the CATFA part of Flood is much, much closer to TBOSAS (film) (up through the Games, not afterwards) than the Avengers/CATWS part is to Catching Fire, which makes me happy because it activates the part of my brain that likes fitting puzzle pieces together to figure out where the two stories align and which elements from both CATFA(/AC) and TBOSAS can be moved around, kept as-are, or need to be dropped entirely because they're so unique to the original characters that they can't transfer? because yes, very, very loosely Steve=Lucy Gray, Peggy=Coriolanus, Howard=Sejanus -- but obviously that's not going to work as a 1:1 in most cases because all of these people have extremely different personalities than the TBOSAS characters. but even with the difference in premise (the biological experimentation), some elements from TBOSAS have to stay in, either because they're not going to be affected by the change or because I think they're essential to the story. but those elements get changed because the difference in characters and premise. and then there's lining up necessary elements from CATFA with necessary elements from TBOSAS: which serve the same thematic or plot purpose between stories? where (and with who) do I get to double-dip?

Steve's conversation with Dr. Erskine in Flood 2 is pulled from four different conversations: Steve and Erskine at the Stark Expo, Steve and Erskine in the barracks, Coriolanus and Gaul in the classroom, and Coriolanus and Highbottom at the end of TBOSAS.

The arena bombing (which has been mentioned in 1 and 2 and which we'll see in, I think, Chapter 4) is of course a necessary element in TBOSAS because it's the thing that shifts the entire format of the arena, but it also in TBOSAS has some other knock-on effects that are going to be adapted for Flood. what has the same thematic/plot impact in CATFA? Hydra's bombing of the Rebirth chamber and Erskine's assassination, so those two have to align, but obviously the knock-on effects are going to be different in-universe, even if some align.

There is one thing that I think is necessary for TBOSAS (up through the Games, not after) that there's no way to transfer to Flood in the CATFA timeline, which is Coriolanus and Sejanus in the arena. I thought about it, it's fine, that's actually necessary to not have in Flood for Peggy and Howard, because in Flood Steve is the main character, and in TBOSAS Lucy Gray is not the main character, Coriolanus is. They don't have to have this experience because the role they're playing in this story is different than that of the TBOSAS characters. They've got other stuff going on, but Howard specifically is never going to put himself into that position (and he's going to have other stuff going on); he might be (very very loosely) in the Sejanus Plinth role but he doesn't have all of Sejanus's other stuff going on that will create a situation where he would willingly go in there. (Even if Peggy would be a lot more willing to go in after him than Coriolanus is in TBOSAS, because of who she is as a character.) The closest equivalent to this is not in the CATFA part of the timeline, but in the Avengers part, with Tony, but he's the one Avenger that does not have even a very, very loose THG parallel. (HIs closest parallel probably actually is TBOSAS Coriolanus.)

Since you've come up with multiple mha crossover/fusion aus, do you have any advice for how to go about coming up with ideas for how the other franchise affects things? I've been working on a crossover with Megaman and got stuck because I had no idea what to actually DO with the Megaman characters and concepts once they were in mha, in part because they break a lot of rules and in part because everything I thought of felt way too forced, so I figured I'd ask for advice.

Usually I start with the idea of what I want to do with the crossover elements and then kind of design everything backwards from there.

For example, in Heroes May Cry, I wanted Midoriya to be of the Sparda lineage and fight demons, so I upped the number of demon attacks and handwaved his heritage. In DotFG, all I cared about were the breathing techniques so I let the dead rest and didn't include any demons.

The other thing is that I tend to keep the crossover a bit loose. Like how the DC crossovers pick-and-choose continuity instead of trying to keep the DC lore accurate, the lack of canon Dragonball characters in Saiyan and how I roped aspects of it into MHA (like the MLA).

A good starting point is looking for where the settings you're working with overlap. Megaman is based around a future society with advanced robotics tech, and My Hero Academia is vaguely-futuristic and has various advanced technologies, including robotics. Off the top of my head, you could easily change out the UA robots to Megaman robots, have that kind of robotics on I-Island (Maybe even Dr. Light?) and include Dr. Wily as an independent Villain without actually having to dramatically change anything about MHA.

So, what is an intrusive crossover?

The thing is I had a post about this way, way back, like... probably somewhere in the 2014-2016 era? My Marvel-and-Naruto period.

But I cannot find it.

Anyway.

I divide crossovers into categories or types, and here the most basic ones.

Intrusive: A character from one setting ends up in another, completely unrelated setting. They do not share a universe, do not share a planet, nada. This is 'falls through a portal' type of crossover. EXAMPLE: A Witch's Favor, where Wanda Maximoff and Maria Rambeau (Marvel) end up in the Star Wars universe due to an unexplained spell malfunction.

Shared Verse: The settings could theoretically, in some manner, exist in the same universe without ever intersecting. EXAMPLE: I usually use Naruto for this example, e.g. the Hidden Continent exists in the Pacific but has had minimal influence/interaction with the rest of the setting up to this point because it's magically cut off from the rest of the planet. For Star Wars, this is usually pretty easy by just putting whatever the second canon is as just. A planet in Wild Space. They exist in the same universe! They just haven't found each other yet! A great example is the fic A Star to Steer By, by @norcumii and @dogmatix. A subset of this is fics where one is the distant past of the other, like Muse on This or Red-Eyed Black Widow.

Mixed Verse: The setting is one that involves both canons influencing each other to a degree, or being in the same verse without being a fusion AU or shared-verse. The settings exist together, both having strong worldbuilding elements of the original, but are not fully themselves and show obvious elements of the other. EXAMPLE: Unfortunately my most recent example is an HP crossover so. Please keep in mind that this is from four years ago, before R*wling outed herself as a massive bigot: Professor Storm.

Fusion: more or less 1:1 "this character from fandom 1 would be this character from fandom 2" or otherwise "characters from fandom 1 reimagined in fandom 2 with none of the original setting." For a long time, HP was the biggest and most constant example, but uhhh that's clearly been falling out of favor like raw eggs. EXAMPLE: After Me Comes the Flood.

There are other types, like infusing the plot of one narrative into the setting and characters of the other, which is a really fun kind of fusion (I always come back to thinking about Age of Marvels by justplainrii, which only ever got three chapters but still eats at my brain sometimes), buuuuut I'd say most crossovers are some variant of the above four.

Question: how would Sherlock and Liam solve and fair in wits against the Count of Monte Cristo in a crossover/fusion during their time in France? ( screw time line setting or whatever ) Both stories share some of the similar elements and themes. Like revenge, justice and redemption.

I don’t have any outline if their in France because canon au or something else Idk for how or why their in France. But the point being they somehow by chance cross paths with the count (don’t have have that figured out either) and try to learn the secrets and truth surrounding mysterious count of Monte Cristo. (Possible idea for a title : The Case of the Count of Monte Cristo)

Tf2 cardcaptor au part 1

Pauling is either working in a bookstore who is trying to find a particular old book for a client - administrator ( not named that here) or she's working for Administrator directly to find this Book.

Either way, she finds this book. It's the clow book. But as soon as she opens it, the cards come out and fly away. You know like with Sakura.

But instead the cards work a bit different here. Some cards have Merged due to such inactivity they started running low on magic. And so they merged to try and conserve magic.

Some more than others.

The cards also have a human as well as pure magic form.

The one card Pauling held into was the Breeze ( shout out to @infini-tree for the name. Also go check out her art she's great. And she puts up with all my weird ass AUs and crossovers and so on and so forth. I already dragged her into animorphs)

Anyway The Breeze... is Medics card. ( Red medic specifically). Nothing happens with him until some time afterwards.

Pauling is Freaking out. She found the book. But everything Flew out. She doesn't know How or Why but she knows that her client probably wants what's In the Book.

She spends some time trying to figure out what to Do. She's looking at the Card she has (the breeze is a mix of the Fly, float and Windy) and it's got a holographic/ lenticular effect where if you move it back and forth the picture changes and you can catch a glimpse of the Component Cards it absorbed.

That night she gets a Dream where she sees the Cards and a flurry of magic but most importantly she sees the Key/ wand.

The next day, she notices a weird bird / not a Normal White Dove hanging around. She doesn't think much of it but talks to the bird, partly to herself as well. And then it talks back.

It introduces itself with a German Accent and says he's the Breeze Card, and that she's a card captor now. She released them all and now she needs to collect them all.

This is all too much for Pauling but there's no time to process it all. He's right. She's got to get those cards back so she agrees. Medic here is playing the role of Kero because I didn't want to cast Kero. I suppose I could have had Bidwell and Reedy take on the roles of Kero and Yue(?) but I like condensing this.

Anyway Pauling officially signs her name on Breezes card, putting him under her mastery/ command. He gives her everything she needs to know.

She does sees Medics human form at one point but idk when.

As the Breeze, he can give her the ability to fly/ manipulate wind in general.

I can go more detailed and step by step plot wise if anyone really wants in a different post but here's the break down at the moment for who's who card wise

Breeze ( fly/ windy/ float) - red medic

Dash ( if I don't bring the Blu team as extra cards he becomes the agility or the Movement/ Speed a mix of dash and jump)- red Scout

The create - red engineer ( if with the Blu engineer they become a half fuses card that rejects the fusion and breaks into the Create and the Copy with Blu engineer becoming the Copy)

The illusion/ mirror- red spy

The strong/ strength- red heavy

The Fight( renamed the Combat)- red soldier

The Knight- ( sword/ shield fusion)- red demo ( the sword is Eyelander. He's still there and can Talk he's just not his own card anymore. I went with the demo knight theme instead of explosions because I didn't think there eas an explosion clow card and I wanted to Do something with that sub class idea)

The arrow(?) will consider going back and revising- red sniper

The Firey-red Pyro

I'm a Persona 5 fan, and I also love putting my favourite characters into other settings... especially if they're a bit less despair-inducing than Danganronpa lmao.

So, Gonta as a Phantom Thief (because why the hell not)!! I've had this in mind for a while, and it's definitely not a final design or anything, but I like how it's turning out so far.

I wanted him to look classy, but also a bit intimidating and warrior-like

As for why his Phantom Thief outfit has some intimidating vibes when Gonta hates looking scary... I think he would eventually realise (maybe through an awakening scene?) that he can still do good by using that "intimidating” side of himself, and that he should embrace his whole self to help more and more people

Thinking about it, in a final design I want to make his undervest? Underjacket? thing more armoured, and give him more insect motifs and armour overall

Designing a Persona for him... that's gonna be a challenge if or when I get to it lol

Gonta’s very protection-oriented, not only with the armor on his outfit, but with his Persona abilities. Group defense buffs and group heal skills are a must for him. Is there a move in P5 where a character is 100% guaranteed to tank attacks aimed at others? If there is, he has that for sure. Also his element would be wind and his weakness would be fire

The shield-spear combo was inspired by this quote which pops into my head occasionally:

The Phantom Thieves in P5 all have one gun and one weapon each, so an idea I had for Gonta was that his “shield” would actually be a large beetle-shaped armoured gun, that’s strapped onto his arm like a shield because using it as a gun feels dishonorable. ...But I completely forgot about that when drawing this orz I’ll get it right next time

LU x Demon Slayer

I don't have the time or motivation to start a whole giant crossover fic but I still think about it from time to time because it is fun and the tags I got on my last post made me think.

Anyway, due to ramblings, this is going to have a cut!

Also, this post will assume you're caught up with the anime up to the end of the Hashira Training Arc. I haven't read the manga so I'm doing a lot of heavy lifting with the anime.

If I did a crossover, it would be a fusion. I want the boys to use breathing styles and I like to imagine that they're all hashiras being sent down to track down a troublesome demon who is turning others into demons on mass (Dink's ability to infect monsters to make them stronger is kind of like how receiving the blood of a demon also makes you a demon).

Basic Story Elements

The fic would be mostly about taking down Demon Dink. Demon Dink could fill the role of Muzan but if we're wanting it to be more Zelda like, Demise could also be Muzan and bosses like Ganondorf, Zant, and Cia could be part of the Twelve Kizuki. Choices!

Unfortunately, making them all hashiras kind of makes it hard to have the Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu trio. It also makes it hard to have a Nezuko. However, if only most of them are hashiras, then we could make a trio. I think either Colin or Aryll could work as a family member turned demon (even though they are a tad young, I think) and have Wind or Twilight be Tanjiro. You could make a trio from whichever boy you like.

One last thing is that Lon Lon ranch is totally the Butterfly Mansion and Malon is always around to nurse everybody back to health.

Breathing Styles

Now for the fun part! I feel like a lot of this could be debated because it's so open to interpretation! It also doesn't seem uncommon for people to just make up their own style (looking at you, Inosuke) which would also fit the guys. I also tried my best to give everybody a different one.

Warriors - flame breathing. Warriors has always felt like a fire guy to me and that might because I strongly associate him with the fire rod. What captured my imagination the most is that Flame Breathing has a form that resembles a dragon and Warriors can use his fire rod to summon a dragon (gif credit - click for more gifs of Warriors using his fire rod). I can't shake the fire vibes from Warriors, honestly.

Wind - Wind breathing. I know, I'm lame for picking a breathing style with his name in it but Wind is the guy who teleports via cyclones and what does wind breathing look like? It's the most obvious style you could pick for him but it works. No need it make it complicated..

Twilight - Stone breathing. We haven't see much of stone breathing in the anime yet but I feel like Twilight could sub in for Gyomei well. Both have a past of looking after young children, both like cats, both are strong (Gyomei's whole section of the Hashira training regiment is essentially strength training), and both of them use a giant spiky ball on a chain. I'm not sure if you need a flail for stone breathing but like I said, I feel like Twilight is a decent stand in for Gyomei, who uses this breathing style.

I couldn't find a gif of Twilight using it so you get this picture I took from Zelda Dungeon:

Four - mist breathing. Mist breathing is about being hard to predict (as if shrouded in fog), which I think is something that suits Four, who uses his height and agility to his advantage. It kind of makes me think of that page in The Shadow 2 where he dives under a lizalfos to give Time an opportunity for a sneak attack. Four was kind of tricky for me but now I kind of love the idea of him using this style.

Legend - water breathing. This is another one where I don't have anything super concrete Water breathing is versatile and lends itself well to being modified, which I think suits somebody who can be called a veteran. I also like how much it flows, which fits with the dancer headcanon a lot of people like for him. I think Legend would in particular would excel at it to the point of making his own forms for it like Giyu has.

And now, for the guys that gave me a harder time.

Sky - thunder breathing. I think thunder breathing suits Sky thematically in that Sky actually used lightning in his fight with Demise. It's a semi-popular headcanon for him to have the ability to manipulate lightning because of this. Sky is capable of being fast as well, so I don't think Thunderclap and Flash is out of the question for him either.

However, I can't quite let go of the hinokami kagura/sun breathing because that's the first style and in LOZ, he's the first hero. I think anything that looks like fire suits him a lot but I do have a hard time letting it go. Maybe he learns thunder breathing first and sun after.

Wild - beast breathing. Beast breathing is one that Inosuke made up himself with little influence from anybody else because he didn't really grow up with people. I think this sort of things suits Wild, who had to learn to not just survive but thrive in the wilds.

I also kind of like sound breathing for him but ultimately, I figured beast suits him a bit better. I also think it would be cool if before he got amnesia, he had a completely different breathing style and learned something new while he was out on his own without his memories.

Hyrule - thunder or flaming derivative? I feel like Hyrule is also someone who is likely to end up with his own unique breathing style, though I can't figure out if thunder or fire would suit him better because both work. I'm stumped.

Time - maybe sound-breathing? Sound breathing, at least the way Tengen uses it, is flashy, loud, and also uses giant blades on a chain. Tengen also sees battle in a musical sense in that he reads a demon's battle style as a musical score and Time's one of the most musically inclined. Legend would be the other only person who compare in that department.

However, I'm not completely sold on Time using sound breathing because I think stone breathing suits him too and I'm kind of mad about that. I also have a hard time seeing Time using the amount of explosions that Tengen uses. We could turn him into an Urokodaki-like figure and we just have two people who use stone breathing but ehhh, I don't exactly like a retired hashira or demon slayer travelling around with ones who are on active duty.

Anyway, that is it from me. I would love to see what other people have in mind!

So i decided to do it myself, and i introduce them as: The Elite Eight (ft a mediocre edit)

The team dynamics would work the same way they would as in their regular settings, i.e.:

Hiccup and Penny are the voices of reason, Merida and Wilbur are the thrill seekers etc etc

Only difference is now that the group is basically 4 freshmen and 4 juniors we have the classic Mentor and Student dynamic

As for the world building, to sum it up rq. It’s a modern/futuristic with magic universe combining brave, tangled/tts, bh6, bolt, mtr, the incredibles(1-2) and elements of rotg and httyd (specifically race to the edge)

Things like dragons, wisps, and magic all exist, but in a percy jackson type fashion. Only specific people can see these things ykwim

The movies are all canon (not rotg, for reasons to be elaborated on later) but with a modern twist, to be explained below:

As for ROTG, the whole “guardians of childhood” thing isn’t in this au because i couldn’t make it work. So for a modern retelling of that, tldr Jack is basically a teen in the foster system with major amnesia. The guardians are as they were but they’re not “guardians”, more like Jacks new foster family that also happen to be a bunch of magical creatures and myths.

The guardians and their house are basically a fusion of professor xaviors mansion/school for mutants(X-Men), the house in The Grimm Sisters, the treehouse in The Last Kids On Earth and the camp in Percy Jackson.

As for the superhero aspect, Violet and Hiro are gonna get the Peter Parker treatment. They’re hiding things from everyone else, which is crazy because everyone in the group is hiding something and i think that’s super funny

Making this its own post instead of an ask.

I divide crossovers into categories or types, and here the most basic ones.

Intrusive:

A character from one setting ends up in another, completely unrelated setting. They do not share a universe, do not share a planet, nada. This is "falls through a portal" type of crossover. EXAMPLE: A Witch's Favor, where Wanda Maximoff and Maria Rambeau (Marvel) end up in the Star Wars universe due to an unexplained spell malfunction.

Shared Verse:

The settings could theoretically, in some manner, exist in the same universe without ever intersecting. EXAMPLE: I usually use Naruto for this example, e.g. the Hidden Continent exists in the Pacific but has had minimal influence/interaction with the rest of the setting up to this point because it's magically cut off from the rest of the planet. For Star Wars, this is usually pretty easy by just putting whatever the second canon is as just. A planet in Wild Space. They exist in the same universe! They just haven't found each other yet! A great example is the fic A Star to Steer By, by @norcumii and @dogmatix. A subset of this is fics where one is the distant past of the other, like Muse on This or Red-Eyed Black Widow.

Mixed Verse:

The setting is one that involves both canons influencing each other to a degree, or being in the same verse without being a fusion AU or shared-verse. The settings exist together, both having strong worldbuilding elements of the original, but are not fully themselves and show obvious elements of the other. EXAMPLE: Unfortunately my most recent example is an HP crossover so. Please keep in mind that this is from four years ago, before R*wling outed herself as a massive bigot: Professor Storm.

Fusion:

More or less 1:1 "this character from fandom A would be this character from fandom B" or otherwise "characters from fandom A reimagined in fandom B with none of the original setting." For a long time, HP was the biggest and most constant example, but uhhh that's clearly been falling out of favor like raw eggs. I've seen a lot of good ones for Hunger Games, though, and even wrote my own, but I know some other common ones are Steven Universe (which gem are they?), AtLA (which bender type are they?), or Pokemon (what trainer type are they). Also, arguably, generic AUs that don't take place in canon-verse, like modern or historical or zombie or Generic Cyberdystopia. EXAMPLE: After Me Comes the Flood.

Element Overlay:

A world-building element from Fandom B is applied to the setting and characters of Fandom A. Common examples are Daemon AUs or Sentinel/Guide AUs. I think a fun thing to point out is that, while they don't technically have a source fandom of origin since they were developed communally by fandom, soulmate AUs and omegaverse count as well.

There are other types, like infusing the plot of one narrative into the setting and characters of the other, which is a really fun kind of fusion (I always come back to thinking about Age of Marvels by justplainrii, which only ever got three chapters but still eats at my brain sometimes), buuuuut I'd say most crossovers are some variant of the above.

SVSSS/KHR AU:

I'm incapable of brainrotting a piece of media w out making some sort of fusion/crossover AU, so now I've got SVSSS but in the KHR universe AU

Tianlang-jun would be a true earthling, thoough i haven't decided what flames he'd have. Aesthetically, I'd say Storm because red. But also, because of the whole heavenly demon healing, I wanna say Sun.

Zhuzhi-lang is half true earthling, half human. He is also with out a doubt a Cloud imo.

Also, Kawahira still exists in this AU because I absolutely do not trust TLJ to keep the Trinisette going, and so by extension the Giglio Nero line still exists as well. But this ain't about them rn, so we're going back to scum villain characters (Does this also mean KHR storyline continues on as in canon? Maybe! Haven't decided because a lot happens in KHR, but a lot also happens in SVSSS. Maybe they happen parallel to eachother and just never intersect. Who knows, I certainly don't!)

Su Xiyan is human and working under Huan Hua. I haven't decided if she'd be Sky, or some other flame type. A Sky would work in relation to a forever unattainable flame bond w tlj while also keeping her available to inherit HH. But a different flame type would work in relation to the OPM being scum and trying to lure SXY into his Harmony and keep her tied to him.

Regardless, it plays out how you'd expect, w SXY dying, TLJ incapacitated/imprisoned (I'm thinking trapped in Vendicare somehow), and Luo Binghe orphaned.

Cang Qiong and all the other Sects would be organized crime families to fit in canon. And Cang Qiong would continue to be a dozen sects/crime organizations in a trench coat pretending to be only one big sect/crime organization.

Yue Qingyuan would be a Sky, no doubt about it in my mind, but i haven't figured out who he'd be bonded to. Or if he'd even have anyone in his harmony.

Shen Qingqiu is a Cloud. I imagine people assume he's a Classic Cloud because of how he is and that he obviously has classic cloud traits- tho no one can figure out what his territory is- but in reality, he's an Inverted Cloud and just really good at pretending not to be, and only reason he remains with Cang Qiong instead of wandering away is because of YQY.

Speaking of, YQY and SQQ were once bonded, back when they were still street kids, but not anymore.

They were flame-active street kids who managed to keep their flames hidden, because it was well known that street kids who went flame active were taken and never seen again. But then Shen Jiu's flames were noticed by Qiu Jianluo and he was taken. (And then Yue Qi promised to save him, and we all know how that goes.)

The Qiu family is a wealthy family that amassed their wealth via criminal activity (a small one in the grand scheme of things tbh). And QJL is set to inherit, so finding a Cloud with no connections is great fortune. Clouds are rare and known to become powerhouses if they make it to adulthood, if he can force this stray cloud into his harmony, he'll be set! First however, he needs to train this little cloud into submission...

Shen Jiu endures the Qius for as long as he does, because he trusts his Qi-ge to come back for him, and feeling their bond still there comforts him throughout it all.

And then there bond breaks, and SJ can endure no more. The Qiu massacre occurs, and newly flame active Qiu Haitang who was unaware of her family's involvement in the underworld is the only survivor.

Shen Jiu is taken under the wing of Wu Yanzi, a Mist and a freelancer, who teaches SJ but also has his own ulterior motives for doing so.

And then, during a hit at a conference (haven't yet figured out what to replace the IAC with yet), SJ kills WYZ and meets YQ again, only now, he's Yue Qingyuan.

Their bond broke all those years ago and SJ nearly went into Discord over it. He had assumed that that meant YQY had died, because the only other way for a flame bond to break was if the Sky had chosen to break off a bond with an element.

So the fact that YQY was standing here in front of SJ alive and with flames stronger then before, meant that YQY had chosen to break off their flame bond and abandon SJ.

Obviously that's not what happened, but the chances of YQY actually explaining that is abysmally low.

So what actually happens, is that YQY gets recruited by Cang Qiong after catching the eye of the current Head/Boss. YQY works tirelessly and rises through the ranks until he's being considered heir to CQM (CQM doesn't do the whole "inheritance through blood" thing the rest of the Underworld does, they decide through other means.)

But "being considered" isn't enough to save Xiao Jiu. Not only that, but he's too desperate to wait. So he looks for a faster way to get stronger.

I'm not entirely sure what the Xuan Su equivalent will be in this AU. Currently I'm imagining a magic/cursed item or ring, as KHR has plenty of those things. Regardless, YQY takes this Xuan Su equivalent and.. Well. He gets stronger yes, but the immediate effects push him into Discord.

The current CQM Head obviously isn't happy about this, as YQY was going to be the heir to Qiong Ding, as well as his chance to ensure Qiong Ding continues leading CQM for another generation (CQM switches leadership around based on whichever peak manages to raise a Sky as an Heir, and QD has managed to keep up it's currently leadership for a few generations now. The current CQM Head doesn't wanna break the streak now. Does this system have drawbacks? Yes but we're not getting into that rn)

So he orders they do whatever is necessary to ensure YQY survives Discord. There's gonna be punishment later for breaking into a restricted area and stealing a magic artifact, but that's only if YQY survives.

Something they do while trying to make sure YQY survives, is break any possible flame bonds he has. There willll be some lash back on the other end, but they need all of YQY's flames uninterrupted/present while they work on him. Plus, bonds can be reforged at a later date.

YQY is too out of it to be aware of or object to what they're doing, and so his bond with SJ is broken.

YQY survives Discord, coming out the other end with Inverted Sky flames flipped and now Classic. Not only that, but he can no longer actually use his flames. (I actually haven't figured out the specifics of this, mainly because I can't decide if he'll still be able to form flame bonds or not. On one hand, it makes sense if he's expected to form flame bonds with some of his fellow CQM heads for inner sect politics. And it would allow for YQY to try to reforge his bond SQQ, only for SQQ to reject his harmony because he believes YQY is doing it out of pity and doesn't actually want SQQ in his harmony (thus leading to the rest of their martial siblings being outraged on YQY's behalf). But on the other hand, it'd be more tragic if the reason YQY and SQQ don't reforge their bond is because YQY can't and SQQ is left believing this is proof YQY doesn't want him anymore. A hard choice indeed.)

YQY is upset at the state of his flames, but what upsets him more is the loss of his bond with SJ. While dealing w the consequences of his actions, YQY at least comforts himself w the thought of seeing SJ again.

And then he learns of the Qiu massacre. While the media covers it up as a "freak fire" and "terrible accident", the rest of the Underworld know that wasn't actually the case.

YQY doesn't care about all that, instead, he's too devastated at the news that there was only one survivor and it wasn't his Xiao Jiu.

Cue YQY grieving whilst continuing on in a position that no longer matters to him if it means he can't use it to take care of/protect his Xiao Jiu.

And then he's at the (IAC equivalent) and there's SJ in front of him and alive.

Things progress from there as you'd expect them to, YQY and SJ angst, SJ joins CQM after YQY begs for him to, SJ joins QJ and becomes the current head's heir, etc etc.

I haven't figured out what the other peak lord's flame types are

Qi Qingqi is a Classic Cloud, born and raised in CQM, so Xian Shu is her territory. Making her a cloud also adds to her animosity with SQQ because there's always general friction between Clouds when their territories are too close together.

Mu Qingfang would be a Rain. Haven't decided if he's a Classic or an Inverted rain with really good self-discipline. While it'd probably make more sense to make him a Sun because of the whole healing association, I've always been a fan of unorthodox flame usage and I like the idea of MQF finding a way to use his rain flames to heal. His unique and unorthodox flame usage would be what helped him become the next Head to Qian Cao, too. I imagine they also help when dealing w difficult patients, too.

Liu Qingge would be an Inverted Sun. He mainly uses his flames to heal himself during hunts and as an excuse to avoid going to Qian Cao for medical assistance. The excuse works about 50% of the time.

I'm not entirely sure what Wei Qingwei would be tbh. Maybe a Lightning? TBH I don't have enough of a clue about him as a character yet to really figure out what flame type to give him.

I can't decide if I want Shang Qinghua to be a inverted Mist or a inverted Lightning. Mist suits OG!SQH, and also because it gives him the element of surprise because you wouldn't imagine someone from An Ding being a Mist. Lightning works because you'd expect someone from An Ding to be hardy, also, Lightning abilities are just all around very handy when dealing with goods.

(I also just liked the irony of Airplane transmigrating into a lightning after dying to electrocution, but that's only if i chose to go the transmigrators route.)

I can't actually decide what to do with Airplane and Shen Yuan in this AU. I could go the transmigrators route, but I also don't feel it suits this KHR AU very well.

I could make them already exist in the AU, but I don't know how I'd go about getting them involved with with everything else.

Metroid and F-Zero GP

So un-ironically I'd really like the F-Zero GP anime to cross over with a Metroid show; Specifically, let’s make it canon and even a recurring element within the series.

Because it takes place in space, in the future, there's a Galactic Federation, Captain Falcon is a bounty hunter. And the way I'd incorporate it would be as seamless and natural as I could; Like these are just new characters, the same way Rundas or Sylux would be. The fact that they're F-Zero is not made loud and apparent, not that I'm ever against those types of crossovers... But it'd be a fun writing exercise to try merging these stories organically, even making crossover elements and individual episodes relevant to Samus' character arc.

So there's a couple of F-Zero elements that might show up here or there, a reference to the races. There's an episode where Samus has to face off against yet another bounty hunter, this one being expert marksman Pico, whose fighting style revolves around his perfect aim, and eludes her due to his distant nature as a sniper. Dark Million shows up and maybe it’s the criminal organization that disastrously hired Kanden for the Metroid. And eventually...

Well, I'd discussed the idea of Samus going to Earth, the Earthians' ancestral homeworld, after the events of the Fusion arc. It's her way of reconnecting with her Earthian side, with the ancestry of Rodney and Virginia, after focusing so much on Chozo affairs. In a way it's Samus re-exploring her identity after becoming part-Metroid, who she is as a person, all that stuff; And it sets her up to occasionally question her Chozo heritage, who they raised her to be, which transitions nicely into the Dread arc and the Mawkin representing the worst of the Chozo.

But before that, Samus is interested in tracing her Earthian genealogy and all that. Considering the kind of life and community she might've had if the Space Pirates never attacked K-2L. I'd love for Anthony Higgs to be present here, but his standing in the Federation would make it really awkward for him, so I'm not sure how it'd work out; I'm working on the idea of Samus getting pardoned thanks to Adam helping her leak the BSL corruption, which leads to public outcry defending Samus, as a callback to Fusion's ending monologue about people who understand. Even so, Samus is still on uneasy terms with the Federation, so I dunno if Anthony could make it.

We get an episode or two about Samus awkwardly trying to be Earthian and it not exactly working out? Is she just a tourist here? She has an existential conversation with Adam, who is also possibly struggling with the fact that he's no longer human, but a machine. So like Samus he's rediscovering himself too, and maybe Malkovich had a life and/or ancestry on Earth he left behind...

Eventually, this segues into the next storyline; Samus decides to visit Mute City, a popular site for tourists and immigrants alike. In F-Zero GP continuity (which differs from the games), Mute City is just a renamed New York City, meaning most of the action takes place on Earth. Samus crosses paths with Captain Falcon, a fellow bounty hunter like herself. She also witnesses the F-Zero races, questioning how they're even legal; This could tie into Samus questioning everything she's believed in regarding the Galactic Federation. Are these death races, performed for the entertainment of the upper classes, just further proof that Sylux was right???

This also gets me to another thing; I'm interested in Joey Apronika, from the Samus and Joey manga. I'd also like to adapt that, with various story arcs spread out across the Metroid show; It's not done all in one sitting, Joey is a recurring character. And being human, he could maybe show up alongside Samus, as she explores reconnecting with her 'human' side and understanding just what she's made up of now.

Joey wields the Field Knuckle, which is basically a tech gauntlet that allows him to generate protective barriers around his fist, himself and others, etc. This comes in handy for just punching enemies really, REALLY hard. And this reminds me of the Falcon Punch...

F-Zero GP follows its own take on the classic roster, with Captain Falcon's true identity being Andy Summer, not Douglas J. Falcon. However, it's also established that the title of Captain Falcon is a mantle, passed down from mentor to apprentice; Andy is not the first, so it's possible, if not implied, that his predecessor and/or the original Falcon was Douglas. The anime ends with Andy sacrificing his life to defeat Black Shadow, and the main character Ryu Suzaku becomes the new Captain Falcon.

Yeah, did I mention? F-Zero GP follows a similar premise to the Samus and Joey manga, in that we have a plucky young rookie, who is mentored by the mysterious face of the franchise. Interesting! The F-Zero GP even ends with a "To be continued...?" tagline.

Now, with Ryu as the new Captain Falcon, shouldn't he have his own successor considered, just as the show up until then was him and the previous Captain Falcon going on the occasional adventure together? Enter Clank Hughes, a young, tech-savvy boy who has a visor he can scan things with...

In the epilogue, Clank is a grown-up young man, and explicitly named as Ryu's successor; He will eventually become Captain Falcon. In the meantime, he learns from Suzaku, who fits quite nicely into his new outfit and identity.

Clank Hughes bears a decent resemblance to Joey Apronika... Joey fights similarly to Captain Falcon... Clank has his own scan visor, not unlike Samus Aran. Thus, I've considered two different options for how I want to approach the mantle of Captain Falcon in a Metroid show:

The first is to follow up directly where F-Zero GP ended, with Ryu as Captain Falcon, albeit more muscled and chiseled now. Him and Samus have some bonding moments and parallels; They both have young apprentices who look quite similar to one another! They both carry on where their friend(s) have died, and are quite lonely and out of their world;

See, Ryu Suzaku is not from this century; He's from the 21st century. This was back when Earth had yet to make contact with the Galactic Federation; He used to be a regular police officer and racer, but when he got into a car chase with escaped convict Zoda, Ryu was badly injured. It left him in a coma so severe, that doctors gave up and decided to put him into cryogenic sleep, and wait for the time when medical tech had advanced to heal him fully.

This would happen 150 years later; Ryu gets revived and makes a full recovery thanks to Doctor Stewart, and is a man out of his time. The only people from his time are his fiancee, who also went through the same treatment... And Zoda, who also got the same treatment.

Point is: There's a lot of people that Ryu left behind! And while this concept does make me consider a 'Frozen generation' of others who also waited things out cryogenically... It's still not a lot to work off of. So for Ryu, he's trying to reconnect with his lost past, and Samus is trying to explore one aspect of her ancestry. These are difficult things to bond over, as is them not being able to relate to a lot of people over their experiences.

Likewise, as Samus worries about destroying everything she touches (wait until she unlocks her Metroid DNA and that happens literally!), she's concerned about possibly hurting Joey, and Captain Falcon is someone who can listen and understand. He even calls back to when Clank was a young boy, just like Joey himself!

As for Clank himself, he knows he's got big shoes to fill in; He bonds with Joey over their mentors, although Clank has known his for much longer, and is tbh closer to him. Still, he gives Joey much-needed reassurance as an older brother figure. Captain Falcon helps Joey master his Field Knuckle, imparting the technique of the Falcon Punch; Its nature in Metroid might be technology, secret martial arts, a mix of magic and pseudo-medical science, IDK. Ghosts canonically exist in Metroid, as do telepaths.

Clank's scan visor compliments Samus' quite nicely, and the arc comes to a close with Clank, who has been considering how HIS successor will be, realizing Joey is a pretty good candidate! Joey's too young and Clank isn't Captain Falcon yet, but there's setup for his own future to look forward to... Captain Falcon, Clank, and a couple other F-Zero characters also return every now and then, depending on how long the show keeps going after the Dread arc's conclusion.

That's Plan A... For Plan B;

Clank Hughes is already Captain Falcon. Samus sees a fellow bounty hunter who also has a scan visor incorporated into his helmet. Cap helps Joey master his Field Knuckle in ways even his father, whom he inherited it from, didn't; Captain Falcon and Samus both bond over mentoring this young and impressionable kid, it makes Samus feel a lot less scared and lonely handling Joey. And Captain Falcon sees a lot of his younger self in Joey.

Eventually, Falcon elaborates on his backstory; His true name is Clank Hughes. He is not the first Captain Falcon, just another in a lineage. His predecessor was Ryu Suzaku, who gave his life to protect innocents... Cue a flashback to the first Metroid Crisis; Space Pirates have deployed some Metroids on the F-Zero Grand Prix, because they're petty like that.

Clank is present racing alongside Captain Falcon. It's a pretty tense scenario, civilians are being attacked by Metroids, some of the racers find their vehicles being drained by the vampires, which leads to crashes. The Blue Falcon gets attacked by Metroids and is damaged; Captain Falcon can't get the cockpit to open, he's trapped inside...

They're on a racetrack atypical of the usual ones; A ring contained within a stadium, built on the premise of high-speed circular racing. With the speed that racers go, they can heat up the track really fast. To make up for this, beneath the stadium is a giant cooling reactor to keep the racetrack from melting... How does Captain Falcon know of the Metroid weakness to cold? This could be after the first wave of attacks, when the Galactic Federation has already posted PSAs about this vulnerability.

Falcon messages Clank, explaining the emergency eject has been disabled; There's no getting himself out of this situation. But for everyone else...

In some really expert maneuvering, he drives the Blue Falcon into the Metroids, letting them cling onto his vehicle and start draining it. He even bumps into other racers, the speed and force tearing off the Metroids, who then choose the Blue Falcon instead. Hell maybe he even drives onto the abandoned seats to lure the Metroids away from the audience.

With all of the creatures latched onto his vehicle and its power draining fast, Falcon makes a final send-off message to Clank, declaring him the new Captain Falcon. The entire scene is in blatant, shot-for-shot homage to the previous Falcon's heroic sacrifice, down to an instrumental version of the song that plays; Captain Falcon activates the boosters, ramming through doors and into an underground track leading to the cooling reactor.

Captain Falcon rams the Blue Falcon into the center of the cooling reactor, freezing the outside, as well as the Metroids latched on. His helmet flies off, revealing an older Ryu Suzaku, who charges up a Falcon Punch that he rams right into his console; The force is so great it causes the Blue Falcon to explode, shattering the frozen Metroids. We get a final shot of Ryu smiling in his heroic sacrifice, just like Andy Summer, before disappearing in the explosion.

The detonation leads to a chain reaction within the cooling reactor; This causes all of the ice to funnel upwards and through the racetrack above, leading to some very pretty snowflakes falling around the stadium. Clank Hughes mourns Captain Falcon, and vows to fulfill his role, just as Cap did the previous one before him!

Cut back to the present; Earlier, Hughes had expressed admiration to Samus for ending the Metroid Crisis. You can see he really, REALLY means it. He imparts his own advice to Samus about keeping the hearts of your friends alive, and their sacrifices not in vain, and he knows what it's like to lose multiple father figures; Samus takes that into consideration (and it sets up Samus having to deal later with a 'father figure' she takes great shame in). Samus and Captain Falcon's friendship is furthered, since he basically takes joint custody with her over Joey, and realizes Joey has the shapings to become a Captain Falcon himself!

The training won't begin, not yet; But it's an invitation for Joey to consider. And it's something for Samus to look forward to; Joey doesn't have to follow in her lonely footsteps. But with Captain Falcon, he's got a lot of friends and confidence and charisma... Adam reminds Samus not to be so dismissive of herself though. Who knows?

(One of my main reasons for hesitation with Ryu being posthumous and Hughes having already taken his position, comes from me... Honestly not wanting to crush the hearts of fans who grew attached to Ryu, and really wanted to see him be Captain Falcon. Granted a badass heroic sacrifice helps to assuage that disappointment but still. And also yeah I kinda DO want to see Ryu as Falcon, myself!!!)

As a side note: There's also a storyline about Rockets, a racer from Samus and Joey, competing in the F-Zero. He's an antagonist, hoping to use the prize money to help fund his boss Greed's operations and all that. Jody Summer is also present, and things could get complicated given she's a member of the Galactic Federation, which has VERY tense feelings towards Samus because of the BSL incident; She probably leans towards sympathizer, but it's still awkward. And at some point Captain Falcon has to clarify she's the sister of a previous Falcon, so Jody's family to him too.

Decided to compile my notes on this crossover (fusion?) between Persona 5 and Digital Devil Saga. For anyone familiar with DDS, the beginning of this will come off as a summation of the game’s main mechanical draws, but once we’re past that we get into original stuff.

Basic Premise:

Any human entering the Metaverse has a chance to be afflicted with the Atma Virus, chances increase if the person is under extreme physical or mental duress.

Humans afflicted with the virus gain an Atma Brand: a black mark that appears somewhere on their body. When this brand is activated (indicated by the brand glowing, lines spreading out from the brand, and the surrounding skin turning black) a human can transform into an Avatar.

The brand is visible to anyone, meaning the thieves (and others) need to hide it.

An Avatar is a human transformed into a demon. This transformation is powered by magnetite—a metaphysical substance that can only be found in Shadows, cognitive beings, and humans.

After their first transformation, Avatars will go into a frenzy and consume as much magnetite as possible to ‘fill an empty store’ to put it lightly. Their human thoughts and reasoning will be borderline zero as they focus solely on eating.

Avatars will always crave magnetite, as it is necessary for their survival and continued existence. This manifests as a ‘hunger,’ primarily via intrusive thoughts, cravings, and violent urges.

If an Avatar does not eat, they will eventually go ‘berserk,’ losing all human rationale and transforming into their demon form, rampaging until their hunger is satisfied or they’re put down by another force.

Avatars can transform in the real world—this isn’t limited to the Metaverse.

The Phantom Thieves:

Akira

First one afflicted by the Atma Virus, becomes the de-facto leader solely because he has slightly longer experience corralling his demon (and Arsene is arguable one of the tamer demons)

Because of the general nature of Digital Devil Saga, he isn't a "wildcard" with access to other Personas. This is an Arsene Only run.

Looks virtually identical to Arsene when transformed, the cloth elements of his design are swapped out for more organic elements (scales, cartilage, etc.)

Has the least powerful cravings, but has frequent intrusive thoughts. Is often disassociating to prevent himself from acting on them.

Atma Brand is the Phantom Thieves’ logo—top hat, mask, flaming eye, the works—and is located on his left pec, directly above his heart.

Ryuji

Second one afflicted by the Atma Virus.

Looks mostly skeletal, with black cord-like muscles weaving through and around his bones. Chest is hollow except for a sparking yellow ‘core’ of electric magic. Does not have his big boat :(

Has powerful cravings that he copes with by running/exercising. Purposefully does this in bad neighborhoods to avoid people he knows and take ‘big risks.’ Has gotten into fights with some people during his runs, he wins, and sometimes satisfies his cravings.

Atma Brand is his skull mask with two bones crossed behind it (similar to Jolly Rogers) over his thigh, right over the break Kamoshida caused.

Ann

Third afflicted with the Atma virus.

Avatar form is an anthropomorphic panther with pink fur. From the chest down it has tight, scale-like armor that is multi-layered, somewhat similar to how Carmen’s dress is layered. Has a pair of curled, flaming pigtails.

Struggles the most with intrusive thoughts, specifically related to guilt and disgust at herself for having to do this. Copes by throwing herself into modeling and binge eating sweets.

Sometimes regrets not devouring Kamoshida’s shadow, but whenever she thinks about that she has a depressive spiral and binge eats more.

Atma Brand is on the small of her back and is an all black, negative space rose.

Morgana

The one exception to the rule! He cannot turn into an avatar, but has access to healing spells.

Claims that he’s a human trapped in a ‘permanent’ avatar form, hence why he looks like a cat both in and out of the Metaverse.

Wants to explore the depths of Mementos as he senses something incredibly important at the bottom, but doesn’t have the strength to get further than the first floors.

Believes that it might be a cure for the Atma virus, but he isn’t certain.

Can calm down an avatar’s cannibalistic urges and hunger by making physical contact with and purring. He doesn’t know why this is the case.

Unlike the OG P5 where Morgana pushes for the establishment of the Thieves to use them to progress through Mementos, here the Thieves must continue so they won’t go berserk and can try to find a cure.

As such, Morgana joins to keep them on track and prevent them from going berserk and slaughtering others, as it would only lead to greater harm and prevent Morgana from achieving his own goals.

Yusuke

Fourth to obtain the Atma Virus.

Avatar form is a mix of Goemon’s usual flair (a large patterned ‘coat’, the posturing, etc.) but with some more kitsune aspects. Similar to Ann’s, Yusuke’s Avatar looks more like an anthropomorphic fox with red markings on his face (to match his mask) and three tails, with the longest one bound in red string.

Like Akira’s form, a lot of the ‘cloth’ elements are altered to be layered scales that are more rigid than the baggy, thin cloth Goemon has. His shoes would be altered into keratin-made claws, he wouldn’t have his pipe, etc.

Unfortunately there’s really no good way to describe this through text. If I could draw, I would :(

Has the most experience dealing with the hunger cravings as Madarme would use food restriction as another method to abuse Yusuke.

Copes the best with his new urges, as hunting shadows and eating them does alleviate some of his human-based hunger, though not by much. It’s also arguably the strongest form of independence Yusuke has had in years, as he is able to ‘get his own food.’

Atma brand is, fittingly, on his stomach. It’s a samurai sword crossed over Goemon’s pipe.

Makoto

Fifth to be afflicted with the Atma Virus.

Handles the change the worst out of everyone, has the most intrusive thoughts and disgust, completely refrains from eating anything in hopes of ‘outlasting’ her urges. Morgana needed to be with her almost 24/7 after she obtained the brand, and she’s the least enthusiastic whenever she needs to hunt.

Has regular panic attacks about her morality, which means she partially transforms a lot with the Atma Brand reacting to her stress.

Avatar form is most similar to Anat, in that she’s a mechanical-like human, but with more of Johanna’s design elements. Her head is also more like Alexandrite from Steven universe, in that there’s a normal ‘face’ that can lift up to expose a more monstrous maw.

Atma Brand is on her right shoulder. It’s a flaming wheel.

Nearly got caught by Sae, who saw the Atma Brand due to her high-shoulder shirt for her summer school uniform. Actively breaks dress code after that and is always seen wearing a long-sleaved shirt or jacket.

Futaba

Sixth to obtain the Atma Virus

Willingly afflicts herself with the Atma virus in her own palace (we will get to how in that fic, I refuse to spoil here)

Similar to P5, Futaba suffers from visual and audible hallucinations following the murder of her mother. Her pain reaches the point of her asking the Phantom Thieves to ‘consume’ her, as she knows what they’re fully capable of with her bugs in the café.

Still suffers from hallucinations after her palace is finished, but instead of being about her family berating her, they’re about her eating and getting revenge on her family.

Copes similarly to P5, where she attempts to ignore it and shuts down. Suffers the most in large crowds due to sensory overload and struggles to not bite people. Uses a lot of stim toys, especially ones designed for chewing.

Appearance is one of the more drastically altered from P5 (like how tf am I meant to change a UFO into something vaguely humanoid). Avatar form’s ‘skin’ is the same as her full-body suit from P5 (black with green accent lines). Has long tentacles with bludgeoning ‘bulbs’ at the end, similar to Necronomicon’s tentacles. Futaba’s hair also turns into cord-like tentacles with tiny mouths on the end. Her face lacks any mouths, and instead has wide, circular eyes that take up half her face. The eyes are primarily green, except for when scanning enemies for weakness (blue) or eating (red).

Brand is on her back, directly between her shoulder blades. It’s a series of three concentric circles with a four-pointed star in the center.

Haru

Seventh to be afflicted with the Atma Virus.

Has the most altered story compared to P5, as I refuse to have Morgana run off like a jackass (especially because he would have an incredibly vital role to the team to help them not go insane).

Instead her problems with her abusive fiancé and father are discovered by Makoto, who has been hanging out with Haru for a sense of normalcy ever since she ‘helped’ with Kaneshiro.

Makoto feels indebted to Haru for her emotional support and decides to help out with making him the Thieves’ new target—this aligns with the Phansite poll saying they should go after Okumura.

Haru gets accidentally dragged in when she follows Makoto one day to try and figure out why she was so busy after probing Haru with questions. This leads to her being cornered and attacked by shadows, nearly dying, and having the Atma Virus attach to her. The rest of what happens I’ll save for her fic >:)

Haru’s appearance is another one that’s drastically different from P5. Unlike the large skirt and bodice that Milady has, Haru has a slim, almost statue-like lower-half that appears to be made of stone. This breaks at her stomach, which has a large, fanged mouth (Milady’s skirt breaking open to the gun compartment). Haru’s upper-half continues the statue motif but breaks around her arms, which are more cartilage-like axes. The final break is right above her nose, where her eyes would be. Instead, the ‘head’ of her Avatar form is filled with pink and purple Hydrangeas that mimic her hair.

Haru’s Atma Brand is on her left shoulder. It’s a gatling gun with ‘explosion’ marks around the muzzle.

Akechi

Was afflicted with the Atma virus long before the events of Persona 5.

Has been hunting for years now, primarily does this by running through Mementos.

Usually dedicates a full day to hunting as his hunger is massive. He can easily out-eat what all the Phantom Thieves usually consume in the span of a day.

When he blackmails the Thieves into Sae’s palace, he accompanies them but never transforms. He instead assists the team by shooting shadows or providing healing items.

Avatar form is identical to Loki, literally no notes needed, he’s beautiful.

Atma brand is on the back of his left hand. It’s a chained circle.

I won’t be writing about Kasumi/Sumire or Maruki in this post, as I want their whole shtick to be a surprise when I post the fic about them (also I… haven’t finished p5r… rip me I’ve had a VERY busy year).

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

229, which include any fic I've written going back to 2002. About 30 of those works are vids instead.

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

1,518,992! I just passed the 1.5mil mark with my last fic, and am very pleased with that. Especially because I remember only passing the 1mil mark early on in TOG fandom, so I've written quite a lot of those words just in the past few years. (By my standards, at least, that's a lot!)

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Many. I am very multifannish at heart. I tend to settle into one primary fandom for a few years at a time, but even then, I'm still writing the occasional oneshot for random other fandoms. Most recent primary fandoms were The Old Guard and X-Men, most recent fic posted was for Heartstopper (and I'll likely linger in that fandom for a bit now that I'm here).

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Logical Deduction (HP, Remus/Sirius) - a very silly fic from 2006 that has, to my mild dismay, somehow risen the kudos ranks (6245 kudos?!) by virtue of the sheer enormity of HP fandom. So it goes.

it's like one of us woke up (X-Men, Charles/Erik) - XMFC canon divergence / fix-it fic. I'm still unsure why this is my most popular Cherik fic, but I'm not mad about it.

she's the one that they call old whatsername (Star Trek AOS, Kirk/Spock) - my only non-crossover Trek fic, and always-a-girl!Kirk to boot. I do love this one, still.

The Pond Continuum (Doctor Who, Amy/Rory) - in which Amy and Rory unwittingly encounter various other companions as they live out their post-Doctor life on the slow path. I am fond.

life is very long (Old Guard, Nicky/Joe) - my first TOG fic, posted like a week after the movie hit fandom like a ton of bricks, and reaping the kudos benefits of being in the right place at the right time. It was a good entry point into a new fandom for me, for sure!

I do love that my top 5 are all completely different fandoms; that feels very reflective of me as a writer. (Top 6, actually, since #6 is MCU.)

5. Do you respond to comments?

Yes, always, if only with a quick thanks. Because I really appreciate receiving them, and want the commenters to know.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

The angstiest ENDING? I have to dig deeper into the past for those, because I was more prone to writing them when I was much younger. These days, while I do enjoy a bit of angst along the way, I NEED a happy ending. Probably one of my old Remus/Sirius fics, but I'm not going trawling for a link now.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Most of them, lately. I need to believe in happiness. Fandom is my escapism from an increasingly grimdark reality.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Very rarely, fortunately. Let's keep it that way. The backbutton is right there if you don't like any of my fics, no hard feelings.

9. Do you write smut?

Not really? Sex scenes, yeah, sometimes, but I've only got 4 fics (out of 229) rated as Explicit, and honestly, glancing over them now, they probably only really warrant an M rating. I have no interest in describing bits and bodily fluids in graphic detail, I don't personally find that sexy. But sex is a significant element of human connection for many folks, so yeah, I'll include it where it feels appropriate.

10. Do you write crossovers?

Yes, though I prefer fusions (characters from one verse written into another) to more literal crossovers (character A from fandom A meets character B from fandom B). But I've certainly written a few. They're fun!

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not to my knowledge.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes, several! I'm always excited and honored when that happens.

13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?

Nope, never. I'd be curious to try that out someday, though honestly, writing is such a private/internal activity for me that I'm not sure I'd be any good at it.

14. What is your all time favorite ship?

I do NOT play favorites in this way. I love all my OTPs in all their unique and individual ways, and I'll always happily revisit them years and years later (as a reader, at least). Here, let's just say that Mulder/Scully was my very first ever OTP, so they will always have a special place in my heart.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I've never abandoned a WIP once I've started posting it (though a couple took YEARS to finish, ugh), so really, now we're just looking at my personal WIP folder in gdocs. There are a few in there I'm sad about leaving unfinished. Um, let's go with an old Doctor Who/Torchwood fic, which I've got like 15k words written for but have long since moved on from. Every few years I'll dig it up and reread what I wrote and quietly mourn the fact that I never finished it, but there's no way I'll ever get back into that particular headspace (and the fandom is a very different place now).

16. What are your writing strengths?

Character voices. I'm a good mimic.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Sex scenes/action scenes. I despise writing these. Smut I avoid, but action scenes are sometimes necessary, and they drive me up a fucking wall.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language during a fic?

If it's just a few words/brief phrases sprinkled in, because that's how the character in question would speak, great. If there's extended dialogue - well, still depends on the character POV to me. If the character DOES speak the other language, I'd write it out in English (since that's the language I write fic in) and indicate through the narration that they're actually speaking Italian, or French, or what have you. If the POV character does NOT speak the language themself but is overhearing it, I don't include the dialogue at all, just narration to describe it. It's all about whose POV we're in and what's actually being understood, to me.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

X-Files. You will not find those fics on my AO3. I was very young then.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

NO FAVORITES. TOO MANY FICS. My most recent fic is usually my current favorite, anyway, so have one last plug for and we have all the time in the world (to get it right) if you're into Heartstopper, and let's move on. 😉

3. What fandoms do you write for? It's been Avatar the Last Airbender for the past few years. I have an old & probably not-good Rick & Morty fic up. Before that, I had some IT fics. I've got an orphaned fic for scream & one for house of 1000 corpses.

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

the benefits of getting a flat tire this is Zuko running away from home & running right into the gaang - also uncovering some family mysteries & reconciling with Azula. modern au. it's Zukka & aw I'm nostalgic for those early days of mine in the fandom

if this were a movie this is basically an ATLA Hollywood Au. Zukka & Azutara. Past Jetko. I was happy with some of the dramatic moments in this fic.

not another high school au lord help me lmao. I'm SO sorry if you are reading this & you happen to love this fic but it's not the thing I'm most proud of. this is basically just me dipping my toes into writing ATLA modern AUs & in that sense I guess it's nostalgic? this is the fic I wrote as a newbie to the fandom just trying it out & I still do lovingly appreciate everyone who was kind & welcoming in those early days!

six feet under ATLA TVD AU MY BELOVED OMG. this is a vampire diaries au. there are no 1:1 translations but azula is damon, katara is a mix of jeremy & elena & so is sokka, zuko is stefan & YEAH. also aang is bonnie & iirc I probably even gave toph something fun to do. ozai is Katherine which is forever hilarious to me. yeah, this was a fun fic.

5. in search of glorious happenings of happenstance this fic is about nothing & everything at the same time. atla/modern world fusion with the four nations existing but also it's modern. all the atla teens/kids are going to college at ember island university & the fic takes place across a year. it's slice of life, comedy, drama, & chaos. lots of ships but I think azutara & jet/zuko/jin are probably, at the end of the day, the romances that are at the heart of this story although platonic relationships are also pretty important in this fic, IMO as much as romances. it's probably my magnum opus or something.

Do you respond to comments? yes <3 I am sometimes slow & I am not perfect but I TREASURE comments & do attempt to let people know as much. I write for myself, I post for the connections I make along the way.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? the devil you know for sure. this is my atla/scream modern au. I talk about it constantly because I'm so insanely proud of it but if you don't know it's exactly what it sounds like. it's horror & tragedy that I feel really proud of & I do think those elements are at the heart of my writing passion despite me usually being a bit nervous about using them. so. I'm proud of this fic. & it has a very bittersweet ending but the tragedy is...there's a lot of tragedy. no more spoilers because I want people to read this!

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? most of my fics have decently happy endings despite me claiming to prefer tragedy lol. I seem to recall the things we leave behind (mailee youtuber au with jetko & auztara. & they were roommates!) having a tooth rottingly fluffy ending lol

8. Do you get hate on fics? not really. it's happened before but it's not a big thing.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? sometimes I write the smutty scenes from my fics then save it only for myself. no you can't see. it's probably terrible. there's some shitty zucest smut of mine out there somewhere but I'm not sure it's any good & couldn't tell you where to find it lol

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I think the AUs I write are called "fusion" because it's more "inserting characters into another world & the characters of that world aren't a thing." but my fic the balance of things was actually a crossover with characters from both wizards of waverly place & atla interacting. also I wrote THIS one-shot that's a crossover between the game the coffin of andy & leyley & the show wizards of waverly place. I didn't post it on ao3 but I'm just saying.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?  I don't think so?

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? I have vague memories of doing this with this girl I was online friends with back in my fanfic.net days, years ago. I think it was Destiel.

14. What’s your all-time favorite ship? to write? I don't have one right now. I think maybe I got kinda burnt out on everything having to be about one ship or whatever rather than just telling the story & maybe that's a small part of why I'm taking a temporary break from fic writing & focusing on an original story so I'm not staying within fandom approved in parameters & I can just do whatever feels right ya know? I like Cisne's answer about any willow ship tho. me with my faves tbh hehe

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? can't think of one but I can think of fanfic ideas I'd like to return to & fully realize after I get back in the mood

16. What are your writing strengths? I like to think I'm okay at characterization although moving away from fanfic & working on something original has me questioning myself constantly!
