Something that really bothers me when someone is trying to point out how much money someone is making on Patreon is that they'll take the lowest reward tier and just multiply it by how many people support them and go "they're making AT LEAST this much money" when like... that's not how people in general use Patreon???
Many people only do the lowest possible amount ($1) without paying for a reward tier, you know just to show a little bit of support, and it just feels like such a disingenuous way to make your argument to pretend that's not the case. It's especially frustrating when it's people who are patreon creators themselves and know this from personal experience, but saying "they're making at least 1/5 of my previous estimate" isn't as good for dunking on someone I guess.
#Sunny Life#if you can't make your point without inflating numbers for better dunkability then don't bother at all honestly

Hoping people realize that inaccessible means "hard for disabled people to do" and "hard for people in tough circumstances to do" not "not enough youtube videos". A key factor here that seems to be forgotten is time. Even the most able bodied person rarely has the time to drop 7-8 hours per couple hundred frames of animation, or 3-4 per in-depth page of studies. To be fully honest the average employed person rarely has consistent time blocks to drop doing a continuous eye and hand straining task. Good for everyone who does, but this post seems to be targeting those who find it hard to draw. And time is a huge part of that.
Free time is not an infinite commodity and it is affected by many factors, including and most intensely by class. Either way, the amount of time suggested is irrelevant to the main point here, which seems to be that art requires Effort (sufficient time and suffering) and art completed without it is somehow lesser. Is it so wrong that artists want to complete projects under the crushing weight of capitalism? Even studio artists and animators agree that using AI powered tools for things like in-betweens and mapping makes it easier to focus on the creative aspects of the project. This post completely misses the mark of why people prefer to use AI and AI powered help in their art. I'm an artist and I dont enjoy using image generation, but I'm not stubborn enough to act like AI will be the downfall of the known universe. The war on image generation has already been lost.
Posting tone deaf (and to be fully honest, insulting to disabled people) piles of links (to resources most aspiring artists already know of!) under the assumption that dedication and time management is what's missing is a representation of blatant misunderstanding of the entire issue. The war on AI assisted art is going to be lost even faster.
Can't afford art school?
After seeing post like this 👇
And this gem 👇
As well as countless of others from the AI generator community. Just talking about how "inaccessible art" is, I decided why not show how wrong these guys are while also helping anyone who actually wants to learn.
Here is the first one ART TEACHERS! There are plenty online and in places like youtube.
📺Here is my list:
Proko (Free)
Marc Brunet (Free but he does have other classes for a cheap price. Use to work for Blizzard)
Aaron Rutten (free)
BoroCG (free)
Jesse J. Jones (free, talks about animating)
Jesus Conde (free)
Mohammed Agbadi (free, he gives some advice in some videos and talks about art)
Ross Draws (free, he does have other classes for a good price)
SamDoesArts (free, gives good advice and critiques)
Drawfee Show (free, they do give some good advice and great inspiration)
The Art of Aaron Blaise ( useful tips for digital art and animation. Was an animator for Disney)
Bobby Chiu ( useful tips and interviews with artist who are in the industry or making a living as artist)
Second part BOOKS, I have collected some books that have helped me and might help others.
📚Here is my list:
The "how to draw manga" series produced by Graphic-sha. These are for manga artist but they give great advice and information.
"Creating characters with personality" by Tom Bancroft. A great book that can help not just people who draw cartoons but also realistic ones. As it helps you with facial ques and how to make a character interesting.
"Albinus on anatomy" by Robert Beverly Hale and Terence Coyle. Great book to help someone learn basic anatomy.
"Artistic Anatomy" by Dr. Paul Richer and Robert Beverly Hale. A good book if you want to go further in-depth with anatomy.
"Directing the story" by Francis Glebas. A good book if you want to Story board or make comics.
"Animal Anatomy for Artists" by Eliot Goldfinger. A good book for if you want to draw animals or creatures.
"Constructive Anatomy: with almost 500 illustrations" by George B. Bridgman. A great book to help you block out shadows in your figures and see them in a more 3 diamantine way.
"Dynamic Anatomy: Revised and expand" by Burne Hogarth. A book that shows how to block out shapes and easily understand what you are looking out. When it comes to human subjects.
"An Atlas of animal anatomy for artist" by W. Ellenberger and H. Dittrich and H. Baum. This is another good one for people who want to draw animals or creatures.
Etherington Brothers, they make books and have a free blog with art tips.
As for Supplies, I recommend starting out cheap, buying Pencils and art paper at dollar tree or 5 below. For digital art, I recommend not starting with a screen art drawing tablet as they are more expensive.
For the Best art Tablet I recommend either Xp-pen, Bamboo or Huion. Some can range from about 40$ to the thousands.
💻As for art programs here is a list of Free to pay.
Clip Studio paint ( you can choose to pay once or sub and get updates)
Procreate ( pay once for $9.99)
Blender (for 3D modules/sculpting, ect Free)
PaintTool SAI (pay but has a 31 day free trail)
Krita (Free)
mypaint (free)
FireAlpaca (free)
Libresprite (free, for pixel art)
Those are the ones I can recall.
So do with this information as you will but as you can tell there are ways to learn how to become an artist, without breaking the bank. The only thing that might be stopping YOU from using any of these things, is YOU.
I have made time to learn to draw and many artist have too. Either in-between working two jobs or taking care of your family and a job or regular school and chores. YOU just have to take the time or use some time management, it really doesn't take long to practice for like an hour or less. YOU also don't have to do it every day, just once or three times a week is fine.
Hope this was helpful and have a great day.
#to be perfectly clear I'm not mad at people reblogging this in a nice way trying to give people resources I'm mad at the argument the post#makes outside of that#I'm probably gonna get killed for this but its wtv#posts brought to you buy a guy that knows his art is stagnating because I don't have time to do studies and life drawing (bc of work)#posts brought to you by a guy that had to stop animating for a couple months because he developed short term hand and joint pain from it#despite being physically able bodied#posts brought to you by a guy that doesnt like watching videos of youtube artists bc video format is the hardest for me to information#process (ntm that many of these channels act like theyre all knowing when theyre not)#post brought to you by a guy that hasnt been able to work on my comic in months because I dont have the fucking time. ever. and I'm mad#about it#just so you understand that I'm not some easily dunkable AI bro out for your blood#this is part of the shit I was talking about in the other post btw#anti ai#additions

okay so hear me out. how hard would it be to throw a basketball through that hoop
Læraðr seems pretty tall but like dunkable. And the 90 degree angle makes it easy to throw from behind - a basketball has a diameter of about 9.4 inches, so the hoop would have to be large enough to fit it through. Papers put the average width of a human head at approximate 5-6 inches, i'll go with the NHI and say 145 mm. (https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1597/1545-1569_1992_029_0303_agsoth_2.3.co_2?url_ver=Z39.88-2003&rfr_id=ori:rid:crossref.org&rfr_dat=cr_pub%20%200pubmed) which is about 5.7 inches.
if we take Læraðr's face as a measurement we can see it fits comfortably twice in the hoop, and a little extra. We can safely assume it is around 11 inches in diameter
Now THEORETICALLY throwing it from behind should be safest. He seems tall but not tall enough that a good jump couldn't get it in.

Issue is, if we get too close we run the risk of him pulling this shit

So we'd need a long ball threat who can throw it with a weird angle. Some Joe Milton midcourt shit like this-

Any closer and you're getting killed.
I'd say any NBA player would have a decent shot at making it provided they have some experience with 3s. It'd probably be easier if you got a football and threw it in there.
SIDENOTE: This below form seems easier to do considering he can't run away and the hoop is bigger. You'd need a good vertical maaaaybe but honestly now it's more doable.

This? This right here?
This was why he was lawful good.
Okay, so maybe the fox was asking for it this time. He was smart enough to know that tip-toeing to the side wouldn't be enough to get out of here scot-free. Also, he was technically stealing! But if you asked him, a business that wanted to run you through the wringer with strange plots made to make humor at your expense wasn't exactly a reputable one! And if, say, Sonic were here, he would've totally said to take those things and bail! Who knew where this guy even got the stuff he sells? For all the fox knew, every drop of it could be stolen!
Assumptions, assumptions. Yes, yes, he was very well aware that it was wrong to judge, he shouldn't jump to such conclusions without proper evidence. Therefore, may the court present piece number one: the sudden nap to INSTANT INSANITY was PLENTY telling of the other's character! No, he knew this guy's type. He knew it verbatim! This freakazoid was out having extended family gatherings with people like Bean the Dynamite! Bombs and all! It was a perfect match!
Which, in short, meant that he had to get out of here. He was not dealing with any Bean the Dynamite-like on his lonesome. He's not sure what's more frightening, the plausible physical damage in his near future... or the theoretical psychic damage he could accrue.
Well, no matter which was more upsetting, the former of the two options was what was currently cascading toward him from shelves on high.
So it was probably a good idea to start sprinting.
All decorum is thrown out the window. The instant the tall-standing 'store owner' started screaming, twin-tailed turbines kicked up a storm. Upon ignition, they provide more than enough thrust to force a panicked fox and his stolen goods down a right maze of aisles. Yet no matter how the utter peel-out of a start he began with, the falling maelstrom of store-bought goods. From leg warmers to sewing needles, it was becoming blatantly clear that this place sold more than just powder kegs.
And there the fox would bob and weave, shuck and dive. Briefly take to the air to maneuver around some scattering bone saws, then cut furred rotors for an abrupt drop— ripe tomatoes sail overhead with feather dusters and fishing hooks on their coattails. This is a nightmare. Where is the exit? SOMEONE GET HIM OUT OF HERE.
"Shut up! Moral compass or not, I'm not going to pay for your goods when all along you just wanted to con me into some cockamamie scheme! Who does that!? You said you were gonna glue my tails together, weirdo!" Said as an industrial-sized jug of glue splattered against the ground beside him. In the same motion, a careening cheetah-print umbrella is caught and swiftly popped open to avoid the sticky substance coating him from tip to tail. Gaia save him.
Tails.
Miles Prower.
Why did you think he wouldn't notice my boy. Why did you think logic applied to this hellhole. Of course he noticed the second you scooted over a few inches at best.
Do you know the Bugs Bunny philosophy? The way that Bugs is such a trickster god since the people he's up against are often the ones to truly start the engagement, and tend to be hostile? Therefore making his actions harsh but arguably justified? Noise was clearly about to go on and on about how he needs to find another shmuck to walk in, he can't be dealing with Sonic the Hedgehog and start some crazy event where the 7 chaos emeralds need to be found in a cohesive rp plot. Which would probably take several months given the-- Anyways.
But Tails did something Noise would do, you see. If the scenario was reversed and Tails was truly a humble vendor of bombs and Noise was the one that meandered in, yeah. He would steal those damn bombs too, despite making plenty of revenue to probably buy out the whole shop if he wanted to. Regardless if Tails threatened him or not. But this isn't that situation.
And Noise was not one to compliment someone for doing something he'd do, in situations such as these.
"OH. OKAY."
Tails. Why is the Noisey who was clearly well intentioned awkwardly talking steps back from you. With that look in its eyes that said thousands of words, but mostly 'may god have mercy on your wretched soul'.
"STEALINGK... FROM A SMALL BUISNESS." Not even small, metaphorically or literally. "MR. HERO MODE. MR MORALLY SUPERIOR. MISTER CLEARLY DID NOT GO THROUGH A HUUUUUUGE DASHBOARD EVENT. I SEE HOW IT IS, WOAG."
The Noisey already casually walked away and is out of the scene, Tails. You're on your own but at least your ankles aren't getting bitten. Yet. The comically large shelf Noise is standing on suddenly is forcibly wobbled by him as it begins to slowly creak forward, the contents on it moreso comical objects rather than bombs. But brother. It's going down. And Noise hops off as Tails tries to route out an escape, ready to formulate a plan to make this a 100 note rp.
Tails why didn't you just pay for the stuff like a polite little man. Rule of comedy dictates that this could've ended peacefully. Maybe.
#(IC.) ''Just call me Tails!''#emptyzone#((i give tails my toughest battles because i know he's my strongest warrior))#((also he's the funniest to see suffer sdftgrfdcxsz))#((rosalina just god mods out of situations and sonic plot armors his way to the top))#((but tails? mmmmmmm. //perfect// equilibrium of capable but still dunkable))

Lemon balm shortbread cookies
Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis), a commonly foraged plant in the mint family, gives a lightly herbacious, bright lemon flavor to these shortbread cookies. They have a classic, crisp, sandy shortbread texture; optional poppy seeds add crunch and a mild nutty flavor. The lemon balm and poppy seeds may be swapped out for any combination of herbs, spices, or citrus zest that your heart desires.
These cookies are subtly sweet and very dunkable, making them perfect companions to a cup of tea or coffee.

Recipe under the cut!
Patreon | Paypal | Venmo
Lemon balm has square stems and opposite leaves (two leaves per node on opposite sides of the stem). Leaves are simple (one leaf blade with no leaflets); ovate and slightly heart-shaped, with scalloped edges; slightly glossy; thin, soft, and hairy; and deeply veined. They are emerald green on the top, and a lighter greyish green on the underside. They have a lemony scent and an oily texture when crushed. Stems and petioles (leaf stalks) are covered in small standing hairs.

Ingredients:
120g (1/2 cup + 1 Tbsp) salted non-dairy margarine, softened
60g (1/3 cup) caster or granulated sugar
180g (1 1/2 cups) AP flour
1/4 cup (8.5g) minced lemon balm
1 tsp poppy seeds (optional)
Like most traditional shortbread, this recipe follows a 1:2:3 ratio of sugar:butter:flour (by weight). Any herbs, spices, citrus zest, etc. of your choosing may be added to that base.
You could replace the caster sugar with powdered sugar if you want a melt-in-your-mouth texture, rather than a typical crumbly shortbread texture.
Instructions:
Cream margarine with an electric beater for 30 seconds, until it has a whipped texture. Add lemon balm and sugar and beat for another 3 minutes or so, until a couple shades lighter in color (this means that you have incorporated enough air).
Add the flour and mix well with a wooden spoon; then press with your hands to form into a ball.
Roll the dough out into a cylinder. You can make the cylinder more regular by placing it on a piece of wax or parchment paper, then folding the parchment paper over; use a ruler or the flat of a knife to force the cylinder of dough back into the folded edge of the paper.
Wrap the dough by twisting the ends of the parchment paper around, like a candy wrapper. Chill the dough for at least an hour, to keep the cookies from spreading in the oven by allowing the flour to absorb liquid.
Using a sharp paring knife, cut the cylinder of dough into slices about 1/4" thick. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, about 1/2" apart.
Bake at 350 °F (180 °C), in the top third of your oven, for 8 to 10 minutes. For chewier cookies, bake just until the center of the top and bottom of the cookie is no longer wet-looking; for crisper ones, bake until the edges are just starting to turn a light golden color.

I hit 700 cookies eaten just before vacation, so it's time for lavender chocolate butter biscuits. I used a Kras petit buerre as the base this time, since it's plainness matches the other chocolate butter biscuits better. The chocolate here is Goodio lavender chocolate. The color doesn't match the icon but I figure matching the flavor is more important than the appearance.

I feel like I may need to get creative for the descriptions of the chocolate butter biscuits to not feel super repetetive, since the crispy texture with smoothness from the chocolate and good dunkability should be the same for all but maybe the last few. Unsurprisingly, these taste like dark chocolate and lavender. For me, lavender works okay as a fragrance but not at all as a flavor. Unfortunately, this week is starting out with a low cookie rating.

Synni. She's a groomer, but I wanna talk about something else that popped up with this entire situation.
I think JAR's video brought in a new audience to this.
Not only was JAR insanely mysoginistic and transphobic in his video (afab=/=woman, c'mon). But a lot of the people responding to his video use the r-word constantly and "autism" as an insult. They don't point out JAR's transphobia in his call with Synni and are "confused by gender".
It's important to keep in mind that the people that say this kind of stuff are not our friends nor are they exempt from criticism or skepticism.
Someone may be dunking on someone that is easily dunkable at the moment, but beware the transphobes, ableists, racists. Just because someone says how incredibly stupid JAR's video is (which, it is) doesn't mean they're a good person or trust-worthy.
BEWARE THE IDIOTS.
