OWEN AND HIS RAMBLINGS ABOUT AN AU HE INFLICTED UPON HIMSELF / noah lightfoot things. / under a cut for length

-> in the few years of childhood where he had a father figure, struan, nicolas and nadine's father, was nothing but kind to the son who wasn't his. understanding that neither the boy nor his mother chose for him to be in the world the way he was brought into it. though, he did have a hard time truly accepting young noah into the family, there would be talks of legitimizing noah as a full member of the abernacky household and letting him take the family name as his own, but it was only ever just talk. still, noah does not fault the man for that, for struan could've easily cast noah out onto the streets to fend for himself or to die and nobody would bat an eyelash, but he didn't. he let noah stay under his roof, raised him as his own, read stories to all three children by the fire whenever he was home and even made some speculations for the boy's future, telling both of clara's sons that one day, should they choose it, struan would teach them the ways of living at sea, should they decide to follow in their father's footsteps.

-> noah is VERY protective of both of his siblings, even in adulthood when neither of them have any true idea where any of them are. on the rare occasion they recieve letters from each other, replies are sent out with an almost excitable haste. noah knows that nicolas is living a good, honest life now, with a family of his own and a solid roof over their heads and chooses to keep his distance out of wanting to keep them safe from any dangers that noah and his reputation may bring them, nadine however, wanders freely through the lands, only ever sending word of her whereabouts if she had discovered something she thinks her brothers would find interesting. she is aware that, since she left the care of the underground men, noah has been trying to keep tabs on her, but she has the same skills and insight as he does and knows how to keep herself from being found.

-> i know i keep saying that. under no circumstances are we to give noah a child and make him be a parent.. however, condoms don't exist and he's still very much a whore. no, i could not think of a better way to word that. however, given that noah was abandoned by his true father and left to rot in the dirt once the parents he'd known had died, once he heard tale that one of his previous nightly companions was now bearing his child, he let it be known that should she decide to keep the child, he would take them into his care and raise them. and now noah has a daughter and her name is ayla, she's the spitting image of her mother, but she has noah's eyes.

-> speaking of noah's eyes. he's got hetrochromia in this version, one eye is blue like it is in his other verses, but the other is green, and not a subtle shade of green wherein you wouldn't notice it's a different colour unless you really look. one pale blue eye and one dark emerald green eye, the only thing, other than life, that his lord of a father left for him. the single green eye makes his heritage obvious to the people within his father's ruling territory and not wanting to bring any unwelcome attention that would be drawn in by the fact that the leader of the underground men is actually the bastard of a man who has a seat on the king's counsel, he typically wears a mask when he's out and about. ayla has the same condition, but in the opposite eyes to her father.

-> not much of a fighter honestly. not saying he can't handle a sword, but he's a lot better at talking than he is with a weapon. though he does have weapons he is very skilled with and those are, of course, things he can use from a distance such as his trusty crossbow, sometimes just an actual bow, and daggers, not too keen on using the last ones for throwing quite yet. he may also have some light, light magical prowess but i am not yet sure i want to go ahead with that idea. i think he's powerful enough with his gang of thieves and his dog.

-> his dog, chicken, did not have a true name for a while there. he was a scrappy little creature noah found on the streets while working one night and having felt pity enough to give it some food, noah did not take a lot more convincing to bring the dog back home with him. he'd call it by either whistling, the reliable 'here, boy.' or just referring to it as 'dog.' ayla was the one who named the dog in what noah can only assume to be a case of mistaken identity as she was barely learning how to speak and pointed to the animal, loudly and happily proclaiming 'chicken!!' noah and the underground men found this amusing enough that they started referring to the dog by the same name, and now it only answers to 'chicken.'

-> 'lightfoot' was a nickname given to noah by leaf once the man had seen and understood just how sneaky this little fella he'd brought in could really be. it was a lighthearted joke of course, but as noah did not have his own last name, he decided to keep the nickname as his surname, and that's how we got noah lightfoot. because he cannot have a second name of his own in any verse apparently, someone has to give him one.

-> he's a lot more.. colder, than his normal counterpart. or, that's how he presents himself anyway. he's got to act cold and rational for the sake of leading the underground men, and honestly he is a little bit more emotionally detached than the spaceman but there IS a well meaning, heart of gold underneath that mask and cloak of his. the smallfolk near his settlement can attest to that somewhat, as he is known to leave offerings and gifts of good fortune to those less fortunate than he, in the form of bags of gold left at doorsteps, deliveries of food, and just offering to help build or rebuild parts of the villages and towns after flooding or something equally as destructive. or if you just need help fixing a hole in your roof. an underground man might help you out for free.. anyways yeah. the kindess is not in his tone or how he conveys himself, but in the actions and small deeds he does for others.
