Good news though! The mods of this blog have found a human artist that will be able to draw an actual stained glass portrait of Blackwall, once they open commissions in September. hi, all. i've already made a lengthy post explaining the reasons we should not support this upcoming seventeen album, which you can read here. it is far too long to delve into in any substance here considering this post will already have some serious length to it, however, it discusses the already ongoing boycott and the reasons behind it, as well as the reasons to boycott this album, which include their overwork and mistreatment, and more significantly, their continued collaboation with zionists in the past and on this album, as well as the involvement with a producer promoted his company's work with self professed n/azi kanye west in a highly antisemitic song. i strongly suggest you give it a read.

however, i would like to drive the point home with this post, and that is because both the members and their company continue to be willfully uneducated and ignorant of these matters, and further... unsavory things about their upcoming activities are coming out. they recently announced a 10th anniversary celebration in collaboration with airbnb. airbnb is a pressure target on the official bds boycott list. a pressure boycott per the bds website includes boycotting when there are reasonable alternatives to the company or product. (i don't know about you, but i've never been in a position where i am absolutely forced to use airbnb.)

airbnb is complicit in israeli occupation. settlers list hundreds of homes, apartments and villas for tourists to stay in, allowing both airbnb and illegal settlers to profit off land stolen from palestinian people. they quite literally allow war crimes to be used as tourism. this now makes 2 zionist or zionist adjacent collaborations linked to seventeen's anniversary celebrations, as well as one n/azi adjacent collaboration. i am encouraging you all to boycott more than ever.

there are carats in gaza fighting to survive every day and it is a slap in the face to them that you would sit down and put any money towards this album, even by offering seventeen and hybe so much as a cent of passive income through streams.

those of us wanting to boycott are unfortunately very much a minority but please don't allow that to discourage you. this is how you can use your voice. this is how you can make a difference. if you feel discouraged by the imbalance here, i encourage you to educate others and urge them to join the efforts.

being a fan of something does not mean you cannot have criticisms or grievances, and it especially does not mean you cannot use your voice. you do not have to swallow your feelings about anything these artists do. you do not owe them anything and they are not entitled to your unwavering support. in fact, when it pertains to matters as disturbing as these, your support of them makes you entitled to speak up when they act in a disappointing fashion.

this is not hatred of seventeen. this is desire for them to better themselves and hope that they will remember their humanity before they act. i encourage you to remember yours, too. you are a human before you are a fan of something. think of your fellow humans, especially those suffering in gaza. act in their best interest, not seventeen's.

March has been a very challenging month for me — from the first 2 weeks where my mom was admitted to the hospital while me & my brother stayed by her side; to my mom passing away later on due to kidney failure. During those times I asked for help & received a lot of doodle commissions. Since the past weeks have been pretty busy and difficult for me & my brother, I've been trying to pace myself so that I could go through them slowly.

RICE Alzheimer's Research Institute

Terry died on 12 March 2015, having given his PCA a run for its money.  Open about his diagnosis, he has helped to unlock the secrecy and stigma that often surrounds dementia.  His legion of fans is undoubtedly grateful that despite the inevitable progression of the PCA he was able to fight his ‘embuggerance’ and continue to produce a number of both well-received and well-reviewed books.  Terry was also a great example to me in emphasizing how important it is that, in caring for people with any type of dementia, we always look for what people with a condition like PCA can still do, rather than what they can’t: by maximizing what is possible, a person can still live well with dementia for a significant time.

I wanted to post something for the Glorious 25th about the Research Institute for the Care of Older People (RICE) in Bath, where Sir Terry Pratchett received treatment for Post-Cortical Atrophy, the type of Alzheimer’s disease that eventually took his life. From the organization’s website:

RICE established one of the first memory clinic services in the UK in 1987 – a service which has since been widely replicated and is now considered standard and best practice by the NHS. In fact, RICE now runs the NHS Memory Clinic in Bath and North East Somerset on behalf of the local clinical commissioning group and local authority through a sub-contract with HCRG Care Group. To date, we’ve assessed, diagnosed, treated and advised 12,000 people with memory problems and their families in our memory clinic. 

Most of RICE’s clinical services and research activities take place in our own purpose built, specialist centre located on the Royal United Hospital site. The building of the RICE Centre was possible as a result of generous donations from major donors, trusts and foundations, and members of the public. RICE moved into the ground and first floor of the centre in 2008. Following the success of the DementiaPlus Appeal and further generous donations from major donors, trusts and foundations and members of the public, RICE converted the attic floor in 2019 to create more office space. This has given us access to much needed additional rooms and offices which will enable us to grow and run more services and activities. We’ve worked hard to ensure that the areas of the centre visited by our patients meets their needs and we regularly receive feedback on how much our patients enjoy their visit to our centre.

RICE not only provides clinical services to patients, but also conducts research into aging and dementia, including performing clinical trials for new drug treatments for memory-related diseases and developing other “techniques for diagnosing, managing, treating and understanding dementia and memory changes in older adults.”

Lady Lyn Pratchett is the patron of the organization, and the website includes a page about how people can donate funds or volunteer at the clinic and participate in fundraising events.

I really don't want to have to do this but I'm a trans crisis counselor who has just been laid off with less than 1 month's notice. On top of that, my ESA cat has a UTI that I have to take her to the vet for tomorrow. In addition to that, I won't be able to make payments on the debt that I am carrying if I stay unemployed for longer than a month. I am jobseeking like crazy right now but it feels like everything bad is happening all at once and I don't have the financial support right now to get through it all. I'm extremely desperate.
