FictionJunction Radio vol.#22 ~ About Kalafina's Reunion and Yuki's Official Statement

A couple of days ago, Yuki announced that there would be a new FJS Radio broadcast coming up soon so fan club members were asked to submit questions. It was all done in quite a rush and fans only had one day to send their messages. Obviously, everyone (including myself) was thinking that Yuki would use that opportunity to do some further "damage control" after her official statement regarding Kalafina's reunion concert went viral and caused quite a lot of turmoil among fans. HERE's my translation of her statement. It reflects pretty badly not only on the organisers of the event but also the members of Kalafina which has led to many fans seeing this project as a sort of betrayal from Wakana, Keiko and Hikaru. It has since been very quiet on the social media front and there have been no updates from either Keiko or Hikaru.

Today, the new radio episode was posted on the fan club site and yes, Yuki is dedicating a large portion of it to this topic. Bless her! The latest mail magazine also includes a brief message from Yuki Kajiura. I'll go through some of the important parts of that before I tackle the broadcast. Please note that I will not be providing full translations. This will be more of a round-up of all the highlights.

Regarding the statement I posted on X the other day (I apologise to those who have not seen the post. A proper explanation is provided on the radio broadcast.) I tried my best to convey everything to FJS members as honestly as possible. This is a decision I made after much deliberation, I was worried about whether or not I could be causing further distress by repeating all of it again. It goes without saying that everything I am talking about in the broadcast is true, but to be honest, there were some questions that I intentionally chose not to address. However, this was not because of "adult matters" but because I wanted to avoid hurting anyone more than necessary, so I hope you will understand.

I think I've said everything I wanted and felt like I needed to say about this matter on the radio episode. I'm grateful that so many wonderful musicians and singers have been involved in the music I've created up until now. Even if we are not always on the same stage, I always hope that each and every one of them will continue to make music in a bright, fun, interesting, and cheerful way, in their own way and on the path they have chosen.

At around 24:00, Yuki starts talking about all the questions she has received regarding her statement in response to the Kalafina Reunion Live announcement. Yuki appreciates that everyone was very careful/kind in their phrasing and clearly tried to not step on her toes. To clear up some confusion and in order to answer a few questions, Yuki is doing a more in-depth discussion of the situation. Initially, she just wanted to write a short text for the fan club mail magazine but she didn't feel like it was enough so it ended up becoming a main topic of the radio episode. This way, it was easier to eliminate uncertainties. 

When she first saw the announcement, her reaction was to ask herself "why??". She was basically in shock. After all, she had not been informed of the project so it was complete news to her. Soon after, it got very awkward for her when she started to receive a lot of inquiries and messages of fans congratulating her on Kalafina's comeback. Naturally, this made her feel very uncomfortable since she had nothing to do with it. Additionally, there was some confusion among fans about the extent of Yuki's involvement because the official announcement from Kalafina Staff did not mention her name at all but both Keiko and Hikaru mentioned her in their statements. For these reasons, Yuki felt like she had no choice but to make her own statement in order to clarify a few things.

She still does not know all the details, for example the exact reasons behind the secrecy and why the members were not able to talk about this to her in advance. Or if this is going to be a one-time thing or if Kalafina will resume their activities.

Yuki says that her statement might have been perceived as quite "angry" because of her usage of certain "strict" phrases (like Kalafina-san, ございます/gozaimasu", etc) but she wants to clarify that she is really not the type to be angry, it was more a sense of shock that made her write like this and the fact that she wanted to stick to very precise/formal language in this "official statement". She wasn't angry or trying to scold anyone. The main focus was actually supposed to be on the latter half of her statement but due to her phrasing, everyone was focusing on that first part (to a point where people were starting to draw false conclusions). She thinks that even the Kalafina members themselves must have been quite taken aback when they read the statement. It was never her intention to create so much backlash for the project/the Kalafina members and she doesn’t approve of it. To avoid further misunderstandings, she posted some follow-up tweets and ultimately decided to record the radio episode. Yuki wants us to know that the sentiment she was trying to convey was fundamentally positive. She does wish the members of Kalafina all the best and she knows that they will do an amazing job. She repeats this several times.

Of course she would have wanted to do a live concert together with Kalafina, it was always a dream she pursued and something she had discussed with Keiko and Hikaru during their activities together. But there were a lot of hurdles and it was going to take a long time. There was no way of knowing if it was ever going to happen (especially with Wakana still being signed under Space Craft) so she completely understands that the girls would look at different options just to somehow make this concert happen. They were undoubtedly presented with a good opportunity so it would have been unwise of them to not take that chance, especially since it offered a faster solution. With an appealing offer like that, it's only natural that the Kalafina members would have agreed to the project. Despite feeling sad, Yuki knows that sometimes things like this happen in life. When things don't work out one way, you need to try other options. She doesn't fault the members for going down a different path. In fact, she wishes nothing but luck to the girls. She supports them all the way and highlights their splendor as singers (especially Keiko who she admires for her discipline). They all continue to have a good relationship and Yuki will always see them as her "music nakamas".

She is also looking forward to working with Keiko and Hikaru in the upcoming Asia tour. She is sure they will have fun together so there is no need to worry. The same applies for the summer tour next year.

Yuki then goes on to talk a bit about Satoshi Takebe who she highly respects as "senior/senpai". He actually reached out to Yuki after this whole debacle and they talked about how he kinda ended up bearing the brunt of fan hatred which Yuki found very uncalled-for. She is sure he will do a great job as music director for the concert. And it's not a matter of him stepping in to replace her as producer because his role as music director is not the same as what Yuki did in her role as producer. He is just doing his job. And he always wants to do the best he can so he will make sure to make Yuki's music shine.

Last but not least, Yuki actually addresses the infamous BLOG that I wrote about HERE. She read through it and she wants us to know that all the "supposed facts" are fabrications, complete fantasies, especially all the conspiracy theories regarding Sony wanting to get rid of her and trying to control her.

All right, this was really insightful. Love that Yuki is pretty frank. I think this is her basically clearing up the tension and offering an olive branch to the members of Kalafina (and Satoshi Takebe). She is putting out all the stops to convey a positive message and she is using every opportunity to hype up this project. Her fondness for the girls is also very apparent, she uses the chan suffix almost all the time when she refers to them and she praises them frequently throughout the entire episode. So there is no doubt that they are still on good terms with each other. There has been no falling out or anything!

Now is honestly the best time for the three of them to become active on social media again and release some genuine and heartfelt statement. I feel like this is the only way to salvage this current disaster of a situation. I mean, they can't let this drag on forever. I am actually a little sad that it seems like the girls haven't already talked the whole thing through with Yuki but now is their chance.

They all have events and concerts coming up and the general lottery for the reunion live is about to start soon so they need to come out of their hiding place asap.

As exportações de carne de aves e subprodutos de origem brasileira estão suspensas para o Uruguai e para o Chile, após o primeiro caso confirmado de gripe aviária em uma granja comercial no Rio Grande do Sul, na última sexta-feira (16).

Além desses lugares, a China, a Argentina e a União Europeia já haviam suspendido a importação desses produtos vindos do Brasil.

A granja fica no município de Montenegro, na região metropolitana de Porto Alegre, e está isolada desde que o caso foi confirmado. As aves foram eliminadas e uma investigação ao redor da região será realizada, conforme informou o Ministério da Agricultura e Pecuária.

O secretário de Comércio e Relações Internacionais do Ministério da Agricultura, Luis Rua, informou, em entrevista ao Estadão, que praticamente todos os 150 países que recebem aves e produtos derivados foram notificados sobre o caso confirmado no Rio Grande do Sul.

A União Europeia informou que esperava a pausa na certificação dos embarques feitos pelo Brasil em relação a esses produtos, que poderiam sofrer algum tipo de contaminação.

A China, um dos principais compradores de frango brasileiro, segue um protocolo de suspensão imediata com o país em casos de contaminação como o da gripe aviária.

É possível que acordos com outros países, como a Coreia do Sul, o México e a Rússia, exijam alguma restrição em relação às exportações do Brasil. No entanto, o secretário ressaltou que as suspensões são temporárias e não de caráter definitivo.

Podem ocorrer embargos regionais, ou seja, somente a região afetada, nesse caso o Rio Grande do Sul, teria algum tipo de embargo para as exportações desse produto por um período.

Comer carne de frango ou ovos bem cozidos não transmite a doença. O risco de infecção humana somente se dá pelo contato com animais vivos infectados.

Houston’s Charlo will look to earn undisputed status in a second weight class with a career-defining triumph over Canelo in the first showdown between two reigning male undisputed champions in the four-belt era.

Ugh, I can't believe this, I have the worst flashback right now...

This is so eerily similar to the whole "Unreleased/Unedited sprinter version" thing back in September 2024 (post 1 / post 2 / post 3 / post 4) that it immediately makes me suspicious. I wouldn't be surprised if the same person was behind this...

Let's clarify a few things:

This is NOT AN OFFICIAL CHANNEL. While the channel doesn't explicitly declare itself as fan-made, there's no claim that any of the stuff is provided by an official source. In the description, it is even mentioned that there is no affiliation to the Official Kalafina YouTube Channel by Sony. The profile picture may be misleading though because it does look pretty legit. Don't fall for it!

NONE of these videos are NEW. These are all edits of already existing content (most of it probably taken from my Google Drive collection¬_¬). This person obviously spent a lot of time putting together different video/audio snippets to create compilations that can easily appear "new" to casual fans. It's a mixture of DVD/BD footage, TV footage, bonus and/or FC content so it's a bit confusing, especially if you do not have intimate knowledge of every little thing that was ever released by Kalafina or in relation to Kalafina.

The Keiko Documentary you mention is available as bonus footage on the "10th Anniversary Film" home video release. So again, not new at all. The person who uploaded this video simply added obnoxious audio tracks and a bit of footage from Kalafina's Red Moon Live as well as Keiko's 「夕闇のうた/Yūyami no Uta」 MV Making-of. The YK audio comments are taken from this short promo video for Yūyami no Uta and this FC exclusive FJS radio episode in which YK tried to explain her infamous Twitter statement.

So yeah, I am sorry to disappoint you and anyone else who might have discovered this channel...Nothing special or exciting to see there...This is probably just an attention seeker who wants people to believe they are providing new and unreleased content.

A explosão de tanque em uma empresa de asfalto localizada na SC-157, linha Fernando Machado, interior de Cordilheira Alta, no Oeste de Santa Catarina, foi causada pelo acúmulo de vapores inflamáveis no interior do tanque que estava sendo abastecido com piche (emulsão asfáltica), aliado à utilização indevida de um maçarico alimentado com gás GLP.

A informação consta no laudo pericial concluído pela Polícia Científica. A explosão de tanque aconteceu no dia 18 de fevereiro durante o descarregamento de emulsão asfáltica. O incidente causou forte deslocamento de ar, destruição parcial de estruturas, a morte de um trabalhador e ferimentos em outros três.

Conforme os peritos, o maçarico foi possivelmente acionado para tentar acelerar o escoamento da emulsão, mas acabou servindo como fonte de ignição para os gases acumulados.

Além da análise técnico-pericial no local da explosão, exames laboratoriais foram realizados em amostras do material coletado.

“O laudo aponta que as práticas adotadas no momento da operação não seguiram protocolos mínimos de segurança exigidos para o manuseio desse tipo de substância, contribuindo decisivamente para o desencadeamento do acidente”, diz a Polícia Científica.

O documento foi encaminhado à autoridade policial responsável pelo inquérito e deverá subsidiar a apuração de possíveis responsabilidades criminais, civis ou administrativas.

O que se sabe sobre a explosão?

Após a explosão, quatro vítimas foram socorridas com gravidade pelas equipes do Corpo de Bombeiros, Samu e Saer/Fron, e encaminhadas com urgência ao HRO (Hospital Regional do Oeste), em Chapecó.

Apesar de todos os esforços das equipes de socorro, o trabalhador Vitor Ferreira de Mello Neto, de 44 anos, não resistiu aos ferimentos e morreu ao dar entrada no hospital, por volta das 15h. A identidade da vítima foi revelada pela PC (Polícia Civil), que investiga as causas do acidente.

Como aconteceu a explosão de tanque?

De acordo com o Corpo de Bombeiros, a explosão de tanque ocorreu durante a transferência de piche (emulsão asfáltica) de um caminhão-tanque para um tanque estacionário dentro do pátio da empresa.

O material transportado, segundo a nota fiscal, era imprimação de emulsão asfáltica de ruptura lenta (código ONU 90 3082), totalizando cerca de 30 mil litros da substância.

We're so sorry to hear about the passing of Jane Powell, who died Thursday, Sept. 16 at age 92. Powell was born Suzanne Burce on April 1, 1929, in Portland, Ore. Her parents put the precocious youngster on radio by age 5 and a stint as the Oregon Victory Girl during WWII landed her a contract with MGM in 1943. She was a popular teen star in films like A Date with Judy (opposite Elizabeth Taylor) and Holiday in Mexico (opposite Roddy McDowall), but she really came into her own with two '50s musicals: Royal Wedding (1951) and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954). In later years, Powell appeared on stage and on TV and she married fellow child star Dickie Moore in 1988 after he interviewed her for a book he wrote about young actors. Oooh i am glad I have piqued your interest!

For me Fjorester at best is stale, boring, no flavor, zero chemistry. Like inoffensively milquetoast and I literally cannot grasp the concept of people actually enjoying the ship and finding it engaging.

Like I was never interested in FJ but I mean Travis describing Fjords feelings towards Jester as "being worn down" really solidifies it as a bad ship...

Because how exactly did Jester wear you down Fjord? Like what steps did Jester take to make you fall for her basically against all your reservations? Because where I am standing Jester really hasn't shown any interest in Fjord since the mid 40 episodes, which was about 60 episodes before the Playlist came out.

And that’s where Fjorester comes at worse, a complete reversal of at the very least Jester’s character growth. Because From episode 40 to episode 99 Jester has taken steps away from being romantically interested in Fjord and also finding self worth within herself and not having to find value in how a guy she had a crush on saw her. Especially since he’s kind of a goober that I feel like Jester questioned what she saw of him in the first place.

Like to me, Fjord and Jester consciously uncoupled throughout the series. I feel like there were times where Jester would try and test the waters again with Fjord to see if there were any romantic feelings still there and it seemed like the interactions always came up short for Jester.

The most prominent example I can think of right now is Jester asking Fjord if she could workout with him and everything went horribly wrong. Like yes some of that had to do with the poor rolls that Travis was rolling, but Fjord acted so poorly about it and acted like his masculinity was injured, even if he was trying to be comedic, and Jester was just like “Ok yikes dude nevermind”

At that point I think Jester thought Fjord ain’t shit anyway and that seemed like a big old nail in the coffin. Because before that we had moments where Jester couldn’t be less interested in Fjord, like when Beau knocked him down for touching her fresh tattoo and he whined to Jester who just told him to “Stay Down”. I mean she also kicked him when he was drowning and told him to “just get up man”

I mean even recently Jester told Fjord to shut the fuck up because he was mumbling to himself about how he was hoarding his money. Like as much as Fjord has grown out of his machismo phase and has just become a more open, vulnerable person. With Jester I still see the old Fjord who has to defend his masculinity in front of Jester and just be a general asshat and Jester at the very least didn’t find it charming. That is until the Hiatus attacked.

“You wore me down” is such a bad, unappealing way of describing how you feel about someone romantically, especially when there was really no effort or attempt on Jester’s part to pursue any type of relationship with Fjord for the majority of their in canon time together. Like not “I got to know you as you are and I’ve grown fond of you” or “We’ve grown so much and I admired you for who you have become”. Ya know...things that would make sense narratively and character development wise. like 3 months of Jester having crush did nothing for you Fjord but 9 months of radio silence is what wore you down?

No, what really wore Fjord down was the rest of the friend group, especially Nott/Veth poking and prodding both him and Jester to get together because for some reason the party doesn’t think Jester has the ability for growing out of a highschool crush that wasn’t really based on reality in the first place? And that is one of the worse parts of Fjorester is everyone keeps putting their own ideas of who Jester is and what she wants above who Jester actually is. It’s like their extreme makeover home edition but instead of making the kid’s bedroom all about one thing the kid likes its the mighty nein making Jester’s romance all about Fjord because she liked him that one time.

It’s honestly like highschool friend group relationship drama shit where your friends won’t give up the fact one friend has a crush on another friend until it either becomes so awkward it ruins their friendship or they date each other even though it would never end good from the start. Like Veth wriggling her eyebrows when Jester and Fjord had dinner together, but it was so uneventful they just skipped it but of course Veth had to make a big deal about it.

Not to mention that Fjord is one of the worse culprits in fundamentally not understanding Jester At All. Like he doesn’t infantilize Jester but he greatly underestimates her complexity, like he looks like a deer in headlights when Jester talks about anything more complicated than liking cupcakes. He also condescends and negs her a lot. Like he thinks Jester is an incurable fibber and just straight up doesn’t believe her when she does things she is capable of.

like not even thinking Jester could dupe the Hag into lifting the curse on Nott and Jester rightfully called him out because his pattern of condescension is irritating AF. And he pulled the exact shit again when Jester said she talked to a tree. Like he fully gets on board with Caduceus talking to plants and stuff but for Jester it must be all make believe. I’d have less of an issue if he didn’t believe everything Jester says if he didn’t always do it in a snotty, passive aggressive way of like “oooh suuuure Jester ooooof coooourse”

like sir, with that attitude you should get nothing, you lose, Jester is better off without you! 

with all of the above you would expect “oh yeah it doesn’t seem too likely, even if Fjord has feelings for Jester now” because like it isn’t great, and Jester up until the Hiatus gave him Nothing. But Now! Now they are pushing it, like it is 1 of the 2 main ships steering the show and the cast thinks we should be gobbling it up as much as they are.

Like why should we be rooting for a couple that 1) don’t understand each other 2) don’t necessarily enjoy each others company and 3) are completely adversarial to each other I think at any moment they’re ready to throw down

Is it because “oh they make each other better because they call each other out on their shit”? because it would be better if they didn’t do it through gritted teeth like they are thinking of which layer of hell they will be sent to after they kill the other person

Is it because the majority of straight couple in media have the two people in a couple hate each others guts until they kiss? I don’t think we should be setting our standards for het romances that low.

Because Jester showed interest in Fjord once and can no longer have feelings for any other person?

Or is it because now that Fjord has caught feelings it doesn’t matter what development Jester has made that has pushed her narrative away from being about romancing men that ain’t shit for her?

like CR is tripping over themselves and destroying any compelling romance to give us the blandest, low budget, hallmark hetero romance story that literally nobody asked for.
