magia archive 4's release has given us a proper name and desciption for farewell story's bovine witch. which is fun, however i've seen a translation for her description passed around and even posted on the wiki, and i'd like to point out that this translation is not accurate. it's entirely machine translation, which is notoriously inaccurate.

the machine translation on the wiki is here; emphasis on particularly incorrect parts mine.

Bovine Witch. Nature: Playfulness. A witch who refused to think of herself and found meaning for herself by depending on someone else. She is always on the prowl in search of new dependents, sometimes uncovering unknown graves in order to find her old ones. To distract herself from her loneliness, she also creates a bull-shaped owner out of the axe of her main body, acting as if she is being manipulated. As this is the most comfortable state for the witch, if you try to hurt the bull, she will try to penetrate you by hardening a substance around your neck that looks like a small intestine.

to contrast, here is my own translation --

as well as one done by @monzenbashi, since being able to reference more than one interpretation is rarely a bad thing --

machine translation -- even through deepl, which advertises itself as better than google translate -- can be a useful tool, but rarely is it coherent enough to be relied upon exclusively. artificial intelligence can only dig so much into the nuances of language, especially with japanese.

(**editing to add; the last part of asiphae's description [首にまかれた小腸のような物質を硬化させて貫こうとしてくる。] is pretty vague about whose 'neck' it's talking about. looking over all of asiphae's different iterations, i believe the 'neck' in question here is either the axe's handle/'neck' or the bull's, rather than referring to their victim's neck -- both of them wear ribbons that are later stylized to resemble the small intestine and seem to be the source of asiphae's binding attack.)

Hmmm... I've been in this fandom a long time and I have firmly held beliefs/opinions about jancy that haven't changed much since I first joined in 2017...

I guess a newer one I have (that I think I've shared before) is that Jonathan takes comfort in Nancy's "subpar" music tastes (bubble gum pop) because it reminds him of her. Even though he'll deny it.

Another one I have post-season 4 is that Nancy and Jonathan joined the school paper their junior year of high school (maybe post-Murray?) got their summer internships as a result, Nancy then leveraged that position to earn her editor position and Jonathan was her original assistant editor before he moved (he was basically the photo editor 🥺), someone else took over for him which Nancy hated because a) that person wasn't Jonathan and that hurt and b) that person didn't naturally work as well with her as Jonathan which pissed her off. Fred was the third but was on thin ice.

Lily’s Non-Oxymorons Murdle Ships!

Done solely for fun, and because I know some people have ships outside our beloved detectives. None of these are particularly ride-or-die with the exception of maybe the first; they’re based solely on vibes and what I think is fun :P

Executive Eggplant x Executive Assistant Olive (Murdle Jr. sold me on a lot of characters, and these two are among them. Considering what they do and say in that book, I get the feeling neither of them particularly like their jobs or their boss. So I figured they’d bond over that. And then I started shipping them over that. I have incredibly lazy fanart and everything XD)

Agent Fuchsia x Mrs. Ruby (I kind of feel like they’d have a whole cat-and-mouse-esque “law officer and master criminal” kind of thing. Like, chase sequences with copious amounts of tension. You see the vision?)

Comrade Champagne x Cosmonaut Bluski (“Is this just because they’re both communists?” Well, not ENTIRELY. It’s mostly because they appear in a case together in Book 2 [for similar reasons, I HC Umber and Flint as best friends] and also this art by Nines, which a) is hilarious and b) implies a very fun dynamic. And really, most of my ships are built around very fun dynamics :P)

Chessboxer Blaze x Editor Ivory (This one is SUPER random, so I’ll explain: remember a while back, I mentioned HCing that Irratino, Night, and Umber roomed together back in college? Well, if Case 3 is to be believed, there should be five people per room. So I grabbed Blaze and Ivory to fill out the remaining two spots. Then I got to bouncing them around in my head, decided I liked the way they vibed with each other, and, well, now we have this. My brain works in mysterious ways :P)

Reader Amethyst x The Black Hat (My only excuse here is “it’s funny”. I mean, hey, if they survived Volume 3, they’re probably stuck on that mountain based on their last known locations, so. They can keep each other company :V)

Instead of editor, literary agent might be better for Aziraphale! He would basically represent Crowley and be in charge of him like you want and could edit his stuff more closely in the developmental stage. If you want editor it might be even better to have Crowley be a self published author and he hires Aziraphale out of his own pocket. Also I love this whole idea so much!!!!

My former post-supervisor really fucked me over and I've been unemployed for months. At this point I'm applying to jobs in grocery stores cause it's just dead dead dead out there. Winter is always the time of year you don't want to be without a film or series to work on but this just abysmal.
