#do I use some snippets from the text and overblow it? yeah. You'll have to pry Penelope's sneeze of death from my cold dead hands

I think more people need to realize that their headcanon doesn't necessarily need to be backed up by sources and/or need an explanation. I think sometimes fandom is so desperate for THEIR version of headcanon/interpretation to be "real" and/or supported in order to feel "validated" when no. You don't need your Headcanon to be supported by canon in order to play with it. You can just play with it, you don't have to force it to be "canon" or make stuff up in order to create with it.
Just...create with it. Who needs validation when you're having fun just to have fun.
i honest to god do not care what people headcanon in greek mythology. i don't care if you think penelope is taller than odysseus, that she's a fighter, that hermes and circe were lovers, that ares is titled "defender of women"—whatever it is, it's fine. fantasize as much as you want.
what bothers me is when people start pushing these things as canonical facts, carelessly spreading it as gospel and correcting people who have an opposing fantasy yet when asked for a source, the only response is that they read it from a modern myth retelling, "someone told me" or an instantaneous back tracking of "idk it's just my opinion and more fun". i feel as though this kind of mindset of forcing your taste to be 'the right one' is even more apparent in recent fandom years.
honestly, this isn't just limited to greek mythology but applies to any fandom spaces (though misinformation about greek mythology is so rampant within fandom spaces that i can't help but highlight it). stop pushing what you like onto people and be satisfied in knowing (and it is the most important) that you personally like it
