people who are loud and proud about how they always speed and will never stop should be stripped of their drivers’ licenses and i am not exaggerating or joking in the slightest. driving is a privilege not a right and if you can’t prioritize the lives of everyone around you as you hurtle down the road in your 2 tonne metal death machine you need to get your ass off that road.

the parents of the two kids a friend of a friend once killed in an accident because she was speeding 80 in a 50 sure would’ve thanked her for taking a few extra minutes to get to her destination, i’m sure.

Midwestern girl moment . Was going back from college (usually a 4 hr drive) and uhhh. the weather is so bad there were insane crosswinds and snow everywhere and black ice and 1 million semis turned over and jackknifed. got about two hours along and it was dark and it would have taken abt 6 hours total so we got a hotel

Harm Reduction, Eating Disorders, and Driving

Driving is one of the scariest things people know how to do, you have control over a big metal machine that goes faster than any human could and your job is to be SAFE in it. Now, there are a lot of tips for harm reduction when it comes to eating disorders in general, those are all great and you should do them, just not the focus of this post.

My main goal with this post is to say PLEASE never drive when you haven't eaten for a while. Not eating slows down reaction time, makes it harder to concentrate can make you tired or dizzy, can make you more irritable, shaky, and generally leads to all sorts of things (like dehydration and vision going black) that make it MUCH more dangerous to be on the road. As a rule, try to have at least something in you before you drink. This could mean drinking something with some energy in it (not just caffeine!!!!! Something that gives your body fuel and gets blood sugar up) or eating something small that is a carb to get your blood sugar up, just try to have something and please don't drive if you notice things like confusion or any sort of impairment that could put others (and yourself) at risk.

Some other things:

Purging: Driving right after purging/attempted purging is dangerous idk the medicals of it just don't do it, have some water/something with electrolytes, sit and wait a bit so your head can settle and you feel better.

okay hey, so, update. i'm still going to be spotty on this blog and i'm unsure when i'll be going back to doma. since my mother has gotten into a car accident, i've been under a world of stress and it's been incredibly difficult to cope, let alone keep myself out of the mental ward. i haven't been able to have access to therapy, it's just been me trying to live day-by-day, if not hour-by-hour, minute-by-minute. i can't promise i'll be super active, but i do want to get back to akaza at the least, to test the waters for perhaps later returning to doma. we'll see.

I did read this book once in 6th grade that did something interesting where it was 1st person when focusing on the main girl of the story and switched to 3rd person when talking about someone close to her getting brutally murdered (it was a horror novel) also when I say brutally I mean brutally. it vividly described the girl's boyfriend getting hit by a truck and how it dragged his body. someone got ran over by a zamboni. the way this scene was described when they went into her dad's office and saw he has supposedly killed himself has never left me. why did we have that in our library

alexa's family life depresses me a little in general because she was placed for adoption when she was a baby and then became a part of this lovely little family with two moms and an older sister but then they all get into a car accident when she's twelve and one of her moms dies while the other gets so injured that she'll suffer from chronic pain for the rest of her life and then her big sister has to take over the mother role and alexa comes to have an incredibly complicated relationship with her surviving mom because of it and i don't know her family is just a bit of a mess most days

a/n: so i just really think that the concept of tony having the party kid as opposed to nerdy avenger kid would be a really cool idea to explore teehee. most of this does actually take place pre-avengers tho!!

prompt:

you we’re quite the exhausting kid

“is this really how it felt to raise me?” -tony

many of nights he’d find your bed empty, you’d snuck out to go have your fun as teenagers do

“yeah, boss, i imagine it was” -happy

you always showed back up in one piece (like him) and besides a little slap on the wrist you didn’t get much discipline

actually, it usually went like:

“so, where did you go off to last night?” -tony

“a party” -you

“really? didn’t want to loop me in before you snuck out…again?”

“last time i told you about a party you showed up!”

“uh—yeah, but it’s not like i went all dad on you and dragged you away or anything”

“yeah, you joined the party and offered to buy teenagers more booze”

“hey, they all loved you after that! and they couldn’t get enough of my classic dance moves” -tony, jokingly doing the sprinkler with one arm “but seriously, let me know next time”

“we’ll see about that” -you

^the above conversion went about the same every time

sometimes for entertainment purposes you’d try a little harder, throw a few pillows under the covers to make it look like you were still home to put a smile on tony’s face

“aw, y/n reminds me so much of me” -tony

tony was still partying at this point so you’d flip the script on him from time to time

“you were out late” -you

“what are you, a cop? leave me alone. actually, can you get me some aspirin and water?” -tony

okay, he didn’t always know when you were gone. he was busy a lot of the time with his own business and extracurriculars so you guys did just kinda do your own thing for certain stretches of time

honestly you could be a bit of a klepto in the best of ways

but only to tony and only for fun

and up until tony’s accident, the phrase “you’re going to give me a heart attack” was silly and endearing

“you might actually give me a heart attack, y/n, give a guy some warning or just say please for god’s sake” -tony, now comes with an arc reactor in his chest

“sorry” -you

“what—huh—didn’t hear ya, wanna say that a little louder?” -tony, very sarcastically

i tell ya when he got that armor u couldn’t tell if u were gonna flip out at him or invite him to a party

or steal it for…you didn’t even know what

but tony was 3 steps ahead of you when all this came to be

and you weren’t very interested in weapons, still just parties and dumb fun for you

“come on! just help me in the lab a few hours, what’s it gonna hurt?” -tony

once tony got involved with SHIELD and the avengers he got even busier really

and in came the parenting advice from fury, clint, nat, steve

steve once tried to give you a good talking to, but you reminded him a great bit of your father with your stubbornness

tony was kind of proud of you for sticking to your guns

especially around such powerful people

but you had a knack for that and could do it to practically anyone

mostly because you felt like an invincible teenager since you were raised by tony, who also thought himself an invincible teenager at one point

u tried to tone down giving tony grief when he started having panic attacks

since u accidentally caused a few by pushing boundaries and staying out for several nights in a row

cuz as tony gained more enemies, he thought you’d be in more danger
