Revolutionary Army Punk AU
Ft: Luffy (not punk)

Steampunk is cool but i think just straight up punk would be cooler. I just think what they stand for lines up a lot better
Design notes:
I did some research and talked to a punk friend of mine for these as i am not a punk, myself, and I dont want to look like a poser. I think i did a really good job translating them and i want to explain my thoughts!
Sabo was first, of course.
I not only wanted to make the characters punk, but i also wanted to crank their designs up about 20 notches, so i gave Sabo’s scar one hell of an upgrade. In this version I tried to make it very clear that that cannon ball hit him head-on. I think it works really well with his punk vibes because under-cuts and shaved parts of the head in general are very popular in punk culture.
I largely tried to keep the silhouettes the same with this au, and It was really easy to keep it with Sabo because of the fact that he already has a lot of design elements that translate well to punk. His big pants into tall boots were perfect to translate, crust pants and steel toed boots fits him well. Trench coats arent a staple in Punk, but i couldnt take the coats away from him… him or Belo. They deserve it…
I threw away his cravat for a choker, i replaced his vest with a red tank top and his undershirt for fishnets, Patches up the wazoo, he looks very cool.
Belo Betty was next, she was super easy to translate. She’s already in the punk spirit with her tits out, we love to see it. Her hat was really difficult to translate, along with all the other hats, but a red knitted hat that has those two points cuz it’s essentially a scarf sewed together looks nice on her.
My punk friend suggested i give her a bunch of nets and harnesses and i really agreed that was her style, so i gave her red tie to Morley, slapped some harnesses on her and just overall just turned her sexy up like 50 notches. I think i was clever how i adapted her striped stockings here with how they have runs in them.
Karasu is almost the exact same. I just threw out his dinky little cravat and gave him a bandana and harness. I also gave him piercings. That’s the only difference. In the words of my Punk friend “hes naked and wearing a spiked mask, He can hang”
Speaking of what my punk friend said, he said that Lindbergh would get “demolished” in the pit, and that he looks like he’s scared of bees. The consensus was that he couldn’t hang. But also i still had to make him punk, so then he suggested CBGB punks:

Redneck, bluegrass, southern american punks. I was really in a rut with his design, I didn’t know what to do to keep the silhouette of his backpack. But everything changed when I chance got the idea of a guitar. And then everything flowed from there
Morley was really really fun. Punk friend suggested i make her Pop Punk, inspired by this pic

She was so so fun to draw, i love her fucked up eyes.
For dragon, i didnt change much at all, even though it’s only his bust that’s shown. Imagine everything is the same, except now he has piercings. Dragon isnt concerned with the punk fashion, but the punk cause.
For Luffy, I wasnt trying to make him punk, but he felt a bit plain looking like base Luffy next to punk Sabo, so i just did the “turn design up 20 notches”, and just gave him a more visibly tattered hat, bangles and waist beads.
That’s about it! Ive been getting a lot of comments and asks lately saying that you guys like when i go on my design explanations, and i realized that i didnt do that for the last few AU’s, so i thought id type this up :)

The original Gravity Falls pitches and pilot just dropped!!
(Link for those who want it)
For those who don't wanna look through all of it, here are some highlights I found!
Interesting changes from the pitch (What Alex Hirsch showed Disney to make them greenlight the show):
Stan’s secret was that he’s secretly protecting the townsfolk from weirdness, nothing to do with Ford. No mention of Ford in the pitch at all. Stan also wanted Dipper and Mabel to be his successors in this version.
Mabel used to be the unhygienic one instead of Dipper.
Wendy was brunette and didn’t work as the Mystery Shack cashier, instead selling veggie juice out of her van.
As such, Soos (Jesús in this version) worked the register in addition to his handyman job in this version. He was a bit less of a hard worker here, watching telenovelas on the job sometimes, but still loves his job and is extremely loyal to Stan.
Robbie was almost exactly the same, parents’ backstory and all, but there’s an interesting note that he occasionally clashed with Gideon in this version (which we never got in the final show)
Speaking of which, Gideon’s last name in this version was Garrymore instead of Gleeful.
Gideon used to personally harass and prank Stan, going out of his way to vandalize Stan’s stuff himself.
Manly Dan was always planned to be Wendy’s dad. In this version, he hates the idea that his hipster daughter prefers conserving the environment instead of chopping down forests
(For those who wanted more Wendy episodes, I’m surprised Hirsch didn’t use this as a conflict for one of them- it makes her interesting without costing any of her “coolness”)
Sheriff Blubs was originally Sheriff “Blumps”. Durland has the same name likely because Hirsch said he’s named after a real guy.
With no Ford and no Journal mentioned, episodes were originally very different-
“The President’s Cabinet/Irrational Treasure.” Instead of via the journal, Dipper and Mabel find a record of Quentin Trembley in a box buried in the yard. No Pacifica mentioned here.
“Secret Dungeon” Dipper becomes obsessed with a recalled arcade cabinet. Mabel must try and save him by finding the original high scorer.
“Thtupid Thursday” One of the many ‘Shining Twins’ episode concepts Hirsch wanted to do. Dipper and Mabel learn ‘twin telepathy’ from some creepy twins, and soon regret it.
“Periodic Mabel” Mabel invents her own element for the science fair and Dipper is jealous.
“Only the Clonely/Boyz Crazy” The exact same episode just without Candy and Grenda. Sev’ral Timez is called “ReelBoyzzz” in this version.
“Big Dipper” With surprisingly no tie to Little Dipper, Dipper asks a fortune teller to make him older so he can win Wendy over. But she makes him 22, so he and Mabel have to undo the spell.
“Sweater off Dead” Mabel buys an antique sweater and is possessed by the soul of the granny who last wore it. Stan is terrified by the spirit because she reminds him of his ex-wife Marilyn (Deep Edalyn Clawthorne lore???) so Dipper must “Swexorcize” his sister and save her.
“Teed Off/The Golf War” With no Pacifica, this was originally a Dipper vs Gideon episode- No Lilliputtians, either. Instead, the 13th hole is cursed and traps the cast in a time loop.
Now, changes from the Production Pitch (I’m guessing for when the show was already greenlit and this was a way to brief crew members on what the show would 100% be about)
Stan’s secret (likely the portal) and the journal are now set in stone.
Emphasis on continuity and character development. Nothing gets “reset” by next episode. All plot developments are permanent.
All character names and designs are locked in. Pacifica has now been added, as well as Waddles, Gompers, Lazy Susan, Candy and Grenda, and McGucket (No mention or hint at his past here)
Interesting to note is that there is still zero outright mention of Ford and Bill in this version, even though multiple episodes were seemingly in production at this point.
Manly Dan’s conflict with Wendy from the original pitch is still here. Making it even more mindblowing that we never got it in the show
Blubs and Durland are described as a little more playful instead of mean like in the original pitch.
All episode examples made it into the show with no changes this time. They are Tourist Trapped, Legend of the Gobblewonker, Fight Fighters, Boyz Crazy, and The Land Before Swine.

pairing: Shauna Shipman x f!reader summary: It's been long enough, hasn't it? If only Shauna could bring herself to apologize. note: minors dni Masterlist
She’s doing it again. It’s not even a surprise any more, if it ever was. You aren’t sure what to make of it, but you know with a bone-deep certainty that if you show your face outside of Nat’s hut, her eyes will be solely focused on you. 
Shauna’s been the butcher for so long that she doesn’t even need to look down at her hands as she slices, each move mechanical and efficient, but you wish that she would. You used to tell her off for it, constantly reminding her to at least pretend she was watching for your sake instead of staring down Mari, but that’s just not your place anymore.
And whose fault was that?
You shuffle next to a group of girls huddled around the fire, staying close for warmth as you surreptitiously adjust the outer layers of your clothes to make sure her flannel is still hidden firmly out of view. The last thing you need is for someone to comment on it loudly enough for Shauna to hear. It was a stupid risk, keeping it. 
Dumber still to wear it out, but you spent far too much time laying around in the hut and tracing the worn fabric with your thumb to pretend you didn’t want to. She snuck into Nat’s hut in the middle of the night like some kind of bandit and left it with you. Well, the exact opposite of a bandit really, but the fact remained that she wants you to have it. Wanted, maybe, if she hasn’t changed her mind since.
It was hard enough avoiding those eyes of hers now—achingly sad and lonely, right back to the girl who had first pinned you up against that tree all those months ago. Her eyes were always more expressive than anything else. Even those rare times she managed to keep what she was feeling off of her face, you could always count on those brown eyes to tell you what was what. They told you when she was proud. When she was feeling uncertain. When she loved you.
Because Shauna certainly won’t.
She never has, really, but she hasn’t even brought herself to speak to you since she tried to pull that gun on you. Shauna wants to speak to you, to explain whatever fucked-up thing was going through her head when she reached behind her back, or even just quietly exist beside you like she used to. But she never seems to be able to fully cross that line and make her way toward you. Seemingly content to mope around and stare like some kind of depressed ghost.
You know that if you let her talk to you, you would forgive her just as easily. If she could actually get the words out, that was. No hesitation, no lecture, no more sleeping in Nat’s hut and wishing you could feel Shauna pressing up against you.
It wasn’t some calculated attack, but the stupid split-second reaction of someone who’s never known how to sit with hurt feelings without letting them explode outwards and damaging everyone in the vicinity. Shauna has always acted without thinking, right down to the very beginning of your relationship when she kissed you back without even fully knowing why. It’s done nothing but get her in trouble, back home but especially out here.
The kind of impulsivity that ends with you pregnant with your best friend’s boyfriend’s baby or holding a camp full of girls hostage because you can’t deal with the idea of returning to a town that holds nothing but ghosts and shame.
Then there’s the rage. That blinding rage that takes hold of her and erases all sense of thought and logic, her eyes narrowed so tight you’re not even sure she can see beyond it. When she gets that smug little smirk on her face that seems perfectly designed to get beneath your skin, as infuriating as it is hot. The one that makes you want to slap her and kiss her in the same breath. But mostly slap.
But there are other things. Softer things that you have to make a concentrated effort not to think on if you have any hope of remaining mad.
Like the tears she sheds when she thinks you're asleep, face pressed tightly into your shoulder as she shakes from the effort of holding them back as you lie there pretending not to hear. The name she whispers in her sleep that you won’t acknowledge even to yourself. How worried she’s become since summer turned into fall, how dedicated to ensuring you were never cold. Not the rest of them, just you.
The look she gets when you're cuddled up on your cot, pressed together tightly as her hand brushes stray strands of hair away from your chest. The comforting weight of her head on your chest when she falls asleep listening to your heartbeat. Even just the way she entwines your fingers when you’re alone, tracing her thumb up and down the side of your hand like she could never get tired of it.
The way she reached for that gun behind her back.
You have to remind yourself of it.
You can forgive her, but you need her to ask for it. She has to mean it. It can’t just be folded away like so many of the things she’s done out here.
If there’s one thing you can’t do, it’s letting her pull you back into that hut like what she did was nothing. You know what the rest of them whisper about you behind your back. What they get brave enough to say about your and Shauna’s relationship. Her little dog, faithful and forgiving. 
The first person you heard say it was Mari, laughing with a group of them around her about how you’ll stop following Shauna around when she finally bites you hard enough. You didn’t say anything then, just rolled your eyes and pretended like you didn’t hear it. But you always did.
Then there’s the bets Van’s been taking about when you’re going to take Shauna back. Those you didn’t mind so much, not when Van winked and promised to share the loot. She made it sound more like a joke than the pity some of the rest of them looked at you with. At least Van was honest. At least she seemed to understand sometimes.
But still. Being with Shauna wasn’t like what the rest of them thought. You’ve seen the way they’ve been looking at you for months: like they felt bad for you. Like you somehow drew the short straw. They couldn’t possibly understand why you were with her in the first place, and it made you so damn sad.
They didn’t see the way her face softens when she catches you staring. How shy it makes her, like she didn’t fully understand it either. Her eyes darting down and then back up, always pleasantly surprised to find you still looking. The way she squirms and slaps your hands away when your fingers tread just a little too close to being ticklish. They didn’t know how tightly she holds onto you, like she’s terrified you won’t be there when she wakes up again. That special way she says your name.
She was your girlfriend, and they just keep making it into a punchline.
Maybe that’s why, even now, there’s still distance between you and the rest of them no matter how closely you’re huddled together. Nat bumps your shoulder, careful not to brush by Misty who’s standing near you. You have questions about their sudden distance, but you’ll let her keep her secrets. She never presses you about Shauna, despite how badly she seems to want to at times. The least you could do is return the effort considering you’re sharing her bed now.
Regretfully you step back from the fire, following Nat a bit away from the rest of them. Just out of earshot, you think. You glance over at Shauna, scoffing when you see her talking to Hannah again. As much as she cautioned you about talking to her—screamed at, belittled, accused you of flirting with, made you feel small—the same didn’t seem to go for Shauna.
Figures.
The whole thing was stupid, anyway. You don’t get why Shauna would be talking to her in the first place. Shauna hates talking to anyone who wasn’t you, and sometimes even you didn’t seem to be an exception. What are they talking about over there, anyway? Probably off braiding each other's hair and swapping secrets. It’s petty of you, but you felt that it was more than deserved at this point. Shauna had stormed off after much less, after all.
You miss the way Shauna’s eyes follow you with something awfully close to jealousy as you follow after Nat.
“What are you doing out here?” Shauna asks sharply. 
You jump in surprise, wincing as it pulls against your shoulder. It was mostly healed, but it still doesn't feel nice. Her posture shifts as she softens, hands uncurling by her side as she glances at your arm. She stands by the doorway of her hut, shifting on the balls of her feet like she isn't quite sure what she's doing out here. Shauna’s looking at you like you’re a puzzle she still hasn’t figured out, even after all this time. You wonder if you really are just a mystery to her sometimes with the way she reacts in surprise to so many things.
“Just watching the fire,” you say, feeling a tinge of awkwardness from the way she was just standing there watching. Her expression, what you could make of it from the light of the fire, was far too intense for how late it was. 
“That's not your job.” Simple, to the point. Direct. Typical Shauna.
“Well, no,” you admit, glancing over in the direction of Misty's hut. You knew she was awake in there, likely listening. It was, after all, her job to be watching the fire. You weren't sure why she chose to stay in the hut. She's been avoiding you ever since you started rooming with Nat. Giving you a wide berth, like whatever you had was contagious.
“I just couldn't sleep.”
“You should go to bed,” Shauna says tersely, like she’s forcing the words out. 
“Fine.” You sigh as you stand up, taking a step toward Nat's hut. 
“No.”
“No?” You ask as you slowly come to a stop. You don't turn around to face her as you speak, which you know must drive her insane. 
“To your bed,” she says pointedly. Despite how it comes out like an order, you can hear the way her voice wavers. 
“And where's that?” Still not looking at her. You can hear Shauna moving around behind you, hesitant and unsure.
“Don't be like that.” 
“I'll be however I—” 
“Please,” Shauna says. It's enough to make you turn around in surprise. “Can we… Can we talk?”
“Talk, then.” 
Shauna glances around, eyes narrowing on Misty's hut. “Inside? I don't want… “
Anyone to hear, you finish in your head. Yeah, that sounds about right. You step towards her silently, closing the distance between you. Shauna's eyes widen in surprise, murmuring a soft “oh” under her breath as she ducks back into her hut. 
For all her talk, she doesn't seem to know what to do with you now that you're back in her hut with her. Shauna blushes suddenly as her eyes catch something before quickly looking back at you. You can't help but indulge your curiosity and follow her eyes, a pleased feeling rising in your chest as you catch sight of your shirt balled up on her bed. 
Worn and unmistakably slept in since you’ve been gone. You wonder how many nights she’s spent sleeping in it, or maybe even just holding it up to her face and pretending you were here. It’s kind of pathetic, really, but you can’t deny how good it is to see it. It’s mostly just sweet. Finally, some evidence that Shauna was as affected by your separation as you are, as much as she pretends otherwise as she walks around with Hannah just a half-step behind her.
Not that you hadn’t been sleeping in Shauna’s flannel as well, but that was your business. You let the silence hang for longer than you usually would, feeling a little earned cruelty as you watch her squirm. 
“Didn’t think you were the sentimental type,” you say, voice low and just shy of mocking.
“I’m not,” she rushes out too quickly, her voice cracking just enough to be noticeable. Shauna clears her throat like that would help. “Just cold.”
“Clearly.” Shauna flinches at the words but doesn’t rise to them for once. She opens her mouth, hesitates as she rubs her thumb absently against the sheath on her thigh, and then closes her mouth again. When she doesn’t say anything else, you continue, “I‘m here. Now what?”
“I wouldn’t have shot you,” Shauna says, too fast again, giving you what you think is an attempt at a smile but looks a little too threatening. She seems to be aware of the fact as she winces and looks away, rubbing her hand against the back of her neck in a soothing motion. The way you used to. Then she tries again, softer and more sincere.
“It wasn’t about hurting you.” Her voice sounds so small, so uncertain that it makes you a little sick. “Not really. I don’t know why…”
“So you reached for the gun?” You cut in, tired of watching her pretend it was anything other than what it was. 
Shauna flinches like she hadn’t expected you to actually name it. What had she been expecting, anyway? Did she imagine that all she had to do was invite you into her hut and look at you with her sad eyes, and suddenly everything would be okay? Fuck that.
“I just didn’t know what to do. It was—everyone was watching, and you just walked away from me. Like it was easy. Like I wasn’t anything.” She can’t bring herself to look at you as she speaks, but you can hear the way she’s practically begging you to understand what she can’t say. Her arms wrap around her stomach, taking a step back until she’s almost pressed up against the wall of her hut.
You don’t follow her. You don’t offer her anything. You’re tired of making it easier for her.
“Whatever, Shauna,” you mutter.
“Wait, no.”
“I’m tired of waiting for something that’s not ever coming because you’re not—”
“I’m sorry.”
You blink, breath catching in a surprised squeak that you couldn’t have stopped if you tried as you stare at her with wide eyes.
“I wasn’t even thinking. I just wanted you to come back. I didn’t mean to scare you—or maybe I did, somehow in some stupid way. It’s the only way I could think of to keep you, even if it was…”
“I’m sorry, okay?” She repeats again. “That’s all I have.”
Was it enough? 
You think it might be.
“Okay.”
“Okay?” She questions neutrally, like she’s trying not to get her hopes up. Maybe it was expecting too much of her to think she would sound more excited by the thought. Shauna’s been as emotionally vulnerable as she can manage for the rest of the winter.
“Okay,” you repeat, watching her carefully.
“Okay, what?” Shauna looks frustrated, fiddling with her hands as her fingers twitch toward her sheath again. She rolls her eyes when you grin at her. “You forgive—you’ll come back to bed?”
“This is the last time,” you warn, serious enough that Shauna tenses again. “You don’t get another do-over with something like this.”
Shauna nods thoughtfully as she takes a step forward, seeming pleased when you don’t take a step back. You’ve been doing that a lot lately, carefully avoiding her anytime she tried to stand nearer to you.
“I think I can manage not pointing the gun at you,” she adds smugly.
“Or the knife.”
Shauna gapes at you. “Like…ever?”
“Well, I mean sometimes—”
“A lot of times—”
“Just don’t threaten to kill me with it. Jesus, Shauna. You knew what I meant.”
“No threats?” Shauna demands seriously, even as a small smile comes to her face. It’s barely a smile, more of a twitch of her lips that you would call a muscle spasm on anyone else. It’s practically ecstatic on her. Wow, she must have really missed you.
“No serious threats,” you allow. She tilts her head to the side as if she’s about to start negotiating terms with you, only to hold her hands up mockingly when you narrow your eyes in her direction.
“Fine.”
Her hand hovers by her side before she slowly reaches out for you, hesitant, like she’s forgotten how. You reach out and lace your fingers together, squeezing firmly as you pull her closer without any resistance at all. Shauna’s warm where she’s pressed against you, chest to chest, with your joined hands trapped between your bodies.
She traces her fingers along the edge of your jacket, smirking as she notices the collar of her flannel peaking out. There’s no comment on it, mostly because you kiss her before she has a chance to.
Shauna gasps quietly, muffled against your lips as she clutches to your shoulders. Maybe not as carefully as she could, but you can’t bring yourself to mind much.
“Like that?” You question breathlessly between kisses, your non-dominant hand fumbling around between her legs as you curl your fingers again. 
It’s taken you a few tries to get it quite right, but Shauna hasn’t seemed to mind much even as your forearm trembled from the effort. Out of character, really, for your girlfriend, who was usually so demanding and bossy, but you think she must need the weight of you on top of her more than anything else. God knows you’ve wanted to feel her as well, active or asleep, as long as it meant she was pressed against you.
A pained hiss leaves your lips as your hand cramps again, not quite as used to the motion as you should be. The angle is awkward, the whole thing really, but it’s the first time you’ve had her in ages. You can’t bring yourself to readjust.
A nod, and then, “Yeah,” as she curls her fingers around the back of your neck to hold you closer. Her head tilts back, offering you up room you happily take to kiss a path down from her lips to her neck.
You can’t get as far as you want, not with her jacket firmly planted in your way. As much as you would love to have her bare beneath you, the ever-present threat of the winter air keeps the two of you mostly clothed. Even her sweatpants stayed on, the waistband digging into your wrist. Still, you wouldn’t have it any other way.
Shauna definitely wouldn’t, full out refusing when you tried to go down on her instead. She insisted it was because it was too damn cold out, but you secretly suspected it was for another reason entirely. The way she hasn’t been able to drag her eyes away from you since you eased her back down on your bed said more than words ever could, especially when they came from Shauna’s lips. Like you might not be there, waiting for you to disappear if she did so much as blink.
She looks at you like that a lot, actually: like she can’t fully accept that you’re real.
You’ll just have to remind her that you are. Not to toot your own horn, but it seems like you’re excelling at that right now. Shauna’s fingers curl in your hair as you nip at the peak of her collarbone showing beneath the collar of her jacket. They aren’t guiding you anywhere like they normally would, content just to touch and be touched.
Shauna cries out far too loudly for how close your hut is to the next one as you bite down where her neck meets her shoulder, sucking the skin with your mouth to soothe it with your tongue. She loves marking you more than just about anything else, bruises of any kind littering your body to remind you and everyone else who exactly you belong to. There were still bruises on your hips in the final stages of fading that she left before your fight. She was many things, but thorough was definitely one of them.
Equally happy to receive them, even if she prefers for them not to be visible. Luckily for you, she was too far gone to complain much now. Even when she caught sight of it tomorrow, she would wear it with pride after all this time apart, if only to prove to the rest of them whose hut you were sleeping in again. Shauna was a simple girl sometimes.
“Fuck,” she breathes lowly, pulling you up with the hand on the back of your neck to kiss you again.
It’s desperate now, like it has been all night. The two of you have been making up for lost time, even if neither of you wants to acknowledge it. Your time apart has done nothing but make you want her more, and it seems that she’s not immune to the pull either. If there was one thing you could expect from Shauna, it was to match your crazy.
“Could you—I need—” Shauna murmurs between kisses, struggling to pull away long enough to verbalize the thought.
You know what she wants, and it makes you flush in embarrassment. “I know,” you whisper, trailing off into a whine as she bites at your bottom lip. It's your fault for talking so close to her lips. It was almost a taunt, and of course Shauna would rise to it. “It’s just a little difficult with–”
Shauna rolls her hips up against your hand, grinding her clit against your palm as she tests the waters.
“There you go,” you murmur as she settles into a rhythm, your hand cramping something awful from trying to keep up with it. The words of complaint don’t leave your lips—you hardly even think about them as the two of you move together.
It doesn’t take long then, not that it ever does, before she’s clutching at your shoulder as she makes those quiet little sounds in your ear. It’s nothing out of the ordinary, but you can tell she’s holding herself back. Her hips start to slow as she forces herself back from the edge she’s been rapidly approaching. It’s not something you appreciate.
“Shauna, what’s wrong?” You ask, pulling away just enough to look her in the eyes.
Her eyes dart away in discomfort before she slowly drags them back, her face slack with pleasure as she struggles to stay focused on you.
“Fuck, just… Tell me you love me,” Shauna demands.
“What?”
“Tell me you love me,” she repeats, more hesitant this time. Embarrassed. “Are you stupid? You can’t even—”
“I love you, Shauna,” you interrupt, trying to stay patient. Shauna whines in your ear, a sound you know she’ll deny making until her death, as she speeds up.
“Again,” she demands.
“I love you.”
“Again.” Breathier this time.
“I love you.”
“Again.” 
She cries out, thighs clamping down around your hand as you struggle to keep your fingers moving. Shauna murmurs your name in something like disbelief, eyes slipping shut as she buries her face into your shoulder.
“I love you.” You press delicate kisses along her jaw as she shudders, repeating the words with each press of your lips.
“Idiot,” Shauna says finally against your ear, her cheeks red from some mix of the cold and her own embarrassment.
You laugh breathlessly against her neck, nipping at the skin in retaliation as her hands trail down your sides.

Disproving a common misunderstanding when it comes to the info provided in the logs/recordings in SOTM (spoilers, obviously)
A lot of people have been getting a pretty major detail wrong and it's been driving me absolutely crazy. I'm sure it will get sorted out once big theorists begin posting their theory, summary, and analysis videos but I've been genuinely losing my mind while scrolling through freddit so I felt the need to make this post.
Henry and William DID NOT work for Edwin OR steal his designs! A different company called Stan's Budget Tech did. In Freddy Fazbear's Pizzaria Simulator, a company by that name sells the Mediocre Melodies. The mediocre melodies cast includes: a purple hippo, a green frog with a yellow bobble on it's head, and an orange elephant. These are the EXACT designs we see throughout Murray's costume manner, which means they were most likely stolen.
The log that proves this is actually the same log that caused the misunderstanding in the first place:
Log: Me and Stan are out of here. It's time to jump ship before things get ugly. I have a bunch of Fiona's character patterns and Stan is taking what he can. Join us. With everything we know about the restaurant project, we can start our own machine shop.
A lot of people believed that this was William sending a message to Henry. However, the details directly contradict. "With everything we know about the restaurant project, we can start our own machine shop." The restaurant project is obviously Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. We know for a fact that MCM was commissioned to work on the designs and prototypes of the main 4 animatronics thanks to both the ending and multiple logs. It doesn't make since for this message to be coming from William to Henry since we know that the restaurant project Stan's friend was talking about is about the restaurant that Fazbear Ent is creating.
There is even more proof in the tapes and other logs that prove that William and Henry were NOT former employees OR the ones to steal Edwin's designs.
Tape: Edwin, never forget, they're behind it. Don't trust them. Never tell them. They want to destroy you. Dad was right. -Edwin
In this tape, Edwin is most likely referring to his employees being stolen by Fazbear, or specifically Willam. In a different tape we learn that Edwin's father previously owned MCM and passed it on to Edwin after his death. Since Edwin's dad told him not to trust Fazbear/William/Henry, then Fazbear Entertainment in some capacity had to exist before Edwin got control of the company. Which means they couldn't have been employed at the MCM during Edwin's time.
There's also the proof that Fazbear was commissioning designs, not stealing them.
Logs: Chica's Party World - Dear Mr. Murray, Fiona is amazing. The client is very happy with her chicken designs. Their sales are through the roof. I just wish the costume looked a little bit more like Fiona's art...I'm worried about how it will work with kids. It gives me nightmares. -Milton
Logs: Fiona, the new springlocks are working well, even with the water damage. They should be ready for the diner soon. I'll just make sure to warn Hen about some of the more...odd behaviors they might have. -Edwin
Tape: Test, test. I got the change order from Hen last night. None of this makes sense. I'm almost done. Why change it now? It would be so much easier to keep using the Springlocks. Just hire some teens to wear the suits like we always do. -Edwin
These all prove that Fazbear was paying for the designs of the original 4 animatronics, not stealing them. There's another tape in the ending part of the game where Edwin refuses to change the designs of the original 4s prototypes because Fiona designed them for them.
There's another misconception that Edwin made the original 4 animatronics that we later see in fnaf 1 and 2. This is incorrect since, as stated before, Edwin refused to transiton them from springlocks to regular animatronics. MCM also most likely burns in the end which means Fazbear never got the prototypes. So, the only way the unwithereds and fnaf 1 animatronics could exist is if Henry and/or William made them themselves.
Also, the reason the prototypes resemble Fnaf 1 originals and not the Fnaf 2 originals is likely because after the closing of Fnaf 2, Fazbear returned to Fiona's original designs.

(Re)designing a winglet - part 7/7
Happy Wednesday, everyone! I can't believe we made it to the end of this series so soon! I think I'll keep going a little longer and add some Pantalan Wingmates to this winglet, as well as making a little more OC content since these guys have really grown on me.

Our last member of the original batch, Kori, thankfully has a number of different defining features and clues we can use in order to create a good redesign. For one, I really appreciate the spine shapes and expression of malice which perpetuate a very cold, almost sinister vibe to this character. Additionally, past me left the helpful notation that Kori falls under the trans umbrella, which I'd like to build off of by making them genderfluid.

So, here's the updated bust! I honestly don't really know how I feel about this design and might come back to it in the future, because I was having a really hard time capturing the same expression and ended up with a different-looking character when I didn't want to. I tried to exemplify the defining traits from my old drawing as much as possible, by including the curvy ears and making Kori's under-ear spines bigger than before. To carry on with this theme of sharp edges, I made her mouth a little more jagged and added some extra angle to his spines.
As for the fullbody and build, I started thinking a little more about Kori's character and decided it would be cool to expand on the 'fighter' trope a little bit more. Kori's build is light and small, as they were training to be an icewing solider but fought in a ranged battalion where speed and agility were valued over outright physical strength. The goal of these battalions would be to hit enemies from afar, targeting talons, limbs and throats to minimize a rival dragon's ability to use their weapons (breath or not.) Frost on the wings could also be used to stop enemies from flying, forcing them onto the ground where heavier troops might be waiting.

But of course, Kori ended up at jade mountain instead of in the army like she'd wanted. He won't share the exact details on why their plan changed, but the other icewings of JMA can't stop gossiping about a numerous collection of rather violent rumors. Given who else is in Kori's winglet, I don't think these rumors would bother anyone very much - aside from Startalon, who can't stop seeing his own murder in their eyes.

IT'S STRINGLESS' 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY (+ early concept art compilation)
Posting this dumbass little video to start off the day since we have a lot of little gifts for our awesome community today.
One of those things is something i've been wanting to do for a very long while: posting a lot of the original concept art for stringless (since ive always enjoyed seeing other people's early concepts) some of these i have posted massively before, some are completely unseen, so it'll be fun

This one is the page that started it all, his design is at the same time largely unchanged and also completely different
All i have to say is that it originally said (regarding spamton and swatch) "they bicker like an old married couple" but then i thought about it and i changed it so theyre literally just married

Right after that, i got working on neo designs, I wanted to make him really scary looking, the original concept was to make him look skeletal and generally for him to look insane and like he had been reanimated from the dead, but a lot of people had told me over time that they didn't really like the design, I was very defensive over it but I ended up taking criticism and i actually really like the new neo, it balances the uncanniness of the original design with the sleekness of my new art

Payton was a natural next step, without someone to sell the thorn ring there'd be no neo, so although his design visually stayed almost the same, he went through a lot of color revisions (thanks mostly to @maskedalterego, who helped me to nail his final color palette), he suggested the gloves, and helped me to balance the saturation of the design since really I've never had a good eye for color.
His final design, color wise, was just me experimenting using the colors of my sona at the time on him, which I was hesitant to do but was so happy with the palette that I kept it.

It's interesting that he was originally intended to be the pink addison (since he sells one of the snowgrave required rings), and the reason he ended up being the blue addison was corey beepington (and the eviction notice short which I have taken one too many concepts from), this still influenced me to make his outfit pink initially, which still is a huge part of his character design

That exact same night, I created concept art for Raster (weirdly, I was sure I created them before Payton, but it might be because I was generally uninterested in Payton earlier on), their design is also largely unchanged, I just got better with shapes and color, I also ended up changing their cheek markings after seeing some swatchton fanchild art by ne0nbandit

I took very long on this design, and I only updated it every few weeks to make tweaks because I felt the concept was too good but my execution didnt make it justice
I'm very proud of how the design looks now, as of the latest neo redesigns, I feel I could finally make this idea justice

Swatch's design went through some last minute changes, I wanted to use this color palette for swatch to contrast with spamton, but decided against it, then i changed their hair to be longer, to make their Stringless design distinct from their regular Deltarune design

Historically, these two are pretty important, the first pieces of art I ever made featuring Rakhin's old design, when he wasn't part of stringless and I was just befriending rope (he made me Payton fanart first, fell in love with his style), the contrast is beautiful
Now to finish this post, here's some unseen Snowgrave route art I made over the time Stringless has been in development, they're all pretty quick sketches, but i love them nonetheless

it had been almost three months since your engagement party and a lot had changed. you and Felix were not getting along at all. your parents had thought it was best if the two of you moved in together and it had been the worst decision they had ever made. all you would do was fight and argue.
today, luckily, your mum, Elspeth and Venetia had decided that it was best for you to start trying on wedding dresses which meant you wouldn’t have to see Felix. “how are things with you and Felix going?” Elspeth asked, the three of you were sat in the back of the car almost at the wedding dress shop.
“not good. all we do is fight, i’m seriously considering not following through with this marriage” you rolled your eyes at the mere thought of Felix. “he’s being a dick head. sorry about him y/n, it’s like he’s on his period” Venetia apologised for how her brother was acting.
“oh no y/n don’t think like that, it’s just nerves. the two of you are going to have a very extravagant wedding and he gets nervous with those sorts of things” Elspeth said as she ran a hand through her hair. “it will get better i promise” she finished, showing you a sweet smile.
“surely you’re excited to try some dresses on? you might even find the one today” your mum finally spoke up. she loved the idea of you in a lovely white ballgown, walking up the isle arm linked with your fathers.
she had been dreaming about you getting married for years. “i hope so. how do you know if it’s the right dress for you?” you questioned, both women had been married and been through this exact same experience as you.
“you just have a gut feeling. i mean with me i had two dresses. i had one for the ceremony and then one for the party, god i wish i could relieve my wedding. it was the happiest day of my life” Elspeth said and your mum hummed, agreeing with what she had said.
“you’ll know if it’s the right dress, don’t worry about that sweetheart” your mum grabbed ahold of your hand and squeezed it gently. you nodded, giving her hand a squeeze back. “oh look, we are here” Elspeth said as the driver pulled up outside a fancy wedding boutique. “well, here goes nothing”.

“oh that dress is ravishing” you heard Elspeth say as you looked at yourself in the mirror. “it’s elegant, fits your body nicely, you look beautiful. what do you think?” she continued as she looked at the dress. this was the fourth dress you had tried on and you were beginning to think that this bridal shop didn’t have anything for you. “well, it’s a pretty dress. but i think it’s a little too plain” you mum agreed “it is a little too plain. very pretty but you need some sort of design on there” Venetia nodded her head, indicating that it was time to try on yet another dress.
you walked back to the changing room with the stylist and she helped you get into the next dress. this one was beautiful, it looked like a princess dress and that was something you loved. however, the dress was still plain. you walked out and stood in front of the three of them, their gasps were loud. “oh my goodness, this dress looks absolutely perfect on you y/n” Venetia said as her eyes trailed over the dress.
“y/n, you look so beautiful sweetheart” your mum said as she looked at you in awe. “i love it but it’s still plain, i want some sort of pattern on the fabric. i love the way the dress is and i would have picked it if it had a pattern” you said as your hands brushed over the dresses skirt. your bridal stylist Amy spoke up “you do look gorgeous in this dress style but i think i have one similar to this with a pattern. why don’t you go to the dressing room and i’ll bring it through?” you nodded, a smile appearing on your face.
you made your way to the dressing room filled with nerves and excitement. hearing that she had a dress similar to this made your heart beat fast. after a few minutes she came into the dressing room with the most perfect dress you’d ever seen. it was exactly what you wanted.
she helped you put the dress on and your heart fluttered, this was your dress. you walked back out your mums eyes filled with tears and both Elspeth and Venetia gasped, i’m awe of how beautiful you looked. “y/n i seriously have no words. you look so radiant and elegant, i am praying that you have picked this dress” your mum said, the dress was absolutely perfect.
“i can’t see any flaws in this dress, i think if i was to ever design my wedding dress this would be it” you turned to face the three of them, you’d never felt like this before. “that dress is just absolutely gorgeous. you look like a bride” although you were mad at Felix, you were excited to get married. not because you were marrying him but because you could party like no other in the most beautiful dress with your family and friends.
“i think my brother might fall in love with you when he sees you in this dress” Venetia somewhat joked, she knew her brother would at some point fall in love with you and this dress would make it 100x easier. “i think it’s time we buy this dress and go celebrate” Elspeth said which you all agreed too.

you had been out all day and it was now 7 at night. you hadn’t heard from Felix at all and you were not looking forward to seeing him. you opened the door to your house. “Felix, are you home?” you called out but got no response. you walked round the house saw him sitting on the sofa watching the tv.
“hey” you spoke as you sat down on the sofa next to him, you put your bag next to you and sighed. it had been a long day and finally sitting down felt amazing. he ignored you, his eyes still fixated on the tv screen. “how’s your day been?” he shrugged at you and you sighed, rubbing your forehead in frustration. “we can’t live like this Felix. this is no life” you looked over at him.
“y/n, have you ever thought that maybe i don’t want to live here with you?” his tone didn’t shock you, he had been in a bad mood for weeks. “i’m sorry but this wasn’t my decision either. do you really think i want to live here when you’re in a bad mood all the time?” he was silent.
“maybe think that i’m trying to work this out for the sake of our parents and whatever this relationship is and you’re just throwing it back in my face” he stood up, his tall frame towering over you.
“y/n. this isn’t a relationship. we are being forced to marry each other” you stood up, you weren’t going to let him intimidate you. there was an uncomfortable distance between you both.
“what is your problem Felix? why is there such an issue with you marrying me. i get we don’t love each other but am i really that bad?” you hated to admit it but even though Felix had been awful to you, there was a part of you that was falling for him.
there was some days where he was okay and the two of you got along, having Felix be nice to you was what made you somewhat fall for him. “don’t try guilt trip me y/n. you hate me just as much as i hate you” he scoffed but you just shook your head.
“what? i have been nice to you since after that talk we had in the bathroom at the party. i’m sick of you blaming me for absolutely everything when i’m reality it’s you who is the problem. i don’t think you realise how you make me feel when you treat me like shit” you could feel yourself getting upset.
“don’t pretend like you really care. you never cared about how it made you feel before so what’s changed now?” you shook your head, embarrassed that you were even about to admit this.
“what do you think Felix?” he looked at your confused. “there has been some days where you’ve been so sweet and it’s hard for me to not catch feelings for you” his eyes widened and you looked down at the ground, way too embarrassed to even look at him.
you could feel your eyes welling up with tears of embarrassment and frustration at the fact you had just admitted to Felix, the one person you’d thought you’d hate for the rest of your life, that you had feelings for him. and you knew that he didn’t feel the same. you could tell by his energy when he was around you.
it was silent, it felt like an eternity waiting for him to say something. when you felt like you’d been standing there long enough you decided it was best for you to leave, you’d embarrassed yourself enough and you just wanted to be alone. you grabbed your bag and started walking away from Felix who was still trying to process everything you had just said.
“y/n wait, don’t leave” he noticed that you were heading for the front door and was quick to follow you. Felix was never good with expressing how he felt and spending this time with you, living with you, made him realise that he was falling for you and that scared him. he’d been in love once before and it ended horribly and he didn’t want the same thing to happen with you.
“i’m going to my parents house don’t follow me. i want to be alone” you continued walking and looked for your car keys in your bag, he could hear the waver in your voice as you tried your hardest to keep your tears at bay until you weee away from him.
Felix continued following you and when he was close enough he grabbed your arm and turned you to face him. in one quick motion Felix pressed his lips against yours. it took you by surprise, it was filled with passion and love.
you quickly kissed him back and dropped your bag on the floor. your arms found their way around his neck, pulling him in closer. you’d been in one relationship and had your fair share of kisses in the past but it was nothing like this.
he pulled away, both of you breathless “please don’t go. i’m sorry i upset you. i am just scared” his eyes looked deeply into yours and you felt your heart flutter. “i’m scared that one day you’re going to find someone better than me because let’s be honest we haven’t gotten along, well, ever” his cheeks flushed a bright shade of red as he confessed his feelings.
“at first i didn’t want to do this marriage but now, it’s all i can think about. i see us getting married, travelling together, having kids together and growing old together and i’ve never felt like this before” you couldn’t believe what you were hearing, Felix Catton the one boy who truly hated was confessing his feelings for you.
“do you think maybe we could start over and try make this work? not like we did the last time in the toilets” you semi-joked which made him smile, you hated to admit it but his smile was beautiful.
“come on, let’s go back inside it’s freezing out here” he said, pulling away from your hold but he grasped your hand and squeezed it softly. “i can’t believe you dropped your birkin bag for me” you picked it up and looked it over. “you’re lucky, it has no marks on it. looks as good as the day i bought it”
the two of you made your way back inside hand in hand, happy that you both finally expressed your feelings for one another. the only thing left was for the two of you to get married.

I redesigned him again despite saying I would stop doing that... Prev design and old bio here.
He still has a lot of the same features as my previous design, i mostly just changed his pattern and coloring! I wanted him to be a rustier color!
I also changed his cheek fluff to be round, mostly just for an interesting face shape! his cheek fluff hangs a little more flat when he's older just to give him a more matured look (hes been thru some shit, his cheeks hath deflated)

Firesight has chronic pain (and mobility issues later in life):
Fire has the Scottish Fold breed's mutation which effects cartilage in the body, this causes his ears to fold, but it also causes chronic joint pain and can progress into swollen and inflexible joints.
For Fire, he is has the heterozygous version of this mutation, which means that his disability progresses more slowly, as a young cat he does experience some joint pain, with some days being worse than others. He is able to medicate with his own chronic pain herbal mix he created as a Healer. However as Fire grows older his joints will worsen, and by the time of his old age he will be unable to jump and some days is unable to walk.
He is able to still use his medication to aid him and is able to lead a happy life, but he is disabled and I didnt want to leave that out of his character! It's important to have disability rep (and spread awareness of the issues with the Scottish Fold breed) and I hope I serve him justice!

Just some basic sketch ideas but I figured I could drop my own design concepts for the Golden Goddesses
(More rambles under the cut)
I made designs for each of them way back in the day. But my art was very different and the designs also lacked a lot.
Plus I finally decided to jump onto the whole bandwagon of designing the Goddesses similar to the Oracles. Cause come on. You cannot have a narrative where three important immortal beings have counterparts that have magical abilities and are named the exact same way and not have any kind of connection.
Besides that I wanted to add a little more to each design and what I chose for it as well as some aspects and references.
Keep in mind that these are still sketches and I'll probably change some things in their final final versions.
First up Din:
The most obvious design choices here are the long ponytail as well as the large golden armrings.
Both design details are derived directly from Din from Oracle of Seasons. It's some solid design details that immediately catch everyone's attention who know the character. So I decided to put those two aspects front and center.
Besides that I also implemented some design choices that represented the Goron Ruby as well as the Goron Bracelet from Ocarina of Time. You can see it in the other jewelry that she's wearing.
Her dress wasn't inspired by anything really, but I did want her to have a bit more of a similar aspect like the Gerudo. But I'm not sure it came off that way.
Next, Nayru:
Like with Din I took inspiration from the Oracle of Ages herself. Again the hair as well as the arm sleeves which are both design details on Nayru from Oracle of Ages.
The Zora Sapphire is also once again interrogated into the design as well.
As for the outfit it was meant to both be similar to a more Royal clothing style as well as simulate fins in relation to the Zora.
I'm the least satisfied with her design however, so she will probably get some more changes done once I finish them up.
And last, Farore:
I wanted her to be the shortest and youngest looking one of them all, keeping the trend and following the designs of the Oracles.
Once more the hair returns as a dead giveaway to the connection to the Oracle of Secrets. One thing I did change with her design a bit more is how her's is a little representative of armor. At least in theory.
Not only are her shoulder pads a design reference to her Oracle counterpart, but they also work as armor as well. Since she is the Goddess of Courage and associated with Link, I figured I should give her some fighting and warrior aspects.
The bottom of her dress is also meant to represent "armor" in a theoretical sense. It's meant to look similar to chainmail patterns but it doesn't now that I think about it. It's meant to be accessories to the dress but I figured I could make it look a little cooler.
For some overall design choices I'll probably change:
I 100% want to try and integrate the Triforce a lot more. I don't think there is anything in their designs hinting at it, which sucks because these are the Golden Goddesses. The ones who created the Triforce. Of course it needs to be on their designs.
I might change some other things as well. Maybe Farore's dress and I'm def changing Nayru's arm sleeves.
Din is almost practically perfect the way I want her to be. Maybe just some cleanup here and there. But that's about it.

i can't help but feel like my drawing days are kind of over. not entirely, i'll still be drawing from time to time. and deffo not because i want to. but i'm having this exact same feeling since mid 2022, since i was really struggling with my elective period, i kind of disconnected with art there and never truly found my way back. on top of everything that came after - moving, starting a job and working to be good at it which leaves such little room for other things because i can't handle my life well - there is just so much horrible shit going on. and i'm having a hard time comprehending it.
a part of me also feels very stupid for drawing one thing for almost 4 years now constantly, but another part of me knows "hey, but this makes you happy". it's a constant battle in my head because online spaces are like school grounds, and i don't actually wanna stand in the corner as that one kid that just can't shut up about that one character. but then again all i ever did was drawing fanart so... what does it. who gives a shit. be cringe and be free alright. but it kinda feels so hollow, esp. when you're at it for so long. a lot of mutuals move on. some are not even active anymore anywhere. and i wonder what happened. plus a huge chunk of the tone of the fandom has changed. also with the source material getting butchered so hard (since the release of ow2) it just kills the fun. playing this game used to be fun. playing this game was one thing that helped me getting through the last meters of university. it's like watching the downfall of the simpsons again without making the comparison too set in stone, just... this thing that used to be decent and nice and watching it getting ruined in real time (broken promises about pve, the recent gameplay changes?? the lore was fucked up from the start but they kind of tried, now it's just skins for 20+ dollars) while still having feelings for the characters is shit. anyway...
i recently went through a big folder of stuff i'd drawn at the age of 12-15 and there were so many fucked up but cool monster and cyborgs designs and just silly stupid stuff and all i could think of was that i felt so distanced from it, like i don't even know i think this is normal? because a lot of time has passed and a lot has happened and i knew i've drawn all this but i wasn't able to locate the person who did in my present me now and... it's just so normal that things move constantly forward but i feel like i missed huge chunks and passed a few stops and now i'm kind of lost.
i don't even know what i'm trying to say here anymore. i just feel sad because it feels like sth is slipping out of my grasp or sth has changed tremendously and i don't know how to make damage control.
i keep trying tho, i try to draw once a week at least. it's just like as soon as i take a step back and look at it i don't feel it at all. gonna continue tho, until it makes sense again i hope.

The answer: said universe being the dimension where you and your nemesis of a coworker are deeply in love.

The large auditorium was filled with bright eyed physicists, neurologists, and journalists from all over the world. Why wouldn’t it be? You, one of the intelligent scientists who is working on a five-year long secret project under the government, was presenting it to the world. Making this presentation its official debut (right after there was a press conference done to announce that the government had created a machine to travel to different parallel universes with.)
You just had to stay confident. You knew what you were doing—creating history. At least the bright stage lights made it almost impossible to see your audience.
“There have been rumors and there have been conspiracies about this. Many false claims as well, but I’m here to bare it all. Ladies and gentlemen, introducing, the Dimension Shifter 8.” The large screen behind you projects the image of a small chair with a helmet attached to it.
Uncannily, It looked like an electric chair.
“I know, I know, the design is a little…unsettling.” Your joke earns you a few laughs. “But, it actually represents the basis of the principle behind parallel universes.”
Hundreds of eyes trailed your figure as you walked across the stage to a table with a glass of water. It was kept there in case you got thirsty or cotton-mouthed mid speech. You take a small sip and place the glass down.
“I just created a new reality. By taking a sip of water, I created a new reality. Crazy, isn’t it? Because somewhere out there, is a dimension where I didn’t take a sip of water and continued with my speech.”
You hear faint scratches of pencils and pens against notepads and you giggle internally, thinking how a few years ago, you were in the exact same position.
“You see, different realities stem from right here,” you say as you tap your temple. “Your consciousness is split into multiple different universes. This machine just helps you travel to them. Ergo, your body doesn’t change. Just your consciousness.”
The scratches get a little louder.
“So, for example, say that I travelled to a universe where I was a man instead of a woman, I’d be conscious about the change in my body and so would my ‘other’ self.” He’d be a man aware that he’s in this—“ you point down your body with your index finger “—a woman’s body. Fascinating, isn’t it?”
The presentation goes surprisingly well considering how nervous you were and the questionnaire that followed afterwards had exhausted you to the bone.
You were finally going to get the full night’s rest you’d been craving for the past few years. Working on one of mankind’s greatest inventions was taxing and you’d been holding on to your sanity by the threads of caffeine and free pastries in the break room.
But as soon as you entered your hotel room, you were surprised with a loud pop and confetti all over your woolen grey trench coat. At least you had packed your lint roller with you.
Your coworkers gathered around you, patting your back, giving you hugs and congratulating you on being the most popular panelist at the convention.
“It was so crazy, I swear one of the other panelists only had like, what? Ten listeners? People were tripping over each other to get a seat for your presentation!” Gojo clamored as he patted your head.
“Well, it was our work. I just presented it,” you bashfully replied as you walked over to your closet, taking off your coat to hang it in.
“Still, you’re the face of it and your credentials are what drove people to you. Which is why we’re going out to celebrate. Yaga’s buying,” Shoko said as she handed you a red solo cup. The ominous smell of the liquid inside was enough to tell you that it was another one of her famous cocktails that was guaranteed to get a person sloshed with one sip.
“Um…I’d love to drink this but my tolerance is not what it used to be back in college,” you say as you move away from Shoko and instead pull out your sleepwear from your closet. “I think I’m just gonna turn in for the night. You guys go out.”
Your coworkers looked at you with a dumbfounded expression. “Uh, did you not hear Shoko? Yaga’s buying. Even Nanami’s coming along and he’s a philosophical drunk. It’ll be fun, come on,” Gojo wrapped his long arms around you and gave you puppy dog eyes.
The man was more of an overbearing child than a scholar with multiple degrees.
You looked around the room, and everyone looked at you with hopeful eyes except for one person—Geto Suguru. He wasn’t even making eye contact, too busy with his pupils trained on his phone.
It didn’t surprise you that he hadn’t even spoken a word since you’d entered the room. The man despised your guts since the day you two had known each other.
You weren’t even sure why he felt that way. He just began throwing condescending remarks at you and simply ignored you right after work hours. Going as far as to pretending like you didn’t exist when you saw him at the same grocery store as you.
But the man finally broke his silence when Gojo began unnaturally whining. “Let it go. I told you she wouldn’t come,” he said without looking away from his phone. “Yaga texted me that he’s waiting downstairs. Said he’ll take back his offer if he doesn’t see us in five.”
All your colleagues (except Geto) gave you one last longing look, hoping that you’d change your mind and you simply shook your head. “I’m really tired,” you sighed out.
There was a collective groan from Shoko and Gojo but Nanami simply patted your back to congratulate you one last time as the trio walked out—leaving you and Geto alone in your room.
Geto walked over and stopped when he was nearly toe-to-toe with you. His obsidian gaze raked over your exhausted figure as his scent clouded your personal space.
You can’t help but feel exposed and self conscious for wearing a figure hugging dress, despite its modesty in length. Your heels help you feel taller than you usually do next to him but it’s of no avail because he still has to bend his neck to make eye contact.
He smelled like coffee and fragrant talcum. You had the scent memorized. It had a special seat in your amygdala, years of memories of working with him rushing into your head every time you smelled something faintly familiar.
You peered up at him with half-lidded eyes, sleep already taking over every single cell, melatonin slowly secreting into your system.
“I was there today…watching you. It was good.” His voice was smooth and rich; your skin felt like it was melting and fusing to the fibers of your linen pencil dress.
“I—“
Before you could thank him for his unexpected compliment, he had already brushed past you with a momentary palm on your waist and walked out the door.
The slamming of your door had jolted you out of your clouded haze.
Bright minds can also be catty. It’s what you’ve learned after being in academia and later on joining industrial research.
You just didn’t think that people would do it when the government was paying them to create something that elevated humanity to the next step of being a supreme civilization.
After the announcement of the Dimension Shifter 8, the federal research institute you were working under had announced for the need of human subjects to test out the machine. It had worked perfectly fine on animals with higher intelligence, such as monkeys, but now it was time to see if a person who had just travelled dimensions could give their own accounts of what they saw.
Meaning, the next half of your project was about to begin: the effects of one’s consciousness quantum jumping to another world.
There were a steady number of applicants who had sent their info in (mainly due to the compensation money) and they were set arrive the next morning.
“You cannot possibly expect me to work closely with him again. I can handle the final touches myself,” you tried to convince Yaga as your trainers squeaked against the lab facility’s tiles. The man was exceptionally tall at six feet and three inches, making it hard for your shorter stature to catch up with his much larger, and relaxed pace.
“I know you can. But Geto himself suggested that he should be there to correct and verify every tweak you make. He was adamant about it so I let him join,” the older man said nonchalantly. His years of being a Principal Investigator had taught him not to worry about employee dynamics.
Who cares about mental stability, amirite?
“Wait, Geto insisted? Does he know that it’s me who’ll be working with him?”
“Yeah,” Yaga coolly replied. Your eyes nearly pop out of your skull. Either the man wanted to torture you or didn’t trust you enough to do anything.
You think it’s both.
Yaga ignores your clamoring when he walks into his office to settle into the massage chair a government official had oh so gratefully gifted him after the machine’s first prototype had been completed.
“Now, I’m exhausted and you have a whole night’s work ahead of you. Chop, chop!”
With a huff and a finger rubbing your temple, you walk to the authorized personnel restricted lab, where the greatest invention of mankind since instant noodles sat (this has been your opinion since you were a broke college student. The success of your career still cannot buy the rush of serotonin you’d get when you’d slurp the ultra processed, floppy noodles from a paper cup after a long day of studying and sucking up to professors.)
You immediately walk to the storage area where all the things you’ll need are kept: converters, amplifiers and, electrodes.
You carry them all in a cardboard box and place them on the counter next to the machine, which was placed on a small stage in the middle of the lab.
Your eyes glanced at the wall clock. It had been an hour since the work day had ended, and you half expected Geto to arrive much earlier due to his heavy distrust in you.
But surprisingly, he was late.
You continued tweaking the machine, checking the wires and tightening certain bolts. You noticed that the helmet adjuster was jammed so you tightened the screws and applied more lubricant for smoother movement.
You still weren’t convinced that the adjuster would move well so you sat in the chair and pulled down the helmet on your head. And as you had predicted, the adjuster stopped working as you tried to pull up the helmet. “Bingo,” you mumbled to yourself as you recorded the improvements you had made in past hour in your report book.
“Now, I’m just gonna slink out—“
“Planning on being a test subject? What? Yaga cut your pay or something?” Geto’s deep voice jolted you out of your work rhythm. You were still sitting in the chair when he had walked in.
The man effortlessly exuded charm. Compared to you, he was much more well dressed at work, sporting a simple long sleeved polo under his lab coat. Instead of ratty trainers, he wore comfortable ankle boots, making him look more like an attractive and laidback software engineer than an uptight physicist. His hair was always pulled back in a neat half-man bun, and sometimes he’d tie it up completely, giving you a small peak at the tattoos snaking up to the base of his neck.
Not that you thought about his naked, broad back that often. He just had good proportions and you were curious about his gym routine. Though you’d slap yourself on your face in front of the world before asking him that.
“The adjuster was stuck. I was just checking what’s wrong with it. Now I know,” you flatly answered.
“Sure,” he retorted as he grabbed a screw driver and squatted on the ground next to you as you were still sitting on the machine.
The fragrant smell of talcum wafted around you again. It was oddly comforting. Habitual even, with the way your brain would send phantom signals to your nose whenever you’d read his name on lab reports and research papers.
“I could’ve taken care of this by myself, you know. As much as you hate to admit it, I’m just as smart as you. I can figure out tiny mistakes.” You didn’t like the fact that you were basically being babysat by someone—you felt like your work was being questioned.
And by a peer of all people.
“Why didn’t you just ask Nanami to work with me?”
“He’s going on a date today.”
“Nobara? Gojo?”
“Said they didn’t wanna work overtime.” His replies were curt. Much like his concern for you.
“So you just decided to work until the next morning cause you’re such a deligient scientist?”
“Is that so hard to believe?” Geto stared at you like he was going to swallow you whole. You could hear everything from how close he was next to you. The faint sound of him exhaling through his nose, his lab coat rustling as he continued working on the adjuster, and the slick sound of him licking his lips.
It kind of sounded like—
The lab is not a sexy place to be hot and bothered.
He didn’t wait for your answer though. He simply used his screw driver to tap on your report book that was sitting on your lap.
He changed the subject, “What have you done so far?”
“Uh, this and that. I was actually calibrating the machine when I noticed that the adjuster wasn’t—“
“You were calibrating?” His tone suddenly goes from deep and smooth to sharp and calculating.
“Yeah,” you replied with a small yet concerned voice.
“You did turn off the machine after that, right?”
Your brain was fuzzy. You couldn’t recall. The dread sitting in the pit of your stomach weighed you down, preventing you from moving your head and checking if the machine was on.
Were you… no, no way.
His focus had entirely shifted to you, screwdriver abandoned in the toolbox. He moved to sit across you, still on the ground.
“Hey, look at me, Did you turn off the machine? I won’t tell anyone. I promise.” Your eyes were wide with terror.
“Geto, I need you to look at the oscillograph,” you rasped out. Cold sweat began to trickle down your neck, wetting the collar of your shirt. You were starting to feel nauseous and lightheaded.
His glanced at the monitor behind you and his jaw went slack. “Okay, listen to me, I need you to be completely calm, when I tell you this—the machine is on and you’re being transported as we speak. Don’t move. We don’t know what could happen to you.”
“Geto, you need to get me out, please. I’m really scared,” you sobbed as tears began to flow down your face.
You didn’t give a damn about looking pathetic to your hated coworker because your brain was just about to be turned into quantum smoothie (no matter how hard you wanted to believe in your abilities of invention, there was still a small chance that this machine would destroy your consciousness on an atomic level.)
“It’s okay, I’m right here. For all we know, more than half of your current consciousness may have already travelled to another dimension. It would be dangerous to stop the machine now.” You could only wail harder at his conclusion.
His large hand holds your cheek as he earnestly looks into your tear-filled eyes. “I swear I will map the dimension you’re going to and bring you back in one piece. Just remember that I—“
Static fills your senses before you can hear Geto complete his sentence.

What if the turtles were in the pokemon world? And what if they were never turtles, but in fact, mutated pokemon? What if they lived in the Castelia sewers of Unova instead of New York?
Meet my Rise/Pokemon AU!! Waaaah this has been on my mind for MONTHS now. Pokemon is that one fixation that'll never leave me. I'm THAT pokemon fan that knows WAAAAY too much about the games and lore. For those that don't know,
Raph is Drednaw
Leo is Wartortle
Mikey is Torkoal
Donnie is Lapras
Yes. They are all shiny. I started with raph, since him as drednaw is pretty much a no brainer. The shiny form fit too well with him and his color scheme. Than I realized if I made him shiny, I had to make the other bros shiny as well so THEY ALL SHINY. (draxum shiny hunter confirmed?) Also dual rock typing fits well with raph's character.
Wartortle for leo was also a pretty obvious choice. I MEAN LOOK AT HIM. Long flowy tail? Yes please. I had to keep his markings somehow. Wartortle has little dark cheek spots, so I just changed them to be leo's markings. Water typing leo. Go with the flow, think on the spot, it worked out too well.
Torkoal for Mikey was another easy one. Fire turtle? Passionate, warm, also DANGEROUS (he can be a menace ok) Say no more. His powers in rise are already pyro related. Also having him shiny helped a lot with the color scheme. Torkoal is normally orange so having mikey be the yellow shiny form meant I didn't have to mess with his mask colors
Donnie on the other hand....OHHH BOI I STRUGGLED WITH YOU. I went through 4 DIFFERENT POKEMON, before deciding on the least turtle like of them all. I am aware that we do have a softshell pokemon with enamorous, but it's a legendary so thats not happening. But it was really important for me to keep donnie's soft shell and battle shell. I wanted this to be a RISE au and donnie's battle shell is pretty tied into his character. (there's also tirtouga which I almost went with, but I didn't like that both he and raph shared the exact same dual typing) Soooo, Lapras. Its more of a loch ness monster but it also draws inspiration from a placochelys (prehistoric seaturtle esque species) so IM COUNTING IT. Very unconventional but I have my reasons. Ice typing is a good offensive type, but is pretty bad defensively. Which ties into rise donnie's fighting style. If I wasn't a coward, I wouldve made donnie the biggest of the bros. Since lapras is like 8 feet tall compared to the others being like 1-3 feet. But uhhh, I swear I have an in universe explanation for why he's so small ok.
And than there's April. She is not a pokemon trainer in this au. At least not in the traditional sense. I've been with pokemon for all of my 26 years of life, and I always wanted to know what the normal people of the pokemon world are up to. Not everyone is out here collecting gym badges, travelling, or catching them all. How do non-trainers interact with the pokemon world? So that's where I'm at with April. She will get a pokemon partner, but other than that, she's just an average high schooler who befriended the turtles from a young age and takes part in all their shenanigans. I took some design elements from rosa and hilbert with her outfit, but otherwise its pretty much the same.
We'll see how far I'll take this. I've been using this as a break from my many other projects, but like everything I do, it grew too many legs and is slowly becoming its own thing.

I’m going in chronological order, and doing both A Squad and B Squad, because I’m interested in tracking how the ideal “disney girl” has changed in the last (almost) 90 years. Right now I’m only looking at the human-shaped heroines of Disney animated theatrical releases. A more detailed break-down of the system I’m using is right here, but the basics are these: 
PRIMARY (ie MOTIVE) 
BADGER ~ Loyal to the group.
SNAKE ~ Loyal to yourself and your Important People.
LION ~ Subconscious Idealist. Ideals are linked to feelings and instincts. 
BIRD ~ Conscious Idealist. Ideals are linked to built systems and external facts. 
SECONDARY (ie METHOD) 
BADGER ~ Connect with the group. Make allies, work steadily and well. Be whatever the situation calls for. If you find a locked door, knock.
SNAKE ~ Connect with the environment. Notice things. Tell people what they want to hear. If you find a locked door, get in through the window.
BIRD ~ Collect skills, tools, knowledge, personas, useful friends. If you find a locked door, track down the key or learn to pick the lock.
LION ~ Be honest, be direct, speak your truth. Either the obstacle is going down or you are. If you find a locked door, kick it in.
JANE PORTER (1999)

Disney’s Tarzan is a ridiculously Snake primary movie. Like,  just to make this really, really clear, the first thing we see - the absolute cold open, is - 
Burning ship! Storm! Fire! Tarzan’s parents get into a lifeboat! He looks at her. She looks at him. Phil Collins --
PUT YOUR FAITH IN WHAT YOU MOST BELEEEIVE IN!!!!!!
We get it. You can lose literally everything, but if you’ve still got your Person, you’re going to be OK. 
And this movie’s ethos is definitely Snake, not Loyalist. Badger primaries do not get a flattering edit. The antagonist for the first half is Tarzan’s adoptive father Kerchack, who is deeply protective of his band of gorillas (all girls, by the way. He's the only guy. Which is how gorillas work, and the film doesn’t exactly bring attention to it, but still. Interesting detail.) He’s a loud Badger primary: the only thing that matters is keeping his family out of danger, and from his perspective Tarzan is a problem from day one. He is too obviously an outsider, not a true member of the community, and Kerchack makes it clear that Tarzan is not his son. “You can’t learn to be one of us," he says.
The antagonist for the second half of the film (it’s a weirdly structured film) is the Jaguar/Clayton. They are 100% the same entity. Clayton shows up immediately after the Jaguar dies, and shows up wearing the exact same color palette. There is a recurring misunderstanding where Tarzan refers to the sound of a gunshot as “Clayton.” This is not supposed to be a person, this is violence personified.

Clayton is also our visual representation of The British Empire/Colonialism, with his spats and his khakis and little pencil mustache, and Brian Blessed doing his voice. He is there to grab the resources (gorillas) and take them back to England. So… that means we’ve got some more Toxic Badger going on here too.
In this film, the Badger primary idea of “community” is framed as stifling, artificial, at odds with nature. Clayton, Jane, and Jane’s father show up in the jungle dressed all wrong, and while the sympathetic Porters gradually shed layers, Clayton’s character design never changes. He does not learn to adapt to the jungle, he is only England™
There’s also the recurring joke of Jane’s “Proper Victorian Lady” persona. It’s very useful for getting Clayton specifically to do things for her�� but she also brings it out in moments where it seems false and not terribly appropriate. Like when she’s talking to monkeys, or to Tarzan. The second she realizes that Tarzan can speak English she snaps into “Proper Victorian Lady” instead of following up on the attraction that’s clearly there. She’s holding him at arm's length, and why??? The moment where he comes out dressed in European clothing is bittersweet, like Tarzan is hiding or losing part of himself. “Society” is at odds with instinct/freedom/love, and in terms of Primary, that’s the major conflict between Tarzan and Jane.
JANE. Tarzan, you can't imagine what's in store for you. You're going to see the world. Everyone's going to want to meet you. Kings, scientists and famous writers. (...)  TARZAN. And I'll be with Jane.
Jane is talking like a Badger (you’ll be part of the community.) Tarzan is talking like a Snake (I’ll be with you.) And Jane DOES feel like a Badger through most of the movie. She talks a good game. But right at the end - when it really comes down to it - that’s not the call she makes. 
JANE. I belong in England, with you and people and — PROFESSOR PORTER. But you love him. Go on.
At which point Jane joyfully jumps off the boat and swims to shore, implying that her Badger primary was a model, and she was always a Snake primary underneath. 
Jane Porter might model Double Badger extremely well, but she’s actually a double Snake like Megara. She’ll go all Proper Victorian Lady to flatter Clayton, but she’ll also manipulate the baby monkey (“Oh I can’t believe you fell for that one”) before commenting on how its performance isn’t quite up to her standards (“Don’t give me those crocodile tears.”) She’s also something of a Single-Player Environment snake. When she gets comfortable, she starts learning how to use the things in her environment. She’s delighted when she learns she can use her parasol as a weapon. Jane also seems to pick up that Tarzan is a Bird secondary and interacts with him accordingly, which her slideshow of buildings, customs, and art from the mainland.
(Tarzan is definitely a Bird secondary: he's an inventor, he makes weapons, he loves teaching himself things. He’s much more tactical than Kerchak, who - as a 300 pound gorilla - uses his lion secondary to literally charge into fights. Phil Collins tells us all we need to know about Tarzan with the lyrics: “I want to know / Can you show me?” Perfect Snake Bird anthem.)
When we see Jane at the very end of the film she’s entirely improvisational and fluid, down to her absolute bottom layer of clothing, surfing the vines with Tarzan. It’s a gorgeous bit of animation. I definitely get a sense of the joy she feels at being so unconstrained and evenly matched. That's one more thing that makes me think she's a Snake secondary, who ends the film in Neutral.
KIDADIKASH  “KIDA” NEDAKAH (2001)

Atlantis is so close to being a good movie. All it needs is a slightly longer runtime, and like… two less characters. (Mole and Cookie. Don’t need them.) Kida gets less screen time compared than some of the the other ladies on this list, but she has enough presence and a cool enough design that she easily earns heroine status. It also helps that she’s basically the plot.
Kida wants to restore the traditions and knowledge her people have lost, and that motivates pretty much everything she does. She finds the history and culture of her ancestors deeply important, comforting and grounding in a very Badger primary sort of way, and laments that “We were once a great people. Now we live in ruins. The kings of our past would weep if they could see how far we have fallen.” She is very much not Jane, who needs to shake off “civilization” in order to live her best life. 
The problem though, is that Kida falls into a very Badger primary trap. When she’s asked to give up everything to protect the group - including her well-being and identity - she does it without a second thought. She gets turned/turns herself into a magic crystal in order to power her civilization while it’s under threat, and I cannot think of a better metaphor of what it means to be an Invisible Badger, who is only the group with no identity outside it.
The ‘Heart of Atlantis’ crystal that “thrives on the collective emotions of all who came before us [and] in return, provides power, longevity, protection” is just a good metaphor for a ‘Badger Primary’ in general. Also, the way that the Atlantean King tries to weaponize it, ultimately destroying his civilization, works as a metaphor for the way a Badger primary can Explode, becoming authoritarian and harmful to the same people it is trying to protect.
Clearly the film itself is not a fan of this decision, as our protagonist Milo loves Kida and does everything he can to un-crystal her. I think it’s implied that his love is one of the main things tethering her to humanity? Still, I would say that this film, unlike Tarzan, has a pretty Badger ethos. King Kashekim is our tragic misguided Snake primary, willing to let his whole civilization crumble so long as he gets to keep his daughter, and our villains seem to be mostly Hedonist Snake treasure hunters, willing to destroy a culture so long as they get paid. The film is definitely critical of certain types of Badger primaries, but ends on a note of collectivism. Milo has finally found a community that values him, and he stays behind to help Kida, now the Atlantean Queen, rebuild her civilization. She’s still a Badger, just one with better boundaries. 
She’s also a Lion secondary. Kida moves in straight lines, speaks her mind, and doesn’t care if you have a problem with that. She does the thing where she’s so honest and blunt it’s almost rude. I suspect that her father is also a Lion secondary - we know that he was reckless and militaristic when he was young, and he seems positive that if Kida even knew about the Heart of Atlantis, she would make the Lion secondary call and dive headfirst into it. Sadly, in the main timeline of the movie the King’s secondary is extremely burned, and he’s basically incapable of any kind of action. 
Milo has an idealistic Lion primary that's a bit Burnt at the start of the film. When we meet him, he’s spent years being told that everything he believes is a joke, and he’s finally starting to doubt himself, scraping by just using his Bird secondary. Like a lot of Burnt Lions, Milo latches onto someone (Kida) for their confidence and their purpose. Luckily, once he unBurns there's a Paragon Lion under there that matches up very well with her Badger.
LILO PELEKAI (2002)

Lilo is an interesting one to sort, because she’s little - and also kinda going through it. Her parents died in a (fairly recent) car crash, and even though they’re not *on screen* and honestly mentioned very little… their absence is felt. Lilo's unofficial family motto is “Ohana means family, family means nobody gets left behind.” But objectively, Lilo’s parents did her behind, and she spends the entire film trying to reconcile that.
Lilo is very young, dealing with a tragedy, and I also think the interpretation that she’s on the autism spectrum makes a lot of sense. We see her having meltdowns, struggling to transition from one activity/location to another, she clearly wants to make these connections with kids her own age, but it’s just… not working. All of that could absolutely point to a five (six?) year old on the spectrum. So the question becomes - okay, so is Lilo acting this way because that’s her personality, or is she acting this way because of the autism/trauma? That's a question I get a lot, and my answer is… I don’t think the traits this system is interested in are created out of nowhere. But, circumstances can absolutely make them louder or softer. 
Like, Lilo has a number of very strict rules that tip over into magical thinking. She can only eat peanut butter sandwiches because she has to feed part of her sandwich to her fish, and she can’t feed her fish tuna (dead fish) because that’s “an abomination.” It’s very important that she keeps her fish happy because her fish controls the weather. And THAT’S important… because her parents died in a rainstorm. All of this is 100% a coping mechanism: Lilo is trying to create rules in a chaotic world to feel safer. She’s after a sense of control. This also ties into her fascination with 'goodness' versus 'badness:' she’ll say things like “I’ll be good I promise,” worry about being an “abomination,” make charts of Stitch's "badness level" and also voodoo dolls because “my friends need to be punished.”  It’s something she's focused on, and I think it’s because she is aware that… she’s kind of a problem.  
Her older sister Nani loves her… but Nani also loses her patience (she’s 21, 22 at most) and Lilo is aware that she stresses out her sister and makes her life more difficult. But, she has trouble changing her behavior because she's, you know, a traumatized autistic six-year-old. Which is really important when it comes to understanding Lilo’s relationship with Stitch. On one level, she identifies with the way he leaves all this destruction in his wake. He makes her look better by comparison, and I think she also sees a path towards redemption in teaching Stitch to be “good” (ie - useful and less weird.) When she tells him “You wreck everything you touch, why not try to make something” - I think she’s projecting, and really talking about herself. If Lilo is teaching Stitch to be good, then she has a purpose, and a way to affect the world. We know that feeling powerless is a big thing for Lilo. 
So, if I’m putting her in the SHC system, she is definitely an External primary. None of this is about being true to your heart or even being true to another person, this is trying to figure out the rules of the world and putting together a workable system to live with. This focus on morality and punishment is also something I see a lot with young External primaries. While this trait might have been exaggerated by the events of Lilo's life, I do think it’s something that was just in her the whole time. 
At first I thought she was a Badger, because of the way Lilo focuses on the importance of family. Also, her first instinct after she thinks Stitch has betrayed her is to outgroup him: “You’re one of them - get out of here.” But “Ohana means family” seems like it was something her parents said a lot, and ‘Stitch isn’t one of us,’ is something she’s heard from Nani (absolutely a Badger primary.) I think a big reason Lilo values hula dancing is because hula dancing is important to Nani.
So now I’m leaning towards Lilo being a young Bird, trying to cobble together a system for understanding the world under non-ideal circumstances. She’s very comfortable believing fantastical things, and is cool with accepting that Stitch is a weird kind of dog. Like Tarzan and Atlantis, Lilo and Stitch is lightly critical of that Badger ethos: the group is wonderful, yes - but the group will not always be there. The conclusion Lilo (and the film) comes to is: Ohana means family, family means never getting left behind… but sometimes people leave. Either because they want to, or because they have to. What you have to do is remember them. You make them part of yourself. As Lilo puts it, "I’ll remember you, though. I remember everyone that leaves." I think this is such a lovely way of understanding Bird primaries, which unfortunately have a reputation for being cold and detached.
In terms of secondary, I think Lilo is probably a Lion. She’s very direct, very honest, terrible at lying, and unintentionally trails destruction. Nani tries to give her a kind of script to follow when the social worker comes over - but even in the moment she seems to know it’s kind of a lost cause. However, Lilo is also really young and the narrative doesn’t give her the opportunity to solve many problems. So I would not be surprised if Lilo's secondary looks different when she gets older. She is fascinated by Stitch, and Stitch is a shapeshifter-mimic. He’s kind of a cartoon version of a Snake secondary. Maybe that's a clue that Lilo's best self is a Snake Secondary too, but she hasn’t built a bridge to that part yet. Eh, I could see it either way. Definitely an Improvisational secondary though.
NANI PELEKAI (2002)

Nani is a very Burnt Badger primary. There’s this recurring thing with her and her love interest David, where they’re kinda dating, or were dating… either way, Nani can’t quite bring herself to let him into her life. Even though she likes him, he likes her, and he even gets along with Lilo. She spends a lot of the film looking like she’s 100% focused on her little sister in a Snake primary way… but Burnt Badgers look like miserable, stressed-out Snakes, and that is absolutely Nani. She clearly used to have a big community - at one point she even tries to leverage it for a job. But I think she responded to the death of her parents by closing up, refusing to let anyone new close to her. She might lose them too, and that would hurt too much. 
This film is also really good at putting Nani in situations that would be really rough on a Badger primary specifically. Nani clearly feels deeply connected to her Hawaiian culture - she’s an accomplished hula dancer, she loves surfing, and in the most heartbreaking scene of the movie she sings “Aloha Oe” to Lilo, when she thinks child protective services are going to take her away in the morning. This is famously a song written by deposed Hawaiian Queen Lili'uokalani, after she was forced to leave her people. These are all things that Nani pulls on to give her strength. However… she is also working as an honestly quite objectified waitress/hula dancer in a theme park-ified version of Hawaii catering to tourists. She’s not happy there, and it's an important moment when she leaves. 
Even when she’s in really serious trouble, Nani can’t bring herself to tell anyone what’s going on, to get help or even just emotional support - and that's the Burnt Badger talking. When she is absolutely at her wit’s end and has no idea what to do, she grabs David and she grabs Lilo and they all go surfing. It’s that Badger primary need for community, even if there’s no way that community is going to help.
Nani is probably a Bird secondary. She practices when she's nervous and has a lot of skills - but is much more overwhelmed during the wacky finale than Lilo, and definitely needs a second to get it together and figure out the situation. She conceptualizes ‘dealing with Lilo’ as a skill that she has learned and gotten better at: she’ll build little ‘traps’ to catch her younger sister, and can translate things into “Lilo.” I think she may have constructed a bit of an Actor Bird model for dealing with her sister (and another for dealing with her boss.) Lilo will use bits of her system to argue with Nani, and clearly expects this strategy to work.  
LILO. Ohana means family. Family means no one gets left behind, or forgotten.  NANI. I hate when you use ‘ohana’ against me.
CAPTAIN AMELIA SMOLLET (2002)

If Nani and Kida share a deep connection to their cultural history, Captain Amelia and Kida share this incredibly direct, blunt, borderline rude Lion secondary. Only Amelia's is is less 'cultural misunderstanding' and more just... British.
Captain Amelia absolutely rubs Jim Hawkins and Doctor Doppler the wrong way (an occupational hazard of being a very loud Lion secondary.) But she also comes off as extremely trustworthy, which something you get from the You-Move secondaries (Lion and Badger.) Amelia is a version of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Alexander Smollett (just also a cat girl, and in space) and this bit from Treasure Island suits Treasure Planet equally well: “Contrary to all my notions, I believe you have managed to get two honest men on board with you, that man [Captain Smollet] and John Silver.” 
Of course, Captain Amelia wins over Jim and Doppler once they understand that she wants her crew to be equally direct right back at her. She wants all the information, as quickly as possible, so she can make the best decisions. Her eyes light up when Doppler tells her she’s wrong about how supernovas work... because she’s able to use the new knowledge to create a daredevil way to escape the situation. Near the end of the film, Jim comes up with a crazy solution that involves a piece of alien tech. He knows how the tech works, doesn’t have time to explain it. But because they’ve had enough practice being honest with each other, Amelia just does what he says - no questions asked.
This is also why she gets so offended when John Silver tries to flatter her… and Silver’s good at flattering. He charms his crew, he charms Jim. But Amelia tells him to “keep that kind of flim-flammery for your space court floozies” because of course the two captains on opposite sides of the mutiny are foils. Silver makes Jim feel important and special. Captain Amelia tells him point-blank when he’s being an idiot and gives him no special treatment. The nuanced position this film takes is that Jim… kinda needs both. 
In this movie about treasure hunting, Captain Amelia is the only character who doesn’t seem to care about the “Loot of a Thousand Worlds" at all. She is here to do her job, and is deeply skeptical about treasure hunting in general. Her speech at her First Mate’s funeral makes her priorities clear: “Mr. Arrow was a fine spacer. Finer than most of us can ever hope to be. But he knew the risks, as do we all. Resume your posts. We carry on.” Her highest praise is that Arrow did his job well... and part of doing your job well is making peace with the fact that you might not make it out alive. She takes her job, her title, and her ship extremely seriously. 
So, Amelia is definitely an Idealist primary, and her Cause seems to revolve around being the best captain possible and… going on adventures. This is also the case with Doppler, who she ends up with at the end. He frames his treasure hunting trip in very Badger primary language when he’s talking to Jim’s very Badger Primary mom… but in reality he just wants to go on an adventure. 
I could honestly see either Lion or Bird primary for Amelia. But, the fact that she’s ex-military and still in good enough standing to write Jim a recommendation letter makes me lean Bird. (I think a Double Lion Amelia would have burned more bridges.) Also, the rules and organizational system she lives by seem to exist outside of her in a very Commodore Norrington sort of way. It’s not something she feels internally, and this is comforting. Honestly, Amelia gives off very Commodore Norrington energy in general, and he’s a pretty loud Bird primary. 
HELEN "ELASTIGIRL" PARR (2004)
( & Bob/Mr. Incredible, Edna Mode)

Helen’s superpower is ‘flexibility,’ so of course she’s going to be an Improvisational secondary. I'm going with Lion instead of Snake because - like Captain Amelia and Kida - Helen is very comfortable being incredibly direct. She actively sets up confrontations, waits in the dark for Bob after he stays out late with Frozone, then actually gets in a plane to confront him when she thinks he’s having an affair.
Bob Parr is also a Lion secondary, and unlike Helen (who is able to turn down the volume during Dash's parent-teacher conference) he has trouble even softening what he says, phrasing it in a way that’s palatable to the person he’s talking to. That trait gets him in trouble with Buddy/Syndrome, then his boss at the insurance company, and there’s also the implication that the government keeps relocating them because Bob keeps blowing their cover. (This is 100% the case in a cut scene set at a neighborhood barbecue, where Bob appears to cut off a finger and instead breaks the knife.) 
I also think the fact that Helen and Bob are both Lion secondaries is a big part of what makes their relationship function. Lion secondaries seem to really value the opportunity to have arguments and fights… while also knowing the interaction is fundamentally safe, and isn’t going to spill over into the other parts of their life. When Bob gets back late, he and Helen fight in a way that honestly just seems like their way of blowing off steam. They’re both able to turn it off completely when the kids walk into the room. 
Helen also calls herself out for “overreacting” and has to force herself to take a moment to think when she first figures out that Bob is lying, a very Lion secondary moment. She gives Violet the insanely Lion secondary advice that “When the time comes, you’ll know what to do. It’s in your blood.” Edna Mode is also a cartoonishly loud Lion secondary, and I'll bet that shared secondary is a big part of why she adores the Parrs. Also, Helen loves her motorcycles, which at least in fiction is a very Lion-secondary coded mode of transportation.
Helen’s flexibility extends to her primary as well. When we first meet Elastigirl in the “documentary” prologue, she’s completely happy doing the superhero thing while Mr. Incredible is already thinking about settling down. But, in the main timeline of the movie, Helen seems perfectly happy doing the suburbia thing and raising the kids. Then in the sequel, after the Deavors convince her that she can do the most good by being a poster child for non-threatening Supers, she has a fantastic time doing *that.* The fact that she’s able to change her worldview so easily without having a big emotional crisis about it (the way that Bob does) makes me think she’s probably a Bird primary. That difference in primaries seems to be where most of the friction in their relationship comes from. 
Helen actually tells us her philosophy in the sequel: “If laws are unjust there are laws to change them, otherwise it’s chaos” and “World is what it is, we have to adapt.” It’s a bit Badger flavored - work within the system, adapt to the system - but the way she lays it out is Bird. And then she gets a little tipsy and starts debating philosophy with the villain for fun. Which is a very Bird primary activity.
VIOLET PARR (2004)

Violet feels very at odds with both her family and her world… and since she’s a Badger primary, that’s especially rough. She wants to fit into a community, but there is no community for her. She’s the only member of the family who actively does not want powers: “We act normal, Mom! I want to be normal (...) What do you know about normal? What does anyone in this family know about normal?” We also get the line, “Mom and Dad’s lives might be in danger, or worse - their marriage.” Which is definitely a joke about Violet’s slightly cartoonish Badger primary priorities. 
It makes absolute sense that she’s so hung up on the idea of popular dreamboat Tony, at the center of so much community, since that's exactly what she wants. And because she herself is very not normal, she tries to hide - both with her superpower and with her hair. Violet is the first computer animated character who wears their hair long and loose, and the animators put in the effort because it’s so tied in with her character. As she gets more and more in tune with her family over the course of the film, the way Violet wears her hair changes. Her mom tucks it behind her ear, her dad comments that he likes this new way she’s wearing it better. She eventually pushes it back with a headband because she’s not hiding from them anymore. Violet is happy and effective being a part of the superhero team that is her family. It’s interesting that her powers (invisiblity, creating force-fields around herself) are fantastic support/team-attack powers, but not that useful on their own.
However, one more source of friction between Violet and the rest of the family is that she’s the only non-Lion secondary. Her little brother Dash is a Lion. (He’s probably a Double Lion like his father, they’ve both even got a little of that Glory Hound Lion primary thing.) But Violet’s powers keep her out of sight, she is the opposite of confrontational. It took me a second to recognize her as a Snake secondary, because most fictional Snakes are much more comfortable around people…  but Violet is also in a less-than-ideal situation. Still, she is observant, good at picking up on what’s going on around her, and uses those things to solve problems. It’s her idea to track down Syndrome using the coordinates he’s put in the rocket, and in the sequel she’s the one who figures out how to use Jack Jack like a gun, and successfully turns the out-of-control ship around.
Violet is sneaky, using her abilities to spy on her parents and stow away on her mom's trip. She doesn’t like using her snake secondary at other people - she’s very self-contained - but she is more than happy to direct it out at the world. Violet is also perceptive when it comes to people, and will often just come right out and say things like “Are we going to talk about it… the elephant in the room” or “I think Dad has made some excellent progress today, but I think it’s time we wind down now.” Which can look a little like Lion... but in this case, it's definitely Neutral Snake.

the navy blue sky starts to brighten into an early morning azure, the sun's rays peeking from behind the city's buildings, just as you knock on the hollow metal door at the back entrance of the hanami ninth night club. the routine clicks of the locks follow shortly after and you're welcomed with a tired, if not slightly hung over, smile from shiro. even this early in the morning he’s dressed in a brown suit that’s a bit big on him, his dark brown hair slicked back and smoking a cigarette.
this was how he looked every time you came by, you swear his suit was the exact same too, but this morning in his slouched, bloodshot eyes, he looked particularly haggard.
“you’re one of my more demanding business partners, you know that?” he says, blowing smoke from his cigarette to his side before tossing the still burning bud on the ground and stomping it out with his shining designer shoes.
“you complain yet answer every time i come knocking,” you retort, holding back your smile, knowing this is just how he was with you. 
the morning air that’s not quite warm enough for the t-shirt you’ve chosen to wear lingers on your exposed skin as he flips through the cash you hand him. he knows you’re good for it, you’ve been doing business with him for over a year now and you’re not about to ruin it nor are you dishonest by nature. but you know it’s just routine and wait patiently. 
he pockets that cash and steps closer inside, leaving the door open so you can hear him while he grabs your things. “don’t get it wrong, i like doing business with you little lady,” his voice muffled as he moves further back into the club. “you may only be a small time customer but even still, your business is appreciated. even if it means gettin’ up this early on a saturday morning,” he return with the wooden crate full of goods. “here you are,” gently he places the box into your arms ensuring you can support the weight before letting go. “see ya next week?”
you smile and nod, shift the crate to sit more comfortably, “see you then. thanks again shiro.” 
he waves goodbye as you turn around and begin to head back into the main street. it’s not far to your destination and you take your time enjoying the early saturday morning that brings a normally unseen beauty to this side of the city. the dozens of small locally owned shops around this area are at least an hour away from opening and the streets are almost empty aside from the handful of early risers taking leisurely walks and the coffee shop that has the sweet, nutty aroma of their specialty coffee lingering in the air. it wasn’t so bad getting up this early when you got to take your time enjoying the little things like this, if anything it helps you prepare for what would be another busy day. the calm before the not-so-bad storm. 
and yet, a storm nonetheless.
as you round the street corner, you support the heavy box with one arm and your hip as you search through your bag for your keys. wallet, chipstick, receipts from the grocery store, loose change but no keys. you make a mental note of how messy your bag is since it’s nearly impossible to find what you’re looking for. just as you’re about to put down your things and dump out the contents of your purse on the sidewalk your fingers find the keyring- 
“getting into trouble, are we?”
you nearly jump out of your skin at the sudden and unexpected voice from behind you, almost dropping the box and your found keys barely hooked onto your index finger in the process. 
with a racing heart you try your best to think clearly, were you about to be caught? get arrested? god dammit, you knew you shouldn’t have gotten so comfortable with this dealing just in case you were caught in the open like you were right now.
“did i scare you? sorry about that, sweets.” his teasing tone doesn’t say he’s actually all that sorry.
in your hurry and the sudden fright you hadn’t registered the voice of the man behind you but the nickname is a dead give away. and now that you think more about it, who else would meet you here this early in this morning if not your number one customer? 
“good morning satoru,” you greet, unable to hide the shakiness in your voice or the fact that your heart rate has not gone down since he made his appearance. you swore it was echoing in the quiet street, only growing louder when he comes into your view, his figure towering over you.
“what’s got you so jumpy?” his dark sunglasses may hide his playful eyes but you know it’s there and see that the smirk on his lips is devilish. “doin’ something you shouldn’t be?”
your breath hitches and slightly paranoid thought passes through your mind, making you fill with guilt and worry.. did he know? 
“haha, i don’t know what you’re talking about,” you reply but god you barely even believe what you’re saying. “i’m just trying to get to work and you show up out of nowhere,” not that it’s an actual complaint and you don’t sound the least bit mad. you liked seeing satoru very much.
he's got the looks of a man chiseled by the delicate hands of the gods themselves and it doesn’t help that he wears gorgeous, perfectly fitted suits and ties that bring out his already breathtaking cerulean eyes from under his snowy, messy undercut. he may be the most gorgeous man you’ve ever seen.
he lifts an eyebrow, no doubt questioning your odd behavior and a little convinced you really were doing something you shouldn’t be but when he smiles wider, almost like he knows your secret or knows he’ll pry it out of you, you think you would spill it if he asked. 
“you’re a terrible liar,” satoru says through his smile and takes the box from you, standing behind you as you unlock the doors to your little bakery and follows you inside. 
you don’t mind him coming in before the bakery is open, it's not the first time and you're sure it wouldn’t be the last. it was a few months ago he wandered in dressed in a similar black suit that he’s wearing today and ordered one of everything you were offering. he's come in almost every day since then and spent enough money that his funds alone could pay for the rent on the shop but truthfully, even if he didn’t spend a small fortune here, you enjoy his company more than you’d like to admit out loud.
satoru places the box down next to the cash register and leans against the counter, silently watching you tie your apron over your light blue jeans and black shirt, preparing for the weekend morning rush. 
aside from miwa, who was god sent working the front of the bakery, you basically run this place by yourself. you baked, you bought supplies, you balanced the books and dedicated your life to this bakery. a dream you shared with your parents once, one you hope they could be proud of had they survived that fateful day.
“tell me, what were you up to this morning?” satoru questions when you come to open the box from the opposite side of the counter. you pretend the shimmer of his beautiful eyes don’t affect you as he pulls down his glasses and flashes his baby blues at you, batting light lashes to try to get it out of you.
you can feel the heat rising to your cheeks under his flirtatious gaze, your heart hammering under his attention and his playfully sweet tone that might get any person to spill their secrets. “i told you - nothing!” 
your denials are not convincing even to your own ears and his devious expression, still partly hidden by his dark glasses, told you he wasn’t believing a word you were saying but he knew he was close to getting what he wanted. 
he was right before, you are a terrible liar. 
“you can trust me,” he adds and your heart lurches like it believes him. “i won't tell. i’m just curious about what kind of trouble you’re getting yourself into,” he smirks, pulling off his glasses entirely, leaning in closer to you.
you can feel the butterflies from your stomach in your throat as you find it hard to speak with his scent filling your nose, his warmth palpable but still so far away. it's not fair, you think, he knows just how to fluster you and ever since you met him he’s been shameless in doing so.
what started out as compliments you thought was just him being nice, or just enjoying your baking, had turned into intense flirting starting after he showed up as you were locking up one night about a month ago and pleaded with you that he’d pay anything for whatever you had left over from the day. just as you do now, you found it impossible back then to say no to his charm and ended up spending the whole night at the shop talking over cake and mochi.
“come on sugar, tell me.”
“fine!” you break your gaze away from his and focus on the box, hoping you're hiding your burning cheeks well. after you’ve opened the box you grab his hand, putting the contents he wanted to know so badly about in his palm. 
his mouth opens slightly, eyebrows knitting. “a mango?” he questions, looking between you and the fruit in cute confusion.
“yes, a mango that could get me into some trouble. it’s imported from africa, but it’s against customs so i buy them and some other fruits and sugars.. illegally,” you whisper the last word as if someone might hear you even though the shop is empty besides the two of you.
satoru chuckles in amusement but to your surprise, he doesn’t tease you. “why all that trouble for a mango?”
“for someone who eats the goods i bake almost every day you should be able to tell the difference from the other fruits i use versus other places you’ve been,” you tease, taking the fruit from him. “these mangoes are sweeter and creamier than ones you would get here. i’m hurt you can’t tell the difference,” you clutch onto your chest dramatically.
without skipping a beat, he says in an oddly serious tone, “i thought it was because you make them that they taste like that.”
it’s as if your heart is doing somersaults in your chest as you stare at him. god dammit, why did he have to be so adorable and handsome? you might be more happy about it if you knew he wasn’t like this with every pretty girl and handsome man he sees. you’ve seen it first hand with some of your other customers. it didn’t stop you from indulging a bit. his attention is nice and harmless flirting never hurt anyone. right?
the chiming of the bell above the door breaks the trance he had put you in and you’re thankful for the interruption before he was able to poke fun at your flustered state or see the crush you had on him written all over your face.
“morning miwa,” he greets your assistant and only employee.
miwa has gotten quite used to satorus presence in the bakery as well. not long ago she insisted that you should go out with him despite his flirty nature. ‘he’s so beautiful. i bet he’s strong too,’ she sighed dreamily before going on about how she could never go after him, as her heart was already spoken for, and you have his attention so you must go for it.
easier said than done miwa.
“morning mr. gojo,” she replies, pumping her light blue eyebrows at you when she passes by, as if to say ‘go for it girl!’ before disappearing into the back to clock in and get ready to help with preparations for the morning rush. 
you roll your eyes at her and turn around to return to your own preparations. 
satoru watches intently as you cut mangoes, mix dough, run into the back to place things in the oven and get the display case ready simultaneously. he’s sat and watched you prepare for the morning rush a few times by now but you still find the time to talk with him, admire him as he texts on his phone but quickly pull your gaze away when his eyes find yours, and reply to the other questions he has about your illegal activities. 
where are you getting them from? you sure they’re trustworthy? how much are you paying? is this the only dealer you’ve worked with? and the questions go on and on.
“i thought you said you were a businessman, not a cop.”
you try to play it off innocent but a part of you is worried that maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to tell him. you trusted shiro and whatever means he used to procure your imported goods and you know better than to tell anyone of him or what he does for you. 
he hasn’t said it out loud but you’re not naive. your little deals are only small time compared to his normal business but he didn’t need anyone looking into him for any reason. you weren’t about to get in the middle of that or find out what the consequences might be if you did. 
“i’m no cop,” he answers with a sneer. “just looking out for you, don’t want you to get ripped off.” 
a small ‘oh’ comes from under your breath and you avoid his eyes. were you being too paranoid? maybe but you’d rather be safe than sorry in situations like this. after all the effort you put in for this bakery; all the money, sweat and tears you poured into this shop and your treats, losing them wasn’t an option. 
truthfully you don’t believe he is a cop and feel the truth in his words when he says them, though you aren’t sure exactly what it is satoru does for a living but it’s better you not tell him of shiro. 
“i appreciate that,” you mean it honestly despite your defensiveness before. “i shouldn’t say more though..” satoru may be attractive, easy to talk to and affecting your heart more than you want him to but indulging his curiosity to the full extent was not something you could do this time around.
the phone in his pocket begins to ring before he can reply. relief, you’re thankful to end this conversation quickly before he can press more.
he motions with his finger to give him a moment and turns the other way to stand closer to the door of the bakery. you focus your attention on the dough in front of you but it’s hard not to listen in when the shop is so quite. 
“what is it? … this early? ... k, be there soon. … no, i’ll call him and we’ll meet you there.”
he doesn’t sound pleased when he hangs up and immediately goes to make another phone call but you don’t stay around to listen to what he’s saying. instead you slip into the back to get the pastries from the oven and put a couple in a to-go box for satoru.
he’s just getting off the phone when you return and searches his suit pockets for his car keys. “sorry sugar, duty calls.”
“as if i’d let you hang out here all day anyways,” you tease, coming around the counter to stand in front of him and hand him the togo box, stopping him when he reaches into the wallet. “it’s on the house today.” 
his smile could melt your heart and it almost distracts you from the unreasonable amount of yen he drops into the tip jar; way more than what the treats you’ve packed for him cost.
“you don’t ha-”
“i’ll see ya later,” he gives you a wink before slipping his glasses back on and taking the bag from your with a brush of his fingers against yours, making his way out the door. “don’t get into too much trouble without me,” he calls behind him but doesn't look back.
you are trouble, you think, watching him leave and hating the disappointment you feel when his tall figure disappears into the distance as the bell chimes when it closes. you know you shouldn’t be falling for customers and especially ones such as satoru gojo at that- an undeniable flirt. you had your fair share of experiences with men like that in the past and normally stay far away from them but something about satoru has you unable to hold back and, even if it’s to your dismay, he knows just how to pull you in more.
honestly, he seemed rather shallow at first. nothing more than good looks, sweet words and money but the more time he spends around you the more mysterious and deeper he becomes, even still. you can tell he’s really dedicated to his work and works hard. he’s never said exactly what he did besides being a ‘businessman’ but plenty of times it called him away and each time he went without question, not without his dilly dallying. more than that, just today his comment about how he wanted to look out for you didn’t seem like the man you had first thought he was. he didn’t seem like the type to care about other people's business and if they’re being taken advantage of but you could tell he was honest when he said that, none of his normally teasing and playfulness behind his words.
“i don’t understand why you two haven’t gone out yet,” miwa breaks you from your thoughts, coming from the back with two large trays of jelly filled donuts, melon pan and other goodies to fill the display case with.
you sigh, overthinking about what could be if this were more than a little crush between a baker and her handsome customer with an insatiable sweet tooth.
would you say no if he asked? probably not. you doubt anyone says no to gojo. is it a good idea to go out with him though? you honestly couldn’t say. 
it’s not that you were looking for commitment, being a small business owner took up most of your life and you were fine with that; living the dream you had since you were a child, fulfilling what you shared with your once complete family, meant more to you than falling in love. baking was the only love you needed; it didn’t leave and came in all sorts of different comforts. 
you could always make something delicious that made people smile, that was a reminder of a bitter sweet past or a brighter future. like the first taste of a comforting treat after a long day or the familiar scent of a pastry shared by two lovers long ago. seeing those moments and more unfold because of what you baked was enough for you, it brought you happiness in its own way after so much of your own loss.
you aren’t even sure if you could handle a relationship, if it was in the cards for you, but maybe going out and sleeping with him, getting it out of your system would be the way to go. just maybe it would quiet or stop the bubbling feelings instead of you. or maybe it would make it worse.
but you’d be lying if you said you haven’t thought about what lies underneath those designer suits and you know satoru thinks he plays it cool when you wear small summer dresses or plunging necklines and tight pants but you’ve caught those cerulean eyes lingering on your figure more than once.
the other side of this dating coin was going out with him and ending up falling for him; getting yourself caught in something you didn’t particularly want to be a part of. it’s not that you couldn’t put in the hard work that relationships require, though it may be hard to find the time but for the right person you would give it your all. but was it worth the potential loss? could you even handle any more loss? 
satoru didn’t seem like the type to settle down and you weren’t interested in playing games with a man who liked to play them exclusively. putting your heart out there for more than just baking was easier said than done but there was always the possibility your heart didn’t need to get involved, despite how unlike you that was.
a part of you wonders if your heart is already wading deeper than the ankle deep waters of those unbelieve blue eyes.
none of it even matters though because he hadn’t asked you out and it would be inappropriate for you to ask him out as the owner of an establishment he visits frequently...  or maybe it’s the thought that the rejection would hurt just too bad and then you’d likely never see him in your little bakery again, which seems much worse than the rejection, that stops you. your little flirtatious moments when he dropped by were enough, it didn’t need to be more. for your sake and his.
but a girl can still dream.

“i can’t believe we’re doing this shit right now. doesn’t he know it’s only eight in the fucking morning?”
“what the hells gotten into you this morning?” geto questions, tossing the black duffle bag into the back of the cadillac with a loud clunk and a slam of the door. there were no off hours with a job like this, both of the men knew that and accepted it, not that it stopped either of them from bitching every now and again but satoru was unusually irritated today. “you know the boss likes these things dealt with quickly.”
both men slide into the car, gojo behind the wheel and geto stuck with all the items left in the front seat by his companion. he tosses what he can in the back or sticks it in the center counsel but satoru can feel sugurus eyes on him the entire time.
he doesn’t look back at his partner as he turns on the car and puts it in drive. “there’s nothing quick about this.” 
he knew suguru couldn’t argue about that. there was absolutely nothing quick about chasing someone that was already a full 12 hours ahead of you, even if you have good intel on where this problem may be. countless things could go wrong and there would be hell to pay if they couldn’t finish the job and bring back what was taken. not that he or geto are worried about that. they were chosen for this job because only they could see it through better than anyone else.
it makes gojo a little less sour knowing they asked him and geto to fix this little problem together since no one else was capable of handling it but he hadn’t had nearly his fill of asking about whoever it was his pretty little baker did illegal business with.
before he can think about his subconscious calling you ‘his’, satoru catches his companion opening up his white togo box full of an assortment of goodies and immediately puts the car back into park after not moving an inch. he wasn’t going to get a chance to stop for more treats while on this mission so he’d have to make them last and he wasn’t planning on sharing anyways.
“these are mine,” satoru reaches over and shuts the lid over sugurus fingers, moving the box to his lap aggressively.
“what? are you five years old all of the sudden?”
“shut up. she made these for me and i’m not sharing,” he reaches into the box not caring what he grabs out because no matter what it was it was bound to satisfy his craving. 
bite sized mango turn over, and damn were these illegal mangoes good. 
he can’t help but smile at the memory of you all sweet and guilty. worried over illegal mangoes. your innocence is so cute. he didn't know what kind of trouble to expect you to get into but that was not it.
gojo knows suguru recognizes the mochi and sakura leaf logo of your bakery, various boxes and containers were always in his apartment or car and gojos raved about your cakes and mochi like it was made of gold. he made geto try it so could he understand the craze from his best friend who has no impulse control and a sweet tooth from hell but satoru also knows he’s dropped plenty of hints he thinks you’re attractive as well so it’s no wonder he keeps going back. 
“she makes them for everyone, dumbass. that’s her job.”
“i’m still not sharing.”

“a paloma and extra shot of tequila, please,” you order before your butt even hits the cushion of the bar stool.
slumping into the seat you close your eyes and let out a long exhale. it’s been a long and exhausting few days with miwa on vacation with her boyfriend, kokichi, and you running the bakery by yourself. she works so hard, puts in so much effort for your little shop so how could you say no when she asked for a few days off for a get away with her beloved? she was sweet enough to plan her vacation on weekdays instead of the weekend too so that you didn’t have to suffer the weekend rush by yourself. 
you don’t remember the days before miwa being this busy and exhausting but business had grown a lot since then. it might be time to look for additional help but that would have to wait for another day when you could go through the shop's finances and see if you could even afford it on top of paying miwa what she deserves.
tonight, all you want is something stiff to help let all that stress slip away before you head home and get ready for another solo day. 
the bartender puts your peach colored drink and shot glass in front of you without a word and walks to the other side of the island to attend to a couple who arrived right before you. you don’t come to the bar often, never really finding the time and not really having anyone to go with but when you do decide to come out by yourself, you always come to the light ox bar. it’s quiet and modern, playing all your favorite songs over the speakers and the bartenders are generous with their drinks, lowkey enough to wind down after a long day and it’s right in between your apartment and the bakery.  
you quickly take the shot, the clear liquid burning your throat, though not unpleasantly, on the way down. oh yes, this was exactly what you needed before getting back to grind tomorrow.
“haven’t seen you here in a while,” a familiar deep voice comes from behind you after a few minutes of nursing your drink in silence, stewing over issues that you wish you could have left at work.
toji fushiguro, a man you met at this bar two years ago and have only ever seen at this bar. very handsome and equally mysterious. you know only 2 things about the man; his name and that he loves to drink whiskey. 
at least those are the only things he’s confirmed about himself, you’ve speculated other things plenty. you don’t know his age; he’s older than you for sure but not quite old enough to be the age your father would have been and not quite young enough to be your brother. the scar on his face and his muscular build had you guessing he’s ex military or police but his personality doesn’t quite fit either occupation. 
he’s not married or if he is he doesn’t wear a ring or say anything about his spouse. he ‘s hardly told you a thing. you don’t mind not knowing much about him though. he may say otherwise but you know he’s a decent guy. he’s been good company on some hard and good nights; scaring away a few unwanted suitors and listening to you rant or talk about whatever's on your mind but never judging you for it.
he’s been one of the only people you’ve opened up to about your past, your parents demise, why baking even matters so much to you.
“yeah.. the shop’s been keeping me pretty busy,” you admit, sitting up straight in your seat but not turning to face him. you stare into your drink, stirring the ice with the small black straw, watching the droplets of condensation soak into the coaster as he takes a seat next to you.
out of the corner of your eye you see him sip on the golden liquid in his glass and smile. “means business is good then, yeah?”
“it’s good,” you reply, though your tone doesn’t sound like you’re happy about it and toji quickly catches on. 
he lets out a quiet huf, moving in his chair to rest his elbows on the glass counter top of the bar and looks over at you with dark emerald eyes. “you don’t sound too happy about that.”
i am happy about it.. right? you ask yourself while taking another sip of your drink. yes, successful business was what every business owner hoped for, what your parents hoped for. you had to be happy about that. what you weren’t happy about was the exhaustion, the long nights, the loneliness despite being around customers all day, the fact all you think and worry about is your business. baking was the way to get out of reality but it’s hard to feel like that on days like today when you didn’t have enough hands, money or time.
you force a half hearted laugh. “i am.. it’s tiring living and breathing business.. if i was able to just bake i’d love that but it’s everything else i don’t like. i don’t like having to worry about hiring people or about making rent on the shop or how to advertise or bring new customers in.. all that stuff, it’s not me.. not what i’m passionate about but there’s no one else to do it for me.” 
you only ever do it because you have to in order to keep your bakery dream alive and normally you wouldn’t complain. responsibilities weren’t always things you were passionate about or loved to do, it was what you had to do no matter how you felt but it gets hard to put on a brave face when all you do is worry and stress about responsibilities, when it feels like it’s you against the world. you didn’t have anyone to lean on, no one to reach out to for help that didn’t require you to pay first.
you were.. alone.
as much as you don’t want to admit it to yourself, satoru provided you a small relief from all of this. he may not be able to help with the books and workload overwhelming you but he made you smile, made you laugh and loves your treats more than anyone else. it was a breath of fresh air in your busy work life to have him stop by, like a rest stop on a steep upwards hike where you can catch your breath and enjoy the view instead of worrying about getting to the top. he hadn’t been by the past few days though, not since saturday morning and, a little begrudgingly, you find yourself wishing to see him walk through the door and tease you to his heart's content. perhaps that’s got you in a bad mood too.
“too much responsibility for such a little girl?” 
finally you turn to look at him with narrow eyes that shoot daggers into his side but it’s hard to stay too mad when you’re met with a smug ass look on his face. you playfully shove him in the arm and continue trying your hardest to glare at him but he’s got one of those smiles that rubs off on others and your toughness is broken though almost instantly.
“i’m an adult, alright?” a fact he already knows about you. “not some little girl who's too far in over my head.” though you're starting to doubt that slightly tonight. your business may be successful for now but maybe it was more than you could handle, more than you wanted to handle. were you ever meant to do this alone?
“anyone would feel like it’s too much if all they thought about was work,” he acknowledges and downs the rest of his drink. “sounds like you could use a break.”
“a break.. hell i’d even take a distraction just so i don’t have to think about it for a little while.” 
you follow suit and drink the rest of your paloma in a few gulps, finally feeling the warmth from your first shot helping your body relax. a break, a distraction.. neither of those options seemed possible at a time like this. if you take time off you have to close the shop and then you don’t make money and then you can’t pay rent on the shop or your apartment or buy items you need or pay miwa. you want to cry just thinking about it. so many things relied on you working and trying to figure this all out. a few drinks before bed was the most of a distinction you could afford.
toji calls for the bartender and doesn’t say anything before he’s pouring tojis brand of choice whiskey and two shots of tequila. you sit in silence, feeling the alcohol warm your insides, and watch the bartender pour your drinks. you’ve always known toji came here a lot, every random time you’ve shown up he’s usually here but you’re still not used to how he doesn’t even have to order because they know him so well.
he slides you one of the shots and takes the other for himself, clinking them together before you drink them and put the glasses down in tandem. your worried, tired eyes don’t go unnoticed by him when you reach up to play with the ice from your paloma with a straw once more.
he leans back in his chair, crossing one leg over the other, his ankle on his opposite thigh, and washes away the taste of tequila with his whiskey. you can tell by the look on his face he’s not a fan of tequila and whiskey was not a great chaser but one shot wasn’t going to kill him. 
“i could distract you,” he says too casually but implying too much for your liking.
your cheeks burn and you find yourself speechless under the gaze of his narrow green eyes through dark lashes.
“what? scared of me all the sudden?” he raises an eyebrow and the corner of his lips turn up ever so slightly at the embarrassment on your face. like he was enjoying this embarrassed side of you.
“no!” you say probably too defensively and definitely too loudly but somehow you get your voice to quiet and slow. “it’s not that..”
you aren’t even sure what it is, what’s got you tongue tied and excited at the same time. you know toji to be cool and straight forward, he radiates the confidence of a man who gets what he wants, does what he wants and doesn’t let anyone stand in his way. so it shouldn’t surprise you that he’d say something as bold as this, as casually as he did. maybe it's the fact you can’t believe you’re actually considering taking him up on his offer.
“then what is it?” he doesn’t wait for you to answer before he uncrosses his legs and leans in closer to you, one hand on the back of your chair, the other still holding onto his glass. he’s giving you space to get away, tell him no but you don’t. he smells of cedar and whiskey; and right now you find it more intoxicating than the liquor in your system. “worried i wont be nice? you should know by now, i’m not a nice guy.”

you don’t even make it past the entryway of your apartment before toji's lips, hungry and primal latch onto yours, traveling down your jaw and to your neck, his black hair tickling below your ear. the weight of his chest pins you against the door, his strong hands grabbing onto your ass and lifting your feet off the ground in the process. you take the opportunity to encase him between your thighs, feeling his hardening cock against your clothed core.
it’s impossible not to grind against his length but toji is having none of it, using his forceful grip to still your eager hips. 
the cold air on your neck when he pulls away from your supple, reddening skin has goosebumps littering your body. his eyes are dark and focused on your every moment, down to the heaving of your chest and the hot air escaping your lips; a predator locked onto its prey. 
“eagerness will get you nowhere with me kitten, you’d better behave.”
you nod in agreement, unable to get the words out of your mouth as you fight for breath. you’d listen perfectly if it meant he’d distract you.
his lips find yours once more and your hands make their way into his hair, tangling in the soft black locks more and more with each deepening of your kiss. with ease he supports your weight and carries you from the front entryway to your bedroom, following your breathless instructions between devouring kisses.
your body meets the mattress with force, your hair scattering behind you, your legs remaining open for him. you stare up at tojis face in the moonlight coming from your window. he doesn’t look like the man you thought him to be under the dark, silvery night; his figure towering over your much smaller body and his intense gaze sends a shiver down your spine and wet warmth between your legs.
his defined core and arm muscles ripple and flex as he lifts his shirt off of himself, relieving the unexpected mural that is spread across his entire chest and arms; tattoos of black clouds and flowers and in the center of it all, a large red snake baring its bloody fangs.
your eyes widen, your mind thinking of all the times in media you had seen art like this on others and you can feel your palms getting sweaty. what had you gotten yourself into? swallowing the saliva caught in your throat, you ask, “a-are you in the yakuza.. or something like that?”
“something like that,” he admits, looking down at his tattooed body and then back to you. “have you changed your mind? i warned you i wasn’t a good guy.”
despite talking and drinking at the same bar with him for a few years, you may not know much about him personally but you never thought or got the impression he’s put you or would put you in danger. it’s not like you were planning to date toji anyways, dating a mafia member was out of the question but fucking one didn’t seem like the worst idea you’ve had. who even knew if you’d even see him again after this and truthfully you aren’t sure it’s worth overthinking. 
no, you hadn’t changed your mind.

“you wanna stay for dinner?” yuki asks gojo as they both find their discarded clothes on the ground and redress.
annoyance immediately fills satoru. she always asks and the answer is always no. why must she persist each time he comes over? he had meant to stop this little fling they had going on a while ago but each time after a hard time at work he found himself at her doorstep and in her bed; he just needed something to take the edge off, something to remind him he’s more than a man who’s only use is to eradicate problems and people for this family. more than a tool.
yuki had been apart of the family for years since her father is a higher up in the organization. she knows about his and satorus way of life and was happy to provide satoru some kind of release; after all she benefited just as much while in between boyfriends and lounging around until she was needed by her father.
and even when they did fuck, satoru wasn’t in a relationship with her and he never would be so why play pretend and sit together for a meal like a normal couple?
he looks behind him at her, watching her tie up her long hair into a ponytail from the other side of her queen sized bed. she raises an eyebrow at him when he doesn’t answer. 
truthfully he is starving but whatever yuki could cook, or order because she doubt she does her own cooking, was not what he was craving. he needed something much sweeter after the day he had. 
“not really,” he grumbles and returns back to buttoning up his shirt. 
“well i guess i better tell you now then,” she smooths out her baggy sweater and looks at him with an expression that makes him wonder if she’s happy or upset.
god, if we were together you’d think she was getting ready to dump me, satoru thinks to himself, trying to anticipate what news she might be breaking to him.
“my father is discussing an arranged marriage to help strengthen the ties with the kusakabe clan so.. we should probably stop whatever this is,” she motions between them with her hand. 
perfect timing. it’s much easier on him for her to put a stop to it anyways. it doesn’t come as a surprise that she’d be married off either. the relationship between the kusakabe clan and the gojo clan are in the beginning stages of a conflict that could stop their business together entirely. they’re getting more and more fed up with the treatment from the gojos but satoru knows it would be quite a loss if they were to cut ties entirely.
“fine by me.”
she walks him to the front door, giving him a smile when she looks between his legs and then back up to his face, as if to say goodbye to his dick because he highly doubts she’ll miss him all that much and he can say the feeling is mutual.
“know of any good bakeries nearby?” he asks with cold indifference.
she gives him a deadpan look. 
“are sweets really the only thing on your mind right now? right after denying having dinner with me too?”
sure, things were supposed to be casual with him and gojo could admit she never tried to make it anything more than that, offering dinner was supposed to be casual he’s sure. satoru isn’t the kind of guy who you wanted to date anyways, she had to have known that upon first meeting him and since then he has no doubt her opinion on that has only grown stronger since they started this thing. 
she punches him in the arm, “you ass. i thought you were going to give me some sweet goodbye.” 
there’s only silence as gojo awaits the answer to his question. it’s not like he was never going to see her again, he’d probably be at her wedding along with the rest of the family.  
she sneers in response to his silence, crossing her arms and rolling her eyes. “there's one on the corner up the road. take a right when you get out of here and go up a bit, it’s by the park.”
unexpectedly to even him, he pulls her into him, blonde hair brushing against his ear with her tall height. a friendly hug and one that's reciprocated, though it may even be the first one they’ve ever shared.
“thanks for all you’ve done for me,” he says quietly, giving her a squeeze. “take care yuki.”
normally satorus body feels a little lighter after leaving yukis place but that isn’t the case tonight. even when he found himself balls deep he couldn’t shake the thoughts that plagued his mind. very rarely did he question his choices but tonight he wonders if he’s doing the right thing sticking with the family, following orders - albeit on his own terms - and doing everyone else's dirty work. did he even deserve a better life after all he’s done? at what point are you in too far and there’s no turning back, no second chance at happiness? since when did he even care? and most of all, had he doomed the others he brought into it thinking he was protecting them?
he doesn’t even know what happiness looks like at this point. he thought it was the money, power and rising through the ranks until he could have it all but the deeper he gets the more he dislikes it and is convinced this isn’t happiness and that no one, not even the boss, ‘has it all’. 
it hadn’t always felt this bad and he’s sure tomorrow he might feel differently but for tonight, it keeps his shoulder slumped, hands bunched in his pockets and snowy hair covering his eyes as he walks down the street kicking rocks as he goes. 
just like yuki said, on the corner of a strip of shops across from the park is a small bakery; pink sakura leaves and a small mochi emblem on the door leading inside. when another customer exits, the smell of vanilla and sugar fills the air around satoru and his stomach grumbles. he just might die if he doesn’t eat something sweet soon.
“welcome!” the blue haired girl behind the counter greets him before turning to help an elderly lady standing at the cash register.
it’s a cute little shop; small but manageable and easy to get in and out of. there are two tables and some chairs sitting by the big window with the shades pulled up, bringing in the lights in the street and from surrounding shops. a big display case is at the end of the counter white counter, some smaller display cases on both sides of the cash register, only a few more things of bread left in each.
gojo heads straight to the main display, not nearly as empty as the others but still telling of the good day you must have had. his eyes sparkle and his mouth waters at the tasty looking treats still inside. the purin looks beyond perfect; caramel glaze dripping off the top of the custard and onto the little plate like it was about to be a part of a magazine. assorted cookies, strawberry shortcake, dango and a little sign saying ask at the counter for mochi, with the flavors of the day listed. 
“what can i get you?”
the friendly voice tears satorus attention from the baked goods and he’s met with the face of a woman that looks just as sweet as any of one of these treats. your sparkling eyes are illuminated by the lights of the display case, they are the most beautiful eyes he’s ever seen and your beaming smile is a sight for sore eyes; honest and kind. it helps him throw all his worries out the window, all that’s on his mind now is the pretty girl and sugary sweets in front of him.
everything looks so delicious, including you, how could he possibly pick?
“one of everything, please,” he says. he doesn’t have to say much to lay on the charm, he lets his eyes do most of that and it seems to be working.
your pink cheeks and surprised eyes only makes you look that much more adorable. oh, was satoru glad he made his way here tonight.
“e-everything?”
“everything,” he smirks. ✧˚ · .
satorus mouth waters just thinking about all the treats he ate that night while he makes his way to the bakery. he may buy one of everything again today since gas station candies were not cutting it for him these past couple of days while he was gone for work. nothing was the same as your pastries, no gas station clerk was as pretty as you or made him smile the way you did.
he couldn’t get to the bakery fast enough.
he also couldn’t be more disappointed about the line out the door once he arrives. this busy on a thursday in the early afternoon? he’s come by at this time before and it’s never been like this but he supposes he has no choice but to wait. as the line moves forward and he’s able to peek through the window he notices the shop is missing its blue haired cashier. you come from the back with a tray full of freshly baked cookies and an aura satoru swears he’s never seen from you before.
coming in as often as he did, probably overstaying more than he should but he couldn’t help and you never complained, meant that satoru got to see some sides of you most customers didn’t. he’s seen you frustrated and overworked, he’s also seen you in relief, amusement and content happiness. but even through all his flirting with you he’s never once seen the pleased smile that’s on your face today or the glow behind it; not even a little stressed with how busy it is and the fact you’re running things by yourself. 
he’s seen this glow, this smile before - he himself has provided it to others - but he’s never seen it on you and it lights an unfamiliar, uncomfortable, feeling in his chest that he can’t swallow down. 
it’s not necessarily that he was hoping you’d be sad in his absence. okay maybe he was, knowing you were missing him would boost his ego quite a bit. but he never thought he’d come back to see you basically illuminating the bakery in your after sex glow or that he would be annoyed about it.
you’re a grown ass woman. so what if you were having sex? why should that matter to him? you aren’t his girlfriend or even anyone he’s dating at all. it shouldn’t matter that he’s wondered before what you would look like underneath him or how pretty your face would be after he makes a mess of you. he made himself hold back because he wanted to keep coming back here and he knew if he fucked you and never asked you out again that would have to stop. 
you haven't had sex yet because he made it so but that didn’t mean he wanted to see you like this because of somebody else. plus, he knows he could make you feel a million times better than whoever this guy was.
the line dies down as he walks in and he wonders if you spot him near the door behind others. either way, you are unable to give him your attention with the last dozen or so customers that remain in the shop waiting to be taken care of, himself being the last one. he approaches the counter just as the couple sitting at one of the tables near the window walks out, the door bell jingling behind them.
“hey satoru!” you greet with a smile that was somehow brighter than the one you had worn when he first saw you today. “it’s been a few days, i was starting to worry about you.”
so you were thinking of him in his absence? good.
normally he’d take off his glasses, showcase his ocean eyes but today he keeps them on, thankful the dark lenses would hide his deep stare that he’s trying to keep from you entirely. 
like you were unsure if he heard your welcome, you try again and he catches the unsteadiness in your voice. “i’ve got some new cake i’ve been trying to perfect, it's german chocolate. want a piece?” 
“you must have been getting lonely trying new recipes by yourself.” he can hear the hostility behind his words.
“i don’t really mind baking by myself,” you say and he watches you bite your bottom lip and look down before trying to meet his gaze again with more confidence, a flirty lace to your tone. “but having a taste tester is always better.” 
a very unwelcomed image of someone else tasting you pops into his head. 
“i’m sure,” he replies through a clenched jaw.
hurt is painted all over your face and he feels his chest tighten knowing he was the one that made it so but your expression, dropping down to his tie instead of his face, is quickly morphing into something more akin to shame and then confusion.
if he’s being honest, he’s feeling just as confused as you look. 
satoru didn’t get jealous, he’d swear up and down he’s not even now and yet, the thought of you with someone else has his blood boiling. the thought that while he was gone another had your attention made him beyond irritated, left his heart beating out of sync. 
what were you doing to him? 
it’s not too late, he decides in the awkward silence permeating between you. after all he was satoru gojo; handsome, charming, funny and he already had you on his hook. he may have to stop coming by after making you scream his name in bed, he’s not one for second dates or these particular attachments, but it was worth it to satisfy this annoying sting in his chest and finally give into his desire. 
he calls your name, bringing you from your own thoughts and when he finally looks at you without his glasses on, the way your eyes light up, a complete 360 from your previous expression when you were deep in thought, brings him to smile and leaves a comforting warmth pooling in his chest. 
you were too cute and he couldn’t wait to eat you up, show you there’s no one better than him.
“may i take you out on a date this weekend?”

I don’t know if I’m the only one who thinks this, but I LOVE when Sonic designs have different heights. Not to say all of them have the same hight. But most of the non adult or little kid sized characters like Sonic, Espio, (Sometimes Knuckles and Rouge) Silver, Amy, and Blaze are seen to have the same hight when shown together. It’s not a bad thing and their designs are already wonderful and unique enough. It’s just something I’ve noticed. In most of the games anyway. Though there are some exceptions in other medias and one recent game.

For example, almost all Sonic Boom characters have different heights.

Watching Sonic Prime (looking more like the modern game designs) also helped me realize how much I appreciate when these characters aren’t always the same hight.

Do you notice how short Prime!Sonic is compared to a few characters? (Besides most of the Chaos Council and Big) Or how other characters like Rusty Rose and Dread are much taller than their own variants? It’s kind of cool.

Sonic Dream Team is another great example. Look at the variety of hight differences on this character chart. Barely anyone’s the exact same hight here and it adds to the characters to me personally. Their separate qualities and shape language stands out more because of this.

The unique heights and sizes only compliments character designs. It’s the little details that can make for a BIG change in how you view these characters when put together.
