I have a preliminary job interview thing today where I pre-record answers to some questions without interacting with another person directly, and it seems like it should be easy to do but I opened the first question and immediately went blank and panicked :/

apartment hunting lead me to a job interview tomorrow, wish me luck 🙏😭
#it just happened out of the blue??? so basically the gist of it was that i was handing documents on behalf of my mom and one of the people#in the office just went 'u can work for us here'#and i went huh?!?!?!?!!? but i mean hey why not. it's a great opportunity#might hold off on uni if i do get this job (which i hope i do augh please 🙏🙏😭😭😭)#aparently one who offered me the job was a recruiter so that explains it#i feel so nervous tho i mean it wont be the end of the world if i dont get it but i just hope i dont mess it up#i alr met the person whos gonna interview me he seems like a great dude too im just super fucking anxious aughhvghnhgv#that's it for the small update i swear more art soon a lot has been happening lately so yk its kinda hard to find time to finish things#frambling...?

no one really knows what this guys deal is bc he doesn't like or talk to anyone. Honestly the only reason he stays in RiverClan instead of fucking off to be a loner is for the security. He prefers vanishing early to patrol by himself, which he usually can do as even the deputy occasionally forgets he exists for days at a time.

I'm going to fucking kill someone how FUCKING hard is it to write down basic information??!???
#red said#i am hiring at work. this is my first time being in charge of a recruitment process.#there is one (1) piece of process documentation. it contains a 'timeline' but no actual timescales.#asked my manager he didn't know#so i googled and made my best guess#signed off the job ad with him. sent it to HR.#HR responded with a LIST OF LEAD TIMES THEY NEED AT EVERY STAGE#which means instead of interviewing when i HAVE TIME and getting someone in for mid April#i have to move the interview to the busiest part of the quarter and interview the DAY I GET BACK FROM HOLIDAY#in order to have someone in before midMAY#and I'm just so fucking angry because this was all avoidable!!!! i have been asking for deadlines for WEEKS!#i could have done the prep work sooner if i knew when i needed to fucking do it!#YOU KNOW HOW LONG IT TAKES AND I'M MEANT TO JUST GUESS???????#literally line 1 of the recruitment policy should be 'it will take X wks minimum from finalising the ad to your new employee starting'#'interviews must happen at least X weeks after recruitment closes'#etc#like how fucking hard is it#honestly about to spend 2 hours in excel so i can pass-ag send the HR manager a fuckin timeline calculator to share with managers#cause it's not even HARD TO DO#but i SHOULDN'T do that bc i have LOADS OF OTHER WORK TO DO that i haven't HAD TIME TO FUCKING DO#because I've had to spend 3 hours REDOING MY FUCKING 4 MONTH PLAN

Had to make/take 5 seperate phonecalls over the course of 2 hours to chase up my disability bennefits bc turns out when they said the claim was under my legal deadname it was, in fact, not,

currently working on the early stages (ie. user research) of a spotify user interface redesign as a personal portfolio project and i am ridiculously excited about it
#this is my current hyperfixation#i'm working on designing a survey and interview guide#with luck i will start conducting user interviews next week#my goal is to spend the next two weeks collecting data and then analysis it the following week#then it will be on to defining the problem statements and working on personas and user journeys and other deliverables#also thinking abt using tiktok to get the survey to (hopefully) reach a wider audience and document my process#lots of big things#this is what happens when my literal ux design job does not give me enough tasks to entertain me#antlerknives.txt

got the two hardest tasks of the month out of the way this week. still have a couple big-ish projects due by the end of April but the stressful stuff is over so hopefully I can focus on writing more now that I'm not sick

Ditto for phone/video call/Zoom interviews. Please treat them like you would an in-person interview! This is not a chat with your bff or a cute Tik Tok!
not to sound like a boomer, but I need some people to learn how to write emails in a semi-professional (at the very least) format so you're not cold emailing a business/potential employer/any other stranger about formal matters in the exact same way you'd DM a close friend on instagram
the formality/language can loosen up in the email chain once you've established a rapport and you match the other person if they're being less formal, but please don't have the very first email you send a stranger be written in all lowercase ultra-casual sms slang with no greeting or signature and a billion emojis
#this sounds like a 'argh kids these days doing [insert exaggerated story they don't actually do in reality]' kind of thing#except that I've gotten soooo many emails like this#< this!#so many like pink glitter font resumes and just super cringe interviews during our recent search for a receptionist#I should be able to tell if Doc is doing a zoom interview or watching an aspiring TikTok influencer when listening from the other room#and I legit Could Not#and emails and resumes with mispellings big grammar errors etc from people looking for a job that is entirely about communication!#like y'all will be writing in the patient chart which is a *legal document*#you should be trying to show off how well you can do the job your applying for
