I can't stop thinking about Steve Rogers bending me over his knee and spanking my ass for misbehaving
steve rogers is a patient man. but when it comes to you and your attitude? his patience wore thin. very thin.
cw // spanking, anal fingering, scolding kinda, afab reader but it's barely mentioned, not proofread
the thing with steve is that he won't even degrade you. he'll scold you and punish you to get you to understand that stepping out of line is not something he is fond of.
so right now, you were bent over his knees, bare ass up in the air, anticipating the slap of his hand against your cheek.
"you've been bad, sweetheart." and came the first spank, a clean and sharp one that had you flinching. "trying to make me jealous? really? I expected better from you, love." you tried to defend yourself, to apologize, "i-im sorry stev-" but another spank came flying down onto you jiggling ass as he tsked.
"don't speak without my permission. now, don't you wanna be a good girl and repeat after me?" his voice coaxed more juices out of you, walls clenching around nothing at his tone. you nodded as he rubbed your ass cheek and you could almost think it was mercy.
wrong.
"I will not give steve anymore attitude." "i will n-ah-!" a yelp was pulled out of you when an even harsher slap landed on your ass, your body jolting. "c'mon, love, you can do better than this." you swallowed, parting your lips, "I will not- oh my- ffuh-" you sighed heavily as two of his fingers—that he lubed up using his saliva—pressed their way into your ass.
before you could relish in the pleasure that came with his penetration, two more harsh slaps on your cheeks had you twitching. "who told you you could stop, sweetie? c'mon," and he pinched your right ass cheek softly.
"say the words."

Could you do a Steve Rogers x reader where he constantly gets distracted by the reader bc he has a crush on her
A/N: It’s been so long since I’ve written anything for the MCU. Enjoy! I didn’t have much time today, so this is just a quick drabble that can be read before the actual story/one-shot. I haven’t decided on the ending yet, but there will definitely be some angst. I’m still unsure if it’ll have a happy ending or not.
Fictober Challenge
“So Cap, what’s the mission now?” Sam asked, lounging back in his chair.
“I don’t know. I didn't call the meeting” Steve replied, arms crossed.
“Then who did?” Clint chimed in, legs kicked up on the table.
“I did” Tony strolled into the room, a broad smile on his face.
“You seem…unusually happy” Nat remarked, raising an eyebrow.
“I am. We have a special guest today” Tony said, sipping his coffee.
“A guest?” Steve asked, not looking pleased. “When were you going to tell us?”
“Right now. Surprise!” Tony shrugged nonchalantly.
“And when is this mysterious guest arriving?” Clint asked.
“Any minute now” Tony continued to drink.
Before anyone could react further, you appeared at the door “Hello?” you knocked lightly on the open glass, glancing inside curiously.
“Ah, Y/n! Finally!” Tony exclaimed, standing to greet you and pulling you into a bear hug, lifting you off the ground.
Everyone else was caught off guard. This was a side of Tony they had never seen.
“Anthony, put me down!” you whispered, embarrassed, swatting him until he released you.
Steve cleared his throat, clearly waiting for an explanation.
“Right, everyone, this is Y/n, my cousin. Y/n, this is everyone” Tony gestured grandly.
“Cousin? You have a cousin?” Sam asked, disbelief in his tone.
Natasha smiled, stepping forward to give you a hug. “Good to see you again, Y/n.”
“Wait, you two know each other?” Clint asked, a hint of jealousy in his voice.
You and Natasha nodded simultaneously.
“Hold on, how do you know each other?” Sam asked.
“Isn’t it obvious?” Nat asked “When I used to work for Tony, we once visited her.”
“You technically still work for me” Tony teased. “Y/n’s been in Asia for years, studying. She just got her PhD in biochemistry.”
“Congratulations” Bruce said, looking intrigued. “What was your dissertation on, if I may ask?
You opened your mouth to explain, but Tony cut in, “Let’s get lunch first. You’ll have plenty of time to interrogate her later. Pepper’s expecting us.”
—
“So, you’re Bruce. Scientist and Hulk. Sam, Falcon. Clint,Hawkeye. James- sorry Rhodey, War machine…” you trailed off, naming the Avengers.
Steve nodded as you finally turned to him “And you, Steve Rogers, Captain America” you offered him a smile, and his heart skipped a beat.
“Thor is the only one missing right?” you asked and Tony nodded.
“Actually there’s one more” Steve added, “Bucky Barnes. He’s a friend from back in the day.”
Sam huffed “Yeah, but he’s not an Avenger.”
Steve shot him a glance “He comes to training, doesn’t he? Besides, when we need his help, he’s always there for us.”
“Always there for you, maybe” Sam replied.
Sensing the tension, Clint steered the conversation away “There’s also a kid that Tony brought for a couple of missions.”
“A kid?” you asked, raising an eyebrow at Tony..
Tony shifted uncomfortably “Oh, come on. Technically, he’s in his senior year.”
“Really? You made a high schooler an Avenger?” you rhetorically asked, crossing your arms.
“Well, yes. But-”
“And what’s his superpower?”
“Well, he’s… Spider-Man.”
You blinked “Spinder…what now?”
“Shoots webs. Does spider stuff.”
Sam chuckled as he lowered his voice “She’s gonna ask where the webs come from.”
You crossed your arms, eyeing Tony “Does he shoot webs out of his…?”
“Wrists” Tony interjected quickly “Just the wrists.”
Steve turned to you, his voice calm and soft “So, Y/n, are you staying here for a while or settling in for good?”
You hesitated, unsure “That’s a good question. I haven’t fully decided yet, but for now, Anthony said I could stay at the tower. I just don’t want to intrude.”
Tony opened his mouth to speak, but Steve was quicker “Nonsense. You wouldn’t be intruding. Besides, we have plenty of space, and technically, Tony owns the building.” His gentle smile put you at ease.
“Thank you for your generosity” you said with a smile, and Steve’s heart fluttered.

few more hours? : w.m
with wanda heading out on another mission, the pair of you decide to make the most of the night you have (just fluff my friends) 1k wc
masterlist / permanent taglist / etsy shop
feedback is appreciated!
“Are you sure you have to go?” You pout, hearing Wanda chuckle to herself whilst she finishes plating dinner for you both. “I mean, Tony already has Steve with him, does he really need both of you?” You continue with your weak argument, knowing it was futile.
Turning around with a frown, Wanda places the dishes in front of you both. “Y/n,” She trails off as you lower your gaze, nodding before she can finish her sentence.
“I know, I know.” You mutter, Wanda squeezes your hand lightly, the cool feeling of her rings into your palms soothing your thoughts temporarily.
“I just miss you when you have to go on these missions, that’s all. They just seem to be more frequent than before.” You shrug it off, not wanting to make a big deal of it, especially not tonight.
Resting her hand on your chin, she lifts your head up to meet her gaze. “Hey,” Sadness tinges her voice as her eyes meet yours. “I’ll be gone for a week, that’s all.” She tries to assert, watching you nod. “But I’m here tonight, so let’s make the most of it, yeah?”
You smile half-heartedly, unable to stay sad for too long when she’s around. “Alright, I’ll find the facemasks.” Sparing her a kiss, you rush off to find the resources you'll need, leaving Wanda to shake her head at your antics.
*
"And you like things like this? Singing and dancing?" Wanda tries to furrow her brows, though the mask sets them in place whilst the film plays on. "I just don't get the appeal, my love." She huffs.
Rolling your eyes, you remove yourself from her embrace. "Well, I grew up on these kinds of films, just like you did watching sitcoms, you know?" You explain, yet Wanda still remains unconvinced. "You know, I think I still remember a dance or two," With a smirk, you rise to your feet despite Wanda's protests.
"It's okay, I believe you." She protests, but you simply shake your head and stand alongside the screen as the film comes to the final scene.
"I might be a bit rusty, so don't judge." Wanda squirms at your stretches, and without warning, you start to dance along to the end sequence; evening going as far as to sing along. "-all in this together." Your voice croaks, nothing quite like the in-tune version from the screen.
Standing up, Wanda tugs your hand, bringing you into her lap back on the sofa.
Puffing lightly, your eyes gleam up to her. "So, whatcha think of that?" You ask, trying to hide your growing smile at her evident disdain.
"That was certainly," Wanda pauses. "something." She nudges your side, feeling you squirm beneath her.
"You know, when we first met I thought you were, well, intimidating." Now, looking up into her eyes, all you see is the joy she radiates. To think how far from the truth you originally were. "I'm pretty sure Clint had to force me over to at least say hi." You groan, thinking back to that memory.
Bringing her hand to your cheek, Wanda laughs quietly at that memory. "I remember it a little differently," She shrugs. "but I am glad you did say hi all those years ago, darling." Leaning in, her lips brush over yours sweetly, trying to memorise every movement.
Patting your thigh, you moan in annoyance as she pulls away. "I wanna take this off," She motions to her face, the mask how having cracked in several places. "so we can get back to that."
"I won't argue with you there, babe." You reply, following her into the bathroom.
Returning to the sofa, Wanda opens her arms for you to curl into her embrace as she drapes a blanket over you both. With a hum, you bury your face into her chest, blissfully ignorant to the film having restarted whilst you were out of the room.
Running her fingers through your hair, you're unable to resist the lull of sleep coursing over your eyes.
Sensing you're drifting off, Wanda hums quietly. "You know, when I first saw you, I thought 'How can something be so beautiful in real life'." Reminiscing, Wanda glances down, hearing you snore lightly. "And it's something I still wonder to this day, even if she snores."
The musical continues to play on in the background as Wanda's eyes begin to grow heavy and eventually rests her head on yours, sleep overcoming her.
*
Yawning loudly, the warmth across your back causes you to stir. "Wan?" Lifting your head up, you wish your phone was within reach as Wanda's mouth hangs wide open whilst she remains asleep. "Babe, what time is it?"
Without warning, Wanda wakes up on high alert. Such high alert that she shoves you off of her and only realizes at the sound of a thud below her. "Shit, Y/n, you okay?" Quick to help you up, Wanda peppers kisses across your face.
"That's one way to wake up." You respond, reaching for your phone, eyes widening causing Wanda to tense. "Now I don't want to panic you," You trail off, too late to stop Wanda from grabbing your phone.
Swearing profusely, Wanda begins to rush around the room, collecting her belongings. "Tony is going to kill me." Wanda yells, frantically redressing which you have to admit, is an amusing sight.
The redhead furiously flips her hair out of her face with a huff. "Wan, it's fine, I'll text Tony, and say you overslept." You reason, but Wanda shakes her head.
"I'm never going to live this down." She groans loudly, now having gathered her items she hurries back to your side.
Bringing your arms to wrap around her neck, you allow Wanda a moment to catch herself before kissing her. Your lips mold together, a sense of longing interlacing into both of you before you pull away first. "I'm gonna miss you." You admit, resting your forehead against hers.
"You better keep out of trouble 'til I get back, okay?" Wanda jokes, squeezing you tightly, wishing she didn't have to let go.
"I can't make any promises. But stay safe, and keep Tony in line." You add, giving her one last kiss before she rushes for the door, hearing her phone ringing as she departs.
Now standing alone in the absence of Wanda, your gaze catches sight of her hoodie over the back of the sofa.
Picking up the soft fabric, you slip it on over yourself, wrapping your arms tightly before curling back up on the sofa. With a content sigh, you can't help but wish Wanda was the one holding you in her arms, rather than her hoodie.

The pretty little actress of Rogers + Anything you want (Steve Rogers x Reader)
The pretty little actress of Rogers + Anything you want // Extra chapter for The pretty little actress of Rogers Steve Rogers x Reader Mafia AU Warnings: none
Summary: Steve wants to spoil you.
"But Steve," you argue. Your hand is in his as the tall blond man pulls you with himself in the crowd. "I really don't need anything." "Well," he replies. "I will buy you anything I want, then." "Steve," you start again, but Steve doesn't let you finish. His arm slides around your waist to keep you close against the traffic of the busy mall. People come and go under the bright lights of the building. The shops and the windows are decorated for winter. "Just let me do this, okay?" He asks. "Just a few things you can wear when you come to my place." His suggestion leaves you speechless. The thought of spending more time in his home makes you feel strange for more than one reason. You are not against the idea, but you feel guilty too at the same time. How far can you go with Steve? Having things at the other's place is a big step. Is it too far? Should you stop? Can you?
"Try this," he says, giving you a simple black dress with a heart-shaped cleavage. You don't even know how many clothes are hanging on your arm by now. He just goes around, dropping everything he sees and likes into your arms. "It's too much." You still follow him, though. Steve just scoffs at your words, shaking his head. He wants you to have a whole wardrobe at his place with clothes your husband never saw or touched. "There will be an opening party at our new nightclub," Steve says. "I want you to come, and I want you to have something pretty to wear." Okay, it's new info, you think. "A party? When?" "Next Friday," he replies, looking at you with a bit of worry in his clear blue eyes. He really wants you to come with him. "You can come, right?" "I think yes," you nod. "I don't have any plans for next Friday." "Good," he smiles. "Now, go on and try them on. I want to see you in the black one." "You are a bit demanding, no?" You tease him when he nudges you to the dressing rooms at the corner of the shop. "I would call it impatience," he shrugs, smirking. Who could blame him? You are the prettiest thing he ever saw, and you being in clothes he bought for you, do some things to him. His pretty little actress.
Steve's presence looms in front of the dressing room. You can feel him even through the light fabric of the curtain that hides you from the other customers. Your jeans and t-shirt are on the chair next to you, while you are standing in front of the mirror in that black dress Steve gave you to try on.
The black fabric is tight on you, showing off every line and curve of your body. The heart-shaped cleavage makes the whole dress cute, even though it's a bit too short for your liking. It leaves your thighs bare, and you can't help but tug it lower every now and again as you turn left and right to see your reflection better. "Well?" Steve asks from outside. "Can I see it?" "Okay," you exhale with a last tug as you step away from the mirror to pull on the curtain. The man's gaze falls on you immediately. It sweeps over your body, pausing at your legs and breasts. His throat bobs as he gulps and tries to hide the burning desire in his eyes with several blinks. Steve needs long seconds to find his voice and the right words while you bask in his attention. He doesn't even have to say anything. His eyes tell you everything you have to know. "You are beautiful," he croaks out. A shy smile tugs on your lips as you look down at your bare feet. You really feel beautiful from the way he looks at you. Like you are the center of everything he knows and wants from life. "Thank you," you reply. "Is it not too short?" He smirks. He wants to say it's perfect for easy access, but your relationship is not ready yet, and he doesn't want to scare you away. You need slow pace, and he will give it to you even if it makes him end up under the shower with ice-cold water. "It's perfect, Y/N," Steve says instead. "You are perfect."

Wanda: The world found out that both Captain America and the Winter Soldier are bisexual. Also that Pietro and I are Jewish and Romani.
You: Let's not even get started on Loki.
Wanda: Right. So now the haters are coming out in droves.
Nat: I mean, with all the shit that's happening right now, you would think they would have something better to cover.
You: Nope. It's not like other news outlets are any better.
Sharon: Sorry I'm late. I had to take a shower after my last mission.
You: No worries. Honestly, you're the first one here.
Wanda: Yeah. I just got a text from Monica and Jen. Monica's just got a new project and Jen made a breakthrough in her case, so she'll have to do an all-nighter.

Summary: The Thunderbolt's press tour is a fucking disaster—Valentina's controlling, the team’s a mess, and Bob Reynolds looks at you like he’s one second away from losing his mind. When you catch him pacing the armory alone, you take what you want. But when you tell him to stay quiet and be good... Bob doesn’t stay quiet. And he definitely doesn’t stay good.
Word count: ~4k

masterlist.
"Quiet, Bob."
The words came out as a whisper, but the threat in them made Bob Reynolds shiver under your touch. His back hit the cold armory wall with a clang, head tilting back, mouth already parted on a moan. His shirt was god knows where—somewhere between the racks of rifles and dusty, outdated StarkTech. Your mouth was on his, tongue sliding deep, fingers fisting his curls like you needed an anchor. And Bob? He was already halfway gone.
It had been a long, brutal week.
Valentina had decided that the Thunderbolts—the shiny New Avengers—needed a rebranding for a more "palatable" public. And what better way than a grueling, nonstop, goddamn press tour?
You were paraded like collectibles. Forced smiles. Posed photos. Tactical suits are tailored to make you look sleek. Heroes for the modern age, like she'd said.
Like a fucking boy band.
You were all lined up and put on display like action figure dolls.
"Smile for the cameras," she'd coo, pacing in front of you like a general inspecting her soldiers. "We're selling salvation, not trauma. Wipe that frown off your face, Bucky."
Bucky didn’t even flinch. Just stared through her, arms crossed, his metal hand twitching like it wanted to be anywhere else. Or wrapped around her throat.
Valentina didn’t stop there.
“You,” she snapped at you during the third press op, finger jabbing the air like it might actually hit you. “Need to look grateful, sweetheart. Do you know what I’m paying to make you likable? Not that you aren’t—you’re a doll, really—but come on now, you have to stop glaring at the children like you want to throw them into traffic.”
It was all bullshit. She’d even made Bob do interviews. Bob, whose voice cracked anytime someone looked at him too long.
Yelena had muttered something in Russian that was definitely a curse and didn't even try to smile.
Alexei had laughed too loudly during a morning show segment that made the host flinch, and a lighting rig tripped over.
Ava vanished in the middle of a red carpet appearance—literally phased through the floor and didn’t return for hours.
Walker kept trying to one-up Bucky in interviews. "Sure, Barnes is a legend," he'd say, clapping his shoulder, "but some of us chose to be heroes."
Of course, you snorted a little bit too loud. Loud enough for the mic to catch it. Loud enough for Walker to glare at you and Bucky to smirk.
And Mel? Poor Mel had to endure Valentina's bickering, forcing all of you to pose for pictures while muttering apologies like there was no tomorrow.
You were the first one to be asked for solo shots in the new tactical gear.
"Just a few poses," Valentina said, flashing a big, bright PR smile. "You wear it so well. We want something sleek. Powerful. Sexy, but not, like, thirst trap sexy, you know?"
You didn't miss the way Bob watched. He didn't say a word; he barely moved. But his eyes? They devoured you. Dark, wide, hungry. Like he was seconds from losing it in front of everyone.
Later that day, you'd found him in the dark armory, pacing like a caged animal. Shoulder tense. Breathing shallow.
So you pushed him up against the wall. Fist in his hair. Mouth on his.
And now—
“You have no idea what you do to me,” he growled against your lips, teeth grazing. His hands were gripping your hips tightly, grinding against you, still half-covered by his pants but already leaking, already thick and throbbing for you. “The way you looked in that suit—I couldn’t fucking breathe.”
You rolled your hips against his, slow and punishing. “You could’ve said something.”
“I could’ve snapped.” He laughed, breathless, voice fraying. “I nearly did.”
He didn't even make it to the bench.
By the time you shoved him down, Bob was already panting, pupils blown, knees buckling. He hit the floor with a groan, legs spread, cock heavy and flushed. You were on him in seconds—knees framing his hips, hands pressing down on his chest, owning him.
You thanked God for wearing a dress.
He didn't even see your panties come off. Just blinked and they were gone, tossed somewhere on the floor. His pants already shoved down far enough, his cock already free.
He looked up at you like you were something holy. Divine. Dangerous. Like he'd beg to be burned if it meant you kept touching him like this.
Then you reached between you, lined him up, and sank down in one thrust. He filled you up completely.
Bob swore, loud and wrecked—“Fuckfuckfuck—” his head hit the floor, back arching, eyes wide and pleading.
“God, you feel so fucking good—tight—perfect—I can’t—”
You clapped your hand over his mouth.
“Quiet, Bob.”
He whimpered behind your palm. His hands were everywhere—your hips, your ass, your thighs—like he didn’t know what to hold onto first.
You started to move—fast and rough, giving neither of you time to adjust. You didn’t want slow. Didn’t want sweet. You wanted to feel it. The way he stretched you open, filled every inch, the way his cock hit deep, perfect with every thrust.
Bob moaned into your palm, loud and choked and shameless. His hips bucked up hard, matching your rhythm, chasing every thrust like he couldn’t help himself. His grip on your ass tightened, spreading you wider for him, pulling you down harder.
Your name spilled from his lips again and again, muffled and wrecked.
“You’re so—fuck,—you’re so perfect—need this for so fucking long. I can't even fucking think when you're on me like this—God, yesssss"
You leaned down, dragging your lips along his jaw.
“You like being under me like this?”
He nodded, feverish, muffled praise tumbling behind your hand.
“Mhm—yes—fuck, please—you don’t know what you do to me,” he breathed against your palm, words falling out between gasps. “Been thinking about this—every night—every time you walked past in that suit, I wanted to fall to my knees—wanted to ruin you or be ruined, didn’t even fucking care—just needed you.”
You grinned, filthy and pleased. “And now you’re ruined under me.”
He whined, hips snapping up with such force that it knocked a loud moan right out of you.
“You feel that?” you gasped, rolling your hips in a slow, dragging circle. “That’s how deep you are. You’re so deep, Bob. I can feel you so deep inside me. God—you feel so fucking good."
“You’re so fucking perfect,” he moaned, eyes blown wide, hands gripping your thighs like a man drowning. “Such a good girl. God, you take me so fucking well—look at you—riding me like I belong to you—”
“You do,” you growled, dragging your nails down his chest. “You’re mine right now. You hear me?”
“Yes,” he gasped. “Yes, fuck—yours—always—please god don’t fucking stop—”
You clapped your hand over his mouth again, smirking down at him.
“Quiet, Bob. Don't you dare fucking come until I tell you to."
He whimpered behind your palm, body trembling, trying so hard to behave, to stay still, to not fall apart completely under your touch. But you kept moving—fast, hard, relentless. Your thighs burned. His cock throbbed deep inside you with every stroke.
And just when he was seconds away from breaking—
Hiss. The door slid open.
“Oh my fucking god.”
Yelena’s voice hit like a bullet.
You froze. Bob’s eyes flew open, pure panic, still fully inside you.
Yelena stood frozen in the doorway, eyes wide, hand flying to her face but only half-covering her view.
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” she muttered. “The armory? Are you both deranged? This is where we keep weapons, not—whatever the hell this is.”
Bob let out a muffled moan under your hand, utterly betrayed by his body.
Yelena pointed without looking. “Oh my god, this can't be happening. You’re—on top of him. And he’s—Jesus Christ, Bob!”
“Yelena!” you snapped, glaring over your shoulder.
“Alright, alright!” She held up both hands, backing away. “I’ll leave you to your... deep reconnaissance.” She snorted. “Real in-depth work going on here.”
“Yelena! GET OUT!”
“Leaving! Leaving!” she laughed, ducking out as the door hissed shut again. “Just make sure no one ends up disarmed.”
Your heart was still pounding when the door slid shut again, sealing Yelena—and her mouth—on the other side. You didn’t move, still straddling Bob, still full of him, flushed and breathless.
“You okay?” you asked, teasing, one brow raised. “She didn’t scar you for life, did she?”
Bob’s chest was heaving beneath you. He blinked up at you. Something shifted in his eyes.
“No,” he said—low, steady. Then, with startling force, he sat up.
“Bob—?”
His hands gripped your waist, hard. The next second, you were on your back, sprawled across the cool floor, his body covering yours. He was still inside you. Still rock hard. Still throbbing.
“You tease me like that,” he growled, voice rough and frayed, “and expect me to behave?”
Your breath hitched.
“You told me to be quiet. Told me not to come.”
His mouth was at your throat now, kissing, biting, breathing heat against your skin.
“You think I’m gonna ask again?”
You clawed at his back, nails dragging over sweat-slick skin.
“Bob—”
“No,” he snapped, thrusting hard. You gasped, your back arching off the floor. “You don’t get to be in charge now.”
He fucked into you like a man possessed—deep, fast, relentless. All the praise from before was gone, replaced by low, hungry grunts and the sound of skin on skin.
“You wanted this,” he hissed against your ear. “Wanted me like this. Loud. Messy. Mine.”
You moaned, wrapping your legs around him, trying to pull him deeper, and he gave it to you—over and over again.
“You feel that?” he growled, pounding into you. “That’s not deep. This—this is deep.”
You couldn’t even form words. Just gasps. Moans. Scratches across his back.
And he loved it.
He didn’t stop until you were shaking, whimpering beneath him, your control shattered.
He leaned in, panting against your cheek, his voice a rough whisper.
“Now tell me who’s fucking ruined.”

The lights are everywhere.
Glinting off skyscraper windows and camera lenses, bouncing off metallic armor and too-white smiles.
The voices are everywhere. They swarm like bees - the press, the fans, the murmuring of people watching people.
The flash of the cameras is a strobe light stinging the back of your eyes. Reporters shout questions like bullets, flinging them past your ears and into your chest.
You feel your lungs shrinking in your ribcage as if they’ve decided you’ve seen enough. Felt enough. Been too much.
You’re not supposed to be here.
Not in this crowd, not in this dress, not in front of a hundred reporters and their glittering cameras. Not in the spotlight. Not on the arm of the Bucky Barnes.
You tug at the hem of your dress, fingers nervous, breath catching on a sigh you don’t release. Everyone here looks like they belong - as if they were born to walk red carpets and sip sparkling drinks under light that only blinds you. You feel like an ink smudge on a page of golden script.
It’s the first time you’re out in the public with him. The first time the press will capture who’s been speculated to be the former Winter Soldier’s girlfriend.
Bucky spent the night whispering reassurances into your skin, but it seems you should have listened to his words rather than the feeling of his plump lips all over your body.
Your hand is in his, and his thumb traces slow circles against you, metal fingers warm from your skin. His other hand rests lightly on your back. He hasn’t let go of you once.
You look up at him.
And he’s already looking at you.
He looks perfect, tailored, controlled, dangerous in a way that makes people stare too long and then look away even faster.
His hair is swept back tonight, save for one defiant strand that keeps falling across his brow. You keep watching that strand as if it’s a lifeline. Like if you can count how many times it falls, maybe your nerves will shut the hell up.
You know he feels how tense you are.
He frowns, and it’s so soft it nearly breaks your heart. That Bucky Barnes can frown like that. As if you just told him you were fading into dust.
“Hey,” Bucky coos, voice soft, voice low, the world dissolving for a second into nothing but him and you. “You okay, sweetheart?”
You try to nod. But you can’t lie to him. Words jam in your throat, caught somewhere between the beat of your heart and the reality of who he is and who you are not.
“I just-” you manage, but it’s a little shaky, you look around. “I feel out of place.”
Bucky tilts his head, brow still furrowed tightly. “Why?”
You open your mouth, then close it again. Try to explain how it feels to be ordinary in a sea of extraordinary. How it feels to be his, but not one of them. How terrifying it is to not have armor, or training, or anything more than love for a man who could kill with his pinky finger and kindness in his eyes just for you.
Bucky steps in close, crowding the noise out with the breadth of his body, his warmth, the familiarity of his scent - cedar and cold and something quietly him. His nose brushes yours, and it’s stupid how it grounds you.
“I’d rather be anywhere else,” he murmurs, eyes locked on yours. “I’d rather be nowhere. Just me and you. On a rooftop. Under the sheets. In the woods. I don’t care. Just not here. No noise. No cameras. No Stark in a tuxedo with a martini making bad decisions.”
You laugh, and it trembles out of you.
His smile is all softness and secret promises. His eyes are glinting. “But if I have to be here - then I'm glad it’s with you.”
The way he says it - quiet, low, as if it’s something he only ever told the wind - freezes everything inside you and sets it on fire all at once.
You blink, and the fear stutters. Collapses a little. Because it’s not you and the Avengers. It’s you and Bucky.
His lips graze your ear, then your temple, taking his time. He’s not bothered at all by the cameras flashing around you, capturing this moment, capturing the Winter Soldier going soft on his girlfriend.
You want to fall into him. You want to crawl into his chest and live there.
You let out a breath. It’s just beginning to feel okay. The world quiets just for a second.
Then it explodes.
There’s a metallic whine, a rumble like thunder swallowed by stone. The ground jerks beneath your feet as though it’s trying to shake you off. Screams tear through the air. A plume of smoke mushrooms in the sky as fire roars from the far end of the pavilion. People scatter. Glass shatters. Concrete buckles.
You don’t even have time to be shocked when Bucky already reacts.
He pushes you behind him so fast your teeth snap together. He doesn’t look back. His body shields yours, metal arm braced outward, flesh hand pressing you into his back, eyes scanning for threats.
Another explosion cracks through the sky, rips through the atmosphere like an angry god. And right after, the next explosion follows, punched through the sky like a fist made of fire.
You cough, eyes watering. There’s debris. Someone’s car door skitters across the ground like a dead insect. Tony’s suit whirs to life across the square. Natasha’s already sprinting. Sam is in the air.
Bucky is moving, dragging you behind a line of armored cars, his body is coiled with tension, his expression is deadly serious.
“Stay here!” he orders. It’s his soldier voice. Cold steel and no argument. He’s never used this voice on you before.
“Bucky-”
“Y/n, stay down,” he barks sharply, and you nearly flinch. But his tone is not filled with anger. It’s filled with fear. “Do not move until I come back for you.”
Your heart is pounding so hard you think it might break your ribs. Your head is shaking from side to side so fast, you can’t do anything. “No- Bucky-”
He cups your face, his hands stiff, his hold almost rough. He leans in. “Stay. Here,” he growls. “I can’t do this if I’m worried about you.”
His eyes tell you he already is. He will be. But he doesn’t tell you.
He waits for you to nod, although he doesn’t have the time. An almost aggressive kiss is pressed to your mouth, then to your forehead, and he is gone. Thrown into chaos, lost in the smoke and fury and shouts.
You barely register the space he leaves behind. The smoke moves like a creature through the crowd, making people disappear wholly. Somewhere nearby, there’s another explosion. The screams rise again, louder.
You crouch lower, press yourself against the cold steel of the car, try to breathe through the hammer in your chest. You want to do what he said. You try to do what he said.
But the panic moves toward you.
You don’t see where it starts. Just feel it. A shove. A push. Someone collides with your hiding place, someone is behind you and suddenly you’re on the ground. White-hot pain at your side. You fall hard enough to see stars. A sharp ache slices down your shoulder where debris must have caught you. Blood runs hot and slick beneath your dress.
Disoriented, you try to push up on trembling arms but they shake too much, and everything is spinning.
You don’t see the soldier until you turn your head and there’s a flash of metal in his hand. A knife.
“Y/n!”
It’s your name. It’s Bucky’s voice. It’s not a shout. It’s a roar. As if it was ripped out of his chest. As if he’s afraid of what he’ll find when he gets to you.
From fifty yards away, across smoke and bodies and fire, he sees the blood blooming on your sleeve. Sees your fingers twitch as you try to sit up. Sees the man with the knife coming too close.
And he is barreling through the smoke like something unholy, eyes wild, teeth clenched, hands balled to fists. The light behind his eyes just snaps.
He moves as though he’s been set free. No hesitation. No fear. No softness left in him. His face is stone, is fury, is death, is Winter Soldier. His arm gleams under the flames, a ghost of his past resurrected in defense of his present.
Bucky hits the guy with bone-crushing force, enough to send teeth skittering across pavement. A scream echoes once before it’s cut off. Another blow. Another. Fist to face. Elbow to jaw. A crunch that sounds like death and rage all rolled into one. His vibranium hand wraps around the man’s throat, and you swear you see something flash in his eyes - something ancient and broken - before Bucky picks him up and slams him against a crumbling wall. Again. And again.
It’s not strategy. It’s not mercy. It’s pure rage.
Somewhere, Steve yells his name like a warning.
Bucky doesn’t stop.
“Bucky-” you croak, blood warm down your arm. You try to sit up.
In an instant, he turns back to you, easing up on his brutal hold and the soldier crumples to the ground. Bucky’s whole body is tight with adrenaline, his breath sawing in and out as though he ran through a warzone - which he kind of did. For you. His eyes find yours and shatter.
He’s at your side in half a breath.
“Baby,” he whispers, hands on your face, on your shoulder, trembling now. “No, no, no. You weren’t supposed to be- I told you to stay-”
“I tried,” you defend weakly, dizzy. “I didn’t- I’m okay. I think. Just- grazed me, maybe-”
But he’s not hearing you. Not through the panic tearing holes in his composure. His hands flutter, unsure where to land without hurting you more. His voice drops, gravelly and hushed. “I shouldn’t have brought you here. Shit, I should’ve known-”
“Hey.” You grab his wrists. “Bucky.”
He stills, but he won’t meet your eyes. Your thumb brushes the inside of his wrist. “I’m okay.”
But he’s too far in his head.
He wraps you in his arms in seconds, cradles you as if you’re made of moonlight and scripture, as if you’re hallowed and half-broken and held together by threads only he can see.
His metal hand supports your back, curved protectively around your spine. His other hand is pressing your legs into his chest.
The darkening sky is still full of smoke and sirens.
Colors smear across the sky like blood in water. Reds and blues. Shouting and static. Flashing lights and fractured ground. Somewhere nearby, someone is screaming. Somewhere farther, something explodes.
But not for him anymore. He doesn’t seem to hear anything. Doesn’t seem to listen to anything other than your breathing, your pulse.
He walks fast, but carefully. Erratic feet cut through rubble, his jaw is locked so hard, his body so rigid, he surely is in pain from holding all that tension. His eyes are storm-dark and unblinking. No one stops him. Not Steve. Not Tony. Not even the medics who see the look on his face and take a cautious step back as though maybe the devil borrowed his bones tonight.
He never trusted any random medic to look you over. It has to be someone he knows.
You whisper his name.
Soft. Breathless. Almost an apology.
And he almost drops to his knees.
“I’ve got you,” he rasps, hoarse and urgent. “You’re okay. I’ve got you.”
You know you are. But he doesn’t.
Your fingers curl in the collar of his suit jacket. His real name - James - lives on your tongue but never quite makes it out because he’s holding you too close, and perhaps saying his name might crush him completely.
He smells like smoke and ash and steel and blood. Your temple is tucked against the curve of his neck, where his pulse thunders beneath the surface. He’s warm and shaking.
He bursts into the quinjet that brought you here like a man on fire, like a man trying to outpace grief, and he yells something sharp. He lays you down - reluctantly, tenderly, surrendering - onto a stretcher, but his hands don’t stop touching you.
He’s a storm with a purpose, and that purpose is you.
You, safe.
You, whole.
You, alive.
“Bucky,” you try to ease, blinking up at him, face pale under flickering emergency lights. “I told you, baby. It’s not that bad.” Your voice is soft. Slow.
“You were on the ground.” His voice cracks.
“I was on the ground for like two seconds-”
“You’re bleeding.”
“It stopped, baby. Okay? There’s no fresh blood.” You are close to whispering.
Bucky doesn’t seem eased, though. He sits beside you. Big body bent in half, elbows on knees, one trembling hand reaching to gently - so, so gently - brush your hair from your forehead.
And then he says it.
“I would’ve burned the whole goddamn city to get to you.” Quiet. Like a vow. Like a confession. Like faith. Like a truth, he doesn’t know how to carry anymore. “I would’ve torn down buildings with my bare hands if I didn’t see your breathing. I don’t care who saw. I don’t care what they think-” his voice breaks, his breaths spill all over his words. “I can’t be okay without you.”
You stare up at him. Your throat is tight, eyes are stinging. Because he doesn’t say things like that. Not often. Not out loud. You see it in his eyes every day, in the way he looks at you, in the way he treats you. But it’s something else entirely to hear him form those words and let his tongue roll them out.
He presses his forehead to yours. His breath ghosts over your lips. His eyes are closed. His hand cups the back of your head.
He’s holding you so close to him, as if he’s never intending to let go ever again.

summary: the team discovers bucky's relationship with you when bucky searches for you in the hospital after hydra attacks new york
⋆˚✶˚‧⋆。˚
“we just got the last of them on the east side. does anyone need backup?” natasha’s voice rings through the comms. tony’s response comes within a few seconds.
“air is neutral up here.”
“we’re just about wrapping up here,” steve adds on. “let’s reconvene on fifth and check in with emergency services.” he glances at bucky who stands on his left, stoically waiting for the next command. bucky nods at steve’s silent question, you ready?
they step over a pile of rubble. bucky reloads his gun, placing it back in its holster and starting a light jog as steve leads them away from the scene behind them. hydra had sent many reinforcements after the team had done a recon mission at an abandoned hydra base that was unknowingly more important to them than the avengers had initially realized. new york came to bear the consequences, just as the city always did. something about high populated cities… or whatever steve told the team as they were gearing up a few hours ago.
they turn the next few blocks and see sam land beside wanda and clint, his wings collapsing into his jet-backpack. tony joins them, already starting his updates.
“nypd called in the national guard to detain as many of the human reinforcements as they could,” he fiddles with some tech on his arm. “emt said graybar, seagram, and chanin had some pretty heavy bombings. victims are being relo-”
“chanin?” bucky cuts in. most of his teammates look at him with shocked faces. “did you say the chanin building?”
“yes, tinman.” tony retorts. “victims are being relocated to the closest hospitals in the area.”
“which ones?”
slightly annoyed, tony turns to look at him. “does it matter?”
bucky’s jaw clenches. “yes. it does.”
sam cuts in.“there’s five hospitals within a mile of here, there’s no way you’re going to know where one person went, bucky.”
“i don’t give a fuck.” he’s definitive and it shuts everyone up. “i want to know which hospitals.”
with a sigh, steve concedes and jogs over to the paramedic perched on the end of an ambulance, assisting a woman with a cut on her eyebrow.
bucky decides to make his way over too, only hearing the tail end of the conversation as steve says ‘thank you.’
“well?”
steve sighs again. “he said lagone is the closest, but frank ross hospital and tisch are taking in some too because the influx is so bad.”
bucky doesn’t even reply, jogging off in the direction of the first hospital and leaving steve in the middle of the road, stunned.
clint breaks the silence. “where is he going?”
“to the hospital, i guess?” steve sounds unsure in his response, still watching as bucky gets smaller and smaller as the distance between them increases.
“maybe we should go with him.” wanda suggests. “we still need to debrief and do our write ups.”
natasha gives her a side eye and wanda laughs.
“just following orders.” she exaggerates, teasing natasha and steve for their insistence on following the protocols.
“alright let’s go, then.” tony thrusts upward, sam following him up as everyone else begins to jog in bucky’s direction.
but bucky is fast. they don’t realize how much until they almost lose him two blocks over. they trail behind him as he bursts through the emergency room, charging towards the front desk.
“do you have a patient named y/n?” he begins to spell out your name letter by letter until the desk attendant interrupts.
“sir, i need you to step into the waiting room unless you need immediate medical care.” the room around them is a flurry of crying people, overwhelmed nurses, and helpless policeman who try to reorganize the growing number of patients.
“no, i need you to check if you have a patient under the name of y/-”
the team stands by the entrance, watching the interaction unfold but not quite understanding it.
“who is he looking for?”
everyone turns to steve assuming he knows, but his face shows just as much confusion. “i don’t know.”
“please,” bucky starts again. “do you have a patient register for today’s patients?”
with a click of her tongue, she hands bucky a clipboard with several papers on it. bucky’s eyes scan the names, worry etched on his face when he doesn’t see yours.
“sorry.” he mumbles, leaving the clipboard on the counter and turning around. he stops when he sees the team, but moves past them when he remembers what he’s doing.
anxiety is gnawing at him as he finds his motorcycle parked by the quinjet a few blocks away. he immediately drives off towards the next hospital, worried as ever that something has happened to you. you aren’t answering his calls, not texting him back, and he can’t find your location on the little app you taught him how to use. he doesn’t know what else to do.
the team can barely keep up, trying their best to help the people around them as they trail after bucky. they still don’t know what he’s doing or who he’s looking for.
by the third hospital, bucky is fed up and on the verge of a breakdown. he only has so much patience at this point, and sam is all too familiar with the signs.
“do you have a patient under the name y/n?” it’s the third time in the last hour he’s desperately asked a nurse at a front desk. he does the same thing, spelling out your name letter by letter until the nurse interrupts him.
“you’ll have to wait to check the registry list after all the patients have been attended to.”
“how long is that going to take?” his voice is laced with attitude, and he almost feels bad if not for the pit of anxiety swelling in his stomach.
“sir, you’re wasting my time.”
“bucky, c’mon, let’s go.” steve reaches to hold bucky’s shoulder, but he shrugs it off.
“no, goddammit!” he’s fuming, turning back to the nurse. “i need you to tell me if you have a patient, y/n barnes. i’m her next of kin.” he slams his fist on the counter. steve takes a step back towards sam, in shock at the information.
“does he have, like, a niece?” sam asks. “did he tell you anything about his sister? maybe she had a family after-”
“yes, i see her name listed here. only immediate family can see her.”
“i am immediate family!”
“sir, unless you are a parent or her husband, you need to wait until all th-”
“i am her husband!” he slams his ring down on the counter, gripping onto it like he depends on it, because he can’t risk losing you. “take me to see me wife right now.”
with a nod, she leads bucky down a hallway of rooms, turning left into the very first room. she makes her way back towards the front desk where steve has now approached.
“hi, ma’am. would you mind if-” steve gestures towards the room. the nurse’s jaw drops at seeing the vibranium shield, clint’s bow, and tony stark standing there with a partially deconstructed nano-tech suit.
“go right ahead.” she stutters out, watching the avengers trail after the man with the metal arm. they stop in the doorway, huddled as they watch.
“y/n?” bucky steps towards the hospital bed.
you aren’t even laying in it. you’re sitting on the edge of it staring out a window, back facing the door. at the sound of his voice, you whip around. tear streaks stain your face.
“bucky, oh my god-” you run into his chest, engulfing him in a hug. he sighs into your hair, smelling you and breathing in relief at the sight.
“you’re okay, it’s okay.” he coos, rubbing your back. “what happened? are you hurt?”
you shake your head, still nuzzled into his chest. you peer up at him, “paramedics found me unconscious. it’s just a concussion, but they brought me in anyways. i just have a couple stitches.” you gesture to your calf. “rough fall after i got knocked out, i guess.”
he nods, pulling you in for a kiss. it’s desperate and full of love and every emotion he’d felt in the last two hours.
“i thought- i thou-”
“no.” you cut him off. “i tried to find a phone but nothing was going through. i saw the weird alien dogs coming from a giant truck, and- and the hydra symbol was plastered all along the sides i thought maybe they-” you can’t even finish your sentence, too overwhelmed at the possibility.
“never.” he kisses your forehead, holding your face in both his hands. “they could never take me from you.”
you rest your forehead against his, inhaling the scent of your husband and gripping onto him because you never want to leave him again.
“so..” tony cuts in. “wife?”
“tony!” natasha scolds. “get back here!”
clint tries his best not to laugh but he can barely hold it in.
sam is next to join in. “when did this happen?” he looks at steve with a quirked brow. “did you know?”
“i swear i didn’t.”
“a wife.” sam repeats. “you didn’t know your best friend has a wife.”
“he’s a trained spy!”
“and a former soviet asset.” clint confers. “you’d think you would keep more tabs on the guy.”
steve rolls his eyes, turning his attention back to bucky.
“is she really your wife?”
bucky nods reluctantly, a little sheepish as you hold up your left hand to show them your rings.
“for four years now.”
“FOUR YEARS????”
“sam-”
“and you NEVER SAID ANYTHING?”
“guys” nat pays no mind to sam’s ramblings. “i think we can all agree how hard it is to live life as an avenger. it’s not like clint was exactly honest about his family, either.”
“i thought you were on my side!” he huffs.
“whatever.” sam pouts. “i wish i could’ve gone to the wedding.”
“we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.” bucky smiles appreciatively at steve, who starts moving back towards the exit. “maybe we can talk about this when everything settles down and she gets out of the hospital.” steve looks at you, really looks at you, for the first time. deep down, he’s glad his best friend found the one thing he’s wanted his whole life. “right bucky?”
bucky nods.
“okay,” steve smiles understandingly. “debrief is tomorrow at noon. don’t be late.”
bucky turns back to you as the team leaves your hospital room.
“i guess the secrets out.”
bucky nods in agreement. “i’m really glad you’re okay.”
you kiss him again, “take me home, bucky.”

High on meds Bucky who keeps howling about how you put bee bum juice in his tea.
"Bucky, it's just honey-
"BEE. BUM. JUICE"
You arched a brow at the prominent pout that stayed plastered on Bucky's face as he sat swaddled in a blanket on the couch with his arms crossed against his chest.
"You always like honey in your tea Buck, it's good for you, it'll help your sore throat-
"She's putting bee bum juice in my tea!" Bucky shrieked as Steve walked by, refusing to take a sip of what you'd made for him countless times before.
"Bee bum juice...?" Steve's face scrunched while his best friend huffed, still deeply offended at the tea spoon of sweetness you stirred into his drink.
"Honey. I put honey in his tea" You said in exasperation, "He's on antibiotics for a sore throat. Of all things to take him down, this-" You motined to the bundle of blankets containing 1 super soldier inside, "this is what does it"
"Here, let me try" Steve took the cup from you and sat beside Bucky, putting it on the table when Bucky shuffled away from him, wracking his brain over what he could eat or drink in his current state.
"Okay, how about some chicken soup-
"BOILED BIRD WATER"
"Buck, you love chicken soup, it's your fav-
"BOILED. BIRD. WATER"
"Fuck"

Adding onto the common HC I’ve been seeing of John being the group cook — he is DEFINITELY the “get the fuck out of my kitchen while I’m cooking” type of person, like you walk in to get a glass of water and he is like “fuck off no I WILL get you water do not DISTURB my cooking. Here. Now LEAVE.”
I like to think he’s mainly like that cuz he likes to solely focus on what he’s doing, and alot of the others end up commenting or asking too many questions — this kinda feeds into my undiagnosed OCD/Autism HC for John — and it’s just annoying and overwhelming. But not Bob. Bob is allowed to stay.
John has declared Bob can stay because he is — as John puts it — “a respectful spectator”. Which started as Bob sitting in the common area near the kitchen doing whatever while John cooked, then slowly migrating over to the opposite side of the kitchen island. Then that evolved into Bob randomly saying little tidbits of how his day was and then it ended with Bob just coming in to yap about whatever while John cooks while replying ever so often but mostly just letting him talk.
John now finds a strange sense of comfort in his rambling and everyone else is like “why can he stay and we can’t” and John is like “cuz he’s Bob and you’re not.” And Ava teases him RELENTLESSLY for it like — “oooh someone’s playing favourites” and John just tells her to fuck off cuz in all honesty, he IS playing favourites.

We're Gonna Burn
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Female!Reader
Word Count: 3K
Warnings: Smut, Sex Pollen, Non/DubCon (because sex pollen), enemies to lovers.
Summary: When an exposure to a strange powder makes you feel as if you're burning to death, your only relief is in the person you hate the most.
A/N: Special thanks to my beta reader @whisperlullaby
We're Gonna Burn Masterlist

“What the hell was that, Barnes?” You practically yell as you push open the front door of the safe house you’d been directed to.
“I don’t know! I’ve never seen anything like it. God, the smell!” He shakes his head.
“It’s burned into my nostrils. All I can smell is that sweet flower smell. You’ve never seen that pink powder?” You throw your things to the floor, looking around the small, remote house.
“No, I’d tell you if I did, damnit! Why do you keep asking?” Bucky growls.
“You’re not the most forthcoming person! Shit, I think you’ve spoken more in the last two minutes than in the three months I’ve known you! Jesus, fuck, I’ve gotta get rid of this smell. I’m so fucking hot,” your voice gets smaller as you speak. You can’t think straight but head towards the bathroom, unzipping your tac suit and pulling it from your arms as you go. You slam the door and lock it. You turn the cold water on full blast and nearly fall over in your haste to get your suit off. The frigid spray helps for a few moments and you revel in it, but soon another type of heat begins to take over. Your clit throbs and when you place your hand between your legs, your wetness coats your fingers. The shower stops bringing relief and instead, the water coursing down your body seems to only make you hornier. You give in to the need that takes hold and circle your clit. It feels amazing and it takes only a couple of minutes for your orgasm to break over you. You bite your lip to hold in the moans, not wanting the asshat on the other side of the door to hear you.
Your body has a moment of relief but then the heat builds again, even quicker this time. You dip your fingers inside of you in a desperate attempt to stop it. The second orgasm you managed to pull did little to help your body and your fingers keep working furiously to bring another in hope of relief. Your moans are spilling from your lips without a care now. You just need to get this to stop. You’re disturbed when the door rattles and a fist bangs loudly.
“Open the door! I need to get in there,” Bucky bellows.
You wanted to scream at him to go away but you could barely form words. You hated the stupid supersoldier from the moment you met him. He questioned your every turn. Whether it was about your skill, experience, or motives. He never lets you get through a single conversation without making you feel like a lesser part of the team.
“Goddamnit, let me in!” He yells more loudly.
Nothing your hand was doing was helping any longer. You couldn’t think straight and, before you can make a move or form a thought, the door splinters open from a kick. A very naked Bucky comes through the door and your eyes widen as you see his cock standing at attention. He steps into the spray of the cold shower and growls. His hand works his cock furiously while his other rests on the tiles. His head falls forward as he lets the cold water fall down his back. You stand behind him, your hand still between your legs.
“Fuck, what’s happening to us?” you whimper as you lean your feverish forehead onto his back. The cool water does nothing to help but where your skin touches his tingles with relief. Abandoning all pride, you press your entire body to his and the fever seems to cool wherever you touch but your clit throbs even harder. Your cunt weeps, begging for attention. You rub yourself against him, your nipples pebbling at the contact with his back.
With a growl, Bucky turns around and you quickly back up to press your back against the wall of the shower. He stares at you, breathing hard.
“I’m sorry,” you mumble in your haze, “I don’t know what’s happening. I’m so hot and-”
You gasp as Bucky bends down, grabs your legs, and drags you up the tiles. You squeal and reach for any handhold as he puts your legs over his shoulders and attacks your clit with his tongue.
“Oh, fuck!” You scream as one hand lands on the ceiling to help you balance and the other buries in his hair. His tongue swirls over your clit expertly. His hands squeeze your ass as he gorges himself on you. It doesn’t take long for you to buck your hips as you come all over his face. As he sets you down, you squeeze your thighs together but your body simply screams that it wants more. You stare at each other, breathing heavily. “It’s not working. Nothing helps,” you whimper, tears forming. It’s obvious by watching him that this is affecting him almost as much as you. His supersoldier serum must be helping him but he was burning just the same.
Bucky sighs as he steps closer to you. He presses his forehead to yours with his eyes closed and whispers, “I think there’s only one thing that’s going to help.”
You put your arms around his neck, “Just do it!” You wrap a leg around his to encourage him and he lifts you up. He presses your back into the wall as he lines himself up with your entrance. He paused there for a second as if he was fighting himself. “Please, Barnes, please! I need it!” You can’t believe you’re begging the man you hate to fuck you but your body was demanding it and if he didn’t you were sure you would burn to death. If you had been thinking straight, you would probably prefer to burn but, at this moment, you wanted nothing more than to be filled.
“Goddamnit,” he whispers as he presses in. Your body bows with pleasure.
“Yes! Yes!” Your voice reverberates off the tile walls as you shout with relief. He begins to pump and your body trembles with each motion of his cock. He grabs your ass as he pounds into you and you know he’s as lost in the meeting of your bodies as you are. Your cunt flutters around him, pulling him in, begging for him to come inside of you. Your rational mind has gone completely silent and you are filled with only carnal lust. Every motion of his hips takes you higher and it’s all you want. “Don’t stop,” you grip his shoulders harder.
“Fuck,” Bucky grunts. He couldn’t stop if he wanted to and, truth was, this was the best thing he’d felt in a long time.
“Oh, God, oh, God, I’m- yes!” You release a long, high-pitched moan as you come. Your pussy grips his cock as his hips stutter. He comes with a long moan that makes you clench around him more firmly. You stay there for a few moments, catching your breath, and blessedly your body finally starts to cool. You release your legs from around his waist and he gently sets you down. You can’t look at him and instead maneuver yourself back under the cold spray. You rinse off quickly and step out of the shower. Wrapping yourself in a towel, you exit the bathroom to find your pack and some clothes. While you rifle through your pack, you feel your temperature creeping up again and then you double over from the intense wave that rolls over you. “No, no, not again,” you whisper to yourself. You look over to the broken bathroom door where Bucky still is and consider your options. Sex had given you the relief you needed but it was short lived. Your mind runs amuck with questions. What the hell was that powder? What was it doing to you? How long would this last? How many times would it take to stop this heat from trying to burn you alive? Was sex really the only relief you would find? Another pang hit and knocked the breath from your body. You were gasping in pain when an arm picked you up around your middle.
He was still wet from the shower and hadn’t bothered to dry off. The pains had hit him and he went to the only place he knew he could find relief. He carried you to the small bed in the house and set you down on your hands and knees. He grips your hips tightly and pauses for a moment as another rush of heat spreads over him, “I need-”
“Just do it,” your words come out in a rush, pressing back into him.
He enters you without preamble. Pulling you back to meet each motion of his hips, his moans give evidence of the pleasure and relief that the connection brings. You reach under you to play with your clit, trying to bring your orgasm on more quickly. Each of Bucky’s swift thrusts has you crying out with pleasure and he moves your hand away to bring you to orgasm himself. He wanted to feel you clench around him as you had before.
“Oh, fuck, just like that,” you whine, “Just like that, don’t- don’t stop, oh, fuck.”
Bucky moans as he feels your cunt flutter around his cock with your orgasm. The sounds you release are a hit straight to his cock and he comes hard, thrusting with each spurt into you. Breathing heavily, you both collapse on the bed. You lay on your side facing away from him while taking stock of your body. The relief you felt with your orgasm was short lived as heat began to build again after only a few minutes.
You feel like crying as your body radiates waves of heat. You turn over to face Bucky. He is lying on his back, his metal arm slung over his eyes, and his right hand fisting his hard cock. You make your decision quickly. Pulling his hand away, you straddle him and guide his cock inside of you. You move your hips slowly, hoping that perhaps if you stretched out the sex, it would keep the pain at bay longer. His hands grip your thighs as you rock slowly, his head is thrown back with eyes tightly closed. You looked at him for a moment and still couldn't believe that of all the teammates this could happen with, it had to be this asshole. When you first met him, you thought he was hot as fuck but as his personality (or lack there of) reared it’s ugly head you found him less and less attractive. Your anger at the situation grew as you rode him and you found yourself leaning forward, chasing your orgasm to just get this over with.
“Oh, fuck,” Bucky bucks up into you, causing you to cry out. He repeats the motion over and over again until your body spasms around him. He comes with a grunt as he watches your face contort with pleasure. You collapse on his chest without looking at him. You wondered if keeping your bodies connected would keep the heat from returning.
“Are you okay?” Bucky asks softly.
You sigh weakly as you felt the now familiar warmth beginning to spread, “I was hoping…” You let out a frustrated grunt, “I was hoping if we stayed touching it would be enough. But it’s starting again.”
“Yeah, me, too,” Bucky acknowledges his own heat building. “It’s gonna be okay.”
“You don’t know that. You can’t know that,” you grouse.
“I think… I think this might be a pheromone or something Hydra created to force procreation. I heard of the experiments but they abandoned it when it didn’t produce the results they wanted.”
“Which was?” You ask as your hips make slow circles. You can feel his cock quickly hardening inside of you.
“Naturally born supersoldiers,” Bucky strains out the words.
“So, we’re gonna have sex until we die or what?”
“Usually wore off in a few hours but until then…” he trails off as he gots lost in the sensations.
“Fuck,” you groan, partially out of frustration, partially from the pleasure his thick cock was producing.
“Basically,” Bucky says and you surprise yourself by laughing at the droll comment. You are even more surprised a second later when Bucky rolls you under him. He buries his face in your neck as he pulls your leg up higher and thrusts. You throw your head back as the pleasure begins to build again.
“Harder,” you whimper.
Bucky complies immediately and you whimper with each stroke. Grabbing onto him, you get lost in the feeling of his cock pounding into you sharply. You were glad that he at least was decent at this. Or was it that whatever the damn contaminant was made everything feel amazing? You were getting close with the steady way he fucked you and words started to pour out of your mouth. You were usually quite vocal in bed but hadn’t wanted to give Bucky the satisfaction. Now, you couldn’t stop yourself.
“Oh, god, it’s so good. Don’t stop, right there. It’s so fucking good. Oh, fuck, fuck, I’m gonna- fuck!” You let out a loud moan as you come hard and Bucky’s hips work even faster as he nears his own end. When he comes on a broken cry, your body revels in the feeling of him emptying himself in you.
The rational side of your brain sounded far away but was still screaming at the situation. In a moment of it managing to take hold, you push Bucky off of you and roll away from him. Breathing heavily, you pray that this is over. Surely, this was enough to satisfy anything. You will yourself to stay cool, to not allow the heat to return, to hold onto any shred of sanity you can find, but despite it all, the heat built again. You felt like screaming but you knew that nothing you did would help. You turn back to Bucky and say frustratedly, “Ready for another round?” You can’t meet his eyes but you knew neither of you could handle the pain and heat. You needed each other.
Bucky turns to you, “Hey.” He waits, wanting you to look him in the eyes but you just stare at his chest. “Hey.”
“What?” You say waspishly, still refusing to meet his gaze.
“Never mind,” he says as he grabs you and pulls your back against his chest. His cock nudges you from behind and you maneuver your hips to allow him entry. His thrusts are quick and sharp but his fingers on your clit are pure magic. He’s learned your body quickly but instead of leading you straight to orgasm this time, he works you to the precipice and then backs off repeatedly. You understood what he was trying to do. He was trying to prolong the sex in hopes of not having to come inside you any more than he already had but it was as if your body only got angrier with each denial.
“It’s not working! Just let me come!” You finally cry out, your frustration having reached its breaking point.
“Say it,” Bucky growls.
You wrack your muddled brain trying to grasp what he wants and latch on to the only word you can find, “Please!”
“No, say my name.”
You would normally reel angrily at a command from him but the effects this powder had on you makes you compliant from need. You stutter as your tongue tries to cooperate, “B- Barnes.”
“No,” he says darkly, “Say it.”
“Bucky,” you grind the word out through your teeth. You had never once called him that. It had always been some variant of his last name. You felt even more vulnerable now.
Bucky doesn’t utter a word but he moves his hips faster and his fingers do their job. When you finally come, your whole body spasms and you scream. The sound was foreign to your ears but the orgasm just kept going. You fluttered around Bucky’s cock, milking him of cum. You stay in that position for the next two rounds of sex. Then you got on top again to give Bucky a break but this time you faced away from him. You couldn’t look at him. When you had rode him to two orgasms and yourself to utter exhaustion, he turned you on your stomach to fuck you again. You lost count of the number of times you had sex. More orgasms than you’d ever had in your life were accomplished and you didn’t have any clue how many times he came. You fucked until you both passed out.
Waking up fourteen hours later, you felt as if you had the worst hangover you’d ever experienced. You glance at the spot Bucky had been in but he was gone. On the table by the bed was a couple of bottles of water, a protein bar, and a bottle of pain reliever. You raised your eyebrow at the items but just shrugged as you tore into all of them. You notice your pack is by the bed and you get up to put clothes on. The first thing you notice is the soreness between your legs but really your whole body hurts. You listen for a moment but don’t hear anything in the house. Peeking out the door, you see the empty living room and slip into the bathroom. You shower quickly, trying not to remember what happened in the small space just yesterday.
You jump when a knock sounds while you are dressing. You call out, “Yes?”
“Exfil will be here in five minutes,” Bucky says through the broken door.
“I’ll be right out,” you say. Your stomach is in knots. You can’t imagine facing him after everything. Would he act like nothing happened or gloat like the asshole he is? You wonder if you will ever be able to look him in the face again. You look at yourself, surprised that you still look the same as you did yesterday because you know you’ll never be the same again. But you didn’t have time to dwell on that. Now, you had a jet to catch.

Thick Arms, Slow Grind
Title: Thick Arms, Slow Grind Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Female Reader
Word Count: 513 words (drabble)
Warnings: / Explicit Content /18+, Minors DNI, missionary sex, penetrative sex, overstimulation, sweaty/grimy intensity, filthy dirty talk, size kink, Bucky’s arms/biceps obsession, praise kink, soft possessive dominance, prolonged grinding… Wrote at work today after the group chat talk while I was on the train… A/N: For my Beefy!Bucky hoes
You were already trembling.
Legs bent high and braced against his thick waist, your calves pressed to his ribs as he loomed over you. His forearms planted beside your head, massive and flexing with every shift, caging you in, framing your face like a promise. The mattress barely registered beneath you. All you could feel was him: the salt of sweat, the leather of his scent and sin pressed into every inch of your skin.
Bucky didn’t stop. Didn’t ease up. Didn’t even slow down.
He fucked you like he meant it, chest pressed to yours, grunting low as he rolled his hips, grinding in deep. Long, dragging thrusts that pulled moans straight out of your throat. He rocked into you like his life depended on it- elbows tucked beside your head, the weight of him smothering, suffocating, perfect.
And those arms. God.
Biceps thick and hard as carved stone, flexing with every slow, devastating push. You could barely wrap both hands around one, fingers slipping on sweat-slicked skin as you gasped his name, barely holding on. Every inch of him was over you, under you, around you, inside you. Each stroke a full-body drag, the head of his cock hitting so deep it nearly hurt before pulling back with maddening control.
You’d already lost count of how many times you’d come.
Didn’t matter. He hadn’t.
“Oh, just like that, doll,” Bucky groaned, lips dragging over your jaw, forehead pressed to yours. “Fuck- yeah, squeeze me, pretty girl, that’s it- c’mon, again for me.”
You shook your head weakly, hips twitching as he ground up, buried to the hilt. “Bucky- I can’t-”
“You will,” he growled, a grin slicing through his stubble as he shifted his weight, pinning your hips with his. “You got more in ya Doll, I know you do. Look at me.”
You blinked up at him, dazed and wrecked, lashes damp with tears. His blue eyes blazed back, so close they blurred, lips swollen, teeth flashing when he kissed you again, messy, biting.
“That’s it. Fuckin’ perfect,” he muttered between kisses, lips brushing yours when he talked. “Takin’ me s'good. You feel that? How deep I am, huh? Ain’t nobody ever gonna get in this deep but me.”
You whined helpless, overwhelmed, the thick, brutal grind of him nudging something that sent heat ripping through your belly.
“God, you make such pretty sounds when I break you open like this,” he rasped, voice thick with lust. “Love watchin’ your face while I fuck the fight right outta you.”
Your fingers clawed at his shoulders, nails biting into muscle as the burn built again- sharp, white, rising fast.
“There she is,” he groaned, hips stuttering as he felt it- your body fluttering around him, so wet, so fucked-out you could hardly breathe. “Yeah, baby. Gimme another. Be my good girl, come on, come again.”
You shattered with a sob, buried beneath him.
And Bucky all sweaty, smirking, still so hard, just kissed your temple and slowly pulled back, only to push himself back in.
“Not done with you yet, sweetheart.”

Only You, Doll
Bucky Barnes x Reader
Summary: There’s something beautiful about the way Bucky loves you—fierce, unrelenting, like you’re the only thing anchoring him to a world he never belonged to. But when harmless smiles from other men threaten to shatter his fragile control, you learn that even a super soldier’s heart isn’t indestructible after all.
Bucky Barnes is not a jealous man. Or at least, that’s the lie he tells himself.
He’s been a lot of things in his unnaturally long life—a soldier, a weapon, a ghost—but jealousy? That’s a weakness for men who have something to lose.
And for most of his life, Bucky’s had nothing.
Until you.
The first time it happens, he doesn’t even notice at first. You’re at Sam’s backyard barbecue, the sun painting your skin gold, and Bucky’s only half-listening to Steve. His eyes keep drifting to you—how you move through the crowd with that easy grace, how you smile like the world’s still worth it, how every time you laugh, his chest aches like a bruise pressed too hard.
Then he sees it. Some guy—one of Sam’s buddies from god-knows-where—gravitating toward you, beer in hand, smile a little too bright.
Bucky watches the whole thing unfold, jaw clenched so tight his teeth hurt. The guy leans in, closer than necessary, and you tilt your head back to laugh at something he says. Bucky doesn’t even realize he’s crossed the yard until Steve calls after him, confused.
You’re mid-sentence when Bucky’s arm slides around your waist, pulling you effortlessly into his side, his touch possessive in a way that makes your pulse skip. His smile is polite when he says, "Hey, doll. Miss me?" but his grip on your hip is anything but.
The guy’s smile falters. You catch it immediately—and so does Bucky. Bucky doesn’t say anything. Doesn’t have to. The man makes a quick excuse and disappears into the crowd.
Only then does Bucky relax, just a fraction, his hand smoothing over the fabric of your dress like it’s some kind of grounding ritual.
"James," you say softly, eyes glittering. "Was that really necessary?"
He kisses your temple instead of answering, but the warmth of his body against yours says everything his words won’t.
You think it’s a one-time thing. It’s not.
At first, it’s almost subtle—his hand finding yours whenever you’re out, his body positioning itself between you and strangers. But soon it becomes a pattern, a choreography of quiet possessiveness.
A waiter calls you "sweetheart"? Bucky tips him 5% less. A man offers to help you carry something? Bucky’s already got it in his vibranium hand. Even at the grocery store, when some poor guy accidentally brushes against you in the aisle, Bucky’s gaze sharpens to a knife’s edge.
The kicker is, he denies it every single time.
Every.
Single.
Time.
The breaking point comes at Tony’s party—glamorous and over-the-top as always.
You’re on the balcony, enjoying the breeze, when a tall blonde drifts over. He’s harmless, you can tell—probably someone’s brother or date. The conversation is light, harmless, until Bucky steps outside.
The moment Bucky spots you—laughing at something the guy said—something dark flickers behind his eyes. His smile vanishes, shoulders squaring like he’s preparing for battle.
You feel him before you see him, the heat of his presence curling over your skin. His hand settles on your lower back, gentle but unmistakable: mine.
The guy catches the signal loud and clear, mumbling something before practically running inside. You watch him go, then glance up at Bucky. "Really?"
Bucky shrugs, but his jaw is tight, tension coiled through his muscles.
"James," you sigh, turning to face him fully. "Are you gonna tell me what that was about?"
He doesn’t answer immediately. Just stares past you, at the glittering city lights, like they hold a truth he can’t bring himself to say aloud.
"I didn’t like the way he was looking at you." His voice is low, almost embarrassed.
"Buck," you step closer, fingers brushing his, "he was harmless."
"So was the last one," Bucky mutters. "And the one before that. And the one before—"
You press a hand to his chest, right over his heart, feeling the rapid beat beneath your palm. "Do you really think I’d ever—"
"No." His answer comes quick, fierce. "It’s not you I don’t trust, doll. It’s men. Men like me."
Your brow furrows. "What does that mean?"
He exhales sharply, like the confession physically hurts. "I know what they’re thinking when they look at you. Because once upon a time, that was me. Before you, before I knew better."
It hits you all at once.
This isn’t about jealousy. Not really. It’s about fear—the kind born from a lifetime of loss and war, from learning the hard way that good things slip through your fingers like smoke.
"Bucky," you whisper, fingers curling into his shirt. "I’m not going anywhere."
His throat bobs with a hard swallow. "I know." But he says it like he doesn’t believe it. Like the universe has never let him keep anything this good before.
Later, curled up on his couch, you poke at him again—because you love him, and because teasing him feels like stitching soft threads through his battle-scarred edges.
"So," you murmur, tracing patterns on his chest, "jealous?"
Bucky groans into the pillow behind his head. "I’m not jealous."
You grin, propping yourself up on one elbow. "Really? Because if I remember correctly, someone nearly growled at a waiter last week."
His arm slides around your waist, tugging you back down until you’re sprawled across him. "I just know men, doll. That’s all."
"Because you are one?"
"Damn right."
"And you don’t trust yourself?"
Bucky’s smile is small, a little crooked. "Not even a little."
You laugh, burying your face in his neck. "James Buchanan Barnes, you are a menace."
He presses a kiss to your temple, voice a soft rumble. "I’m your menace."
And there it is—the truth he can’t always say aloud. That he’s yours. That you’re his.
And maybe, just maybe, if he holds you tight enough, the universe won’t take you away too.
The next morning, you catch him sneaking one of his shirts into your bag before you leave for work.
"Because," he says when you raise a brow, "if men are gonna look at you, they can at least know you belong to someone."
"Possessive much?"
"Absolutely."
You laugh, looping your arms around his neck. "Good. Because you’re mine too, Barnes."
And for the first time, Bucky doesn’t argue.
─────────────
It starts with his shirt.
The one he snuck into your bag this morning. The one you wore to bed tonight, just to tease him.
You’re curled up under the sheets, the worn Henley draping over your thighs, and Bucky’s standing at the edge of the bed—blue eyes darker than the sky outside, jaw tight, hands flexing at his sides like he’s fighting himself.
You know that look. It’s the one he gets when he’s teetering between lover and soldier, between tender and ruthless.
"Something wrong, Sergeant?" you ask, voice soft and playful, but the way his gaze drags over your body—the outline of your bare legs under his shirt, the curve of your hips shifting under the sheets—makes your pulse trip.
Bucky exhales hard, dragging his vibranium hand over his face. "Doll."
Just your name. Just that voice—low and gravel-rough, thick with something hungry.
You sit up slowly, the sheets pooling around your hips, and his Henley slips off one shoulder. Bucky’s eyes track the movement like a predator stalking prey.
"You’ve been pushing me all day," he mutters, stepping toward the bed, his weight sinking into the mattress like a warning. "Talking back. Calling me jealous."
"Because you are," you smile, all innocent and wicked.
Bucky’s weight is over you in a heartbeat, caging you beneath him. The cool press of metal fingers against your jaw makes you shiver.
"You think it’s funny," he says, voice dark silk, "how crazy you make me."
"Maybe a little," you whisper, eyes sparkling with defiance.
He leans in, his nose brushing yours, lips barely an inch away. "Do you know how hard it is," he murmurs, "to watch men look at you like they could ever deserve you?"
Your breath hitches.
"I don’t trust them," he continues, mouth ghosting down your throat, voice fraying at the edges. "But you? I trust you with every fucked-up, broken piece of me."
Your hands slide into his hair, tugging him down until your lips meet his, and the moment they do, the tether snaps.
Bucky kisses you like a man starved—deep and hungry, all teeth and tongue and desperation. His flesh hand fists in the fabric of his own shirt on your body, tugging it up until your bare skin meets the rough drag of his calloused fingers.
"Mine," he growls against your mouth, and you don’t argue.
Because you are. You always have been.
He strips you of his shirt like it’s offended him, tossing it aside carelessly. His lips map a path down your neck, your chest, his metal hand pinning your hips as his mouth closes around your nipple, sucking just hard enough to make you arch.
"Bucky—"
The sound of his name from your lips makes him groan, the sound vibrating against your skin. He kisses lower, trailing down your stomach, his stubble leaving pink paths in his wake, until his shoulders are wedged between your thighs.
"You want me to stop being jealous, doll?" he asks, voice rough silk against your inner thigh. "Fine."
His tongue slides through your slick folds, slow and deliberate, like he has all the time in the world to ruin you.
"I’ll just remind you," he murmurs between kisses, "why you don’t need anyone else."
Your hands tangle in his hair, thighs trembling against his cheeks, and Bucky loves it—loves the way you come undone for him, no barriers, no pretense. Just you, open and wrecked and his.
He works you like a man who knows your body better than his own—tongue circling, fingers curling inside you, teasing and relentless until you’re begging his name like a prayer.
"You’re so fucking perfect," he rasps, eyes flicking up to watch you fall apart. "Every inch of you—mine."
The moment you break, his name on your lips like a confession, Bucky’s already crawling back up your body, mouth crashing into yours, letting you taste yourself on his tongue.
"Need you," you whisper, nails digging into his back. "Need you inside me."
"Fuck," he groans, forehead pressing against yours. "You’ll kill me one day, doll."
He’s already bare—somehow you didn’t even notice him stripping—and when he slides inside you, it’s slow and deep, a claiming and a promise all at once.
You cling to him, legs wrapping around his waist, and Bucky moves like a man who has nowhere else to be. Just here, in this bed, with the only thing he’s ever truly wanted.
Every thrust pushes your bodies closer—skin to skin, heart to heart. His hands never stop touching you, like he’s memorizing you all over again, metal and flesh branding every inch of you his.
"You feel so good," he breathes, voice unraveling. "Like you were made for me."
You pull him down into a kiss, soft this time, your hands cradling his face. "I was."
That undoes him completely.
Bucky fucks you harder after that, like he’s trying to pour every unspoken word into your skin—you’re mine, you’re safe, I love you, I love you, I love you.
When you come again, it’s with his name on your tongue, and Bucky follows you over the edge, spilling inside you with a guttural moan.
For a long moment, neither of you moves. Just tangled limbs and breathless silence, hearts beating in sync.
Bucky finally collapses beside you, pulling you into his chest, and you trace lazy circles over his sternum.
"So," you murmur sleepily, "jealous?"
He groans, burying his face in your hair. "I’m not jealous."
"You just spent twenty minutes reminding me why no one else could ever have me," you point out, grinning against his skin.
Bucky sighs, but there’s no bite to it. "Okay, fine. Maybe a little."
You press a kiss to his chest, right over his heart. "Good."
"Good?"
"Yeah." You nuzzle closer, fingers tracing the edges of his dog tags where they rest against his skin. "Means you’re mine too."
Bucky’s arm tightens around you, holding you like you’re the only thing keeping him tethered to this earth.
"Doll," he whispers, voice softer than you’ve ever heard it, "I’ve been yours since the first smile."
You fall asleep like that, safe in the arms of a man who would burn the world down to keep you.

Falling first, Falling hard
pairings:avenger!bucky barnes × avenger!reader
Summary: The reader is a newbie to the team and is a nervous mess. On top of that she is falling hard for her metal armed teammate. Maybe just maybe, he may have fallen harder.
Word count: 1k+
Warnings and tags: reader insert, insecure reader, clumsy reader?, sweet bucky, he's down bad, cute fluff.
A/n: Two drabbles in one day?! I'm hustling.
You had always thought unrequited love would feel like a knife to the chest, but in reality, it was more of a dull ache—persistent, lingering, and impossible to ignore.
Being the newest member of the Avengers was already overwhelming enough. You were constantly surrounded by people who had saved the world multiple times, and despite all your training, you couldn't shake the feeling that you didn't belong. That feeling only worsened when it came to Bucky Barnes.
Because how could someone like him ever look at you the way you looked at him? You weren’t Natasha, who moved like a shadow in the night. You weren’t Wanda, who could alter reality with a flick of her wrist. You were just… you. And Bucky? Bucky was Bucky. And that meant he was completely out of your league.
The first time you met Bucky, you had been so nervous that you'd nearly tripped over your own feet while shaking his hand. He had smirked, and you had wanted the ground to swallow you whole. Since then, things had only gotten worse.
Like the time you had walked into the gym, not realizing he was shirtless and dripping with sweat, and let out an embarrassing squeak before running away like a coward. Or the time you had been sparring with Sam and Bucky had walked in just as you got distracted, resulting in Sam flipping you onto your back with an obnoxious laugh.
Or, worst of all, the time you had tried to make conversation with him over breakfast and accidentally knocked your entire plate onto his lap. That one had been the worst. You had stammered out an apology, turning redder than a tomato, while he had simply chuckled and told you it was fine. Steve had given him a weird look after that, but you had been too busy internally screaming to notice.
It wasn’t that Bucky was mean. No, he was the opposite—patient, kind, always willing to offer you advice on the field. But that kindness only made it harder, because you were convinced that’s all it was. Kindness. If only you knew the truth.
Bucky Barnes was a patient man. He had spent decades waiting for freedom, for redemption, for peace. But waiting for you to see what was right in front of you? That was torture.
Because Bucky had fallen first. And Bucky had fallen hard.
He had noticed you the moment you walked into the compound, wide-eyed and nervous, clutching your duffel bag like a lifeline. He had noticed the way you hesitated before speaking in meetings, always second-guessing yourself. The way you muttered under your breath when training didn’t go as planned. He had noticed the way you looked at him, too.
At first, he had thought he was imagining it. But then there were the stolen glances, the way your breath hitched when he got too close, the way you’d go completely red when he so much as smiled at you.
It was adorable. Painfully adorable.
But somewhere along the way, your crush had stopped being one-sided. Somewhere along the way, Bucky had found himself watching you just as much.
Noticing the way your nose scrunched up when you concentrated. The way your laughter was always the loudest in the common room. The way you always waited for him to return from missions, even if you pretended it was just a coincidence.
The way you never seemed to realize just how incredible you were. You thought you weren’t good enough. That much was obvious. But to Bucky, you were already more than enough. And now, he just had to make you see it.
You had been training in the gym, trying (and failing) to land a proper kick when you heard the door open.
"That was… somethin’," Bucky teased as he leaned against the wall, arms crossed over his chest.
You groaned. "Please don’t say anything."
Bucky smirked, walking over to you. "You’re overthinking it," he said, stepping behind you.
"Here, let me help." Your brain short-circuited when his hands gently settled on your waist, positioning you properly.
"Keep your balance," he murmured, his voice close to your ear.
You barely heard him over the sound of your own heart hammering in your chest. When you finally managed to execute the move properly, you turned to him, beaming.
"I did it!" Bucky smiled.
"Told ya." Your excitement faded slightly as you looked down.
"Still… I have a long way to go." Bucky frowned.
"You know, for someone as smart as you, you say a lot of dumb things." Your head snapped up.
"What?"
"You’re always puttin’ yourself down," he said, shaking his head.
"But you don’t see yourself the way I do." Your heart stuttered.
"The way you do?"
He exhaled, rubbing the back of his neck. "Doll, have you really not noticed?"
"Noticed what?" you asked, your voice barely above a whisper.
Bucky sighed. "I like you," he admitted, eyes locked onto yours. "A lot."
Your brain froze. "You—what?"
Bucky chuckled. "I like you," he repeated. "And not just in a ‘teammate’ kinda way."
"But… but you’re you," you blurted out. "And I’m just—"
"You," he interrupted firmly.
"And that’s exactly why I like you." You stared at him, completely speechless.
"You think I didn’t notice?" he continued, stepping closer.
"The way you look at me? The way you get all flustered when I’m around?" Your face was on fire.
"Oh my god, stop this is so embarrassing." Bucky chuckled, reaching up to brush a stray strand of hair from your face.
"It’s not embarrassing, sweetheart. It’s cute."
You swallowed. "You… really mean it?"
Bucky nodded. "I'm falling hard for you," he admitted softly. Your breath caught in your throat.
"And if you let me," he added, "I’d like to prove it to you."
For the first time in forever, the insecurity in your chest didn’t feel so heavy. Because Bucky Barnes had fallen for you. And maybe, just maybe, you were exactly where you were meant to be.

⊹ ⊹ ⊹ ⊹ ⊹ ⊹ ⊹ ⊹
The mission was supposed to be simple. In and out. Detain the targets, secure the entire facility, and minimize civilian casualties. Standard Thunderbolts cleanup. You'd done this dance before—storm in, assert dominance, extract data and bodies. Easy.
But you knew the moment Bucky said, "Bob's on this one," everything in your chest went cold.
The tower was quiet, too quiet, until it wasn't. Until the entire place was filled with hurried footsteps, shouts bouncing off the walls, and orders being thrown like grenades, gear bags being slammed open, weapons loaded with sharp clicks, and comms lighting up with rapid-fire intel. The whole floor shifted into emergency mode.
You'd barely finished gearing up when Yelena grabbed your arm and dragged you toward the elevator, her expression tight, mouth set in that grim, no-bullshit line that only ever meant bad news.
"Valentina wants all of us on-site," she muttered, pressing the call button with enough force to crack the panel. "Right now. Facility breach. Something about biotech. Hostages."
"Since when do we scramble before briefing?" you asked, yanking the zipper of your new tactical suit closed, holster strap still half-loose dangling on your hip. "Do we even have a plan?"
Yelena didn't answer. She didn't have to.
When the elevator doors opened, Bucky was already inside, pacing back and forth. His jaw clenched, comms piece buzzing with chatter. He looked up when he saw you—but he didn’t smile. Didn’t nod.
Jeez, so much for a good morning.
"Let me guess," you said, stepping into the elevator next to him. "Valentina's stunt?"
"She pulled Bob in last minute," Bucky said, his voice laced with frustration. "Didn't even care to fucking tell me. I found out when I saw his name on the team feed. Walker's there with him, Ava too."
"Are you fucking kidding me?" you froze. "She put him first? With Walker?"
“She wants to see if he's still 'field-capable.'" Bucky's voice dripped sarcasm. "Her exact words. She thinks this is some kind of game. Like we're testing out a new drone, not a man who nearly blacked out half of a city six months ago."
“Is she out of her fucking mind?” you hissed. “Bob’s not—he’s not ready. He shouldn't be anywhere near this.”
“No shit,” Yelena muttered from the other side, crossing her arms. “And we’re the ones who’ll have to clean up if he loses it again.”
You exhaled slowly, trying to damp down the rolling anger in your chest. Not at Bob—of course not, this wasn't his fault. You were mad at Valentina and her fucking need to push him to the edge. "Great," you muttered, rubbing your face with a hand. "Let's all just hold hands and pray he doesn't crack."
The VTOL sliced through the clouds like a blade, engines humming low and tense. Rain battered the sides in sharp bursts.
You sat strapped between Yelena and Alexei, your harness tight across your chest, heart beating even tighter beneath it. Across from you, Bucky was locked in, jaw clenched, staring out the side window with a look that could shatter the glass any moment. When he finally looked away from the window, he fixed his gaze directly on you.
"I need you to be ready," he said, voice low and rasped. "In case Void—" He paused, breathing raggedly. "In case Bob snaps."
You blinked. "Bucky—"
"If it happens," he cut you off, "if he breaks... don't wait for an order. Do not hesitate. You hit him with everything you've got."
Your mouth opened, but no words came out.
Because you hesitated.
Not because you didn't understand the danger. Not because you didn't know what Bob was capable of when the Void took hold. You'd seen it. Firsthand. The devastation. The aftermath. The look in his eyes—those dark, endless eyes—when he realized what he’d done.
But you'd also seen something else. You'd also seen the other side of him. The guilt
You'd been there the last time. When the Void clawed its way up his throat like poison, he dropped to his knees, shaking, burning with power, guilt, and fear. You were the only one who could get through to him. The only one who could touch him without him recoiling like he might shatter.
You'd whispered his name and watched his fist unclench slowly. You'd put your hand on his chest and feel his heartbeat slow. You'd seen how the black storm slowly evaporated, leaving a broken man sobbing against your chest.
That night was the worst for Bob.
You remember it vividly—his body trembling against yours, eyes wide and hollow after the Void had finally disappeared. He hadn't said a word. Just sank to the ground, hands fisting in his hair, like he was trying to hold his skull together.
You’d dropped down beside him, pulled him close, felt the heat radiating off his skin like a fever breaking. And when he finally clung to you—arms wrapped around your waist, face buried in your shoulder—it wasn’t just desperation. It was terror. Like if he let go, he’d fall into some pit that never ended.
He cried.
God, he cried so hard.
And you didn’t say anything. You didn’t try to soothe it away. You just held him. Let him shake. Let him break.
That night, you stayed with him.
He pulled you into bed like he didn’t even realize he was doing it—just moved toward your body like it was instinct, like your presence was the only thing keeping him tethered to the world. His fingers curled in your shirt, his face buried in your chest, breath hiccuping between exhausted sobs.
You thought he’d fall asleep eventually.
He didn’t. Not right away.
He kept whispering, voice barely audible: “Don’t leave. Please. Just… don’t leave.”
And how could you?
You didn’t.
So you stayed.
And when he finally passed out—curled around you like a second skin, little soft snores slipping past parted lips—you just watched him. His face was peaceful for once. Almost boyish. His lashes fluttered when he dreamed, but he didn’t cry out. Not with you there.
You tried to slip out once.
Just to stretch. To breathe. But the second your body shifted away, his arms tightened like a vice, dragging you back in, even in his sleep. Like his subconscious couldn’t bear the thought of you disappearing.
From that night on, it became… a thing.
Every time he had a nightmare. Every time the Void started to whisper again. Every time he needed quiet but didn’t know how to ask for it—he came to you.
He never knocked loud. Just a soft tap on your door, barely audible. You’d open it to find him standing there, shoulders hunched, hair messy, eyes big and guilty and so shy. Like he hated himself for needing you but couldn’t help it.
“Can I…?” he’d start to ask, voice barely above a whisper.
And you’d always let him in.
Always.
God, you loved it. Loved being the one person he came to. The one place he felt safe. The way he melted into you the second the door shut. The way he’d sleep tangled in your arms, legs hooked with yours like he needed as many points of contact as possible to stay grounded.
You never told anyone.
You never wanted to ruin it.
It was quiet. Sacred. Yours.
And now, strapped into this VTOL, Bucky’s words still echoing in your ears—“Don’t hesitate. Hit him with everything you’ve got”—all you could think about was how peaceful he looked in your bed. How tightly he held you. How terrified he was of being alone.
Because what if you could reach him again?
What if hitting him wasn’t the answer? What if all he needed was someone to see him before he disappeared completely?
Bucky must’ve seen the flicker in your expression, because his voice dropped lower.
“I know you’re close to him. I know he listens to you more than anyone else. But if that stops—if he doesn’t hear you this time... don’t let him take you down with him.”
He’ll hear me, you thought, jaw clenched.
He has to.
Yelena’s hand reached over, slow and steady, her fingers brushing against yours before curling around them. Her grip was warm, firm—anchoring. You turned slightly, meeting her eyes.
She gave you a small, quiet smile. The kind that didn’t promise everything would be okay, just that you wouldn’t be alone when it wasn’t.
“It’ll be alright,” she whispered. "We'll be right behind you."
You squeezed her hand back, once.
"Visuals confirm contact inside the facility," the pilot’s voice crackled through the comms. "We’ve got movement near the lab sector. Hostiles engaged. Sentry’s already on-site."
You looked up sharply. "Already?"
He wasn’t supposed to engage alone.
Bucky swore under his breath, ripping the earpiece out and jamming it back in. "Why the fuck didn’t you wait for us—"
Ava spoke through the comms, her voice shivering. “He didn’t wait. I told him to stand down, and he just… went in.”
Then the ground came into view through the viewport—flames licking up from the roof of the biotech facility, smoke pluming into the sky, the perimeter in total disarray.
"Doors open in twenty seconds," the pilot called.
You shivered. You could feel it. That humming tension in your bones, the kind that only came right before everything went to hell.
He's already slipping.
"Get ready," Bucky barked, snapping his rifle into place as he stood. "Move fast, eyes sharp. We don't know how bad it is yet."
Yelena stood up, nodding once, checking her gear. You followed closely behind.
“Hostiles are still active inside,” came another voice—Walker’s, sharp and panicked over comms. “But it’s—fuck, it’s a massacre down here. I don’t know what the hell he’s doing. I can't see him. He’s not fucking responding.”
Your heart clenched.
“Bob,” you whispered, barely audible.
Then: a boom.
A section of the lower level erupted in a plume of golden-white light, fire tearing up through the concrete as the building shook from the force of it. A pulse of energy rippled outward, flattening a chunk of the south wall like paper.
The VTOL lurched slightly from the shockwave.
“Doors opening!” the pilot shouted. “Deploy, deploy—go, go!”
The ramp dropped—and the storm hit you in the face.
Rain. Smoke. Sirens. And somewhere beneath it all, a familiar hum.
You ran.
Boots pounding against the rooftop, leaping the last few feet to the access hatch. Bucky and Yelena flanked you, weapons drawn, slicing through the chaos with practiced precision.
You barely had time to adjust before Bucky grabbed your arm, spinning you toward him. His face was grim, soaked, eyes blazing.
“Go!” he shouted over the roar. “You need to find him!”
“What about—?”
“We’ll handle the rest!” he cut in, already moving, already aiming down the chaos below. “If anyone can reach him before he turns this whole goddamn place to ash—it’s you. Yelena will be right behind you. Walker and Ava are already inside. Go!”
Your breath hitched.
Then you nodded, once, sharp and sure.
And you ran—straight into the smoke, straight into the fire.
Straight toward him.
The inside of the facility was a warzone. Emergency lights flickered through thick smoke. Sparks rained from broken ceiling panels. The walls were scorched, the tile beneath your boots cracked and slick with blood and water. You passed fallen bodies—some hostiles, some just gone, disintegrated into scorched outlines and ash.
He’d been here.
You ran faster. Your breath became shorter. Your fingers twitched at your sides.
And then you saw him.
Floating.
Just inches off the ground, his body trembling with power barely held in check. His suit was torn, soaked, blood-slick. His hair clung to his forehead in damp curls. His hands hung at his sides, fingers curled in like claws.
He hand't noticed you yet. He was talking to himself, low and frantic, like he didn't even realize sound was coming out of his mouth.
“I didn’t mean to—I tried, I tried, they didn’t listen—I told them not to run—why did they run—”
Your heart clenched. You took a breath, steady and slow. Lifted your hands, palms open, non-threatening. Stepped forward, one careful step at a time.
"Bob," you whispered.
His head jerked up like a struck animal. His eyes were pitch black. Not just his pupils. Everything. You could see the Void slowly taking over control of his entire body. Crawling across his skin in veins of shadow, threading through him like poison, claiming more and more by the second. There was nothing human in his face.
Then he saw you.
You took another step forward, heart hammering against your ribs.
"Bob," you said again, softer now.
His lips parted. The black in his eyes shimmered, like something beneath it was trying to break through, trying to remember.
You took another step.
"I'm here," you said, voice steady despite the tremble in your hands. "It's me."
"GET DOWN!" a voice screamed behind you.
You barely turned in time to see the soldier—young, shaken, finger already tightening on the trigger of his rifle, aimed straight at Bob.
“No!” you shouted, throwing a hand out. “Don’t—don’t shoot him!”
But it was too late.
You whipped back toward Bob—and his hand was already rising. Not fast. Slow. Deliberate.
Eyes locked on the soldier, face blank and unreadable, voice low and distant.
“Mine.”
“Bob!” you screamed, adrenaline tearing through your veins like lightning. You rushed toward him, arm outstretched. “STOP! STOP!”
A pulse of black energy burst from his palm. It didn’t make a sound. It didn’t explode. It just erased. The soldier was there—and then he wasn’t.
No scream. No blood. Just a curling wisp of smoke, and a blackened shadow scorched into the tile where he’d stood. Like reality itself had been scrubbed clean.
Your breath caught. Your body froze.
The soldier was gone. Just like that. And Bob? He didn't move. Didn't even flinch. Just stood there, hand still raised, void energy curling around his fingers like it wanted more.
You moved before you even realized it.
You ran.
“BOB!” you screamed, voice hoarse with panic.
You slammed into him, hands flying up to grab his face—rough, desperate, grounding. Your fingers dug into his jaw, into his cheeks, trying to feel him, shake him loose from the darkness overtaking his body.
“Bob! Look at me!” you yelled, tears already slipping down your face. “Fuck—look at me, please!"
His head twitched in your grip, eyes still black, but they widened. Like he didn’t know how you got so close. Like he didn’t even recognize his own name.
“You promised,” you choked out, forehead pressed against his. “You promised you wouldn’t let this happen again. You said I could help you. You let me in. Bob, please, I know you can hear me. Let me in. Let me help you."
And then—
He blinked.
Once.
Twice.
The black void in his eyes gone, replaced by fear. Replaced by gut-wrenching guilt.
And suddenly his hands were on you—gripping your arms, trembling hard. Holding you like you were the only thing keeping him from flying apart.
“I didn’t mean to,” he rasped, voice splintering in his throat. “I just… he—he pointed that gun at you. I—”
His knees buckled.
You caught him.
“I didn’t mean to,” he rasped again, clinging like he didn’t even realize he was doing it. “I didn’t—fuck, I didn’t mean to—”
“I know,” you whispered, trying to keep your voice steady, fingers stroking through his hair, down his back. “I know, it’s okay. You’re okay—I got you. I'm right here."
You could feel it under your hands—the tension building again. The static crawling across his skin. He was shaking harder now, like he was trying to hold himself together with bare hands and sheer will, and it wasn’t enough. It was never enough.
“I told them,” he growled, voice rising, wild and hoarse. “I told them not to send me. I told them—I told them!”
“Bob,” you tried again, your hands cradling his face, trying to ground him. “Stop—just breathe, okay? Look at me. Just look at me. It’s over. You’re okay. I’m here.”
“Bob—”
“Holy shit,” someone gasped.
You turned. Too fast. The team stood there. Yelena’s eyes were wide. Ava’s mouth hung open. Alexei looked stunned. Bucky was frozen mid-step.
And Walker? Walker’s gaze went straight to the scorched mark on the floor, and his lip curled.
“What the fuck did he do?”
That was it.
You snapped.
“You were supposed to look out for him!” you roared, your voice echoing down the hall like a whipcrack. “You knew he wasn’t ready! You knew, and you left him in there anyway—what the fuck were you thinking?!”
“Don’t yell at me because your little pet project finally snapped—”
You stepped toward him so fast Yelena actually reached out to stop you.
“Say that again, Walker.” you dared, low and deadly. “Say it. Fucking say it again.”
“Guys—” Ava started.
“Oh my god,” Yelena whispered behind you.
And that’s when you realized—Bob wasn’t in your arms anymore.
You turned, panic already in your throat. He was standing a few feet away, eyes locked on the floor, fists clenched. His shoulders were shaking, his jaw tight, like he was about to split open.
The way they were all looking at him. Like he was a monster.
And he saw it. He saw everything.
“No, no, wait—” you started.
But he was already moving. He shoved past you, not roughly—never roughly—but like he couldn’t stand to be touched anymore. Like he didn’t deserve it. And then he ran.
You didn’t hesitate.
You ran after him.
You found him down a back alley, drenched in rain, his back pressed to the wall like it was the only thing keeping him upright. His fists were clenched, jaw tight, chest heaving like he couldn’t catch his breath. He hadn’t looked at you yet, but you could see it—how close he was to falling apart, how the power still surged beneath his skin, barely contained. His body shook with it, with guilt, with the kind of rage that didn’t know where to go.
You took a step closer and he shifted like he was going to bolt again, eyes flicking to the shadows like he could vanish into them.
You grabbed his wrist. Tight. “Don’t run.”
That stopped him. His breath hitched, but he didn’t turn.
“Bob,” you said, softer now, over the pounding rain. “Please. Look at me.”
He turned slowly—and god, the look on his face broke you wide open. Soaked, shattered, eyes full of guilt and too many unsaid things. He looked like he didn’t believe he deserved to stand in front of you. Like just being seen by you hurt.
Then he kissed you.
Hard. Desperate.
Like he needed your mouth to remind him he was still real.
The kiss came out of nowhere. Teeth. Tongue. Desperation. You collided like two storms, all sharp edges and soaked skin. His mouth crushed yours, messy, uncoordinated, bruising. You dragged your hands through his rain-slick hair, pulled him closer until your bodies slammed together. He groaned your name like it hurt to say it, like it ripped something open inside him just to speak it.
You kissed him back with everything you had, dragging your fingers through his soaked curls, pulling him closer, crushing your lips to his until your teeth clacked and your breath fogged the air between you. He whimpered into it, raw and broken, hands clutching your waist through your suit like he didn’t know where to touch, like he needed to touch everywhere.
“I’m sorry,” he gasped against your lips, voice already hoarse. “I’m so fucking sorry—please, I didn’t mean to—I didn’t—” His words cut off with a sob. You shushed him with another kiss, slower this time, lips brushing his like a promise.
“I need you,” he breathed, voice broken. “God—I need you, I need you so bad—I can’t—fuck—don’t let go—please, don’t let go—”
Your gear hit the wall behind you, water slapping between you like applause. His mouth was on your throat, biting, sucking, moaning, as your hands worked beneath his already ripped suit, shoving it aside, frantic to get to skin. His hips rocked into yours like he couldn’t stand being apart from you even for a second.
“Please,” he groaned again, breath hot against your ear. “I’ll do anything. Anything. Just—fuck—just let me have you.”
You gasped, arching against him, letting him press you tighter to the bricks. You were already soaked—skin flushed, thighs shaking—and the way he clung to you like you were the only real thing left in his world snapped something open inside you.
You grabbed his face, kissed him hard, desperate. “Take it,” you whispered, voice shaking. “Take anything. Everything. I’m all yours, Bob.”
He whimpered—actually whimpered—and that was it.
Your suit came undone in ragged pieces, his hands tearing at fastenings with trembling fingers, your legs wrapping around his waist as he shoved your soaked underwear aside. His fingers dug into your hips hard enough to leave bruises, grinding his cock against your slick center until you cried out, nails raking down his back.
“Fuck—fuck, you’re so wet,” he gasped. “You want it, don’t you? You want me to lose it for you—inside you—?”
“Yes,” you sobbed, tilting your head back as he pushed in. “Yes, yes—please—”
He thrust into you in one deep, brutal stroke and you screamed, fingers clawing at his soaked suit, legs tightening around his hips. He was so deep, so hot, so real, and the way he fucked you—fast, rough, relentless—was like he didn’t know if he’d survive without this. Without you.
Every thrust hit something raw, something needy, his voice ragged against your ear. “You’re mine—you’re mine, say it—fuck, say it—”
“I’m yours,” you cried, body shaking. “I’m yours, Bob—fuck, don’t stop, don’t stop—”
He sobbed against your throat, thrusting harder, faster, panting between curses and broken prayers. “You’re perfect—so perfect—god, you feel so good—you make everything quiet. You make it all fucking stop—”
And when you came, it hit like a shockwave—your whole body convulsing around him, mouth open in a wordless scream as he slammed into you, burying himself deep and coming hard, spilling inside you with a desperate cry of your name like it was the only thing anchoring him to this plane.
He held you afterward like he might never let go, still shaking, still breathing like he’d run through hell. His forehead pressed to yours, voice wrecked.
“Don’t leave me,” he whispered. “Please don’t ever leave me.”
“I’m not going anywhere,” you whispered back, and this time, it was a vow.
His breathing was ragged.
Shallow gasps against your neck, chest rising and falling like he was still trying to outrun something only he could see. The rain hadn’t let up. It fell in heavy sheets around you, but neither of you moved. You stayed wrapped around him, trembling, your back against the soaked alley wall, his body still buried in yours, shaking with the aftershocks.
He didn’t speak.
Didn’t even lift his head.
His arms stayed locked around your waist like a vise, like if he let go even a little, you’d disappear. You felt him swallow, once, twice—and then his shoulders began to shake in a different way.
“Bob?” you whispered, hand sliding up to the back of his head, fingers weaving through his soaked hair. “Hey. Hey, I’m here.”
He sobbed.
Quiet at first. Just a ragged breath that stuttered out of him like it had been waiting for too long. Then another. And another. His whole body trembled, forehead pressed to your shoulder as he finally—finally—let himself fall apart.
“I didn’t want to hurt anyone,” he choked out. “I tried—I tried so fucking hard—I just wanted to be useful, I wanted to help—and I killed him—”
You shushed him softly, rocking him gently where you stood, your hands stroking down his back.
“You came back to me,” you said, voice low. “That’s all that matters. You came back.”
“I don’t deserve this,” he rasped, holding you tighter. “I don’t deserve you.”
“Shut up,” you whispered, tears mixing with the rain on your cheeks. “You do. You do. You’re still here. You’re still you. That’s all I care about.”
You stayed like that for what felt like forever—him wrapped around you like a lifeline, your bodies still locked together, breathing in sync. The heat between you slowly cooled, but the weight of it all stayed heavy, real.
Eventually, his head lifted, eyes red-rimmed, cheeks wet.
He looked at you like he didn’t believe you were real. Like maybe you were the only thing left in the world that hadn’t abandoned him.
“I’m scared,” he whispered.
You cupped his face, thumb brushing over the scar just below his eye.
“I know,” you said. “But I’ve got you.”
And he leaned into your hand like a man starved for touch.
Back at the tower, everything was chaos—shouting, agents scrambling to do damage control, the team fighting with each other, trying to put the blame on someone—but none of it touched you. Not when you had him. Not when he never once let go of your hand.
You didn't go to the infirmary. Didn't sit through the debrief. Bucky tried to say something, but you just shook your head. Bob didn't even look at him. At no one.
You led him straight to your room.
The second the door clicked shut behind you, his body sagged like the air had left him entirely. You helped him out of the rest of his suit, piece by piece, your fingers gentle even when your heart still ached from the weight of it all. He did the same for you, so soft, so gentle, like he was afraid to hurt you.
You pulled him into your bed without a word.
He followed like he always did. Like he couldn’t not.
He wrapped around you the way he always did—legs tangled, arms tight around your waist, face buried against your neck. But this time it wasn’t just comfort.
It was clinging.
He didn’t speak. Didn’t ask. Just held on.
You stroked his hair, tracing slow patterns into his scalp, letting your breath match his until he calmed, until that tremble in his shoulders finally stilled.
But he still didn’t sleep.
You felt him shift closer, nose brushing your collarbone. His voice, when it came, was wrecked and so, so quiet.
“Do you think they’ll ever look at me the same?” he asked, voice barely more than a breath.
You didn’t answer right away. You could feel how tightly he was holding his breath, like he was bracing for the worst. You pulled him closer, your fingers threading through the back of his hair, your lips brushing against his forehead.
“It’s not your fault,” you whispered. “They know it. Even if they won’t say it out loud. This—what happened—you didn’t want this. And they know that.”
He didn’t reply, not at first. But you felt it—the way his chest stuttered, how he finally let himself breathe.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered, broken.
“I know.”
“I was so close,” he said, voice cracking like glass. “I could feel it. Like I was right there. One more second and I wouldn’t have come back.”
“But you did,” you murmured, pressing your forehead to his. “You came back to me.”
He shuddered, breath hitching again as he buried his face in the crook of your neck. Leaving a soft kiss that made your heart clench. “You’re the only one that brings me back,” he whispered. “The only one.”
You didn’t say anything else.
You just held him tighter.
And finally—finally—he started to drift.
It wasn’t peaceful. He twitched. Mumbled things you couldn’t make out. Flinched like his dreams were still trying to drag him under.
But he didn’t wake.
Because you were still there.
And he knew it.
