it do be like that sometimes.
Using this as an excuse to link the posts where i did manage to ramble about Oc.
The small Meta ramble, Meet Blorbo bleebus.
The Big Ash ramble that was going to be alot bigger but i lost like a couple hundred words and it hurt my soul a bit and so I didn't expand much on what i had and didn't even get to Enta.
I should really do a post that explains ghouls, and their society, and history and language and biology from the ground up because uhhhhhhh very little of it is same as cannon...... I have unfinished spreadsheets of a little baby conlang that has since been abandoned cause it's trash, and has very similar grammar to japanese, and at this point I'd need to learn Japanese to write the conlang. I was also adding additional Kanji readings and uhhh, no, we don't need that. I tryied to fix the kanji reading at one point and make it so each radical had its own sound so you can just read all the radicals in a particular order and that's the word...... And no. Don't. just. no. That was an awful idea. I don't know why i got so cocky and thought i could fix the mess that is kanji. Not to mention the kanji in Pizanshi (棺Izan, meaning ghoul, and 語 shi, meaning language (ya know, like every other language that uses this character), the 'P' just appears in the word for the language for no fucking reason dw) largely retained the same meaning as in Japanese (and probably other languages that use those Chinese characters). And like, why would a ghoul language have that??? Especially if the language arises from a need for secrecy??? The chinese characters best strength is that multiple different languages can understand each other to some degree through writing. If you don't want to be understood... You would not be fucking using it!! Aweful. I don't know what I was doing.
This turned into a rant about why you should add a bit of thought into your conlang and not write the thing in a mad frenzy in one night.
i want to talk about my ocs but im literally this image. i got nothing

Peacemaker from Wings of Fire and Caspian from Pantheon are like the same guy. I should probably explain this.
So the first, these two have a very similar origin point.
Stephan Holstrom - Hi I am a super genius with a big ego and daddy issues, lets cure death, war, make a paradise, i only want your brain.
Darkstalker - Hi I am a super genius with a big ego and daddy issues, lets cure death, war, make a paradise, i only want your brain.
Caspian exists because Stephan wants to live forever, and so he makes a clone so that when if/when he dies the clone can be raised and eventually work on the same problem of how to live forever. And Peacemaker exist because Darkstalker wanted to live forever and did that, and so the only way to stop him was to press factory rest + add some rainwing, apparently....
(because peacemaker is still a very smol dragonet and we haven't seen much of him some of this is speculative)
Both of these characters grew up/will grow up with their whole lives being a lie. Both Caspian and Peacemaker have their whole lives predicted, and any sign of them not following their life plan that has already been decided will stress out the people closest to them who know their secret origins.
This is why i like the idea of Peacemaker growing out of liking strawberries, like how's moon and hope gonna feel about that. Are the 'what if Darkstalker comes back' voices getting louder here or..
According to the visions this is supposed to be his defining trait, if he grows in any way away from that it brings up questions on how effective the spell is, and therefore how effective darkstalker is being trapped right now, and could he come back.
For Caspian they want him to become Stephan Holstrom, and deviation is terrifying because they want him to be a perfect replica. Additionally the way he ends up straying is basically ending up doing research on the immortality project Stephan founded. If he keeps trying to dig up information, he might find out he's a clone, and that could be very bad.
These characters are versions of people who have had a big impact on the world, they're going to work it out, and when they do they're going to have a lot of questions for the people who lied to them.
Peacemaker will grow up knowing Darkstalker as a big scary monster, if he asks questions about Darkstalker to Moon or Hope, and they try to shut him down he will notice. If he ever finds out that the Jade winglet is the one that took him down but nobody knows how. If he asks questions about animus magic, Darkstalker, his mother's life, maybe how royal succession works. If he says something like "Has there ever been a King?" "Is animus magic really gone/Animus magic sounds incredible, the world could be so much better with a few enchantments..." Relatively normal questions or thoughts (just even thinking these things might send Moon into a spiral), you think he won't notice how others react to that. A few of these dragons remember the moment they were born, Peacemaker pops into existence already a year old (I'm pretty sure, I'll check that), that's a bit of a weird memory isn't it?
The difference between these two is, no one wants darkstalker back (or at least not the people he cares about want Darkstalker back).
Stephan has a cult that adores him and wants to live forever with him
Caspian, knowing his origins, is now able to see the cults 'true' affection for him, he is rewarded for taking up the position of Steven and has to learn and realise for himself why Stephan was a bad guy actually.
Peacemaker knowing his origins, with Darkstalker being everyone's nightmare, has to make sense of how he could be Darkstalker. He'll need to learn about the good aspects of him, and how power corrupts.
Both of these stories are like: Sins of the father, sure. But what about clones?
(Well peacemaker isn't really a clone but like...)

Mine is a short triangle shaped dragon with 4 nostrils and 3 small eyes. put it out of its misery.
WHEEL YOURSELF A DRAGON!
First take this classic dragon shape
Tumblr media
Second, take this wheel and spin it 5, 7, or 10 times to modify the dragon!
Lastly, bask in your wonderful new child I ended up with a basilisk looking creature after spinning 7 times

As she hasn't seen the world like Matheli and Jia did, the two decided to start taking Matheli's newest partner, Luna, on little trips around the world - the first one being a trip to the Azim Steppe.

in canon Ruyan retires from being the warrior of light after endwalker and everything beyond that happens outside of her, and she spends the rest of her time living in a quiet life with her husband haurchefant and raising their children, of which she has three of them; one, hildegarde, is a surrogate child, while the other two are biologically hers.
Ruyan lives to the age of 65, and is survived by her husband and three children. Her husband doesnt pass away until 10 years after her, and chose to never seek out another relationship or remarry. The story goes that the day his husband passed away, he had gotten up from his bed without the assistance of his wheelchair and attempted to dress himself, and when asked what the occassion was, responded that his wife was ''coming home to get him'', and that he wanted to look nice for the occassion. Hildegarde, their oldest child, was the one to put him back to bed, where he passed in his sleep not even an hour later.

FFXIV Swap Poem Thingy
I had the honour of being matched with the very marvellous @paintedscales for the FFXIV Swap. I really enjoyed learning about Nomin and her backstory and it's given me the opportunity to do a lot of background reading on Xaela lore and the history of the Azim Steppe. Definitely worth reading Nomin's Carrd if you want more detail on the events described below.
However I was a bit worried that a poem might not be as exciting as some of the beautiful artwork created by others for this project, so I took the liberty of commissioning a custom character banner for Nomin as a little extra.
Anyway Poetry Time (mostly under the cut as it's quite long).

The Nameless Child.
The nameless child, left by design,
Bound tight with rope to sacred pine,
As tribal customs did dictate,
But was resolved to change her fate,
And once she had her bonds untwined,
She chose to leave her tribe behind,
From that day forth, without regret,
She was no longer a Tumet.
Having swiftly named herself,
Quietly and with practiced stealth,
She made her way across the plains,
To the lone town the Steppe contains,
Where, seeing one so young exiled,
They grudgingly took in the child,
Gave her food and clothes withal,
And raised her as a young Saghal.
The traditions of this peaceful tribe,
Among many other things proscribe,
The killing or the subjugation,
Of beasts with whom they share creation,
And thus, bitter irony indeed,
The adherents of this gentle creed,
Were enslaved, or left for dead,
Their lives destroyed by the Jhungid.
Having beheld her brother slain,
She had to work quite hard to feign,
Any form of acquiescence,
As she grew through her adolescence,
Under the watchful, callous, eyes,
Of custodians who she despised,
So she knew exactly what to do,
When battle dawned with the Kharlu.
As each tribe faced the other’s host,
In battle for the Eastern coast,
She drew the arrow in her bow -
And turned her back upon the foe,
Without pause, without remorse,
She shot her leader from his horse,
Before riding back to burn their yurts,
Administering their just deserts.
Having freed her former tribe,
She knew that she must circumscribe,
Her kinship with them all thenceforth,
To keep them safe, so journeyed North,
And West across the Steppe alone,
In search of tribes as yet unknown,
And, from spending time with each,
She’d learn all that they had to teach.
Whether across a glacier,
Travelling with the Angura,
Or racing upon an Oroq Sled,
She absorbs all that they’ve done and said,
And be it Himaa, Gharl or Mol,
Each colour's blended in her soul,
And every one that she recalls,
Is carried forth in her footfalls.

(For those that are interested in such things I opted for rhyming couplets as the nearest form I could find to traditional Mongolian Epic Poetry (known as tuuli). There are six variations of narrative in these epics, and (extremely loosely) I opted for The Mythicised Epic, where the hero fights to restore order, as the basis for Nomin's tale. The most famous version of this narrative in Mongolian Folklore is the Epic of King Gesar, but there are lots of other ones. Definitely worth learning about if you enjoy cultural history.)
Many thanks to @paintedscales for their patience in waiting for me to pull my finger out and finish this - and also for helping me with the pronunciation of the various Xaela tribes with which Nomin has been associated. Needless to say, until this assistance, I was apparently getting most of them very wrong (aside from the Mol - I could manage that one!)
I hope you enjoy my silly poem and the nice Custom Banner!
