Can't decide if the Foundation US would redact profanity if it's not in English
#like ive seen logs where they do for english swears#and lots where they don't#but there's like a twelve word string of obscenity do we think they go [DATA EXPUNGED] on it or just 'no one's gonna know'?

By the most generous estimate, I've now slept for 3+2 hours. But that 2 is suspect, bcs I didn't exactly fall asleep within the first hour I crawled back into bed.
#group-project is due tomorrow -> we have some weird glitch that means we can't send information past a certain size#which i'm pointing fingers about bcs one of the genAI-guys were apparently fucking around with getting it to work early on#(and now it works -> but only for limited amounts of data. suspicious)#otherwise everything is mostly done? we've made a LOT of really weird decisions that i'm side-eyeing. but it works. mostly.#like why do we have a ''my profile''-page AND a ''user profile''-page? instead of a user-profile page with edit-buttons?#why are the images full-objects when they only exist to attach to other objects with a list of urls?#(meaning that they need ids + info about what object they're attached to + the actual url)#(whereas the images of all other objects are just an attached string-url -> and this works just fine literally everywhere)#so yeah. weird shit. -> also one of us is probably gonna fail bcs this time we're checked on what we contributed#and he's spent the first two weeks doing fuck-all and the last two weeks in spain#but hey at least he managed to break everything once (with a really weird merge) before he went. thanks.#personal stuff#school

I help run a fibre arts club at my university and normally it's chill but recently we've been getting like nonstop requests from people in various STEM programs trying to do Studies on us. They want to Examine the Knitters Like They Are Bugs
#i live in a STEMy area and this is a STEMy school so i kinda understand#but why so many. like everyone wants in on looking at the fibre arts people. psych majors computer science majors etc etc#we reject them because were such a small chill free club as a sort of refuge from the corporate way other clubs are run in my school#and we dont wanna scare our ten regulars by having random people observe them LOL#and particularly in the case of the psych majors that keep asking they always wanna do like#gender focused studies like 'why do young women like crochet' and im like#our club was built by lgbt students and we are open to any gender or age group. and we get members of any gender or age group#ur not gonna find your study unless you learn about this clubs specific culture. there's too many factors ur ignoring#computer science people just want us to strap go pros on our heads or something for fine motor skill data??#its fascinating. bro we are just turning string into stuff leave us beee

I may be slightly unhinged when it comes to my red strong board but I am also slightly proficient in data visualization. Behold several graphs of the DPHW numbers from all currently released eps.
Feature my 3d plot (4d if you include the colour bar). With indications of statements read by Chester (black ring), Norris (blue ring), Augustus (red ring), if they are magnus related (green ring) or if the statement comes direct from subject (purple diamond)
Please enjoy 👁️

When I loaded Listen to Wikipedia tonight it glitched & stopped playing after a few sparse notes. For a brief moment before I thought to reload, I was living in a horrific nightmare world where the edits to English Language Wikipedia were so sparse that they no longer made music. It was like experiencing the heat death of the open web.
#Hatnote Listen to Wikimedia is a beautiful generative ambient music + visualization piece that uses live edit data to play music#Bells indicate additions and string plucks indicate subtractions.#Pitch changes according to the size of the edit; the larger the edit the deeper the note.#So you're literally listening to the sound of knowledge being generated#It's very peaceful and makes me fell less alone. People are out there tonight changing the world in so many little ways.

something good about getting my degree: could figure out how to fix an ao3 wrapped python notebook all by myself
#the og code didn't work bc I think ao3 recently changed their HTML#so I needed fix some parts that do the data parsing but I've done a lot of string parsing with python so that's easy#still took me stupid amount of time#can't wait to see the code fail anyway for some stupid mistake I didn't notice lol

Boy o boy some of these star trek episodes are extremely American Enlightened Centrist TV Writer In The Late 1980s and it really shows 🙄
#yeah yeah yeah authoritarianism gulags loss of individual liberties cartoon villain child murdering terrorism yeah yeah#it usually isnt so bad but ive noticed a more blatant string of them this season of tng#like back to back the hunted and the high ground episodes 🙄🙄🙄#just SO curious what real world events/groups the 1989 american writer was clearly mulling over as he wrote particularly the latter 🤨#(data u r so correct about terrorism tho dont let ole captain frenchie liberal tell you differently)#i should make better note of the writers for each episode but i havent done so yet#ugh i bet there's gonna be gold mines of unsubtle anticommunism when we get to the post-ussr seasons 😞#well i know from Voyager its obvious the borg are meant to be analogous for soviet cUlTuRaL iMpErIaLiSm or whatever#jokes on them though bc the borg are sick as hell & I'll never hate them anyway! borg me up baby!!!#star trek tng#dani talks about tv

oh my god i just found out something so funny that i don't know how i never noticed before. This will be very specific and probably confusing but bear with me for a moment
This is in the scripts for the final boss in transistor
Almost everything is commented out. But various parts of it (it was trying to play animations of portraits appearing, text, etc). Imply that the final boss was going to have this goofy super-smash-brothers-type intro sequence to it. I don't know how i've never noticed this huge section when I looked in this exact script a couple years ago. I feel almost obligated to see if it's possible to uncomment it back in (I've never tried actually editing any of these scripts before so its scary...and I wouldn't be certain if the images it calls for would still exist)
#mypost#I dont think transistor ever got an actual proper tcrf page. I may be one of the only people in the world who know about some of these#Like there's actually. A lot of unused strings. Good chunk of unused code as seen here. Royce has an entire unused attack#Which I don't remember if it still had data defined....#If i do get brave enough to try editing the files I should at least see if that one still works

I would welcome more thought-out opinions below.
#The application is 1) scraping data and parsing it and 2) server for display that data#the scraping/parsing bit i dont know how to do in typescript as well. does node make string manip any less painful than base js?#because dear god. i am constantly missing [:] syntax.

do we all have a specific song in folklore that gives us a visceral reaction by sending us straight back to july 2020 or is it just me
#the first verse of invisible string....#I don't know why but it just makes me time travel back to me in my living room desk working from home and listening to folklore on repeat#while sneaking in hours of stardoll game play in between data processing#I miss it#I don't think I'll ever feel that kind of peace and quiet again#ask

Like is this the experience

Okay so some people can’t see objects in their imagination and some people don’t think in words and some people hear their thoughts like a voice and others don’t. I get that
But how many distinct channels do most folks have playing at once? cause my normal range is 2-4 and I though that was just what thinking was LIKE but CBD brings that down to just 1
#Like if I have to remember 9 numbers fast I just#hold onto the shape of the first 3 then the verbal sound of the second 3 and the image of the last 3#So it’s like a split second video clip with audio instead of a long string of data#Does that make sense#Who else out here doing that

Intan's iterations range from "person who is neurodivergent" to "person who lives with a ghost only they can see (an allegory for something)" to "creation of a famous scientist with the entire process going wrong" to "created by an evil magical cult"
