Might as well give my two cents on this topic. I think we’re all pretty aware of the dating sim Date Everything!, which has stirred up controversy—mainly around the subject of “minor-coded characters.” I feel like I should share my opinion on the matter.

Let me just say this: calling fictional adult characters “minor-coded” can actually be incredibly damaging to real people.

“Why?” you might ask. As I’ve mentioned before in my past posts, fictional characters can’t be respected in the same way real people can. However, because of how fiction is being consumed in contemporary society, people have started projecting that same level of respect onto fictional characters as if they were real. That’s where the issue begins.

If you start respecting fictional characters, who aren’t real, as if they are, you’re more likely to apply that same framework of respect to actual people. This might sound harmless, but it can become a serious problem when you push this idea onto others.

Now, let’s talk about the real damage that comes from labeling an adult character as “minor-coded.” If you see an adult fictional character and interpret them as being underage—based on how they look or act—and then insist that others treat them like a child, you risk integrating that same mindset in the real world. Eventually, this can lead to people treating actual adults with childlike traits (whether in appearance, voice, or behavior) as if they don’t have autonomy—simply because they seem younger in some way, even when they’re not.

Do you see the issue? When you push for people to treat a fictional adult character like a child, it can influence how you treat real adults who share similar traits—traits they often can’t control. That kind of mindset bleeds into real-life behavior, and that’s where the harm lies.

I'm not sure what else I can do given what's been going on with my main blog @reveryfics and how I feel said blogs and my own boundaries are being disrespected.

Below the cut I'm going to talk about this, and how it's making me feel.

When I started @reveryfics it was because I'd spent countless hours trying to find fanfiction for queer men or trans men that didn't make them overly feminine or turned them into a "femboy" and disguised it as something different. I made that blog as a way for not only me, but for fellow queer men and trans men to have a safe place to read fanfiction that is meant for them.

Females or female identifying individuals are constantly catered to when it comes to fanfiction, especially smut fanfiction. Us trans men, or queer men aren't given the same treatment when it comes to fanfiction or smut fanfiction. My smut fanfiction is only for men or trans men who want to read something that's for them and them alone. It's stated on a smut post that females and minors aren't allowed to interact with the post.

In my blogs pinned post it clearly states my blog is for queer men and trans men, and while I'm aware my non-smut posts can be read by anyone as most of the time I don't directly mention a gender or pronoun, it's again always stated that females and minors are not welcome to interact with a smut post.

I've talked about this several times, I've posted about it, I've given warnings, I've blocked people and yet they still seem to ignore that very clear boundary that I've set. I have been nice, I have been forgiving and yet it's like a slap in the face or a massive "fuck you" when it keeps happening.

I want my blog to be a safe space for people like me, I want other men to feel they have a place that caters to them and only them.

There are days I want to delete every smut post and say "because you chose to disregard my boundaries, I will no longer post smut" but that isn't fair to my followers, that isn't fair to me.

Hell there are days I want to completely delete my account and give up because all I want is to be respected and it seems people don't care.

Again, my blog is catered towards queer men and trans men specifically and when I blatantly express something I write isn't for females or female identifying individuals and they continue to interact its disrespectful.

Thank you to everyone who took time to read this, and again this is simply how I feel about this issue.

okay it’s come to my attention that absolutely NONE OF YOU know ANYTHING about how cutie marks work. let me say this simply. a cutie mark isn’t a job being assigned, it’s a special TALENT OR SKILL that the pony enjoys. Most of the time it has a directly transferable job for that skill, like if you enjoy baking and are super good at it WOW! baker. If you are really good at writing and telling stories, author. However, there are some cutie marks that could go multiple ways.

twilight sparkle has exceptional magic ability, so she became a scholar, but she could really do anything that required a good magic skill. same with rainbow dash, her weather controlling job isn’t directly linked to her cutie mark, but it does fit the bill for the job.

i was posed the question of what would a murderer pony’s cutie mark be and wouldn’t everyone know. NO. if somehow murder were to be a special skill, the cutie mark might be something like a knife or a shovel. other ponies might just assume you’re good at cooking or gardening. now with cutie marks like apple jacks, their family has a ‘green thumb’ kind of deal so obviously the cutie mark would be hereditary.

so, the reason i made this post. walter white pony’s cutie mark would NOT be blue crystals. it would be a CHEMISTRY FLASK.

Yesterday, I was on a break from uni with a few friends, and the conversation somehow devolved into the topic of fiction. I shared my belief that “fiction is a place to safely and healthily depict complex topics and express yourself.” One of my friends responded with, “So what, you’re a proshipper?” in the most snarky tone imaginable and I just stared at them, completely baffled.

Then they launched into a rant about how “PDF-Files” use AI chatbots of children in sexual ways, and how allowing that to happen contributes to societal normalization of CSA

Like, first of all—slippery slope fallacy. How the hell do you think someone using an AI chatbot is going to lead to the widespread normalization of CSA? Second, if your immediate reaction to someone saying “Yeah, fiction can be a safe way to express complex or dark ideas” is to accuse them of “proshipping” in the negative connotation of that word, then you clearly don’t have the nuance or maturity to have the conversation.

Seriously, people piss me off sometimes. I didn’t even feel like arguing about it—it’s really not worth the time trying to convince someone who’s already made up their mind. But I figured I’d share this anyway.

reminder: shifting is real. you’re going to have memories from when you were a kid or random interactions with people you knew back then. even the dream you may have had when you were 10... oh and perhaps the supermarket you visited with your parents 6 years ago? your life in your dr doesn’t start from the moment you shift there. life is still life. don’t treat your dr as a ‘magical‘ place.

You know when you have that dream that absolutely ruins your day.

My whole day got ruined because I had a dream that me and an old irl friend made up and settled our differences and became friends again. I distinctly remember in the dream saying “I hope this isn’t a dream,” because seriously being friends with that person again would’ve been the best thing to happen to me and when I woke up I realized that it wasn’t real and then I proceeded to spend the whole day in a absolutely crummy mood.

recognizing ur dr as its own reality.

i feel like something that a lot of shifters struggle with (including myself) is recognizing their dr as a real reality of its own. before you say “obviously it’s real, why are you telling me stuff i already know?”, just hear me out. in this reality, people all over the world are doing their own thing and that’s the way it’s always been. people are giving birth, getting into college, fighting with parents, etc. in your dr, it’s the exact same thing. i think so many shifters think of their dr as a place that becomes real once they shift, but that is not the case at all. in this exact moment, your dr is going on as it normally is. people who you don’t even know in ur dr, are going to sleep, falling in love, falling out of love, just like in this reality. i hope what i’m saying makes sense but basically what i’m saying is that your dr doesn’t become an actual reality once you get there, you just become aware of it. and just like this reality, the world doesn’t actually only revolve around you & you’re friends in that reality and everyone around the world will have their own shit going on. people have their own thoughts and their own minds, and even the world is going to have some stuff going on that you didn’t script in just because that’s the way reality is all the time in every universe. that reality existed before you were even born and it will keep existing even after you leave it. the world will always continue to spin even when ur not aware of said reality because the world does not spin around you, of course it seems like that because you’re only aware of yourself, but it truly truly doesn’t.
