The old guard got me thinking about immortal Bennett witches.
In alternate universe where Qetsiyah takes the Immortality herself and becomes immortal. The Immortality spell had unforseen affects namely that at different points in time a descendant of hers would become immortal themselves. Qetsiyah would just start collecting her immortal descendants and travel with them.

I’ve had this edit saved for over a year now. I am not the original creator and I believe they got their account deleted as a disclaimer.
I love everything about this edit. It is so honorable to Bonnie and the Bennett’s. It depicts a different storyline than what we were given with them. I wish they were given a bigger forefront than some other character’s families. This is the superior witch bloodline to me, they are the creators and the blueprints! This is a matriarchal line of black and brown women how amazing is that?!
Julie could not relate to Bonnie which applies to her “struggles” (racism)writing her and her bloodline. If a fan can make an edit like this then there is no excuse why a writer couldn’t uplift Bonnie and her relatives. The Bennett’s are still the superior bloodline to me.

I hope this doesn’t sound weird, but I was wondering if a certain fantasy of mine would be kind of odd because I imagine this one dark skinned black actress as one of Bonnie’s relatives or ancestors, but most of the Bennett family that we’ve seen are light skinned black folk, so it might seem out out of place???? I don’t know if that makes sense.
But I think Tika Sumpter, who played Raina Thorpe in Gossip Girl (if you’ve watched that) would be an excellent Bennett. If not a Bennett, I just think she’d be a cool black witch or supernatural. She’s also in the Sonic movies.
Nothing weird at all about imagining more darkskin black women as Bonnie’s ancestors or relatives period! There should’ve been more darker or darkskin Bennett women. The Witch of the Five and Ayana were darker but those are the only two examples. Racism does include featurism, texturism and colorism.
My friends and I have had similar conversations about how it seemed like when it was time to cast for Bonnie’s relatives or any black character that would show up longer than an episode they held up a photo of Kat to match her complexion (besides a few people!) and that was that.
To take this a step further you can tell some black actors (Jasmine Guy, Persia White, Cynthia Addai-Robinson (Abby’s friend the witch who tried to kill Bonnie) and Tristin Mays/Sarah Salvatore,) and even Christina Moses from TO/some other black women from there had control over their hair in ways Kat Graham didn’t.
There’s so many levels to the writers racism. Never a one-thing.

I love Tika Sumpter and Raina Thorpe was the better option for Nate while we on that subject! I love gossip girl. I’ve headcanoned Anna Diop as the daughter of the Witch of the five or even Ayana before just to name a darkskin woman actress.

Not sure if you watched the gossip girl reboot (I understand if you didn’t) but this is a good time to mention a headcanon I had. Rick Worthy played Grayson De Haan / Monet’s father who is very wealthy in the pharmaceutical business. Rudy’s job pre-mayor was a pharmaceutical rep. I’m inclined to believe Rudy was living a double life on our girl.

Savannah was far too young to be on TVD as a teenager but I do secretly love Bonnie getting a sisterhood. Kat and Savannah are both gorgeous and share some features. Unfortunately, do share industry experiences.
Anyway, sorry for the rambling you aren’t weird.

Theory that Ayana and the spirits did not save Henrik because his birth was the result of dark magic (Esther's deal with Dahlia to have children)
Ayana specifically says "The spirits will not give us a way", not that she or they couldn't bring him back.

sometimes i just think about bonnie bennett
and how she was never intended to be black. her equivalent character in the vampire diaries novels is white and the only reason she’s black is that the producers of tvd told julie plec that she couldn’t have an all white cast. yet bonnie bennett is the embodiment of the magical negro trope, she’s probably one of the best examples of it in 21st century television. and it just makes me wonder what bonnie bennett would be like if she got the storyline julie plec would have given her had she been white. both joseph morgan and ian somerhalder argued for bonnie to get a romance plot with their characters. i personally would have liked a subplot of kol teaching bonnie magic in tvd season 3 and 4 perhaps with a romantic plot within it. but the symbolism of kol who was taught magic by ayana being the first person who teach bonnie since her grams died and teaching her all these ancient bennett spells from his childhood is something that i think just made so much sense for both their characters.
sometimes i just think about bonnie bennett and who she would be without julie plec’s racism.
oh and this is everyone’s reminder that stefan and damon had nothing to do with the confederacy in the vampire diaries novels they were just 500 year old dudes from italy. the whole mystic falls confederacy lore is entirely of julie plec’s own making.

Damon was incredibly protective and loving of Bonnie and ended up being her soulmate in the books, and the tvd writers thought “Hm, let’s make him a complete asshole to her throughout the entire show and hurt her at every given opportunity.” They took one look at how Stefan and Bonnie’s friendship was progressing throughout S1-S2 and decided to completely retcon it and started having him disregard her the same way everyone else did. You see, none of the main male characters were allowed to have actual meaningful connections with her because god forbid Bonnie be considered a potential love interest for them and not their self inserts. Damon can’t even tell Bonnie he loves her without them making sure to include “The same way Elena loved you.”
It’s the same reason why they didn’t have Bonnie attend the Mikaelson ball even though her being there made more sense than Matt or Caroline attending since the literal hostess was going to be siphoning her bloodline’s magic. She couldn’t be seen dressed up in a pretty gown like the other girls and dance with any of the male characters because again, god forbid Bonnie be held in the same regard as the other girls and ever thought of as a potential love interest for anyone besides throw away characters. It’s the same with Bonnie not interacting with any of the Mikaelson’s outside of her protecting the MFG from them. There are numerous connections between the Mikaelson’s and the Bennetts. Ayana Bennett was Esther’s mentor and seemed to be incredibly close to all her children. Abby desiccated Mikael, Esther wanted to use the Bennett Bloodline. Yet, not once are these connections explored. These could have potentially been some of the best storylines in the show, but that would have required the writers to not be prejudice and have biases towards certain characters.
But all this begs the question…if you’re going to make a character black or a poc so you can meet the diversity requirements, yet still neglect their character and use them as nothing but a shield to your white characters, then what is the point? Because I have no doubt that if they kept Bonnie’s race the same, she would have gotten the same opportunities as the other girls and wouldn’t be seen as just a mule. She would have still been poorly written, not debating that, but she would have been treated entirely differently by the writers and the fans.
#bonnie bennett#the vampire diaries#anti the vampire diaries#anti tvd#anti julie plec#anti caroline dries#The Mikaelsons and Bennetts were connected through various of ways#Also you would think they’d constantly interacted with the descendant of the person that cared for them as children#Instead we get a lackluster ship that sprung out of nowhere bc the writers catered to fan service too much instead of focusing on actual#chemistry and good writing#rant of the day

Jo having little interactions with Bonnie (and the little interactions they did have were about other people) is very on brand for TVD.
Mikaelsons literally were turned into vampires thanks to their mother using spells (watered down Qetsiyah’s immortality spell) and having mentorship (Ayana) from Bonnie’s ancestors. Yet Esther or none of the Mikaelson’s showed interest in Bonnie? None of them wanted to seduce her and get her on their side? Esther didn’t want to invite Abby and Bonnie to the ball when she was literally going to need them later? It’s just unrealistic that Klaus, Kol, and Elijah didn’t want to have their own witch on their side and steal her away from the MFG. I would say Finn but he was working with his mother. It doesn’t make sense Rebekah wouldn’t want to be besties with Bonnie and try to break her “friendship” with Elena. Especially since Rebekah hated Elena so much.
Qetsiyah in season 5 didn’t even acknowledge Bonnie. And the one convo they have, Qetsiyah was so smug about her being the new anchor and feeling pain. Like where is the connection? Where are the convos about their family history?
So of course Jo is going to be besties with Elena before she bonds with Bonnie. Why write things that make logical sense on this show when we can have Bonnie on the back burner and give all her storylines to white characters?
What made all this worse is Elena wasn't even the main character delena was and they pushed her into everything for nothing bonnie always got used to set up a storyline then as soon it got attention they would push Elena or care into it then destroy it out of spite bonnie was their most powerful character and they avoided any long-term growth or connection with anything that was getting any popularity for her the show sucked because they didn't get the picture everyone was over the delena and Caroline show

Bonnie and Rebekah
TVD writers not giving us Bonnie and Rebekah moments when they tried to make Rebekah friends with Elena and Caroline at different points is so irritating. Especially when they made it known that Elena and Caroline didn’t like Rebekah. They even gave her a love storyline with Matt but couldn’t give us bonbekah moments when Esther and Ayana were best friends. 😑
• Rebekah giving Bonnie flashback stories of her time with Ayana while they bonded overtime was very much needed; But we got boring frenemy moments between Elena and Rebekah or Rebekah and Caroline instead when we could have gotten something authentic with Bonbekah.
• And I don’t wanna hear that “Bonnie would never or why would Bonnie wanna be around a Mikealson” bs bc the same could be said for the other girls and Matt. So why try to single out Bonnie? Bonnie had no reason to dislike Rebekah but it’s just assumed she did bc Rebekah’s a mikealson. Rebekah had no reason to dislike Bonnie either and it was never stated how they felt about each other so to assume that they would just automatically hate each other bc all the drama around them is foolish.

You know, if Julie Plec wasn't an ass, it would have been more obvious that not only that the Lockwoods were important but essential to the town.
((First off, I did some serious research into finding out, or realistically name-dropping, who the unnamed Native Americans that lived alongside Ansel's pack and the village the Mikaelsons lived in (before it was officially Mystic Falls) and low-and-behold, my research led me to my answer: The Monacan Tribe. With thankful help from TVD Wiki establishing its location on a real-life map, the place where the fictional town would be is called Damon, an unincorporated community in Albemarle County, Virginia. And you know what, The Monacan tribe inhabited the Piedmont region of Virginia, particularly west of the fall line of the James River. So by 1000 A.D., while the tribe's presence in that broader region is well-established, they could've been in the vicinity of many present-day locations, including Damon. So establishing that the Monacans were the natives the siblings grew up with and likely had dealings with Ansel's pack, this also means they were the ones who secured the acorn from the parent tree the Mikaelsons destroyed and planted it somewhere safe.))
Now back to the Lockwoods...
Now after all hell broke loose, we got a pack of dead werewolves, Ayana - Bonnie's ancestor - had Esther's coffin, Monacan tribesmen that clearly knew more than expected, and villagers that more or less survived the first vampires. So who would take up the land and share the space - if not another pack of werewolves (pack or family in a separate tribe tbd). But yes, this new group comes in and basically gets filled in on what happened. This leads to the Apisi bloodline knowing about the caves and tunnels, the story of the Originals (with mutual help of the Monacans) secret survival of a second White Ash Tree. What I can't disclose is whether Ayana put Esther's coffin in that cave before or after the Apisi's bloodline arrived in the village.
In the 1800s, when Mystic Falls was a settlement, they eventually became the Lockwood Family (and I really wish we knew how that happened). By then, The first Lockwood Estate was build and the cellars became an entrance to the caves. Jacob Lockwood became one of the first mayors - which his family would continue doing until Carol Lockwood died in 2010. Benjamin Lockwood was mayor in 1864 and his son, George, triggered his werewolf curse while serving as a Confederate soldier during the Civil War (and here's something, George was apparently the first one in the Lockwood Family to discover his bloodline curse and except for keeping the moonstone safe in return for secrecy but never to disclose anything about the curse until his descendants, Mason Lockwood and his nephew, Tyler, were tricked into triggering their curses by Katherine - whom discovered George's curse to begin with). But the fact he was the first means that the Apisi/Lockwood line eventually either learned to avoid triggering the curse or they got incredibly lucky for the large gap in time there was a werewolf until George.
Next, but is kinda obvious - Mystic Falls High School, which given we have no idea when it opened, the fact that it's mascot Timberwolves, despite the fact the last grey wolves were killed off in 1900 and haven't been in Virginia since and coyotes moved into their territory (so a better option for a school mascot) implies subtle awareness or association with the werewolf curse.
And last but not least, it turns out the Lockwoods had been holding a piece of the Hollow's bones (the evil spirit witch that created the werewolf curse in the first place).
So basically, despite vampires and witches ending up more affiliated with the town, it's kinda amazing and heartbreaking to know there's open evidence of werewolf affirmation yet the family responsible had gone extinct by 2017.

Kind of want Elena and Katherine to be like Courtney and Cindy from stargirl cw where it was just on sight for those two.
S2 starts and Katherine tries to kill Elena. Elena's on death's doors and one of the Brothers feed her their blood and she doesn't die that time. Katherine tries to kill Elena a second and succeeds. Elena turns into a vampire and the story goes on from there. But I just need Katherine and Elena to start boxing whenever they see eachother.
#As for Klaus. Let's go with Ayana being the one who bound Klaus's werewolf side. balance of nature and whatever.#So Klaus has just been looking for Bennett witches to break his curse.#Elena gilbert#Katherine pierce#tvd

How would the past change if Bonnie went back in time to when The Originals were human?
I think Bonnie would be under Ayana’s wing and care. She yearns for a motherly figure and close bond with family. In the past timeline she’s not missing out on an opportunity to be closer to another Bennett witch. Being under Ayana’s wing does come with the close bond of the Mikaelsons.
Bonnie and Rebekah would be thick as thieves. Rebekah longs for companionship and Bonnie longs for a family of her own. Rebekah comes with this large family and they are full of chaos. Bonnie would try to keep her distance but Rebekah would keep insisting that Bonnie come with her to dinner with the Mikaelsons or hanging out with her siblings.

While the Mikaelson brothers are wrestling as they do in Viking society, Klaus would be off on his own. This is where he would catch Bonnie's eye. He'd be watching his siblings with a mixture of jealousy and wishfulness. There's a self-hatred that he would carry for being weak (the result of Esther suppressing his wolf) and a desire to prove himself. Bonnie would know she wouldn't be able to change anything in the past but she would take this opportunity to learn about her future enemies. You know what they say. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. If Bonnie falls in love with a human Klaus and plans to marry him before they start a family of their own in the past, she's up for a rude awakening upon returning to the present.

My headcanon on why Kol was so spooked by Silas:
Ayana told him all about what the women in her family did to men who crossed them (all he did was try to sneak a peek at her grimoire, okay?) Then his mom goes and steals that terrifying immortality spell, botches it beyond belief, and Kol sees firsthand how that turned out. So if that’s the outcome of a messed-up version, who knows what horrors the actual spell created.

Do you know what I despise about The Originals?
When the writers have the Mikaelsons be the most powerful witch bloodline when Esther was taught everything there is to know about magic by Ayanna a BENNETT WITCH. Esther went to Ayanna to turn her husband and children into vampires because Ayanna was far more experienced than her, but Ayanna refused, so Esther was forced to do the spell herself and probably had difficulties casting it. The spell probably took her days or even weeks to complete, while it probably would have taken Ayanna a night. Esther needed the help of Bonnie and her mother to kill her children, descendants of her mentor. She praised Bonnie for almost killing Klaus, which she stated was impressive. In TVD Bennett witches are the most powerful witch bloodline. Bennett witches have practically created supernatural creatures because Qetsiyah created the world's first immortals, which led to Esther getting the idea to turn her children and husband into the world's first vampires. So the TO writers really want me to believe that the Mikaelsons are the most powerful witch bloodline? First of all, Dahlia, Esther, Freya, and Hope aren't Mikaelson witches. They're Hagen witches. Dahlia was Mikael's sister-in-law, not his blood relative. She was Esther's sister, and their last names were Hagen. So, the women would be Hagen witches. Second, the TO writers want us to believe that the Hagen witches (I'm not calling them Mikaelson witches because they aren't Mikaelson witches. Mikael was an ordinary human before becoming a vampire) are the most powerful because Esther created vampires? Okay, but Qetisyah created immortality, a Bennett witch created The Five, Emily created daylight jewelry and the Gilbert rings, Bonnie literally stopped hellfire. They're powerful, how??? Also, Hope shouldn't even be that powerful at as young as 7. Come on, TO writers. She's 1/4 witch. The TO writers made her so powerful because she was the tribrid, but being part vampire and werewolf shouldn't make her magic so powerful. Especially since she was raised by Hayley for 5 years and her mother was a vampire-werewolf hybrid. Where did she get all that power??? LOL. This is why Hope Mikaelson shouldn't have existed. The first born Mikaelson witch crap was pulled out of the TO writer's ass because that didn't make any sense. I would have believed Hope was that powerful if her mother had been Bonnie. Bonnie is part of an extremely powerful bloodline, so Hope being so powerful at 7 years old would have made a lot more sense.
That's the power of white witches in tvdu! They get to love their magic, have their empowered moments and yet we have Bonnie be physically in pain whenever she casts a spell and etc.
I don't get why people say Esther is one of the most powerful witches: she isn't, she has never been and she'll never be. She had to go to Dahlia for a simple fertility spell that she wasn't able to do, she learned everything she knew thanks to Ayana and if I remember correctly, she was always channeling covens or witches. And don't even get me started on her being the "original witch", as if Esther had been the first witch to ever walk the earth. That title belonged to Qetsiyah if anything.
Though it's important to know that Dahlia actually doesn't have a last name, I don't blame you for calling her Hagen but that's her fanon surname, one made by TikTok and they're constantly changing it, but I do agree. The whole Mikael Mikaelson thing was done badly too, that's not how viking surnames work and they screwed up badly with naming Rebekah and Freya "Mikaelson", it should've been Mikaelsdottir but let's ignore this little ramble of mine and continue.
The Bennett bloodline was done badly, that's a fact. They're the creators of everything and yet they were used and discarded in an awful way. We're supposed to buy Esther is this amazing witch for creating vampires (by stealing someone's spell, mind you) when her modified spell had awful errors. The Mikaelson aren't even that powerful when it comes to magic; if Esther was that amazing at witchcraft, Kol and Freya wouldn't have been the only ones to inherit her magic.
Don't even get me started with Hope. Her character has been a plothole since the very first moment no matter how much the writers twist it, and it's very clear she only existed in the first place because she's the Renesmee of Tvdu (the Malivore plot was thought of way later, so don't bring that up) and I completely agree, she shouldn't have been that powerful. Klaus doesn't come from a strong witch bloodline and neither does Hayley, I understand they both descended from the original packs of werewolves but that only means Hope would have been feral and overpowered once she unlocked her werewolf curse, something that didn't happen.
If they wanted Hope to be so powerful just by being the tribrid, then Bonnie should have been her mother without a doubt. She's one of the most powerful witches in tvdu, she unlike Hope has a strong witch bloodline and it is what would have made the most sense plot-wise.
But we all know what the writers think about black women and having an important role in the series.

Bonnie and the Bennett’s are so essential to everything. I’ll never understand hating Bonnie or anyone from her bloodline seriously because without them tell me what is the plot….quickly! The writers couldn’t handle a powerful matriarchal bloodline of strong black and brown women.
The Mikaelson’s (who I do like…depending on who it is…) spent a thousand years on earth and none of them created anything substantial outside of more vampires and enemies. Yet it’s their family or Silas or whomever that gets credited for the creation of things in the TVDU.
