Synopsis: In 2090, you're sent back in time to study a village that vanished without explanation. There, you met him. You weren't supposed to fall in love with him. But you did, with a vampire. And when time ran out, you left â believing that story had ended. Until one night, back in the future, he finds you. He hasnât aged. And he never stopped waiting.
Wordcount: 11.8k

June 22, 2090.Â
The hum of the machines never stopped in sector 7.Â
Even at 3:27 in the evening, the corridors filled with guards, the bright white light pulsing against the huge glass doors. Surveillance cameras present every nook and crook of the room with security drones flying silently overhead, scanning every face, every badge, every retinal print. Â
There were no windows in this part of the KRONEX institute- no clocks, no noise from the outside world. Time, here, was studied, twisted, and sometimes... broken.Â
You adjusted the collar of your lab coat, feeling the slight static charge settling against your skin. Another night. Another sequence calibration. Â
You were the lead scientist for KRONEX's Temporal Division, and one of only five globally certified operators with direct clearance to manipulate raw time. Â
Not because you are lucky- but because you are good- really good at what you do. Â
"You are early." Said a familiar voice. Â
You turned around to see Taehyun, hands in his lab coat pockets, glasses slightly askew. He always arrived fashionably five minutes late, so this was new. Â
"So are you," you say smirking. Â
"Someone write it in the history." Â
He chuckled, stepping beside you as the biometric scanner opened the reinforced glass doors to Lab room Delta- 12.Â
Inside, your team was already gathered, Â
Mira, the chronophysics analyst, stood at her console with her usual lip balm which she applies ever minute, tapping at the interface like it owned her something. Â
Yuvi, head of atmospheric translation, stayed near the back, mumbling data projections to herself.Â
Jungwon, the youngest, but sharp as hell, greeted you with the usual, two fingered salute from behind the drone mapping panel. Â
"Took you long enough." Mira muttered without looking up.Â
"You're welcome for the coffee I brought you last time." You say as you head to the central table. Â
Everyone quickly followed you, sitting around the table.Â
You five are the specialized high qualification scientists who got chosen to be the people handling lab delta- 12. Coming from different backgrounds, having same interests and working in cases together for years made your guys' bond unbreakable. Â
You five are highly qualified specialists chosen to operate Lab Delta-12. Coming from different backgrounds but sharing the same passion, you've worked on countless cases together over the years â and thatâs made your bond unbreakable.Â
The door opened, interrupting your casual talks. Â
In walked, Dr. Han Myung-sikâ head of KRONAX, the man who'd once published a paper predicting time dilation six years before it was observed in real data. His face, though aged, was unreadableâ eyes sharp beneath the thick silver eyebrows. Â
No one spoke. You all stood up immediately. Â
"Sit," he said. "This will be quick." Â
The doors sealed shut behind him. A cold hum flickered through the room as he turned on the internal projector. Â
Five floating files appeared above the surface. Each labeled, RED CASE. Â
"Your groupâ delta 12 is chosen for this matter." Dr.Han said quietly. Â
You could feel the weight of his words which he's about to say.
"We've uncovered five unresolved incidents. Each linked to potentially an unnatural shift in recorded time." Â
"These aren't ripples," he continued. Â
"These are fractures. Events that don't line up with any known temporal logic. People disappeared, memories vanished, objects never aged and yetâ" Â
He tapped the interface. The room dimmed, and each of your profiles synced to a case file.Â
"You are the only ones qualified to investigate."Â
He started pacing slowly. Â
"Yuvi. You're being sent to March 2311, Seoul; right before the blackout that erased six months of global data records. You'll observe the internal tech culture and corporate rivalry." Â
Yuvi blinked, nodding quietly, already calculating her cover identity. Â
"Mira." Â
He turned to her. Â
"Your case is year 1652, Gyeongju province. A palace scribble who reportedly recorded a 'sky-born woman of light' before his records were seized. The ink used in his account was... not of this earth.âÂ
Mira grinned. "Finally, something fun." Â
"Jungwon. Taehyun. You'll split into Northern territories. Parallel years, overlapping reports. Two villages with identical names, but only one should exist." Â
Jungwon raised an eyebrow, "Are we crossing time lines? " Â
"Just brushing," Dr.Han replied. "Do not stay longer than you have to."
Then, he turned to you. Â
"And you." Â
The room stilled. Â
"Your case is the most weird one." Â
A red dot expanded above the table.Â
Satellite data. Korean countryside. Grainy and quiet.Â
"A village in 2019 â known to exist, documented, populated and functioning."Â "Then, it disappeared. Not physically or violently. Just... gone. All the databases rewrote themselves. The people who lived there vanished as if they were never even existedâ never even born." "Your job is to go there, undercover. Blend in. Find the root event. Identify the root autonomy and leave before it happens." Â
Your fingers clenched lightly under the table. You stared at the red dot on the map. Â
2019. Â
A quiet time. A dangerous one â because it was still close enough to modern history to be familiar. Easy to slip up. Easy to stay too long. Â
"Do we suspect temporal interference?" Â
You asked as you shifted your gaze from the red dot to his eyes. Dr.Han meets your eyes. "We suspect something far worse. Something that doesn't belong in any time." Â
The files flickered red again. "You'll begin calibration tonight. You jump within 750 hours. That is one month. Use your time wisely." Â
As he turned to leave, he paused just onceâ right by the door. Â
"And one more thing," he said without looking back. Â "Don't fall in love with the timeline. It doesn't love you back." Â
With that, he was gone. The table darkens. The lights return. Yuvi exhales. Mira cracks her knuckles and Jungwon leans forward. Â
"2019 huh?" Taehyun mutters beside you. "Better pack your sarcasm and Emo clothes." Â
You don't respond. You just stare at the red dot again.Â
The village. Gone from memory. Gone from maps. But waiting for you all the same. Â

One month.Â
And only one day to finish prepping, calibrating your minds, bodies, and identities before entering a timeline that wouldnât even recognize your names. You sat in the Sim Room, surrounded by floating holoscreens of early-2010s Korea. Architecture. Clothing. Language slang. Historical emotional markers. It was all too recent. Too real.Â
Mira was curled on a bench nearby, watching 1600s scrollwork with a look that said Iâd rather wing it. Taehyun was arguing with an AI over inconsistency in his destinationâs documentation. Again. Jungwon? Already finished his prep module and was now trying to teach Mira how to drink from a metal bottle while upside down.Â
âYouâre going to the past, not space,â she said, annoyed but smiling. âStill useful if I end up in a well,â Jungwon shrugged. You blinked away the holograms and stood, stretching out your arms.Â
âThis doesnât feel like prep,â Yuvi murmured, joining you. âIt feels like goodbye.âÂ
You didnât answer. Â
She studied you, thoughtful. âYou okay with your timeline?â â2019 is barely the past,â you said. âFeels like I could bump into my parents if Iâm not careful.â âYeah, but yours is the haunted village,â Mira called. âMine is just a floating woman in the sky.âÂ
âYouâre the floating woman,â Jungwon muttered under his breath. She chucked a protein chip at him while he hid behind you, holding your shoulders as if his body isn't larger than yours. Â
âAlright,â Taehyun said, glancing around. âFinal dinner tonight in the Commons? Before the serious lockdown begins?â âOnly if you donât bring another slide presentation to the table,â Mira groaned.Â
âI make no promises.â You smiled â small, but genuineÂ
And as the others drifted out of the room, chattering, playfully teasing, you lingered a moment longer â looking up at the blinking red timestamp over the Sim Door.Â
30:00:00:00Â DAYS : HOURS : MINUTES: SECONDSÂ JUMPÂ

You were the first one in the bay. The air smelled sterile, like metal and ionized mist. The chamber was massive â white, cold, humming. Five jump pods lined the back wall, each glowing faint blue with individual temporal calibration.Â
The boots of your suit clicked softly as you walked, every step echoing louder than your breath. The fabric hugged your body like skin, the material pressure-sealed and embedded with auto-adaptive climate tech. Your mind was a storm beneath the still surface â years of training colliding with something much quieter.Â
âCouldnât sleep?â came Taehyunâs voice from behind. You turned. He looked exhausted, but composed the kind of man who smiled with his mouth but not his eyes. âDidnât try,â you replied simply.Â
He nodded, stepping beside you, with his arm around your shoulder. You both looked at the pods in silence.Â
One for each of you. One jump. One direction. No promises of coming back the same.Â
Soon after, Yuvi arrived â hair tied, suit zipped, clutching a small, folded piece of paper in her hand. A name, probably. A reminder of something real. Mira strolled in with a grin too bright to be sincere. âGuess itâs finally happening,â she said, snapping her gum, though her hands trembled slightly as she adjusted her suit cuffs.Â
Jungwon came last, walking like he was on his way to a vacation. Humming. But you saw the tension in his knuckles as he flexed them once, twice. Dr. Han entered from the upper level, flanked by three silent technicians and a console assistant holding the jump sequence tablet.Â
âFinal clearances have been locked in,â he announced, voice loud across the bay. âYou have fifteen minutes.âÂ
One by one, your mission drives were inserted into the small ports at your pod stations. The information would sync once you landed in your time period â personalized cover stories, forged credentials, emergency kill phrases.Â
âIâll see you all again,â Jungwon said, softer now, eyes scanning the rest of you. âIn whatever version of time we land in.Â
âBring back something cool,â Mira added. âLike a comet or an alien.â âOr your soul intact,â Yuvi muttered, mostly to herself. You looked around.Â
These people â their lives had been laced into yours for years. Work. Sleep. Discover. Repeat. The way your names felt normal together. The easy sarcasm. The shared silence in moments like this. You didnât know what it would be like without them. Maybe you werenât meant to know. Your pod blinked green. Final sequence activated.Â
You stood in front of it, heart slamming once, sharply, against your ribs.Â
âYouâll be inserted at 03:12 AM, August 9th, 2019,â Dr. Han said beside you. âJust outside the villageâs boundary. Our records end there. No satellite returns after that date. No digital trails. Just fog.âÂ
You nodded.Â
âAnd remember,â he added, âobserve, record, donât interfere.â He paused. âAnd donât stay longer than you have to.â You stepped into the pod. The door hissed closed behind you. Inside: darkness. Soft blue lights blinked around your headrest. A countdown began in the corner.Â
00:00:10 00:00:09 00:00:08... Your breathing slowed. Fingers tight on the seat grips. 00:00:03 00:00:02... You thought of nothing. 00:00:01 ENGAGING TEMPORAL LAUNCH.Â
Everything went white.Â

You woke up choking on fog.Â
Your knees hit grass first, body staggering out of the collapsed time pod buried beneath undergrowth. The pod disintegrated on schedule â technology melted into mist the second your boots touched this era. You stood slowly, the chill biting through your fabricated 2010s-era jacket. A navy hoodie. Worn boots. Phone model synced to local time tech. Fake ID in your pocket. History-approved. And ahead of you â trees. Low mist curling over quiet fields. One winding road in the dark.Â
â03:14,â you whispered, checking the time. You started walking. It didnât take long to reach the village. Just a few winding turns along cracked pavement and flickering streetlamps â too dim for a place this small. It looked normal at first glance. Houses with tiled roofs. Wind chimes. A distant dog barking. But the silence? Too heavy. Too complete. Not a single radio. Not one human voice.Â
You followed the map projection in your eye lens. Your identity here: transfer student, staying with a distant relative for the summer before university. Your cover was clean. âBlend in. Observe. Donât interfere.â Dr. Hanâs words echoed.Â
You reached the village center. A bakery. A post office. A small clinic. It was beautiful â in a nostalgic, sleepy sort of way. You spotted an inn. Two stories. Wooden steps. A soft yellow porch light still glowing. You knocked once. A moment later, an older woman opened the door, eyes squinting at your unfamiliar face.Â
âAh⌠you must be the niece, right? From Seoul?â You smiled, polite. "Yes, maâam.â âRoomâs upstairs. Already made it up for you.â With that, you leave to your room.Â
August 10, 2019.
The village was quieter in the morning. Not dead. Just... slow.Â
You walked past the corner bakery â the one that smelled like burnt sugar and citrus. Past a row of mailboxes that hadnât been touched in a week. You werenât sure if people here hated bills or just trusted too easily. Notebook in your jacket. Identity chip syncing your steps to the research log in your neural band.Â
Day 2. Civilian behavior: consistent. Average activity start time: 6:53 AM No sign of temporal noise. No anomalies.Â
You smiled and bowed slightly to an old man sweeping the steps outside a shop. He gave you a nod in return. Eyes kind, but faintly puzzled â like he couldnât remember when you arrived, but accepted you anyway. That was the first pattern you noticed. People here forgot details fast. But nothing big enough to ring alarms. Just enough to feel like dĂŠjĂ vu.Â
You took a seat on the raised edge of a well in the town center, glancing down at the still water. Your eye-lens scanned your surroundings. Kids biking. A woman hanging sheets in perfect rows. Market stalls setting up.Â
Everything looked normal. Back at the inn, the old woman handed you a basket.Â
âBread for the east field home. The family that lives up near the woods. They get their supplies late.âÂ
âEast field?â you asked, trying to remember the map.Â
âTake the long path. The house is old, but someoneâs always there.âÂ
âSomeone?âÂ
She nodded. âA quiet boy. Rarely speaks. Keeps to himself. Been around longer than most here.âÂ
You didnât ask more. Just took the basket and walked. And as you stepped onto the eastern trail, into the trees and shifting lightâŚÂ You didnât know yet that you were walking toward the beginning. Of the end.Â

The path to the east house was longer than expected.Â
Thick trees bent overhead like old, quiet watchers. The air here was different â cooler, touched with something metallic. You adjusted the basket in your hands. You finally reached the gate â rusted iron, half open. A path lined with overgrown grass stretched up to a traditional hanok-style house. Wooden. Quiet. Heavy with stillness.Â
You stepped through, gently. No animals. No birds. Just that strange silence again. You knocked once. Then twice. No answer. You were about to leave when the door creaked open. And there he was.Â
He looked like he didnât belong in 2019. Or any year.Â
Dressed simply â white cotton shirt, black slacks, sleeves slightly rolled up. But there was something... too elegant about the way he held the door. Something slow and precise. Still. His eyes â dark, unfathomable â landed on yours.Â
For a full second, he didnât say a word. Neither did you. âDelivery,â you said softly, lifting the basket.Â
âRight,â he replied after a pause, voice smooth, almost melodic. âThey said youâd be coming.âÂ
You held the basket out, but he didnât take it immediately. Instead, he studied you. Not rudely. Not even intently. Just... curiously. Like a puzzle he couldnât quite read. Or a scent he wasnât supposed to follow. The moment you stepped through the trees, he felt it. The beat beneath your skin. The warmth. Your blood had a scent â not strong, not desperate like others.Â
Sweet. Calming. Clean. He hadnât fed in days. But you made the ache stir. âYou live here alone?â you asked.Â
He nodded. âFor a while now.âÂ
âItâs beautiful.âÂ
He didnât smile. But he didnât look away.Â
âMost people say itâs empty.âÂ
You tilted your head. âAre you?âÂ
That made something shift in his gaze â not amusement exactly, but the ghost of something near it. âNot today,â he said finally.Â
He took the basket, fingers brushing yours for just half a second. His skin was cool. Not cold. But noticeably not warm. âThank you,â he said, stepping back. âBe careful going back. The light fades fast out here.âÂ
You turned to leave, but your instincts tugged once. âWhatâs your name?â you asked over your shoulder.Â
A pause.Â
âSunghoon,â he said quietly.Â
You nodded once. âIâm Y/N.â Another pause. âI know,â he said.Â
And then the door closed. As you walked back down the path, heart steady but hands tingling from where his touched yours, you couldnât shake one thing: There had been no heartbeat behind that door. Just silence. You donât notice someone- Sunghoon, watching you from his window as you walk back.Â
And that, that night few people go missing because Sunghoon, couldnât handle his hunger for blood. Not when he was reminded of how desperate he was to taste something sweet- something pure like your blood- like you. He canât bite you, not yet. So, he resorted to his usual way, biting the villagers. One by one. Â
It was quiete big village when Sunghoon first step foot in there. 2010. The year Sunghoon decided to enter into the huge village, leaving behind memories of his previous life- the one where everyone treated him like the monster he was. He didnât like it one bit. So? He ended it. Bit and killed everyone who called him a monster. Â
Leaving behind memories and people wasnât new to him. Heâs been like that since he was turned- since 527 years. It's what heâs best at other than sucking peoplesâ blood. Having spent many years on this planet made him discard unwanted memories for good. Â
And maybe thatâs why he never truly loved anyone. Itâs not because he isnât capable of it. It's because he knows that they won't stick around. Not when they find out what he is, not when they leave this world entirely. Also, because, he never truly found someone who made him feel things. Feel things which are foreign to him- Desire. Â
Desire for blood? Thats more like filling his hunger. Desire is what he felt when he saw you. If you ever told Sunghoon that heâd yearn for a girl he met once, heâd scoff, shaking his head. That can never happen, not when he's been on this earth for more than 500 years. He knows how to control his feelings- it was easy for him because he didn't have any feelings in the first place. Â
But why is that the moment he saw you, heard you- your hearbeat, your blood pulsing in your throat, smelled the scent of you, he wanted to make you his? Â
Its funny, really. This whatever weird feeling he has in his stomach is new to him. Perhaps heâs hungry for your blood? No. Heâs hungry for you. Â
You are here to find out how the village disappeared. Maybe you do find out that heâs the reason for the mass disappearance. But will your heart obey to leave behind everything that you've uncovered here? Leave behind someone, who is the sole reason why the disappearance happened in the first place?Â
Only the future holds the answer. Maybe the present? You truly don't know, not when the timeâs twisted and you are spiralling in it.Â

August 14, 2019.Â
You werenât planning to run into him again. You were just taking the trail by the lake. Collecting audio samples. Watching people prep for the lantern festival â all smiles and paper crafts, sunlight catching on water like glass. But then there he was. Standing near the edge of the hill that overlooked the lake. Not moving. Just⌠watching it. Like the water itself had said something only he could hear.Â
You almost didnât say anything. But he turned to you first.Â
âYou walk this path often?âÂ
His voice was still soft. Still slow. Like everything he said had already passed through a hundred filters before reaching you.Â
âNot really,â you said, stepping closer. âBut itâs quiet. Good for thinking.âÂ
âThinking,â he echoed, like it was a foreign word. âYou do that a lot?âÂ
You smiled. âOccupational hazard.âÂ
âAh,â he said. âLet me guess. Youâre a writer.âÂ
âWrong.âÂ
âA scientist?âÂ
You blinked. A beat too long.Â
âWhy that guess?âÂ
âYour eyes,â he said.Â
âWhat about them?âÂ
âThey look like theyâre always dissecting things. Even me.âÂ
He turned back to the lake after that, leaving your thoughts spiraling slightly behind him. The sun was dipping lower, casting light through the trees. A warm breeze stirred the ends of your hair, and for once, you didnât feel like recording anything. Just being here.Â
âWhy do you live so far from the village?â you asked.Â
âThey forget me better this way.âÂ
You frowned. âThatâs sad.âÂ
âNot really.âÂ
âWhen people forget you⌠you stop needing to prove you exist.âÂ
You turned to him then â not just listening but really seeing him. The distance in his eyes. The calm sadness he wore like second skin.Â
âYou donât want to be remembered?âÂ
âI didnât say that,â he replied. âI just donât mind being forgotten.âÂ
A few kids laughed somewhere nearby, running with paper lanterns. You looked down at your shoes. âYouâre hard to forget, you know.â It slipped out before you could stop it. He didnât respond for a moment. Then, so quietly: âSo are you.âÂ
Neither of you moved. The wind stilled. The air felt... charged. Like time paused. Just for this.Â
Thenâ âYou should go,â he said gently.
âIt gets colder here after sunset.â He wasnât pushing you away. But he was. And that strange ache bloomed behind your ribs without warning. You turned to go, steps slow. And as you walked, you felt his eyes on your back the entire time.Â

August 18, 2019.Â
It was supposed to be a short walk. Youâd been gathering weather data, checking tree patterns near the edge of the forest. The innkeeper said the rain wouldnât come until morning. But the sky didnât listen. It started with a single drop. Then another.Â
Within seconds, it was falling fast â fat, cold drops smacking against your shoulders, soaking through your hoodie in a matter of moments. You pulled the fabric up over your head and turned to head back â but the path was already slick, the trees pressing in closer, and fog began to roll over the field like a breath held too long.Â
âSeriously?â you muttered, shivering. Thatâs when you saw him. Standing just under the crooked edge of an old pavilion by the hill â motionless, dry, and completely unbothered by the storm. Sunghoon.Â
You blinked, surprised. "You're always just⌠appearing out of nowhere.âÂ
âYou're always walking into places you shouldn't be alone,â he replied calmly, eyes tracking the water running down your cheek.Â
You hesitated. Then stepped under the structure, chest heaving slightly from the sudden cold. Your shoulders were soaked. Hair clinging to your face. Hands trembling. He watched you quietly. âYou're freezing.âÂ
You gave a weak smile. âThat tends to happen when it rains on humans.âÂ
He didnât return it. Instead, he removed his outer jacket and handed it over without a word. You stared at it. âIâm already wet. You donât have toââÂ
âI want to.âÂ
You took it slowly. It was still warm.Â
You slipped it on. It smelled like night air and something faintly old â like worn books and clean linen. Not the scent of someone who lived alone in a dusty house.Â
The silence stretched.Â
Raindrops tapping the roof like a ticking clock.Â
Your breath fogged the air.Â
His didnât.Â
âWhy were you even out here?â you asked.Â
He didnât answer immediately.Â
Then:Â
âI thought youâd come this way.âÂ
You turned your head sharply. âYou were⌠waiting for me?âÂ
He didnât flinch.Â
âSomething about the sky felt wrong. I knew youâd ignore it.âÂ
âYou donât even know me.âÂ
âI know your pattern.âÂ
That shut you up for a moment.Â
And somehow... warmed you.Â
More than the jacket did.Â
Your teeth chattered softly. You turned away, embarrassed.Â
Suddenly, you felt something.Â
His fingers â gently, lightly â tucking a strand of wet hair behind your ear.Â
You froze.Â
âYou should be more careful,â he murmured, voice barely audible over the rain. âThis place doesnât forgive softness.âÂ
You looked up at him then.Â
And he was already too close.Â
Not touching.Â
Not reaching.Â
Just there.Â
And for a second, you wondered what it would be like if he leaned in just a little more.Â
âDo you always talk like that?â you whispered, lips parted. âLike youâre centuries old?âÂ
He gave the faintest smile like he knows something you donât.Â
The rain kept falling. The sky stayed grey.Â
And your heartbeat too loudly in your ears.Â
You didnât ask him why his hands were cold even though he felt warm.Â
You didnât ask why he never blinked when he looked at you.Â
The rain kept falling.Â
And he stood there, completely still, listening to the rhythm of her blood, her breath, her heart...Â
And all he could think was:Â
Donât touch her again. Donât want her. Donât let her see the monster inside you.Â
But it was already too late.Â
Because for the first time in years, he wanted something enough to lose control.Â
And it was you.Â
The rain had stopped, but the night still smelled like it.Â
You walked slowly.Â
Beside him.Â
His jacket still hung over your shoulders, and you hadnât given it back. He hadnât asked.Â
âYou didnât have to walk me home,â you said softly, watching your boots splash through a shallow puddle.Â
âI know.âÂ
He wasnât smiling, but his tone was warm. Like he wanted to say, I just wanted more time with you, but didnât know how.Â
The village lights shimmered faint in the distance â soft and yellow, like floating lanterns.Â
It felt like you were the only two people in the world.Â
âDo you always spend your nights out there?â you asked.Â
âSometimes. I like the quiet.âÂ
âMost people donât,â you said. âSilence makes them uncomfortable.âÂ
He glanced at you.Â
âWhat about you?âÂ
You thought about it.Â
âI think silence is the only time people stop pretending.âÂ
He actually smiled at that. Just a little. The kind that tugged one corner of his mouth â barely visible, but real.Â
âWhat do you do all day?â you asked, curious now. âNo job? No classes?âÂ
âI read,â he said. âWalk. Watch.âÂ
âThat sounds like what I do, too.âÂ
âYou watch more than most people,â he replied, side-eying you. âAlways observing. Analyzing.âÂ
You raised a brow. âAre you calling me creepy?âÂ
âNo,â he said. âJust... different.âÂ
You looked away to hide your smile.Â
âIs that your way of saying Iâm weird?âÂ
âNo,â he repeated, slower this time. âItâs my way of saying I see you.âÂ
âOkay, your turn,â you said quickly, trying to recover. âWhat did you want to be when you were little?âÂ
He didnât answer right away.Â
âI donât remember,â he said finally. âItâs been a long time since I was little.âÂ
You turned to him, blinking. âHow old are you, Sunghoon?âÂ
He looked at you. Really looked.Â
Then smiled like he knew he shouldnât say the next thing â but said it anyway.Â
âOlder than I look.âÂ
You rolled your eyes. âThatâs not an answer.âÂ
âItâs the only one Iâve got.âÂ
You reached the inn gate.Â
The lantern outside flickered faintly in the breeze. Neither of you moved.Â
The air was warmer now. The clouds had parted just enough for moonlight to wash over the steps.Â
You stood there â his jacket still on your shoulders, the scent of rain still on your skin, and his eyes fixed gently on you.Â
âGood night, Sunghoon,â you said finally, stepping up to the door.Â
âGood night, Y/N.âÂ
You turned the handle.Â
Just before stepping inside, you hesitated.Â
âYou never told me what you like,â you said over your shoulder.Â
He tilted his head slightly. âLike?âÂ
âHobbies. Music. Favorite food. Normal things.âÂ
Another pause.Â
Then:Â
âThe sound of rain,â he said. âBooks with no endings. And people who donât run away.âÂ
You met his eyes.Â
And something about the way he said it made your heart ache.Â
You didnât know why.Â
But you didnât look away.Â
Not for a long moment.Â
Then finally, you stepped inside.Â
And closed the door.Â

August 20, 2019.
You told yourself it wasnât a big deal.Â
Just returning a jacket.Â
Just a polite gesture.Â
Just good manners.Â
So why did your pulse stutter when the house came into view?Â
The same tall trees. The same crooked path. The same quiet.Â
You climbed the short stone steps and raised your hand to knock â but before you could, the door opened.Â
He was already there.Â
Like heâd been waiting.Â
Or like heâd heard you coming long before you got close.Â
âYou came back,â he said, voice low, like sunlight through fog.Â
âJust to return this,â you said quickly, lifting the folded jacket.Â
âOf course.âÂ
But he didnât take it.Â
Instead, he stepped aside.Â
âDo you want to come in?âÂ
You blinked.Â
âIs that okay?âÂ
âIf it wasnât, I wouldnât have asked.âÂ
You stepped inside.Â
The air was cool, but not cold. The interior still had that strange untouched feeling â like a photo frozen in time. Wood floors. A low bookshelf. A kettle on the counter, untouched.Â
You walked slowly, setting the jacket on the nearest chair.Â
âYou live like a ghost,â you said softly.Â
He raised a brow. âIâm neat.âÂ
âYouâre ancient,â you teased.Â
He smirked faintly. âSo youâve said.âÂ
You turned toward the bookshelf â rows of old spines and journals, some in languages you didnât recognize. One looked handwritten. Another... burned around the edges.Â
âThese donât look like theyâre from a village library.âÂ
âTheyâre not.âÂ
âSo what are they?âÂ
âPieces of me,â he said.Â
You paused, looking back.Â
His expression didnât change, but there was something fragile in his stillness.Â
You let the question go.Â
âTea?â he asked suddenly, already reaching for the kettle.Â
âYou drink tea?âÂ
âNo. But you do.âÂ
He made it quietly. Smooth movements. No wasted motion.Â
He handed you the mug and sat across from you, careful, like he was making sure there was enough distance.Â
âDo people visit you often?â you asked, wrapping your hands around the cup.Â
âNo.âÂ
âWhy?âÂ
âBecause they forget me,â he said. âOr⌠I let them.âÂ
âBut you didnât want me to forget you?â you asked quietly.Â
His eyes met yours.Â
Dark. Unreadable.Â
âI didnât plan on you remembering at all.âÂ
You blinked. âWhat changed?âÂ
He stared at the steam curling between you.Â
Then said, without blinking:Â
âYou smiled at me.âÂ
The silence stretched.Â
The weight of it made your chest feel tight.Â
Your fingers tightened around the mug.Â
âWhy do you always say things like that?â you whispered.Â
âLike what?âÂ
âLike it means something. And then you never explain.âÂ
He stood up then, slowly â walking toward the window, looking out at the trees.Â
âBecause Iâve learned that explaining doesnât stop people from leaving.âÂ
âSo you just... stay mysterious?âÂ
âNo,â he said, without turning around. âI stay safe.âÂ
You stood too. Quiet steps.Â
He didnât move as you stopped beside him, just far enough for the space between your hands to hum.Â
âWhat are you so afraid of, Sunghoon?â you asked, not accusing â just soft.Â
A pause.Â
Then finally:Â
âThat if you knew the truth about me⌠you'd stop smiling at all.âÂ
âWhat are you saying?âÂ
âNothing. Donât think too much.â He says.Â
You didnât leave.Â
You just stood beside him.Â
And for a moment, the silence between you wasnât heavy.Â
It was tender.Â
âYou okay?â you asked.Â
He didnât answer.Â
Didnât trust himself to speak.Â
Because right now, he could feel it rising â that burn behind his eyes, the pressure in his jaw, the ancient ache in his throat.Â
The want.Â
Not just to feed.Â
To claim.Â
âI think you should go,â he said, voice tight.Â
âDid I say something wrong?âÂ
âNo.âÂ
âThenââÂ
âPlease.âÂ
His back was turned now. He couldnât let her see his face. Not when his eyes were beginning to glow. Not when his fangs had started to edge down.Â
He bit the inside of his cheek â hard enough to draw blood. Let the pain steady him. Anchor him.Â
âSunghoon? Is something wrong? You can trust me- I trust you.â Â
But all he said was:Â
âI donât trust myself.âÂ
You stared at his back for a long moment.Â
Then quietly⌠you left.Â
The door shut behind you with a soft click.Â
And he stood there in the quiet, eyes still burning, heart raging inside a chest that shouldnât have had one anymore.Â

August 21, 2019.Â
You went to the library to check the villageâs records. Â
To look for any book, any magazine, any piece of information that would help you get a better insight about the villageâs roots. Â
You found a series of census logs tucked into a low cabinetârecords of the villageâs population numbers and names dating back to the 1900s. Faded, but surprisingly intact.Â
And thatâs when you saw it.Â
A pattern.Â
In 2010, the population was 528. In 2012, it dropped to 413. By 2015: 290. 2017: 178.Â
No official records of why. No mass migration. No natural disaster. No illness outbreak.Â
Just... names disappearing.Â
Not all at once. Not dramatically.Â
But slowly. Like something was taking them. One by one.Â
You scanned the reports harder now.Â
Looking for causes. Deaths. Relocations.Â
But most names just had one word stamped across the last column:Â
âUnrecorded.âÂ
You slammed the binder shut and sat back.Â
Your chest felt tight.Â
You looked around the library. The light felt colder. The silence heavier.Â
This is getting nowhere. Rather than the doubts clearing, more questions are surfacing. Too many questions. Too less information. You doubt you are even eligible to solve this mystery. Maybe Dr.Han realizes he made a mistake choosing you once you return. You wonder how the others are doing. Are they going through the same difficulties? Â
You shake your head as if it shakes away the insecure thoughts creeping up. You need to focus. On this village. The people. Everyone here seems normal except... Sunghoon.Â
He always seemed to appear when no one else was around.Â
Your fingers curled against the cover of the book.Â
No. Donât jump to conclusions. That doesnât mean anything.Â
And yetâŚÂ
Something in your gut whispered otherwise.Â
Still, when the sun began to setâÂ
You found yourself walking toward the hill.Â
Toward him.Â
Carrying questions you couldnât ask yet.Â
And a heart that didnât want answers- the real ones. Â
The sky was painted in soft blue fading to lavender. The last light of the sun had just dipped behind the mountains, leaving a glow that shimmered across the tall grass.Â
You stood at the top of the hill, overlooking the village lights far below. Everything was quiet.Â
Except your thoughts.Â
Except him.Â
Sunghoon stood beside you â close, not quite touching. Hands in his pockets. Eyes on the horizon.Â
âYou always find the quietest places,â you said softly.Â
âI think they find me.âÂ
You turned to him, trying to read that impossible expression on his face.Â
âYou always talk like that. Like thereâs a whole world in your head and youâre just⌠giving me scraps.âÂ
âI donât mean to,â he said. âI just forget how to be anything else.âÂ
You took a breath.Â
âThen remind yourself. Just for tonight. Just for me.âÂ
He looked at you then.Â
Really looked.Â
And for the first time, he didnât look away.Â
âYou scare me,â he said quietly.Â
That made your chest tighten.Â
âWhy?âÂ
âBecause you make me want to stay.âÂ
The wind brushed through the grass.Â
Your heart was too loud. Your breath too soft.Â
He stepped closer.Â
His hand, trembling just slightly, reached up and cupped your cheek â gentle, reverent, like he was afraid youâd vanish if he touched too hard.Â
His thumb brushed under your eye, then trailed down to your jaw.Â
âSay something,â he whispered.Â
You didnât.Â
You leaned in instead.Â
And he met you there.Â
The kiss was nothing like you imagined.Â
It wasnât rushed. It wasnât wild.Â
It was slow.Â
Like two people learning what it meant to feel alive again.Â
His lips were cool at first â like the wind before rain â but they softened against yours. Moved with aching care. Like he was memorizing the shape of your mouth and trying not to fall apart doing it.Â
You felt his breath catch.Â
Felt his hand slide into your hair.Â
Felt your knees go weak when he deepened the kiss â still gentle, still hesitant, but full of something you didnât have a name for.Â
And thenâÂ
He pulled away.Â
Fast.Â
Like heâd caught fire.Â
His eyes were wide. Not with lust. Not even guilt.Â
With fear.Â
âI shouldnât haveââÂ
âSunghoon,â you whispered, reaching for him.Â
He stepped back.Â
âNo. This was a mistake.âÂ
âWhy are you doing this again?â âEvery time I get close, you push me away. Why?âÂ
He didnât answer.Â
Not with words.Â
But his faceâŚÂ
That expression?Â
It looked like someone who just tasted something too good. Something too human. Something that made him forget what he was.Â
âBecause I canât be the reason you get hurt,â he finally said.Â
And then he turned away.Â
Leaving you alone with a kiss that still burned on your lips, and a silence that felt heavier than ever.Â

August 26, 2019.Â
You ignored him after that. Turned your head away whenever he got into. Looked away first when you both made eye contact. Avoided him when he came to apologize the very next day of your kiss. Â
Not cause you hate him. You wish you did but no. You remember what Dr.Han said, âObserve. Record. donât interfere.â You can't risk everything just cause of some stupid, weird feelings that you have. No. You canât let your emotions get in the way of your case. This isn't right. Â
Youre altering time, you should do it wisely, not recklessly. Â
And so, you did what you thought was best. Ignore. Distance. Observe.Â
Or so, you thought. Â
You werenât expecting to run into him.Â
But of course you did.Â
He was leaning against the side wall of the bakery, half-hidden in the shade, like always. Silent. Watching.Â
He didnât call out.Â
Didnât wave.Â
But you felt it â the shift in air when his gaze hit you. That quiet weight of his presence.Â
You almost kept walking.Â
Almost.Â
But thenâÂ
âY/N.âÂ
His voice was low. Not cold. Just⌠tired.Â
You turned after a moment of hesitation.Â
Met his eyes.Â
âAre you avoiding me?â he asked.Â
Simple question.Â
But it landed sharp.Â
You didnât answer right away.Â
âIâve just been⌠busy.âÂ
âYouâve seen me.âÂ
âI didnât think you wanted to talk.âÂ
âDonât do that,â he said, stepping forward. âDonât turn it around like itâs me.âÂ
You blinked. âIâm notââÂ
âYou havenât looked at me in five days.âÂ
His tone wasnât angry. It was quiet. Steady. Too steady.Â
âYou smiled at me one night,â he said, âand then the next morning, itâs like I didnât exist.âÂ
âSunghoonââÂ
âAnd I thoughtââ He paused. Ran a hand through his hair, frustrated. âI thought maybe you needed space. But then I saw you with that guy. That tall one from the orchard. And you were laughing. Just⌠laughing. Like everythingâs normal.âÂ
You looked away.Â
He let the silence settle.Â
Then finally:Â
âIt hurt.âÂ
That was it. Just that.Â
Not possessive. Not demanding. Just real.Â
You didnât know what to say. So, you said the only truth you had:Â
âIâm scared, Sunghoon.âÂ
He looked at you for a long time.Â
âOf me?âÂ
âOf not knowing whatâs happening. Of what this village is hiding. Of what youâre hiding.âÂ
You stepped back slightly, instinctively. Not far.Â
But enough.Â
His eyes dropped to the space between you. Then back up.Â
âDo you think Iâd ever hurt you?âÂ
You hesitated.Â
Then, quietly:Â
âI donât know.âÂ
That broke something in him.Â
You saw it. In his eyes.Â
Not rage.Â
Just sadness.Â
âI wouldnât,â he said softly. âNot even if I wanted to.âÂ
You turned back and left without replying, unable to look into his face or even talk to him.Â

September 5, 2019.Â
You shouldnât have gone looking.Â
You told yourself you werenât. That you just needed air. That the trail by the forest was peaceful this time of day.Â
But really? You missed him.Â
And you couldnât stop thinking about what he said.Â
âI wouldnât hurt you. Not even if I wanted to.âÂ
It looped in your mind for days. Through sleep. Through silence. Through guilt.Â
You didnât give him an answer. So, you were going to.Â
You were going to find him and say youâre not sure what this is, but youâre willing to try. That you believe heâs good. That you want to believe it, even if youâre scared.Â
But thenâÂ
You saw it.Â
You heard something first.Â
A low sound. Guttural. Like a growl tucked beneath a breath.Â
And then a figure stumbling â just ahead. At the edge of the trees. A man. Drunk? Hurt?Â
And beside himâ Holding him upâÂ
Was Sunghoon.Â
Or⌠something that used to be himÂ
His head was tilted. His lips pressed just beneath the manâs jaw. His hands clutched the manâs shoulders too tightly. And his eyesâÂ
They glowed.Â
Not fully. Just enough for the shadows to catch it.Â
Red. Dim. Inhuman.Â
You saw his mouth open. Saw the flash of fang.Â
And thenâÂ
The man sagged.Â
Like air had left him.Â
You froze.Â
Your heart punched against your ribs.Â
He stared. Still half-shadowed. Blood on his mouth.Â
He stepped forward.Â
âY/N.âÂ
You backed up.Â
Didnât speak.Â
Didnât breathe.Â
Your eyes wide. Your expression already saying everything your voice couldnât.Â
Fear.Â
The kind that wasnât subtle.Â
The kind you couldnât take back.Â
âNo,â he said quietly. âNo, donâtâplease donât look at me like that.âÂ
He wiped at his mouth. Quickly. Clumsily.Â
âI can explain. Itâs notââÂ
You flinched when he stepped closer.Â
That did it.Â
He stopped.Â
His hands dropped to his sides.Â
And something in him⌠wilted.Â
âSo, this is it?â he whispered.Â
His voice wasnât cold. Wasnât sharp. It was just⌠empty.Â
You didnât say anything.Â
Couldnât.Â
You turned.Â
And ran.Â
And behind you, the last thing you heard was him whispering into the night:Â
âI didnât want you to find out like this.âÂ
You rushed back home and stumbled in.Â
You quickly went to your bedroom, opening the drawers and pulled out your logbook.Â
You sat on the floor beside your bed after grabbing a marker. Â
The pages were filled with sketches. Maps. Observations. And now?Â
Scribbled question marks. Shaky handwriting. A timeline you couldnât look at anymore.Â
2010 â population: 528Â 2012 â 413Â 2015 â 290Â 2017 â 178Â 2019 â barely 60 left.Â
No disease. No evacuation orders. No record of where they went.Â
But you knew now.Â
You saw it.Â
His eyes. His fangs. The man in the forest, half-drained and limp in his arms.Â
You knew.Â
And the truth clawed at your throat like it didnât want to be swallowed.Â
âI wouldnât hurt you,â he had said.Â
You remembered his voice. Too quiet. Too pained to be fake.Â
But it didnât matter now, did it?Â
Because while he was giving you flowers and walking you homeâŚÂ
He was feeding on the people who welcomed you with tea and stories.Â
You closed your eyes.Â
Your hands were trembling.Â
You remembered the first time you saw him.Â
How unreal he looked in the moonlight. How safe you felt beside him.Â
How stupid that was now.Â
Was any of it real?Â
The kiss. The laughter. The jacket he left folded on your bed.Â
Or were you just the next name on his list?Â
The next girl to get too close?Â
Were you just another pawn in his game? Â
Whatever it was, you shouldn't have gotten close with him. Shouldn't have tried to interfere. You shouldn't have done it and God, you regret it. Â
And for the first time in yearsâŚÂ You cried.Â
Not from fear. But from heartbreak.Â
If only you backed down that day on the hill. If only you shouldn't have let him close to you. If only...Â

September 7, 2019.Â
After that day, you didn't leave your room.Â
You didn't go out, the fear of him catching you always haunting your mind whenever you reach for the door handle.Â
And weirdly enough, you should feel better, you really should but why did you feel... empty? Â
Heâs a monster! He kills innocent people, hes a vampire. But why didn't the fact alone scare you? Why were you craving for his presence? Why were you thinking about the moments you've spent together? This isn't even real. Its past, you weren't even born at this time period. You shouldn't be feeling things you aren't supposed to.Â
But you can't deny the fact that your heart aches for his presence- for him. Â
But you don't have time for this. Not when you have two days on your watch. Two days before everything goes back to normal, hopefully. And so, you push aside your feelings saying the time is playing tricks on you and start writing the report. Â
All of your log entries, now are typed and kept in digital doc by you. You enter the log entries, from day one to the day you discovered the root cause of all of this- the dissapearance. You procrastinated too much while typing them in, thinking about all the wonderful days youâve spent with locals- with him.Â
But all of this isn't real, at the end of the day. You don't belong here- you shouldn't. This isn't your timeline. This is not your story. This isn't the reality you are supposed to live in and experience. This is just a case that you've got assigned to. It's your duty. And you fulfilled it by finding out the reason. And this is where you shall end it. End of this chapter, end of this case and end of him. Â

September 9, 2019. Â
Today is the day.Â
You pack your bag, filling it with the things you bought and the things you are taking back to your timeline. The memories, the events and the adventures. Â
There wasn't a single second you haven't thought about him. But this is it. You have to say your goodbyes. Â
You can't warn the others, who haven't yet got bitten by Sunghoon. Because as dr.Han said, âDon't interfere.â Â
Youve already made the mistake of not listening to him and crossed the boundary and faced the consequences. You aren't going to do it again. Because at the end of the day, its fate. It already happened. You can't change it, not even when you go back in time. Because what's written, is written. If changed, you are bound to face the consequences. Â
History can't be re-written. Â
And so, with that, you leave. Â
You stood by the terminal light beam. Â
Delta 12âs jump pulse flickering through the mist.Â
Your bag beside you. Your heart heavy with no one in the future world- the real world would understand or know of. Â
You turned back one last time towards the village.Â
Thanking it for everything it gave you- thanking it for giving Sunghoon.Â
Who'll be remembered as the passing wind and the falling of leaves by you. Â
And when you jumped-Â
The light swallowed you whole.Â
And in the same breath, Â
You were gone. Â

July 22, 2090.Â
You opened your eyes.Â
The jump light was fading. The room around you was cold. White. Familiar in a way that made your chest ache.Â
You were home.Â
But it didnât feel like it.Â
Not yet.Â
Your bag was still at your side. Your fingers still trembling. Your body still in two places â the sterile floors of the lab⌠and the moss-soft grass beneath his feet.Â
You didnât even notice the door sliding open until you heard the softest gasp.Â
âY/N?âÂ
You turned.Â
And there she was.Â
Mira. Her braid was undone, her coat slung over one arm, her eyes red â like sheâd either just woken up⌠or hadnât slept since the moment she jumped back.Â
She stared at you.Â
Then smiled. Weakly.Â
âGod, itâs you.âÂ
You couldnât speak.Â
You didnât have to.Â
She crossed the space between you in three quick steps and pulled you into the kind of hug you didnât realize you needed until her arms wrapped around you.Â
You felt her chest shudder.Â
You were crying too.Â
Soon, the others trickled in.Â
Taehyun â still composed, but his eyes softer than usual. Yuvi â who dropped her bag the second she saw you, crashing into the hug with a half-laugh, half-sob. Jungwon â who just stood by the door for a long time, taking all of you in like he didnât believe you were real until that moment.Â
No one said much at first.Â
They just⌠stood there.Â
Five people who had faced time itself.Â
And came back with hearts a little heavier.Â
Eyes a little older.Â
It felt nice. Seeing everyoneâs familiar faces after being drowned in unfamiliar faces who don't even exist in reality. Â
Finally, Mira sniffed and said, voice shaking:Â
âI missed you guys.âÂ
Yuvi let out a teary laugh.Â
âI didnât realize how much till now.âÂ
Jungwon gave a small nod, blinking fast.Â
Taehyun just whispered:Â
âYouâre all here.âÂ
You wiped your face and smiled.Â
Soft. Quiet. Real.Â
âYeah.âÂ
âWeâre here.âÂ
You all look at each other. A moment of silence. As if you guys are finally taking in and registering everyoneâs presence. And then, you all hugged. A big group hug filled with emotions which arent said loud but felt. And finally, you felt like you are back home. Â

September 11, 2019. Â
The room smelled of old circuits and sterile air. The walls glowed faint blue, humming with quiet energy.Â
You sat where you always had â Same table. Same lights. Same white jackets.Â
But nothing was the same anymore.Â
Not the silence. Not the weight in everyoneâs eyes.Â
Not the version of you that existed before.Â
The door slid open.Â
Dr. Han stepped in, shoulders straighter than usual, expression unreadable.Â
âGood morning.âÂ
He stood at the edge of the circular table, clipboard in hand, eyes scanning each of you.Â
âYouâve all returned safely,â he said. âOn record, your missions were successful. But the records donât matter if we donât understand why.âÂ
He took a breath.Â
âSo, letâs talk about what really happened.âÂ
Dr. Han looked at Yuvi first. Â
âYuvi. March 2311. Seoul. What caused the blackout?âÂ
Yuvi didnât hesitate. But her voice was softer than usual.Â
âIt wasnât just data loss,â she said. âIt was deliberate. The two largest tech giantsâSolarCore and NeuraStreamâwere engaged in a silent war for memory control. They each tried to overwrite the otherâs data⌠and in doing so, they wiped everyoneâs.âÂ
A pause.Â
âThe blackout wasnât a glitch. It was a battle. One that made the world forget six months â and made the companies forget what humanity was.âÂ
Dr. Han only nodded.Â
âMira. 1652. The scribeâs ink.âÂ
Mira folded her hands.Â
âThe man wasnât mad. The âsky-born woman of lightâ â she was a time displacer like us. From the future. Possibly one of the early, undocumented tests.âÂ
She met Dr. Hanâs eyes.Â
âThe ink? It was our ink. Synthetic. Used in lab reports.âÂ
Silence fell.Â
Dr. Han blinked slowly. âYouâre saying the anomaly⌠was ours.âÂ
âYes,â Mira whispered. âWe caused the myth.âÂ
âYou two. Northern Territories. Duplicated villages.âÂ
Taehyun glanced at Jungwon. Jungwon gave a tiny nod.Â
âThere were two villages,â Jungwon said. âIdentical. Same people. Same dogs. Same newspapers.âÂ
âExcept,â Taehyun added, âThey existed in overlapping timelines. One was five minutes behind the other. A permanent sync lag caused by a failed early prototype of time field testing.âÂ
Jungwon finished it quietly.Â
âIt was human error. A time scar. We tried to erase one. But they both kept living⌠until one finally collapsed.âÂ
âY/N,â Dr. Han said, turning to you. âThe village of Myeon-ri. The one that vanished without cause.âÂ
Your fingers curled slightly on the edge of the table.Â
You could still feel the wind there. Still hear his voice.Â
You slid the chip forward.Â
âThere was no disease. No mass migration. No disaster. It was slow. Intentional.âÂ
You looked up.Â
âA predator lived there. Not wild. Human-shaped. Possibly centuries old. A vampire, by older terms. He fed carefully, spaced apart. But eventually, the numbers dropped too far.âÂ
The others stared.Â
You didnât flinch.Â
âHe didnât want the village gone. But he couldnât stop. And no one remembered the ones who vanished. They were erased â from memory, from databases. Like they never existed.âÂ
âVampire?â Dr.Han questioned.Â
âVampire.â You confirmed. Â
Dr. Han asked, quietly:Â
âDid he know who you were?âÂ
A pause.Â
You met his gaze.Â
âNo.âÂ
A beat.Â
âBut I think I knew who he used to be.âÂ
You lied. Of course he knows you. He knows the woman he fell for the first time. He knows the woman who was his first ever kiss.Â
You didn't tell them. You didn't to protect him and in a way, protect yourself too.Â
Dr. Han stepped back. He looked at each of you â not as scientists, but as people who had seen too much.Â
âYou all did what centuries of historians couldnât. You brought back truth.âÂ
He turned toward the exit, then paused.Â
âTake the week off. Rest. File clean versions by the end of the month. Weâll⌠figure out what to do with the rest.âÂ
The door hissed closed behind him.Â
And you all sat in silence. Hearts still somewhere in another time.Â
The streets are quiet at 2 a.m.Â
Neon signs buzz in blues and pinks. Artificial rain shimmers above, falling against projection domes that keep your coat dry.Â
You pass a street musician playing a slow guitar.Â
The song is unfamiliar. But it feels like him.Â
Like a song you mightâve danced to on his porch. Or hummed under your breath while he walked you home.Â
Your throat tightens.Â
You sit on a bench, ignoring your holopad as it pings with follow-up requests from Dr. Han.Â
You canât open the file. You canât even look at his name on the case label.Â
Your hand slowly reaches into your coat pocket.Â
The jacket he gave you is long gone.Â
But you still have one thing.Â
A pressed leaf.Â
Red. From that tree near the hill. Where he waited for you every evening. Where he said nothing â just smiled â like you were his favorite moment of the day.Â
You hold the leaf to your chest.Â
And for a secondâŚÂ you close your eyes.Â
And pretend heâs sitting beside you.Â
Back in the lab, the report still sits unsaved. Youâd written everything except the truth.Â
âHe didnât follow me back.âÂ
But your chest burns with what you didnât say.Â
I think he wanted to. I think I wanted him to. And I think I left the part of me that believed in forever⌠in his hands.Â
You missed him. You looked for him in everything. The wind, the leaves, the clouds, the time, everything. And somewhere back in 2019, sunghoon feels the weight of your absence. Â
Sunghoon didn't really think it'd affect him that much, but it did. He was helpless when he didn't find you. Asked everyone, searched everywhere but there wasn't a trace of you, there wasn't a thing left behind you. And God, did he miss you. Â
The silence after you was worse than the centuries before you.Â
You were only here a month â But the air still tasted like you. The breeze still moved like the hem of your coat.Â
He stood by the river.Â
The same one you almost slipped near. The one where he caught your hand.Â
You used to laugh here.Â
Now it was empty.Â
And so was he.Â
His throat burned. The ache that had quieted in your presence â like your scent tamed the storm in his blood â now returned with wildfire in his veins.Â
He hadnât fed in days. He didnât want anyone else.Â
He wanted you.Â
"Y/N..." he whispered, though the name felt like poison now.Â
He tried to hold back. He really, truly did.Â
But you were gone.Â
And he had nothing left to prove he was still human.Â
The next night, they found the baker's house empty. Then the woman who sold herbs. Then the elder by the hill.Â
No one saw what took them.Â
And Sunghoon?Â
He stood in the village center, blood drying at the corner of his mouth, eyes still locked on the road you used to walk down every dusk.Â
His hands shook.Â
His mouth trembled.Â
"You were supposed to stay..."Â "You promised me forever in your eyes."Â
But you didnât answer.Â
Because you were gone.Â
And so were the people in the village. Â
The village lingered with only with him feeding off of everyone and your presence. Â
Time moved on.Â
The village eventually collapsed. Records rewritten. Footprints washed away.Â
But he didnât vanish.Â
He moved. Fed. Lingered in shadows.Â
Years passed. Decades blurred.Â
He watched the world crawl toward neon skies and cities that blinked like stars.Â
You were long gone. But he never stopped believing in the possibility that time â the very thing that tore you from him â might one day return you.Â

âOkay but hear me out,â Taehyun says, typing aggressively while Mira tries to slap his hand off the panel. âIf I didnât reroute the carbon filters that night, weâd all be bald. Fact.âÂ
âFact?â Mira scoffs. âFact is you nearly made the algae tank sentient. That thing winked at me.âÂ
âI still miss it,â Jungwon adds quietly, head down in his own files, a faint smile playing at his lips.Â
Yuvi kicks her chair back dramatically, groaning. âMy simulationâs stuck again. If I see one more âData Error: Please Restart,â I swear Iâll throw myself into the code.âÂ
Your lips curve as you watch them â the way the five of you fit into this space like puzzle pieces. The room hums with soft tech glows and distant rain tapping the glass walls.Â
It's late. But none of you seem in a hurry to leave.Â
Mira throws an energy bar at Taehyun. He catches it one-handed, smug. Jungwonâs quietly stealing Yuviâs half-charged mug again. You just watch â feeling both part of it and⌠a little removed.Â
Because they didnât live what you lived. Not the way you did.Â
Not with him.Â
Not with Sunghoon.Â
âYou good?â Yuvi asks you suddenly, turning in her chair.Â
You blink. âYeah. Just⌠tired.âÂ
âDuh,â she says, nudging your arm. âWeâre all tired. End of world stuff every Tuesday.âÂ
You laugh. The others join in. And just for a second, it feels normal.Â
Like the past didn't follow you here. Like he never reached across time.Â
But the quiet ache in your chest says otherwise.Â
Later, when the lab empties out one by one â when Yuvi yawns and Mira packs up her files â you linger behind.Â
Taehyun walks past you, ruffling your hair gently like he always does. Jungwon side hugs you as he exits. And Mira and Yuvi give you a hug before logging off. Â
Then the lights dim. The labs settle. And you finally move.Â
It was almost midnight.Â
Your body was running on caffeine, adrenaline, and a half-shattered mind. The labs were quiet. The halls were colder. Your coat clung to your shoulders, and all you wanted was silence.Â
You stepped into the elevator.Â
It was empty. Orâ so you thought.Â
You didnât even notice him at first.Â
Not until the doors closed. Not until the world narrowed into this steel box. And not until a voice â low, aching, quiet â cut through the air like a thread snapping in your chest.Â
âYou didnât even say goodbye.âÂ
You froze.Â
Slowly, your eyes turned toward the figure standing in the far corner.Â
And there he was.Â
Sunghoon.Â
Pressed against the wall of the elevator, the overhead light casting a cold glow across his skin. His white dress shirt clung perfectly across his chest â sleeves rolled just below his elbows, forearms tense. His black tie was loose, like heâd worn it all day just to see you like this.Â
His head was tilted slightly down, shadows covering half of his face â but even in the dimness, you saw it.Â
The red. Faint. Glowing. Watching.Â
His jaw clenched. His lashes heavy against his cheek. His entire body still, like he was trying not to shake.Â
Like just standing here, in front of you, took everything he had left.Â
Your mouth opened. Nothing came out.Â
He finally looked up. Right at you.Â
âYou disappeared,â he said softly. A step closer.Â
âBut I didnât.âÂ
Another step.Â
âI stayed. I searched.âÂ
His voice trembles.Â
âAnd I waited.âÂ
He stops inches away from you. Close enough for you to see that his hands are shaking. That his smile is breaking. That the pain heâs carried all these years hasnât dulled â only buried deeper.Â
Your lips part, but no words come.Â
Because what do you say to a man who waited seventy-one years for a goodbye?Â
Your body doesnât move. But he does.Â
He steps forward â slowly â like if he moves too fast, youâll vanish all over again.Â
Then his hand lifts. And he touches you.Â
Not roughly. Not hungrily.Â
Just one cold, steady hand cupping your cheek â reverent. Careful. The way he always touched you. Like you were something sacred.Â
His other hand rests at your waist, pulling you gently toward him.Â
Your breath hitches.Â
His eyes flicker down to your lips, then back to your eyes.Â
âI missed you,â he whispers.Â
His thumb brushes your skin â and only then, do you exhale.Â
But your voice barely comes out.Â
âHow⌠how did you get in here?âÂ
His smile twitches â half amused, half ruined.Â
âYouâre not the only one who learns things in seventy years.âÂ
You stare at him.Â
âYou broke into the lab?âÂ
âNo,â he murmurs. âI learned how to become a ghost in systems like these. Took years. But I found my way into every firewall with your name on it. Every door you walked through.âÂ
He leans in just slightly â not threatening. Not desperate.Â
Just there. Real. Close.Â
âI wasnât going to leave without seeing you again.âÂ
No matter how many years itâs been â no matter how far you ran into the future âÂ
he still found you.Â
He holds you like a memory he never let go of. Like a secret he kept alive for decades.Â
And when he finally speaks â his voice cracks.Â
âTell me you didnât forget me.âÂ
You blink. Your lips part, but no sound comes out.Â
Because how do you explain the sleepless nights? The dreams where he touched your hand again? The jacket you almost replicated just to feel close?Â
He waits.Â
And when you donât answer â when silence sits between you like a second goodbye â you hear it again:Â
âY/NâŚâ âTell me you didnât forget me.âÂ
You look up at him then.Â
And the glow in his eyes â the faint red warmth â flickers.Â
Flickers like itâll die if you lie.Â
Your throat is tight.Â
âHow did you even find me?â you whisper.Â
He smiles â not the charming one. The broken one.Â
âI never stopped looking.âÂ
A beat.Â
âThe village disappeared, but I didnât. I moved. I adapted. I learned your world. I followed every digital trail you left behind. I memorized your voice. I traced you through five corporate systems and twenty years of noise.âÂ
His forehead leans into yours, almost touching.Â
âYou left without saying goodbye.â âI needed to know⌠if it meant as much to you as it did to me.âÂ
Youâre not breathing.Â
Because in his voice â beneath the stillness, the eternal youth â is pain.Â
Not monstrous. Not violent.Â
Just human. And heartbreakingly yours.Â
Your hands move without thinking. One rises to his chest â over where his heart used to beat.Â
Itâs quiet now. But yours is loud enough for both of you.Â
Heâs still waiting.Â
Eyes glowing. Breath held.Â
âTell me,â He whispers again. âTell me you didnât forget me.âÂ
You swallow.Â
Tears sting the edges of your eyes â the kind you refused to cry back then. The kind you buried inside lab reports and daily logs.Â
And finally, your voice breaks.Â
âI didnât forget.âÂ
He closes his eyes, just for a second. Like the words hurt. Like they heal.Â
âI justâŚâ you breathe, âI just didnât know how to come back.âÂ
There it is.Â
The truth.Â
The full, naked truth sitting between you â soft and devastating.Â
âI didnât know if I could. If I should. If you were evenââÂ
He kisses you.Â
Not rushed. Not hungry.Â
Just⌠quiet. Desperate. Familiar.Â
The kind of kiss that says thank you for surviving.Â
The kind that says donât leave again.Â
it feels like time folds in on itself.Â
Like the wind from the village, the rain on your skin, the jacket on your shoulders, the words you never said â they all return in that one breath.Â
And this time, you kiss him back.Â
Hands gripping the front of his coat, your breath catching â like your body finally remembered what safety tasted like.Â
He pulls you in closer, desperate, like he still doesnât believe youâre real. Like youâll vanish again if he lets go.Â
When your lips part, and you both breathe â barely â your forehead leans into his.Â
The glow in his eyes softens.Â
And thenâÂ
âYouâŚâ your voice cracks, soft and shaking. âYou waited? For me?âÂ
His eyes close slowly.Â
Not like heâs in pain â but like your question alone undid him.Â
âOf course I did,â he whispers. âHow could I not?âÂ
You inhale sharply, because no oneâs ever said it like that.Â
Not with that kind of certainty. Like your existence was never forgettable â just⌠unforgettable.Â
âYou⌠waited? For me?âÂ
His eyes flutter shut â like your voice, your doubt, undoes something deep in him.Â
âOf course I did,â he murmurs, forehead still resting against yours. âHow could I not?âÂ
Thatâs when the tears come.Â
You didnât mean to. You werenât even sure they were still inside you.Â
But suddenly, your eyes burn.Â
And your voice falls out in pieces.Â
âI thoughtâŚâ your lips tremble. âI thought you moved on.â âThought youâd forget me.âÂ
His arms tighten around you instantly â like he can feel you breaking and is ready to hold every shattered piece.Â
âI couldnât,â he says. âI wouldnât.âÂ
Your eyes meet again, and he says it like a vow:Â
âI loved you in 2019. I loved you in every year after. Even the ones where you werenât there.âÂ
âYou⌠waited? For me?âÂ
His eyes flutter shut â like your voice, your doubt, undoes something deep in him.Â
âOf course I did,â he murmurs, forehead still resting against yours. âHow could I not?âÂ
Thatâs when the tears come.Â

Your eyes meet again, and he says it like a vow:Â
âI loved you in 2019. I loved you in every year after. Even the ones where you werenât there.âÂ
And just like thatâ you stepped into him.Â
Your arms wrapped around his torso tight, face burying into his chest, body trembling from everything youâd held back for too long.Â
And heâÂ
He didnât hesitate.Â
He wrapped his arms around you so firmly, so protectively, it almost hurt. Like if the world tried to take you again, it would have to tear through him first.Â
One arm locked around your waist. The other curled high around your back, hand cradling the base of your neck â fingers gently gripping, anchoring you like he was afraid youâd disappear again.Â
âYouâre here,â he breathed. âYouâre really here.âÂ
He didnât just hold you.Â
He claimed you â not with force, but with everything he never got to say.Â
This wasnât a soft embrace.Â
This was the way you hold something sacred. The way you cling to a miracle.Â
And for the first time after he met in seventy years, he didnât feel cold anymore.Â
He held you like you were his whole world â like everything he endured, every year he starved, every time he nearly gave upâŚÂ was worth it just to feel you in his arms again.Â
And for a long, still moment â you didnât speak.Â
You just breathed. Chest rising against his. The faint, unfamiliar sound of his heartbeat echoing somewhere far beneath.Â
Then, into the quiet, barely louder than a breathâÂ
âI missed this,â you whispered, cheek pressed against his chest. âI missed you.âÂ
His hand gripped you tighter, almost instinctively. Like your words shattered something inside him he didnât even know was still breakable.Â
He didnât say anything at first.Â
But you felt it â in the way his thumb moved slowly against your back, in the way his body trembled just slightly against yours.Â
âSay it again,â he murmured.Â
You tilted your head just slightly, looked up into those red-flecked eyes that had waited decades for this.Â
And this time, you didnât whisper.Â
âI missed you, Sunghoon.âÂ
He looked at you, cupped your face with both of his hands with so much of care as if you were porcelain and would break if you added any more force. Â
He kissed your forehead like it was the only language he had left.Â
Slow. Tender. Devastating.Â
Your eyes fluttered shut â his lips lingering just a heartbeat longer, like he couldnât quite let go.Â
And when he finally pulled back, just far enough to look at you again â his voice cracked through the silence.Â
âDonât leave me this timeâŚâ A pause. A breath. âAngel.âÂ
The name hit you harder than the kiss.Â
Because thatâs what he used to call you. Back in the village. When your hands were cold from the rain, and heâd wrap his jacket around you like you were something worth saving.Â
You blinked back the sting in your eyes. But he saw it. Of course he did. His thumb brushed just beneath your eye.Â
âYou donât have to say anything,â he murmured. âJust⌠stay.âÂ

BEIJING (Reuters) - After quitting the education industry last August due to China's crackdown on private tutoring, He Ajun has found an unlikely second life as an unemployment influencer.
The Guangzhou-based vlogger, 32, offers career advice to her 8,400 followers, charting her journey through long-term joblessness. "Unemployed at 31, not a single thing accomplished," she posted last December.
He is now making around 5,000 yuan ($700) per month through ads on her vlogs, content editing, private consultations and selling handicrafts at street stalls.
"I think in future freelancing will be normalised," said He. "Even if you stay in the workplace, you'll still need freelancing abilities. I believe it will become a backup skill, like driving."
China is under instruction to unleash "new productive forces", with government policies targeting narrow areas of science and technology including AI and robotics.
But critics say that has meant weak demand in other sectors and risks leaving behind a generation of highly educated young people, who missed the last boom and graduated too late to retrain for emerging industries.
A record 11.79 million university graduates this year face unprecedented job scarcity amid widespread layoffs in white-collar sectors including finance, while Tesla, IBM and ByteDance have also cut jobs in recent months.
Urban youth unemployment for the roughly 100 million Chinese aged 16-24 spiked to 17.1% in July, a figure analysts say masks millions of rural unemployed.
China suspended releasing youth jobless data after it reached an all-time high of 21.3% in June 2023, later tweaking criteria to exclude current students.
Over 200 million people are currently working in the gig economy and even that once fast-growing sector has its own overcapacity issues. A dozen Chinese cities have warned of ride-hailing oversaturation this year.
Redundancies have even spread to government work, long considered an "iron rice bowl" of lifetime employment.
Last year Beijing announced a 5% headcount reduction and thousands have been laid off since, according to official announcements and news reports. Henan province trimmed 5,600 jobs earlier this year, while Shandong province has cut nearly 10,000 positions since 2022.
Meanwhile, analysts say China's 3.9 million vocational college graduates are mostly equipped for low-end manufacturing and service jobs, and reforms announced in 2022 will take years to fix underinvestment in training long regarded as inferior to universities.
China currently faces a shortage of welders, joiners, elderly caregivers and "highly-skilled digital talent", its human resources minister said in March.
Yao Lu, a sociologist at Columbia University, estimates about 25% of college graduates aged 23-35 are currently in jobs below their academic qualifications.
Many of China's nearly 48 million university students are likely to have poor starting salaries and contribute relatively little in taxes throughout their lifetimes, said one Chinese economist who asked not to be named because of the sensitivity of the issue.
"Although they cannot be called a 'lost generation', it is a huge waste of human capital," the person said.
'DOING THREE PEOPLE'S JOBS'
Chinese President Xi Jinping in May urged officials to make job creation for new graduates a top priority. But for younger workers unemployed or recently fired, the mood is bleak, nine people interviewed by Reuters said.
Anna Wang, 23, quit her state bank job in Shenzhen this year due to high pressure and frequent unpaid overtime. For a salary of about 6,000 yuan per month, "I was doing three people's jobs," she said.
Her ex-colleagues complain about widespread pay cuts and transfers to positions with unmanageable workloads, effectively forcing them to resign. Wang now works part-time jobs as a CV editor and mystery shopper.
At a July briefing for foreign diplomats about an agenda-setting economic meeting, policymakers said they have been quietly urging companies to stop layoffs, one attendee told Reuters.
Olivia Lin, 30, left the civil service in July after widespread bonus cuts and bosses hinted at further redundancies. Four district-level bureaus were dissolved in her city of Shenzhen this year, according to public announcements.
"The general impression was that the current environment isn't good and fiscal pressure is really high," she said.
Lin now wants a tech job. She has had no interview offers after a month of searching. "This is completely different from 2021, when I was guaranteed one job interview a day," she said.
REDUCED STIGMA
Shut out of the job market and desperate for an outlet, young Chinese are sharing tips for surviving long-term unemployment. The hashtags "unemployed", "unemployment diary" and "laid off" received a combined 2.1 billion views on the Xiaohongshu platform He uses.
Users describe mundane daily routines, count down the days since being fired, share awkward chat exchanges with managers or dole out advice, sometimes accompanied by crying selfies.
The increasing visibility of jobless young people "increases broader social acceptance and reduces stigma surrounding unemployment", said Columbia's Lu, allowing otherwise isolated youth to connect and "perhaps even redefine what it means to be unemployed in today's economic climate".
Lu said unemployed graduates understood blaming the government for their plight would be both risky and ineffective. Rather, she said, they were more likely to slip into "an internalisation of discontent and blame" or "lying flat".
He, the influencer, thinks graduates should lower their ambitions.
"If we have indeed entered 'garbage time', then I think young people could accumulate skills or do something creative, such as selling things via social media or making handicrafts."

RFK Jr. appoints controversial David Geier to recover âlostâ vaccine safety data from CDCâs VSD system amid transparency push.
Critics blast Geierâs qualifications, citing past disciplinary actions, while allies defend his unique expertise and decades of vaccine research.
Controversy hinges on public access to CDCâs Vaccine Safety Datalink (VSD), which has been tightly controlled for over two decades, sparking accusations of fraud and secrecy.
Revelations of CDCâs alleged destruction of early autism-linked vaccine data in 1999 fuel calls for transparency and independent oversight.
Paternalism in healthcare and long-standing fights over vaccine mandates loom large as HHS seeks to rebuild trust through open data and community-driven health solutions.

Tell me about Patience and Celia
PATIENCE AND CELIA MY BELOVEDS
Aka the murder science lesbians.
Basically they live in a universe where magic is real but like not for everyone and also supervillain level science is real basically supervillains of all kinds are real but the government is like ah fuck people can't know this we need like a secret spy team to fight them for us and they have to be people who won't tell anybody so various types of screwups and failures. Enter the covert ops team my beloved.
(I am always a characters first author. There are many holes in this worldbuilding. I don't care).
Patience and Celia are the team's resident scientists and it's basically their job to like...sit at headquarters and send data to their team while they're doing missions and whatnot (at least at the beginning).
They're the only two characters I've really fleshed out but Celia is like a brilliant biochemist science nerd who is always making various devices for the team and giving scientific reads on situations. She's a bit like Dana Scully but colder - very detached very withdrawn very hesitant to show any kind of softness to anyone ever. She will blow you up with homemade explosives and she will eviscerate you with a single glare and she has put up with stem bros for years until she got fed up and sabotaged their project because yes she's also a petty bitch. She does have a hidden soft side but it takes soooo much to get it out. She hates everyone especially Patience.
Patience is a psychologist who basically no one would give a job to because her qualifications lowkey aren't real but she's brilliant. She's basically a mind reader but not really - not technically super powered but she knows exactly what to say to cut you to your core, even if she's never met you. She's the team's behavioral analyst. She is also the team's resident softie, and though she has a lot of manipulative power she rarely uses it. She really really wants Celia to like her and enjoys being friendly to her because it makes Celia uncomfortable. Patience is also the team's resident damsel in distress meaning she often has to go get taken prisoner on purpose because then the villains will tell her things.
Anyway their dynamic is gold and yes they fall in love so much happens to them and they change a lot but that's the basics on who they are.

The CFA Charter in the Age of Algorithms: Can Certification Outlast Clout?

Evidently, in the last few years, there has been a visible change in the entire financial landscape. The former traditional heroes of the investment banking industry, CFA charterholders, and certified analysts are now being challenged by a new group- the âfinfluencers,â who have emerged rather more as a digital class than as an institution or a regulatory body. These are the social media-savvy financial influencers reshaping how young investors and aspiring finance professionals consume their financial educations via platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. The big question is can rigorous, structured qualifications like the CFA Charter withstand this wave of simplified, fast-paced content?
Finfluencers: Fast Fame, Greater Reach
Finfluencers are financial influencers, not necessarily with credentials and degrees. Most of them self-taught traders, people interested in personal finances, or early investors who share some tips, tricks, and general opinions on the market with others online. They cover things from stock market explainers to cryptocurrency predictions, budgeting hacks, and passive income strategies.
The allure is straightforward. Finfluencers cover complex finance concepts in widely understandable, digestible parcels that speak to the digitally born Gen Z and millennials. They do not use academic language but tap into everyday analogies and personal accounts to bring understanding. In this case, when such a message goes viral with high speed through social media algorithms, it provides them with unparalleled reach.
Is There A Trust-Gap?
Finfluencers, like with most other professions, could reach a wide audience lacking all the credentials and depth. In fact, misinformation among financial content creators is a major concern. In March 2024, swings of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) against unregistered investment advisers who misled their followers with false or exaggerated claims surged. A few finfluencers were fined or banned from offering investment advice without proper registration.
That is a glaring example of the growing trust deficit. The determinants include severe fines that barely catch the eye of talents on the online stock market. Finfluencers whose motivations tilt virality over responsibly, thus leaving virulent investment strategies or incomplete financial insights for public consumption; thus, unlike CFA Institute, which stands for a strong Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct, these influencers remain unaccountable.
CFA: The Gold Standard of Finance
The CFA Charter, therefore, stands tall in this very setting as a mark of trustworthiness, depth, and professionalism. The three levels of the CFA examination process test candidates on a wide range of subjects including equities, derivatives, ethics, portfolio management, and alternative investments. The process is not geared toward anything viral; it is designed to develop expertise over the long term.
CFA charterholders are not simply financial analysts; they are also often the decision-makers in asset management firms, hedge funds, and investment banking. Their pronouncements are data-supported, model-supported, and framework-supported.
How The CFA Charter is Adapting
Surprisingly, the CFA Institute is not ignorant to digital evolution. They have just launched new micro-credential programs an updated curriculum concentrating on the real world and fintech as a result of the increasing interest among young candidates. The latest modules include blockchain, decentralized finance (DeFi), and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) investing.
This is to say that values are updated to adapt and remain relevant without compromise to traditional ethics and analytical rigor. These movements are important to remain vibrant in a world loaded with information but as rare as real insight.
Location and Global Awareness
The overall growth of the financial influencer will find its acme in the rapidly developing financial markets. In India, where the digital tentacles are outspreading so fast, platforms such as YouTube and Instagram are becoming the most important conduits for financial literacy. Cities like Mumbai, India's financial capital, are experiencing a dual surge: a rise in fintech content creators alongside a rise in CFA aspirants.
The appetite for structured learning continues unabated. Increases in enrollments for courses like CFA course mumbai have been noted as finance students scramble for credibility in an age of omnipresent but often misleading online content.

Are Influencers and Analysts Able to Work Together?
Finfluencers and CFA professionals have the ability and potential to work together. Some charterholders have started to build their personal brands via LinkedIn and YouTube, a blend of credibility yet relatability. They use digital tools to help facilitate an understanding of finance while maintaining professionalism. This voice is desperately needed!
With enough regulations, cooperation, and transparency in disclosures, these finfluencers can move towards becoming aware educators. Charterholders with a CFA can escape the insular space of the boardrooms and reach the general population. Merging entertainment and expertise is the golden intersection.
Effect of Regulation and AI
The roles of both finfluencers and analysts are poised for change as AI tools like ChatGPT, portfolio optimization bots, and sentiment analysis engines become entrenched. While content creation is becoming easier, verifying the quality has become harder. Across the world, regulatory scrutiny is increasing on financial content posted on social media, which has led platforms to introduce disclaimers and to flag or, in some cases, discontinue specific hashtags regarding investment tips.
This new way signals more demand for verified professional advice. Everybody will keep searching on social media for financial education, but for those decisions that truly matter, CFA qualifications do provide some level of protection.
Conclusion: Coexistence Through Evolution
The arrival of finfluencers has brought a certain democratization to finance. Labels such as investing, saving, and creating wealth are on more lips than ever. However, with that democratization comes responsibility: with volatile markets and complex products, something like the CFA Charter provides a safety net-an anchor in the sea of fast-moving and oftentimes, untested advice.
What is ironically true for cities like Mumbai, where the wave of financial content promotes the 'fast', holds just as much for the 'slow'. The well-trodden paths remain a strong second option. CFA Training Program in Mumbai continues to attract serious-minded candidates who value substantive knowledge, ethical standards, and career credibility.
A balance between virality and tangible value will, in the long run, favor whoever can harness both sets of skills. Whoever merges insight and clout will thrive in the next ten yearsâfinfluencers, CFA candidates, or whichever other designation may come by. That's a journey already worthy of pursuit!

Ok I've said something to this effect like five times now but it makes me feel crazy that I'm now known as The Data Analysis guy like my supervisor introduced me to our collaborators as "a skilled analyst" when literally my only qualifications are
- pretty extensive experience working with R in general, okay, I'll allow that this is a real qualification
- being able / willing(?) to Google new methods and implement them in whatever specific use case I have
That's all. Zero formal qualifications. I'm not "an analyst" đŞ
