Got back to Baltimore this past Sunday after spending a week back home in Arkansas. Family came down from Milwaukee and up from Texas. All five of my mom’s sisters. Saw some of my great-aunts & great-uncles. And remembered to record my 97-year old great-grandma when talking about her family photos I scanned years ago and the family history. Her memory is still very sharp.

Also had a chance to meet & spend time with my 8 month old nephew and my cousin’s 18 month old. I’m the oldest of 5 so I already knew this, but babies and toddlers are fast. And a trip lol. Nephew can’t walk yet, but has quick hands. Loves singing/vocalizing already and had to be a dancer & head banger in his previous life lol. And the cousin is like the Flash lol. So head constantly on a swivel and having to predict their moves ahead of time. And toys are nice, but they loved the empty shoe boxes and other tactile/sensory things.

Glad it wasn’t hot and humid as it normally is during this month. And glad those damn mosquitoes and horseflies left me alone lol.

So it was a great time and much needed vacation.

PS: This was my nephew’s favorite move with any object he had when he wasn’t throwing it.

And these are a few of the hundreds of family pictures that my great-grandmother let me scan years ago. And it’s a good thing she did because some of them got lost recently. First pic is my maternal great-great-great-grandma, Susan Williams-Piggee. 2nd is her daughter/my great-great grandma, Marzella Pigee-Kelley. 3rd is her daughter/my great-grandma,Arwilda Whiteside-Kelley. 3rd is her husband, Cleovis Whiteside Senior in the Navy during WWII. 4th is my maternal grandmother, Carolyn Whiteside-Walker. 5th is me and my mom, Melva Walker-Hobbs.
