This is the moment I believed Viktor has a crush on Jayce, because act 1 Viktor wouldn't have acted so shy since he was quite self-assured when he met Jayce, and especially since they knew each other for seven years now. Practically confirmed for me with the frames of Vik looking at Jayce's lips goddd..hurts when you see how Vik looks at Jayce in season 2—
He looks irritated, almost repulsed...ughh they make me feel so sick!!

(tw unreality!)
ayo new theory just dropped and bad news! the implications are cosmically horrifying
in the bulletin from time baby in book of bill, he says bill is a “danger to narrativity”, and that he risks the fourth wall. this kept bothering me. why reference the fourth wall here? why have time baby reference it? yeah the heaven page and shit is a bit meta, but thats just how bill talks, right? Well i was a fool
when you put “seven eyes” into the lost files site, this warning pops up from the oracle question mark? from journal three:

the therapese at the bottom translates to “set coords for dimension: r34lity”.
and putting r34lity into the website gives us this image:

the text below it reads they found a new home. those are “real” fucking images. the henchmaniacs are in our “reality”. the cryptids page might not have been a goof goof bit- they were “real”. (“real” meaning our reality in the book of bill sense of it but still our reality. is that tracking.)
none of the rest of the cast actually references us as a specific audience, or the fandom, or acts like we know them at all. the cast addresses everything they write to a mystery “reader” who needs to be saved from the book’s influence.
meanwhile, in the book of bill:

because bill’s not talking to a mystery “reader” who’s reading this book.
bill fucking sees us.
bill sees reality. REALITY reality. like this earth the one with alex hirsch and gravity falls the show and tiktok and shit. book of bill is a book in our reality for us the reader. (ie. there’s a reference to “they both reached for the gun” if you put gun in the website, which would only make sense if bill was sentient in this “reality” right now.) and someone is trying to get here to hide from him. maybe they’re already here.
#for folks w/ grounding issues- this is a theory about a show and is not real! ‘our reality’ is a narrative device#meant to represent the concept of bill showing up in our reality. but it’s not actually tied to reality!!#this sounds cooler in my head than i think it is#and lowkey this may be obvious to anyone w a brain but idk. something about it yall#idk alex keeps hinting to some Big Thing about book of bill we haven’t found out yet. is this? is???#so much of the meta implications of book of bill are so fascinating to me#book of bill#the book of bill#gravity falls#gravity falls theory#the book of bill theory#book of bill theory#bill cipher#shutupmac#alex hirsch#rats#lost files#this is not a website dot com#someone tell me this makes sense and is interesting to motivate me to make a book of bill video essay#unreality

*In the voice of someone who's only media experience is jjba*: Wow, getting a lot of jjba vibes from tf2
Amidst the chaos and disappointments that encompassed my last two months, I had a fun connection about two of my favorite brain rot comics - you got an immortal(ish) with a harsh backstory who spirals into obsessive hatred that ends in the stealing of their obsession's bodies and subsequently haunt those family lines and those adjacent to them for generations - and I liken the Zeppelis, who shares the Joestar's generational curse by Dio/immortal creatures in general, to the Conaghers who I also see as helpers to the Mann line Its a really cool angle to look at Engie in, who since I was 14 was my least favorite character lol, this really elevated him for me
And so if the Manns are like the Joestars, that means like, Olivia Man is the equivalent of Joseph lol which is very funny to me
#tf2#team fortress 2#tf2 engie#dell conagher#tf2 administrator#tf2 olivia mann#radigan conagher#do yall use their full names in tags?? Or just the titles#Dells is like... on equal usage of both to me so i wasnt sure lol#jjba#i guess#yknow i rambled on about this in other tags but its also noteworthy that Olivia - as a Mann descendent - also gets to break free#of the cycle of violence - I mean shell probably end that Mann tradition of overpowering and killing your own family lol#I think also- whether intentionally or not- that you could say something about the fact that shes the first GIRL born to a Mann#unless that theory about the administrator also being a Mann ever gets some more hints or a confirmation - I Think that one is a#very interesting one!! and that it also could add to Olivia being kind of like... a redemption? Of Helen? If that makes sense#Like I think it could add more emotional weight for both that Olivia gets to live out being free where Helen couldnt let go of being a Mann#Analyzing that specifically through a feminist lens/reading would be fascinating but im not very articulate lol just grasping at substance#would love to hear others thoughts on that tho - if anyone read this far lol#might just makes these tags its own posts damn

Thinking many thoughts about the fact that Ravi is a manifestation of bucks abandonment issues - in that he is essentially the ghost of Daniel - who always appears in the firehouse at moments when bucks abandonment issues are at their most pronounced.
Ravi first appears the episode after Buck finds out about Daniel in season 4 and has popped up at every critical point since - the sniper arc in 4 - at the moment when Buck is facing the possibility of losing Eddie.
He is there pretty much all the way through season 5 when Buck was facing Maddie being gone and then when Maddie returns, with Eddie leaving the 118 and breaking down.
In season 5 (defend in place) we also found out about him surviving childhood cancer and the parallels to Daniel become very obvious.
Then in season 6 he pops back up in the aftermath of bucks coma - when he’s wrestling with his own mortality and with the ghost of Daniel from his coma.
Then in season 7 he pops up during bucks bi arc - when buck is fearing Eddie’s abandonment (and his jealousy) because he’s hanging out with Tommy. Then he appears at the end of the season when Bobby is in hospital having had a heart attack. A representation of bucks fears around losing Bobby.
And now he’s turning up in season 8 when Eddie is going to be gone and buck is really having to face all of his abandonment issues - with Maddie being kidnapped, Eddie and Chris being gone and the end of his first queer relationship.
So Ravi seems to represent Bucks fears and issues rising to the surface - being consciously present and there for Buck to actually address. With Ravi disappearing again when Buck manages to rebury or repress them.
#it’s fascinating story telling - and makes Ravi even more interesting#especially when you think about buck terrifying him with chainsaws - representing Buck literally trying to hack up his problems#which is not an effective way of dealing with them at all#but we’ve also seen Buck grow as he’s worked with and got to know Ravi#the appearing in jinx was a stroke of genius tbh - the concept of jinx is cursed and buck is no longer in the dark#he is cursed with the knowledge of having had a brother - of being a saviour baby that failed.#so while he has a better understanding of why he had the childhood he did - now he actually has to reconcile with that.#can’t wait to see what the Buck-Ravi dynamic is going to be this time - with buck reaching the point of actually understanding and dealing#with his abandonment issues - because in theory their dynamic will adapt and change to represent this - especially when he realises his#feelings for Eddie!!#911 spoilers#eddie diaz#911 abc#evan buckley#ravi panikkar#buddie#911 thoughts

Theory: LX intended for CXS to dive to save LG
Preface and disclaimer: this is kind of an out-there theory; more a few loose thoughts that I found interesting to think on - I fully expect that some or all of this will turn out to be totally wrong. Link Click loves showing us scenes only to later have them be revealed as either a) shown out of order, or b) recontextualized by further info we weren't initially privy to. I fully expect this will be the case in s3.
For now though, concerning Cheng Xiaoshi's death, Yingdu arc is what we have to work with. And there's a particular scene that really, really bothers me: the very opening confrontation against Vein.
(Actually, there's a lot that bothers me. There are multiple timeline inconsistencies that can't simply be explained by animation error - the most egregious is CXS figuring out his powers by diving alone when he had to figure that out in s1, well after the point many timeline changes had already occurred that would directly lead to the events of s2, our current timeline. It makes my head hurt. That's why this post is not about the inconsistencies, even though it bothers me that I cannot come up with a good explanation for this atm. My best guess is that multiple possibilities or potentials are collapsing in on a singular timeline due to LX, SYY and/or LG's actions but I really don't know. Whatever. On with the theory.)
Let's start with a key assumption. If this assumption is proven to be wrong later, then the theory very much falls apart, but I feel fairly confident about this for now.
Assumption: CXS's death scene from Yingdu episode 1 is the original timeline, as is the dive back to the basketball court.
The reason I think this is from both a narrative standpoint and a character one. From a narrative standpoint, it makes sense to show us either the first timeline or the most recent one after s2's cliffhanger ending. These are the timelines that actually have consequences for our story. Here, we see a lot of focus given to the transfer of Cheng Xiaoshi's power, and his dying request of Lu Guang. This dying request, to save everyone, is referenced in a later nightmare sequence, where Lu Guang is reminded that everyone has died. I don't think it makes much sense to focus on Cheng Xiaoshi's final words in a repeated timeline, unless they were framed as something Lu Guang has clearly heard before, which, they weren't.
Which brings me to the main reason I believe this is the original timeline: Lu Guang's reaction.
He's in shock for much of the events here - doesn't look at all like he knows or knew what was about to happen. If this wasn't the original timeline, I would expect him to look more desperate and sad than shocked. His reaction after diving also doesn't make much sense to me if this isn't the first dive he's attempted. Again, I'd expect him to look more haunted and sullen if this is a repeat. Instead, he looks around at his clothes and at his surroundings for a bit before getting hit by the ball, sees Cheng Xiaoshi, gasps and immediately tears up. <- Not the reaction I'd expect from a man used to diving.
Hopefully, you either agree with me or can at least suspend your disbelief enough to hear me out.
Let's go over what's odd about the initial Vein confrontation, yes?
Vein never actually shoots or even aims at Cheng Xiaoshi
"This is the punishment for you changing the past."
Vein doesn't finish off Lu Guang afterwards
Point 1: Vein knocks Cheng Xiaoshi back and twirls his gun. A few seconds pass in which Vein does not aim at Cheng Xiaoshi at all, just stands there, maybe to make sure he stays down. Lu Guang rounds the corner and Vein immediately fires a shot at him.
If Vein wanted to kill Cheng Xiaoshi, he could've already done it here. He's fast. He fired that shot at Lu Guang in a split second. The implication here is that Cheng Xiaoshi was not the target - the target was Lu Guang.
Point 2: Vein tells Lu Guang that his actions are punishment for changing the past. If we go by the assumption that this is the original timeline, this... doesn't make much sense. Lu Guang doesn't have the power to change the past without Cheng Xiaoshi's ability. It suggests that Vein is not after them here because of Lu Guang's attempt(s) to save Cheng Xiaoshi, but for some other deviation.
Conclusion? This is a shared punishment. In the original timeline, it seems very likely that Lu Guang and Cheng Xiaoshi made some kind of change, or changes, to the past. <- This may actually explain why Lu Guang in the current timeline is so adamant about Cheng Xiaoshi not changing anything.
It is possible that the combination of their powers resulted in some kind of significant deviation, or else that they were mistaken for or had the blame pinned on them for someone else's actions. Either way, Vein seems to only gun for one of them, but it's not the one I'd expect.
After all, if this is a punishment for changing the timeline (and presumably, you wouldn't want them changing anything else), why wouldn't you shoot the guy who actually... makes the changes? Why try to shoot Lu Guang?
Well... maybe you would if you actually wanted the exact opposite outcome.
Vein misses Lu Guang several times in this scene. It's a little strange, given that he's been backed into a corner and his attempt to fight back does him no good at all. You can see in his fight against Shao Yuanyuan/Wang Qing in episode 6 that he does have good aim and is actually fairly efficient with his objectives. You could say he's toying with him, and maybe so! Vein clearly loves a good fight. Much like Liu Xiao, he has the vibe of a "hunter". But Vein also is stated to have a certain set of principles. To me, it feels like he's putting on a show.
This brings me back to the main question: why didn't he try to shoot Cheng Xiaoshi? Why kill everyone connected with them and attempt to kill Lu Guang, ostensibly as "punishment", when Cheng Xiaoshi is the one who can actually dive?
Point 3: Lu Guang helps Cheng Xiaoshi into the darkroom and locks the door. Vein fires a shot but then just kind of... stands there, grimacing. He doesn't even try to break the door down, which I'm sure he easily could. <-This is the weirdest part of the scene.
I don't think this was supposed to happen. I don't think Cheng Xiaoshi was intended to take that bullet.
I think Vein put on that show, wanting Cheng Xiaoshi to see him shoot Lu Guang. I don't think Vein expected Cheng Xiaoshi to dive in front and die.
You could say that Vein just decided to wait outside for Lu Guang to come out instead of exerting energy, but that's strange because in the time afterwards, from 23:11 on September 12th when they stumbled into the darkroom to just a little before 00:05 on September 13th when he leaves, Lu Guang gets injured, but is left alive, and Vein is nowhere to be seen. There is absolutely no way Lu Guang was able to fend off Vein, and the only other possible sign of a continued skirmish is more blood on the photo and its positioning (this could be an animation error, truthfully - everything else in the scene is the same as before - but if it is an error then that helps my point even more - there are no further signs of struggle).
The police didn't arrive and force Vein to leave. The implication is Vein left Lu Guang alive after waiting patiently outside the door for him to come out. Why? Why wait?
Well, one possible explanation: he didn't want to interrupt the power transfer.
Think about it. Why leave one alive, but kill everyone else? If it was to avoid them making changes, only one of the pair with the actual powers needs to die. Not everyone connected to them. This situation seems explicitly orchestrated to make it so Cheng Xiaoshi cannot resist diving back. I suspect he was already intending to - if you look at the scene where Lu Guang glances down at the shattered photo, his breath hitches - I suspect Qiao Ling is already dead and they know that.
Cheng Xiaoshi's last request is to save everyone, since he is now unable to - he cannot take the shot himself, so he passes the ball to the person he trusts most. And I think this was the goal all along. In a situation like this, how could he not try to save them? Especially if, as I suspect, the rules regarding past and future weren't made quite as strict in this timeline as they are in the current one.
Except this didn't go quite according to plan, because in epic Cheng Xiaoshi fashion, he did something that wasn't anticipated and died in Lu Guang's stead. Not ideal, clearly, from Vein's reaction, but it doesn't actually matter.
All that matters is that one of them dives back. The outcome is the same.
Why kill everyone, but leave one alive, and with a power that will allow them and inevitably tempt them to try to save their loved ones? The most obvious answer is if this is exactly the outcome you wanted.
--
Now, why do I say Liu Xiao intended this if the main actor here was Vein? Well, for one, Vein doesn't seem aware in Yingdu arc of changes to the timeline, except in this scene. Needless to say, he is definitely not privy to Lu Guang having future knowledge - Lu Guang is suspicious to him, but it does not seem to occur to Vein that he could be from the future. This information likely comes from Liu Xiao, who Vein works with during the arc to obtain Cheng Weimin's book and who unzips his body bag at the end of the season. Out of anyone who could've orchestrated this, our favourite puppeteer manipulator is the most likely candidate.
I won't claim to know what's going on with Liu Xiao, nor what his goals actually are, but I suspect he has at least some future knowledge or is somehow able to catch glimpses of parallel lines. He comes across as much older in the flashbacks with him and Li Tianchen as children. There is an odd bit in Yingdu episode 2 during the roulette scene where there is a flash to the gun killing him. Metaphor or vision? It's hard to say.
Interestingly, in the Bridon pv, Liu Xiao looks back at Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang in the airport and smiles but does not approach them. Lu Guang even mentions that they didn't run into Liu Xiao in the past timeline.
At the end of episode 1, in the current timeline, Liu Xiao says "Finally, we can start the game." It implies that all the pieces are finally in place. This may be why he approaches Cheng Xiaoshi in the airport and asked Xia Fei to trail him, expecting him to have dived back from the future.
I suspect his knowledge isn't perfect. Liu Xiao is a gambler. He's not like Lu Guang, who needs to have perfect control and anticipate every outcome. He wasn't really paying much attention to Lu Guang at all until he noticed something strange - ostensibly his heartbeat. Again, I suspect the person he intended to have dive was Cheng Xiaoshi. Lu Guang was not expected - but he can still work with this, and clearly does, because at no point does it seem like any of Lu Guang's actions or knowledge disrupted his plans. Instead, it seems like everything is going smoothly because of his actions.
Everything Lu Guang does, including his decision to stall Vein and try to get him killed, seems to work out in Liu Xiao's favour. I suspect, inadvertently, that Lu Guang is doing exactly what he wants him to. Lu Guang's only real moment of "masterminding" is therefore implied to have been anticipated. Liu Xiao smiles when Xia Fei receives the call about Vein's "death", as if he knew.
"You might have seen something interesting."
It checks out. This frame from Train Trail during his verse says "the puppets are standing" over everyone's silhouettes - including Lu Guang. Lu Guang is also frequently shown as either trapped or drowning in official art and in Yingdu - if he was intended to be a mastermind on equal footing with Liu Xiao, I really don't think we'd see so much of his feelings of helplessness, nor his repeated assertions that he essentially has no idea what he's doing and doesn't actually expect the outcome to change. Liu Xiao doesn't seem to have any such compunctions or concerns in this sense.
If Lu Guang does turn out to have been essentially manipulated into this situation, it would follow a particular pattern seen in Link Click. There are characters who enact control over others but are ultimately being puppeteered or manipulated (Liu Min trying to control what is said about him comes to mind, as does Li Tianchen's literal control, to an extent), as well as characters who, through desperation and/or love, and the limited options available to them in their shitty situations, become complicit in something immoral and suffer for it (Emma taking the money from Zhu, Li Tianxi being the other half of the remote control, Vivian becoming a scammer). If Liu Xiao really did orchestrate Lu Guang's dive, then Lu Guang would follow both these patterns, as a puppet with the power of future knowledge that can (and perhaps has) hurt others, and as a victim who made a desperate choice and is now trapped by its consequences.
One last bit of evidence - this time explicitly about Liu Xiao.
^Everyone is familiar with 091305 by now. September 13th at 12:05 am. The date and time Lu Guang dived back from. However, something interesting here: the year is blurred out.
Moreover, I see people say sometimes that this is Cheng Xiaoshi's death date - it isn't. Remember the time from when they were in the darkroom? Cheng Xiaoshi's death occurred on September 12th, just a little past 11:11 pm.
Here's one last fun thing before I close out this post:
Liu Xiao, why does the date on your Tetris game-over say September 12th, 2024 when Yingdu arc takes place in 2019? I wonder whose game-over this could be?
#here. please read this i spent hours on it#liu xiao is so... fascinating. what do you want hat man? what's your goal here???#i'm so psyched to see where he and shao yuanyuan go as characters. three people meddling with the timeline now. damn#storyrambles#link click#link click theory#sgdlr#liu xiao#lu guang#cheng xiaoshi#vein#xiao weiying#forgot my analysis tag!!!#call me ace detective the way i am ace. and also a detective

Monstrosity in Teen Wolf
Hybridity Is the New Metamorphosis by Harvey L. Hix / Skin Shows: Gothic Horror and the Technology of Monsters by Judith Halberstam / Monstrosity: The Human Monster in Visual Culture by Alexa Wright
Written for @teenwolf-meta‘s Meta May Monday theme: beast
Monstrosity and what, precisely, makes a monster is a topic that is discussed both within the text and the larger narrative of Teen Wolf. The most direct mention of monsters vs monstrosity is in *Monstrous* when Lydia tells Meredith “Not all monsters do monstrous things” referring here to Scott, which Meredith then flips back onto Lydia herself. It’s obvious to see here that the show makes a clear differentiation between what it means to be a monster and what it means to be monstrous. To be a monster means to be something unnatural it’s particularly about the outward facing part of a person, this is mainly seen with the shapeshifters who undergo a physical transformation which marks them as something different than humans, but Meredith referring to Lydia as a monster means that it’s not only the physical attributes which makes someone a monster. Being a monster is less about what you are and more about what you aren’t. Once you’re no longer able to be comfortably placed within the category of human you are a monster. This form of monster isn’t a negative attribute though, it’s a neutral one. It simply describes that the person is not a human.
Acting monstrous is a negative attribute within the show, humans and monsters alike can act monstrous. Monstrosity is therefore not a description of person but instead a description of character. One of the most potent examples of this is in *Fury* where the viewer sees three different factions of characters. Matt is a human so he is per definition not a monster but he is a monstrous human, he stalks Allison and has spent the season carrying out his revenge plan by taking away Jackson’s autonomy and forcing him to kill people. The werewolves on the other hand are monsters who aren’t monstrous, at least to the viewer, they, particularly Scott, are trying to find a way to catch Matt without having to kill him or Jackson. It’s interesting to consider that the Argents, hunters who have always equated monster to monstrosity, have become even more radical after the death of Victoria, despite Matt’s actions he isn’t their primary target when they enter the police station, Derek is. Because, to them Derek killed Victoria by biting her and turning her into a monster just as he is. Matt is an afterthought, he’s the loose end they will deal with afterwards. The Argents therefore has the opposite understanding of the situation than the viewer does.
Humanity is also an important topic within the show, humanity is something fallible. In *Lies of Omission* the scene at the end with Scott and Stiles in the rain serves as an important look into the characters’ and particularly Stiles’ understanding of what it means to be human. When he says to Scott “Some of us are human” it’s a vocalization of the idea that to be human is to make mistakes and that humanity makes a person incapable of always doing right. As opposed to the in-humanity that comes from being incapable of erring. It is preceded by Stiles saying “Not all of us can be true alphas”, throughout this conversation, and even the entire season, Stiles has started categorizing Scott as something other than human capable of humanity, it’s not the monstrous monster previously mentioned either, it’s a third category of non-human. The true alpha isn’t monstrous but he isn’t human either. To Stiles Scott has become a sort of mythologized character who always does the right thing instead of being a real person who’s standing in front of him.

WE ARE ALL OF US FOOLS. Mercy's hair isn't pink or strawberry blonde or rose gold or ginger or auburn or any of the options we usually consider.
You noticed the colours first, beneath that harsh and unlovely light: that the hair was a dead flower or apricot colour, and that the skin and lips and brows were of a similar hue, so that beneath the nacreous cowl the saint looked like a painting with a very limited palette; and the eyes …
But the Emperor wrapped his arms around his Lyctor as though she were a precious and runaway child; he pressed her to him, drawing down the hood and tousling that overripe rose-tinted hair, heedless of the curtseying, bowing Cohort officers in the wake of his passage.
Your eldest sister, looking distinctly green around the gills and checking long strands of her overripe-rose hair for globs, had also risen—but the Emperor said, “You. Stay,” and she froze.
Her prismatically white Canaanite robe was wrapped very tightly around her, as though she were cold, and she had bound back her peach-coloured hair as though it were a wimple.
Mercy had it worst: the knot of hair at her neck had come down, and now was springing loose in pale, rose-gold strands, and she was actually sniggering.
The Lyctor at his left was combing out her hair—it tumbled in a heavy mass around her shoulders, that curious heart-of-a-yellow-rose colour, that pinkish, reddish, goldenish shade that was not entirely appealing.
She stood there with her shoulders heaving and her hand pressed over her face, pinky-reddish hair coming out of her braid, looking unhurt but pretty sorry for herself.
And she cocked her flower-coloured head to the side so that her sweaty hair fell over her face, in that sizzling, gulping heat, and she stared at us,
At one point, she threw her head back as though she were going to yell aloud, and that weird-hued hair shivered over her back.
The collapsed body on the floor, Mercymorn’s hair tumbling close to his feet in rosy, bloodied tangles.

It's not any of these colors.
It's all of them.
A lot of us already accept that she's using flesh magic to make it an unnatural colour. I propose one step further: It's literally changing slightly every scene, sometimes even mid-scene. Sometimes it's multiple colours at once, in ombres or streaks. Occasionally it's a colour unknown to mortal eyes that only Lyctors can see, the one Gideon describes as just "weird".

ancient greece had some weird notions of the female going on. like what do you mean the innermost nature of women is the concealment of their nature? what is pandora an imitation of? if women are by nature deceptive, do they in fact reveal the truth of what they are in using their bodies to deceive? can you cover covering itself?
#ran into these roadblocks the last two times ive talked with my advisor#like. what does it mean when a woman adorns herself???? dead end. changing the subject!#pretty sure this* is a turtles all the way down situation. or an ogres-are-like-onions situation#*this (women)#absolutely FASCINATED by the potential implication that the core essence of womanhood is to lack a core essence.#so now i probably need to read gender theory#bodycostume#mine

hey hold on ed
why are you after rui's tears
as far as i'm aware, 'reaper tears' aren't really a thing i can find in any folktales, although tears are often used as an important healing thing (see pokemon the first movie)
now this may be a reach, but phoenix tears are considered to be extremely healing. rui's stigma is a healing stigma, his tarot card was death, and a lot of his flowers had to do with remembrance, 'get well soon', and were yellow and orange. he can heal people with his stigma and also kill them with his curse. phoenixes were symbols of cycles and rebirth, dying and being born again from the ashes, and their tears were said to be able to cure any ailment including petrification.
what is ed trying to cure?

what is your theory on why the white palace is filled with buzz saws and thorns? i have my own perspective of it and i want to know what other people think ^^
While the jokes about the king spending the kingdoms' funds on buzzsaws are pretty funny,
I don't think the palace was so filled with deadly obstacles in reality.
My theory is that, being in the dream realm the palace was altered by the king's desires/regrets. Either consciously or subconsciously.
In the dream realm, the entire palace is an obstacle course that guards the king's corpse and kingsoul charm. That's obvious out-of-universe, a feature of the game-play. But I like to believe that in-universe it was reconstructed for that exact purpose, too.
The king hid himself away, very much with the intention of staying hidden. And transformed his palace into his personal guard to keep anyone from reaching him.
I do believe that within the real palace, the training grounds contained similar obstacles. But the main palace was probably only guarded by gates and kingsmoulds.
There are a lot of things about the palace in the dream realm that I believe differ from the actual palace that no longer exists.
The entrance to the workshop, for example.
Or the entire nursery room. My theory is that the nursery never existed, and its presence within the dream is to symbolize how important his child and his wife were to him and how deeply he regrets what became of his family.
The path of pain, too, obviously exists only within the dream and is symbolic of his excruciating regret surrounding his relationship with his child.
So yes, imo the buzzsaws and thorns were created within and by the kings mind and are there for the exact reason that they are there from a game-play perspective.
To hide away what remains of the old king.
The king left the world, having failed so completely, having lost his kingdom, his knights, the dreamers, his wife, and his child. Unintentionally condemning his child whom he loved to an eternity of suffering. Having sacrificed millions of others for a hopeless cause.
Of course his final moments were spent running, hiding, completely removing himself from the mortal world, determined to erase himself. The amount of regret and shame that must have been killing him.
And the palace reflects that.
If you're wondering why the obstacles included buzzsaws and thorns specifically,
Again, those likely did exist in reality, just within the training grounds, as obstacles to improve the knights skills.
The thorns specifically were likely products of the white lady. It's clear that she had a great influence on the palace herself.
Still within the dream realm, the amount of thorns was certainly exaggerated by the king's consciousness.
I'm rambling a bit, so I'll finish off my response here.
Ultimately I believe that the white palace in the dream realm is not an accurate representation of what it was like in the mortal world, rather, an extension of the king himself, and greatly affected by his state of mind at the time he hid himself there.
And as always, I'm interested in other people's interpretations. Anyone is free to share their theories with me anytime!
Thanks for the ask <3

something interesting i realized while on the vessel-making screen in the deltarune introduction is that it's physically impossible to make kris: there is no hair that perfectly matches theirs (none have the cowlick or the right jagged shape on the bottom), and there is no sweater that perfectly matches theirs (none have a single stripe). this is fascinating, as it perhaps suggest that, if we (the player) had a choice, we *wouldn't* make kris. they aren't something we want, or are even capable of wanting, rather something we're stuck with.
and i suppose the fact that they can't be *created* as a vessel is telling, because we didn't create kris -- they weren't made for us, they're not a player avatar. they're a pre-existing person we just happen to gain possession of.
we weren't made for each other; they don't want us, and we don't seem to want them either (if the inability to choose to create someone like them says anything); funny, then, that in a way we're "soulmates"...
(both pictures are from the deltarune wiki!)
#melonposting#deltarune#deltarune kris#kris dreemurr#deltarune analysis#deltarune theory#kris is such a fascinating person. i want to study them under a microscope#we make them do things they otherwise wouldn't: wonderful things. horrible things.#at the end of the day who will kris be if their actions have been almost entirely us?#what responsibility will they hold for the manipulation and violence we've made them perform?#or what connection will they truly have to the friends we've directed them to make and the good times we've forced them to have?#this is just a random kid at a hard point in their life suddenly directed by an omniscient god with an indecipherable moral compass#kris and the player meant nothing to each other before - but now we hold kris' fate in our hands. we mean everything to them in a sense#and now as we play this game and are compelled by its story - including the things we have kris do - does kris not hold our fate as well?#do they not mean everything to us? (they mean everything to me anyway)#god this game kills me a little bit. god i love it so much

cant explain it but Akilah surviving the season at all (and that vision where she gets back to camp and everyones gone) has me absolutely fixated on the idea that she got left behind when they were rescued. like shes pretty untethered from the group now for multiple reasons, maybe she continues to maintain a distance in some way. i could see it being possible that someone got left there, depending on the circumstances. that she could still be there. how she wouldn't have been found in 25 years tho... thats a whole other question.
#akilah yellowjackets#would be kind of fascinating to see what that could look like#yellowjackets#yj thoughts#yj theories#yj spoilers

Now truth is just another part of the supply/demand market. Whatever truth you want, you can find someone who will sell it to you.
