I don’t know why, maybe because I’ve been on a Garp kick lately.

But I do really think that Garp kind of became like a surrogate Uncle to the Roger boys and by extension Mihawk. Like I can just imagine Roger telling them that if they were ever separated from the crew or if something ever happened to him or Ray and they needed help they should go to Garp (I mean he entrusted his own baby to him it makes sense he’d also entrust his boys)

(for whatever reason Mihawk got this talk too despite him already traveling by himself and not being officially part of Rogers crew. But since Ray adopted him he’s Roger’s brat as well)

All this to say that Garp takes his uncle duties very seriously and what is an uncle if not an inconvenience and an embarrassment?

So Ofcourse he pulls up to Kuriagina during the timeskip (Hawain shirt and all) to visit his new grand babies (read Perona and Zoro) that he’s heard so much about. (read shanks immediately gossiped with him abou mt after stumbling upon them last time he came to visit Mihawk)

And because Garp is essentially the one piece equivalent of Florida man, this goes well for absolutely nobody

Except Zoro who is nothing if not a troll. And game must recognize game.

The monkeys love him tho, he communicates with them on a wavelength nobody can quite understand least of all Garp.

Half the reason for timing the protest alongside the military parade is to show the American people and the world that there are two different Americas right now, and one of them is not careening off a cliff into competitive authoritarianism.

I kinda want to get the gay men/mlm flag this pride. I know it’s controversial but I don’t feel like the rainbow flag (even just the six stripes) represents me enough because it also represents everyone else. I don’t feel like we are excluding nonbinary people any more than lesbians are and our flag shouldn’t either. Maybe the name is controversial but we haven’t got another name. Vincian was the name for a while but it too has expanded and left the flag behind. Other communities have claimed what’s theirs. We can’t say ‘no, “gay” is for us’ when they fought for us. Hopefully the flag at least can be for me? Can I have a flag?

I also kind of want an intersex flag. That one might be hung up in my closet. I also don’t know if I should even get one. My condition is unconfirmed and it cannot be confirmed but the technology to confirm it does exist and someday it will probably get to me and it will be forced upon me against my consent and I might learn that I am not intersex and all the trauma I faced (which I acknowledge is much less than most intersex people face) would have been for nothing.

Absolutely. Gus pointed out that there was a theory that he was so handsome that people couldn’t focus on what he said. After all, Gus can relate.

The Boiling Isles have people who write fanfics about foods falling in love. I don’t doubt that there were people writing NSFW fics of Belos, especially if they had a thing for masks.

And merchandise for the Emperor’s Coven and Belos was hunter at as early as Season 2 Episode 1, so I imagine there is a whole culture and build up to it now.

it's extremely critical that you see the photo of the perp walk for luigi mangione as being propaganda. i've seen so many people wave it off and instead fawn over his looks. and trust me, i know it ended up being kind of pathetic and weird - but please don't brush it off as a "modelling opportunity" for him. it's a fucking terrifying message the police are sending.

i want to make a few comparisons here, in case you're not from the US or familiar with why the perp walk thing is something to pay attention to. just to set the groundwork for why this is a purposeful, unusual, and cruel act by the nyc police - for why this is not a common occurrence and for why that matters.

the prosecution alleges the show of force is due to the charge of "terrorism." for comparison, in june 2015, tsarnaev was found guilty for the boston marathon bombing, which killed 3 people and injured hundreds. his actions are considered to be an act of domestic terrorism. i have spent the last hour looking through google for pictures of similar to mangione's perp walk - and so far, i have found zero. i also just do not personally remember a moment like that, despite living in boston at the time.

they allege that luigi is a stone-cold killer who carried out a longterm plan, making him particularly dangerous. again for comparison: in nyc, recently cory martin was found guilty of the killing of brandy odom. the murder was planned and premeditated to steal insurance money. and yet no staged perp walk. why didn't her life matter enough for a "show of force"?

but mangione gets paraded by a veritable army of police officers as if he is a rabid animal. for a single citizen who allegedly killed one other single citizen, the "largest perp walk ever" occurs.

so what is the "strong message" that the mayor and the police were trying to send here? the mayor speaks as if mangione is already convicted of terrorism. there is a very thin number of people who feel threatened by the CEO's death. none of us felt like mangione needs to be under massive armed guard.

the message is that you shouldn't resist. they are trying to "make an example" of him - that if you behave badly and kill a single rich person, you'll be treated as if you killed hundreds of people. you will be treated worse than a man who was found guilty of terrorism. you will be considered guilty without trial. the message is that the rich are a protected class, and you cannot touch them without massive punishment. they are trying to prevent a revolution by showing dominance and force against you.

the message is that the police are a puppet of the wealthy and that the law is not equally applied across class disparity. it is "some are more equal than others." it is "one life is more precious than another."

the show of force wasn't for luigi. it was for us. it was a warning. they are trying to remind us who is really in control.
