Same here! And just in case any of today's lucky 10k aren't familiar with the gazebo story either:

(Apparently that one dates back to 1986!)
There are three ways, broadly, that any game can fail.
A failure of execution. Someone tried to do something and they fucked it. bad dice roll, or also just tried to do something dumb that wouldn't work anyway.
A failure of function. The game system itself collapses, it fails to execute, a section of text is missing, the rules have no way to handle this kind of math or this kind of choice.
A failure of motivation. The game has not given people the proper incentive or information to engage with it the way it wants to be engaged with. Think like the farmer player characters in a D&D game, or the famous powerpoint and fork puzzle.
#I also didn't know that electrical outlets were sometimes called powerpoints#it makes sense#but yeah I've only heard of the slideshow program PowerPoint#I was expecting a very different kind of puzzle#and here's the story of the Dread Gazebo#for your reading pleasure#my guess is the guy was thinking the DM meant gazelle#or some other animal#or else he just didn't want to look stupid by asking for a definition#so he ended up looking stupid in a different way#D&D#games#the gazebo
