I highly recommend it (remember to read the warnings!).

GOALS FOR 2025

-> First, I think I would love for my college career not to drag on all my time and to be able to make good progress on everything I have planned (it's too many things for one person, but the only one to blame is me, so...)

-> Finish BOTN before the end of 2025, the series is super planned in my head, but I'm so scattered and so distracted that I always pass on writing it down :(

-> I wish I could write a one-shot over 30k... but it's so hard for me to write long fics, I always feel that the transition from one scene to another is bad for me, so I end up splitting it into parts.

-> Finish the 7 requests I have pending. Most of them are smut and lately my brain has been super negative to the idea of writing spicy stuff, I'm out of practice? Probably.

-> Socializing more with you guys. I really love the tumblr community in general, and I ADORE talking to anons/moots about everything and nothing at the same time, but I'm pretty introverted and don't really know how to bring up conversation topics 🫠.

Tired of your family getting on at you for not having a partner, you drunkenly lament to Taehyung. Your friend suggests you purchase an escort android through his favourite service.

Prologue

Chapter one

Your new toy arrives from the factory

2 weeks later your new friend arrives fully assembled in a pod charging station. 

You peer at him through the little glass window at the front. 

The online images didn't do him justice. The mere visage of this man left you a little breathless. He just looks like a regular guy sleeping, a regular guy but much much more attractive. You'd expected him to look a little bit mechanic, cold, maybe hard. But he looked remarkably soft and warm, and real. Like blood was actually pumping through his veins instead of coolant. It made you really question the last couple of dates that Taehyung had brought to various events and dinners. 

And you definitely didn’t think your family was going to believe you could pull a man like that out of nowhere.

Your fingers linger apprehensively over the latch that would release him, unsure you really want to go ahead with this. You itched to get a closer look, to inspect your perfect man, but if you opened the box you would never be able to return it… him…

As if on cue, your phone rings.

Your mother's image is plastered across your caller ID and you let out an exacerbated sigh before picking up. 

"Good morning mu..."

"Have you heard?! Your cousin is getting married! That's the last one. Now it's just you. Why do you hate me?" She shrieks.

She has always had a tendency to overreact in these situations. You're sure it came from a good place but it came across a lot like nagging. 

"I've had it with your career first nonsense, I don't want you to spend your whole life alone, and more importantly, I don't want to be the only one without grandchildren."

You take them phone away from your ear and sigh dramatically. That increasingly annoying reminder that your mum’s siblings all had brand new bouncing babies in their lives and your mum does not. Once you had suggested perhaps she could have another… it had not been a well-received quip…

"Mum, we've been over this. I'm not ready to settle down with a family."

"Don't give me that, you were two years old by the time I was your age."

"The world has changed Mum, plus lots of people are fine alone."

"Yeah well, you're not one of them. I've found you a man! Mrs Turner's boy is coming back to town and he always had a thing for you."

You can picture him now. Not ordinarily one to judge, it was difficult not to find Francis Turner to be the most repulsive guy on the planet. In high school he picked his nose and would wipe it on the backs of people's chairs, his scabs were always bleeding from where he picked them, and his hair was so long and unbrushed that the smell alone was enough to knock you out.

You glance back through the window at the sleeping visage of perfection. The plump lips and swooping fringe draw you in. Your fingers reach to play with the latch once more. You absently pick at the tape holding it shut.

"Mum if I get a date for the wedding will you drop this?"

"Absolutely, but where are you going to find a date, the wedding is in two weeks time. And he has to be a respectable man, Taehyung does not count! I don't trust that boy."

"I know Mum, you’ve made your feelings about Taehyung very clear. Besides he isn’t going to settle down either,” you point out “Why is she getting married so fast anyway?”

“Says it’s a whirlwind romance, can’t possibly wait another month your aunt says,”

“So we should expect a baby shower invite in seven months time,” you roll your eyes.

“Quite possibly, but that’s beside the point. The point is you are alone!”

“Yes mum, thank you for the reminder. Look I’ve got to go, I’ll see you at the wedding,”

“See you soon love, and remember, no Taehyung,”

“Yes mum, bye mum,”

You hang up the phone before she can get another word in, tossing the device onto the sofa behind you.

You rip off the parcel tape that's keeping the latch shut and pop open the pod. 

Immediately the android's eyes flip open, bright blue circles whirring as he loads. They settle and the blinding light fades to a duller pulsing blue that still looks unnatural.

"Good day, my name is Jimin, I am your personal fantasy assistant. Please, how can I serve you today?" 

His voice is so smooth, if it weren't for the introduction you would never suspect his origin. 

He is flawless.

Now you can see his entire body you are even more sure that no one is going to believe he is with you willingly, he better be programmed as a damn good actor.

"Uh.... hi." You wave awkwardly at the man as he steps forward out of the box.

You shuffle back as he moves toward you. He reaches out a hand for you to take and waits patiently for your brain to catch up with his gesture. You shake his hand as quickly as you can, gasping at how real he feels to touch.

"Would you like an explanation of my abilities?" He asks, tilting his head as if taking you in.

"Yes please." You answer, glad to have time to think. 

"Alright," he takes your arm and leads you to your sofa. 

He plumps the pillow behind you and then perches on the edge of your coffee table so he can look at you properly while he talks.

"I am a J-1-min model android, once again you may call me Jimin. I was created by Build-a-bot LLC for the purpose of giving you pleasure. Pleasure looks different for all users. I am programmed to clean, cook, and be a general caretaker as well as to look after all sexual gratification needs you may have. I have an AI system built in and will learn as we get to know one another in order to serve you better. Is there anything specific you would like to know, or anything about me you would like to modify? You can change my name if you like?"  

"Do you like your name?” You ask

“If you like my name, then I like my name,”

“Okay, I like your name… Can you change your eyes? The blue is very... bright."

"If that would make you happy I can, what colour would you like?"

He cycles his eyes through a selection of different colours that span the entire rainbow. You consider for a moment what might look the best with the other features you had given him.

"Do you have a favourite?" He asks as they land back on the original blue.

"I think brown? Dark brown maybe? What do you think?" 

'I like whatever you like... Miss?"

"Sorry, Y/n, call me Y/N"

"Of course Y/N, my eyes will remain dark brown until you ask for me to change them. Now, what can I do for you today?"

You tasked him with cooking breakfast, there weren’t a lot of groceries in the house, but it gave you time to make a call to Taehyung, something you perhaps should’ve done before opening the box. You watch him long enough to make sure he won’t destroy your house and excuse yourself to the bedroom. 

Naturally, Taehyung doesn’t pick up, it’s far too early for him to be awake. It’s likely he only went to sleep as the sun was rising. So you send him a brief message hoping he will get back to you when he can. 

Jimin calls out from the kitchen to tell you that he has finished cooking and you trail back in to sit at the breakfast bar where a tall stack of pancakes waits for you. He watches you closely as you bring the fork to your lips.

"Is it satisfactory?" He asks as soon as you swallow. 

"It's delicious... Are you going to watch me the entire time?"

"Not if you don't want me to... what would you like me to do instead."

“I hadn’t really thought about it,” You shrug.

“Can I assume I am your first android?” He asks although it seems more like he is making an observation than actually asking.

“You are, yes. And honestly, I’m not sure I really meant to order you, I was drunk at the time,” You admit.

“Does my presence make you uncomfortable?”

He looks sad when he asks, disappointed. You find yourself with the urge to reach out and comfort him. Your hand goes up to his cheek of its own accord. You’re again shocked to find he is warm and soft, not sure what you had really been expecting, maybe something more metallic. He feels like any other person you have ever met. 

“You don’t make me uncomfortable, just… unsure,”

He nods curtly and turns to do the dishes he had left in the sink, gathering up your plate as soon as you are finished. He searches through your cupboards putting things away in their places and learning the layout. When he comes across your cleaning supplies, he gathers those on to the counter and takes stock of what you have. He then reaches into the far depths of the cupboard under your sink and produces a hot pink apron your mother had bought that you had long forgotten about.

He dons the garment, tying a pretty little bow in the back and pulls on some brand-new rubber gloves. You stifle a giggle as he turns back to address you, looking thoroughly ridiculous in his business casual outfit and frilly apron.

“It is suggested in my standard programming that I should clean when not given instruction, is that okay?” 

“Be my guest,” you gesture.

“Fantastic, I will clean out here and the bathroom first,”

He wastes no time dusting through your living room, you decide to leave him to it and hide in your bedroom. Your phone remains undisturbed on your bed, Taehyung still not having awoken.

You stand awkwardly in your room, unsure of what might be the best thing to do while you wait for him to finish. Ideally, you would’ve spent the entire morning lounging around telling yourself you really needed to get some work done, eventually pulling yourself to your desk by mid-afternoon. Now it felt like you should get some work done too, you didn’t want your android to think you were lazy after all. 

You slip your headphones on and open up your writing app and your emails. Dismayed, you find a new selection of rewrites from your editor awaiting you, it seems your latest article was far from satisfactory. 

It takes you an hour to get through each little red underline, changing words and rephrasing paragraphs. As soon as you’ve hit send on the email back to your employer, you dip your head down onto your desk shutting your eyes for a moment. Your headphones slide down and land on the table with a soft thump. You reach to put them back on but you can hear something melodic coming from the living room.

Pressing your ear to the door, you listen carefully. It’s Jimin, humming to himself. His voice is rather pretty and you find yourself leaning against the door trying to hear him better. Just as you become flush to the wood, the door swings open and you tumble to the floor.

“I’m sorry, i should’ve knocked,” Jimin says. 

The robot stoops down and gathers you in to his arms as if you weigh less than nothing. Instinctually you wrap your hands around his neck to keep yourself stable, although it doesn’t seem like you need to. He carries back into your room and deposits you gently onto the bed.

“Did you get hurt?” He asks, eyes scanning your body.

“No… just my pride,” You answer, sitting yourself up.

He looks confused by the statement but you just shake your head and smile lightly to reassure him. He nods and walks out of the room without another word.  You stay where he put you slightly bewildered by his abrupt exit, but he is back before you can think about it for too long.

“Here is some water, it should help,” he states.

Instead of passing you the glass, he holds it to your lips and supports your neck with his other hand encouraging you to let him help you drink. He doesn’t really give you the opportunity to refuse so you let him feed you half of the glass until he seems satisfied. 

Jimin finally places the glass on the bedside table and gently pushes you forward, slotting himself in behind you on the bed. He places his legs on either side of you and encourages you to lean back and use him as a pillow.

“Are you comfortable?” He asks.

“I was,” You gulp

You can feel every synthetic muscle in his torso pressed up against your back. With his height so similar to your own it feels like you slot in perfectly, you’d be lying if you told him you were uncomfortable physically, but emotionally? This brought up far more issues than it actually solved.

“I’m sorry, my programming suggested you might find this to be comforting. Would you prefer a pillow?”

“No, this is… this is okay,”

He hums as if he were pleased and his hands land on your shoulders, fingers pressing expertly into the soft tissue. A moan tumbles from your lips before you can catch it and he hums contentedly once more.

notes 2: this is a story so i don’t wanna hear any ethical questions about android-human relationships. pretend it’s normal, they’re kinda just, idk advanced humans in this anyways, kinda… just don’t think about it

“Can I kiss you?” You blink over at Taehyung. 

He coughs, hand cradling his chest as his spoon drops into his bowl. Your eyes glazing over the spilt soup that splashes onto the table.

He’d have thought that by now, he’d be used to you and you’re constant stream of questions. You’d been living with him for long enough for him to understand how you worked. An endless stream of patience especially stored just for you in his heart, otherwise he’s pretty sure he would have lost his mind by now.

You were awfully curious about humans, and a lot more intelligent that you gave yourself credit for. Complex coding constantly being written as you experience life, emotions typed in numbers and human thoughts slowly whittling their way into your android mind.

As much as you like to tell him that you are yet to understand the full extent of human emotion, he’s pretty sure you feel insecure about not being a living, breathing, person like he was. Or every other mortal being that resided on planet earth.

He never understood your obsession with wanting to be human. Not when you essentially functioned as one, maybe an odd life form, but nearly human nonetheless. Still unused to certain social norms or the deemed ‘right way to act’.

“Pardon?” He splutters, “What did you say?” 

“I wanted to know if I could kiss you” you say, eyebrows furrowing in the slightest. 

Taehyung’s lips tug into an unsure smile, “You shouldn’t joke about those things” 

“I’m not joking” you shake your head, “See I’m not smiling” you point to your lips. 

Taehyung sighs. 

“If you’re uncomfortable then that’s okay. You’ve told me that I should ask before acting when it comes to things like these, per human etiquette, so I was just asking” 

Taehyung hums, “You know what a kiss usually means right?” He decides to ask, he’s sure you’ve scoured the internet by now, or chewed Namjoon’s ear off about the more intimate sides of human relationships. The things you never seem to want to ask Taehyung, and no matter how much he prods, you never want to tell him why.

He wouldn’t exactly say it’s jealousy.. you were allowed to interact with other people after all. He thinks it’s a perfect way for you to observe humans, a pass time he knows you enjoy. Though he will admit, that it makes him feel slightly useless when you go to his friend, instead of him for your endless stream of questions.

You blink, and Taehyung worries that if you operating sytem were to work any harder, he’d be able to hear your fan start whirring beneath your skin. 

“Love?” You say, and Taehyung nods. 

“That’s why I was taken aback” he tell you honestly, because that’s what you need. You’d expressed your frustration in not being able to pick up on certain things, and he’d promised you from that moment he would be completely transparent. “Just wasn’t expecting that from you” 

Your eyes flit around the room in thought before they settle back on Taehyung, “But what if I were to love you?” 

Taehyung pushes his bowl away from him, “Well, do you?” 

Silence settles over the room, and Taehyung wants to ask you what you’re thinking.

A sound similar to a sigh slips past your open lips, “I think so, yes” you nod, “Is that okay?”

Taehyung’s head tips back in a laugh, “You think so?”

You hum, pulling your chair closer to the table, fingers fidgeting with with the table cloth.

And he wonders if this is your first true experience being nervous.

“Yes, I think so”

“And what does love feel like to you?” he urges, not missing the way your shoulders sag. But he was curious, any way to understand you better would always be a win for him.

“I feel happy” you start, “When the two of us are together, I feel good. My synthetic heart beats too fast, and I think I just like you a lot that it must be love. I don’t really understand it, but it’s nice”

Taehyung nods, lips curling up into a smile, “I like you a lot too”

Your eyes widen a fraction, and if Taehyung didn’t know you then he wouldn’t know you weren’t human.

“No, you don’t understand. I don’t like you, I love you” you tell him.

“Means the same thing” he huffs out a laugh.

“Really? But i’m not—“ you start but Taehyung raises a hand to stop you.

“No stupid android spiel. I know you, for what you are, and I like you. Even if you aren’t like me. Even if you aren’t human”

“Why did you never say anything?” you ask, “It’s a strange feeling when you like someone and have to hold it in without saying anything” you tell him, trying your hardest not to smile. Happiness catching up to you.

“I weren’t sure how you felt” he waves you off, “Plus I didn’t invite you to live with me just so i could make you uncomfortable a year later by confessing my feelings for you. Especially because you’ve consistently told me you haven’t grasped the concept of human emotion yet”

You part your lips, fingers skimming over your chest right above where your heart would be, “You’re a very considerate person, Taehyung”

Taehyung thinks his cheeks must have flushed the lightest shade of pink, “Only for you”

You shake your head, “No. You’re very considerate of all your other friends too”

And if he wasn’t absolutely enamored by you, Tae might have wanted to face plant the table at your oblivious response.

“I just tried to flirt with you” he runs a hand over his face, refusing to meet your eyes.

You sit up straighter at that, “Really? How fascinating” you nod, “I’ll have to research more so I can flirt too” you push yourself to stand, tucking your chair back under the table. Dinner long forgotten as you slink into the living room.

“You’re not allowed to flirt with anyone but me, okay?” he calls after you.

“Okay” you call back over your shoulder, “And I would like to postpone my kiss until later after i’m done”

He hums. Leaving you as he washes up, planning out exactly how he’ll explain he doesn’t want to be only friends anymore. Because he knows asking you out isn’t going to be as straight forward as he thinks it’ll be.

Because as much as you wanted to be human, he doesn’t think he’d want you any other way.
