Story - summarized

Nikki comes home from grocery shopping to hear Momo planning a surprise party for her birthday. Everyone expects it to snow on Nikki's big day, so they plan a theme around snow and snowflakes. She can't wait, since she loves making a wish on the first snow of winter.

But when her birthday comes, there's no snow.

She remembers the wish tradition starting when she was four years old. Her dad's job took him halfway around the world, so her sister, Yoyo, took her outside to see the snow. Little Nikki caught a snowflake and wished she could celebrate her birthday with him. When the time came for her birthday dinner, her father walked through the door!

Every year, Nikki would catch a snowflake during the first winter snow and make a wish, for cake, for toys, for good grades. And every year, her wish was granted. Then, Nikki traveled to Miraland. Even when the continent was destroyed, it would snow, peaceful and reviving. So, Nikki made one more wish.

That wish brought you, the player, to Miraland.

Now, Nikki is with you and all her friends to celebrate her birthday. And the best surprise of all? It finally snows! She catches a snowflake and wishes for happiness and prosperity for all her friends, and for you to be happy as well.

Connections

-The visions Nikki has of Miraland reference different suits and Reflections: Ashley's Meteoric Oath (singing by Lake Silvermoon), Mercury's Glittering Era (the red carpet in Lodden), and Yisu's Golden Tambourine (the Priestess with the golden ornaments).

-You, the player, are an interesting character in Shining Nikki: not only did Nikki's wish bring you to the Gate of Heart, but Leonid's Prophecy reveals that you are the reincarnation of the God of Beauty and Styling that watched over Miraland. Although the original god can never come back, you carry that same power and hope for change.

Fun Facts

-Snowflakes are an important motif to Nikki, and she has had her snowflake necklace since at least Love Nikki if not World Traveler. Leonid gave her the necklace she currently wears. Also, Nikki has at least two UR snowflake necklaces (not part of any set) that she designed.

-Most of Nikki's birthday suits are Sweet/pink attribute. The exception is Colorful Cake Tower, which is Sexy/purple attribute.

-The last line of the entire Reflection - "Can you hear it? The sound of the melting snow." - is almost verbatim the line that ends the Shining Nikki trailer.
