All right. So, I had another PJO character essay in relation to my Bianca fic baking on my mind ever since the last one, so I guess I'll do it. This time, I wish to talk about King Minos.
King Minos is pretty much a straight-forward character: he's dead, he wants to come back to life through killing his bitter enemy. Sure, he'll scheme and backstab to achieve this goal, but this is pretty much his only motive. Well, aside from his weird sense of ownership over the Labyrinth.
His way to achieve his goal initially is manipulating Nico into trading a life for a life, then hijacking the process and reviving himself. Technically we don't know if he always intended to sell him to the Titan army, as that could be a last resort due to Nico losing his motivation for even attempting the trade.
In our alternative universe, though, he has the problem that Nico's motive is too fragile to begin with, as his sister is still alive even if he isn't aware of it. It's plausible that Minos is aware that Bianca is alive as a judge of the Underworld, in addition to the fact she's in "his" Labyrinth. Which leads us to the questions: why Nico? And could Minos potentially want to manipulate Bianca instead in this AU?
Well, Nico and Bianca certainly share parentage, which might be relevant. While we're told that trading a life for a life is possible, we're not told that it's possible for everyone. It's not impossible that it's essentially a special request from Hades ("you cannot offer your father a soul that will come to him eventually regardless. Besides, he is not keen on hastening his own son's death", roughly retranslated because I don't have the English version). At the very least, Hades needs to approve of the exchange - to a degree, as Minos still thinks he can cheat and be ressurrected himself. If that's th reason Minos stuck up with Nico then supposedly Bianca will fit him just as well.
But of coursse, that's not the case, is it. Nico has a couple of other parameters that make him more susceptible to manipulation: he's younger and he has someone he wants to ressurrect. We also don't know what Bianca's powers are, and it's not impossible that Nico, King of Ghosts, is actually more powerful than her - which jus makes him a better cunduit for Minos' ressurrection, if true. But we don't know anything about power levels and their relevance, and regarding Nico's young age and drive to attempt the trade - well, Bianca's amnesiac in my story. If Minos would succeeed in convincing her that Nico is dead, he could possibly drive her to doing what he wants... maybe. We really don't know if Bianca would've done such a thing to Nico. Maybe so, maybe not. And I kind of get to decide. But to be honest, Nico is already a step closer than her, so he'll be Minos' first choice.
So, what I think would happen is Minos will do his best to keep Bianca away from Nico. And since I need someone to direct Bianca somehow, I just might give this role to Minos. We'll see about that.
There are quite a few things further down the line that make it problematic, though. I don't know, for example, how Minos might be able to avoid Having Nico summon his sister. In addition, without the Iris-net messages... How would Annabeth and Percy (and Grover and Tyson) react to meeting Nico? Would they still attempt to convince him to give up on ressurrecting Bianca? Would they have a chance of success without being able to talk to Bianca herself?
I also have a slight problem with Minos I wish to address. Namely, the fact that after all that, after literally selling his boss' child to the Titans, he's still a judge in the Underworld! Guys, he literally supported a rebellion/the other side of a war. And he's kept as a judge? People like that are generally thrown to Tartarus and given appropriate punishment in accordance to their sin. Why in Hades would they let this guy stay a judge?
(I do have a weird excuse about how there might be two Minos spirits, one that is his immortal side from Zeus who gets to judge people and one who is actually a mortal ghost that didn't cross the Styx due to not having a coin and is now a restless dead watching over the Maze. However, that is a crack theory and makes as much sense as the theory I just invented about Kronos causing the regeneration of monsters by being cut to pieces in Tartarus: both are uncontradictable by canon, but neither is likely to be true.)
Thank you for reading, and have a good day!

rehashing an old post but i think a lot about how in trying to absolve hunt instead of seriously addressing the power imbalance/impropriety of the relationship between him and the mc, pixelberry chose to make it so it’s the mc “pursuing” hunt and being really forceful about it. in this case, it’d be okay because it’s not him being weird and, well, the mc really, really wants this! this was not an well thought out decision because 1. it doesn’t remove the need to address a professor dating his student, and whatever that means for both parts + the story they’re in, and 2. in the process they make mc a person with no respect for boundaries who quite literally stalks this man and assaults him under false pretences. not to mention how the writing in these quests is confusing and contradictory (the mc is written in two different ways at different times, whatever the plot is in need). just… really bad on all fronts
#i still think they introduced bianca’s blackmail right after mc/hunt get together because they realised they now had#a professor (their most beloved character) dating one his students and that’s not a good look + they didn’t want to address it. and#i’ve always thought they had a hard time condemning hunt. lmao. plus the longer their relationship went on the more… dubious it made hunt’s#character. and this can’t happen. which is why in my opinion the entire plotline happens in the span of two weeks#which is of course bad writing but once again ill thought decision. they get exposed but they keep dating. that’s still a professor dating#his student (who is STILL in his classes for some reason) and the game keeps ignoring it.#you ruined your main character and wrote a really gross questline for nothing#edit. also. if this were in any other app (and not a kids game)#i don't even think they'd need to turn to the camera and say This Is Really Bad. they just had to address it and what it meant for the#story. you can write stories about a multitude of topics and you don't need to categorise things in good and bad. right or wrong.#that's not really compelling. but you need to think about the implications of said topics. which is something pixelberry actively avoided#doing here. sure hunt gets “punished” for dating mc but it's laughable and Nothing Really Happens. plus mc assaults him. can't forget that

Wednesday Goes Enid Hunting [Part 2]
Wenclair - Slight Yandere Wednesday Addams (She falls victim to the Addams' Curse) - Takes Place After The Crackstone Incident
Please Give Credit to @drunkenbartend for the idea for this part!
[Bianca and Yoko are walking around looking for Enid when the werewolf comes running around the corner with panic in her eyes and out of breath as she stops in front of the Siren and Vampire.]
Bianca: Enid, just the person we were looking for!
Enid (Panting - out of breath): Bianca! Please, you gotta help me! Please, use your voice to stop Wednesday!
Yoko (Raises an eyebrow): Whoa, calm down, pup. What the matter?
Wednesday (In the distance behind Enid): Run all you want, but hiding from me is futile, Cara Mia!
Enid (Grabs Bianca by her shoulders and shakes her slightly): Please, there's no time to explain! Please, help me and stop Wednesday!
[The Moment Wednesday comes into view - Enid is hiding behind Bianca and Yoko, trembling like a leaf while holding the Siren by the shoulders like a shield.]
Wednesday (Points the gun at Bianca): Hand over the wolf and I shall let you and the bloodsucker live, Barclay.
[After removing the necklace, Bianca starts using her voice to command Wednesday to lower the gun - The Addams' Heir slowly lowers the gun…before she starts chuckling to herself.]
Wednesday: You really thought that would work?
Enid/Bianca/Yoko (Shocked): What the?!
Wednesday: The Addams Family have trained for centuries to resist the Siren's Song - it has no effect on us but that was a nice try. (Point the gun at Bianca) Now, give me my wolf or I shall shoot.
Yoko: RUN, PUP! RUN!
[Enid turns tail and books it down the hall with wide eyes like a deer.]
Wednesday (Chasing her while bumping shoulders with Bianca and Yoko): YOU WON'T GET AWAY, ENID!
[Yoko and Bianca look at Wednesday chasing Enid into the forest before looking at each other.]
Bianca: Should... Should we help her?
Yoko: We're going to need some help.

Just bought Parachute Women, Elvis and Me, and My cousin Maria Schneider.
I enjoy reading about women who’ve faced tragedies and hardships but, despite it all, pushed through with influence. Behind every successful man is a smart, beautiful, and complex woman responsible for all his intriguing traits, yet she’s treated like garbage, ostracized, and cast aside. There’s something about a woman who says no, who rebels, who isn’t “ladylike”—people don’t like this energy in women, and it reveals the double standards compared to their male counterparts. We need more novels written by women about women. We need more of their brains, more of their laughter, tears, and passion. Creative, flawed, pioneering women—I need them. Give me more of them.

It makes me sad that there are no pictures of Mick with baby Karis… He did her and Marsha so, so wrong. I read somewhere that he had Karis with him once when she was a baby but gave all his attention to Jade. Nothing breaks my heart more than a child being ignored or abandoned. He didn’t get involved in Karis’s life until she was 12, although I’ve seen some pictures of her with him when she was younger than that. However, she’s always next to someone else, not him—like the photo of Karis in the hammock with Jerry or the one of Mick outside his mansion, with Marsha holding Karis in the background, looking neglected (that photo makes me so sad).
I always wonder why he treated Marsha and Karis so terribly, especially since he asked Marsha to have the baby. Was it because Karis was a girl? If so, that’s strange, considering he didn’t have a son until he was with Jerry. Mick seems close to Karis now, but I wonder if she ever resented him for how he treated her back then.

This photo is claimed to be of Karis and Mick — I'm not 100% sure but apparently it is! Jade's eyes are lighter and this is definitely early 70s, so if this is one of Mick's daughters and it's not Jade, it's probably Karis. Just saying this because I don't know where the photo came from but even Dailymail says this is Karis.
Hey anon, I have answered similar asks that you can check out: here, here and here. Please check them out, but just to further complete these asks I will add more things here.
Marsha told me that one of the reasons that she had Karis was that Mick was so unhappy about losing me and everything falling apart, he wanted a baby, that he felt that might give him some sense of solidity again. And that is why she had the child — yes, she told me that herself.
Marianne Faithfull to A. E. Hotchner, The Rolling Stones and the Death of the Sixties.
That's what Marianne said to A. E. Hotchner in the 80s, but she left it out of her autobiography in the 90s. There are no further details of this conversation between her and Marsha. Marsha also left this out of her autobiography, whether intentionally or because the conversation only happened after publication I don't know.
"I love my daughters," declared Jagger. "But there's nothing like having a first son." Concurred Jerry: "He's crazy about his girls, but to be honest, a fourth daughter would have been a real disappointment. Mick's so English, you know."
Christopher P. Andersen, Jagger Unauthorized.
So, this alleged statement was made after the birth of Jerry and Mick's son, James (Jerry was pregnant with twins, but one died in her womb when it was approximately 5 months old). Christopher P. Andersen doesn't say the source of those quotes and I don't know where it's from, so be careful. BUT, my opinion is that there is a good chance that this is true. I kind of believe in the probability of it.
I agree that the whole situation is very cruel and that sexism played a part in it — there are so many quotes from different people talking about Mick being too "englishman" back then.
Concurred [Bebe] Buell: "He loved [Bianca] so much more than he admitted. Mick was a very traditional Englishman when it came to his marriage. He wanted her to stay home and take care of the kids while he did what he pleased."
-
"There was definite competition between Bianca and Mick," said a mutual friend. "She was definitely the queen at Studio 54, and Mick resented being upstaged. If Bianca was not going to stay at home and cook and raise Jade, then at least Mick wanted her to have a job. He thought Bianca was a dillettante.
Christopher P. Andersen, Jagger Unauthorized.
Thanks so much for the ask! I love chatting about this. All hyperlinks lead to posts where this quote has already been mentioned.

The problem is not deffending Marsha or that rockstars also wanted, hooked up with and dated black women. No one is saying anything against that fact, but the problem is when women are pit against eachother degrading then for their sex life, addictions, mistakes and even body shame them (sbrown82 have made fun of Bianca, Anita and Mick's children excep Karis in that way) while claiming others are much better or superior than them. Which is what sbrown82 has done a lot and i think thats the criticism itself. It all reeks of closet fan vibes and self-projection.
You say no one is against them hooking up with black women or having a relationship with them but Marsha is always getting criticized or degraded because of it. No one acknowledges her accomplishments in life, she was an actress and rockstar before meeting Mick, yet everyone has these racist things to say about her. Anita always getting called this “goddess” and saying all these great things about her but never acknowledges the wrongs she does in life. Marianne is the “survivor” or “icon or legend” but never acknowledges her wrong doings either, everybody pretty much ignores the bad things she’s done. Bianca is this “fashion icon” or “disco queen” but never acknowledges her stank attitude towards Marsha for no reason or the fact that she knew about the situation between Marsha and Mick and decided to make rude comments towards Marsha instead of her own husband. Where’s the appreciation for Marsha in a positive light? She was in several movies and minding her own business and then Mick came into her life. And whatever Sbrown82 is saying on her blog is her personal opinion, why can’t she have her own opinion on these women everyone else does? And I hate the fact that people only have this concern when Anita, Marianne, & Bianca is concerned where is that same energy when racist fans are calling Marsha names for NO REASON.

So. I am not immune to peer pressure, sadly.
You'd think it means I'm going to be writing a continuation of the Camp Nephilim story, since it's my most upvoted post. Sadly, you'll be wrong. I do not actually have characters or a story there. Feel free to take on this idea and use it in your fanfics, if you want. You might need to remember that it's partially a crossover with an Israeli book, but the most you need to know is: there are Jewish demons, Shedim, going around (along with many other types of demons, really). The details are based on the Talmud, Midrashim and various other Jewish sources about demons, so you can read up on that if you want to take it into account.
So, not Camp Nephilim. Instead, I found that the numbers Percy Jackson seems to make persuaded me to go a little more forward with my Bianca lives fic idea. As is my wont with it, I'm trying to explore the most loyal to canon option, which is why Bianca is still a Hunter of Artemis. She is also, as obligated, lost.
Now, I already wrote a post on it, linked here. I also started rereading the original series as preparation and may have a few notes about the Titan's Curse. However, right now I want to talk about Clarisse La Rue and her own diving into the labyrinth!
Before I continue, @demigodsanswer has posted their own headcanon for what happened. I'm not using that because I discovered it's kind of contradicted by canon, but it's still a good take on it, so I recommend you read it. It reminded me of just how scared Clarisse should be in it as well.
First thing first: continuity. If you actually consider the timeline of PJO, you'll find that Clarisse actually found Chris Rodriguez wandering the desert at the same summer of her quest. Funnily enough, it's also the same summer Percy and Annabeth saw him on the Princess Andromeda. This slightly messes with the timeline, but considering how compressed the book is, it's not really that bad. As far as we know, Luke sent Chris on his merry way before he even caught Percy and Co. in Miami. Meaning, when he first sent scouts to the Labyrinth, Luke was hoping to ressurect Kronos with the Golden Fleece, which is actually an irrelevant detail but whatever.
Either way, the book says Chris was found in full Greek armor, wandering by Clarisse's mother's house, mumbling something about a string. There are multiple options to what that might mean. The first is that, even though she's a year-round camper, Clarisse chose to go back to her mother's house for some time. Likely only on a visit, otherwise her brother would've said she went home after her quest. Obviously Rick was using it for forshadowig purposes, but still. Another option for who found Chris would be Clarisse's mother - who might be one of the mortals able to see through the Mist. I think the first option makes more sense, though.
So, Clarisse just went back home after her first quest. Note, I'm assuming it's her first because there were no quests between Luke's and Percy's and I believe Clarisse isn't old enough to have been on one prior to Luke. She definitely saw the quest as a way to prove herself to her father, but we don't really know about her mother (unless you go by another post from Demigodsanswer. She apparently has a thing for Clarisse, I don't know if she has similar entries for other side characters). Maybe she feels like she needs to prove something to her as well and thought that now she did. Maybe she wanted to relax after a stressful quest. Maybe a near-death experience caused her to want to reconnect, we seriously have no idea why she's a year rounder and it could be she doesn't like her mother.
So, Clarisse is in Phoenix when a guy she new from camp suddenly appears, talking about a string. She already knows Chris is with Luke, I assume - Percy probably informed Camp on that. So now she has a madman on her hands... And here continuity problems start to pile up.
Annabeth said that Clarisse found Chris "last summer", in BotL. This is essential, because a. Chris hadn't met Dionysus at all until the end of BotL, even though Mr. D was only sent on his super important mission after the winter solstice, and b. Annabeth said she helped Clarisse in her mission. Clarisse was on her mission during tTC, when Annabeth was abducted by Dr. Thorn. The latter isn't that much of a problem, though - it's very likely that Annabeth helped Clarisse research before delving into the labyrinth. Actaully, her absence throughout the book helps explaining how come she never told Percy about it at all until BotL - she seriously didn't have time even if she wanted to. The former, however, indicates that Clarisse couldn't have left Chris at camp until after her mission was over. In hindsight, this might be why Demigodsanswer chose to portray finding Chris as happening after the Winter Solstice, while Clarisse's exploration of the Labyrinth and the reasearch occured earlier. It does create a wench in the cause-and-effect cycle, but it solves the problem of how come Dionysus only met crazy Chris at the end of BotL.
All that doesn't really lead us anywhere, so... let's see, what canon explanation could be found for not bringing Chris to camp for three months, while not contradicting canon in every way? Honestly... I don't know. Maybe... maybe Clarisse thought they might execute Chris as a traitor? Maybe Chris was somehow in an untransportable state for over three months? Maybe Clarisse thought she might need his help in the Labyrinth, for some reason? Otherwise... I mean, Chiron seemed to believe - rightly - that Dionysus could heal Chris. Why wouldn't Clarisse think that feasible, and thus want to bring Chris over to Dionysus? It's not like he regularly threatens to turn campers into dolphins. He only done so in extreme situations.
For whatever reason, though, Clarisse doesn't bring him back to camp. Maybe she goes back herself, or contacts Annabeth via Iris-Net. I think it's safe to assume she took some time to research before entering. We only know of two enterances she knew of, though it's not impossible to assume that she went through some others. She was alone, however - right after her quest, which she also went on alone - and she got lost there.
I don't know how long she was there, or what she encountered - but whatever it is, she probably told Annabeth about it, and it scarred her. And of course, that is what actually is relevant to our story.
If you've read my original stream-of-thought post about the Bianca is alive fic, you might remember I suggested having Bianca team up with Luke's people. The main reason I had for that is that I wanted Bianca to have some parallels to Atalanta, and two of her central myths are about groups of people she went on quests with: the Calydonian Boar hunt and the Argonauts. So, I wanted to try and team Bianca up with someone. Luke's army seemed a more likely place to have misogyny trouble, but that would be really stupid. After all, every soul joining them brings them a step closer to bringing Kronos back. Clarisse, on the other hand, is exactly the sort of person to be angry over having the glory stolen from her. I did realize that I can't actually have Bianca join a large group, because Luke explicitly says that larger groups tend to have more trouble, which is why he sent lone scouts.
So, I formed in my head a general idea of Bianca and Clarisse meeting and how it would go. Part of the idea includes Bianca killing the Calydonian boar - only for some reason, at this point, Clarisse thinks the boar was sent by Ares to help her, as his sacred animal. I was somewhat hesitant about it after realizing how desparate she's going to be - but honestly, at this point her desparation would probably lead to her going off the hinges attempting to kill Bianca. Hmm. So yeah, I might be going with that. It'll also fit the theme of Cadmus, to a certain degree. Clarisse would fail killing Bianca, of course, though I'm not sure exactly how. We'll see.
I do think I really need to plan the Minos parts first, though. He's a secret power behind things at this point, and considering Binca's life effect on Nico's plotline at the time... This needs some pondering.
Anyway, thank you for reading! Have a good day!

Wednesday Goes Enid Hunting [Part 3]
Wenclair - Slight Yandere Wednesday Addams (She falls victim to the Addams' Curse) - Takes Place After The Crackstone Incident
Once Again, please give credit to the awesome @drunkenbartend for the inspiration for this part! They are a true genius!
[When moment Wednesday and Enid are out of sight, Bianca and Yoko run to Enid and Wednesday's Dorm Room in Ophelia Hall - How to stop an Addams? With Addams' Aid! Upon entering the room, Bianca and Yoko sport the Crystal Ball Wednesday used to contact her parents and walk over to it.]
Yoko (Tapping the surface of the crystal ball): Just how the hell do we use this thing? There are no buttons on it or anything.
Bianca (Searches up 'How to use a Crystal Ball'): It says to swipe left.
[Yoko swipes left on the surface of the crystal ball - the ball glows for a while before the face of Morticia Addams appears in the ball.]
Morticia: Greetings, and who might you two be?
Yoko: Are you Morticia Addams? (Gets smacked upside the head by Bianca) OW!
Bianca: Of course, she's Morticia Addams, show some darn respect! (Looks at Morticia) Please forgive us for contacting you out of nowhere but we need some help with your daughter. She's currently...
[The door opens: Divina walks in, completely out of breath before closing the door behind her.]
Divina: I got your text, Yoko. Sorry I'm late, I had to save my dumbass brother.
Yoko: What happened to him?
Divina: Wednesday tried to drown him in the fountain.
Yoko (Raises an eyebrow): Can you actually drown a siren?
Bianca: Focus, please. Mrs. Addams, we need your help with Wednesday.
Morticia: Oh? What is my little storm cloud doing that requires aid from her mother?
Yoko: Long story short? She is hunting Enid for sport and threatening anyone who tries to help her.
Morticia (Sighs): Ah yes, young love.
Divina/Bianca/Yoko: What do you mean by 'young love'?
Morticia: Allow me to explain, little ones: Wednesday has fallen under the grasp of the Addams Curse and all she wants is the one of her choosing, which in this case is Ms. Enid Sinclair. Wednesday informed her father and me of her plans to capture Enid a week ago and bring her here to Addams Manor for the break. She doesn't want her little wolf to go to a place where she isn't appreciated.
Yoko: Well, that explains why Wednesday is hunting Enid. How do we stop her?
Morticia: To catch an Addams, you need to think like an Addams.
Divina: How?
Morticia: Well...
