Hello hazel, I was just scrolling and came across Belta’s story and was wondering how she works mechanically? Is she like a kilston engine with steam and diesel? What does the steam do if the motor and engine turn the wheels?

So Betla is whats called a steam outline. She looks like a steam engine but is actually a diesel. A good irl example (besides Belta's poor counter part *sobs*) is Clara from the Rhyl Minurature Railway.

When built, a smaller diesel motor in the fake tender pushed Betla along, the 'locomotive' part just being a rolling 1/1 scale model.

Following her rebuild for actual service at Crovan's Gate, she instead has a larger motor hiddened within the shell of her boiler, driving her actual driving wheels. Her tender instead housing a fake steam genorator and her fuel, allowing her to puff steam, even if its just for looks. Mechanically she is a diesel, just one that *looks* like a steam engine;. The steam is almost purely comsetic. I say almost as steam is often part of engines emoting, a habit she has picked up from the steam engines on the North Western.

Viktor’s voice, low, exasperated.

 Damn it all, I left the mic open. The hell with it—I’ll delete that part later.

VIKTOR (to himself):

Orders first. Think, commander. Reception detail at Castle Samos.

Captain Visconti, prepare a gala dinner at the manor. What? You are the noble, you know this stuff better than me! Just pass the orders to the servants and see to it that they are executed properly, you can do that, I believe in you. Yes, this is unexpected. War is all about reacting to the unexpected. Get over it.

You want details? All right. Some ideas. Great hall. Silverware out, long table, cushions on the chairs. Damn, I forgot, there's no electricity. They never fixed things since last raid. Park a 'Mech, better, my 'Mech at the gate and wire it as power supply. No, candles, for the table. Music—no dirges this time. No, not Austrian folk music, accordion will not do. But let them set up the orchestra and play in the courtyard and dance and a biergarten, let them have fun too after everything is ready. For dinner, something romantic,  Rachmaninov and Chaikovsky, something that women like. No piano. I can't stand that. Feels like a tap dripping.

Background noise: Footsteps, toilet flushing, doors opening and closing, faint clinking of dishes from the dining room.

LOCATION: Hallway outside dining room, awaiting helicopter landing.

CONTEXT: Alina has gone to refresh herself. Viktor records his journal, speaking softly to himself. NARRATOR (Starkov)

That went worse than I feared, better than I hoped, and not at all what I expected. What a day! "Starkov, a tragic opera in three acts."

Act I: Morning seduction at the ComStar station. Act II: Evening marriage proposal at Rick’s. Act III: Night dinner at Castle Samos.

Finale … either she leaps to her death like Tosca—very theatrical, very Italian —or I sit down with my laser pistol and an e-book of Goethe, like Werther. Very German. Very stupid.

a little life update: my pc's monitor for some reason disconnects on itself the pc is find i can still hear all the thng i was playing it's just monitor that turn off here's the thing, it only happens if i play in my bedroom if i play downstair on the dinner table it has no problem so i'm very much confused right now cos the outlet voltage is normal at 220v LUL
