I can’t be the only one who’s absolutely loving these found family angles on AEW rn
Like Samoa Joe just taking Hook and Shibata under his wing? Adorable.
Kyle O’Reilly being Mark Briscoe’s little hype man? So cute.
Billy Gunn quite literally just adopting The Acclaimed and treating them better than his own sons? Spectacular, gimme 14 of em.
Whatever the hell is happening with Kyle Fletcher and Will Ospreay rn? Yes please.
Willow Nightingale and Orange Cassidy teaming up after they got betrayed? Biggest of smooches.
And as much as I hate to say it, what Chris Jericho is doing with Big Bill and Bryan Keith is kinda cute too.
I could go on forever but unfortunately I might die from the cuteness. Whoever decided to make professional wrestling wholesome and adorable I love you.

"Okay, show of hands. How many of us are half-human, half-Galra?"
A lot of hands go up, but surprisingly, not everyone's does. One version of himself, a Galra with red and purple markings wearing Blade armor just looks confused.
"Wait," he says, "-you guys are only half Galra?"
"See, I'm just completely human," one version of himself with gray eyes says, "-but I guess I was raised by Galra? So technically I'm still an alien."
"Wait," a puzzled version of himself wearing a more fantasy version of Blade armor tilts his head, "-what's an alien? I mean, I'm half Galra, but-"
"-actually yeah, same question," a version of himself with golden eyes wearing a cloak asks, "-what's an alien? also what's a Galra? I'm human also. By the way. Definitely human."
"That feels like a really obvious denial," another version of himself that's purple but is wearing more Altean style clothing says, "-also I'm half-Galra, half-Altean."
"I am also half-Galra, half-Altean," a version of himself that definitely looks a little too much like Lotor raises his hand.
"Half-human, Half-Altean," another version of himself wearing even fancier Altean clothing says.
"Full Altean," says another version of himself, "-it's a recent and complicated development. Don't ask."
"Y'all are aliens?" A version of himself that looks mostly human asks, arching a brow. "Huh. Guess that... might explain some stuff about me."
"You guys aren't Shifters?" A deeply confused version of himself asks. "Like? You can't change your shape? That's so weird."
"I can," one version of himself says, and demonstrates by turning themselves Galra in the blink of an eye, "-you mean y'all can't do this?"
"I wish I could do that," says an extremely tall, very Galra version of himself wearing Lotor's armor, "-but no."
"I'm... a lot of things," says a version of himself who does, in fact, look like a lot of things, "-but originally I was just half-human, half-Galra."
"...why do so many of you guys have aliens in your universe?" one version of himself asks, "-because I don't. I mean, I may be a genetically modified superhuman, but-"
"Actually being part-Galra would explain some stuff," a version of himself with visible Galra features says, "-I just thought the changes were because I'm infected with a zombie virus."
"Wait. What the fuck."

“Peter Rudge called,” she was almost whispering. “They're scared, Bill. If Keith goes to prison, there is no more Rolling Stones. Rudge said Mick Jagger had two words to say: ‘Get Carter!’”
Damned if that wasn’t the story of my life.
Bill Carter, Get Carter: Backstage in History from JFK's Assassination to the Rolling Stones.

tell me about Defended By An Assassin im curious
Defended By An Assassin is a voltron canon-divergent-but-still-compliant-enough au i wrote in ye olden days. My hyperfixation has ended and am also out of motivation to finish it fully but a i still have a rough outline of the au notes. (I think it also helped me discover my gender so its kinda special to me despite it all)
The au mainly sees that an Altean ship w/ both a Galra and Altean inside it crash landed on earth in (an unspecified timeframe i never got around to calculating it) and the humans find their remains along w/ the cargo of raw Quintessence they were carrying w/ them. The ship lands on Russia and they hire a shady doctor i have titled as The Doctor to study the remains.
The Doctor then proceeds to (in predictably shady fashion) run human experimentation w/ his findings to form a being w/ both Nix (Galra) and Kaos (Altaean) genes inside a human combined w/ the Quintessence. Eventually the test subjects shift to children once it becomes apparent that they are the most receptive to it. Test subjects are kidnapped from all over the globe. Usually orphans that people won't miss. And young enough to still have all their baby teeth. Enter: Keith Kogane from texas yeehaw.
(In this au his dad died WAY earlier and he was plucked freshly from the chared remains of his house)
Keith has a fascinating dna which shows that it's half Nix dna. This is a new discovery and The Doctor really really wants to talk to the guy who banged the alien but hes fucking dead. But the results are already there w/ a human-Nix child, so why not add in the Kaos genes in there as well?
The vat of unidentified pure liquid energy they found in the crash (aptly named Ichor) proved to be very useful in this regard and The Doctor created more children with these human-Nix-Kaos cocktail and named them all Titans to aptly keep up w/ the theme.
These Titans then in ususal test subjects loosing their identity way were fashioned new names based on the theme. Also the whole shady experimentations were also very unethical (to say the fucking least) so a lot of people who funded the research but were kept unaware of the reselts are Very Not Happy abt the children thing. And oh! Would u look at that? The exposure to Ichor has led the Titans to develop strange abilities that can be harnessed in specific situations. Sure would be a shame if someone were to say, use this to silence the opposition.
So The Doctor basically made magic alien-energy-human 10 y/os who he manipulated into doing his dirty work and continuing his research on them.
The kids manage to get rescued and the facility destroyed cuz the fight involved Eris blowing up the afformentioned vat of ichor. Then the kids proceed to fuck off and disappear into various corners of the world to never talk to eachother again and bury all their problems and try to reintegrate themeselves into society.
Enter again: Keith Kogane, after having spent a brief stint as #02789nXs, before being Eris, spending half her time as Raven to assassinate people then back to being Keith again. He is Not adjusting well to society and then gets adopted by Shiro. He's now in the Garrison and James (Hermes. He was a fast little shit and it kept w/ the theme) is there and it was truly a devil's sacrament moment.
Then Shiro goes missing in a space mission and he gets himself kicked out if the Garrision. There is also a giant blue lion in the middle of the desert did they mention that? Wait what- SHIRO?!?!!! Who the fuck are you people. Dont come into my house and just- fine make yourself at home. Welcome to my cave w/ drawings and this big ass- how the fuck did you do that what the fuck. Are we in space. Is that earth. Is that a wormhole. What the fuck.
And now hes working as a fucking Defender of the Universe in a mecha lion w/ a 10000 y/o princess and Coran who call themselves Alteans but they are. Just. They're fucking Kaos people. And the main people are they're up against are called Galra, except she knows for a FACT that those bitches are Nix and there us also the uncomfortable fact of being half of the species (along w/ other things) that are taking over the unuverse. Shes not telling that to Allura.
And the whole thing about Ichor Quintessence comes up and hes just really trying to not deal w/ the mortifying ideal if being known and neither half Altean-half Galra prince Lotor or the Blade of Marmora are helping with it.
Some other notes is have written down abt this au:
Keith is 100% trans but no one knows in which direction. The Kaos shapeshifting powers are not helping w/ the problem even in the slightest.
During the Titan days there was some kind of love triangle thing going in w/ Eris, Hermes and Apollo and no one could tell who was into who either so it was just a source of angst and pining for the three of them and embarrassment for everyone involved.
On the plus side, Apollo and Hermes made Keith realize he has a thing for boys w/ blue eyes but on the downside: Lance fucking Mcclain
Lotor and Keith have a very complicated relationship cuz they are just dealing w/ similar things and Keith wants to help him w/ his place as a Galra/Altean but at the same time hes not ready to deal w/ his own issues either.
The whole returning to earth to find it under invasion moment has most of the Titans out of hiding and helping w/ their powers to beat the galra. Apollo is there but his name is Solace and the James-Keith-Solace pining trainwreck is back baby.
Keith also has very complicated feelings abt his mom.
The fallout of when Keith explains his human-galra-altean heritage to everyone involved one broken nose, several instances of the phrase "What the quiznak", 3 broken tables, 5 messed up lab equipment and many moments of awkward standing around by team voltron + Kolivan as Allura screams at Keith.
At one point Acxa just gets adopted into the Titans group. She's not even an honorary member they've 100 percent accepted her as one of them. Yes there was an initiation ceremony that involved a lot of stomping and chanting that called a lot of noise complaints. Yes Lotor was also in the corner as the actual honorary member wearing a hat that said "INTERN".
Thomas (Zeus) was literally the only one with the braincell in the Titan days and did not get paid enough to deal w/ all the bullshit. He has also been called many variations of mom/dad several times and has mainly accepted his fate.
The Titans also have these cool tattoo like patterns on their bodies that glow whenever they're using their powers.
Also Kosmo is the Titan's mascot and everyone (Keith) is willing to kill/die for it.

keith expects to hate the other generals. he's never been one for socializing, even back on earth, and besides - it's been him, acxa, and narti as lotor's generals for several deca-phoebs now. do they really need any more?
he can begrudgingly admit that ezor's invisibility and zethrid's strength are invaluable assets. keith's not so foolish that he can't predict how helpful they could be.
what he doesn't predict is actually taking a liking to them. zethrid spars with him, and they give each other a warrior's respect. ezor - to keith's horror - is actually fun. they go to space malls on their days off and shit-talk everyone they see.
he realizes, in the dawning sort of way of what you've been trying to deny, that the group balances each other well. acxa is their leader, strong, their foundation and their compass, and narti has always been the one that keith goes to when he needs quiet.
it's almost like a family.

New Fic: Screaming Your Name (But You Can't Hear Me)
Summary: They told Lance they didn’t want to do this to to him, but they couldn’t risk anyone ruining their plans to save the universe. And so here Lance was, literally locked in a tower by Voltron’s supposed new “allies,”  while they went off to assassinate Keith.
Story snippet:
Lance had writhed and tried to scream — getting one of the guard’s many hands thrown over his mouth — as he was carted away and deposited in this tower that was both impenetrable and horrifically overlooked the courtyard so Lance would see everything but was completely unable to do anything about it.
Already Lance could see Voltron lining up, Keith in position on his side while the king and his advisors assembled into formation across so they could meet in the middle to exchange the crowns.
And the moment Keith had a crown upon his head and the king safely back the sniper would fire and…
And…
Lance slammed his stinging palm against the thick glass as though this time would have somehow better luck than the previous hits and kicks.
All he got for his efforts was a renewed throb of pain in his hand.
He still did it.
He couldn't do anything else and Dios, Keith was going to be…
“Keith!” he screamed, pounding his fists on the glass. “Keith!”
Galrans were supposed to have superior hearing, right?
Keith had to hear him.
He had to.
Dios, he had to.
“Mullet!” he tried. “Keith! Stop!”
Because Keith was starting to walk forward to the center of the courtyard and Dios, no.
No no no no no.
“Keith!” it was practically a shriek. “Keith! Stop! Dios, stop!”
Keith did not stop.

After playing four huge new games in a row recently I wanted to jump back into a game I've already played, and I ended up on Assassin's Creed Valhalla. It kind of made me reflect a bit on how initially I was quite disappointed with this game but now it's really, really grown on me.
I'm a huge fan of the newer AC games but when Valhalla first came out it was a very distant third place in that trilogy. There are still some things that annoy me (being forced into open combat for so many encounters rather than being able to stealth) but I think what threw me off the most at first was coming into it after Odyssey which has SUCH different vibes.
Like, Origins to me is a really fun adventure/mystery story. It has some dark and serious elements but it also has Bayek who can be quick-witted and funny, it has the great Bayek/Aya romance, and it has the creation of the Hidden Ones which is SO cool. And then Odyssey is just pure joy imho. Alexios/Kassandra is a big old goober and they're so silly and I mean I guess it depends on the choices you make but it always makes me feel so fufilled and happy at the end when the family gets back together. It's heroic and light-hearted, has a lot of really goofy side missions, and even the world itself is bright and colourful and full of life.
Then you have Valhalla. Valhalla is DARK. It has this overarching sense of futility and inevitability, like your fate has been written and there's no escape. Eivor is stoic and brusque and violent and quite frankly a little unlikeable. A lot of the victories don't even feel like victories. They're tainted by loveable characters dying, friends betraying you, basically: winning but at what cost? Eivor often feels lost in their own story, being manipulated by people like Basim and Fulke and Alfred. They're also burdened with Odin's memories and end up having to leave everyone they know and love to deal with that.
But it also has these moments of searing beauty that make it into a wonderfully stirring experience, and I think it took me a while to realize that. I missed the joy of Odyssey so much I couldn't appreciate what Valhalla had to offer. I've been listening to the OST a lot and I think it captures that bittersweet vibe perfectly... the main theme alone is so haunting. Most of the England you explore is dirty and muddy and brown but every once in a while you are at the top of a hill and you see a beautiful sunrise light up the gold in the trees and it's breathtaking. That, to me, is what Valhalla excels at.

♫ Sympathy For The Devil ♫ (And A Bonus!)
Tonight’s Rolling Stones’ song was suggested a few days ago by our friend Keith.  It is not destined to become one of my top ten tunes, but … who am I, a person who has been nearly deaf for most of my life, to judge?  (Be sure to go all the way to the end for a special surprise bonus!) According to SongFacts … This sinister song perpetuated the image of the Stones as frightening bad boys, as…

Keith's father died when he was eight.
It became quickly apparent that none of his father's extended family wanted anything to do with him. Nobody ever said it to his face, but he definitely heard the whispers- he'd always had sharp ears.
They said he wasn't his father's son.
That had to be a lie, Keith knew. His dad loved him. Even when he got into a fight with another kid at school, he'd always just calmly listen to him. He got mad at him sometimes- like when he touched his mom's knife without permission, but that was just because he was worried he'd hurt himself. He could talk to him about anything, and at least with his dad, he wasn't the weird kid who kept breaking things.
Then his dad was gone, and that was all anyone ever believed about him. That he was weird- temperamental and aggressive, too prone to violence, like his fight or flight response was just a fight response. He was the discipline case. The problem child. No one expected him to be anything else, so he didn't try to be.
He met Takashi Shirogane at ten.
He was like him- a foster kid. But unlike Keith, people wanted Shiro. He felt like everything Keith wasn't- good natured and easy to get along with, bright with a promising future. They ended up in the same foster home together, and the difference between the two couldn't be clearer.
But for whatever reason, Shiro didn't see Keith the way everyone else saw him. He saw him more like his father had. He paid attention to him, often standing up for him- when he talked, Shiro would listen. He didn't care for his foster parents much, but Shiro... Shiro felt like a brother, almost.
But nothing good lasted forever. Shiro aged out of the system and went off to college, studying to be a pilot. Keith was left behind. He stuck it out for another few years, until he turned fifteen and just left. He found his way back to his old home, still standing out in the desert. He hung around there for a few weeks, before stumbling across something unexpected-
-a photograph of his mother.
He knew it had to be. She looked almost exactly like him. On the back of the photo there was a name and an address, written in unfamiliar hand. It was the first lead he'd had on her in years.
So what else could he do but go check it out?

The Prodigy - Smack My Bitch Up 1997
"Smack My Bitch Up" is a song by English electronic dance music band The Prodigy. It was released in November 1997 as the third and final single from their third album, The Fat of the Land (1997). In 2013, Mixmag readers voted it the third greatest dance track of all time. The song caused considerable controversy because of its suggestive title and explicit music video. The video, directed by Jonas Åkerlund, was rarely seen on television due to its controversial subject matter. It was filmed entirely in first-person perspective and depicts a drug-and-alcohol-fueled night out through the eyes of a mostly-unseen character, and utilises different camera movements corresponding with the protagonist's altered state of mind. Despite the controversy, the video was nominated for four awards in the 1998 MTV Video Music Awards, and eventually won Best Dance Video and Breakthrough Video. In 2010, the song was voted as the most controversial song of all time in a survey conducted by PRS for Music.
The lyrics "Change my pitch up/Smack my bitch up" are sampled and altered from the song "Give the Drummer Some" by the Ultramagnetic MCs. The female vocals were performed by Shahin Badar. Her vocals and harmonies are based on "Nana (The Dreaming)" performed by Sheila Chandra. Initially Liam Howlett used a direct sample of Chandra's song, but later had the vocal resung after sample clearance issues. The track also contains samples from "Funky Man" by Kool & the Gang, "In Memory Of" by Randy Weston, "House of Rising Funk" by Afrique, "Like This" by Mixmaster Gee and the Turntable Orchestra and "Bulls on Parade" by Rage Against the Machine.
In the UK the song peaked at number 8, ultimately spending 16 weeks in the top 100, despite limited air time. The song reached the top 15 in several countries, such as Canada, New Zealand, Norway, and Sweden. The song performed best in Finland, securing the band their third Finnish number 1 hit alongside "Firestarter" and "Breathe" (poll #112). It peaked at number 22 in the Netherlands, 41 in Australia, and 89 in the US. The single also returned to the Billboard charts after Keith Flint's death, entering number 23 on its Dance/Electronic Digital Songs Sales chart in March 2019.
The song appeared in a fight scene in the 2000 film Charlie's Angels. In 2020, a cutscene in the game Cyberpunk 2077 had a corresponding song on the soundtrack titled "Smack My Chip Up". Released the same year, Assassin's Creed Valhalla includes a sidequest called "The Prodigy", where the player character boxes a clergyman, prompting a character named Keith to sing "Smack my bishop!"
"Smack My Bitch Up" received a total of 57,2% yes votes! Previous Prodigy polls: #8 "No Good (Start the Dance)", #112 "Breathe". (Maxim & Skin: #245 "Carmen Queasy")
