I didn’t need to spend so much screentime on Titania fight, yet it was a fun personal challenge. I’d never written/drawn a cohesive fight scene before. The scripted ingame instances don’t leave much room for imagination, I wanted to stay away from the fourth wall, and make up a more immersive scene. How do you even make it look mildly interesting? You’d think, well, characters will just flail at each other until one of them dies, right?

So yeah the biggest challenge was creating the ebb and flow. What affects Vivi’s actions? Why wouldn’t he just murder Titania like any other opponent, and be done with it? I threw in a generous amount of inner pov (that I previously used very sparingly) and some silly tricks. The stakes are high, yes, it’s a Lightwarden vs WoD encounter, but Titania still retains their playful personality above all else. Vivi's here just to do his job, but he also knows that he's dealing with a fae.

The msq makes Titania stand out among other wardens, I capitalized on that and hc’d that they’re important to Feo Ul, and, by proxy, to Vivi. That instantly provided some emotional stakes, and an answer to why he doesn’t rush to kill them out of the door.

Vivi enters the castle in episode 35, and mostly runs in circles, analyzing his enemy, and even falls victim to illusions. This could’ve been it for him, but I daresay it worried none of us because we’re just at the beginning of a story about this guy, he’s THE guy in this universe not for no reason, he’ll manage.

No deep meaning behind "grasshopper", I just thought it's a bizarrely precise descriptor of both Vivi's long legs and dragoon jumps, and it fits the natural theme of the fight.

Vivi didn’t go in unprepared.

He always, always doubts everything, especially when it comes to his level of power. Self-nerfing. A light (heh) case of an impostor syndrome.

Everyone loved the bonk for meme reasons, Vivi simply bought himself some time to cast.

The Rainbow Sparkles of Believing in Yourself! And of something else, perhaps. I’m planting quite a bit of stuff for future, this one should take a mere year or so to pay off.

I hope this pose’s enough of a hint that you shouldn't be taking episode 37 too seriously.

Yes, he used his spear to ~cast~. And took a sailormoon pose. This's his, monoclass dragoon’s, interpretation of what the caster magic’s probably like.

Offscreen, Titania comes to their senses and shrills “so you wanna play rough?!”, Vivi ignores them, concerned with only one thing: did he succeed? How did the test of his custom spell go?

It only worked out because the both of them are idiots.

I like to emphasize that Fragments isn’t about retelling the msq, or big epic battles, but here, where I actually put my heart into it, I feel like I managed to pull off at least one epic beat you’d typically see in an action-focused comic. Super proud of this panel ;w;

So, to recap. Vivi asks Titania if they miss the night sky. They do. Vivi brings the night sky to them, and lo, something actually happens. I illustrated this “something” as one of their eyes getting sort of cleansed here. This story suddenly takes a mahou shoujo (shounen, heh) turn, I appreciate that it may cause some eyebrows to raise, but I think it’s okay to take creative liberties like this in a story themed around identity, agency, and believing in yourself. If Titania’s so strong as to retain a tiny bit of their old self, to cohesively partake in a simple convo, then why can’t they return, even if for a brief moment, given the proper assistance.

An appropriate reaction to the wild bs that’s going on. Imagine inventing the tale of WoD in the First, only to witness THIS.

As about Vivi, he can save a soul when he genuinely cares for it. We haven’t seen him do this before. He does it for Feo Ul explicitly, implicitly as a self-reflection. He’s projecting so hard after realizing that Titania looks like him. He wishes for them what he'd wish for himself: to rest, to be treated with care and consideration. They don't only look like him, they're also unfree, tortured by something. Empathy or not, this’s the kindest fight Vivi’s ever fought.

I’m iffy about the canon talents that come with the Echo. You can understand any sentient creature, okay. What happens when you speak, does the other party feel the difference between that soulspeak and their native tongue? Does it feel off? Does it offend? I incorporated my own misgivings into Vivi’s thoughts about his Echo. He doesn't use soulspeak here out of respect and concern that Titania might not react well to it, throwing the entire plan out of the window. Thus he memorized quite a bit of fae words before the fight. This’s his way to mark himself as one of their people, or at least to show that he truly cares.

Embracing his new duty, and possibly giving Titania the hug they deserve.

Look HE’S OKAY. For now. I just thought the hiccup would be a cute way to acknowledge the terrible power he’s just absorbed. The canon cutscene moves on unblinking, but here’s different.

Bracing himself for confrontation. Things might go awry. Or might not. Vivi doesn't know. Worst case scenario: this’s the end of his sweet lil friendship with Feo Ul. Do they like him, or a Titania-lookalike in him?

“Oh bugger...” big pets come with big responsibilities, my dear Feo Ul.

Just to reinforce his fae-ness.

Vivi had full control in this fight. Analyzed the enemy, successfully tested some crazy tricks, managed to have a heart-to-heart that resulted in getting a permission to kill Titania not with violence, but with mercy. So much could’ve gone wrong, but just didn’t. Vivi’s used to this, even if he constantly doubts everything, this’s how it always goes. He’s being flung at tasks with abysmal odds, somehow he emerges victorious.

I just like this panel so much okay.

This arc may feel slow, but it gives depth to Vivi and Feo Ul's relationship, and seeing them together in later episodes will spark even more joy.

Even after a warm moment they’d just shared, Vivi’s still wary. I broke out an analysis of what external influence, pressure to change means to him, please read this post if you missed it. YEAH TAGS AS WELL.

His expression here is an attempt to downplay the anxiety and swing the odds in his favor. What if Feo Ul insists and throws a tantrum? What if he has to become Titania right now, and there’s no way around this? Let’s make puppy eyes just incase, maybe that helps.

One more personal fav panel. There’s SO MUCH in this look. They’re on a threshold, about to become something else on Vivi’s behalf. Because they love him so much. They’ve instantly become friends because they don’t want anything from each other, just the company. Feo Ul’s such a breath of fresh air for Vivi, a new hope in a new world, where he’s (comparatively) a nobody, where people still have the potential to love him for who he is as a person. This’s why our crimson pixie gets so much screentime.

The next few episodes wrap up the Il Mheg arc, and focus on good vibes and celebration. ShB follows a rollercoaster formula where it makes you smile at something nice and sweet only to whack you in the face right after, and I’m trying to do the same :3c

Y/N couldn’t stop Mamoru from whisking him away on the ballroom floor, and frankly he didn’t want him to. With this kind of atmosphere—drinks, playful chatter, romance—it aided in lifting Y/N’s stress from having dealt with more enemies sent by Queen Baryl. The other sailors were either on the sidelines talking, getting a drink, or dancing with another guy. Y/N hoped Mamoru wasn’t too uncomfortable with their close proximity; he always enjoyed Mamoru’s, but sometimes he wished that Mamoru would just press his hands further into his skin and lean in and—“Y“/N, your feet are a little wobbly; do you need to rest?” His voice pushed Y/N out of his thoughts. The sailor-soldier might have had a bit of a long walk from school to his house thanks to missing the bus; mixed in with the fighting earlier sure exhausted him. He nodded, and Mamoru took him out to the balcony.

“Hm, a full moon…” Y/N pointed out as he looked up to the sky, he sat on the stone bench beside Mamoru on the balcony. “Full moon again? It must be a blue moon.” Mamoru gazed up at the moon as well, and Y/N couldn’t miss the twinkle in his eyes even through his mask…

His mask sure made him look familiar.

Y/N’s eyes widen a tad, but he doesn’t let Mamoru see when he turns his gaze back to the man beside him. “How have you been recently?… You seem more tired than usual, even for an airhead like you.” He teased, and Y/N huffed, “I’m fine; I missed the bus earlier, and I was, uh, working out as well.” He said quickly, trying to ignore the way his heart seemed to beat faster with each of Mamoru’s words. Mamoru raised his eyebrows and smirked, “Working out? You must fit in with the other dumbbells.” He chuckled, and Y/N wasn’t mad as soon as he heard that laugh, and it caused his face to warm and pinken in a soft blush. Mamoru stopped when he saw the look in Y/N’s eyes and the new color on his face; Mamoru was starting to think that Y/N was even cuter like this, with that look of fondness and adoration in the smaller man’s eyes. He coughed a little, and the air around them fell silent, save for the party that was inside, and they both looked away from each other.

“Mamoru?…” Y/N spoke up, his tone indicating that he was a little nervous. He looked up at Y/N as he rubbed the back of his neck. “Yeah?” Y/N bit his lip in contemplation. ‘Just ask him out!’ His thoughts shouted at him. “Have you ever dated a guy before?” ‘NO, that wasn’t what I was supposed to say!’ Y/N felt the awkward question leave his mouth along with any moisture left in it. Mamoru’s eyes widened, and he started to smile again. “No… But— He took Y/N’s hand in his. “It’s you, and I don’t care much about your gender… Sailor Moon. Y/N let out a small gasp and abruptly stood, Mamoru following suit. “It—it is you! That's why you look so familiar with that mask.” Y/N’s smile soon took over his lips, and he hugged Mamoru tightly. The taller man held him as well and ran a hand through Y/N’s silky hair, a feeling of déjà vu washing over them both, no doubt from a millennia ago on the moon.

"In the Name of the Moon" is a legacy challenge that is inspired heavily by Sailormoon! I love sailormoon and have noticed a bunch of other simmers also love this magical story, so I thought I'd write up a lil challenge to add some new and creative way to play your sims!

Each generation has a challenge that matches the sailor scout the generation is based off of. It is up to you on whether or not you'd like to try them, but I thought it would be a fun way to add some drama or help you in story creation.

Sega Saturn - Sailor Moon Super S

Title: Sailor Moon Super S / 美少女戦士セーラームーンＳＳ Various Emotion

Genre: 2D Fighting Action

There were many Sailormoon games for the 16-bit systems which were all pretty bad and even an arcade game which was also pretty bad by arcade standards, but none were as bad as this Saturn game. What the hell was Angel (Bandai) thinking with this one? It has the potential to be at least a half-decent fighter but they somehow managed to fuck it all up.

Let's start with the pros of the game. It has a full original voice cast. Some pretty good anime scenes made just for the game. Decent enough music for a Sailormoon game and many characters.

Now the cons. The background images are pretty lame. The characters look like shit when not moving thanks to really piss poor CG renders. The characters look even worse, almost comical in fact when they move. Almost no animation whatsoever. Awful speech samples that sound like they were ripped from the Super Famicom games. Unresponsive controls. Laughable moves and to top it all off it's incredibly easy.

As you can see the cons easily outweigh the pros. I have no idea why Angel (Bandai) decided to use rendered character sprites over actual drawn sprites. The renders look so bad it's unbelievable. Sometimes half the characters don't even walk straight!! They sort of bob up and down when walking thanks to the poor animation. As far as I remember the Super Famicom Sailormoon SuperS was pretty bad but nowhere near as bad as this heap. Avoid at all costs unless you're a crazy collector like me or a Sailormoon fanatic.

At least the game comes on a color printed disc.

So I have this very cheesy thing I do when someone wrongs me or someone in my life or committed a great injustice a monologue will form in my head of telling them about their wrongdoing who they hurt and why they’re awful etc etc in a very like almost cheesy a superhero-ish. I speculate it’s because of the formative influence of superhero media and ESPECIALLY Batman media in my life. I was thinking of what superhero characters do this as much as Bruce and I realized since I was watching sailor moon today that while it’s usually a bit different in word choice in tone Sailor Moon actually fits the bill!!!

It would be one very fun and funny team up to watch :3

The Toonami Trending Rundown for June 15-16, 2024. We reach the halfway point of My Adventures with Superman season 2 as Clark reunites with his long-lost cousin Kara. And among other great moments, we’re coming down the stretch with three more episodes of Zom 100’s first season after this week, as Akira returns home to his family; while Usopp and the Dwarves attack Sugar to try and stop her control of the toys.

For this week’s trending on Saturday, #Toonami trended in the USA on Twitter alongside My Adventures with Superman and Zom 100. No trends for Toonami Rewind on Friday were spotted this week.

While there have been rumors and inclinations from Adult Swim that they do plan on producing a second season of Ninja Kamui, there is no official word on whether a second season is presently in production at this time. In a since-deleted news release by Business Wire, the article included a passage signifying that a second season of Ninja Kamui was in the works, saying ““NINJA KAMUI” anime series has become the most viewed anime ever in the history of both Adult Swim & MAX,” said Joseph Chou, CEO of Sola Entertainment. “We hope this game will continue to entertain the fans around the world while we work on Season 2 of the anime.””

However, Jason DeMarco has denied such an announcement, saying that “A second season has not been announced.” Chou later clarified to Anime News Network on Wednesday: “that the game's PR staff inserted the quote about Sola Entertainment "working on" a second season. While he said that they are considering new ideas, "there is nothing official at all."”

Next month, the block will be in a bit of a transition period as both Zom 100 and My Adventures with Superman will be completing their respective seasons on July 6 and July 20th respectively. For the nights of July 13 and 20th, both One Piece and Demon Slayer will have doubleheaders on the lineup on 12:30-1:30 a.m. and 3-4 a.m. respectively. Furthermore, on July 27, which ironically enough is Comic-Con week this year, My Adventures with Superman will be getting a marathon of all 10 episodes of its second season, a week after its season finale.

Munto, small rant, spoilers

The fandom is probably DEAD-dead (if it ever really existed at all), but I really think Kyoani fumbled the ball on the third arc of this series.

Honestly the whole series works off vibes rather than logic, but at least it made some sense until the third arc. - Like... Ichiko / Suzume, what was your plan really when you climbed the Ferris wheel... Like... Yumemi jumped off the wheel cause Munto was gonna catch her, all that's gonna catch you two is the hard, cold, unfeeling ground. How have y'all survived till 14 yo?? - Also, the worldbuilding is just plain... I mean, it's not ridiculous per se but also yes it pretty much is. Like, ok, there's this race of beings who can use human thoughts / emotions / spirit as magical energy with no seeming cost to the humans themselves. Cool, it's virtually a free, infinite energy glitch. And then, these mighty beings chooses to...... Destroy / trample over the source of their power themselves. =w= Absolute big-brain move, 10/10, braincells are clearly on vacay. - Besides which... I cannot see this ending well. Absolute power corrupts, and Munto / Yumemi aren't going to be around forever. Who's to say that in one or two generations, the Heavenly People won't grow conceited in their power again and just restart the whole damned cycle?

I get that Yumemi is 14 yo and probably not really able to think things through yet, and props to Munto for not hiding the ugly truth of the Heavenly World from Yumemi (I'll give him a tentative pass for only revealing it after Yumemi is already safely in his grasp and doesn't really have anywhere to go other than to commit to the path, he was stressed for time all the while before). But also??????????

It's like taking out a small loan (everyone says Earth would be destroyed at the same time that the Heavenly World falls, but really all we've seen are some earthquakes from "rocks" falling from the sky), without worrying about what it could snowball into (possible enslavement of the entire human race, or full-out war between the humans and the heavenly people). Like... ????????

- Not even getting into the whole "as long as I believe in it, the world will become more beautiful" thing... I mean... it's a shoujo anime so...

Probably a bunch of others but eh.

Also, in the grand scheme of things this is a tiny nitpick but I really did not enjoy Munto's design in the third arc. I know that the series was made over a long span of time and KyoAni's artstyle evolved over that period of time... But, mmm. Munto's design in the third arc wasn't kingly. He was princely. (A bit of a baka-ouji if I'm to be honest...)

VS Munto's design in the first and second arc, besides the painful choice in clothes (I guess they were trying to make him look space-age-y), the wildness of his features contrasted very nicely with the seriousness of his demeanor. Like, first two arcs, he felt like a king. A young, scrawny (malnutrition from lack of Akuto? is that why he shot up in height after a couple years in an Akuto-rich environment, LOL) and somewhat impetuous king, but there was this... heavy weight on his shoulders, which befit his backstory.

They tamed down both his wildness and his seriousness in the third arc, which really... Ok he really was a baka-ouji in the third arc. What was that deal with the sailor uniforms?? MY DUDE, HAVE YOU BEEN STUDYING HUMAN CULTURE BY WATCHING SAILORMOON?? WHY IS THIS FIGHTING ATTIRE IN YOUR BOOK???

I'm not going to lie, I still really love the Munto / Yumemi ship, this was one of my teenaged self's OTPs. Even now, with all the glaring plotholes, lack of worldbuilding, and just overly heavy exposition (they try to make use of a lot of parallel analogies but it comes across as teenage angsty drama... I'm old now I guess), I still really love their contrasting yet overlapping personalities.

We celebrated Azama's marriage and Rika's & Sawai's birthday this month 🎂💕 I'm happy that these celebrations keep continuing 🥰 Whenever there is a celebration for a Senshi, I also get many messages of congratulations from all kinds of people, so it doubly makes me happy too ☺️❤️ lol As I mentioned yesterday, it has been 20 years since the work where we all met, the live-action of "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon" began airing 🌙 It is thanks to this work, I got to meet my irreplaceable and most precious friends 💖💙❤️💚🧡 Even though 20 years have passed, I'm really happy that I can still get together and laugh with everyone I love like this 💕 Every time after we say bye-bye we still feel we haven't talked enough with each other, so we keep in touch all the time I told everyone that even though it's been 20 years "we've not changed all all (lol)", and then I shared my deeply felt "thank you♡" to everyone for having been with me without change all these times ☺️🧡 Congratulations to Kei-chan's debut's 20th anniversary & the release of her new photo book✨ Congratulations to Azama on her marriage💐 Rika and Sawai, even though it's a bit early, Happy birthday 🎂 I wanna be with you. Yesterday, we celebrated Sawai and Rika's birthdays & my marriage🥰 　 And what a special day! October 4th, Was the broadcast of the live-action Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon's 20th anniversary🌙 That day was also the 20th anniversary of Keiko's debut ❤️ 　 So it was a day of celebrations for many happy occasions 🥳 　 Though we are all steadily and admirably getting older, But through the connection inside us, we are still the same precious friends we have been since our teenage years. 　 And there are so many people who are still supporting us even after 20 years….I am so thankful for all of you ♡ 　 I thank you for your continued support moving forward!

1. How many works do you have on ao3? Only 12, because I am a baby writer.

2. What's your total ao3 word count? 86k

3. What fandoms do you write for? Winterbaron, or more accurately, Zemo/everyone

4. Top five fics by kudos: Let's do a top 3, since top 5 would just be like half my fics.

Something Sweet to Eat (142 kudos) Extremely underage Halloween fic, bunny boy Zemo shows up trick or treating at Bucky's house Adopt, Don’t Shop (123 kudos) Omegaverse, bratty teen Zemo is for sale at an Omega kennel and Alpha Bucky goes shopping Gift-Wrapped (113 kudos) This was the first fic I ever posted (just a few years ago) and I'm still pretty proud of it. Just a silly Winterbaron rimming PWP, but it's hot

5. Do you respond to comments? I try to, I always mean to, but I think I'm a bit behind right now. I know there are some amazing comments on Home to Me from last year that I still haven't replied to and I feel bad about it all the time.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Probably Under Lock and Key (what a mess we’ve made), the Heinrich/Helmut Zemo dadcest fic I wrote for @ex0rin where I followed her hurt/no comfort philosophy of leaving him on the floor crying.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I don't know if I really do happy endings? I have PWPs where the happy ending is they both come, if that counts. 😅 Let's say... Ink Kissed (with violent precision) where tattoo artist Bucky gives his client Zemo a dick tattoo, and Zemo ends up quite happy with the tattoo as well as the rest of the service.

8. Do you get hate on fics? I've only gotten one or two of the world's mildest hate comments. I guess my ships are sufficiently niche that no one cares about them.

9. Do you write smut? Yeah! Do I write anything other than smut? No.

10. Craziest crossover: I've only written one crossover, A Suitable Course of Treatment, Bucky Barnes/Laszlo Kreizler from The Alienist, which isn't crazy at all because as we all know, Laszlo has Zemo's face. (If it counts, I once started a Dir en grey x Sailormoon fic where the band members magically turned into Sailor Scouts, but I did not ever get far on it.)

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not to my knowledge.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Nope.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes, the aforementioned Adopt, Don’t Shop was co-written with @violenciorp and @tales-from-a-maphia-don, because Vio lovingly bullied us into it, despite me and Mel ostensibly not being into Omegaverse.

14. All time favorite ship? I've jumped ship a lot over the years, but it's gotta be Winterbaron, since this is the ship that finally got me writing and posting and getting really involved in a fandom.

15. What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will? The first serious attempt I made at writing in this fandom was this teen Zemo necrophilia thing, and I wrote the necro part but none of the plotty stuff leading up to it. I still dream of finishing it, in an abstract way where I have no motivation to ever work on it.

16. What are your writing strengths? I think I'm pretty good at rhythm and flow and making my prose sound musical? That's something I focus a lot on and I tend to read aloud while editing to make sure it sounds good to my ear.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? Probably plot and dialogue, and figuring out how to include technical details of things I know nothing about. But most of all procrastination, my arch-nemesis.

18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language? I personally avoid it, because I find it annoying to have to look up the translations in the middle of reading. I prefer to just say they're speaking in whatever language but write the dialogue in English.

19. First fandom you wrote in? J-rock RPF in the early 2000s, but I mostly just did a bit of RP and never got far with any fics I started.

20. Favorite fic you've written? Sometimes it feels like every new thing I post is my new favourite, haha. But I thiiiink my fave has been Something Sweet to Eat since I wrote it (the Halloween fic mentioned earlier), because it's probably the most self-indulgent thing I've written to date. I am truly the main audience for that fic and I'm very happy with it.

4. What piece of media inspired you the most?

Fanart.  There’s an extremely creative fandom out there, and I’m lucky enough to be able to virtually orbit some incredible artists who spark creativity and inspire me to add to the collective in my small way.

5. What fandom(s) did you write for this year?

Sailormoon.  It’s 2023 and it’s still the only fandom I’ve posted anything for.  

17. What were your go-to writing snacks?

Coffee!  Decaf more often than not. When I’m writing at a cafe, I usually go for something cold, like cold brew with sweet cream or something that looks more like a milkshake than a coffee.  If it’s my favorite local place, I’ll throw in an egg and cheese biscuit.  When I’m at home, it’s usually hot with a bit of flavored creamer.  (Of course coffee is a snack…)

21. Share your favorite piece of dialogue

This one is tough and I’m going to cheat a bit in a couple of ways.

Favorite that’s posted, because this was just fun: 

After a deep breath, Pluto put on a social smile and spoke evenly, “Hello.  I’m aware this is going to sound odd coming without any context, but I need you to put that creature down and move away quickly.  Please.”

Kaya huffed.  “Really?”

A small sigh escaped Pluto’s lips.  “This is a complicated matter that I lack the time to explain, but very much need to resolve.  Again, please, I need you to…”

“Okay, look,” interrupted Kaya, taking her finger from the kirkri and ignoring its protesting squeak.  She then held her hand up in a stop gesture.  “I’m not going to judge the cosplay.  We like dressing up sometimes in the mystery club, too, so I get it.  But there is a line, and running around in costume at 10 at night chasing harmless critter to play out your anime battle fantasy kinda crosses it.”

Pluto’s eyebrows rose.  She crossed her arms, letting her staff rest casually against her shoulder as she observed the kirkri grow more agitated because it couldn’t pull back Kaya’s finger.  With a slightly amused half-grin, she returned, “I’m not going to argue with you because, quite frankly, we don’t have time for it.  In about 30 seconds that ‘harmless critter’ is going to start shooting off sparks.  It will then grow to more than twice your height and attempt to steal away all of your life energy, leaving you a gray, empty husk.”

Kaya’s mouth dropped open.  “You… you really need to lay off the Saturday morning cartoons.  Being part of the anime club is all well and good, but you’re a university student, for pete’s sake.  And was that a dig at my height?”  Her indignance showed as she stood a little straighter.  “I may not be an Amazon in heels, but I am by no means sh… huh, what the…”

Favorite that isn’t posted yet (because I love Outers Family Stuff): 

The glass door sliding open brought Setsuna back to her present situation.  Haruka, her hair a bit tousled and the t-shirt covering her blue, turtle-print boyshorts a bit rumpled, dropped down into the chair across from her.  She took a long draw off her coffee before sighing and leveling her gaze at Setsuna.

“I rolled over this morning and came face-to-face with a miniature human calling me ‘Haruka-papa,’” she said flatly.  “When I planned out our date night yesterday, that was not how I was supposed to wake up.”

Setsuna chuckled.  “‘Setsuna-mama’ did throw me off a bit when I first heard it.  But Hotaru seems quite pleased with it given how many times she’s repeated it this morning.”

Haruka huffed, a corner of her mouth turning up and an amused glint in her eyes.  “You have no idea what you’ve actually done, do you?  Whatever this new evil is we’re fighting, it’s nothing compared to Michiru when she’s made up her mind she wants something.”  She laughed, the sound cheerful in the morning breeze.  “She’s never letting either of you go ever again.”

A tiny knock on the glass caused them both to turn around.  Hotaru pressed her hands and face against the glass, as though she were peering at them from a great distance.  Then she giggled and called out loudly so she’d be heard through a door she’d been told not to open on her own, “Haruka-papa!  Michiru-mama says to come get the first pancake!”

With a chuckle, Haruka rose from her seat.  “Glad to see my place hasn’t been completely usurped.”  She opened the door and ruffled the toddler’s hair before the girl ran out to Setsuna.

Climbing into Setsuna’s lap, Hotaru sat facing her.  “May I have tea?” she asked, reaching for the cup in Setsuna’s hands before she had an answer.

Holding the cup a bit more firmly, Setsuna let the girl place her hands over hers and helped her take a sip.  She grinned at the little grimace and the way Hotaru’s lips smacked before she hissed out “hothothot.”

“Maybe we can find you something else in the kitchen,” suggested Setsuna.

Hotaru nodded, then placed her hands on Setsunan’s cheeks.  “Thank you for coming to get me.  I was happy to see you, and I’m going to enjoy my new life.”

Setsuna blinked in surprise.  Then just as quickly as the clarity had appeared, it was gone.  The girl smooshed her mama's cheeks in circles, laughing mightily at the way this made Setsuna’s lips purse.

“You come get pancakes, too, Setsuna-mama,” said Hotaru as Setsuna gently stopped the child’s play.  “Michiru-mama cut up a banana for me.  I bet she’ll do one for you.”

“That would be very nice,” answered Setsuna as she rose.  She lifted Hotaru and settled her on her hip, realizing belatedly she didn’t have enough hands for both teacup and teapot.  At least Haruka had left the door open for her.  She could come back for the teapot when it was time for a refill.  Before taking Hotaru inside, she glanced one more time over the city.  

Just a little longer.

Artemis squinted against the sudden burst of artificial light that engulfed the room.  When he could see again, Minako was quickly rooting through a pile on the floor.  She emerged triumphant with a duffle bag and proceeded to immediately begin filling it with clothes.

“Mina, what are you doing?” asked Artemis, sure he wasn’t going to like the answer.

“I’m packing,” answered Minako as she continued to fill her bag.  “I suggest you do the same thing, if there’s anything you want to bring with you.  I don’t know if we’ll be coming back.”

“Where do you think we’re going?”

“To Rei’s.  Don’t ask silly questions.”

Artemis sighed.  He understood her wanting to do this, but had to at least try and talk some logic into her impulsiveness.  “Running away isn’t going to solve things, Mina,” he said gently.

Minako paused in her frantic packing.  “I know, Artemis,” she said quietly.  “But it can’t make things much worse.  Don’t you understand?  This isn’t my home anymore.  Rei is.  And Fate can’t wash your back if you don’t give It any soap.”

“Mina?”

“Setsuna told me once that nothing happens by accident,” explained Minako.  “Fate set up everything so we would become Senshi when we were supposed to.  And Fate gave me Rei.  I have no doubt that on my 20th birthday, I’ll be able to stand beside her, regardless of what happens between then and now.  That’s Fate.  What happens in the three years between then and now, though, that’s up to me.  If I’m supposed to be somewhere else, then that’s what will happen.  But I refuse to just sit by and let everything happen to me without at least trying to fight for what’s mine.  I’m going home, Artemis.”
